[INTRO ♪]

If you've been paying attention to any health news lately,

you might've heard that The American Society of Clinical Oncology

released an official statement about alcohol and cancer.

Some headlines make it sound like everyone should just

quit drinking now if they care about their health.

But it's not that extreme, and it's not really new information.

Basically, this statement is saying that there's growing evidence

that too much alcohol can be really bad for you in the long term.

Sounds pretty reasonable.

And, to be super clear, you shouldn't panic if you

crack open a cold one with the boys every once in a while.

Scientists have been looking at risk factors

involved in cancer for years and years.

And a scientific statement just means that a group of experts

gathered up a bunch of research and published an overview of it,

while pointing out questions that could use a deeper look.

The ASCO used decades of cancer research data

to make their recommendations,

including a bunch of meta-analysis or pooled analysis studies.

These are where researchers take results from other papers,

like case studies or lab research,

and plug the data into statistical models to look for trends.

Like in 2007, researchers found that alcohol consumption

was a significant factor in cancers of areas like your mouth or esophagus.

Those findings were backed up by a branch of

the World Health Organization in 2009.

Liver cancer and drinking a heavy amount of alcohol were strongly linked

in a 2014 report backed by the World Cancer Research Fund International.

And in a 2017 review, breast cancer risk before menopause

was found to increase by around 5% if you have one drink a day.

Just to name a few.

The problem is what your body does with the alcohol once you drink it.

Ethanol gets processed into a molecule called acetaldehyde,

and that's the stuff that can mess with your DNA,

make your cells mutate, and cause cancer.

Research on animals like rats and mice has backed up this hypothesis, too.

They were much more likely to develop tumors

if they drank water with ethanol or acetaldehyde.

Now, a lot of these reviews provide evidence against excessive drinking

and binge drinking, which is defined as consuming more than

four or five drinks in a single night out.

No matter what type of alcohol, you're increasing your risk.

But even though the statement seems pretty clear,

the big picture is complicated.

We're still not sure how much alcohol consumption alone affects cancer risk.

These statistics could be influenced by things like smoking,

or even sociological factors that affect how much people drink.

So the statement also points out that there are

lots of gaps in our knowledge that only more research can fill.

But for now, you know the drill.

Like bacon or any of the other foods that have been linked to cancer,

after understanding the risks, you can just…

make sensible choices and live your life.

Now, besides all this talk about cancer,

I think we can all agree that drinking too much can leave you with

one heck of a headache the next morning.

And headaches just suck.

Some of them are mild, caused by not enough sleep

or staring at a screen for too long.

But others can be aggressively terrible, like migraines.

And with any sort of head or face injury,

you might just feel like that's worse than other kinds of pain.

And this week, Duke University scientists found some evidence

that any extra distress isn't all in your head.

Well, I mean, it is.

It is literally in your head because pain is signaling from your brain.

The point is: there could be a real difference

in how we perceive different kinds of pain.

Pain is produced by the brain in response to nerves that signal danger.

Like, if you place your hand on something hot,

nerves in your hand tell your brain

"yeah, there's a—there's a /lot/ of thermal energy here…

I don't think this is good."

Your brain then translates that into a feeling that might change your behavior,

like pulling your hand away really fast.

The thing is, there are two main pathways for these danger signals

to get to your brain: one set of nerves come from your face region,

and the other set comes from everywhere else.

In this study, the group injected some not-so-pleasant chemicals

into the face and paws of mice to test how they were

experiencing pain in both cases.

And they found that messing with the faces of mice

led to more signaling in a cluster called the parabrachial nucleus.

That's a hub of nerves that leads to regions like the amygdala,

a part of the brain responsible for processing emotions and instincts.

Eventually, it seems like all danger signals

get processed by the parabrachial nucleus.

But what stands out here is that the researchers found evidence that

some of the nerves from the mouse faces went directly there.

So the researchers think this could be why previous studies in humans

have seen more amygdala activation or emotional distress

with face pain than pain in other places.

Scientists and migraine-sufferers alike are hopeful that

this discovery will help expand our idea of pain

to include both sensory discomfort and emotional suck.

And hopefully learning more about that will help with better treatments.

Surprise Birthday Gift! - Duration: 2:46.

Today's going to be a very fun video.

My friend Rikki has sent me a birthday gift.

And she told me I need to open this on camera.

So that's what I'm gunna do.

But to start off, I'm quite nervous for this gift

because if you don't know Rikki the way I do

She's super sneaky!

Like she texted me with a bunch of questions

and then she sent me this photo.

Which if you don't know, this is Rikki's

"I'm up to something no good" face.

I'm on to you Rikki.

So I have this, this is what I got.

And I'm going to open it on camera.

I hate these things they're so difficult to open.

And I could get a scissor but I'm not.

Okay I'm not looking.

There's a card first.

I'm going to read the card.

It says my name!

(screams and gasps)

It has a cat! Oh my god!

Look at this little cat!

(gasps) Awh.

It says "Happy Birthday, hope you enjoy. Love Rikki. Love you."

(squeals)

It's a box.

I'm not going to look at it yet.

Oh it's open.

Okay.

(laughs)

(gasps) Oh it's so cute!

It's a Manatee!

Oh my god!

It's so precious, I gotta open it.

It's so cute!

(big gasp)

It's so cute!

Oh my god.

I just killed it!

So you put tea in it.

I'd have to put like loose leaf tea in here.

And then like you just put it in the cup and it goes like this.

You're so precious.

You mean a lot to me.

I need to get a cup, I'll be right back.

So then I would do it like this and (gasps)

Oh my god thank you Rikki! Thank you, thank you!

I don't know if I wanna use you

for tea, I just....I love you.

I'm sorry, I don't know what to say in this video because

I'm just very very emotional and happy.

For those of you who don't know

Manatees are my favorite animal.

Like I love Manatees so much.

And I'm just so happy, and I love tea.

Thank you Rikki! (laughs)

This is so cute.

Oh my god.

I'm just very happy.

okay good bye!

JUST LABEL IT – WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT'S IN OUR FOOD & HERE'S WHY - Duration: 9:55.

JUST LABEL IT WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHATS IN OUR FOOD & HERES WHY

BY ARJUN WALIANOVEMBER

Its fitting that Michael J. Fox stars in this video, given the fact that hes a long

time sufferer of the second most common neurodegenerative disease on the planet, Parkinsons disease.

Its a disease that several recent studies have linked to pesticides, like Monsantos

glyphosate Roundup herbicide, and some of which are already built into GMO crops

like corn, soybeans and more.

That being said, its also important to note that a recent study published in the

journal Biomedical Research International found that Roundup herbicide is 125 more toxic

than regulators have claimed. (5) You can read more about that here.

These agricultural pesticides have also been linked to autism, cancer and Alzheimers

disease, you can read more about that here.

This is just one out of many reasons as to why we should just label Genetically Modified

Organisms(GMOs), and why everybody has a right to know what they are eating. Everybody should

be given the freedom of choice, regardless of whether they believe GMOs are harmful or

not.

Why We Have A Right To Know

Any politician or scientist who tells you these products are safe is either very stupid

or lying. The hazards of these foods are uncertain. In view of our enormous ignorance, the premature

application of biotechnology is downright dangerous. By slipping it into our food without

our knowledge, without any indication that there are genetically modified organisms in

our food, we are now unwittingly part of a massive experiment. David Suzuki, CC,OBC,PH.D

LLD, Geneticist

Theres a reason that several countries around the world have completely banned GMOs

and the pesticides that go with them (or have severe restrictions). One of the biggest reasons

are the detrimental effects they can and are having on human health.

For example, Sri Lanka recently banned glyphosate from their country because of its possible

link to a fatal kidney disease. (6) You can read more about that here.

In Argentina, deaths from cancerous tumours have as much as doubled in areas where GM

crops are grown and agro-chemicals are used. (7)

Several studies have also shed light on glyphosates potential to be an endocrine disruptor. Endocrine

disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with the hormone system in mammals. These

disruptors can cause developmental disorders, birth defects and cancer tumours. (8)(10)

Another popular study, supported by hundreds of scientists from all over the world was

the Seralini study. It provided good evidence linking GMOs to cancer, liver/kidney damage

as well as severe hormonal disruption. It was published and went through a rigorous

peer-review process in the Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology. The study was then

retracted after Richard E. Goodman a former Monsanto researcher become the associate editor

for biotechnology at the journal, which sparked outrage among many scientists who supported

the study.

Again, over a hundred scientists condemned the retraction of the study and a new study

was conducted addressing the criticisms of the old ones . It was then republished again

in multiple journals. (9) You can read more about that study here.

What also has people scratching their heads when it comes to GMOs is the secrecy and political

corruption that seems to follow. For example, Wikileaks cables reveal that the State Department

was lobbying all over the world for Monsanto, and other major biotech corporations. They

reveal that American diplomats requested funding to send lobbyists for the biotech industry

to meet with politicians and agricultural officials in target countries. These

included countries in Africa, Latin America and some European countries. This is significant

because the documents also indicated that the United States government planned to retaliate

and cause pain on countries refusing GMOs. You can read more about that, and access those

documents here.

The list as to why GMOs should not be approved as completely safe for human consumption is

very long and could probably fill up thousands of pages with information from science, to

corruption and environmental degradation and more. Despite this fact, most of North America

is still struggling to put a label on these foods.

Despite the setbacks, a tremendous amount of progress is being made. A large amount

of awareness has now hit mainstream media as a large collective across the planet now

openly opposes GMOs. Theyve been banned in various places and two counties in Oregon

have even been successful with their ban efforts.

The GMO topic is a great example of a topic growing, being questioned and examined outside

of the mainstream media. Its a topic that became so big in the underground news

world (for lack of a better term) that the mainstream media had no choice but to pick

it up.

As we continue to push forward I have no doubt that GMOs will eventually become extinct,

and that a large majority of us will be able to see through the false justifications that

have been used to bring them into our world. They are not needed, and we shouldnt be

made to believe that they are.

The information presented in this article is when it comes to GMOs/Pesticides and human

health is just a fraction of available information in the public domain. I hope this encourages

you to further your research if interested.

Federal Lawsuit Exposes Dangers of GMOs

In 1996, Steven M. Druker did something very few Americans were doing then learn the

facts about the massive venture to restructure the genetic core of the worlds food supply.

The problem of unawareness still exists today, but its getting much better thanks to activists

like Druker.

Druker, being a public interest attorney and the Executive Director of the Alliance For

Bio-Integrity, initiated a lawsuit in 1998 that forced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) to divulge its files on genetically engineered foods.

Hes recently published a book on the lawsuit (2015). In the book, Druker provides details

of his experience, and hes also released the documents on his website showing the significant

hazards of genetically engineering foods and the flaws that the FDA made in its policy.

Its called Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: How the Venture to Genetically Engineer Our

Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public.

The book has some very impressive reviews. For example, David Schubert, Ph.D., molecular

biologist and Head of Cellular Neurobiology at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies

said that this incisive and insightful book is truly outstanding. Not only is it

well-reasoned and scientifically solid, its a pleasure to read and a must-read.

Stephen Naylor, Ph.D., CEO and Chariman of Mai Health Inc., an individual who spent 10

years as a Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Pharmacology and the Mayo Clinic

stated that Drukers meticulously documented, well crafted, and spell binding narrative

should serve as a clarion call to all of us.

Joseph Cummins, Ph.D. and Professor Emeritus of Genetics at Western University in London,

Ontario believes that Drukers book is a landmark and that it should be required

reading in every university biology course.

John Ikerd, Ph.D. and Professor Emeritus of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the

University of Missouri further accentuated the previous statements by saying that the

evidence is comprehensive and irrefutable; the reasoning is clear and compelling. No

one has documented other cases of irresponsible behaviour by government regulators and the

scientific establishment nearly as well as Druker documents this one.

In publishing his book and filing this lawsuit, Druker exposed how the agency covered up the

warnings of its own scientists about the risks, lied about the facts, and then ushered these

foods onto the market in violation of federal law.

Dr. Jane Goodall wrote the foreword to the book,

As part of the process, they portrayed the various concerns as merely the ignorant

opinions of misinformed individuals and derided them as not only unscientific, but

anti-science. They then set to work to convince the public and government officials, through

the dissemination of false information, that there was an overwhelming expert consensus,

based on solid evidence, that GMOs were safe.

Check out the book here.

Its also noteworthy to mention that Druker has actually served on the food safety panels

at conferences held by the National Research council and the FDA, presented lectures at

numerous universities, met with government officials throughout the world, and conferred

at the White House Executive Offices with a task force of President Clintons Council

on Environmental Quality.

Are You The Parent Of A Superhuman Indigo Child - Duration: 6:49.

Are You The Parent Of A Superhuman Indigo Child

By consciousreminder

In the late 90s, one woman started to realize that a bunch of the children born around the

Generation Y era had something tangible and yet spiritual in common.

She began to study them and decided that they all had something in common.

She believed that something was very important, spiritual even, and gave the children powers

that made them special.

Is your child a superhuman Indigo child?

Heres how to find out.

Indigo Children.

According to a pseudoscientific New Age concept [Indigo Children are] children who

are believed to possess special, unusual, and sometimes supernatural traits or abilities,

says Wikipedia.

The concept was developed by Nancy Ann Tappe and later expanded by Jan Tober and Lee Carroll.

Auras.

The concept was developed in the 1970s by parapsychologist Nancy Ann Tappe, who claimed

she started to notice a commonality among kids born during that era.

Tappe, who claimed to be able to see auras, said she noticed many children who had indigo

auras.

Synesthesia.

Tappe claimed that she had synesthesia, which is a condition wherein a persons sense

are crossed.

They will often hear or taste colors, or see sounds.

It was her synesthesia, said Tappe, that helped her notice auras and the influx of indigo

children.

Popularity.

In 1998, The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by husband and wife

lecturers Lee Carroll and Jan Tober, was published.

An international conference was held in Hawaii in 2002 that centered entirely around Indigo

children and drew around 600 attendees.

There have since been other conferences.

Books and films.

Indigo children are making their way into popular culture.

Aside from the Carroll and Tobers book there has been a documentary about Indigo

Children, The Indigo Evolution, and two feature films: The Indigo Children

and Indigo.

Psychic traits.

According to the website Spiritual Growth, indigo children can travel between worlds

and dimensions as they sleep.

Of course, theres no concrete evidence that this is possible.

What they would do on said journeys remains a mystery.

Ages.

Signs of Indigo Children have existed since as far back as the 1950s but the majority

of Indigos were born during the 1980s.

According to Tappe, as much as 80 percent of babies born in the 1980s are Indigo children.

Downsides.

According to some accounts, a commonly perceived downside of being an Indigo is ADD and ADHD.

According to the New Age Journal They bore easily, they are impulsive and they do things

super fast.

Giving them medication is not the answer.

Chaos.

Indigos minds are said to function in a way that is more chaotic than those who have

come before them.

According to the New Age Journal, They create chaos everywhere they go.

They can sense dishonesty a mile away and are unable to conform to dysfunctional situations

within their homes, schools and work places.

Gone are the days of threatening wait till your father gets home, or youll be

suspended, the Indigos dont care!

They [dont] fall for hidden agendas.

Behavioral Patterns.

Its said that Indigos can be spotted by certain behavioral patterns.

According to Spiritual Growth, They are born feeling and knowing they are special

and should be revered.

An Indigo knows they belong here as they are and expect you to realize it as well. Of

course, this sounds like all millennials (or brats), but apparently, Indigos are this way

too.

More behaviors.

These children are more confident and have a higher sense of self-worth.

Absolute authority, the kind with no choices, negotiation, or input from them does not sit

well.

The educational system is a good example.

Some of the rules we so carefully followed as children seem silly to them and they fight

them, says Spiritual Growth.

This course also falls in line with what we tend to know of kids with ADD.

Traits.

The following is a list of possible Indigo traits.

If you check off most of these boxes, your child might be an indigo.

Strong willed, born in 1978 or later, headstrong, creative, an artistic flair for music, jewelry

making, poetry, and so on, prone to addictions, an old soul, intuitive or psychic.

Yet more Indigo behaviors.

Indigos are said to be insightful.

Perhaps this accounts for the popularity of the term hack in the modern era.

Spiritual growth says that adults often view an Indigo as anti-social unless they are with

other Indigos and that they often feel lost and misunderstood, which causes them to go

within.

Indigo and the outside world.

Inidgos are said to be isolationists.

They are either aggressive and prone to acting out, or they are introverted.

They are also independent and proud, and want to help the world in some deep way.

They easily bond with animals and are susceptible to depression and insomnia.

Crystal children.

The next aura group after Indigos are Crystal or Star Children.

They are said to be born between 1990 and 2010.

According to the website Star Children, The Crystal children began to appear on the planet

from about 1990-2010, although a few scouts came earlier.

Their main purpose is to take us to the next level in our evolution and reveal to us our

inner and higher power.

They function as a group consciousness rather than as individuals, and they live by the

Law of One or global oneness.

They are also advocates for love and peace on this planet The first thing you will

recognize about Crystal children is their forgiving nature.

They are very sensitive, warm, and caring.

Dont mistake these characteristics as a sign of weakness as Crystal children are also

very powerful.

The LEGO Justice League 2018 Brick Headz are a mixed bag... - Duration: 1:14.

Hello, just2good here,

and LEGO just revealed the Brick Headz for the Justice League,

which release in 2018.

The Aquaman one is a mess.

I thought Phasma would be the worst for a while,

but Aquaman gives a run for her money.

The hair using medium dark flesh towards the tips doesn't work,

the top of the beard looks way to clean,

and the outfit is much to green.

That rhymed.

I do like Cyborg a lot,

and it's interesting that they got his skin color right here,

using medium dark flesh, while the minifigure used reddish brown.

His designs looks interesting,

I like the mix with the robotic parts with his hair and skin coming through,

and it's a great interpretaion of the chacter from the movie.

The Flash looks good.

Not perfect, the helmet needs more curves,

but it's all dark red instead of a mix of red and dark red like the minifigure.

While I didn't mind this on the minifigure,

it just wasn't very accurate,

so this is a little bit more accurate.

And, Wonder Woman is pretty bad.

While the last two were more accuracte,

this one has black hair for some reason,

which doesn't match the movie -

even the minifigures got the color right with dark brown hair.

There's no printed bracelets like the minifigure,

and I wish the hair overlapped a bit to the forhead.

So we have a mixed bag here.

Two good ones, and two bad ones.

Cyborg is probably one of my favorite Brick Headz,

and Aquaman is one of my least favorites.

Either way, what do you guys think?

Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

I'll see you guys later.

Peace out.

Ethereum vs Ripple | In The News - Duration: 1:14.

Bitcoin is:

An experiment in monetary theory. It's a breakthrough

in emergent collaborative systems.

Complicated and maybe the future as a store of value.

In five years, cash will be:

Cash.

I don't think cash is changing dramatically in the next five years.

Cash will be valuable still. But it may take on different forms.

Some of those forms will be decentralized cryptocurrencies.

You should invest in XRP because:

Not even gonna answer that.

We're solving a multitrillion-dollar problem and we're making

a lot of progress towards that.

ICOs are:

Fraud.

Speculative. And speculation drives innovation so they're

very important in creating foundational infrastructure.

Governments should embrace cryptocurrency because:

They can help make governments more efficient.

I am certain the government should embrace applications

built on blockchain systems.

What keeps me awake at night is:

Email.

Keeping the Ripple momentum going.

To critics who say cryptocurrency is a bubble, I say:

Yes. It's a bubble that drives innovation.

JOBS PROGRAM - Midland School, California - Duration: 1:50.

Every single student who gets a diploma from Midland graduates from here with a

work ethic that extends beyond "just sit down do your homework" - it's a real work

ethic. The jobs program is a series of chores that the whole community does in order

to keep Midland clean, organized and stable.

My jobs have been bathroom cleaner,

dish house and also classroom cleaner.

So I was a waiter and dish house my freshman year and then

I worked in middle yards from a sophomore and junior year.

It's really fun to have -

when you have a crew to because you get to still be social and do work at the same time.

I learned how to work hard. I think it allows students to learn by doing in a

way that you might not learn about at other schools.

You definitely gain more of an

education than just academics. The teachers teach a lot of time management and

responsibility - if they don't go to this job then this won't get done. And that affects the

entire student body because then someone else has to cover their job.

And Midland teaches the people here to be independent and their own person.

The jobs program is absolutely crucial for our day-to-day operation and that's part of

the reason we're successful with it. The students aren't only told that they're

useful - they see their use. You get to see it every day- you get to see what

impacted you've made and now you change the campus just by cleaning a window.

Everybody's life is full of small tasks. If you can find the joy in those things, you

set yourself up for the life well-lived. It's a lot of work but it gets fun if

you have a good crew going. The jobs program gives everybody this feeling of

pride in a job well done. So the most powerful part of our mission

statement is "through study and work."

Chord Tones: The Musicality Podcast - Duration: 10:01.

Ever wondered why some people seem to have a gift for music have you ever

wished that you could play by ear sing in tune improvise and jam you're in the

right place time to turn those wishes into reality

welcome to the musicality podcast with your host Christopher Sutton

in this episode we're going to be talking about chord tones something

which came up in my recent interview with Meghan Nixon of how to sing smart or

calm depending on the instrument you play and the way you play it you might

be very used to thinking about chord tones but most likely you aren't and you

may be missing out as Meghan explained chord tones can provide us with a

helpful framework for playing by ear and improvisation letting us choose notes

that are musically meaningful in the harmonic context whether you play piano

guitar saxophone or you sing whether you want to play by ear improvise or write

music this is a really powerful concept to get your head around I'm going to

talk a bit about chords and chord tones then demonstrate why this concept of

chord tones is useful and then talk about how you can get started using this

yourself the concept of a chord is very useful it gives us a single clear label

to mean a whole group of notes we can say the chord progression goes C F G and

we're actually communicating about a whole bunch of notes that it be played

to create that harmony but this is the drawback of the simplification too it

leaves many musicians almost oblivious to the fact that chords are made up of

individual notes sure we all know intellectually that this is what's going

on but when we listen to or play music we often think of chords as whole solid

things and we miss the point that there is a lot to be learned from thinking

about them in terms of their individual notes too in fact I think pianists and

jazz musicians are perhaps the only people who do generally think a lot

about the individual notes of chords even guitarists who play a lot of chords

tend to think about a chord as being a certain fretboard shape and it's only

the more advanced players who start digging

into that and exploring where those shapes come from and what else can be

done with them before we go any further what do we mean by chord tones well as

we talked about back in Episode five on whole steps and half steps that word

tone can be confusing we're not talking about the interval of a tone or a whole

step here we're using the looser meaning of tone to just mean note so chord tones

are simply the notes present in the chord if we imagine a line of a song

where a single chord is being played and we're trying to play the melody by ear

or choose notes for an improvised solo we might initially be thinking about all

the possible notes in the key all the notes that belong to the scale but we

can also ask which of those notes are being used in the current chord here's

an example I'm going to play a scale to give you an idea of the key we're in and

then I'll play a chord in that key

now I'm going to play the scale again with the chord as a harmony underneath

try to hear which notes from the scale belong to the chord

and here's the same thing again with the scale in the same range as the chord

which might make it a bit easier to hear which notes match up

could you hear how some of those notes matched up and felt relaxed and

comfortable while others created more tension none of them sounded terrible or

out of key but there are definitely some that went better with the cord now you

might be thinking well duh that's why it matters what chords you choose for a

song and that's exactly right if you're starting from a melody then yes you can

choose the chords based on which will harmonize it nicely but the key thing to

understand about this idea of chord tones is that the reverse is true too if

you're starting from a chord progression then you can go a long way in

understanding the melody or what improvisation will work by thinking

about the chord tones present as you just heard some notes will fit in really

comfortably while others will create tension and so by choosing your notes

based on hearing whether they belong to the court or not and if they do which

note of the chord they are you have a huge shortcut to picking the right notes

for playing by ear or improvising a solo so that's the basic idea of chord tones

how can you get started taking advantage of this well that's going to depend a

lot on your musical life but step one is going to be to get your brain and ears

familiar with what's going on at musical you in our chord ear training modules

one of the key things we help people do is to get past the stage of hearing a

chord as just a single blur of notes and be able to dissect them orally into each

note so that you can hear both the overall sound and each of the notes

present that's a key skill if you want to make use of chord tones by ear

without that you can still proceed using your brain and knowing in advance what

the notes of the chords are but it's really best if you can bring your ear

and your brains to the task together once you've done a bit of groundwork to

get your ears dissecting chords start with simple songs pick a song that uses

just three or four chords ideally the one four and five and maybe the six if

you don't know what I'm talking about there I'll put a link in the show notes

to explain I'll also include a backing track or two where it's just simple

chords that you can experiment over then take a little time to figure out the

notes in each good it's one of these simple progressions

then you'll have three notes per chord for example a one for five in C major

would have the notes C E and G for the first chords chord tones then F a and C

for the second chords chord tones and G B and D for the third chords chord tones

next simply spend some time playing along with the song making use of those

notes your goal is to be able to actually hear how those notes are

present in each chord you might start by just playing the root note of each chord

then play the arpeggios meaning each note in turn from the lowest to the

highest and back again and then start experimenting a bit with little melodies

based just on the chord tones from there you can move into playing by ear if

that's your interest using these chord tones to give you an insight into which

notes are being used in the melody can you hear where the melody blends well

with the chords and where there's more tension you'll often find that phrases

start and end on a note from the current chord but might draw on other notes from

the scale in between we have a great tutorial by guitar teacher Brad maven on

our website which walks you through this chord tones approach for playing a pop

song by ear I'll put a link to that in the show notes there are some guitar

specifics but I think it can be applied for any instrument or if you're more

interested in improvisation then your next step is to explore how you can

shape your phrases by choosing notes which do and don't belong to the chord

this is a really great way to quickly get that powerful tension and release in

your solos which notes can you linger on to create a clashing sound that demands

resolution and which note do you need to move to to create that release the chord

tones have the answer this is a key technique for jazz musicians who will

improvise the solo thinking almost entirely about the chord progression

rather than the key the key in its scale alone don't really reveal the complex

harmonies going on in a typical jazz standard but following the chords can

reveal the notes and scales you need to use to create a dynamic and powerful

solo that matches the song well this was the context where Megan was talking

about it as the singer if you need to improvise

it can feel a bit overwhelming you really need to hear the notes you choose

before you sing them and getting your ear around the chords makes it far

easier to narrow it down to the notes which are going to sound good it

provides you with a kind of palette of sounds that you can then draw on to

shape your solo so that's what you need to know to start making use of chord

tones it's a pretty simple idea that we can approach melodies and solos based on

the chords and learn a lot from which notes belong to the chord and which

don't but this simple mindset shift can have a big impact on your success in

playing by ear improvising and simply understanding how music fits together ad

chord tones to your musical toolkit and you'll have a powerful new insight into

the music you hear and the music you play thank you for listening to the

All Out War Expected Within The Hour After What Anti-Trump Democrat Was Just Arrested

In SICK Plot Against Pres.

For over a year, the left has been in meltdown mode ever since Donald Trump was elected as

president.

There have been protests, riots, marches, and even a threat by Antifa goons to overthrow

the government earlier this month that failed miserably.

Instead of these pouting leftists accepting the fact that Trump is indeed President, they

only continue with their childish antics that have often turned violent.

Now, one anti-Trump liberal was just arrested after her sick message to President Trump

and his supporters was spotted on the road, and you can bet that the will respond violently.

Yesterday, Amanda Shea of mPolitical, reported on a truck that was spotted in Texas that

had a disgusting message for Trump plastered on it.

The vehicle was discovered in Fort Bend County by concerned citizens who snapped a picture

of the nasty decal that said 'F**k Trump and f**k you for voting for him' on its

back window.

The photo was uploaded on to Facebook where it quickly went viral with many people wanting

the driver punished for the crude language on their vehicle.

The Daily Mail reported, that Sheriff Troy E Nehls of Fort Bend County, caught wind of

the expletive decal and posted it to his Facebook page with a stern message to the anonymous

driver.

"Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding

[the sticker], but I feel [police and the driver] could come to an agreement regarding

a modification to it," he wrote.

Of course, the left came out in full swing threatening Sheriff Nehls for "endangering

the driver's identity" even though the truck's license plate was cropped out of

the image.

When that argument didn't work, they attacked the Sheriff for wasting tax dollars searching

for the driver and stifling free speech.

Eventually the driver of the truck's identity was revealed as 46-year-old Karen Fonseca,

and that is when the entire case took an interesting turn.

As it turns out Fonseca was a woman running from the law for fraud and had a warrant out

for her arrest.

Here is more from CBS News:

The driver of a pickup displaying an expletive-filled message to President Donald Trump and his

supporters in the Houston area was arrested Thursday on an outstanding warrant.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office records show Karen Fonseca was arrested about 2 p.m.

Thursday on an outstanding fraud warrant issued in August by the Rosenberg Police Department.

She was in the county jail Thursday night with bond set at $1,500.

Fonseca was released from jail Thursday night after her husband posted her bond, CBS affiliate

KHOU reported.

"I'm almost certain it does have to do with (the truck decal)," she said after

her release.

"People abuse the badge, and in my opinion, money talks.

When you're in politics, people know how to work the system."

A sheriff's spokesman has not answered a message seeking details behind the warrant.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls had threatened Fonseca with a disorderly conduct charge over

the decal.

However, District Attorney John Healey said he didn't think it would have been a prosecutable

case.

Fonseca had said she would not remove the decal.

She said she had been stopped by law officers, but that they have no grounds to issue a citation.

"It's not to cause hate or animosity," the 46-year-old Fonseca told the Houston Chronicle.

"It's just our freedom of speech and we're exercising it."

Nehls on Wednesday posted a photo of the truck message on Facebook alongside a request to

speak with the driver.

Nehls in his post said that a county prosecutor told him the message could warrant a misdemeanor

charge of disorderly conduct.

But at a news conference later Wednesday, he seemed to back away from that idea.

Nehls said he supports freedom of speech but worried that profane messages could incite

others and lead to confrontations that would disturb the peace he's pledged to keep.

Fonseca is already priming the public by saying that the reason she was arrested was to stifle

her free speech, which is absurd.

The fact of the matter is that she had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest and

when she made a public spectacle of herself, the police were able to track her down.

Of course the leftist minions won't see it that way and are most likely getting ready

to riot in the streets, but that does not change the facts.

Will Fonseca take down the disturbing decal on the back of her truck?

Most likely not, but at least she has been caught and will finally have to face the music

for crimes she has been avoiding all this time.
