In today's video I'm going to go over making a simple YouTube card. And I'm
going to do this using DaVinci Resolve and a few other programs. So if you want
to learn more about how to make a simple YouTube end card, stay tuned.
First let me explain what a YouTube end card is. A YouTube end card, when you
upload a video to YouTube, at the very end of it it's going to give you some
special things that you can do to help encourage your audience to subscribe and
to watch some of your more videos. So one of the things that I'm going to show you
is what that is real quick. So I'm on my YouTube channel here. I'm in the video
manager and I'm going to go into one of the videos I've done. And I'm gonna go
into edit mode. Now in edit mode you have several options up here and this one
says in screen and annotation. So we're going to go in there. And this is where
you're gonna put in your end card, which is, the last 20 seconds of your video is
going to be where you can put a subscriber, you can put a video that is
best for viewers to watch, a video of the most recent upload and you can add 3 to
4 elements. I just happen to like to use the subscriber and then use the best
video for the viewer, what they what YouTube thinks they might like to watch
this on my channel and my most recent upload. So once you get an end card, which
is something you put in in the edit area, put it on there. That way these things
don't go on top of your video, they go on a card at the end. Which can be pictures,
it can be a video, it can be a combination. Now I made a combination for
mine. And let me show you how it's done. I have
the subscriber coming on first. And then just a little bit later I have the
videos. So let me show you a preview of that how that works.
That's a subscriber button. And then the two videos show up. So that's what's
gonna be at the end of my video. And go ahead and turn that off. So that is what
we're aiming for at the end of the video that's going to show up. So let me go
ahead and close out of that, and I'm going to show you how I did that.
First you're gonna go to Canva or any other video or graphic program you like. I
used canva because it was really simple. And I went ahead and made this one up in
advance to show you how I did it. First thing you want to do is you want to go
with the video size. I always use 1920 x 1080 which is the HD video size. And that
works really good, pretty much on on everything. If I want to put it on
YouTube, but then also if I want to put it on another platform. That one is HD
size so it's going to look really good on people's TVs, on their large computer
screens. Now when you go into Canva make it 1920 x 1080. And then just kind of
design it however you want. But make sure, you see all this white background here,
all this white background is where I'm gonna put a video in the back. So like on
the first one I put thanks for watching. And then I downloaded a copy of that. And
then I take the words and I put please
subscribe. And then you save it and you download a copy of that. Now after you
get whatever you want to say on it, you can design it however you like depending
on your basic style and your needs. You know put whatever you want. Put please
subscribe, thank you for watching, check out my website, just whatever you want.
But make sure to leave a lot of white space back here because that is where
your video is going to show. Now if you have the paid version of Canva, you can
download right from here with a transparent background. If you do not, and
here's a little trick I'm going to show you, you can actually
go over here to a another website called Pixlr.com. And Pixlr.com is a great
place, it's kind of like a photoshop it's another free thing. So I'm going to start
out by doing create new image. And I'm going to pick my size.
It's 1920 x 1080 and I'm going to make sure to hit transparent background. Click
OK. And that it should be the same size as your Canva picture. Now I'm going
to hit file, and I'm going to open one of the images I downloaded from canva. End card
demo open. Now, I'm going to take that one and I'm going to click Edit, select all,
edit, copy. Now I'm going to go ahead and close that. I don't need to save that. And
then once I click on this image, I'm going to put edit, and I'm going to go to
paste. Now as you can see it fits in there perfectly. So I'm going to go over
to this little tool right here. It's called the wand tool. I'm gonna click
that. And then I click the big white area, which selects all the white, and I'm
going to hit the delete button. Therefore giving me a transparent background area
where my video can show through. And then go to file, and just save the image and
rename it. And you're going to do that with any of the images that you
downloaded from Canva. One for "thanks for watching", one "please subscribe". So you
do that with each of the images. Now we're going to take this in to DaVinci
Resolve and we're going to turn it into a little end card video. Okay, now we're
in DaVinci Resolve. And I'm going to include all the links to all these
programs down in the bottom, in my comment section, or in the description. So
that you can find them. DaVinci Resolve is a video editing
system it's really great. And I went into media down here, it says media, and I'm
gonna pull my media in that I want to use for my end card. Now I'm going to
start with pulling in a video that I found. And make sure any video, graphics,
music, anything like that, that you can use it for commercial use. Because you
don't want to get tagged on something as simple as an end card. So I'm gonna grab
my video I want to use. I'm gonna pull it down here.
Don't change the frame rate. Okay, I'm gonna pull in a song. I'm gonna pull in a
little recording that I made saying, "thanks for watching, please subscribe". And
I'm gonna pull in my two graphics. Now one thing I will tell you about the
graphics, it's very important. If you name them like 'end card 1' and 'end card 2',
DaVinci Resolve is going to see them as the same thing. And it's only going to
show you one picture in here. It's gonna say two of one. So make sure you name
them completely different. This one I named 'subscribe to our channel'. And this
one I named 'thanks for watching'. And as you can see from the side there,
it's a little bit messy. But this is for demo purposes. I probably would have
cleaned it a bit more for the final product. But a lot of that will not
matter in the final product, that little bits of white, because of the video in
the background but, you'll see. Let's pull that down. So those are the five things I
need. I need my video. I need the two graphics that I made up
using Canva and Pixlr. And, like I said, I'm adding sound. And I'm also adding
sound of me saying "thanks for watching". Now I'm going to go over to the 'Edit' tab.
And you can see, all my stuff is already up here and ready to use. I'm going to
start off by pulling in my video. Now the video needs to be about 20 seconds. So
I'm gonna get it in here, and I'm going to cut it down. Let's pull that down.
And it says it's at 1 right now and I need to go to where this says 20. So I'm
gonna drag this over to about this line right here. And I know there is probably
an easy way to get it right on 20. But I just kind of eyeball it. Now, I'm going to
take this razor blade, right here, you can see my cursor pointing at it. I'm gonna
clip right here next to the line. And then I'm gonna go back to my arrow,
select this section of video. and hit delete. So now my video is basically
about 20 seconds long, which is what's needed for an end card. I'm gonna drag
this back to the front and I'm gonna pick my first graphic. I want to use
'thanks for watching'. So I'm going to left click, and hold, and drag it down here. And
I want to drag it until it's right up against the beginning. Now I want this to
be round about five seconds long, which it is. So when you click on it you can
see it's about five seconds long. And then I'm going to grab my second graphic.
And I'm going to grab it, and drag it, so that it that's right up against there.
And then I grab the end of it and i'm gonna stretch it all the way out. Until it's the
same as the video. So now we've got this long thing, as I'm dragging it through,
you can see it goes, 'thanks for watching'. And it says 'subscribe to our channel',
with a little video going in the background. Now I want to put a
transition in between the two. So I'm going to go over here to 'video
transitions'. And I'm gonna go down. And I think I'm going to do 'edge wipe'. I really
like that one. So, I'm going to put edge wipe right here where the two videos
connect. Now when you go back, if you push play, you can watch as it goes past 'edge
wipe'. Watch up in the top section here and you'll see the words change. Let's
get that going. "Thanks for watching", "subscribe to our channel". How nice and
smooth that looks. And you can see the video going in the background
there is really neat. let me go ahead and stop that. Now I'm going to add audio to
this. The first one I'm going to add is, I'm going to add my song. The little
music I picked out for it. I'm going to drag it down here, and I want to make
sure it goes all the way, all the way up against the thing. And that's really long
so it's going to stretch it out. So I'm going to drag it all the way back. And
then make sure and push the back button. When you push the back button, the first
back, when you push this the first time, it'll go just to the edge of the video.
Which is very handy. Because now I can grab the razor blade, go down here to the
audio, and click it, go to the pointer, and then select that video I just clipped,
and hit delete. Now I'm going to go, and I'm going to click on that, and I'm gonna
drag that audio down a little bit. Because that's going to be kind of loud.
So I'm just gonna drag it down just a little bit. Now let's see how it sounds.
It's gonna make a little funny noise, but let's go.
That sounds really nice and pleasant.
All right, that looks good. Now I'm going to do one more thing. I'm going to drag
in the audio that I picked that I actually spoke. So I'm going to drag that
down, and make sure it goes all the way up against it. And as you can see, it's
not as long as the other one. So I'm going to take, again, because it stopped
right here at the end. I'm going to take the razor blade and I'm going to cut the
first audio in half. And the reason I'm doing this is because my voice is going
to be drowned out by the music. So I'm going to take the first part of that
audio, and I'm going to take the sound down even a little bit more. Let's see if
I got it down right because I'm doing it by eyeball here. And let's push play. (video: If

And I think that looks pretty good.
There we go. And that's how you put all the elements
together. Now you can do a lot more. You can make your audio sound different, not
talking over it, you can make the audio louder, you can even make it fade in and
out with your audio. Also, like I said, I would have cleaned up this graphic a bit
more when I was, you know, in Canva or blurred it out more. But for
demonstration purposes I wanted to keep this kind of short. So now that we've got
our two graphics, our video, and then we've got the audio at two different
rates, and my talking, we're going to go down here to deliver. And deliver. Now on
deliver, this is where you're going to kind of compile this all into one big
thing. The first thing you want to pick is where your video is going. Now it does
have things if you want to send it into Final Cut Pro, Vimeo, YouTube. But I want
to keep this basically how it is. Because I want to have the copy on my computer.
So I'm going to browse, and I'm gonna pick my data folder. Because that's where
I like to save all of my new things. Click OK, I want it to be export video,
format, I'm going to pick mp4. And as you can see there's plenty of options there.
And I'm going to then add it to the render queue. Now it's added over here to
render queue. All of the components are in there. So I'm going to start render.
Which is going to go through and it's going to compress all this into an mp4
for me. As you can see, it's kind of playing in fast motion up at the top
while I'm doing it. It just takes just a second. With a 20 second clip, it's not
that long. And I will probably go, it came out to about 19 seconds I think, so that
won't be bad. Now let's go and have a look at my finished video. I'm going to
open up my folder here, I'm gonna go into data, and let me find it. It was untitled.
I'm pretty sure that one's it. Yep, looks like it. Okay,
Here we go. Let's see how it looks. (video: if you found this video helpful be sure and
