Waching daily Dec 15 2018

On snow most features are set up to hit from the side. That style can be called

Urban Style Jibbing. Getting used to hopping on the Balance Bar from the side

will help build the technique and confidence to make it happen on snow.

Make sure you can get on the balance bar with it between your legs and your

counter-rotated 180's are dialled. Before attempting to jump on step on, one leg at

a time. Having your weight on your further foot

will help lift your closer foot onto the Balance Bar. Follow it by bringing your

other leg up to have your feet parallel on the balance bar. Try this a few times

to get familiar with the feeling. To pop off with both feet, lean forward and roll back

onto your tails creating an Ollie like motion, to keep your noses from catching.

In order to land centred on the Balance Bar, you'll have to travel

sideways. Push slightly harder off your further leg in order to help get your

distance. At the top of your jump begin counter-rotating your arm to align your

ski across the Balance Bar. Remember to be patient otherwise you may catch your tips.

Once you're on the bar keep your balance so your tips and tails don't

touch the ground. The end goal is to get both feet taking off the ground and

landing on the bar at the same time. To help with balance try absorbing the

impact getting on and off the Balance Bar by getting low, flexing at the ankles,

knees and hips. When hitting rails on snow each feature may have a different

take off, therefore you may need to be closer or further from the rail.

To make things as realistic as possible practice, starting closer and further

from the Balance Bar. Remember to always practice both sides for your continuous

progression. Follow the same steps to gain confidence and control. Once you

have both sides comfortable try mixing them together in creative lines, taking

off and landing on different sides of the Balance Bar.

I'm Dean Bercovitch from Ski Addiction.

Kirby - Drawcia Sorceress & the Scientist [🎷Sax Cover Story📖] - Duration: 3:42.

The stranded girl adjusted the wide-brimmed conical hat she had been given.

...The material felt too insubstantial compared to her visor and mech suit.

Yet, all her technology was now inoperable...too low on power to function.

When the frightening wings of the sphere doomers swarmed her...

She had planned to seize the energy sphere they sought to devour.

...yet she made a fundamental miscalculation, failing to subdue them.

But, mystical rays of color burst from thin air, whisking her to a safehouse.

The stranded girl found herself in some sort of painter's studio...

Yet, this girl had no time to appreciate art.

The only thing that motivated this girl was the dream of the stars...to return home.

Could she convince her savior to let her leave?

Her savior had dressed the stranded girl in painter's clothes.

A fluffy smock with cloud-lined cotton edges...a conical hat with yellow ribbons

pantaloons with rainbow tips, the right leg cool and the left leg warm.

While her savior herself wore brilliant violets, blues, and gold fringes.

...the stranded girl admired something in the colors...

...it reminded her of father, furthering her resolve to return home.

The stranded girl drew the courage to speak:

"Can you help me? I am far from home and family."

The stranded girl could feel her savior's smile hidden behind a violet kerchief

She replied: "We are indeed far from home, sister, but no longer from one another."

The robed woman reached for a lock of the girl's pink hair, breathing deeply.

She sighed ecstatically: "This is the same bubblegum I remember, sister."

The girl shied away. "What are you talking about? I am not your sister."

(And yet...the purple in the woman's hair...reminded her so much of father...)

The older woman looked pained, but quickly regained her cheerful demeanor.

"You have forgotten yourself, dearest sister."

"But this is not an unprecedented response to living in Another Dimension"

"This ugly realm devoid of the beauty of the rainbow of color..."

"it's enough to drive anyone insane, really?"

The painter threw out a sleeve to her side, and out came a majestic paintbrush.

She turned back to the girl, a glint of passion in her eye...

"But the gods have blessed me with the gift of creation, and recreate we shall!"

The stranded girl noticed something strange about the paintbrush...

The hum of her rebooting tech confirmed: this stick radiated the energy of stars!

How could such an artifact contain such power?

...yet, her suit lapped up the energy ravenously all the same.

but she needed to buy time before she made her move...

"Yes," she began, "I understand now that we are destined for greatness!"

"For I too have desired since I was little to transform this world with my family."

She reached out an arm to the painter. "Please let me paint with you that world."

The painter cackled in glee: "Yes, my dearest Paintra! Paint with me!"

As the girl grabbed the paintbrush, her visor reported: Systems fully charged!

The girl activated her mechanical grip to wrest the paintbrush from the painter.

"I do hope you find your sister...but my name is Susanna Patrya Haltmann."

"And I will harness this energy to turn this universe into a mechanical marvel!"

The interplay and interworkings of magic and technology in the Kirby universe

are so fundamental to that universe that I had to investigate it.

Definitely keep on the lookout for Star Allies covers, which will dive deeper into this.

and if you haven't already checked them out, check out my other Kirby cover stories...

and finally, none of this would have been possible without my classical sax co-conspirators

Gamer of the Winds on soprano sax,

and insaneintherainmusic on bari sax.

Rachel Oates Gives Tips for a Mentally Healthy Christmas - Duration: 13:44.

hey everyone my name is Rachel and before we get started I want to extend a

huge thank you to Chris for letting me have this little feature on his channel

and give me a little shout out like this he's incredible I've loved his channel

for I don't know how long I've been watching now but pretty outfit Lee I'll

tell you that he's also done a really amazing video

that's over on my channel if you wanna go see that my name is Rachel oh it says

probably a link in the description down below as well and if you don't know me I

usually talk about like Science Easter I'm kind of 8 years and you stuff but

also like social stuff lots of like pro-lgbt lots of pro kind of like

talking about mental health stuff and it just is very varied you know I'm just

bit all over the place I am someone who suffered with issues around depression

and anxiety in the past I've been medicated for probably the last six or

so years years and I still am now so talking about my experiences with that

something that I'd quite like to share with you guys and talk about like what's

affected me in the past and how I've worked through it and gotten over things

and how I'm in such a good place now and I want to kind of like share my

experiences to try and help some of you guys out who might be in a similar sort

of position or her friends who are in that kind of position as well and kind

of mostly to let people know that you know there are other people going

through the same stuff and there is a way out and there is a way that things

get better and hopefully try and help a few people like giving them some like

coping mechanisms and little hints and tips along the way and that's why I want

to talk about today because Christmas is such a stressful time anyway and

especially for people with mental health problems like depression or anxiety like

I had or any range of things I know that kind of winter Christmastime always used

to be horrific for me it used to bring me down it was so difficult to get

through and so today I'm gonna try and share a few little tips that helped me

get through the holiday season that hopefully might help some of you as well

obviously not all these tips are going to be perfect for everyone and but if

you guys have any other suggestions I'm not going to talk about today just drop

them in the comments below we can start a really cool conversation about this

share your experience there share your stories share what helped you and that

would be really great my first bit of advice for looking after your month

health during the holiday season is to simply talk to people whoever you're

spending Christmas with whether it's your family or friends talk to them if

you can tell them what you're going through tell them how they can help

support you I never used to do this I used to try and hide it from everyone

and kind of suffer through it on my own and honestly it made everything ten

times worse I remember those as worn Christmas where

I just like I couldn't face anyone and I spent the entirety of Boxing Day like

locked in my old bedroom at my parents house like trying to sleep just kind of

shut everything out and when I did eventually emerge at like 8:00 p.m. at

night my entire family was mad at me for ignoring them all day and it caused a

big argument it just made me worse if I'd actually spoken to them and told

them what was going on with me they wouldn't have been so judgmental or

angry they would have been there to support me and maybe I wouldn't have had

quite so crappy at Christmas I know it's not always easy for people to talk to

their family or their friends and I know it's not always possible but on the

whole I think it's really good to give people a chance most people are way more

understanding and you expect them to be a once they kind of understand what

you're going through or understand how to like notice certain little like maybe

warning signs with you or notice and little things like maybe you're not

quite feeling yourself or you're not feeling your best they can be there to

say okay Jim I'll just go off and have 10-15 minutes by yourself or they can be

there to support you or help you in whatever way I find just been really

open and honest with the people around you always helps my second bit of advice

and this might not be one for everyone and also for some people it might be one

that's really difficult to follow but my second bit of advice is to avoid all

limit how much alcohol you're drinking especially if you're on medication for

me when I first started taking citalopram I couldn't have like a glass

of wine without it really affecting my mood and bring me down and making me

super anxious and it just it messed me up completely I had no idea where my

tolerance for alcohol was going to be I had no idea how it was really going to

affect my mood if it was gonna you know give me this incredible high or bring me

on this like horrific low he just exaggerated everything I was feeling

when I started on the medication now I'm in a better place where I'm on

sertraline and while I still shouldn't be drinking

with it I can have like a glass of wine every now and again or a glass of wine

with a meal or a little cocktail for fun and I know that it's not gonna kind of

affect me because I'm in this better place and I'm pretty stable now and put

up my lowest points I found that not drinking alcohol really really helped to

help me stay in control of my moods and help me understand how I was feeling

better it stopped me having these big highs and lows and spikes I mean even if

you're not medicated or taking any kind of medication alcohol is a depressant

which if we're going to put this really really simply basically means it slows

down everything in your brain it can't seem to be helping at first especially

if you have anxiety because it can seem to be making you feel a little bit more

relaxed and chilled out these kind of like positive effects really don't last

long and then afterwards you get these like Oh horrific heightened feelings of

anxiety or depression it really heightens the lows if that makes sense

and commit you feel so much worse so I find that the best thing to do if

you're worried about your mental health or having one of these like low points

or a pat or if you're worried about panic attacks coming on anything like

that the best thing is to try and stay in control of your body and that means

avoiding alcohol we're also avoiding drugs and things

like that and anything that is like a mood altering substance I know it's

tough when you know you maybe want to have a glass of wine with Christmas

dinner but if that's the case and you still want to enjoy yourself a bit maybe

just pour yourself half a glass instead of a full one something like that and

just be very aware of how it is affecting you while you're drinking it

never feel any pressure to drink anything you don't want to and know

where your limits are if you want to find out a little bit more about the

effects of alcohol on depression anxiety you know the mental health issues and

I'll provide some links which I think Kris is going to pop down in the

description for you guys you can read a little bit more about it you know from

someone who is more knowledgeable than me my third bit of advice might sound

really really simple but this was a life changer for me and let's just simply

plan in advance one of the big things that would always trigger panic attacks

for me and I used to get them really badly I have one of the things that

triggered it for me was feeling out of control so taking control of Christmas

really helped me it's Oh God it's such a crazy time right

cuz honored by anyone else but every Christmas for me I have to take like at

least three trains to go visit my family and there was really long they're always

like really crowded stations it's always so busy I usually end up stood on the

train for like three hours and it's just it's a nightmare and I have to like haul

my presents up there as well really heavy I was always worried about money

so I can't do those can't do this booking trains but uh and now I'd

actually get to Peniston and I would be so stressed about seeing people I went

to school with and I just like I have all this anxiety building up and I can't

tell you the number of train stations around this country that I've cried on

it's an embarrassing number so couple of things that helped me there was to start

planning early in advance that meant booking trains early so I'd actually get

a seat and not be stood up on the trains it meant planning my route really

carefully to have like the minimum number of changes but also giving plenty

of time between train changes to take into account like late trains and I

wouldn't be rushing around the stations and stuff like that another thing I did

was instead of doing my Christmas shopping in person now I do it all

online so I can just get everything sent up to my parents house in South

Yorkshire and it's all waiting for me there when I go up on Christmas Eve and

all I need to do is unpack it and wrap it all up and it's all done ready so

there's no looking big bags across the country it's just I go up with a

rucksack now and Kyra obviously and down and and it's just it's easy for us it's

so much easier and so I don't have to wait around in Sheffield for like an

hour and a half waiting for a train and they get in a long train back to tennis

turns on and I asked my sister for help and now she picks me up at the train

station so I don't have to spend as much time worrying about bumping into people

I don't want to see it's the little things but planning like that in advance

gives me a sense of being more in control it means there's less stuff to

go wrong there's less unexpected stuff and it just makes everything so much

more easier and simpler for me and I'm less prone to panic attacks now which is

very very good of course it is important remember that you can't control

everything chances are some things are going to go

wrong in which case have a contingency plan and have some little techniques in

place if you feel your anxiety rising you know

how to calm yourself down for me it's a series of breathing exercises and

counting exercises that really help kind of I always say it's kind of resets my

brain that's that's what really helped me but there are some great apps out

there like headspace and calm home and stuff like that figure out what works

best for you and have them ready to go if you do feel do you feel your anxiety

rising that means as soon as you feel a panic attack coming on you can stop

dinners tracks you're ready you're prepared

it's all about feeling in control and taking control because you can do that

you have the power and the skill to do that and in a similar vein to this make

sure that if you are taking medication make sure you've got enough to see you

over the Christmas period usually if you are gonna run out while you're away you

can go to a pharmacy or your doctor early and get a little bit extra to kind

of tide you over if you're going to be away but again make sure you're prepared

you're not forgetting your medication you're definitely taking it with you

you've got the correct doses you've got the right amount just double-check

before you leave and finally my last little bit of advice which again might

sound really simple but it's one that I always used to forget so it's something

that's kind of worth reminding yourself of is don't overload yourself Christmas

is stressful at the best of times when you're dealing with mental health issues

it can be a nightmare don't feel like you owe it to everyone else to do this

and do this and do this and do this just take a step back and remember that

Christmas should be about having fun and relaxing and you deserve to do that it

doesn't have to be about everyone else it can just be about you doing what you

want to do or what you don't want to do you know if you just want to sit there

and veg out for a week you do that you don't owe it to anyone to do anything

fancy or go to these club nights or go here or do this same thing with buying

presents if you're worried about money only buy what you can afford people are

going to appreciate that you put in thought rather than that you've you know

gone into debt to them don't feel forced to go on nights out don't feel like you

have to do anything drink anything take anything that you're not comfortable

with if you're visiting family and staying with them only stay you know the

minimum number of nights that you feel comfortable with don't force yourself

they're longer if it's going to make you unhappy it is okay to say no to people

it's important that you know your limits you know what you can

you can't do and you kind of live within those limits again this goes back to

talking to the people around you if you explain to them why you can or can't do

certain things they'll be way more understanding if you

say sorry I can't really face a club tonight you guys go out without me or

sorry I don't really want to go to the pub maybe we could have you know a

little game night in instead or something like that

so yeah I'm gonna end up there I know some of these seemed a little bit basic

but they're things that really really helped me over the Christmas period and

they still do you know it's what the 13th of December at the minute and I've

already got my train tickets booked I've got my plan while I'm up there all in

place I got all my Christmas presents for and ready at my parents house

waiting to be wrapped I am sorted which means these next like

two weeks before Christmas I can just sit back and relax go to the pub with my

friends on a night if you want have some film nights in with them you know I'm

I'm just relaxing and enjoying this because I've already got my plan in

place and I feel good about it you know I mean there's honestly a lot more that

I could suggest or you know stories I could tell you guys about things that

have helped and things that haven't helped but honestly everyone's different

and I think the biggest bit of advice I can give you is just understand yourself

understand what works for you understand what doesn't what triggers you what

helps you who can help you Christmas can be stressful but it shouldn't have to be

it should just be about relaxing and having fun and enjoying yourself you

deserve to have that you deserve to have a break and if you are feeling stressed

or you are a low point just remember that it's just Christmas in the grand

scheme of things it doesn't really matter it'll be over in a couple of

weeks and we'll be another one along next year so it's not really a big deal

you don't have to worry about it that much and it's okay to kind of take a

step back from things and say no this year I need to focus on me and my health

because that's what's important but anyway I'm kind of rambling at this

point hopefully this least helps so if you guys a little bit or gave you an

idea of how you can help yourselves or other people I don't know but like I say

share your advice or how you deal with kind of looking after your mental health

at Christmas noble holiday period share those ideas down in the comments below

because I definite want to hear some of your stories and

advice and what you guys have been through don't forget to go check out my

channel and Christmas video over there and before I finish once again a huge

thank you to Chris for popping me on his channel like this it's a really great

opportunity I know I'm not as cool or as smart as he is but I'm trying okay but

thank you so much for watching today and even though this isn't my channel I hope

I'll see you again soon

What If Everyone Lived On ONE Continent? | Dolan Life Mysteries - Duration: 12:24.

From History's first recorded name to how many animals are on the planet, we answer

several of your most curious questions about life.

- My name is Melissa and I'll be reading out the questions and -

- * - Melissa.

I heard you were thinking about building a website.

- Oh, god- - The only problem is, which incredible service

to choose?

We couldn't possibly tell our audience to use the same platform that built superplanetdolan.com

– with its smooth mobile-friendly design and animated carousel functionality, right?

- Why does your shirt have your own face on it?

- Because I'm the best role model.

For everyone.

- Can I have a shirt?

- * - …No.

10 - MarkoRRM - What would happen if everyone lived on one continent?

- I'd hate it!

That means more annoying neighbours to put up with.

"Oh Mister Hellbent, do you have a spare light bulb?"

"Oh Mister Hellbent can you please stop shooting cans in the middle of the night?"

"Oh waaah Mister Hellbent can you please not park your truck on my husband?"

- It sounds like you're the annoying neighbour.

- Shut up, bird.

You probably live in a tree somewhere, WITHOUT a subscription to Wix, and the only neighbor

you have to worry about is a cat trying to eat you.

- That's not true!

My neighbors are crows… they can be pretty loud.

- *

Things would certainly seem more crowded.

Technically it is possible to fit roughly 7 billion people into the state of Texas but

it would be completely unsustainable.

There are other problems that come with overpopulation in an area, such as cultural clashes, farming

and resource struggles.

9 - grutraz - What was the first recorded name?

- Archaeologists have delved deep into the ancient tombs of Egypt.

There, in those dark claustrophobic tunnels of antiquity they found: carved into the dusty

stone tablets, the first name that ever was.

- * - It was me.

It was Hellbent.

Currently the oldest known name can be found on a tablet dating back to the second half

of the fourth millennium BC in southern Mesopotamia.

The inscription on the tablet is believed to be of a trade transaction, which reads

as "29,086 measures barley 37 months" and is signed by a man named "Kushim",

believed to be an ancient accountant.

8 - kittencrazy167 - Can a disease become "extinct"?

- They can and that's a big problem.

- * - Hello there, I'm Hellbent.

Did you know that the disease, Smallpox, has been almost entirely wiped out?

It's unfortunately true.

Only a small handful of samples remain, caged up in laboratories worldwide.

But with your help (and generous donations) we can help Smallpox return to the world,

where it belongs.

- There is no way anybody is going to fund you releasing Smallpox into the world, you

maniac!

- Don't be so sure.

- * - Thanks, Grim.

Although technically not extinct, as small quantities still exist for research, the disease

known as Smallpox has been eradicated due to immunization by vaccines.

So far smallpox has been the only disease to be eradicated worldwide while great efforts

are being made to also eradicate Diphtheria and Measles, among other dangerous diseases.

7 - Kordell Cunningham - Who is in charge of designing a country's currency?

- Little known fact, I'm working on my own currency.

That way I don't have to use the bank's money, I'll have my own legal tender!

I've got my top guy working on the designs right now.

- * - I hate everything about this, but with Hellbent's

charisma I can't help but do everything he says.

- …and?

- Also he's… manly… or something?

- I'll let you go home soon, it won't be much longer.

- Yeah.

Thanks.

Most countries have a central bank that prints its national currency.

For the United States in particular, it is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing that

designs the Federal Reserve Notes for the Federal Reserve, the nation's central bank.

Other countries may have a similar system, for example the central bank of the UK is

the Bank of England and can issue banknotes in England and Wales.

6 - LovetoShuck - Why do potatoes sprout roots when they go bad?

- Because they obviously didn't subscribe to WIX, clearly their moldy website didn't

go as planned.

You don't need JavaScript or C++ skills for this, GET OUTTA HERE!

They've got templates, drag-and-drop tools and 24/7 phone & email help-

- Hey!

We're talking about potatoes- - Too true – STOP BEING A POTATO AND USE

WIX.

- That's all.

Potatoes sprouting is a natural part of their life cycle.

During the colder months of winter, potatoes remain in the ground and only begin to sprout

in the warmer spring season.

It's important when storing Potatoes to keep them in a dry cool area, which prevents

them from sprouting.

I should also mention that shrunken potatoes that have sprouted are considered toxic and

you probably shouldn't eat them.

5 - Xkishuu_Draws - If we lined up everyone one by one on the Earth, could we circle around

the World?

- Why not launch everyone into space?

Then they can circle the Earth in orbit.

Like the rings of Saturn, only instead of rocks and dust, it's people.

- We would need a lot of spacesuits to make that happen.

- …Who said anything about spacesuits?

- *

It's impossible to get an accurate number due to the many variables but if we took the

circumference of the planet Earth, which is about 40,075,000 metres and the population

which is roughly 7.6 billion.

Then the average height of a human male, which is about equal to arm span at 1.7 metres.

Now multiply the population of Earth by the average height and divide your answer by the

circumference of Earth, you get 322.4.

Which, under these parameters, means if everyone were to line up with their arms extended we

would circle the world 322 times.

- What about fat people?

- Listen, don't take the answer too literally, it's just a thought experiment.

There are too many variables to get an accurate answer.

- No fatties in the line up, gotcha.

4 - Keren Fuentes - How many animals are there in the world?

- Too many and most of them are useless.

I've put together this helpful chart to show you what I mean.

- * - As you can see, we have Pigs, Cows and Chickens

or "food" as they are otherwise known.

Dogs also get a pass, they're loyal and they'll bite people that annoy you.

The rest of these though - not necessary.

- * - Hmm - Hey Melissa!

Would you say you are chicken-like?

- What!?

No!

- Uh huh - That's another for the useless side then.

- *

Although we do not know the exact amount of individual animals on the planet we do know

that to date, there are around 1.2 million documented animal species on Earth.

However, it is estimated that the total number of animal species on the planet number around

8.7 million.

Although it is hard to get an accurate estimate due to the rate that species go extinct.

3 - Buchi2005 - Why do different countries have different cultures?

- Don't know but a lot of them talk funny, that's for sure.

Take Dolan for example, he's from that island where they all sound like "Allo govnah,

ya fancy a cup of tea or what mate?"

- You're thinking of the wrong island.

- Don't give me lip, I don't even know what weird country you're from.

- Canada.

- Ha-ha!

Come on now, don't make things up, that's my job.

We all know Canada is just a fairytale.

- *

The people and groups that make up the society of a nation will often share a common culture.

This cultural bond is due to race, ethnicity or shared views and beliefs.

Ethnic groups across the world each have their own culture defined by their ancestry, religion,

sense of history and language.

2 - Rylee Scott - How do we know if planets are 'planets'?

- I'm about to tell you all a personal story.

It's about Wix.

- Noooooooooooooooo- - I was lost.

People on the internet knew my face, but didn't know my name (it's Hellbent, by the way)

But that all changed when father Wix reached down with a hand of mercy and offered me total

creative freedom- - You're mixing up a website-building service

with GOD- - -and lo, fully-automatic video integration

& a public community forum built (*snaps fingers*) like that.

Every day, I'm blessed – by Wix.

You could say I live on…

PLANET Wix.

- …Are you done?

- Subscribe.

That's all.

- You're going to break that mic.

- Worth it.

Planets are defined as an object that first, orbits the Sun.

Secondly, it has enough mass to be sufficiently round.

Thirdly, that it's not a satellite of another object.

And finally, it has removed or has very little debris around its orbit.

It was this final definition that caused Pluto to be reclassified as a Dwarf Planet in 2006.

1 - Gavin Jones - What allows starfish limbs to grow new parts?

- Although Starfish are on my list of useless animals they do have one redeeming feature.

It's that they are not pushovers.

If you pick a fight with a Starfish they are not going to go down easy, you can pummel

them all you want, even chop parts off and they'll keep coming at you.

- * - Yeah!

Go on Starfish!

Kick his butt!

- WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON, WOMAN?!

Starfish have cells similar to humans during early development called Stem cells.

However unlike humans who cells mature and lose the ability to develop new body parts,

Starfish do not.

Under the right signals their cells can keep growing and retain the ability to grow into

whatever proportion is needed.

- Phew!

End of the video – I'm shocked you haven't mentioned Wix in a while, Hellbent.

- Come now, bird.

There's more to life than a website-building service.

- … why is your head a promo code!?

- Oh.

Is it?

What a happy coincidence.

Use the promo code TAKE10 for 10% off the Wix yearly premium plan.

- … but… what happened to your real head!?

- * - I know there's an explanation for this…

but

I got nothing.

What If The Sun Disappeared For 5 Seconds? - Duration: 5:50.

What If the sun disappeared for 5 seconds?

Seems like a really odd question.

5 seconds isn't very long.

But the sun is so vital to everything on earth, as well as the rest of our solar system.

Even if it only disappeared for 5 seconds, that 5 seconds would be enough to cause some

serious damage.

Hello and welcome back to life's biggest questions, the channel that imagines the impossible.

I'm your host, charlotte dobre and thanks for checking out another video.

if this is your first time here, subscribe for more daily videos that will make you scratch

your head, and if you're on social media, check out the description for our social media

handles.

The sun is 330 thousand times the mass of our earth, and every single second it produces

as much energy as 100 billion hydrogen bombs.

The sun is so big that it's the dominant gravitational force in our solar system, and

8 planets along with countless space objects orbit around it.

To sum it all up, we need the sun.

if it went anywhere, even for just 5 seconds, shit would definitely go down.

It takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to reach the earth.

So if the sun disappeared for 5 seconds, we wouldn't even know about it until 8 minutes

later.

If the sun disappeared for 5 seconds, the parts of the world that were experiencing

daylight at the time would get a very quick 5 second night, where the stars are visible.

the parts of the world that were experiencing night at the time that the sun disappeared,

wouldn't see the moon because the moon's light is reflected from the sun.

If the sun disappeared for 5 seconds, it wouldn't be too big a deal at first.

We would still have electricity for those 5 seconds.

Plants would stop making food because without the sun there is no photosynthesis.

They of course would continue making food after the sun returned after 5 seconds.

It can be assumed that the planet will get quite a bit cooler for those 5 seconds, and

the average temperature could even drop to zero degrees Celsius.

This would probably be quite a shock for people who lived in warmer climates.

Imagine going about your day when all of a sudden, the sun goes out and the air is quite

a bit cooler.

Its not necessarily the light from the sun going out for 5 seconds that I'm worried

about, its how it would affect gravity in our solar system.

The sun provides heat and light for our solar system, but The sun holds everything in our

solar system in place.

Interestingly, before Einstein, scientists assumed that gravity acted instantaneously.

But in his theory of general relativity, the force from gravity isn't instentanous.

Gravity travels at the speed of light as well, so we would see the sun go out and feel it

disappear at the exact same time.

. If the sun disappeared, even if it were for just 5 seconds, all the objects in our

solar system would assume an unstable orbit.

They would then be sent flying in the direction that they were headed in a straight line rather

than continuing on their elliptical orbits.

The earth oribits the sun at a speed of 67 thousand miles per hour, or 30 miles per second.

Do a bit of math, and the earth's orbit would change by less than a kilometer.

Even though this doesn't seem like much, This could cause our planet to move further

away from the sun, so when it goes back into orbit, the earth could be quite a bit cooler.

This would affect the environment in many different ways.

Certain plants cant survive in cooler weather, and certain species of animals who rely on

the heat would also suffer.

Its difficult to determine just how much a change in temperature would affect life on

earth, but as we have seen, a drop in temperature has caused many different species to go extinct.

Even though the sun and its gravity would return after 5 seconds, in extreme cases,

its temporary disappearance would cause the objects in our solar system to be knocked

off course, where eventually they could float away into space entirely and be lost forever,

or they would eventually crash into other objects in our solar system.

Again, any crashes wouldn' t happen right away because gravity also travels at the speed

of light, but throwing our planets orbit off course would definitely have long term implications.

Apart from the sun's obvious jobs, You might not have known this but The sun also creates

a magnetic field around the solar system.

The field is called the heliosheath, and it deflects harmful radiation particles that

come from outside our solar system.

Take away the sun, and then our heliosheath is gone, which means that all the radiation

that is currently blocked will be able to make it into our solar system.

Once the sun returned, the heliosheath would be far less able to safely deflect all the

radation that bombards our solar system from space.

On the bright side, we would likely see beautiful aurora up in the atmosphere, but on the negative,

electrical grids we rely on would short out and satellites that are currently in orbit

might stop functioning.

This already happens when solar flares affect our planet.

Thankfully, the sun isn't going anywhere, and it definitely isn't disappearing for

5 seconds any time soon.

But hopefully this video has given you some insight on how important our sun actually

is.

For now, Its that part of the video where I'm going to respond to some of your comments.

These were from my last video, how dangerous is the dark web.

Carlitoschiken – what if school was never created.

Well I think we would all be quite a bit dumber.

Top 10 Popular Foods That Might Soon Be Extinct - Duration: 11:13.

Hello and welcome back to The Most Amazing channel on the internet.

I am your host Rebecca Felgate and today we are talking the Top 10 Popular Foods That

Might Soon Be Extinct!

Before we get into this list I want to ask you guys what your favourite food is ? My

favourite food is Indian food, although my favourite ingredient is probably rice, chestnuts

or chocolate.

While you are down there food chatting please do leave a thumbs up on this video and share

it with a friend.

10 - Reese's Peanut Butter Cups I said that to get you attention with a familiar

brand but things are much worse than just Reese's pieces….

All peanut butter could be out by 2030 which would be pretty devastating not only for fans

of the candy, but for all lovers of a bar snack and a peanut in general.

No more PBJ sandwiches!

No more Peanut butter and banana …. While peanut production is okay right now, they

require very specific conditions in order to grow and as climate change continues on

its worrying trajectory, peanuts could be out.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia are all great Peanut Butter spots and they are continually experiencing

hotter summers which are affecting production.

We got a taste for this in 2011 when drought saw the price of peanut butter hike by 40%.

Not a food….but something we consume that is very popular – at number 9 we have Beer.

What is a life without beer.

I love beer.

I live for a cheeky flight of beer on a Sunday.

According to Eco Watch, though, beer is in jeopardy.

Say it isn't so.

This is because of unstable water supplies.

Brewers need access to a lot of water and in the next 20 to 50 years, it is expected

that water will become even more difficult to come across.

While bigger brewers maybe be okay, smaller craft breweries may find it difficult to stay

afloat.

The problem with beer is two pronged – not only is water in dwindling supply – some

hops are also suffering.

8 - Bananas What this means for my enduring love of banoffee

pie, I dread to think.

It seems that in the United States alone, Americans

pound down 28 pounds of banana each year.

A banana is a total lunchbox staple…I love a good banana.

It seems though they are under threat by the killer Panama disease.

What a lot of people don't know is that varietals of banana HAVE already gone extinct.

Back in the 30s at 40s American's were eating Big Mikes, but they were obliterated by an

early ancestor of the Panama Disease.

Now we eat a breed of Banana called the Cavendish, but they are under threat from the modern

version of the disease….which is bad news…especially as by the time Big Mike died, Cavendish bananas

were already reared and ready… but these days we don't have a successor.

Say goodbye to hummus, because chickpeas are dying out at number 7

I love love love chickpeas.

They are very versatile.

Firstly – I have an enduring love for hummus.

It is the most delicious non dairy dip there is in my opinion….okay… maybe tied with

Guacamole… but still…hummus is great.

Hummus is a very popular part of middle eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, as is the humble

chickpea in general.

Chickpea curries are some of my favourite Indian dishes – rustle me up a chana masala

and I am youuuurs.

Chickpeas have also become pretty popular with vegans too because chickpea water can

be used to replicate egg whites.

So….why are these beautiful legumes in danger?

Well the issue is that they take A LOT of water to produce and with world wide droughts,

especially in areas of chickpea growth, it just isn't sustainable to frown them.

When I say a lot of water – chickpeas need 76 gallons of water for every ounce…which

is insane.

As a result, over the past ten years, chickpea production dropped between 40 and 50 percent.

Although you think that is a lot – for one beef burger patty, it takes 660 gallons of

water…which is actually and literally unacceptable.

Sorry Canada, but Maple Syrup is at number 6

Ever noticed how expensive real Maple Syrup is?

I have!

The reason is because it is tricky to farm at the best of times and it is getting even

harder.

In order to get maple syrup, temperatures need to be above freezing during the day and

then below freezing during the night – with the change in weather as a result of climate

change, this requirement is becoming harder and harder to pin down.

Areas currently primed for maple syrup production are struggling…and while we may be able

to find new areas suitable for growth that would be a costly move aaandd how long until

they are affected too.

Suddenly breakfast pancakes just got a little sadder.

Look, this is unlikely but I thought it worthy of a discussion at number 5 Beef

Beef and dairy farming is one of the biggest contributors to global warming as well as

deforestation.

As we discussed earlier, one burger takes over 6 thousand gallons of water to produce.

One pound of beef takes 1 thousand 799 gallons of water – which is roughly 10 years of

drinking water for humans.

In an age of drought and dwindling clean water it just isn't sustainable – with amount

of food it takes to feed a cow – we may as well not bother and save that food to feed….ourselves.

A lot of the world is wisening up to these facts and statistics and a lot of people are

now going vegetarian, or cutting out meat including beef several days a week, which

is a better option for planet earth.

It is possible that if the world took responsibility and understood the grave reality of the beef

situation, we would take it off the menu.

Although with huge co-operations like McDonalds running a lot of the worlds wealth, perhaps

they would have a financial vested interest in stopping that from happening.

Perhaps a happier medium would be lab grown meat – but would that be the same as beef

as we knew it?

Winnie the Pooh is about to get a little hungrier as his staple is on its way out -

4 - Honey It is a bad time for honey bees out there.

Honey bees have been rapidly dying – something beekeepers have been noticing for nearly 15

years.

It seems bees are suffering from Honeybee Colony Collapse Disorder – which is basically

when worker bees in a colony abandon the Queen which in turns causes the collapse of the

colony.

Since 2006, bees have been dying at an alarming rate with millions of hives lost each year.

Honey might well be the least of our problems, too - Honey bees used to do a stellar job

at pollinating other crops but now they are dying out which means that crop production

has been significantly harmed.

3 - Tuna I say Tuna, but actually this applies to a

lot of fish.

Marine life has been dwindling since the late 1800s – in the past 40 years marine life

has declined by 52 percent and large fish like tuna have seen a 90 percent decline.

The issue is unsustainable overfishing.

In order to make maximum catch and profit, fisherman are using ocean trawlers that trap

everything in their path.

Some of these fish aren't useful or edible, so they are dropped back in the water, dead.

Other fish that are edible are caught before they reach sexual maturity so had no time

to produce offspring before they were caught.

With the rate of marine life decline and the rate of aggressive over fishing, we could

kill off the entire edible marine population by 2050….which is totally devastating.

This is why fish is pricy and why it is important to eat sustainable fish.

2 - Chocolate Say it isn't so!

Fun fact about me…

I have chocolate every working day of the week at around 11am.

I would blame my mum but I enjoy it so much that actually maybe I should thank her.

Anyway, my 11sies could be gone for good and may just be a happy anecdote I tell my grandkids…..if

they show up.

It seems that the humble coca bean is in some serious danger – danger that could see it

off our shelves and decidedly far from our bellies as soon as 2020 which is only a year

away.

I hope that doesn't happen and that future me is watching this video with a cup of tea

and some delicious chocolate!

The issue is that chocolate demand outweighs supplies and year after year this only gets

worse.

Over 70% of the worlds coca is produced in West Africa, which has been severely effected

by drought.

The other chocolate hub – south America – has experienced outbreaks of fungal diseases

including Frosty Pod which has been killing the coca trees.

The good news is that scientists are working on creating a breed of coca trees resistant

to Frosty Pod but the bad news is, until we solve the issue, chocolate is going to keep

getting more expensive.

1 - Coffee Devastating.

Coffee is one of the most universally consumed drinks and it is especially popular in the

Unites States of America.

Climate change is the number one threat to coffee.

It seems the climate institute has warned that is global warming continues on its current

trajectory then wild coffee could be totally extinct by 2080.

That is wild coffee…so what about coffee we can farm – well that is in danger too

– by 2050 it is expected that farmland is expected to be halved due to the change in

climate which not only effects weather conditions, but also abundance of crop destroying pests

and fungus.

Sure, not having a cup of coffee would totally suck – it is more than a drink – it is

a culture – but it would suck more for the 120 million people worldwide who rely on coffee

production to make their living.

WOAH so that was the Top 10 Popular Foods that might soon be extinct.

This list contains 8 things I absolutely love and 1 I love but I am trying not to….so

…. I for one hope it doesn't come true….the issue is climate change and overfarming…so

hopefully the next generation are a little more conscious than the one that came before

me.

Don't forget to let me know your favourite food.
