Hello, long time no see
It's been almost a month from the last time I have been here in the garage.
I have just cleaned the last episodes mess
In this episode we just work bit more with that Audi
I got a cylinder compression tester from cousin
and I thought we check those cylinders just in case
to be sure that everything is ok in there
Then I went to warehouses and found two Golf 3 brake boosters
And it seems to have same bolt pattern what that Audi has
those have ball on the rod end and Audi uses a fork that screws in place
but we have to see if we could cut that rod and make a threads to it
that could be the solution for my brake booster swap
I have also got some new parts
got that steering rack pipe done
that's about all. Let's get to work
forgot to say in the beginning
would be nice If anyone there has a coupe's front bumper that fits to S2
and would be even nicer if you are selling it
that current bumper is in quite bad shape
middle grill is also missing and I wouldn't want to start fixing that.
or if someone has that grill to sell, then I could think of repairing.
but I'll try to hunt the complete bumper

I got those RS2 bumpers that came with the car
but the other one had got hit by a wheel loader bucket
and it was totaled beyond repair
other one doesn't fit and is bit more square looking than the RS2 one
and I think it doesn't even look good
and thenm I got new steering wheel....
got a year 2000 S6 steering wheel
thanks to guy who send it, altho I paid for it
but think I got it with a nice price
that was 100€
but there will be a problem with blinker switches
automatic return won't work
I could buy a seperate airbag ring and modify it so it would work.
but I found out that -96 > 2000 A4 has a same kind of levers thingy
so if you have it with OBC switches
I would be really interested...
and even better if there is also plugs with cut wires
so I could fit it in place nicely
it should have that airbag ring on
and then if someone has a Cabrios steering wheel plastic cover
it should fit to that different lever thingy...
but there was my needs...
there is those brake boosters
other one is missing a foam and it's there on the table
but I think that one could be in better shape
dunno, but anyway have to see if one of those fits
and have to see if we could make threads to this and it's long enough
dunno how hard it is so have to just try
and if that Audi's fork has about the same size threads
those 4 bolts seems to be at same pattern
as it's in there also
I'll take that one off
and see if those brake boosters will fit to there...
I went to local store and got this pipe done
this was the return side of those hydraulics
this one with those t-pieces
I made just a single hose as those other ones we don't need
if we convert to vacuum booster
then I have washed these parts
that fluid reservoir was quite nasty
that belt cover was also bit dirty
that plastic on the block side was broken, so we need to get that one
so we get that belt covered
then we have this compression tester
so we'll try to use that to measure cylinder pressure
I have never used one, but think it's quite easy task to do...
so we put GoPro filming and see what happens
it was quite simple thing to do
I just took all spark plugs off
Just screwed this in one at the time.
think it had some affect how tight I screwed it
but every cylinder was about 13kg/cm3
counted 10 revolutions for every cylinder
now we know that every cylinder has pressure
if you would like to get exact reading
think it would require second test
but that's enough for me
then we start to take that brake booster thingy off
and see what kind of rod and fork there is
and see can we fit one of those
German engineer has planned a nice mounting thing...
nuts are behind there and impossible to reach...
I dunno if this whole mounting thing comes off from the other side...
on the otherhand if I get that off
I won't be able to get that new one on
so have to see from the otherside
with quick check seemed you have to take pedals off
there it is and can't get it on the camera
but have to see bit more
finally got that off, there was one return spring holding
which come to that hole
but it was bolted with 3 nuts from the pedal side
dunno about that bolt pattern
have to undo all
this one was about the same lenght as those one.
from there to there is 20cm
so have to see if we could use this bolt, it's only 8.8 but think it will be strong enough
just cut that and weld that bolt on
but before we do anything, have to see that everything fits properly
hope we don't have to modify anything...
but anyway I'll take that one apart first
test fitted and had to make some changes
I had to reroute that cable thing
before it went from top
I had to take one brakeline off
then I also had to loose clutch pipe
so I could get that cable down enough.
then there is those bolts that are on the way
have to see how those are fitted
think those needs to be cut off
those are just for the fuel line support
and that could be relocated there or there
that wont be a problem
think there was another support also and don't remember for what...
Could be for the cables...
so we don't need this one... Have to just figure how to reroute that cable thingy properly...
anyway I get that off and see what kind of it is now
I moved the old master cylinder to this one
and that mount thingy bolted straight on
I have few millimeters to play with as I could move that booster bit
Could put something between the mount
there is like 5-8mm to work with
then we can also play with this bolt like so..
if we look what's behind this rubber as we think will that bolt hold
think that bolt is stronger than this ball joint..
there won't be so much sideway forces as main force will come from longitudinal-axis
so I think that bolt would be just fine
What I did, I moved that cable that goes to ECU to there
before it was routed from here
that pipe I had to loose. That's the clutch hydraulics.
have to bleed the clutch also, didn't see any thing how to do that...
this could be also a problem
this is the power steering pipes
it should go to that banjo bolt
think we need to bend that pipe a bit
those needs to be cut also that it will fit
think a piece need to be cut from there also
but at the time I would say that it will fit ok
Ok let's end here and try to make little shorter episodes in future
and in regular basis also
there was like 1 months brake for these things
but now on I try to get 1 video out per week as I now have more time to spend in the garage.
next time I think we continue work with that booster
I will refurbish that behind the cameras so I'll save some time
as it's quite simple task to do.
but next time think we weld that bolt
and make some better test fitments
really reasonable work when car won't even start properly
but there is lot of room to work now
as when I begin getting that engine run properly
I need to put cooler and coolant in
but if You have those parts what I need

so we are still in the 68.80€
I thought I'dd add the costs after something gets bolted to engine or to body
I have calculated that I have spent already over 300€
on parts and stuff that will go to car
