Hey everyone! Wojtek here to talk about the meaning of strike while the iron is hot.

It means to act on an opportunity

quickly while there is time or favourable conditions exist.

This old proverb literally has its origins in blacksmithing because when forging items

out of metal, especially iron, it is necessary to strike the metal with a

mallet while it is still hot enough to be shaped. Hence, by striking while the

iron is hot you are acting while you still can.

Some examples of strike while the iron is hot being used in context are...

We found a really nice apartment in the city centre we need to strike while the iron is hot

before someone else rents it.

or...

Make sure you strike while the iron is hot when tickets go on sale because they'll be sold out in seconds.

Remember the next time someone says strike while the iron is hot,

they are talking about taking action before it's too late

Ben Simmons could be on the outer in Philadelphia - Duration: 8:46.

 It's the question US sports site The Ringer has posed and with Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler taking the reins of the side, there may not be room for Simmons anymore

 Speaking on The Ringer NBA Podcast, host Bill Simmons said he wouldn't be surprised if Simmons was traded within the next year and a half earlier this month

 "It's just a gut feeling. It honestly is the same reason that I think Kevin Durant is going to leave Golden State," Simmons said

 "At some point the city and the fans belong to one player on the team. Philly is Embiid's city

I felt it when I went to that playoff game there. They love Embiid and they're frustrated by Simmons

 "Simmons knows that's not his city. The one thing we've learned this decade is all of these guys want their own team

Even Durant, who goes to somebody else's team, and now two years in it doesn't seem like he's happy

" This week, NBA writer for The Ringer Jonathan Tjarks doubled down and said Philadelphia's Big Three of Simmons, Embiid and Butler won't work, arguing the city need to look for more shooters

 "I think they (the 76ers) have got to trade Ben Simmons," Tjarks said on a recent The Ringer NBA Podcast

 "I feel like this is not going to work long term. You've got Jimmy Butler. You've got Joel Embiid

They want the ball. Ben can't play off the ball, Ben needs the ball. It's, like, a pretty simply equation

 "To me, this year in the playoffs, when Jimmy and Joel have the ball, no one's going to guard Ben Simmons and people are going to sour on him really fast

 "I think Ben's very, very talented, obviously, but I think he needs his own team

" Tjarks added the problem comes with all off the "Big Three" demanding the ball. "You've got Joel and Jimmy Butler, those are both two top-10 players when they're going, and they need the ball," he said

 "So you've got to put guys who can shoot around them. That's just the reality." Fellow The Ringer writer Kevin O'Connor said he still thinks there is time for Simmons to develop in Philadelphia

 And with Simmons starting to take mid-range shots — although he is still working out when to seize his moment — he might be more beneficial in another role for the team

 "I think with Ben Simmons, it can work — and I think it has worked with Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler, and those guys also just need more time to develop chemistry with each other," O'Connor said

 "I think one of the things Ben needs is to show a willingness, and Brett Brown (76ers coach) also needs to empower him as a pick-and-roll screener

I think you can put Ben in that role where he's screening for Butler and he's rolling down the lane — he can do the Draymond Green thing on the short roll

He can score with finesse or he can score with power like Blake Griffin on lob attempts

I would love to see a bit more of that." A pick and roll requires the ball carrier to run around a body blocking screen set up by another player and open up a scoring opportunity in the paint for the screener

 Simmons has been averaging 15.9 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.1 assists and has tallied five triple-doubles

 It's also a strange time to bring it up with the reigning NBA rookie of the year having hit three triple-doubles in his past six games, while missing out on another two in that run by just two assists each time

 When Butler arrived in Philadelphia, the ball playing issue was always meant to blow up for the 76ers

 Butler's messy relationship breakdowns at the Wolves and Bulls marked him a difficult troublemaker

 His arrival as the final member of Philly's new Big Three was always going to prompt concerns about the team's harmony as it was a completely new direction for "The Process"

 TTP or "Trust The Process" has been Philadelphia's mantra for the past five seasons, where the team appeared to trade good players out of the side in order to finish towards the bottom of the ladder in order to get good draft picks

 It was the brainchild of former Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie. When 213cm Cameroonian Embiid was taken with the third pick of the 2014 draft and Simmons was nabbed in the first pick of the 2016, it appeared as though "The Process" had reaped it's benefits

 After four years of 14th and 15th places in the Atlantic division, the 76ers finished third last season, and third overall in the Eastern Conference

 Currently, the 76ers sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and second in the Atlantic

 Adding an All-Star in the form of Butler, fans hoped the "Big Three" might make the difference

 Fans and 76ers media personalities aren't keen to see the 76ers turn their back on Simmons just yet

Self Mapping Using The PAUL Method - Duration: 12:10.

welcome to corporals corner today we're going to discuss self mapping using the

pawl method so stick around

a few months ago we filmed a three-part series on land navigation where we took

it from beginning compass reading brought in some maps and they finally

finished off walking in an actual land navigation course so I thought today why

not elaborate on those skills and talk about

self mapping or finding yourself using the pawl method

now what is Paul Paul stands for A+ asmath uniform layout it is simply one

of many control measures that you can put in place to help you figure a

straight line azimuth and distance back to your camp without having to stop and

backtrack by shooting reverse Asmus to every single previous point

Before we jump into the Paul method you're gonna want to grab a few items

first you're gonna want a good compass this is a Suunto mc2 baseplate compass

along with Ranger beads or pacing beads next you're going to grab two mechanical

pencils and a good notebook both of these are made by right in the

rain next you're gonna want some cordage without the paracord

or bank line now all these items I've just shown you are available on my

and last but not least you need a good understand that basic compass use along

with how to perform a pace count so if you don't understand those concepts what

I'll do is I'll go ahead I'll throw up a YouTube card click on that icon it will

give it a shot now if you already understand those concepts let's go ahead

and get to it

okay so how does this work in order for this to be successful you have to have a

solid route that contains admits to specific locations along with accurate

pace counts to those locations so let's go ahead and set up a fictitious

scenario we were out scouting for the day

looking for resources let's go ahead and say that this stake right here with a

tape on it represents our base camp or our vehicle we'll drive that in the

ground right there and that would be our starting point

let's go ahead and say that we walked on a bearing or azimuth of 200 degrees for

200 meters to our first point we're off Scout in the area place my compass on

there rotate it until that needle is in the dog house or the Reds in the shed

there's 200 meters let's go ahead and say the length of this notebook

represents 200 meters take my next stake

drive that bad boy in right there

take your cordage pull it tight wrap it around do it once or twice

now let's come back and double-check

200 agree it's good to go now let's say from here we turned and we walked on a

Berrien or asmath you rotate that muscle ring of 240 degrees and we walked it

again for no at 200 meters

we're then going to go ahead and walk

let's go with 300 degrees for 200 meters

and now at this point we notice with some watered down here we're not gonna

head

thirty degrees let's say for a hundred meters so if that length is two hundred

half is 100

we got our water now from here we want to go ahead and turn let's say to

let's go with 320 degrees

for another 200 meters

now you can see the route that you just walked is unfolding right here in front

of you at this point right here we're done we're getting tired we want to head

back to our base camp like I mentioned before the beauty of the pawl method it

allows you to figure a straight line asmath along with distance back to your

camp without having to backtrack by reverse azimuth to every single one of

these previous points so from here all we're gonna do I'm gonna wrap my base

camp make sure it's tight the tighter you can get this the more accurate is

going to be wrap to the outside

now take my compass lay it next to that line with that needle on doghouse or the

red in the shed

and according to this I can walk Ebury nor azmuth of 100 degrees for

approximately 2 4 500 meters and this same method actually works between

points as well let's say a point number 4 so 1 2 3 4 I realized oh I don't have

my glasses but I do remember having them at point number 1 oh hell no I guarantee

we're going back with the shades all you gotta do is wrap point number 4 in the

direction straight line distance to point number 1

wrap it around pull it tight

put the compass base next to that string or that cordage rotate that bezel ring

looking at approximately 110 degrees for about 375 meters back to point number

one and I can retreat my glasses welcome back the Paul method of self mapping is

outstanding just remember you have to record your route as you walk it keeping

accurate pace counts and Asmus let's talk about these stakes this was a six

foot fiberglass adalah from Home Depot all idea was cutting down to one foot

pieces and sharpen them but truth be told you can walk around pick up sticks

off the ground sharpen them drive them in and you'll achieve the same goal I'd
