so I went to the river Tejo

but with the rain also the waters were very brown

but I wanted to have something to show you

so I went to do what I thought I would do that was to fish for mullets with bread

I ended up taking a lot, I'll leave two or three in the video.

My kayak is getting an upgrade

If you wanna hide away on a tropical island, a place where you choose to stay is really important

because you can calm your mind and ease your soul,

especially when you are surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers.

Today, I've got a really great idea. Let's follow me what it is!

If you swoon when you pass a coffee bar, imagine that smell when the most fragrant of blends is covered all over your body.

This scrub utilizes the natural acids in coffee to remove dead skin cells and smooth away roughness

while the rice milk combined to tone tired skin.

The therapist here at La Veranda Resort is very professional.

If you have a chance, you should give it a try.

Sea Kayak is an eco-friendly activity.

Phu Quoc Island provides ideal weather conditions and calm waters during most time of the year.

More and more resorts now provide either free or rental kayak for visitors.

If you want to exercise, Long Beach provides plenty of open space with very little boat traffic.

I love to start my day with this great activity. How about you?

It's a great time to enjoy the beach here in Phu Quoc because you can swim in the sea anywhere

and you can kayak.

And, of course, the sunshine is so nice.

So, don't forget to sunbathe if you want to get a little tanned here.

So, this is the night market of the island.

'Dỏ Dèn'. The name in Vietnamese is ''Dỏ Dèn'

So, it is for any festivals or it is normal?

Normal.

Every day, they decorate the market like this?

Yes.

OK.

In your country, you can see this?

Is it palm?

Yes, it produces sugar.

Sugar. Palm sugar.

Over there is grilled corn.

What is the name (of the mushroom)?

Nam Tram.

Nam Tram?

So, this is 'Nam Tram', a kind of mushroom that is found only on Phu Quoc Island.

Phu Quoc Island is very famous for its fish sauce, so there are many fish sauce factories around the island.

Here I am at one of the famous ones called 'Phung Hung' factory

which is located in the southern part of the island, in An Thoi Town.

And here, a local friend told me that they put fish and salt into this big wooden jar.

You see a lot of them around me.

They put (fish and salt) in there for one year.

So, they ferment for a year and then it becomes quality fish sauce in which they put into a bottle.

And they sell it for about 6.5-7 US Dollars.

Alright. I think it's one of the very good quality souvenirs that you should buy back home.

Do you know that Vietnam is the largest pepper producer and exporter in the world?

Phu Quoc pepper is considered unique and one of the best peppers in Asia.

The soil on Phu Quoc Island is extremely rich in quartz which is necessary mineral needed for strong peppercorn plant growth.

Currently, there are over 400 hectares of pepper plantations and farms

found throughout the central and northern regions of the island.

And just next to the paper farm, there's a large variety of paper products for you to choose from.

For example, two kinds in my hand.

This is black pepper. Very popular.

And this is white paper.

My local friend told me that this one is a little more spicy.

And also, they have red pepper or crushed pepper.

A variety of products for you in different kinds of packaging.

My local friend told me to buy peppers that have not been crushed like this one.

Everywhere in ASEAN or Southeast Asia, if you want to experience really local life,

you should come to a local market.

And here I am now at one of the local markets on the western part of the island.

We're going to walk around this narrow street along the canal which is connected to the sea.

In the evening time like this, it's quite busy. Especially, there are a lot of motorbikes all around.

I think there are more motorbikes than passers-by.

So, at the local market here, you can find a lot of local shop selling meats, like beef, pork, even dog, and seafood meats.

And also a lot of fruits like cherry apples, mangoes, guavas, dragon fruits.

Many kinds of fruits and vegetables.

And, of course, they have flowers for sale here too.

Protests broke out recently in Iran

over the poor economy.

And that has China worried.

According to this article from Radio Free Asia,

...China's propaganda department told state-run media

not to report on the Iranian protests.

For some reason they don't want Chinese people

learning about a popular uprising

against an authoritarian regime

started by people upset over economic hardship.

Plus, online forums discussing

anything to do with Iran

are being monitored.

And let's just say,

they're open to the idea of detaining people.

That's the way to stop protests from getting started.

Preemptive detention.

Before on the show,

I've talked about how there's a political battle

raging between current Chinese leader Xi Jinping

and a faction tied to former Chinese leader

and Jabba the Hutt's personal mini-me,

Jiang Zemin.

To be the Master Blaster of Chinese politics

it's important to control two things—

the military and the police.

Well, Xi Jinping has spent years

purging the military of Jiang Zemin's cronies

and getting himself named Commander in Xi-ef.

Now he's after the police.

Specifically the paramilitary police.

One of the big things Xi did at the end of 2017

was to have the paramilitary police report directly to

the Central Military Commission.

Which Xi is in charge of.

Xi's speech to the paramilitary police

follows another speech he made last week

to the actual military.

He told soldiers not to fear death.

Inspirational words for soldiers

who fight on the front lines.

But for soldiers who are still in training,

fearing death is a good thing.

It could save your life

if you're bad at, say,

grenades.

Just throwing that out there.

Why the big speech?

Xi Jinping probably just felt the army

needed a little kick in the rear.

Apparently they've wasting time

building snowmen.

Can we zoom out a little on that tank one?

Well, someone's getting preemptively sent to detention.

But as impressive as the PLA is

at building snow propaganda,

they can't compete with the the annual

Harbin Ice Festival.

10,000 people worked for months

crafting this winter wonderland that will be seen

by an estimated 1.5 million people.

Sadly none of them will be me.

Of course the cold isn't fun and games for everyone.

This little boy has become something of a national hero

after this photo of him went viral.

His hair is coated in frost after his daily

three mile walk to school in a thin jacket.

Wow, his hands look like he's been

working in a coal mine

for the last 50 years.

But he got a 99 on his test!

His name is Wang Fuman,

and people are calling him Ice Boy.

The rural school he goes to doesn't even have

heat in the winter.

He and his sister are left behind children—

their father is a migrant worker

trying to earn money in the city,

and only comes home every 4 or 5 months.

Their mother abandoned the family.

The good news is that his photo

has inspired people across China

to donate winter clothing to a local youth charity.

And the school has received

over 15,000 dollars in donations so far.

Which means Ice Boy finally gets gloves.

Plus, someone offered his dad

a construction job close to home,

so he can actually see his kids.

Someday Ice Boy will be able to tell his children,

with complete honesty,

when I was your age,

I had to walk 3 miles to school everyday,

in the snow,

uphill,

both ways.

And here are the viral videos to prove it.

And his kids will say,

"What's a video?"

In other news, ever want to own a skyscraper?

Well now you can!

A court in Shanxi is trying to dump this beautiful,

39-story skyscraper on Taobao,

China's version of Ebay.

You can own it for just 84 million dollars.

Basically, the builders ran out of money

before it could be completed

and it's just been sitting there

ever since 2010.

Now the first auction

was not the most successful.

Zero people bid on it.

But don't worry,

you haven't missed your chance!

The Shanxi court has a new plan.

Another auction!

Is the GOP ready for the midterms under Trump

Veteran Republicans are fretting that their party is ill-prepared for a brutal midterm

campaign that will be largely dictated by President Trump.

After years of running against former President Barack Obama, and with so many Republicans

in Congress having been elected since the GOP wave elections of 2010 and 2014, few have

experience in withstanding the sort of strong headwinds generated by full control of government

and an unpopular president of their own party.

Many Republicans appear unconvinced that major Democratic gains are even possible this November.

Despite polls showing danger ahead, they are comforting themselves with the memory of Trump�s

unlikely victory, in defiance of long political odds and expert prognosticators.

�There�s probably is a little bit of optimism that, we�re not going to lose the majority

� that it�s going to be bad but we won�t lose,� a House Republican with deep political

experience told the Washington Examiner Thursday, on condition of anonymity in order to speak

candidly. �I think it�s very likely we�ll lose the majority if we don�t change some

factors. We�ve got to change the landscape or we�re going to lose the majority for

sure.�

Sen. John Thune of South Dakota is encouraged by the initial precautions his party is taking

to protect its majorities in Congress. The third-ranking Senate Republican is optimistic

that a booming economy and recently passed tax overhaul that could cut taxes for millions

of voters gives the GOP a strong opportunity to hold the line.

Thune lived through the Democratic tsunamis of 2006 and 2008, each a rejection of GOP

leadership in Congress and President George W. Bush. He warned fellow Republicans to be

mindful of history, and the pitfalls of being tied to a polarizing president whose job approval

rating has hovered around 40 percent for most of his first year in office.

�Most midterms are about the incumbent in the White House and I think this midterm will

largely about that too,� Thune told reporters this week.

Midterm elections historically benefit the party out of power in the White House. Ratcheting

up the threat level for the Republicans are Trump�s low approval ratings and a generic

ballot � testing which political party voters would prefer control Congress � that heavily

favors the Democrats.

To ensure rank-and-file Republicans treat the risks to their power seriously, and don�t

dismiss the warning signs as �fake news� or Trump bias, GOP leaders are working overtime

to create a sense of urgency among their members and equip them for battle.

In the House, where the 24-seat Republican majority is particularly vulnerable, the National

Republican Congressional Committee, the House GOP campaign arm, is regularly counseling

incumbents in battleground districts.

In the Senate, where Republicans hold a 51-49 majority, GOP leaders are warning against

complacency. Most seats up for election this year are held by Democrats, many situated

in states Trump won. �Don�t fall in love with the map,� Senate Majority Leader Mitch

McConnell, R-Ky., has cautioned. �The map doesn�t win elections.�

Leaving nothing to chance, Republican leaders are planning a major presentation on the 2018

elections during the upcoming joint House-Senate policy retreat in West Virginia to detail

and drive home the political challenges confronting the party.

The Republicans picked up 63 Democrat-held House seats and a half-dozen Senate seats

on Election Day 2010. After suffering minor losses in 2012, when Obama was re-elected,

the GOP rode a second wave of gains in 2014, winning 13 additional House districts and

flipping nine Senate seats.

Combined with the number of Republicans elected to GOP-held seats during that same period,

that makes for a lot of Republicans who have only tasted victory during their tenure in

Congress. Still, Republican insiders are expressing confidence that their message is being heard

and that these incumbents are doing what is necessary to survive in a turbulent atmosphere.

Rep. Ryan Costello, elected in 2014, is one who hasn�t let his guard down.

The Pennsylvania Republican has the benefit of representing a swing suburban district

that forces him to stay aggressive and engaged. He regularly holds town hall meetings and

stays attentive to his constituents� concerns. Costello said that his impression is that

his Republican colleagues are largely cognizant, ready, and doing what�s necessary to win.

�Everybody is aware of what the environment is because they deal with � people every

week protesting outside their office � I know I do,� he said. �There�s a lot

more intensity right now than there ever has been.�
