Waching daily Jan 23 2018

Hey guys! In this video I'm going to build an automatic bartending robot. A BarBot.

Those are good designs, right? But I think there's still some room to make changes.

So let me show you what I have got so far.

So I have been working with the code from a Lithuanian coder.

I hope I got his name right it's from Lukas Šidlauskas.

With his code, it requires more components but I want to keep my project as simple as possible.

So I only use standard 3D printer parts. Let me show you what I've got.

This is the RAMPS board. I use it to control the stepper motor and the servo.

So this is the stepper motor and the servo is here.

But on the top I 3d printed a bracket to test its strength.

And this is the button I am going to use.

This is a SD card holder (reader).

This is the stepper driver and this is a power jack, it delivers 12V to the board.

This is the end stop switch. It tells where the stepper motor stops.

I already uploaded the Arduino sketch to the Mega board. So let's put everything together and see if it works.

Oh right. In order to let you see it's movement I'm going to put some blue tape on it.

Now let's hit the power button and see what's going to happen.

Right now the motor is spinning. It's trying to find home.

Then I click the end stop. That means it thinks it found home, so it stopped.

Here I have the button it reads off the SD card file. There's a JSON file which I am going to show you later.

And it connects the first pin here and the second pin here.

It means no matter what the first one (pin) is screwdriver. So first it is going to pour vodka and then orange juice.

So let me press it now.

The motor is spinning, now is pouring the vodka.

And it is spinning again, this time it is going for the orange juice.

I think I've got all the basic electronics but I won't know until I get the framework set up.

Now let's start to build the framework.

So I'm working with the V-Slot system. I'm using OpenBuilds parts.

These are the standard OpenBuilds parts. Usually they are meant for CNC machines.

I guess a BarBot is no more different than a CNC machine.

So this is the wheel and the screw then put the spacer in.

On each corner.

On this side I am going to put the washer and then the nut to tighten it.

On the other side I'm going to use the eccentric nut.

So I can change the distance between the wheels.

I'm going to try this on the V-Slot aluminum extrusion now.

All the screws I'm using is just M5 screws.

Now this is a little bit loose, so I'm going to use my wrench to tighten it a little bit.

It feels about right. Now I'm going to cut some metal for the rest of the frame.

Sorry guys. No small clothes in this one because some of the metal here is sharp.

Now looks about right. Ok I'm going to grab the dispenser and see where to put it.

In my head it should work like this but I guess it doesn't work.

I am going to think of something else.

I've been playing around with the servo and the frame for the last couple of days.

But I don't think the servo is strong enough and it doesn't fit.

So I am going to switch it to the stepper motor instead.

I've got this kit here, it has all the parts I need. I just need to assemble it for the Z-axis.

I found out that I put the wrong screw in. I'm going to change it to a shorter screw.

So I have to take all the stuff out and put it back together again.

Looks like the leadscrew moves smoothly. Now I'm going to add on the stepper motor.

Alright now I'm going to try to mount it on the frame.

I know what you're thinking you must be like oh Naomi is so smart, so brilliant!

She knows all the engineering stuff- but actually I just copy all of this from the OpenBuilds.

All of these plans are for a CNC router but I just modify it for my BarBot.

So they are very similar but I removes the Y-axis from here.

It is supposed to be a motor here for spinning (milling).

But on my BarBot there's only X-axis and Z-axis to control.

At the end I am going to put all the Bill Of Materials online.

So that you guys can find all the parts and make one for yourself.

So no I am not a genius, I just used other people's code and modify it.

But if you want to give me all the credit, I am ok with that too.

What I have here is the end stop.

It is a standard parts for 3D printers or maybe for a CNC machine.

Really nothing special. It tells the stepper motor where is the end and then it stops.

That's why it's call the end stop.

The only part I did for this is I designed this in TinkerCAD and 3D printed it.

It's a holder for the end stop it has some screw holes inside.

Let me put it here, this camera is clearer.

There's just some screw holes here and I'm going to put it on the top.

Then I guess I could mount it to my BarBot frame later.

You hear that click click sound?

It means it knows where to stop.

And looks like it worked.

I am going to add these cables for the stepper motors and the sensors.

Again they are all just 3D printer parts, so they come like this.

I guess you can make them yourself too. But I am just going to connect them now.

Now I'm going to add the drink dispenser for the frame.

The one I am using for my BarBot is made in China. It's just the cheap one.

Most BarBots use the good ones that are made in UK.

But for my budget I think this is more suitable and I want to see if it will work for my project.

So let's unbox it and put it on.

This is what it looks like. For one set there are three in a row.

This is the tap I think. Is that what it called? For pouring drinks.

First let's screw this down.

I should put it over here.

Looks like is all set. Let's test it out, let's turn on the power.

Looks like it is homing Z and then it is going to the X-axis.

Alright, let's try to pour a drink.

It's not supposed to do that. It is supposed to go to the end and then pour a drink.

It seems something is wrong with the variables.

In Arduino I thought it was all set.

Let me go back and check the configuration file.

So on the left I have the configuration file and on the right I have the Arduino sketch.

Let me see I think the problem is the stepper motor.

Let's try to change the max speed to 1500 and then hit save and see what happens.

And let's upload it.

Alright let's upload it now

Ok let's try one more time I've changed it. I am sure this time I could probably get it right.

Again homing to X-axis.

No, it just not right.

It is not smooth and it is wobbly so probably too fast. I still have to dial it down a little bit.

Ok, I will change it.

I still think the problem is max speed, let's try it one more time.

If this time it doesn't work, then something else must be wrong.

Usually it is this. Now let's save it again.

And plug in the USB.

Let's upload the file.

Alright, on more time.

It is definitely a little bit smoother than last time.

I think it's okay for now. Not sure it's perfect or not but for me it looks fine this time.

But obviously it is not hitting the tab at the right position.

So it's either changing the variable again or I can physically change the end stop.

It is probably the end stop so let's try to change the end stop first.

Let's stop the stepper motor, let's turn it off and let me get my Allen key.

Ok now let's see if I adjust it to the right position.

A little bit better but still wrong.

A little bit better.

What I have here is just water. I am going to use it to test the height for the rings.

I'm going to put it on this one because it is right above the bucket.

Let me take this off first.

It's not touching the tap at all, so let's make it a litlle bit higher.

Let's stop that.

Now let's try it again.

Needs to go a bit higher, if just touching a little bit, it won't be strong enough.

Looks like that's it. This is good. Now let's try some real alcohol.

So the first drink we're testing is a Screwdriver. I've got vodka and orange juice here.

Let me put the vodka down and put the orange juice in first and I've got a cup.

Okay I'm going to open the vodka on camera so that you know is real.

This is not water.

And we're going to put it on the first tap.

Looks like a lot of alcohol.

Give me that robot! Let's give it a taste

It's not as good as I imagined.

I thought it would turn out great. Maybe the orange juice is wrong, it just doesn't taste right.

So I am going to work on my recipes. See you in part two!

Temps to dip even further on Wednesday _ 012318 - Duration: 1:52.

Now we turn to our Michelle Park at the weather center for the latest updates.

We've got a sharp, stinging wind blowing,... and tomorrow, it's expected to get even colder.

Daniel, if you have your hands out it will hurt,... that's how cold it is.

The windchill is nearly minus 20 degrees right now, and by tomorrow the temperature is expected

to fall even further intensifying the cold wave alerts, so make sure to dress warmer

than today.

A heavy snow advisory is expected to be issued on the west coast tonight, bringing up to

7 centimeters, but the interior regions will see less.

Tomorrow morning will be 2 to 3 degrees colder than today,...

Seoul dipping down to minus 17 degrees Celsius,... Daegu and Busan at minus 12 and minus 10 degrees.

Into the afternoon, Seoul won't rise very high -- only to minus 10 -- while Gwangju

and Busan are looking a little better at minus 4 and minus 2.

Find a way to stay warm this whole week, because the cold wave will stay with us for a while.

By Sunday, we can finally get a little more comfortable.

I'll leave you with the weather conditions around the world.

Alaska quake prompts tsunami warning on west coast of N. America - Duration: 1:11.

A tsunami warning has been issued across the west coast of the United States, Canada and

Hawaii after a 7-point-9 magnitude quake hit the southern coast of Alaska.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck early Tuesday, local time, around

300 kilometers southeast of Alaska's Kodiak Island.

Residents of the island were urged to stay away from the coast to avoid damage from possible

aftershocks.

The NWS Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said "widespread hazardout tsunami waves" were

possible.

Meanwhile, volcanic activity in the Philippines prompted nearly 56-thousand people to evacuate

from the province of Albay... in the southeast of the country's biggest island of Luzon.

Officials say Mount Mayon has been spewing ash more than 3 kilometers into the air...

along with fountains of lava 700 meters high.

The alert level there was raised to four on a scale of five.

Damage from a volcanic eruption was reported Tuesday in Japan as well... at Mount ( )Kusatsu-Shirane...

in Gunma prefecture.

The eruption sparked a huge avalanche that left at least one person dead and more than

15 injured.

Seoul's trade minister to file WTO petition over U.S. safeguard measures - Duration: 1:55.

Following that announcement, South Korea's trade ministry vowed to file a petition to

the World Trade Organization over Washington's safeguard measures.

Kim Mok-yeon gets us up to speed with the developments.

Korea's trade ministry announced that it will work to defend Korea's interests by claiming

its rights guaranteed under the World Trade Organization agreement.

In a meeting with industry officials on Tuesday, Trade Minister Kim Hyun-chong said that the

ministry plans to file a petition with the WTO against Washington's latest so-called

safeguard, which he called "excessive" and a "violation" of WTO provisions.

Kim said the safeguard appears to consider only Washington's own political situation

and not international regulations.

The minister expressed confidence that Korea can win the case, pointing to past cases it

won against the U.S. regarding steel safeguards in 2002, and anti-dumping duties on washing

machines in 2013 and 2014 He said the ministry plans to proceed with

the petition by forming a united front with other countries affected by Washington's protectionist

trade practices.

But an expert on trade says things might not be that simple.

(KOREAN) " The U.S. has lost a case on safeguards before,

so I hear they have prepared a thorough defense.

So even if we file the petition, we cannot be 100% sure of winning."

There are also concerns that the safeguards won't stop with washing machines and solar

cells and modules.

(ENGLISH) "I think the impact could spread over to other

sectors -- likewise the topics that are under FTA negotiations again such as automobiles

and intellectual property.

We have to pay extreme attention to what sector their real intentions are in."

Experts say that in addition to the government's petition, it's also important to bring the

issue up in negotiations and create an opportunity to communicate with U.S. authorities.

Kim Mok-yeon, Arirang News.

WHY ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING | Les Brown, Jim Rohn | Motivational Video 2018 - Duration: 30:32.

here's something else it's possible you

can live your dream if I can see it I

believe it no no no if you believe it

you can see it

[Music]

you might never fail on the scale I did

but some failure in life is inevitable

it is impossible to live without failing

at something unless you live so

cautiously where you might as well not

have lived at all in which case you fail

by default

you've got to be willing to go into

action

don't wait around for things to be just

right don't wait for things to be

perfect don't wait for the ideal

situation it will never be ideal

if they could resist no no it's simple

but it's not easy

[Music]

it's possible you can live your dream

it's necessary that you have goals that

you write them down that you surround

yourself with a support team that you

are creative it's you that you must take

their personal responsibility to make it

happen George Bernard Shaw said the

people that make it in this world look

around for the circumstances and they

want and if they can't find them they

create them it's hard no easy is not an

option

however ladies and gentlemen what you

will discover is that it's worth it it's

worth

[Music]

you must work on yourself continuously

never be satisfied with yourself always

know that as you invest the effort and

time on you that's the greatest ability

that human beings now above animals said

dog can't be anything but a dog tree

can't be anything but a tree human being

you've got unlimited potential

you can put effort on you and by

concentrating on you and developing you

you can transform your life wherever you

are right now but you got to put a new

mind in you you got to get out of your

mind you got to begin to restructure

your thinking every day you've got to

begin to recondition your mind see many

of us go through life making choices

thinking it's our choices and it's not

you got to die as you are now

you got to be willing to give up who you

are now for what you can't become

certain things will no longer fit into

your life

and so therefore as you look at yourself

you've got to have this vision of

yourself beyond your circumstances

you want to live life with energy and

passion you're gonna get some ideas

you're gonna feel your trip up north and

you're gonna think about something some

idea you had you said I want to go back

and I'm gonna look at that again

kind of creative ideas

so every day you have to sell yourself

and get out of your mind those old

thoughts that old belief system every

day you've got to sell yourself on that

it's possible but you have the feature

to never get that you become a green

keep coming back again and again and

again and then accuse that you got to

take personal responsibility to make it

it's not over until I win no matter how

bad it is I'll bet it gets

I'm going to make it

say that to yourself everyday

the diseases of attitude it's never that

pleasant to talk about the negative but

we got to talk about it because life is

part negative these attitude diseases

are like weeds that grow in the garden

it's a normal part of life here's a good

phrase to note negative is normal it's

not successful but it's normal it's part

of life

and here's the next key in my opinion

you must learn to handle the negative

don't ignore it handle it now I know

some people teach the other way and

listen to them and listen to me and then

make up your own mind right don't be a

follower be a student but I say you got

to handle the negative you don't have to

live in it you don't have to dwell on it

but you do have to handle it my opinion

I know some people teach just turn your

head real quick and say there's no way

just no wait there's no weeds they'll

take your garden so you've got to handle

the negative here's what part of it is

it's called the great war between good

and evil mr. Reynolds and I are working

on a new book this year called the great

war between good and evil and there is a

war on the minute you were born you got

involved in the war between good and

evil between darkness and light between

negative and positive between evil and

good between tyranny and democracy

between weeds and human activity I mean

the war is on if democracy sleeps guess

who never sleeps tyranny in the absence

of light yes what's automatic darkness

if good does not arouse itself and

become active guess what moves in evil

it's a war a mental war a physical war a

financial war between enterprise and

ease between accomplishment and failure

it's a war that's why there's an Old

Testament phrase that gives the best

advice for human activity when it says

six days labor one day

now I'm sure we've taken that to mean

don't work all seven days take one off

here's what it also means only take one

Oh or you're liable to lose the war now

we've got it down to five and two and

maybe that's not too dangerous I don't

know if God would have thought of five

him - he might have made it five in - I

don't know you can't think of everything

but here's what it does mean enterprise

is better than ease if you rest too long

the jungle overtakes the village now

here's the good news about the war

between good and evil evil is no match

for good but good must be active weeds

are no match for human activity but if

you stand still how far in will they

come all the way they'll grow right up

around your shoes but if you get busy

how far back can you take them

as far as you wish they're no match but

you must be active that's why the six

and one make sure you're not losing the

war by taking off to guess what the

average years are after retirement six

six

which means don't retire your chances

are too

okay the war between good and evil the

weeds you got to make sure you recognize

the negative handle it deal with it and

then go on let's make a list of the

diseases of attitude that can wreck all

your chances to do well one of the words

that destroys everything is called

neglect neglect

and I found this out a week of neglect

could cost you a year of repair it isn't

worth it so what to be on the lookout

for here's the list if you were making

it you'd have the same list I've got

right we're not covering anything new

tonight this is a reminding session not

a teaching session but it doesn't hurt

to go over it again here's the list

attitude diseases number one is

indifference the shrug of the shoulders

the guy's not even concerned he's just

drifting this is called the mild

approach to life a disease known as

mildness the guy says well I can't see

getting all that worked up well to be

any kind of winner you've got to get

worked up there's one problem with drift

you cannot drift to the top of the

mountain and the good Lord said in the

closing chapters of the Bible here's the

best way to live one way or the other

that's best hot or what's next best cold

is next best the heart not the

half-baked middle lukewarm not too hot

not too cold what a sad way to live I

think what it means is pick a direction

and go with everything you've got just

pick one and go somebody says yeah but

what if it's the wrong direction you'll

find out quicker

it won't take you 25 years to wake up

and say oh no I've been walking the

wrong road I told my staff the other day

next best of prosperity is adversity if

one doesn't get you pray for the other

we all do better from one of two reasons

inspiration or desperation and I don't

wish anything bad on you tonight but if

you're not inspired I hope a wagon comes

down your rut

whatever it takes to get you to try

harder

read more set your goals and go for it

[Music]

somebody asked me one time what quality

would I pick if I wanted to work with

somebody and you know what I picked

first number one strong feeling please

number one give me somebody that feels

strong about most anything I don't even

care just so they believe it even if

they disagree with me

wonderful just so they disagree

vigorously I'm not saying it's easy to

win those kind of people to your point

of view but I'd rather do that than to

try to resurrect people from the dead

pump them up every month pump Amara pump

them up I pass

the good Lord needs a leader for the

early Christians remember the early days

of the Christians not like today if you

were to stand up in the early days and

say I'm a Christian cut off your head

toss you and your wife in jail let you

rot I mean those were ugly days being a

Christian back then was not called

socially acceptable they didn't have a

hundred and twenty five thousand in the

Los Angeles Coliseum to hear Billy

Graham on a Sunday afternoon not back in

those days back in those days when the

Christians got in the Coliseum there was

a different story

I mean the word was stay out of the

Coliseum especially on Sunday last

Sunday was Lions 33 Christians nothing

see those were mean tough struggle days

for the Christians now when the days are

mean and tough and struggling you got to

have some kind of leader do you know who

the good Lord picked for the leader when

the days were mean and ugly Saul from

Tarsus that's who he picked Saul I'll

tell you what I would have picked him

you would have picked him anybody would

have picked Saul Saul was one of those

incredible guys once he got into

something look out everybody in the

community knew what Saul was in because

whatever he joined you flipped all the

switches open up all the dials turn on

all the faucets and go like mad he was

known as all-out Saul I mean he was

something else now at first it wasn't

working out well Saul hated Christians

which makes a poor leader right I mean

that won't work

Saul got this bug somewhere about the

Christians he got to hate in Christians

and he hated him so bad every time

somebody would say Christian he'd fly

into a rage and I guess he decided one

life who are one day it was his mission

in life to get rid of all the Christians

he was Saul anyhow could do most

anything he wanted to so he got in these

letters of authority to go around to the

various communities and hunt down the

Christians they said do whatever you

want to with them Saul there unpopular

drag him in the streets whippin Stoneham

torture kill him you mentioned the name

Saul from Tarsus to the early Christians

I'll tell you what they would do they

would burn hide lock the doors leave

town dive underground I've been in the

catacombs of Rome where they hid he was

me I mean terribly mean but remember the

story one day Saul's making the fir

Damascus heard about some new Christians

flies into a rage takes off for Damascus

and the story said he was angry there's

a little sentence in the story that says

on his way to Damascus he was breathing

out threatenings and slaughter which

meant he felt rather strong about the

idea right that's strong that's strong

but on this journey right according to

the story as Saul was making his way to

Damascus the good Lord looks down out of

heaven and says there's my man Saul he's

got to be something else and according

to the story this great light shines out

of heaven Knox seemed flat right off his

horse grinds his face in the dirt and

blinds him for three days

the good Lord using recruiting tools we

can't use this when your lord right

to make a long story short solved from

Tarsus becomes converted to Christianity

he becomes Paul the great leader the

Apostle and without a doubt the good

Lord got him a dandy one he didn't have

to pump up every morning in one of his

later writings he said the things I once

hated I now love the things I once loved

I now hate see that strong here's the

key to the good life learn to put

everything you've got into everything

you do whatever you are doing pull it on

it will quickly open up into opportunity

or quickly that's disclosed to you that

you ought to be doing something else the

delusion is if I had a better job I'd

really pour it on see that's a delusion

wherever you are pour it on don't give

somebody half a job for a day's pay

pour it on see that'll help change your

life get rid of this disease here's the

next attitude disease indecision mental

paralysis the guy can't make up his mind

and it becomes a disease pretty soon he

knows he's got it the guy says well I

know I'm on the fence but he says what

if I get off on the wrong side listen

after a while it doesn't matter just get

Oh any side will do a life full of

adventure is a life full of many

decisions the ones that turn out to be

wrong give you better experience to make

better decisions so don't see how many

decisions you can get out of see how

many you can get into that's where the

adventure is so shake off this disease

indecision the next one is doubt doubts

like a plague and one of the worst is

self-doubt there are many but that's one

of the words the guide doubts himself

doubts if it'll last that long for him

doubts if he can do that well doubts if

he can make that much doubts if he can

accomplish all that a chronic excellent

self doubter you can imagine what damage

that does to your future so here's the

key turn this coin over and become a

believer and there's many things to

believe in one of the majors is yourself

the understanding of self-worth is the

beginning of progress now those three

don't get you this one will worry

that's a devastating disease worry worry

causes health problems social problems

personal problems family problems it's

devastating worry long enough it'll drop

you to your knees could reduce it to

begging I know how bad this one is I

used to have it bad I used to be known

as a super warrior not a super warrior

no super warrior my family wished I'd

have been a warrior I got those years to

make up for but I'll tell you what my

advice to you is do what I finally did

on worry

give it up who needs it

I'm not saying it's easy I'm saying it's

worth it took me almost one year to kick

the worried habit and it was not an easy

year it was one of the toughest years I

ever spent but I finally got that monkey

off my back

and I discovered you could live the most

incredible life free of work not free of

challenge not free of difficulty free of

worry I learned how to do it and you can

here's the next attitude disease over

caution

some people never will have much they're

too cautious now you can also be too

reckless but you can also be too

cautious this is called the timid

approach to life and my caution was

always the risk risk used to drive me

right up the wall

I used to say what if this happens it's

called the language of the poor what if

this happens and on top of that if this

was to happen look at the fix I be and I

better not try

I could always ace my self out then I'll

tell you what changed my whole life when

I finally discovered it's all risky the

minute you were born it got risky if you

think trying is risky wait till they

hand you the bill for not trying if you

think investing is risky wait till you

get the tab for not investing see it's

all risky get married is risky having

children is risky going into business is

risky investing your money is risky it's

all risky

I'll tell you how risky life is you're

not gonna get out alive

that's risky the Englishman says well if

that's the way it's gonna work out let's

give it a go right that's what it's for

give it a go somebody says yeah but I'm

looking for safety and security

fine then huddle in a corner who will

cover you with a sheet bring you three

meals a day and we'll protect you

feed you look after you care for you

we won't let anything happen to you and

you'll probably live to be 100 the guy

said well yeah I'd live to be 100

but what a way to live right what a way

to live safe and secure don't ask for

security ask for adventure better to

live 30 years full of adventure than 100

years safe in the cornered and sea it's

not important how long you live what's

important is how you

[Music]

here's the next attitude disease we're

almost through with this monthly list in

fact we're almost through hang on the

next one is pessimism

pessimism the deadly disease of always

looking on the bad side the problem side

the difficult side checking all the

reason so I can't be done the poor

pessimist leads an ugly life he doesn't

try to figure out what's right he tries

to figure out what's wrong he doesn't

look for virtue he looks for faults and

when he finds him he's delighted how

this is the poor guy looks through the

window doesn't see the sunset he sees

the specks on the wind

[Music]

and this is the poor guy right who

rushes up take such leave of his senses

this guy rushes up and he says I've got

5 good reasons why it won't work he's so

dumb he doesn't know all he needs one

he's got 5 - the pessimist the glass is

always half-empty - the optimist the

glasses half-full

why would the same measure affect people

to different ways answer it all depends

on how you look at it

our lives are mostly affected by the way

we think things are not the way they are

the way we think they are affects us

most there's a subject we don't have

time to get into tonight called better

thinking habits one of the major things

shall taught me when I met him he said

poor thinking habits keeps most people

poor not poor working habits most people

work hard but they don't think hard and

show taught me that the mind is like a

factory a mental Factory and whatever

you think about all day long pours

ingredients into this mental Factory and

that's what builds the economic social

financial fabric of your life he quoted

me a Bible phrase that says as you think

so you'd become how awesome

when he talked about poor thinking

habits he had me I used to start the day

reading the morning newspaper I mean you

can leave that or not I'd get a cup of

coffee and read the paper I'd load up on

Wars and riots and murders and stabbings

and killings and bank robberies and

muggings and car wrecks and tragedies

I'd even read the back pages I seem to

like that stuff for some weird reason

I'd load up on all that and then I start

the day you can imagine the kind of days

I used to have you walk around on your

financial knees they call you economic

peewee the guy says I want to be a great

leader wonderful the first thing we do

is following to his house when we get

there we walk in and check his library

number one somebody says well why check

his library the reason is because what a

man reads pours massive ingredients into

his mental factory and the fabric of his

life is built from those ingredients you

would not believe what some people have

got in their house to read you would not

believe one of the best-dressed reports

I know for a lot of it is trash can you

imagine dumping a bale of trash into

this mental factory every day and coming

out with a rich dynamic positive life it

can't be done you might as well try

making a cake with cement

the kids back in Danbury Connecticut

high school they're asking me questions

one day I'm talking to the kids kids got

good questions these days one of them

said to me mr. Owen how do you build the

good life I said it's simple it's not

easy but it's simple here's how you

build anything select the right

ingredients keep out the wrong

ingredients and it starts with thought

everything starts with thought so you

must be wise and careful what you think

about because that starts everything you

gotta be wise and careful I asked the

kids what would happen if somebody

dropped sugar in my coffee they said

well you'd be okay I said what if

somebody dropped strychnine in my coffee

they said well you'd be dead

I said correct lesson 1 life is both

sugar and strychnine you gotta be

careful I said what if my worst enemy

drops in the sugar they said will you be

okay I said what if my best friend even

by accident drops in the strychnine they

said well you'd be dead I said correct

lesson to watch your car

you got to be careful see it doesn't

matter who hands you the bad stuff it

doesn't matter who you get the bad stuff

it'll still do its damage on your bank

account wherever you get it

mr. shelf gave me one of the greatest

phrases when I first met him when he

said gym every day stand guard at the

door of your mind how important stand

guard at the door of your mind and you

decide what goes into your mental

factory don't let anybody just dump

anything they want to in your mental

factory because you've got to live with

the results okay here's the last disease

and we're through with this list

in fact we're almost through hang on the

last subject is very brief the last

disease but this one is deadly engage in

this one indulge in it even slightly and

you might as well forget the future

because it's gonna forget you

complaining

crying crying griping a Bible word

called murmuring see that will ace your

future spend five minutes complaining

and you have wasted five and you may

have begun what's known as economic

cancer of the bone surely they will soon

haul you off into a financial desert and

there let you choke on the dust of your

own regret I hope I said that well so

you won't forget it's a deadly disease

if you don't think it's bad ask the

children of Israel of Old Testament fame

typical of us all their story just

happened to get in the book story says

children of Israel were slaves God

performed a series of dazzling miracles

and got him out and now they're heading

for the promised land

remember the story heading for the

Promised Land tragedy of the story they

never got their reason from day one they

started to complain they griped about

the water they griped about the weather

they whined and cried and griped about

the food they griped about the

leadership they've whined and cried

because it was too far too cold too hot

too difficult too miserable I mean they

widened wined and cried for years

finally God said I've had it canceled or

something like that the story says they

died in the desert never got to the

promised land which I think means two

things

indulge in this long enough you get your

future canceled and I guess it also

means even God Himself can only take so

much

Pres. Moon invites representatives of Democratic Party for lunch as encouragement - Duration: 2:12.

President Moon Jae-in invited the leadership of the ruling Democratic Party to the top

office this afternoon to provide encourage ahead of the upcoming parliamentary session

in February.

Hwang Hojun has the highlights from that luncheon.

President Moon called for the Blue House, the government, and the ruling party to come

together as a harmonious whole ahead of major events that Korea will be facing as a nation.

(KOREAN) "President Moon said there is a need to get

beind the ruling party ahead of big tasks such as the PyeongChang Olympics, February's

parliamentary session, and the constitutional revision.

He asked us to respect public sentiment and cooperate in light of these historic tasks."

The President's comments came during a luncheon hosted by the Blue House and attended by 17

representatives of the ruling Democratic Party, including its floor leader Woo Won-shik.

President Moon said he acknowledges the hard work of the ruling party's leadership in running

the National Assembly, especially when the opposition parties are in the majority and

have very different policies.

The Democratic Party's floor leader, Woo Won-shik, in return, said he was glad the party was

able to help the administration by working with the opposition to get some of its key

agendas through, such as officials' confirmation hearings, government restructuring and passing

key spending bills like the budget for this year.

By doing so, he said they were following the voice of the people, who put the President

in office.

The party's floor leader also pledged to press on "speedily" in Parliament next month to

pass pending bills to improve people's livelihoods.

He also suggested the President arrange a meeting with the floor leaders of the political

parties and Presidential Office officials.

That, he said, would hopefully promote cooperation ahead of the parliamentary session, especially

necessary considering the change in command in the main opposition Liberty Korea Party

and the minor opposition Bareun Party.

President Moon instructed his secretaries to look into arranging that.

The biggest agenda for the upcoming parliamentary session is expected to be the revising of

the 30-year-old constitution.

The ruling party hopes to reach a cross-party agreement on a final version in February and

hold a public referendum during the local elections in June.

Favorite Books Of 2017! - Duration: 8:23.

Hi my name is Franzi and I'm addicted to books

Hi I'm Franzi and I decided to finally start uploading videos about books

After years of wanting to do that

On my main channel I kind of did talk about one book

In the very beginning of my channel but I didn't even finish the book so

These videos are privated and never to be seen ever again

But now after a year of actually reading books again I decided that I wanted to start this

So in my first video I decided that I wanted to talk about my favorite books I read in 2017

And there have been quite a few that I will reread and quote and reread again

Because they're just so good I love them so much

The order of this list won't say anything about whether I like to book more than the other or not

Because I can't pick favorites among my children

But without further ado let's get to my list

So the first book on this list was actually a book I had to read for university

But I loved it so so so much

And I was pretty sure that I already read it in high school

But when I read it again I realized that I didn't remember anything

Like none of the details

And maybe you'll think you know the story but you should definitely read the book it's so good

It's Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and [sigh] I just love it

I really want to read the first version of this book

But this is like the normal popular I think 1831 version of the book and I already loved it

It wasn't a quick read and it wasn't an easy read for me personally

Mainly because of the descriptions of like scenery and nature

And I also had a lot of thoughts on this book so I took a lot of notes in my reading journal, yeah

I just loved it and it's one of my all-time favorites now

I got this next book for free at Summer in the City and it's called Nina Is Not OK by Shappi Khorsandi

The protagonist in this book deals with addiction and sexual assault and also her sexuality

The character is really witty and it's just fun to read

Until you get to the really hard parts where I just wanna cry all the time

I would recommend it but like content warning sexual assault

If it's a trigger for you you should be kinda careful when reading this

The third book on my list is of course The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

2017 was the perfect year to read this book

If you want an existential crisis

This book had been on my reading list for a while now but when I saw that they released a TV show

I really wanted to read it ASAP so I did

But then the TV show wasn't available on any streaming services I pay for so I haven't seen it yet

If you don't know this book it's a dystopian novel about a society where women actually don't have any rights anymore

And are just there to make babies

If you're a person who cares about agency over their own body this is an actual nightmare

This is especially scary if you look at the government the current government in America

Where a bunch of old white dudes decide over what women are allowed to do with their bodies

I just loved the whole concept of it and the way the story was built the narrator and the characters

There were a lot of characters you would recognize in your own life

Some of them are really stereotypical but not in a like negative way it's like in a comprehensive way in

In a relatable way

There's a switch in the narration style in the ending and the stuff you learn in there just makes all of it even worse

I won't spoil it but it's so bad it's so sad

The worst scenes in this were the ceremony scenes and if you have read this book you know what I mean, so bad

The fourth book on my list is Hunger by Roxane Gay

The topics in this I can't relate to most of them but they're so interesting

And I love reading books that open up your own mind to concepts and perspectives that you just don't have

It was really eye-opening and made me think about some of my own behaviors and things I've said

In this memoir Roxane Gay describes what it's like to live as a survivor of sexual assault

And also as a queer black obese woman in America

There's one chapter where there's a really graphic description of sexual assault so again

If you're triggered by it please be careful

I read most of this book on the train on my commute I think to the theater

I'm neither gonna deny or confirm that I cried on the train in public while reading this

But it can be very emotional

Sometimes the writing style seems a little bit detached from what's happening

But I kind of feel like it was necessary to write about these topics that are discussed in here

I just feel like a lot of people should read this

And then reexamine the way they think about certain body types

That are not skinny and trained and fit and you never know what happened to a person or what's happening to a person or

Why a person looks or acts the way they do and

Just be a little bit more compassionate

The last book on my list and the last book I read in 2017 is Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

Before I read this I already loved Trevor Noah on the Daily Show but after reading this

I mostly picked this up because it is a description of his childhood as a mixed child during apartheid

Where when he was born it was illegal for a white man and a black woman or black man and a white woman

To have children or any sexual contact

What

This was a really interesting perspective as I'm mixed too but I live in Germany and I wasn't born

During a time where it was illegal to have me

And I also loved reading a book by a mixed person because we don't actually really have a community

And in this book he also describes being an outsider and I could relate to that

I couldn't relate to a lot of things he described in this book and the things he went through in his childhood

Just because of the circumstances he was born into

The writing style is just as funny as he is but it's also really emotional and

That's probably because comedy and tragedy are really close together

And the way he described some of the more emotional parts just made me wanna cry all day long

Before every chapter there's kinda an introduction to the historical events he refers to in the chapters

And that are important to understand the circumstances

And that was really interesting because I didn't really know a lot about apartheid and the politics of it

I knew that it was there I knew that it was racist and that was it

This is one of those books I just wanna pick up and read again and then just read sections of it and quote it

And whatever recommended to all of my friends

I probably already did

Like I meet people in university in my lectures and I'm like

Have you read bore a crime by Trevor Noah

And they're like

Who are you don't talk to me

I love this so much

And that's it for my favorite books I read in 2017

In the comments below tell me what your favorite books of 2017 were

And also tell me if you have read any of the books I mentioned in this video and what you thought

Did you like them or did you hate them?

All of the links to my social media and my other channels are in the description box below and

And subscribe to this channel if you wanna see more videos like this

I hope you're having a wonderful day and I'll see you next time bye bye

Real-name transactions of cryptocurrency trading in S. Korea to start on January 30th - Duration: 2:12.

Turning now to ongoing government efforts to regulate the local virtual currency market.

In a week's time, new accounts can only be created using real names.

Traders can no longer make transactions anonymously.

Our Lee Jeong-yeon turned to an expert for his take on the potential impact of this system.

After the explosive growth in the number of cryptocurrency traders in South Korea, the

government announced back in December... that it would ban the creation of new anonymous

accounts in an effort to curb the trading frenzy.

On Tuesday, it announced that virtual currency traders can create new accounts under their

real names starting January 30th.

Prior to these measures, currency exchanges issued encrypted virtual accounts to investors

for trading.

But the new measures will allow only real-name bank accounts with matching accounts at virtual

currency exchanges for transactions.

What this means is that now, transactions are no longer anonymous.

This could help prevent illegal activities such as money laundering or tax evasion.

Also, with the banks requiring personal information, foreigners not residing in Korea and minors

could be prevented from setting up accounts.

Experts say the new measures may not bring significant changes, at least in the short-term.

(eng) "I don't think there's going to be a noticeable

difference, but it's going to be very difficult to see anyway.

Because cryptocurrency right now is such a volatile investment, you'll continually see

very large fluctuations in prices."

He adds however, that the real-name system is a good stepping stone for other changes

that could eventually reduce market volatility.

(eng) "The real-name system is I think a first step

to imposing taxes.

I think it's probably useful to have taxes on cryptocurrency investments because right

now at least in Korea, taxes are not being imposed on these cryptocurrency transactions,

and because of that, I think it makes cryptocurrency investments more popular than it should be."

Were this to happen, it would mean virtual currency trading would become similar to trading

of commodities such as stocks and bonds.
