North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, a man who spent most of 2017 threatening to engulf the

world in a nuclear war, appears to be trying to soften his image as 2018 dawns.

If a kinder, gentler Kim might be too much to hope for, at least a sane, professional

Kim might be in the works.

And it�s a good bet the world has President Donald Trump to thank for it.

As the U.K. Daily Mail pointed out in a piece published Jan. 2, Kim a �has been pictured

in a Western-style grey suit and tie after ditching his father�s trademark outfits,

prompting speculation he is trying to soften his image.�

And it�s not just in appearances � the dictator�s behavior is changing radically,

too. The new look comes as Pyongyang�s pariah regime is also putting new feelers out to

the outside world. Kim has reached out to South Korea about cross-border communications,

for instance.

On Tuesday, the two Koreas announced that the North would be sending a delegation to

the Winter Olympics in February in PyeongChang, South Korea, according to NBC.

So, after last year�s increasingly hostile exchange of insults with Trump, Kim might

now be trying to convince the world he�s not the utterly deranged lunatic he�s simply

been pretending to be all this time.

�Kim Jong-Un�s silver Western-style suit and horn-rimmed glasses, as well as the fact

that he was not wearing a badge of his grandfather and father, shows his confidence and stability,�

Professor Yang Moo-jin of the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul told Agence

France-Presse.

�It signals that he is in control.�

Sure, it might signal that. But it more likely signals that Kim is finally getting the idea

that tin-pot despots like himself (and the murderous mullahs in Iran, and the terrorist

giving in to their tantrums.

Kim came to power in 2011. At that time, the United States was led by President Barack

Obama, whose foreign policy of appeasement (implemented by his then-Secretary of State

The young dictator-in-training might be forgiven for thinking that his adolescent outbursts

were going to keep on being tolerated by a frightened world.

But as he�s surely learned over the past year � and particularly over the past month

� that the Trump White House is a far cry from the nursery school days of the Obama

administration.

As CNN reported Monday, the Seventh Fleet is not only still an ominous presence for

Kim in the waters off the Korean Peninsula, it�s boosting its attack powers.

At the White House, of course, Trump has shown no signs of backing away from Kim�s threats.

Given those realities, and the fortuitous approach of the Winter Olympics bringing an

international stage only 50 miles from his southern border, Kim no doubt thinks the new

year brings a new chance to get himself out of the box his nuclear ambitions have put

him in.

Not everyone is convinced, of course.

�There has been a lot of speculation that he is trying to make North Korea look more

modern and connected. His father�s Mao suits looked ridiculous in the 21st century,�

Robert Kelly, a political science professor at South Korea�s Pusan National University,

told The New York Times.

�It�s a flimflam� Just a show.�

Probably. But it�s still a show that�s preferable to a froth-mouthed lunatic threatening

the world with nuclear holocaust, or threatening to bring death down on his own people.

And for that makeover, the world can likely thank Donald Trump.

Dress in something that makes you feel amazing.

In this video we'll learn how to select colors and use the color popover in procreate 4.

Over here in the top corner is the color that I'm currently using.

Black.

If you tap on it, you'll get a color popover where you can choose your color . It uses

a Hue Saturation Value color disc.

Each color is made up of a Hue (the base color) a Saturation (strength of the color) and a

value (how dark or bright is the color).

Combine all three and you get you'll get a color.

Now let's try this in procreate.

The ring of color is the hue.

Hue is the base or pure color.

All different shades and tints of red have the same hue.

If you tap on the ring and drag around the ring you're changing the hue.

Also the colors in the circle will change.

The circle represents the saturation and value.

Saturation is how pure the color is or the strength of the color and that's represented

by going left or right.

Tap inside the circle and drag to the right to increase saturation, that's paint out

of the tube, pure color, all pure red pigments here, that's as red as I can get in this

program.

If you go left, you're decreasing saturation.

you can imagine you're mixing the paint with white paint, the red color gets weaker

or less until you get no pigments, just black, white, or grey and that brings us to value.

Value is the darkness or brightness.

If you take away the hue and saturation, you'll get a greyscale.

It's like looking at a black and white photo.

In the circle if you drag up, you're increasing value.

That means your color is getting lighter or brighter.

If you drag down, you're decreasing the value until you get black.

Here's another color wheel.

I just tap on classic down at the bottom.

You have your hue, saturation, and value.

See works same way.

I like the disc better because it helps me thinks about color.

Now that you know how the color disc works, when you're playing around with it, you're

mind will also be thinking about how values and saturation works.

Try picking a different color and test out different brushes.

Do you remember how we played around with brushes in the previous video?

Brushes also react differently to color.

Some just go over and replace another color.

Some change colors as it goes over.

And some mix more like paint changing color and changing the texture.

pretty cool right?

A cool trick you can do is to tap and drag the color out and let go.

It will do what's called a fill.

Like this.

notice it replaces whatever color you drop it on with your new color.

It will replace it until it means an edge.

That's where the color changes.

So if you do a line work first then you can fill it in with this technique.

There's also another way to choose a color without opening your color popover.

If you hold the modify button and tap anywhere on the canvas an eyedropper loupe will appear.

The current color is the bottom half and the top half is the new color.

drag around to pick a color from your canvas and let go.

Now the new color is selected.

You can also bring up the eyedropper by using one finger.

Just tap and hold anywhere on the canvas and wait for the eyedropper loupe to appear.

There's actually a lot you can do with your fingers and using gestures.

But we'll go over that in the next video.

Ok. so review time.

The ring is your hue.

The circle or disc in the middle is the saturation going left to right.

Increase saturation for more pure color.

Decrease saturation and you're reducing the color strength.

Drag up and down for the value.

Increase value for more brightness almost getting white and decrease value for more

darkness until you get to black.

Color is a huge topic that I'm still trying to learn.

But if you can think about Hue Saturation and Value as you're picking colors, then

you're already made a big step.

If it's confusing, don't worry, I had trouble wrapping my head around it even after

finishing art school.

Ok, maybe I wasn't the best student.

But color is a lot more complicated than you might think.

But i encourage you to play around.

Try using different hues of similar saturation or use just one hue but change the saturation

and values.

Or try drawing with only values and make a black and white drawing.

So that's it for using the color popover and selecting colors in procreate
