Welcome to Ranger Reviews, a webseries where we look at episodes of the tv show, Power

Rangers and then discuss it!

Today, we're exploring the eighty eighth episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as

well as the twenty eighth episode of Season 2, titled "The Power Transfer Part 2".

We begin this episode back with Rocky, Adam, and Aisha who are all tied up in the park.

The wind has changed, and the sleep gas is coming their way.

Luckily, there's a random soccer ball there that Adam gets.

He then tells Rocky to go behind the tree before yelling "Go, Rocky!

Run away!", faking out the putties until he kicks the soccer ball into one of their

Z chests, dropping the keys and releasing them again.

The three then fight the putties like they're pretty much already the new Rangers.

Then, they use the soccer ball to hit the sleep machine, knocking it out of the air,

and it dissolves.

Meanwhile, Serpentera is still decimating an entire planet while the Rangers are focusing

on getting a sword loose.

Billy takes out the ring that they got from Zordon, puts it on the statue's finger,

and it releases the sword, grabbing it.

Zedd presses down a button dramatically to kill the Power Rangers, completely destroying

the entire planet again, and Jason yells "Alpha, teleport us now!" before we see the statue's

head in fire.

Alpha is in the Command Center, pressing random buttons, and the Rangers are coming in pairs

before Billy comes in, taking off his helmet, and he presses buttons too, getting Tommy.

Zordon says "glad you guys didn't die", and he says it's time to prepare because

Zedd is going to destroy Earth with Serpentera.

Then, Trini says they can't leave yet, but Zordon says "eh, it's fine", and he

beholds the new Rangers: Adam, Rocky, and Aisha.

Tommy holds the Sword of Light above his head, and he transfers the power from Jason to Rocky,

from Zack to Adam, and from Trini to Aisha.

Zordon thanks the departing Rangers for their courage, and it's weird because there's

just two sets of these Rangers.

They then leave as Zordon tells the newbies about their Zords and stuff before they take

off their helmets.

They they all do this weird secret handshake?

Serpentera is coming toward Earth, and Goldar says they're not going too fast because

Serpentera lost a lot of its energy on the Deserted Planet.

Zedd says "screw it", and he creates a giant tick monster called Silverhorns.

The alarms go off in the Command Center, and the six Rangers move out.

They fight Silverhorns, and I have to say, it's nice to hear the actual actors doing

ADR for the suits again.

Been a hot minute since we had that!

Silverhorns calls out the putties, and they attack the Rangers to the tune of Ron Wasserman's

Combat.

Zedd sees that they're at full strength, pissed that they have new Rangers, and he's

mad at Goldar for them being successful, so he tosses down a growing bomb, making Silverhorns

giant.

Zordon tells Tommy to call out Tor, and Rocky says he's going to take on the monster on

his own because clearly, he has the tiniest dick and the most to prove.

He calls out the Red Dragon Thunderzord in Warrior Mode, and he fights Silverhorns.

Then, the sky randomly goes dark, which is confusing and has no affect on anything besides

the Zord just now fighting the monster with a filter over the footage.

The five other Rangers see Serpentera getting ready to land from the ground, and the giant

dragon looms from above, landing and standing giant.

Tommy calls out the White Tiger Thunderzord, converting it into Warrior Mode immediately

to help Rocky.

Zedd yells at Goldar to destroy Angel Grove, but then, Serpentera goes dark, and Goldar

says they're out of power completely, so now they're just… standing there.

The White Tigerzord in Warrior Mode shows up, and it and the Red Dragon Thunderzord

fight Silverhorns, getting their asses kicked pretty easily.

Then, Tommy finally calls out Tor despite Zordon saying to do that forever ago.

Whatever, the others call out all of their own Thunderzords, forming the chariot and

combining with Tor while the White Tigerzord goes inside of him.

They go up in the air and drop down, squashing Silverhorns.

Take that, Lyme Disease.

Then, Zedd says "do we have power yet, Thomas Edison?!" to Goldar which is one of the

best lines ever.

They then get a little bit of power and bail, and Zedd promises to kill everyone some other

time or whatever before Serpentera takes off from the ground, disappearing over the city

toward the moon.

In the Command Center, on the viewing globe, everyone is watching Jason, Zack, and Trini

get to the airport in a taxi, and Kim waves.

Aisha is also stoked to save the world from Zedd, and Zordon says "congrats on being

a new team".

They put their hands in the center a la Day of the Dumpster and freeze frame into a new

era.

This episode isn't the worst thing to ever happen, but man, is it weird or what?

Jason, Zack, and Trini are just… gone now.

People who have been there since the very first episode are gone, some to never be seen

again in Power Rangers history to date.

It was extremely traumatic for me as a child to watch this episode and see this happen,

because I didn't like Adam, Aisha, and Rocky at all.

Now, as an adult, throughout Mighty Morphin, they're pretty much cardboard cutouts until

those who stick around until Season 4 of the franchise get some sort of characterization.

So, why did Jason, Zack, and Trini even leave in the first place?

Well, I wish I could say that it was a mutual decision between the actors and the production

team, but nope.

Turns out, the principal actors of the show felt like they were being taken advantage

of financially, which to be honest, they were.

The show made billions of dollars in its first year, and the actors were paid the same as

someone who worked at McDonald's while being exempt from overtime, working 6 days a week

for 12 hours a day with the sixth day usual being in a studio to record their voices over

the suited footage.

In addition to this, none of them were "union", which means they didn't have the ability

to get any sort of health insurance for themselves nor did they have a minimum wage or even true

worker's compensation laws because if they got hurt, they would be stuck with the bill.

The three actors, Austin St. John, Walter Jones, and Thuy Trang, decided that after

the massive hit, they wanted to negotiate something a little bit more fair for themselves,

basically just wanting basic job requirements and a liveable wage.

Oh, and did I mention to this day, they still don't get royalties for their work or their

likeness being used for toy molds?

Man.

So, the three attempted to converse about it with someone in the production, and they

were immediately fired, told to not return to set.

Evidently, in hindsight, the actress who plays Kimberly, Amy Jo Johnson, has said that she

didn't really understand what they were fighting for at the time because she didn't

know how bad it was, but if she had, she would've joined them in their demand for fair pay and

whatnot.

It does make you wonder how the show would've played out had all six stood together and

decided to have a conversation with production at the time, but sadly, we'll never know.

Sorry, did I hurt your childhood there a bit?

It's a crappy part of the show's history, and honestly, it's far from the worst part

of it, but we'll get there when we do.

Ads were then placed for three new ranger actors, and Steve Cardenas, Johnny Young Bosch,

and Karan Ashley were cast in the new roles, and they were then integrated into the show

as slowly as possible despite the other three being gone.

In fact, they've been gone since Episode 20 of Season 2.

For reference, that was 8 episodes ago.

They were terrified that this change would lose a ton of viewers, especially while Power

Rangers was in the absolute peak of its glory days, having already inked a deal for a full

length feature film to be filmed in Australia later that year.

All I can say is that all of this knowledge makes me welcome the three new actors a little

more because I can't imagine the feeling on set the first day when you find out that

the person you're replacing got fired.

Must've been… awkward to say the least.

So, how will the next episode be?

Will we see the three fill in the vacant roles?

Mavic Air vs Mavic Pro – Which Is Better? - Duration: 5:16.

The Mavic Air from DJI has just been announced and the question in everyone's mind––at

least in my mind is…what the hell am I going to do with this?!

I just bought this.

It's–– it's great!

I still love you precious one.

It's not your fault.

Shh… it's going to be okay.

It's going to be okay.

As you can see it suffered some damage since the last time you saw it.

Might've cashed it.

Don't need to get into that.

Image quality.

Portability.

Price.

These for me are the three pillars I must balance to decide which drone is the best

for me.

What's best for me might not necessarily be what's best for you.

However!

The value present in a drone like the DJI Mavic Pro and now the DJI Mavic Air is incontrovertible.

Check out my full review of the DJI Mavic Pro for all the details but something you

will hear me talk about over and over when discussing the Mavic Pro is its size.

It's a hard thing to get over.

Forget about not having to spend $100,000 to rent a helicopter with a camera mounted no it.

We don't need to get into it again in this video.

The Mavic Pro is small.

Small.

And in a way, because of its foldable legs, it's kind of more portable than the Spark

itself.

The smallest of the DJI drones.

Well, the Mavic Air is even smaller than the Pro and also has foldable legs.

A drone that can truly fit in the palm of your hand.

I mean I know this can kind of...

Like...

I have big hands.

What can I say?

And perhaps more importantly, because of its foldable legs, it can fit neatly in any bag.

The drone itself comes in a case very reminiscent of those included with headphones.

You know, the big over the ear headphones.

A drone the size of your headphones.

We truly are living in the future.

Ok.

It's a small drone.

We seen those everywhere.

Most of them are more toys than anything.

What about image quality?

Would you believe me if I told you that the image quality is better than the Mavic Pro?

4K 30fps.

The same as the Mavic Pro.

BUT the big difference between the two is that the Mavic Air records at a bitrate of

100 Mbps.

And what that means is that when you export your video, when you compress it, when you

upload, when you play it back, all these different algorithms will have almost double the information to

work with.

Which will make for an image of much higher quality.

So, we have a more portable drone, with a higher image quality.

What about the price?

$799.

$200 less than the Mavic Pro.

Do I wish it would cost $200-$300 less?

Of course, but you know…

My prayers have been answered!

The official price for the Mavic Pro is $999, however the last time I saw it on Amazon it

was at about $860 dollars.

So about 60 dollars less than the Mavic Air.

I'll include a link in the description.

But David, you just said the Mavic Air is better than the Mavic Pro, why would I go

and spend $60 dollars more on the Mavic Pro?!

Was that offensive?

You don't sound like that.

I'm sorry.

There are a few things that the Pro actually does better.

Mainly: battery life, and range.

Also, I get the feeling that the Pro, being the bigger drone, would handle better in strong

winds.

The Mavic Pro has an official maximum flight time of 27 minutes vs the Air's 21 minutes.

Which might not seem a lot, but those extra batteries are like $80 each, and those minutes

will add up.

You can also control the Mavic Pro over three times the distance than the Mavic Air.

Seven kilometers vs two kilometers.

Having said that you really want to keep the drone in your line of sight.

It can be very dangerous if you don't.

Believe me.

And if you fly them too far away, these things completely lose themselves in the sky.

Which is why I would personally go with the red color of the Mavic Air.

Anything that might help me to not lose sight of the drone so easily, I'll welcome it.

Of course, if there's a crash or anything happens, the Air, being the smaller drone,

would probably cause less damage than the Pro.

Safety first!

The choice is yours!

But it seems to me that DJI's greatest competitor remains DJI themselves.

So, hats off to them.

I picked up a few wedding hacks that have helped me

survive these Big Fat Indian weddings.

On this episode of China Uncensored,

China's next financial crisis is lurking in the shadows...

of shadow banking.

It's like China stacked up 9 trillion dollars...

on the edge of a cliff.

Hi, welcome to China Uncensored.

I'm Matt Gnaizda.

I'm in today for Chris Chappell,

who's on vacation,

possibly in the South China Sea.

Today, we're going to talk about shadow banking.

It's like the evil twin of regular banking.

Shadow banking involves lots of money,

and lots of risk.

And it's tied to China's crazy investment boom.

China's economic boom

and its reliance on shadow banking

is similar in some ways to the US economic boom in 2007.

Remember:

A lot of great things happened in 2007.

Apple released the iPhone 1.

The last Harry Potter book was published...

which Chris still has not read.

And the US economy had its last...good...year.

Because then this happened.

"Stocks all around the world are tanking

because of the crisis on Wall Street."

"The stock market is now down 21%"

"We have armageddon.

In the fixed income markets we have armageddon."

"No, but..."

"We have armageddon."

"Armageddon"—thanks Jim Cramer—

happened after the failure

of a single investment bank had a domino effect

on the entire global financial system.

Trillions of dollars were lost,

and so were millions of jobs.

Well, it's been ten years since then.

These guys have recovered,

but these guys...not so much.

But now, this same kind of boom and crash could happen in China—

and for the same reason.

As Bloomberg puts it,

China is playing a 9 trillion dollar game of chicken

called Shadow Banking.

And like a game of chicken,

some investors will get out in time.

But others will plunge off the cliff,

bursting into a ball of flames on the rocks below.

So what is this totally legit and trustworthy sounding "shadow banking"?

To put it simply,

shadow banking is when banks—

or companies that are not banks—

lend money outside of the normal structure

of bank deposits and loans.

Here's a simplified explanation.

In the traditional banking system,

if a business owner wants to grow his business,

he goes to a bank, and that bank loans him money.

Over time,

he repays that money to the bank,

plus interest.

Let's say a single bank makes 100 loans.

It's pretty careful about who it loans to.

But even so,

some of the businesses will fail,

so Chinese regulations require

that the bank set aside money

to cover potential losses.

But shadow banking operates outside that traditional system.

Let's say 100 businesses want loans.

A shadow bank packages those 100 potential loans

into what's called a Wealth Management Product.

Then it goes to investors and is like,

"Hey, buy our Wealth Management Product.

It has a high interest rate."

When the businesses repay,

the investors will get their investment back

plus a lot of interest.

This is shadow banking.

It can also get more complicated.

Because sometimes the bank isn't a bank,

but just a regular company that packages investments.

And sometimes the businesses that want to borrow money

aren't regular businesses.

They might even be a local government

that wants money to build a bridge or whatever.

All these things can be packaged into Wealth Management Products,

or other types of financial products,

and then sold to investors—

or sold to investment companies,

which then re-package them

before selling to individual investors.

A lot of times,

shadow bank loans get so complicated

that no one understands exactly what the risk is.

According to this article,

"The repackaging of credit is so complex

that bankers often have to resort to line drawings

that look like schematic plans for a Rube Goldberg device

to explain to clients what's going on."

A Rube Goldberg device.

Like when you pull a lever,

that sets a wheel in motion,

that knocks down some dominoes,

that ends up destroying the economy.

But all this shadow banking

and Wealth Management whatevers

are so complicated!

Investors don't want to know details!

That's why companies involved in shadow banking

put out feel-good ads like this:

"Everyone holds sunshine at their hearts

Everbright your life

China Everbright Bank"

See?

Give us your money,

and you'll have sunshine in your heart!

That bank, Everbright, is actually a legit commercial bank.

It makes regular loans, too.

But recently it's also been selling

a lot of shadow banking products to investors,

because that allows Everbright

to maximize profit without putting

so much of its own money on the line.

Basically, it sells the risk to investors.

But a lot of Chinese investors

don't think risk matters that much,

because the Chinese government will probably

bail everyone out if things go badly.

Like this investor in this Bloomberg article,

who explains that the Chinese government

would never let a big wealth management product fail,

because it's just not Chinese culture.

Sounds like wishful thinking, right?

But the Chinese government has bailed out banks in the past.

Like the $45 billion dollar bailout in 2004.

So assuming they'll do it again seems reasonable.

Although if you've ever read the terms and conditions

on any investment product ever,

you've seen that "past performance is no guarantee of future results."

Sure, the Chinese government may have done

a small 45 billion dollar bailout in the past.

But it doesn't want to do a 9 trillion dollar bailout now.

Besides, back then,

there was almost no shadow banking in China.

It only started happening on a large scale

after the global financial crisis ten years ago.

Authorities tried to stimulate China's economy

by having banks lend more money.

But soon, demand for borrowing got so high

that banks didn't have enough money to lend people.

So banks started packaging loans

and selling them to investors to get the cash.

And it became such a big market,

other companies that aren't even banks got into the game.

According to a 2016 report,

shadow bank loans now make up 57 percent all loans in China.

In other words,

more than half of all lending in China now

is actually done through shadow banking!

And this is a big problem

because shadow bank loans are usually

a lot riskier than traditional loans.

Once companies start packaging and repackaging,

it's easy to lose track of what the risk actually is.

It even starts to seem like a good idea,

like jumping out of a plane without a parachute.

The problem is,

it only works if you're you're Keanu Reeves, dude.

Oh, and there's another problem.

Shadow banking loans don't get recorded

on banks' balance sheets.

That makes banks look healthier than they actually are—

and that also increases the risk.

And guess what?

That's exactly what happened in the US

leading up to the 2007 crisis.

Banks had been packaging

and repackaging home loans,

then selling and reselling the packages,

and eventually even the nerds at Lehman Brothers

had no idea how to calculate the risk anymore.

Shadow banking in the US was the lever

that set the global financial crisis in motion,

and ironically, its domino effect

is what led to the rise of shadow banking in China.

And now Chinese authorities are getting worried

about what's coming next.

In fact,

"Zhou Xiaochuan, the head of China's central bank

has openly warned that authorities need to curb financial risks

that might lead to a 'Minsky Moment'—

a sudden collapse of asset prices,

sparked by debt or currency pressures,

after a long period of growth."

Basically, bad debt in shadow banking

could end up wrecking the Chinese economy.

And if the Chinese economy gets wrecked,

it could lead to serious consequences

for the Chinese Communist Party.

You know, because no one believes in that communism stuff anymore,

so they tell people to go make money

and don't talk about politics.

But if people start losing their money on a massive scale,

people might start talking about politics again—

like who's to blame.

That's why, at a top level conference in July,

Xi Jinping declared that financial security

was vital to national security.

"National security" is of course code

for the CCP securing its power over the nation.

But it's not 2007 anymore.

It's 2018.

We have iPhone 10s,

Johnny Depp is a Harry Potter villain,

and Chinese shadow banking has swelled to more than $9 trillion.

The Chinese government can't afford

to bail everyone out

when things go south.

They're trying to rein in shadow banking.

But once you let the tiger out of the cage,

well, it...

I guess it runs around and eats people.
