Why Hollywood Won't Cast Matthew Fox Anymore - Duration: 5:17.
Matthew Fox was on a major career roll for two decades.
He headlined not one but two popular shows in a row, with six seasons of the family drama
Party of Five and then six more years on the sci-fi mystery phenomenon Lost not long after.
As a result of this pair of beloved series, he had the rare distinction of being both
a heartthrob and a guy's guy, and seemed poised to launch from his wild island adventures
straight into the big time.
But the 2010s haven't been so kind to Fox, despite some notable big screen efforts on
his part.
Here are a few theories that explore why, lately, Matthew Fox has seemed so …
He broke big on TV
Fox established himself as a television star thanks to his turns as Charlie Salinger and
Jack Shepherd.
The small screen was his home from the get-go, having just a few film credits to his name
by the time Lost catapulted him into the spotlight.
But the silver screen still piqued his interest, and he tried out supporting roles in movies
like Smokin' Aces and We Are Marshall.
Neither of those were massive hits, but they did suggest that there might be a place for
him in the movie biz.
Unfortunately, a controversial show ending can follow an actor around like a dark cloud.
And few people would argue that Lost's finale was perhaps the worst show ending of all time.
It wasn't Fox's fault that the series ended on such a confusing and frustrating note.
But as the face of the series, there's a chance the blame could've fallen on him a little,
too — at least where ticket-buyers were concerned.
With audiences as upset as they were about the series' crazy conclusion, there's a very
real chance that some Fox fatigue set in as part of the fallout.
Hey, maybe the smoke monster will have better luck?
Big screen bombs
He may have proven that he can handle himself on a film set with his smaller outings, but
his should-be blockbuster debut Speed Racer was a car wreck.
It had a bloated budget and a lot of expectations behind it, but critics hated it, and it lost
a ton of money at the box office.
His big screen career had no hatch hideaway to shelter from this box office bomb.
The good news for Fox is that he was never really held accountable for the film's poor
performance.
But the wheels were already rolling in the wrong direction.
Then, Alex Cross happened.
Past adaptations of James Patterson's Alex Cross novels have done fairly well — movies
like Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider.
But Alex Cross failed to live up to its predecessors, despite some serious effort on Fox's part.
In the film, Fox played super bad guy Picasso, who tortured and maimed people for sport.
The actor reportedly dropped a whopping 20 percent of his weight to play the villain,
and shed his former image as the heroic Jack from Lost.
But despite how convincingly he played Picasso, the movie was absolutely trashed by critics
and — even worse — ignored by audiences.
Ouch.
Cutting room floor
Fox got one more shot in a film that actually did really well at the box office.
Too bad that his role was chopped to the point that no one knew he was actually in it.
The adaptation of Max Brooks' zombie epic World War Z was supposed to be something else
than what audiences saw in theaters.
But after the original cut was shot, a large chunk of the script was rewritten and reshot.
That left most of Fox's scenes on the editing room floor.
Fox would've starred as a colleague of Brad Pitt's Gerry Lane, caring for Lane's family
while he's off globe-trotting in an effort to stifle the undead epidemic, but his role
became a blink-and-you'd-miss-it parajumper scene.
"That's our target, get us down."
Seriously, that was it.
Hope you didn't blink...
All the wrong headlines
In August 2011, Fox's name was dragged through the mud as he was accused by a Cleveland woman
of punching her in the "arms, right leg, thighs and chest."
Later, his former Lost co-star Dominic Monaghan claimed on Twitter in 2012 that "he beats
women" as a reference to that event.
The woman's suit was ultimately dropped and Fox strongly denied the claims, but his reputation
was already sullied.
Fox denied the allegations completely in an interview with Ellen — but it's hard to
undo damage like that once it's been done.
Fox may have maintained his innocence of the assault charges he faced, but in 2012, he
was guilty of an entirely different crime.
He was arrested for driving under the influence in his home state of Oregon.
He did fess up to that incident on Ellen, insisting that he learned a hard lesson and
that he'd never do that again.
Even so, the combination of these tabloid-frenzied incidents certainly didn't help to elevate
his public profile.
Break from Hollywood
Even before things started to slow down for Fox's professional life, he'd already been
considering stepping away from the spotlight for a while.
Instead of living in Los Angeles like so many other stars, he lives in Oregon, where he
likes to fly planes and hang out with his family.
He told Men's Fitness in 2012 that he was considering retiring from the industry even
then, saying that if he didn't "get quality opportunities" he'd probably step away from
the scene.
Seems like he had a contingency plan in place the whole time!
But, for Fox fans hoping to see more of the actor, the good news is that he hasn't altogether
disappeared from the entertainment industry.
In 2015, he appeared in a pair of little-seen horror pics, Extinction and Bone Tomahawk,
the latter of which was very well received by critics, if not by audiences.
So, it seems he's not completely done with movies and television just yet.
In the meantime, we can watch endless Lost reruns and try to make heads or tails of what
was actually happening on that dumb island.
It's the mystery that keeps on giving.
Thanks for watching!

Veterinary Financing with CareCredit - Testimonials | CareCredit - Duration: 1:47.
When it comes to taking care of your family's healthcare needs and wants,
your CareCredit credit card does it all.
When your beloved pets need help, CareCredit makes care possible.
CareCredit was there when I needed them.
It was an intense situation for me with my animals, um, and my animals are my family,
and um, they needed services, and um, I got it taken care of, and it was great.
I have three dogs, and CareCredit enables me to take and afford the care that they need.
And I first got it when I went to the vet, with my dog - he was ill - I was definitely on a fixed income.
I took the application and I called it in, and because they accepted me,
so I was able to get my dog taken care of.
It would have been very tough, and it probably would've been one a case where either I was totally cutting back
on all of my other expenses or I may have had to give her up
as I would not have been able to afford it at the time.
And so CareCredit was literally a lifesaver for, for Murphy.
CareCredit has made it so easy to manage my account
It was a very easy, um, application process.
I actually do all my pages on the website automatically.
If I had to sum up CareCredit, I believe it gives people opportunities to take care of, uh, their pet needs, without having to be afraid.
Your CareCredit credit card can be used to improve your smile, skin, hearing and vision,
and also those unexpected visits to the vet.
CareCredit lets you get your pets the care they need when they need it.
Apply now and give your pets the care they deserve.

The top 7 anti-cancer books you must read - Duration: 3:52.
There are so many great books out there on healing cancer naturally that it's
really hard to narrow it down. But here's my top seven anti-cancer books that I
highly recommend you read to jumpstart your healing journey. Hi. I'm Nikki, the
Truth Fairy from ChoosingDifferently.com
and I'm here to help you find your way to heal cancer.
So book number one on my list is "The Truth About Cancer" by
Ty Bollinger. It's a fantastic introduction to the history of the
medical industry and the cancer industry, why you might want to consider other
options for healing, and what some of those options are. Book number two is
"Anticancer: A New Way Of Life" by David Servan-Schreiber and it's basically his
story as a physician of discovering by accident that he has brain cancer,
navigating the medical system and the cancer treatments, having his cancer
relapse and realizing that he needs to do more if he wants to manage this disease
effectively. Book number three is "Radical Remission "by Kelly A Turner and
it documents her research that shows the nine key things that people did to cure
their cancer naturally when the medical system had given up on them. And it's a
fascinating read because it opens your eyes to all the different things that
you need to address in your life if you want to actually heal cancer.
Book number four is "Beating Cancer With Nutrition" by Patrick Quillin and it's
a great introduction to the importance of nutrition in dealing with cancer and
then goes through the different foods and supplements that you can use to help
your body to heal. Book number five is "Outsmart Your Cancer" by Tanya Harter
Pierce and she goes through 21 different cancer treatment protocols,
natural protocols for dealing with cancer, and how to use each of them for maximum
effect and also how to choose your approach. And then the next two books are
not specifically anti-cancer books, but they contain so much information I think
they're very relevant here. Book number six is "How Not to Die"
by Michael Greger. And it's basically a science-packed book
with all of the information on the power of food to transform your health and to
deal with all kinds of diseases, including cancer. And if you need a
science-based approach I think you'll find this one very helpful. And book
number seven is "Medical Medium" by Anthony William and takes a very different
approach, a spiritual esoteric approach, but nonetheless it still talks about the
importance of what you put in your mouth and the effect it can have on your
immune system and on the diseases that arise in your body as a result. So those are my
top seven anti-cancer books that I highly recommend that you read and I
think once you've read those books you'll have a really great understanding of why
you want to look at alternative options, what some of those options are, how to
choose your options and how to use those alternative approaches for maximum
effect. So your next steps are: One - Go to your local bookstore or Amazon and check
out each of these books. Step number two - Pick the ones that resonate with you,
whether that's all seven or just one of them. Start wherever you can with the books
that you seem most interested in, that seem like a fit for where you're at and
what you need to hear. Step number three - Read the books and put the information
into action and I think you'll be amazed at the transformation you see in your life
in your understanding and in your health. And for 10 simple things that you can do
right now to activate your body's natural ability to heal check out my
Natural Healing Quick Start Guide. And catch my next video to continue
activating your body's natural ability to heal.

It's getting a lot harder to explain what's been going on with Thomas lately.
I feel like he should have at least talked to me before he just disappeared
like that. I would have done that for him.
No. You know what, I am going to focus on keeping my spirits up in fact I think I have time
to go to the salon later in-between my English class- Fred, did you forget something?
Thomas! - Hey Rosy. - Hi!
- Ummm...I'm here for Fred actually
- Oh, umm, he just left
- Really? He said something about how he was literally dying over the phone.
- Yeah, no, he's not here.
If you want to sit and wait for him...? - Yeah.
- I can make you some tea.
- Okay, thank you. Yeah.
I should go.
If Fred's condition was actually critical, I think that- - Wait! Dammit.
- Let me get that.
Here. Don't worry.
There. I think that's it.
- I think that is it.
- Hey. What's wrong, Rosy?
- Where have you been, Thomas?
- I'm sorry, Rosy.
- What does that mean?
- I was wrong to walk out on you and- I was confused and...
- And you're not confused now?
- But I do actually have to go. I have a meeting with my advisor.
- Fine. Call me soon, okay?
- I will. I promise.

How to Meal Plan - Duration: 5:26.
It all seems so simple when you're a kid: Friday is pizza day at the school cafeteria,
so on Friday, you eat pizza.
As an adult, planning what to eat and when can be really tough.
We can eat just about anything.
Woo!
Gas station taquitos all the time!
Can't tell me what to do, Mom!
But, humans cannot live on gas station taquitos alone.
Your mom may have had a point when she told you to eat a vegetable every now and then.
Unless you're a wizard and healthy dinners just appear on your table--
and if you are, actually, please call me--
try this idea on for size:
Meal planning.
Imagine setting off for a busy work week while knowing that you'll have tasty things ready
to cook and eat when you get home from a rough day.
Meal planning saves you cash money and can help you make sure that you eat some veggies.
Or live the dream and eat homemade pizza every day.
Learning how to meal plan is like building any other good habit:
set yourself up for success and practice until it's second nature.
You can find a ton of recipes and apps and online guides to meal planning- we've linked
to a few of our favorites in the doobly-doo.
But meal planning is not just a science.
Meal planning, my friends, is an art.
Here we'll guide you through the zen of meal planning.
Step one: grab a pen and paper.
Or wait.
It's the 21st century.
Pull up your phone's note-taking app.
Now, think.
What do you like to cook that you also like to eat?
How often do you think you can cook at home?
Make a list of your favorite five to 10 meals that you can easily cook in a short time or
mostly make ahead of time.
Here are a couple ideas for meals that come to mind: Roasted chicken thighs with pasta,
and chickpea curry with rice.
Now, we're going to talk more about these specific meals later, but remember, the best
thing you can do to plan your meals is to, uh, actually plan your meals.
Decide what you want to eat next week before you go shopping and prepping over the weekend.
Step 2: Lower your expectations.
Weird, right?
But if this is your first time trying to cook for yourself more often, it's okay to start simple.
Save the souffle for another time.
Use shortcuts when they make sense for you.
It counts as cooking if you buy pre-made pizza dough and add your own toppings.
It even counts as cooking if some nights, all you can do is crack a couple eggs into
a pot of ramen noodles.
Step 3: Here's the thing: Clean your kitchen.
A tidy kitchen is the first step toward cooking more often.
If you have to spend half an hour cleaning up your kitchen before you can start to make
dinner, you'll be hungry and crabby by the time you get to your recipe.
I can't stress this enough: Do your dishes and wipe down your counters, like, every day.
If you really hate dishes, try to make it as fun as you can using the theory of "temptation
bundling."
That means to do something you like to trick yourself into doing something you hate.
Put on some tunes, a podcast, or YouTube video to listen to while you do the dishes.
Buy a fancy dish soap.
Or knock back a shot of whiskey before you start the dishes.
If you make it a regular habit to keep your kitchen clean, you'll notice a huge difference
in how motivated you feel to get in there and start cooking.
Step 4: Go grocery shopping!
Preferably when you're not hungry, or else you'll buy everything in the store.
I've definitely done that before.
When you're out at the store, remember this life-changing, super intense, really helpful
secret about meal planning: Build in lots of flexibility.
The biggest mistake in meal planning is coming up with all your meals for the week and then
not feeling like eating them.
This, my peeps, is the path to dialing the pizza delivery guy.
So try to plan meals based around ingredients that can be really versatile.
Things like: Frozen veggies, kale, rice, pasta, canned tomatoes and canned beans are all great
to grab extras of.
And don't forget the sriracha!
Step 6: Get creative in case things don't go as planned, because to err is human.
Let's say that we bought the ingredients for roasted chicken with pasta for dinner
on Monday and chickpea curry with rice on Tuesday.
But what if you get home on Monday and realize you forgot to thaw the chicken!
Oh balls!
But you totes got this.
Just roast the chickpeas instead and serve them with the pasta, and then use the chicken
the next day in your curry sauce.
Step 7: Cook and eat your meal!
High five!
You'll be a master of meal planning in no time.
Thanks for joining me on this meal planning adventure.
If you have any meal planning tips or tricks, or have a topic you'd like us to cover,
leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
