DECEMBER BOOK HAUL!! | 2018 | Kendra Winchester - Duration: 13:39.

Hello! My name is Kendra Winchester. Welcome back to my channel! Dylan is

behind you. He's playing with toys and shredding a towel, you know, like like you

do. Anyway, so today we're gonna be doing a book haul, and like always, I separated

them into two groups. This first group is going to be the books that I have

bought or were given to me. The second group will be books that were sent to me

by publishers, so we can have the fulfill FTC warning in there, and all of everyone

is happy regarding books on social media etc. All right, so the first book I'm going

to talk to you about is SADIE by Courtney Summers. I finally picked up a

copy of this. Everyone and their mother's brother was telling me that this is a

great book, and I need to read it. So Samuel and I are planning on listening

to it on the way up to my parents' house. So yes we tend to pick books that are

kind of really in-depth that we want to read, but it doesn't really work for a

car ride. You need something fun and adventurous and that will keep your

attention. And I think this is . . . it also I've heard the audio book is amazing.

Because it has like a podcast stuff in it. I think so, yeah, so I picked a

copy of this up—finally. Everyone's been telling me to pick it up. So in

November, Autumn and I went to New York for some business stuff, and we of course

stopped in the Strand. And who else happened to be there? Matthew Sciarappa! And

I said, "Hey, Matthew what book would you recommend to me, and I will buy it."

And so he recommended Banana Yoshimoto. He said KITCHEN, but they didn't have

KITCHEN. So he got me N.P. I have no idea what this book is about, but Matthew

Sciarappa said that I would probably like it. and everyone's telling me that he is

indeed correct; this author is amazing. So I trust the internet and Matthew. So when

I read this, I will get back with you, and we can talk about this author.

I would probably read KITCHEN as well, because that's the one everyone's

telling me to read. So I doubt the next book is FUN HOME. I was looking for a

copy of FUN HOME, and I found one there at the Strand. I read this a few years

ago because we talked about it on the podcast as one of our discussion picks,

for that whatever month that happened to be (probably graphic novels). And this is

really a classic of graphic memoirs, so uh.

It was made into a musical, and I was able to see the musical, I think,I don't

know, last year? So I was really excited. We actually be able to see that. So yeah,

I finally have a copy of FUN HOME. And I know there is a second one. This one

focuses more on Alison Bechdel's relationship with her father, and then

the second one is like, "Are you my mother?" And it's about her relationship with her

mother. I need to pick that one up, but I need pick up a lot of books. I just . . . my

never-ending TBR. The next book is CHRISTMAS DAYS by Jeanette Winterson. I

read this last year with Samuel, so I wanted to finally buy a copy. So I did.

And this is a beautiful naked hardback, with gorgeous illustrations throughout.

And there's foil, and it's navy. which is my favorite color. So there you go.

Moving on at the last book I picked up for myself was POPPY WAR by R.F Kuang, and

I am very excited to read this. A friend of mine just finished this, or is gonna

be finishing this shortly, and she sent me a whole like list of trigger warnings.

Because that's the real reason I haven't picked this up yet is because I was

concerned about trigger warnings for sexual assault. And since it's war, like,

typically those are super graphic. So I mean like I went into THE SYMPATHIZER,

and had no idea it was coming. So at least now I have a trigger warning and

can skip it if I desire. So I appreciate her doing that for me,

so I'm very excited to get into this book. I've heard that this is the best

debut fantasy novel of the year from many people, many lists. So yes, very

excited to read it. The last book is the final book I

need for my Jhumpa Lahiri collection, and that is INTERPRETER OF MALADIES. And this

is her short story collection, and I gave this five stars. It's the very first Jhumpa

Lahiri that I ever read. I've given everything by her five stars, which is why

she's quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Yes, I just I just love

her. So thank you Jaclyn for sending this my way, and yeah I would highly

recommend that you pick this up if you haven't already. Heaven knows that I need to

reread it. It's so good. Hello, sorry. Sorry, about the continuity has this video. We had an

emergency where Dylan decided to try to steal a wrapping paper roll from the corner

of the room, and like sent an entire stack of items

falling to the floor. So it's also getting quite warm up here, so I was like,

you know, what we already had to stop the video—wardrobe change!

So yes, anyway. Let's get back to the books. So this is MAPS, and this is by

married couple. And they illustrate different countries and regions, and you

can see what the country is famous for. So kids learn, you know, this is Russia.

And they have their flag there, and the different animals and plants and

different things I associate with that country. So this is such a cute book. I am

so glad I finally have a copy of this. I've had my eye on it since I saw it at

Costco a few years back. So yes. So excited for this book. I'm the nerd who

loves maps. I'm fine with that. I own it. So the next group is a group of books

that were sent to me by publishers for an honest review, and so thank you so

much publishers for sending them to me and making my job possible. So first up

we have some ARCs, so let's just jump into these. All of these are out next year. So

first up is THE SEVEN OR EIGHT DEATHS OF STELLA FORTUNA by Juliet Grames, and this

book is had so much buzz. It's out from Ecco. It's coming out in May. I've already seen

people over in the UK reading this and giving it rave reviews. So this is gonna be a

huge buzzy book in May. Mark it on your calendars, your TBRs, everywhere. I'm

really excited for it. It even comes with a family tree in the front there. I love

a good family tree. So I cannot wait for this book, and it's definitely one of my

most anticipated books of the first half of the year. Coming out in February is

the CARE AND FEEDING OF RAVENOUSLY HUNGRY GIRLS by Anissa Gray, and this is

a debut novel about three sisters and how they interact with each other. And I

think something happens in the beginning that, like, sets off the whole story, and they

have to come to terms with their roles in the family. And I think it really

looks at sisterly friendship as well, so definitely looking forward to this book.

And that cover is just endlessly fascinating. I mean, look at that! Do you see

all the faces? Wow! And this book is out from Berkeley. So the next one is Maria Popova's

FIGURING, which is out from Pantheon. And this comes out in February. I believe

this book is a nonfiction book, which just delves into a lot of existential

thoughts (I think). If you follow Brain Pickings, which is what she founded, you know she's

a very smart woman. So I feel like this book is just gonna be like taking the

top of Maria's skull off and like peering into her brain and like what

what really is going on. And she's just so smart. So I really love style manuals

being an editor and different things, and so I really enjoyed BETWEEN YOU AND ME, and

that was a memoir by the copy editor of the New Yorker. So she follows that

up with GREEK TO ME: ADVENTURES OF A COMMA QUEEN. That's by Mary Norris, and

it's out from Norton and in April, I believe. And so it just continues in

that vein. So if you like commas or you like the book BETWEEN YOU AND ME, or you

just like, you know, memoirs from people who love punctuation then, definitely

check this one out. So the next book here is out from Hub City Press. That's an

indie press here in South Carolina, actually. And that's THE MAGNETIC

GIRL by Jessica Handler. And this is set two decades after the Civil War ended

and in northern Georgia, I believe is where it's set. So that's a story, about the

magnetic girl there and what happens with that. So this particular indie press,

though, focuses on Southern fiction. So I am all here for this. Yes, that cover!

It's so fascinating, isn't it? Yeah. So next up, we have a middle reader, and

this one's already out. It's gonna be out in paperback soon, and that's ZORA AND ME:

THE CURSED GROUND. And this is a mystery about Carrie and her friend

Zora, from Zora Neale Hurston. And this is like a little fictional story

about Zora as a girl, so Carrie and her friends Zora discovered that the town

mute isn't actually mute. And it unravels a whole set of mysteries. I believe this

book won some sort of Coretta Scott King Award. But it's, yes, I just saw this book

and was like yes, definitely. I'm so excited for this. I love middle reader. I think

this book will be great, and I think a sequel is already on the schedule. So I

look forward to that as well. So next up is some books from FSG ,and that is

EVENING IN PARADISE:MORE STORIES from Lucia Berlin, and Lucia Berlin's

unfinished memoir and letters and papers and things. This, as you know, I

so excited about these because I loved A MANUAL FOR CLEANING WOMEN, which I just

finished, finally. Finally. Autumn was so right. So I'm very excited to read her

next ones, next stories, and her memoir. So I mean look at that then. That's just

gorgeous, and the memoir one actually has photos and different things in it. So

excited. So I knew I asked a lot of questions in my wrap up about MANUAL

FOR CLEANING WOMEN, so I'm looking forward to finally having those

questions answered in this one. This next one in INSURRECTO by Gina

Apostol out from Soho Press, and that's an indie press here in the US. And this

the author was featured on Publisher's Weekly's cover of their best of books

issue, so I'm so excited about this book. And I think I've talked about this book

several times, but this book is about a American filmmaker and she goes to the

Philippines. And she has the Filipina translator, and the two women, I think,

basically wander around the rural part of the Philippines and stuff happens,

which is always a great plot for a book, I think. Just two people get together

that normally wouldn't be together, and then stuff happens. Yes, but this is a

gorgeous book. It has the most beautiful end papers just ever, just so gorgeous.

And then the back I mean everything about this book is beautiful. I'm so

excited to read it, and I also found the audio in hoopla recently, so I am all set.

All set for this book. All right so next up, we have THE OYSTER THIEF by Sonia

Faruqi, and I think this is a love story involving a mermaid. I don't really need

to know anything else. I'm excited to go into this blind. I've heard great things about

it. I've seen it all over bookstagram and different things, but this is book . . .

It's our from Pegasus ,so yeah look at that.

I mean I just love that cover, and it has these beautiful mustard and papers. Just,

these people know how to make a book. They really do. Another book I'm really

excited about is ONCE UPON A RIVER by Diane Setterfield. Diane Setterfield does

these historical settings with some magical elements to them, and so this one

is no exception. A man walks in to, I think, an inn or something of some kind

and carrying what appears to be a dead girl. And then

she wakes up, and it's like, oh, what she really died or was it magic? What's going

on? So yes. I love Diane Setterfield. It's supposed to be like a real wintery book,

so I'm here for this. Oh, of course, love her.

This book was recommended by Rebecca Traister. She came on the podcast, and she

recommended this book among some others. So this is by Soraya Chemaly. This is RAGE

BECOMES HER: THE POWER OF WOMEN'S ANGER, and like ONCE UPON A RIVER, this is out

from Atria. And so this book just sounds amazing, and Rebecca tracer said that

this took a more psychological perspective on women's anger in society

today and how that intersects with politics, I believe. So yes, I so much am

looking forward to this, and it's just center of my wheelhouse. I don't really

know what else to say. Do I need to give any more descriptors before you go,

"Oh right, yeah that's a Kendra book. Definitely,

a Kendra book." The last book I have for you, I'm very excited about. And I've

actually already finished it, and that's FIRST COMES MARRIAGE out from Prometheus

books. And this is by Huda Al-Marashi. This book is about . . . this is book is

actually a memoir, and it's about Huda growing up in California as an Iraqi

American Muslim and how she had essentially an arranged marriage. It was

a little different than her parents arranged marriage because she actually

grew up with the guy that she married, and she, you know, liked him and respected

him. But it was a bit different, and the thing I really appreciate about this

book is that the perspectives in here are so interesting, and she asked a lot

of questions. And she critiques her own culture and her own like takeaways when she

was a young woman, because she got married when she was about 20. And she

gives you the realities but also critique things and really it just makes

you think about your own perception of what is a love story. Yeah, so those the

books that I picked up recently. If you think I should pick up a book sooner

rather than later definitely put it down in the comments. Of course, all of these

books and where their publishers will lead down in the description box below.

Thanks again to the publishers who sent me these books.

I really appreciate it. And yeah, I guess this is it for me, and I will see you in the next

one. Bye, guys!

Primary Weapons Systems MK116 MoD 2 | FIRST MAG REVIEW - Duration: 13:38.

Oh clear before you watch this video if you're not getting notified when I

upload videos it's probably because you haven't clicked the bail symbol next to

the subscribe button down there also if you haven't received an email from me

with discount codes and secret giveaways it's also probably because you haven't

clicked this link and sign up for my email list you might want to do that now

I call this daddy-longlegs but it's official name is the PWS MK 116

I am for some reason I call it daddy longlegs for a reason that I don't

really quite know why but that's what I call her

I've had this wife before a good minute actually and I'll be honest this is not

the first time that I've shot it however I have not shot it extensively if you

follow me on Instagram you know and probably have seen this rifle a couple

of times on some of my posts that being said I've never really actually shot it

extensively and so this is gonna be the first mag of me shooting it extensively

so to speak Primary Weapons Systems is famous for their long-stroke piston system probably the

closest thing to an ar-15 ak-47 that's pretty much out there are there are

other long-stroke piston systems but Primary Weapons Systems is really more or less known for one of

the things that Primary Weapons Systems is also known for is making really lightweight piston driven

systems I have been a quiet Primary Weapons Systems fan for some time now I love their rifles I have

it in k114 I've never done a video on that I absolutely love it's my workhorse

it's a 14 5 pin and weld with their mod 1 this is their mod 2 and so the

difference between the mod 1 and mod 2 is for me more those differences are

more aesthetic driven and from a functional standpoint you know you have

now that's what they call the pic mod which is basically the ability to have a

Picatinny rail up front while still having em locks and em lock system key

mod actually throughout the rest of the rail so as far as how I have this rifle

setup I'm entertaining this as being my do everything rifle I what I mean by do

everything is if I was gonna have one rifle that I could just pick up a grab

and I can do just about anything with it or as close to doing anything with it

this is in the running for being one of those

rifles generally speaking I need to be able to one be short enough that I could

do close-quarter stuff if I need to but then also have a long enough barrel that

if I need to reach out and touch something I can go ahead and do that

while at the same time being light enough that if I have to wolf it so what

the last time I've ever had to hoof it will fit I don't even know what I'm

saying but the last time I ever had to do that was like never but you know it's

kind of fun to kind of think about this and I was you may find yourself in um

ank because quite frankly they're possible that being said this rifle

considering its barreling and considering its a piston is incredibly

light and that's the one thing I like about in the reason why I was really big

on making this possibly my do everything rifle trigger on this particular rifle

is a geyser trigger it does not come with a gauzy trigger it actually comes

with the zev trigger there was nothing wrong with the death trigger except for

the fact that it was a single-stage I don't like single-stage triggers so I

took it I took the zebb trigger out and I put it in the guys in church

I do think does that trigger look better it was kind of like a brownish color and

then you know it kind of had some skeletonizing and stuff like that but

for the most part it was a sickness a sugar I always seem to say sugars but um

another thing that's really known for two is the buffer tubes I love the

buffer tubes just especially considering some of the small detailing that they

put into them let's see here I'm running optics wise I'm running a trinsic on one

to eight like I said I want to be able to one run CQB if I can which is

throwing this on my actual true one power and if I needed to do something up

close

so let's talk about this recoil impulse it's different and I can see someone

liking it because it is not a very linear recoil impulse it actually it

recalls a lot like a lighter version of the ak-47 and and a lot of it having to

do with the long-stroke piston system a long-stroke piston system that's what

she said and so it for someone who's used to shooting di guns direct

impingement guns it could startle you a little bit considering how this gun

recoils because it's so different it's not bad different I personally it

doesn't bother me is it better than a DI gun from what I shot so far it's just

kind of pick your preference kind of a thing so I can't say that the DI gun

probably does recall a little bit less the recoil on this is slightly harsher

now to the point while I think it will affect your speed and your accuracy if

you're really into really intuitive recoil impulse you're gonna notice it

like I said it's not a bad thing per se unless you're just really sensitive

about recoil it's if you are and yeah it's a bad thing

so even though even at speed I have to give a lot of it to the guys you

triggered just because I love the triggers I love guys Lee I really really

really love guys the triggers I'm sorry but I just do if I needed to I

can really run this gun at speed and which again it which goes into the hole

might do everything gun so we have close-quarters ability to run it

close-quarters ability to reach out and touched up as I'm gonna show you here in

a second being lightweight enough that if I have

to really kind of wolf hoof it around why I keep saying wolf I don't know but

Huff it around so to speak or just carry the gun for an extended period of time

almost like I'm doing right now it's not so heavy that it just becomes overly

cumbersome all right let's see what we do here so now on top of that not only

do I need it to be able to do all of those things I'd also want it to be able

to expressed and so wow at the same time while being suppressed not becoming

overly heavy or completely unbalanced one thing about piston guns they can be

a little unbalanced I love my hkm r56 svr it's a little unbalanced but I

talked about that in another video I think it was video about sailing in arms

great rifle where the stock was so light that it created about an imbalance in a

rifle and even though it was lighter felt heavier because of the weight that

was removed from the back

what is quiet I am now starting to realize why I was missing it first it's

because the targets are at an angle so at this distance I think I'm seeing them

head-on and I'm not and I'm just missing right off of the side I hope y'all

hearing it that's not about 400 ish yours so

so you see what I'm saying it's essentially like I said I'll do

everything rifle for me yes there are other 16-inch guns that I'm pretty sure

could do that and other things as well but the one thing that I got from this

Tyree love is the fact that it's so lightweight and it's a piston system

once you get that spans of reliability but I guess you could argue you know

pistons do break as well so you could run it to that type of issue but as far

as just being a dirty gun it's still running and still being able to kind of

push through you got to give it to the piston in that sense there's gonna be a

lot of people in the comment section of like no that's actually not true the DI

is just fine it's just as reliable okay well if it's just as reliable then this

is gonna be slightly more reliable and if it is just as reliable then I guess

it's okay for me to just go to a piston

I swear shoot long-range like I play basketball I remember back in high

school what I would used to do is I'd come down take not even high school was

like undergrad I'd come over take three or four steps past half court just to

watch it and they kind of look at it and walk away I was doing that before Curry

was doing that true story so I have this tendency when I'm shooting out the

distance so one that kind of look up and see my hit like I can actually see where

my naked eye which I can't but the beautiful thing is come on it's gonna

come look at this right here is uh at this place as you can see the target

down there to have these red indicators so if I were to say shoot one of them

night comes on and what that also does to is it kind of shows you how fast

sound travels and how much slower it travels versus the actual round so for

instance you're gonna see the red light showing that I hit the target before you

actually hear the auditory sound of me hitting the target

oh man so there you have it the Primary Weapons Systems MK 116 mot

- and I'm like I said of course you know I have my obligatory surefire light just

because I love surefire and excited one to a tragic on my my potential do

everything rifle I can suppress it I can go long I can go short I don't know why

I did that like that somehow signifies and it's it's lightweight Anna and I

have the reliability of a piston system so for me and then if I wanted to I

could go ahead and throw some bipods on here and I needed to pretty much have a

The Business (Success) Mindset - Duration: 34:47.

- [Bryan] Hey everybody, Bryan with Praetereo here,

and tonight I'm bringing the first of our series

on internet marketing, and this is perhaps

the most important video in the series

because it's talking about the business mindset,

what kind of mindset you have to have

when going into building your business.

And if you don't master this, if you don't get this down,

then you're going to severely hinder your results.

Even if you learn all of the technical aspects,

you get those down pat, if you don't master this,

then you are going to severely limit

your results, your effectiveness.

So let's kind of jump right in.

And kind of the main topic I wanna talk about,

kinda wanna look at, is what are called paradigms.

Now, if you're not familiar, paradigms are something

that's been used a lot in the personal development space.

It's something that people like Bob Proctor

have talked about extensively.

And let's kind of jump in and take a look at what

paradigms actually are.

So this is actually from Bob Proctor's website,

the Proctor Gallagher Institute,

and this is talking about paradigms.

Now, here we see a really good definition of paradigms

as it applies to what we're talking about right here.

Paradigms are the multitude of habits

that guide every move you make.

That is an excellent, excellent definition right there.

So the multitude of habits that guide every move you make,

in other words, the actions that you take, okay?

And then it goes on to say they affect what we eat,

walk, talk, communication and work habits

and this is what we're talking about right here,

success and failure.

So you have to also understand, and this goes on to talk

about it, and if you really want to get

more information on this, like I said,

this is on the Proctor Gallagher Institute website.

If you go to that website, you'll find this article here

if you wanna read more about paradigms.

But you have to understand something.

This brings it up right here.

Paradigms, they didn't originate with you.

You weren't born with these paradigms.

You didn't just come into this world

and think the way that you did.

They are an inheritance of other people's,

and this is the key point, other people's habits,

opinions and belief systems.

So let's kinda bounce back over to this page here.

So let's take a look here at what happens.

So, we have our experiences.

This is the things that we see.

This is the things we hear, we taste, we touch.

This is what we have experienced in life,

and what happens is, those experiences become reinforced

into our belief systems.

And our belief systems, those are what drive

our actions, right?

And our actions are what drive our reality.

So we're born.

So here's what this looks like.

We're born.

We have no control of what's coming at us.

We have no control over the external influences.

And we're born, and here we are, and we're in infancy.

Infancy.

And in infancy, we have experiences in infancy.

We don't have any control over these experiences.

These are things happening to us that we do not have

the ability to do anything about.

We hear things.

We see things.

And we experience things.

And all of this becomes reinforced over time

into the belief systems that we grow up to have.

So let's say that as we're growing up,

and eventually we get to adolescence,

and I'm gonna butcher this word.

We get to adolescence, having heard, seen

and experienced all this stuff here,

and our belief systems have already started developing.

And in adolescence, we have a little more control

over our lives, but not really, because by the time

we get to this point, we already have a belief system

driving our actions based on everything that we have

already experienced in infancy.

Now, as we age and get older and we go into our,

we finally progress through the teenage years,

I'm gonna skip that, into adulthood,

these belief systems haven't changed.

They're still there.

They are still with us.

And we are still going through the same actions,

and those actions are creating the same reality.

Now, why is this important?

What does this have to do with the business mindset?

Well, let's think about this for a minute.

We've already established that we develop

belief patterns very young.

Now, unless you're born into a family

that has a very strong belief of building businesses

and building wealth, that's the minority of families

and of people in general, about 1% believe that way,

think that way.

The remaining 99% of people, including myself

and probably those listening,

believe in concepts like working hard.

Now, there's nothing wrong with working hard.

Every wealthy person believes in working hard.

But they believe in working smart.

In other words, putting their money to work.

Whereas we have been trained to work for money, right?

We've also been taught things like money is hard to get.

We have to, you know, it's hard to acquire it.

We have to exchange our time, that's a clock, for money.

That's what we've been taught.

This is what 99% of people have been taught.

This here, that we have to work hard,

and by working hard, I mean we work for money.

We have to do work for money, rather than putting our money

to work for us, and that money is hard to earn.

And then, of course, exchanging work for money.

What does this mean?

A job, okay?

We're working for somebody else, for a predetermined value.

We have the employee mindset.

These people have the business mindset,

meaning they put their money to work for them,

that they buy assets that allow them to make money.

We have the employee mindset over here.

In other words, we work for a paycheck,

and we spend our money on luxuries.

And I don't mean luxuries as in luxury items,

like what these people get to get.

I'm talking about dining out.

I'm talking about financing a car that we can't afford.

I'm talking about living life

either within our means and not having anything else

to show for it or living extravagantly.

So this is kind of how paradigms work.

Again, recap, we're born, we have no power

over what we experience, and we start to develop

our belief patterns early on.

These belief patterns carry on to adulthood,

wherein adulthood, we join the 99% of people,

unless you're fortunate to be born

to that one percent of the population

where this is our concept of success,

how we make money.

Now, I touched on something there.

Let's take a look at success, 'cause part of the business

mindset is understanding what success means.

Now, obviously, you probably already know

what success means, so this definition is pretty

run of the mill right here, the accomplishment

of an aim or purpose.

Now, Earl Nightingale put it a different way.

He said it is the progressive realization

of a worthy ideal, okay?

So that is how Earl Nightingale put it.

And if you haven't heard of Earl Nightingale,

he wrote a, or excuse me, he did an audio broadcast

called The Strangest Secret, and if you haven't

already listened to this, this is probably

one of the coolest audios I have ever listened to.

Again, Earl Nightingale.

Look him up on YouTube.

You can actually find this audio on YouTube.

He's kind of old school, back in like the '70s

or the '50s or something.

So, and he made an audio called The Strangest Secret.

Now, The Strangest Secret is comprised really

of two main points.

The first is the definition of success,

and that was his definition of success.

The second thing that he discussed

is that we become what we think about.

Okay?

Now, let's kind of tie this in to our definition

of paradigms, according to Bob Proctor.

Now again, Bob Proctor, paradigms,

the multitude of habits, the guide of reaction move

that you make and they define our successes and failures.

We've already gone over how we develop these paradigms.

Remember, they are accumulated inheritance

of other people's habits, opinions and belief systems.

We inherited these when we were very young.

And here, negative and, this is an interesting point here,

are why 90-some percent, I would argue 99%,

of the population keeps getting the same results.

This is why the majority of people stay

in the employee mindset, the barely getting by mindset.

Okay?

So let's bounce back, success.

We become what we think about, right?

Now, some of the people think, oh, this is some voodoo,

witchcraft, law of attraction stuff.

Well, not really, if you think about it.

I mean, the definition of paradigms didn't sound

that off the wall now, did it?

We accumulate belief patterns, which define our actions,

and our actions define our reality.

There's a lot of scientific basis to that.

So Earl Nightingale's definition of becoming

what we think about isn't really off the wall at all.

In fact, it ties in nicely with that.

So let's tie this in to the main point

I'm trying to make here, and that is the success mindset.

Now, I said the business mindset,

but what I really wanna talk about is both,

the business/success mindset.

Now, let's kinda compare this here.

Let's talk about the success mindset,

and when I say success, think about it

in terms of a business owner,

and let's talk about the employee mindset, right?

Now let's think about what the characteristics

of an employee are.

An employee is somebody who generally speaking

has no ownership interest in the organization

that they are working for.

In other words, they filled out an application,

submitted a resume, got an interview

and eventually got a job, and now they work

for this company, and they work in exchange for money.

And again, they exchange their time for money.

Now, the business mindset, we'll come over here.

They have all ownership interest.

Now, if you're a partnership, obviously you share ownership,

but the success of the enterprise, you share all ownership

of that success, meaning that even if you have ownership

in a partnership or you own 50% and someone else owns 50%,

well, if the enterprise fails completely,

you have ownership of all of that failure,

just like you have ownership of all the success.

Now, you may have to split the result of that success,

50%, but you have ownership of that enterprise.

An employee, because they have no interest,

has no, no (laughing) no, no.

It's late.

Sorry, I'm recording this late.

Because they have no ownership interest,

they will basically do enough to get by,

meaning if I do enough to not get fired,

then I've done my job, I've earned my check,

and I can go cash it.

The success mindset, the business owner,

they do more than they have to.

So a lot of business owners, they already know

what they wanna do.

They have lists, they have tasks.

They're like, okay, I need to do this, this and this today

in order for the ship to stay afloat.

But a successful business owner will say, okay,

you know what, though, I should also do this,

this and this, because we don't wanna just stay afloat,

we wanna grow, we wanna scale, we wanna get bigger.

So they do more than they have to.

The employee does enough to get by.

They're just looking to get their check

at the end of the day.

Now, the business owner invests in themselves extensively.

What do I mean by this?

They know that the success of their business

is largely dependent on the kinds of skills

that they have, you know, are they able to write copy?

Are they able to design funnels?

Are they able to drive traffic?

And these are all things you can outsource,

and that itself is a skill set, you know, outsource,

knowing where to find reliable talent

who can do all of this stuff.

That is another skill source.

When you're first starting out and you're a solopreneur,

you're gonna be learning a lot of this yourself.

You won't have a lot of capital to work with.

This is, these are all skills that you have to learn

yourself, and you have to be willing to invest

in yourself, and what do we mean by invest?

There's two components, money and time.

Learning a skill is gonna cost you, most likely.

Yeah, there's a lot of free information on the internet.

But a lot of the higher level information

is behind closed doors, and the entry,

the key to that, those doors, is money.

And of course, like any skill,

it's gonna take time to learn.

(coughing)

Excuse me.

So they're willing to invest.

Now, with an employee, some might be willing to invest,

but most of the time, they are,

they're not willing to invest very much.

Now, here's why.

They don't have ownership.

If the business succeeds or fails,

it doesn't matter to them.

Here's what they'll do.

The employee will go and get another job.

The business goes under, the business fails,

they get laid off, well first off, they're gonna collect

unemployment for a certain number of months,

and in the meantime they're gonna be applying

and eventually they're gonna find another job.

So they're not really willing to invest,

because they see their position as very changeable.

Not only can they get terminated or laid off,

but something better might come along.

And they can leave at any point, no questions asked.

So they're not really willing to invest very much.

Now some people will like go to school

and develop skills to make themselves more marketable,

but as far as the business that they're working at is

concerned, they're not looking to better themselves

for the benefit of the business.

They're looking to better themselves

for the benefit of themselves.

They're looking to make themselves more marketable.

And they're not making themselves more marketable

for a company they already work for.

What they're making themselves more marketable for is

a company that will pay them more, will give them more

benefits, maybe more time off.

Their motivation to invest in themselves

is purely self-driven based on what they can get.

So, open up another page here.

I really like this Microsoft Edge,

'cause I can kinda open up a browser and draw on it.

So we've kind of gone over the difference

between the employee and the business person.

And we've talked about how what we think about

drives who we become.

Paradigms are those habits that have been developed,

that we inherited from a very young age.

So let's talk about what we need to do in order to shift

from the employee to the business owner, okay?

Now again, from a very young age,

we have been trained to think a certain way.

We have been trained to go to school,

to go get a job, to work 30, 35 years,

finally retire with a 401k or a pension.

Have you seen the number of people on retirement,

401k or pensions, even with their Social Security,

a lot of them are just barely getting by.

Earl Nightingale gives an interesting statistic

in his audio of The Strangest Secret.

Again, go listen to it.

But he uses a breakdown of 100 people, right?

And they start out at the age of 25,

and he looks at them at the age of 65, right?

And at the age of 25, 100% of those people

wanna be successful.

They all want to achieve success.

But by the time they're 65, here is how many

have actually achieved some measure of success: 5%.

Two out of those 100% are considered wealthy.

3% are what are considered financially secure.

And the rest are either working or, morbidly, dead.

So out of a hundred people, out of a population

of a hundred people, only 5% are in a place, financially,

that would be considered successful,

even though at 25 they wanted to be successful.

They wanted to have the money.

They wanted to buy the house.

They wanted to have the car.

They wanted to travel.

They wanted to all this stuff.

But only 5% have gotten to do all that, really,

to the level that they wanted to when they were 25.

So what do we have to do in order to switch

from being an employee to a business owner?

Well, if you're watching this, you've already made

the decision that you wanna shoot for this,

and I applaud you for that, 'cause that is exactly

where I think you personally should be,

working for yourself, driving your own destiny,

not letting someone else assign your value for you,

basically say your time is worth this amount of money to me.

So what do you have to do?

First off, I'm gonna tell you this right now.

This is what I've done.

This is gonna sound like common sense, but do it.

Read. Read books.

If you're looking for what books to read,

Millionaire Success Habits.

Millionaire Success Habits by Dean Graziosi.

Great book, great book.

It will give you practical pointers that you can use

to start switching your mindset

from the employee mindset to the business owner mindset,

from a failure mindset to the success mindset.

Millionaire Success Habits.

Brendon Buchard's The Motivation Manifesto.

Great book.

Again, Brendon Buchard.

I'm probably butchering his first name,

but at least I got his right last name, okay?

Listen to the audio book.

So not just read, but listen to audiobooks.

And again, The Strangest Secret, it's free.

And any of the audios by Earl Nightingale.

Listen to these.

He talks extensively about, like I said,

this right here, this is discussed in The Strangest Secret.

He talks about this extensively.

He talks about the mindset you wanna have

and how to develop it.

This is a great one to listen to.

Other people to read or listen to.

Again, Proctor, he talks about the paradigms.

Other people to listen to, Anik Singal.

He wrote a book called Escape, and this one

talks about going from employee to entrepreneur.

So these are just a few here, but seriously,

just Google books on success mindset.

I guarantee you, it'll pull up a laundry list

of books you can read to help you start to develop

this mindset here.

They will talk about the success mindset,

but really, in order to be a business owner,

you have to have the success mindset.

You have to think like a successful person.

These are just a few books you can read.

This little list right here,

Millionaire Success Habits, Motivation Manifesto,

The Strangest Secret, anything by Bob Proctor,

Anik Singal's Escape.

This little handful of books'll get you started

in the right direction.

And here's what's going to happen.

As you read, as you learn, here's what's gonna

start to happen.

Your sphere of understanding's gonna start out really small,

and then you're gonna read another book

or listen to another audio.

It's gonna get a little bit bigger

and a little bit bigger and a little bit bigger

and a little bit bigger and a little bit bigger,

and it's just gonna keep growing bigger and bigger

and bigger and bigger and bigger.

You started here, and then at one point,

maybe a couple months down the month,

you're gonna realize, you started here.

You didn't know any of this.

You didn't understand any of this success mindset stuff,

and now you're way out here.

You've got all these layers of knowledge now,

all these layers of understanding.

Your belief systems that you currently have

begin to change.

And they'll change automatically.

Yeah, you'll have to do some exercises.

You might do things like affirmations in the morning.

You might create a vision board.

You might do certain things, external things,

to help you with changing your mentality.

But just by reading and listening,

your mindset will begin to shift.

What I do every morning, this is what my morning looks like.

Okay, this is what I do.

First thing I do, even before I touch my business,

is I'll listen to The Strangest Secret.

Right, Earl Nightingale.

That's 45 minutes long.

That's how I start my day.

And then I'll do a practice where I'll write down

10 things that I'm grateful for.

And then I'll do my business affirmation,

where I will basically state what my ideal year,

and this is an exercise you'll actually learn.

Bob Proctor talks about it,

but it's in Millionaire Success Habits,

but they'll use the example of instead of saying,

"I am successful, I am successful, I am successful,"

they'll say, you know what?

Write down what your ideal year looks like.

This year, I went, and they say write it down

in the past tense, as if it already happened.

I went to Disneyland with my family.

You know, things like that.

Talk about your business success.

My business made over, you know, whatever amount

you wanna make, let's just say it, a million bucks, why not?

Dot, dot, dot, dot.

You know, things like that.

You write your affirmation.

You say this over and over.

And I just do it once.

This one, I just do once in the morning.

In the Earl Nightingale audio, they're gonna

talk about writing your goal, your worthy intention,

on a note card and reading that multiple times per day,

and on your note card, you know, you're basically

gonna say what your goal is, and you're gonna say it

in a statement that's an affirmative statement,

I will earn X amount of dollars by,

and then a definitive date.

Not just I'll earn this money.

What date are you gonna earn this money by?

Is it gonna be five years from now?

Is it gonna be 10 years from now?

Whatever the case may be.

How you're gonna earn this money.

I will earn it by, you know, what are you gonna do?

You're gonna sell high-quality products.

You're gonna coach people, you're gonna help people,

you're gonna provide some service.

Now, it's important to remember.

I kind of wanna touch on this real quick

before we wrap this up.

But the amount of money you earn will always, always,

again, always be in direct proportion

to the amount of value you provide,

how much you're worth to someone else,

how much the information you have is worth

to someone else.

So if you wanna make a million dollars in a year,

you have to provide a million dollars in value.

That doesn't mean you have to sell a million dollars,

you know, I mean, that could mean just selling

a million dollars in product, but look at it this way.

What if you promoted a product

and this product was a high-quality product

and it allowed a thousand people to earn a thousand dollars?

Well, what does that equal?

You got it, a million bucks.

You don't have to sell a million dollars in value

in one go.

Like I said, you just help a thousand people

make a thousand dollars, and you've provided

a million dollars in value.

It's pretty straightforward.

So kinda to wrap up, I know we've

kinda gone through a lot tonight.

This is a lot longer than I meant to make it,

but the main thing I really want to express to you

is the importance of the business mindset,

that you need to get the business mindset first.

You have these paradigms.

They've been put into your brain from day one.

You know, you've been working off of these same belief

systems since you were an infant, and you're probably

still operating on them, so if you want to get

to that level of success, if you want to be an effective

business owner, you're gonna have to work on replacing

those paradigms with belief systems

that are going to serve you.

So that's all for tonight.

I'm glad you tuned in.

I'm glad you listened.

I'm grateful you stuck with me.

I really, really, really want you to be successful,

so, like I said, go out there, pick up one of those books,

the Dean Graziosi book, the Anik Singal book.

I mean, if anything, pull up a YouTube,

listen to the Earl Nightingale audio, The Strangest Secret,

45 minutes, it's absolutely mind-blowing.

It's completely free.

If you do nothing but that, that's gonna get you started

in the right pattern, so I wish you all the success,

and I look forward to us tuning in together soon

in the next video of this series.

Again, this is Bryan from Praetereo signing out.

Thank you.
