YOUTUBE sent a parcel to my HOME address?! I'm SCARED 😐 - Duration: 4:07.

Hello everyone! This is Lara

Today is December 26th (when I filmed the video)

A day after Christmas :{P

Today, I received a parcel

The sender's name was "YouTube"

So I thought it was from one of my viewers!

therefore I'm filming a video to film an unboxing video

But actually, I unboxed it already

WHAT?!

When I got this, I freaked out

because this came to my HOUSE

The reason I'm showing you what's inside AFTER checking out by myself

Is because this parcel came to my HOUSE

Usually I never let anyone know my home address!

So I really didn't know how someone found out my home address

and sent me a parcel

What happened today was like this

I was at home just like the other days

and I got a phone call

It was about

someone from Japan sent me an international parcel!

So I said, "I don't think someone would!"

and he said, "The sender's name is Lisa Youtube"

So I thought 'Ah that's probably from one of my viewers then!"

So I replied, "Oh then yes it's for me, I guess"

Then he said "I'll arrive to your home within 10 minutes.

"So please stay at your home"

So I hung up the phone, saying "I will!"

But suddenly, I realized

The parcel was coming to my HOUSE!

I didn't let anyone know the address!

So I started to get nervous

At this point, I'll show you what it was

The parcel box was this

This is how big it is

and it was thin like a pizza box

It was just about this size

and inside of this parcel box

There was a black box like this

TADA! YouTube!

Literally it was a present from YouTube!

Can you tell what this is?

It's,

It's a YouTube silver button!

Finally the silver button came to me!!

I freaked out seriously!!

I filled out the form to receive this for months ago!

It was too long time ago, so I really forgot this was coming to me

But this one came to my house on Dec 26th, a day after Christmas

WooLara Company

Congratulations on passing 100,000 subscribers!

from YouTube

I feel like this is a Christmas gift from you guys

There's a letter inside too

You've just done something that very few YouTube creators accomplish

Fast forward! :P

Congratulations

During 2017, for one year, (I said 2016 by mistake in Korean...

I've been with you guys for the whole year

and I'm really happy that I could get this within one year!

Thank you for watching my videos for one year!!

and please enjoy my videos in 2018 as well! (I said 2017 in Korean... by mistake T-T)

And here's the latest MERRY CHRISTMAS~!

Feliz Natal, and!

Happy new year everyone~

See you next time! Bye~!

I got my nail done to celebrate Christmas!

There's a snowman on the middle finger

and there's no snowman on the other hand

But there's a Santa Claus here

Bye bye!! NAILS~

I kept on saying this year for 2016, and the next year for 2017.....

So sorry my brain didn't work well :(

17 Tonnes of Spinning Glass: Making the World's Largest Telescope - Duration: 5:17.

I am taking this month off, and while I'm away,

some other folks are taking over my channel.

We start this week with a couple of astronomy and physics majors who,

along with Professor Chris Impey and their team at the University of Arizona,

make a channel called Active Galactic Videos.

Now the video they've sent is a little rough around the edges in places

but the idea is so good that I am genuinely annoyed

that I couldn't go out and film this myself.

So Jenny, Melissa, over to you.

- Hi, I'm Jenny.

- And I'm Melissa, and we're here

underneath the University of Arizona's football stadium

in the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab.

Behind me is the world's largest spinning furnace

filled with 38,000 pounds of molten glass.

- Over the next couple of months,

the glass will slowly cool and start to form a mirror,

one of seven that'll be part of the Giant Magellan Telescope.

Once completed, the GMT will be the largest telescope in the world.

The GMT is being built in Chile

at the Las Campanas Observatory in the Atacama Desert,

and it's scheduled to see first light in 2022.

This massive telescope will have ten times the resolution of the Hubble Space Telescope,

and more than seven times the light-gathering power

of the largest telescopes today.

The GMT is made of seven eight-and-a-half-meter mirrors

for a total diameter of 25 meters,

and it will be used to study galaxies, stars, and exoplanets.

- The GMT-5, which is the mirror being cast right now

is actually the 20th mirror made at this facility.

Other mirrors have been made for other telescopes

like the MMT, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope,

the Twin Magellan telescopes, and the Large Binocular Telescope.

It was built under the stadium to take advantage of the large columns,

which act as load-bearing structures for all of the heavy equipment needed.

It's also nice and quiet when there aren't football games going on.

It's a great way to make football benefit both the university and science.

- To start off, we need 38,540 pounds of glass.

Sand is shipped from all over the world

and brought to Japan, to the Ohara glass factory.

They're the only factory in the world that can make the E6 low-expansion glass

that's needed for the GMT mirrors.

The glass is made in 2,000 pound batches

made exclusively for the University of Arizona.

It takes around two and a half years to make enough glass for a single mirror,

so, you know, plan ahead.

- The glass is then shipped here to Tucson.

Once the mirror lab gets it, they have to clean it, inspect it, and weigh it.

If there are any stresses or imperfections in the glass, then the piece is rejected

and made into paperweights.

- Each individual piece of glass is placed carefully into the mold and inside the oven.

The 40-foot diameter oven is then gradually heated

to a temperature of 1,350 degrees Fahrenheit

over the course of a week.

There are cameras in the oven to monitor the process

but once it begins, there's no turning back.

At this point, the massive oven is filled with 19 tonnes of glass

and starts to spin five revolutions per minute.

Once the oven reaches 2,129 degrees Fahrenheit,

or 1,165 degrees Celsius, the consistency of the glass

is about the same as honey and starts to flow into the mold.

- And it might make sense why we need an oven to melt the glass,

but you might be wondering, "why does it spin?"

- It spins to make the shape we need for a mirror,

a parabola.

Modern telescopes use parabolic mirrors to collect and concentrate light.

They use the parabolic shape to get the light into a central focus point,

and the bigger the mirror, the more light is collected.

- But what does have to do with spinning besides making us dizzy?

Well, let's take a look.

So it turns out that spinning a liquid actually causes it

to automatically become this parabolic shape.

So whenever you spin the glass,

it creates the perfect shape needed for a mirror.

This is a massive improvement over how mirrors used to be made

and it "grinds" years off the process.

The mirror spends three months cooling and annealing in the oven.

So now it's the right shape but it isn't quite done yet.

When light hits the mirror, the surface has to be smoother

than a fraction of the wavelength of light.

Otherwise the image is distorted.

In order to get it this smooth,

the mirror lab spends two years polishing the glass.

It has to be smooth to the point where no imperfection on the surface

is larger than a virus.

After all of that, after melting the glass in this giant oven, and polishing it for two years,

all you have is a huge, really smooth piece of glass.

- So the mirror lab actually doesn't make any mirrors.

- The final step in turning this giant piece of glass

into a mirror is actually done on-site at the observatory.

A layer of aluminum about 100 nanometers thick

is deposited onto the surface.

To cover a mirror of this size,

it actually only takes a soda can's worth of metal.

- Unlike your mirrors at home, the reflective coating

is only on the front surface, so it's very delicate

and needs to be re-aluminized every so many years.

- Thank you to everyone here at the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab

and the Steward Observatory.

Tours are open to the public every day of the week.

- Go subscribe to Active Galactic Videos for more like that.

I would recommend starting with the video

where they get to walk on the dish of the telescope

and yes, I am extremely envious that they got to do that.

Next week, a language video that you are probably going to need subtitles for.

What is Your YouTube Goal? [2018] - Duration: 5:16.

Why do we make YouTube videos?

Is it for fame or fortune or is it for some higher purpose?

Deep down I think every video creator makes videos because they want to make a personal,

emotional connection with the viewer, whoever they are, wherever they may be.

Whether it's to educate people to help them better themselves, inspire people to go beyond

their expectations or express a different way of thinking that makes the viewer question

what they understand about themselves and the universe that surrounds them each and

everyone of us has a message we want to share with people we may never even see.

With over a billion active users watching more than 300 hours of content that's uploaded

every single minute, YouTube truly is the world's open video platform.

If you have a camera, a voice and an idea, someone, somewhere in the world will see it

and hear it.

The question is who do you want to speak to and why?

Fellow video creator Tim Schmoyer summed this up better than I ever could.

Who should be watching and why should they care.

You can't appeal to everyone on YouTube,

Only a fraction of the audience will share your interests and understand your message.

Even YouTube's biggest channels are but a tiny drop in this social media ocean.

But each successful YouTuber knows exactly who they want to speak to and what message

they want to share.

They share it loudly, proudly, passionately and truly live their message each and everyday

with the content they produce and whether you agree with them of not, there are millions

of viewers out there who get their message and want to be a part of it

So if there is one goal above all others that you should have in 2018 it's to find your

audience and spread a message that you truly believe in.

I recently asked YouTubers in our community to share their channel message and this one

spoke out to me more than any other.

It raises a question, it tells you who they are, what they about and why you should care.

A family seeking a life of freedom, venturing into the unknown with challenges to face.

This is a story I want to know more about.

Now this is a small channel, it may never reach out to millions of viewers, but it will

touch the hearts of those who do watch because it's a story about people

These people are now part of a community who want to share that message of freedom and

adventure

And that message has power to change people's lives that is the best feeling in any video

creator's life

The great thing about YouTube is that it's anything and everything you want it to be.

Every video creator starts at zero and we all aim for something, whether it be 10 subscribers,

1000 subscribers, even a million subscribers.

Just make sure it's what you want and not what someone else has.

This story is your story and you are the only one who can tell it, so tell it the best way

you can.

Challenge your own boundaries and make 2018 the year you break through your own fears.

If that means stepping in front the lens for the first to connect personally with your

audience go for it.

If that means live streaming to your viewers without the safety net of a video editor where

people get to see you and all your vulnerabilities go for it.

If that means stepping out into the world and not caring what anyone thinks, you go

for it

If that means learning a new way to film, or mastering a new piece of software or reaching

out to other YouTubers and collaborating, well I think you know what I'm going to say

by now, go for it.

As you well now, the message we spread on this channel is to help you, the video creator,

get more views in less time.

We can tell you how enhance SEO for your videos, we can teach you the value of playlists, we

can help research trending topics and how to capitalize on them, but what we can't tell

you is your story.

Everytime you click on one of our videos you see another small part of our story.

Our story has grown and evolved into something we never could have imagined over 2017 and

we can't wait to start writing new chapters for 2018.

We know who is watching our videos and who is using our tools.

You help shape this story like all viewers, subscribers and commenters on any Youtube

channel.

That ultimately is the end goal.

We know why you care.

Enjoy your video making year...

make it the best one yet.

THANKS FOR 2017! - Duration: 2:12.

Hello and welcome to a new video!

I want to start this video to say thanks!

Thank you so much for 2017!

2017 was not the best year, but it was a good year.

I never thought I would get over 700 subscribers in less than a year,

in just 8 months.

Now I will tell you a bit about my channel.

On April 13, I uploaded a one minute long video titled "Welcome to my channel."

There, I talked about what my channel would be about.

One day later, on 14 April, I uploaded a Q&A, it became very popular.

It now has nearly 1 500 views.

On April 15, it became the biggest change on my channel, I would do a series of Hydra.

One would ask a question about Hydra and I would answer it.

The first video of Hydra came out April 16, and then I have continued to make such videos,

until some told me to do as Hydra,

namely to roast.

The series (about Hydra) ended on 30 April.

My first roast-video uploaded on May 4 where I roasted THboi,

now he is called THEO.

Since then I have continued to roast.

Altogether, I have uploaded 72 videos, and received over 33,000 views 2017.

I know it's not much, but it's still a lot.

Now I'll tell you what I will continue to do and not do in this year.

What I will do this year is to continue to roast people, of course.

What I should NOT do this year is that I do not roast people they don't want it, for example, if you want me to roast a person,

and the person does not want it so I do not do it.

Suggest your own channel instead!

I hope that 2018 will be a much better year than 2017!

That's all for me!

Remember - like and share the video and subscribe to my channel.

Have a good one! (Happy New Year!)
