Open Water Triathlon Swimming Q&A - Duration: 9:42.

- Stay tuned for tears.

- So she's actually the celebrity.

- It's these yahoos.

- Morning, Trainiacs!

As you might be able to see from these old,

what is that, radio?

Who does radio anymore?

You know who does radio?

I do radio!

After yesterday's long swim,

heading to our national CBC radio station morning show,

I think they wanna hear who the yahoos are that

decided to swim in the Red River.

It's these yahoos.

(upbeat electronic music)

- Swimming against the water or?

- Oh, no.

Thank goodness, no.

(upbeat electronic music)

- Triathlon Kim used to be in the media

so she's actually the celebrity all-around.

Even though I'm on the radio.

(upbeat electronic music)

- Did you ever have one of those friends

that says hey, we should do this.

Well, it started as a crazy idea and then it got serious.

Yesterday, after months of training,

three men accomplished their goal of swimming

37 kilometers of the Red River.

Taren Gesell, Pat Peacock, and the CBC's own

Jacques Marcoux swam from the south perimeter

to the north perimeter.

So how is Taren Gesell feeling

after more than nine hours in the water?

Well, he's in studio this morning.

Thanks for coming in after your day like that.

- Thanks for having me.

- How are you feeling this morning?

- Sore.

Very sore.

- Yes, and?

Accomplished?

- Yeah, a little bit.

It's a bit surreal.

I was saying--

(upbeat electronic music)

- His friends and fellow athletes, Pat Peacock

and the CBC's very own Jacques Marcoux.

I don't know if Jacques's in the office or not today

but we better get a kick.

Thank you.

Super fun, yeah.

I love listening--

(water running)

- That is that.

I'm gonna have to vlog left-handed today.

This hand, of all the things that are sore,

that wrist, that wrist is by far the worst.

And, as they say in there, alright, what's next.

Well, what's next is an enormous breakfast at Stella's.

Or Clementine's.

It's gonna be big, I'll tell you that much.

Yeah, coffee would be great.

Yes, yes, yes to all.

(upbeat electronic music)

(groaning)

Soreness and fatigue is setting in.

So things from yesterday that are worth note.

Yeah, that hurt a fair bit.

My jaw did not hurt that much.

My forehead, right here, from the big goggles,

that hurt quite a bit.

There's just constant pressure right there.

The most painful thing, like painful structurally, was here.

Right there and then on the inside 'cause as you're treading

water you're kinda kicking that way.

But right there, that core from just constantly kicking,

the abdominal muscles got really tuckered out and the cold.

The cold, the cold, the cold, the cold.

Pat pulling out at 27 k, I wasn't there to see it

and the guys actually decided not to tell me

because I was about a mile behind

and it was so cold that the guys, normally they'd swim up

at every nutrition stop, they'd wait for me.

They couldn't tread water.

You stop, you instantly started shaking

so you had to keep moving and then

even as you were moving, you're cold.

And Pat just being so damn fit with an eight-pack

and having no body fat, he froze.

It was so cold that I was expecting a whole lot

of internal mental chatter of Taren versus Taren

with Taren saying no, stop, stop, stop, stop.

You shouldn't be doing this, get out,

boat's right there, shore's right there, you can stop.

And then other Taren saying shut up.

Shut up, shut up, no.

I'm gonna finish, just gotta finish this,

this is a very big day, focus, focus.

This Taren and this Taren basically went away.

The entire day was almost being brain dead.

That people would talk to me and I don't know

if I answered many questions like what do you want?

They would maybe bet one word answers.

There was one time when my dad asked me, "How do you feel?"

I said, "So, so cold."

And he said, "Is there anything I can do?"

There are a million things that he could probably do

and my answer?

"No."

And then I just kept swimming.

Time started going by, when I had two hours left

it seemed like nothing, like I was basically finished.

But time just started going by like (snaps) half hour,

(snaps) half hour, (snaps) half hour, (snaps) half hour.

I think it was because my body was basically shutting down

and putting as much effort into just turning over

my arms as possible and keeping going.

And I actually swam the last third of it

basically with my eyes closed.

So yeah, I'm egged up.

I am toasted up.

I am coffeed up.

I am chia puddinged up.

Back to real life.

(groaning)

Hey, Trainiacs.

As promised, we--

you are so crooked.

We'll answer, your open water marathon swimming questions.

What did I use to stop chafing?

Body Glide, lots of it.

What kind of watch do I use?

A Garmin 920 XD.

Yes, it is tri-friendly.

What water pree--

Pee.

What water-proof music device do I use?

I use the Finesse Duo.

How did the wetsuit hold up?

Let's go see.

(laughing)

Awful.

Look at that.

This is this wetsuit's last dance anyway.

When the water temperature is hot enough

that you can choose between wearing a wetsuit or not,

when would you go for just a tri-suit to save time in T1

or would you always go for a wetsuit when I can?

Yes, I am not a very strong swimmer.

If you don't have a swimming background

a wetsuit helps because you're more buoyant,

you stay higher in the water, you go faster.

What is the hardest thing I've done in my life,

including non-Triathlon events.

We're talking endurance events, probably yesterday.

How much of that truckload of candy did I end up eating?

Lots!

How long did it take me to train for this?

Three months of very specific training,

eight years of building up the base of fitness.

Did I have a stroke-rate I was aiming for?

No, but I held 27 strokes a minute.

Did I swim with the current?

Yes, and what speed was the current?

Standard open water swimming speed is somewhere

around three k an hour.

We were going, at times, 5.3.

How could hypothermia have been prevented?

Most open water English Channel swimmers

will actually put on 40, 50, 60 pounds

before doing the open water swim and they'll cold train.

50 km swim next time or is 37 pushed to the max?

I don't know yet.

The thing about these long swims are that

right past 3 1/2 hours, it's all painful.

You just kinda keep enduring.

And you could probably endure for days on end,

you just don't want to.

What entry-level wetsuit would I recommend?

An Xterra.

How should they generally fit?

Tight in as many places as you can except for the shoulders.

What's my take on the report that you read

about a sewage dump that occurred a few days ago

in the Red River?

Yes, an Olympic-sized swimming pool worth of sewage

was dumped in the Red River four days before we did this.

Media sensationalizes everything and they use big numbers

like 2.7 million liters of sewage,

an Olympic-sized swimming pool amount of sewage,

but compared to the amount of river that we swam through,

it is 1/1,000 the volume, if that.

And it's been pushed away for four days.

Also, Jacques pooped in the water so.

How many calories were burned?

I worked it out to about 6,000 not including the heat loss.

The heat loss probably amounted to, I don't know,

another two, three, four thousand.

So nine, 10,000 calories.

How do you spot whilst swimming a long distance?

We would just look for corners and bends in the river

and then we would swim tangents from one corner to the next.

And that's it.

We blasted through comments that have built up

in just a couple, that's like two hours since uploading

so thanks for getting into those comments

with all of your questions.

Fun thing that Kim just came up with as an idea,

she said that I might not do the best job

of communicating all of the despair or the sad things,

the challenges that happened yesterday

and I'm just all happy-go-lucky.

She is a reporter and is very good at asking

cut deep to the bone questions.

So tomorrow, we're gonna have a no-Triathlon Kim

interviews Triathlon Taren about the long swim.

Stay tuned for tears, Trainiacs, stay tuned for tears.

How to Find Your Life Path Number and What it Says About You - Duration: 8:10.

How to Find Your Life Path Number and What it Says About You

BY GOSTICA

How to Find Your Life Path Number and What it Says About You

In both Astrology and Numerology, your birth date is significant in determining parts of

your destiny.

In Astrology you look towards the planets for answers, but in Numerology you use the

numbers of your birthdate to determine your Life Path Number.

This number is believed to hold clues as to part of your purpose in this lifetime and

what lessons and experiences you are likely to fulfill.

Here is how to determine your Life Path Number:

Begin by converting your birthdate into single digits.

So for example, if you are born on August 20, 1980 you would do this:

Month: 8 (August is the 8th month)

Day: 2+0 =2

Year: 1+9+8+0= 18 (Keep reducing this number to a single digit)

1+8=9

Then you would add these three numbers together:

8+2+9= 19

(Month+Day+Year)

Again, reduce this number further till it is a number between 1-9

1+9=10

1+0=1

This would give you a Life Path Number of 1.

The only time you would not reduce the numbers down is if you get a 11, 22 or 33 at any step

along the way.

This is because these are known as Master or Power Numbers.

For example, my birthdate is 29th December 1988

Month: 1+2=3

Day: 2+9= 11 (This is a Master number so it doesnt need to be reduced to a single digit)

Year: 1+9+8+8=26

2+6=8

If I add these together 3+11+8=22

My Life Path Number would be 22.

(Again, this number does not have to be reduced to a single digit as it is a Master Number).

Here is what your Life Path Number Means:

Life Path Number 1

You are a born leader, motivator and inspiration to those around you.

You are ambitious and are often a well respected, especially in your career.

You are best suited to learning on your own and from experience.

into your true power.

Life Path Number 2

You are a born companion, best friend and employee.

Life will always be easier for you when you are following in the footsteps of those before

you.

You are a gentle soul and are always able to see others points of view.

You forgive easily and are often the first one to compromise or sacrifice something.

You have a strong desire to be loved and accepted and this can sometimes lead you astray.

You are destined to help support and guide others using your diplomatic and open minded

approach.

You are an excellent friend, mentor and support to those in need.

Life Path Number 3

You are a creative and self-expressive soul with a strong ability to communicate and socialize.

creative and self-expressiveYou are extremely intelligent and have the ability to almost

see through the minds of others.

You are knowledgeable about a lot of things and often have talents in multiple areas.

You are enthusiastic at heart and thrive when you are able to express yourself.

You are also emotionally sensitive and enjoy being attached to others.

At times however, you can be too clingy and lose your independence.

You can also err on the side of forgetfulness or carelessness and those around you may be

frustrated by your flighty nature.

this life.

others.

for everything that you do.

You are likely to be very prosperous in this life as not only are you intelligent, but

you are also responsible and conservative with material possessions.

You can be stubborn at times and can be prone to workaholic tendencies.

You also may take on more burdens than necessary, especially when it comes to your friends and

family.

You are known to be reliable and if you dont hold your boundaries in place, people can

take advantage of you.

You have the knack of tacking a creative idea and turning it into a reality.

At times you can be narrow minded and limited in your thinking and beliefs.

You are destined to bring order and structure to your life and the lives of those around

you.

You are also grounded and dependable.

You have the gift of being able to take ideas and give them roots or legs

to stand on.

Starting The Base | MC Cubed Ep.02 | Survival Multiplayer Minecraft 1.12 | Closed Captioned - Duration: 14:31.

Welcome back, my friends, to MC Cubed.

Today we will be starting our base.

Quick disclaimer,

I'm a little bit sick, so this video may be.. short

and I...

It may be mostly.. just jumping to progress updates.

We are in a savanna, it's where our base will take place.

I've also got a village that way? No, this way.

There's a village this way, in a desert, that will also be...

for future projects.

'Cause the project here, our main base

is going to be an ecovillage,

and.. mob farms

and...

well, regular farms like food farms

don't really work in an ecovillage.

At least not the one I'm going to do because

monoculture farming is bad for the environment and they wouldn't have one

they wouldn't have m- m- monoculture farms in an ecovillage.

Just trying to stay slightly realistic.

The main house of our base area will be up here

and it will be ca- it will be something called an earthship.

I don't really know how to explain to you what an earthship is

so I have the definition in front of me.

"An earthship is a type of passive solar house that is made of both natural

and upcyp- up-"

Blah blahblahblah.

"...and upcycled materials such as earth packed tires."

Its.. basiclly.. a...

It's basically an off grid house

that is

cheap to make

and...

uses man made materials

like the.. definition said it.. uh..

earth packed tires which are tires that

you shove dirt into then hammer the dirt in with..

a sledgehammer and then..

I forgot what I was saying.

Oh! And once its packed tight, you add more dirt and

until it's completely full and packed tight and none of the dirt is coming out.

I highly suggest looking it up, its quite interesting.

And I'm going to..

clear out this area off camera, set up

some markers for the build

and get back to you.

So, Little Mouse just came by to bring me a cake.

[keyboard clacking]

Don't know why but happy about it.

Alright, I've cleared out an area

and laid out the

planing for the interrer rooms.

Interior rooms.

Um..

I feel like there was a typo in that message.

[keyboard clack] Hold on one second.

Alright, sorry for that interruption.

Also sorry if you just heard the noise of me pushing my glasses up [mic scratching]

on my face and now I just hit my microphone.

That's great.

Um.. What was I saying?

Right! This is the lay out for the interior, kind of.

Um.. This'll be the

the dining area,

the kitchen will be over here,

that's a bedroom and this'll be a storage room.

Maybe vice versa.

[quietly] Hm.

But let's start with the

with the bedroom.

The backs are going to be- Awe, that sucks.

The backs are going to be curved.

And.. I'm not sure

quite.. how I want to do the...

interior.

Or, sorry, the walls. It is the interior.

I think that's better.

Four tall.

Yeah, I think that's good.

The- the front will be taller than the back though, so..

maybe six in the front.

That's six right? One, two, three, four, five, six. Yep.

I'm.. actually real excited to be part of a server.

Because I just

it can get a little lonely

when you're the..

only person progressing.. the world.

I know that a lot of people like to play Minecraft that way.

You have complete control over what's being built,

you don't have to worry about

other people

taking your stuff or- Not that that's an issue on this server but

[whispering] Where's that tree? Here it is.

I'm just excited to be playing with other people, see what other people create. Like

I think

Mongo said he was going to be

building a

underwater

base.. in the middle of the ocean.

I'm not sure what Dragon.. is making

but I know he- I remember it being corp- cormp-

compartmentalized.

But it's just gonna be exciting to

to be able to log on

and see that new things are around. You know?

So I just came back from

the...

zombie xp farm to

get some experience for fixing my tools when I came across another cake

from.. Mouse.

So, that's nice.

I feel like she's probably been doing some villager breeding.

[voice cracking] Yeah.

[clears throat] Wow, I think my voice just cracked.

Alright, so quick progress update

I've finished this room and I've decided that this is gonna be the storage room.

Uh.. Mongo helped me with the door frame.

He...

His idea was, uh, stone bricks

and then he suggested you could also use slabs and stairs and blah blah blah,

and that gave me the idea for this.

Which I really like it. I was trying to do the, um..

the acacia wood

but right here you could see the orange and it just

didn't go well

with the rest of the build.

I think the inside looks nice.

Kinda simple but it's got some depth and...

I might switch out some of these stairs with, um...

some oak, I think.

Def- I- I was gonna say dark oak but I think dark oak would be too dark.

For this setting, anyways.

But besides that, I'm happy with the ro- wi- with t- the way this turned out.

And over here

[keyboard clack]

where the...

the bedroom is going to be will look pretty much

the same except the door is going to be here.

And then this will be the dining area.

I think I said that earlier though.

So, uh...

yeah, end of progress update, I'll get back to you when I've done some more.

So, I've finished.. this room

and have decided it is the storage room.

Nothing fancy.

Not sure quite how I'm going to organize it yet.

But I know that anything that I mine,

like stone, diorite, granite,

cobblestone, ores, is going to be

in that cave that's behind the trees over there.

Right there.

And over here I've decided is the bedroom,

and like I said earlier

right now it pretty much just looks the same.

That'll change though.

Once we get beds.. or a bed, rather.

and decorations and...

all that other great stuff that goes into a...

a bedroom.

Not sure if I mentioned this earlier but

um...

the reason that I'm leaving this

empty for now is...

I want to play around with some glazed terracotta.

The same with the hallways. This.. is a hallway

and so is that one over there.

I want to play around with some terracotta.

Which requires finding a mesa, which I found

but.. I lost all of my diamond tools

so I can't.. make a portal

and I- I found it

[whispering] using a portal..

[sharp breath] [normally] I- its complicated, I'm not explaining it right.

The point is

its gonna take a little bit of time to

get to the mesa.

So next episode, we'll most likely be...

building...

or at least setting up

a zombie xp farm.

Which I think I found over here.

T- the spawner, that is.

I think I found it over here though it might be over there, somewhere.

I don't know, I screenshotted it

so it'll be easy to find.

And I know that I've said that

mob spawners don't really work in an ecovillage build

but you have to take the spawners how you get them.

You can't just hope there'll be

the spawner you want in, uh...

in where you want to build it.

Um..

That'll be it for this video.

Thank you.. so much for watching,

If you want to see the progress of this build and the rest of the server,

subscribe or follow if you're on Vidme

And.. I hope you come back.

5 Min Hacks: Networking for Adults at VidCon 2017 - Duration: 5:01.

Heyyo it's The 9to5 MisFits, Pavi and Nammy back again to help you crush

unemployment and find that dream career. You can catch us doing 5-min hacks

every Tuesday and telling stories every Thursday, so hit subscribe, and for you

long form nerds; we have a podcast on iTunes and a blog on BizLatte.com

Today, we're doing a throwback to our How to Network at a Conference video because

we went to VidCon and we got to test some of those networking techniques, baby

So what is VidCon? Basically it's a conference for anyone doing online video

content, so there were three different types of attendies. For one, there was

the 'Community' which was more for kids to see their favorite YouTubers, then there

were the 'Creators', like us, who have YouTube channels and then some other

'Industry' people who were mostly brands and companies, the big wigs, who were there

to interact with content creators. This was our first time at VidCon and we

really wanted to make the most of it and tell you how we did that!

There was a lot to learn for this conference so we decided to

seriously plan ahead, think about which seminar each of us was going to attend

and because there were so many, we divided and conquered baby! Yeah I

think there was one thing we attended together, Oh my gosh, yes.

It was amazingly informative and such valuable information from legit panelists and

presenters and we got informational stuff that we would have never heard of before

So, we learned a lot

This was a little harder to do at VidCon; at South by Southwest, there are a lot of badgeless events

Really, again? Muhuaha. There weren't a lot of unofficial events that you

could attend, here it was much more exclusive and even among the badge holders

you didn't really get a lot of facetime with

anyone who wasn't at your level, so we felt like pleebs. So yeah, in general, there

just wasn't a lot of networking to be done here and I guess, that had a lot to do

with the type of people that attend; it wasn't very businessy, because there were so

many kids. So one thing we did do was try to hang

out at like hotel bars near the Convention Center, for other reasons,

,we wanted to hang out with a diverse range of

people and people weren't as forthcoming. The last was really great because

they had a combined Industry + Creator track party; we got to meet some amazing people.

So, we had our elevator pitch down, we knew

exactly why we were at VidCon, we knew exactly, what we wanted to get out of it

and we made sure to communicate that to everyone we met; we also did the classics

like chat up people in line; or get to sessions early, sit at the front, so you can

talk to more people before the session; Also, I learned a new thing, which is

listen more than you speak, which is so hard for extroverts.

Another thing we did was deliberately attend separate seminars in

because often what happens is if you go with someone you know to a conference

you tend to stick with that one person, right? and since we were at different

sessions most of the times we were forced to meet some incredible,

inspiring people.. all in all you rule of thumb - use people's names and don't be

snobby about whom you talk to. Seriously it is such a diverse crowd and we found out

that YouTube is one of those spaces where anyone and everyone can play.

So, all in all, fantastic experience! There were a few Cons.

Like, too many kids, that's understandable. Is it? NEVER. Of course, the lack of networking

opportunities because we didn't get to talk to a lot of the bigger YouTubers or

the industry folks one-on-one, and I mean we could've sprang for an industry badge

but it was SO expensive. Also there were a few under underrepresented groups.

Yas! There were like, countable South Asian YouTubers, on my one hand.. not even 2. Yeah, there were 4.

And of course, some of the workshops and panels were

better than others; some are kind of scary like the trolls that showed up at

them; we'll talk about that on Thursday Negativity aside, the were a lot of

Pros. I mean there was so much new stuff to learn; we learnt about analytics,

collaborations, brands, sponsorship and one of the coolest things by far was an

intimate roundtable with a famous YouTuber. I got to sit in with Joe Penna, an

amazing animator and Nammy go to sit in with Kati Morton, a famous

therapist (because I needed it)... so that's the other thing, YouTube celebs are so

approachable, they're real people you guys, it's a very supportive

community, especially the older bunch. Yeah, so definitely check out our Thursday video

where you see more footage. Did I see footage weirdly? You said fittage, I thought

it was fittage... so yeah definitely check out the video because you see a lot more

footage at VidCon; and even if VidCon not your jam but you still want to know how

to crush it at a conference; yeah check out our video on 'How to network at

a conference' above and guys we seriously love hearing from you so just

get in touch over social media and we will see you next week with a brand new

5-minute Hack! Bye!
