House Hunting Checklist / Home Buying Checklist - Duration: 4:47.
Today we're going to go through your house hunting checklist. So let's get started

Today I'm going to share with you a
house hunting checklist before you go out actually looking at homes it's very
important to know what your needs and your wants are that way you can check
off your list and sometimes those needs and want change during the process of
the house hunting the top three items on your house hunting checklist should be
location exterior of the house and interior of the house let's start with
location when you're thinking about the location the first thing you want to
think about is your commute is your commute to work grocery stores
restaurants any of the entertainment venues that you'd like to go to if you
have specific hobbies golfing boating think about the location to all of these
things another subsection of location would be the actual neighborhood schools
is it zoned for the amenities that are offered within the community where is
the home located within the community is it easy access is it a main road sit
down and think about the location where you currently live what do you like
about it and what don't you like about it make sure to mark those on your
house-hunting checklist so number two would be the exterior of the home when
you're thinking about the exterior of the home do you want it two-story do you
want a one-story do you want a long driveway
do you want trees do you want to be on a conservation lot would you prefer to be
on a pond lot do you want to be on open waters these are all things to think
about another item that I've come across with past clients is is there sidewalks
in the neighborhood do you want to be on a cul-de-sac also for the exterior of
the home pay attention to some do tails does the house need to be painted
although we are not talking about budget and how much money you have to fix a
home or how much money you have towards the purchase price I do want you to
consider when you're looking at the exterior of the home the age of the roof
you could find this out through the permitting websites for your County pay
close attention to the paint on the home does the home need exterior paint this
can be very costly if the home has a pool make sure that there are no large
cracks in the pool make sure that it's generally maintained make sure you pay
attention to the lot size especially when you're still looking online a 2500
square foot home that's two-story is going to take up a lot less space on the
lot than a single-story 2500 square foot home number 3 would be the interior of
the home do you want an open floor plan how many square feet would you like
think about the layout of the home are you wanting to have a split bedroom
floor plan where you have a master on one side and then additional bedrooms on
the other side if it's a two-story home do you want the laundry located on the
second floor or the first floor would you like to have the laundry room inside
or is the garage okay for you how many bedrooms do you need how many bedrooms
do you want how many bathrooms do you need how many bathrooms do you want the
ceiling height in your older homes in this step that were built maybe in the
70s you're gonna have lower ceiling height in your homes that were built in
the 80s and 90s you're going to see a lot more of the vaulted ceilings you're
going to see a lot more skylights and the newer homes that you look at you're
going to see that the ceiling heights are much higher windows are the old
windows are the new windows newer windows are definitely gonna be more
energy-efficient pay attention to the age of a/c this is something that you
could find through permit permitting as well and it's also labeled on the actual
unit itself so these that would be another item that would be very costly
if you would have to replace that I have a link down below in the description to

S. Korea expresses dismay over Japan's release of misleading video of alleged radar targeting - Duration: 1:08.
South Korea's defense ministry has expressed dismay at Japan's release of a video Friday
afternoon of alleged radar targeting.
The ministry said the video only contains edited conversations between Japanese pilots
and footage shot from the aircraft,... which does not objectively prove Japan's claim that
it was targeted by South Korea's fire-control radar.
Seoul's defense ministry reiterated its ship did not use its targeting radar,... but instead
used its search radar, and an optic camera attached to the radar to observe the Japanese
aircraft.
The ministry stressed the video only proved that the Japanese aircraft made a low-altitude
flight, circling within 500 meters of the South Korean destroyer and just 150 meters
above the sea,... which is rarely done in international waters,.. as flying that low
could be threatening to the ship.
Seoul officials also pointed out that Tokyo has failed to provide the aircraft's official
records of radar frequency analysis, which could show which radar was used by the South
Korean ship.

Woodturning Olive Vase What to Teach a Novice - Duration: 5:47.
Hi, Alan Stratton, from As Wood Turns. (www.AsWoodTurns.com) A friend from church is going to bring his
daughter over in a bit to have a session on a lathe. She has expressed an interest in
woodturning. So, I thought for this project, I'd do one that would be appropriate for
her. A fifteen year old girl. Now, I think she may be interested in a bud vase.
This is olive wood that I had laying around the shop and I also had some old tubes. So,
I drilled it to put a tube in it. It is a fairly simple project. I will use
a gouge. I'll probably have her use a scraper. But other than that, that is how I would do
a little bud vase out of olive wood. This is not a large piece of olive wood and
it feels like it is still medium wet. I don't want to waste very much of its length chucking
it. I've decided to glue it to a faceplate to minimize waste. I'm dumping a bunch of
medium CA glue on the end of the wood and spraying the faceplate with CA accelerator.
Then mate them together with a little tail stock pressure and let the glue harden thoroughly.
This will not be a strong joint but hopefully will last long enough if I'm careful. I
made a bit of a mess but the silicon baking mat cleans up nicely.
Making sure I have live center pressure, I can now round it over with my bowl gouge.
Fortunately, I put the larger bark area toward the neck end. I start to shape it but don't
want to go very far before drilling for a glass tube.
My tube requires a ½ inch hole. I have to drill in very short lifts since the wood is
wet. When I withdraw the Forstner bit, the chips swell out even more.
With drilling done, I can get serious about shaping. After a little bit with the bowl
gouge, I'm switching to a spindle gouge. With this simple shape, it does not take long.
I just have to be careful to not cut the neck too small with the ½" hole in the middle.
I'll sand now starting with 80 grit to smooth out any lines. Fortunately, the wood is dry
enough to sand. After just a bit of cleanup, I'm cutting
a couple of grooves to assist in wire burning. Then sand it a bit more with 400 grit sand
paper. Olive wood seems to beg for a beeswax and
mineral oil finish. I'll rub it in good with a paper towel and friction from the lathe.
Then part it off. By the way, I was lucky the CA joint held. When parting it off, once
I got to about ½ inch remaining diameter, it broke away. CA seems to require a large
surface area. I tried to smooth the bottom at the disk sander
but got it a bit lop sided. So, how do I refine the bottom when my wood is not mounted to
the lathe. I decided to use the center hole but I need a faceplate with a ½ inch tenon.
This will mount to my chuck with a small tenon. The big question now with the vase mounted
to my faceplate is whether it is centered. I'm trying to center it by levering the
wood with a skew against the tool rest. This did not work this time. I used one of my old
rubber stoppers on the live center. It is too fat but my skew can take care of that.
I finally get it close. As long as I can blend it into the curve, it will be okay. A little
tooling and some sanding and I'm done. I think I'll skip this last section since
parting off with my friend's daughter. Now I can burn my name, the species of wood
and the year into the bottom. This is a small base so my magnifying googles really help.
Next a quick buffing finishes off my vase. I think she can enjoy this. A vase like this
is simple. But, I think I'll have her use scrapers rather than a gouge. I don't think
I'll give her olive wood until she's done several. This olive wood has turned out very
pretty. What easy projects would you offer a 15 year old?
