Hi guys, um please excuse my appearance. I know I look pretty you know, tired -not that
great. But I wanted to talk about something that has been going on uh
basically in the small YouTuber community for the past few days now. I think this came
out on Wednesday I believe. Basically YouTube came out with a new policy
basically against small youtubers. You now have to have one thousand
subscribers and four thousand minutes of watch time to be able to be eligible for
monetization. And basically monetization is how you get paid through ads when you
do YouTube. If you haven't noticed my channel is not at a thousand
subscribers, so I'm going to be hit by this and affected by this. I know a lot
of small youtubers really - I mean it depends on the channel how much money
you make. You could have 500 subscribers but if
you have videos that are widely viewed - and say you put out a video and it gets
50,000 views that right there you probably get like $50 or something like
that off of the video. And if you're someone like me who has been doing
YouTube for two years constantly, you've been putting out a video a week
for about a year and now for about um you know eight months I've been putting
out two videos a week - then obviously it's gonna affect me. I don't have the
subscribers but I really i far surpass the watch time for twelve months. I'm at
like - I have a lot of watch time. Um, people watch my videos it's just it's
hard to get people to subscribe, so that's the issue that my channel is facing, I
need to reach 1000 subscribers. I believe it is by the end of February when
they're implementing these rules. So yeah, it's incredibly disheartening
because I've already at I think 50 dollars in Ad revenue money for doing YouTube
for two years on a weekly basis which you know, I think
it's pretty good. I think it's not too bad, right? If I don't reach a
thousand subscribers YouTube will still be paying me that, but usually YouTube
would pay you your amount when you reach a hundred dollars for the first time, and
I was hoping that when I did reach 100 dollars that would go towards buying
myself a new wheelchair, because um I don't even have a wheelchair usually I
use wheelchairs when I go to the store and that's how I get around, but I've been
planning it for very long time and I need to buy a wheelchair. So basically
since this came out I think on Wednesday I believe, I have been working my butt
off trying to get people to subscribe to my channel. I have been commenting on
people's Twitter threads to subscribe for subscribe, I've been trying to get
people on Twitter to subscribe to my channel and stay subscribed to my
channel. Um, I've been trying to get people on Instagram to subscribe to me,
I've even went on tumblr. And on Instagram I actually messaged a few Chronic Illness
youtubers who i know about who had, who have channels and you know a solid
following. Um, I messaged Amy Lee Fisher - some of you may know of her, she has
a pretty big following on Instagram and quite a large group also on YouTube
following her, so I messaged her and I'm like' hey are you aware of these rules?'
and what not, could you please help me out because I need to get to 1,000
subscribers' - and she was absolutely you know, amazing and super- just she's
amazing and she said yes of course I'll help you out, and she shared my channel
to her Instagram story and she got a whole bunch of her followers to
subscribe to my youtube channel which helped me out so much. I'm also kind of
worried with the YouTube Partner Program once they take away monetization I
will no longer be a part of the program, but they
haven't been quite specific on what exactly I will lose when I'm no longer part of
the YouTube Partner Program. Will I just lose monetization? Will I have the
ability to caption my videos? Can I still use cards and end screens? Like I don't
know they've been kind of vague on that so um, my biggest concern is obviously
losing monetization which is a sure thing that they said is gonna happen but
I'm also kind of scared that um I'll lose the ability to caption my videos,
which as you guys know I worked really hard to be able to caption my videos and
try to do that and I still have a goal of captioning all my videos by the end
of 2018 so. So yeah, I'm just making you guys aware of the changes that YouTube
is doing. Like I've been trying everything I can to get people to
subscribe to me. I've currently gained about 70 subscribers so when I started I
was at 520 I am now at 600 so I'm actually doing pretty good, I only have
about 400 more subscribers to go before I reach a thousand, which it definitely
seems like a lot and is 100% a daunting number, but I really hope at some point I
can reach a thousand. I have seen some people that had around 500 and are
reaching a 1000 so I have hope and I'm not going to give up. If you guys could get people
to subscribe to me in like anyways you can - like if you could share my channel
either on your Instagram, your Facebook, your Twitter and ask people to subscribe
to me - that would be amazing, it would absolutely mean the world to me. Um, and
you can comment down below your channel and ask me to Subscribe to you and I will
subscribe to you, and I also I promise I will not be unsubscribing from anyone. So
thank you for watching this video and I really do hope to see you guys next time.
