Toyota AE86 - Everything You Need to Know | Up to Speed - Duration: 12:05.

This episode of Up to Speed is brought to you by Squarespace

Have I got a story for you.

I was driving home from a late night on the mountain,

flying down the Touge, drifting the turns like the Drift King I am, when suddenly,

I spoted some headlights in your rearview, and they're coming fast.

I clutch kicked my car around the bend to shake the little challenger off but I just

couldn't lose it, it's sliding right behind me.

Is that an 8-6?

You're kidding me!

I'm the number two driver of the Akigi Red Suns God Damn it!

I slow for a turn but the punchy Carolla...

passes me?

Doesn't the driver even know this road?

After this slow right is a sharp left.

There's a ravine on the other side, he's gotta hit the brakes!

To my amazement the 8-6 flicks its tail from one side of the road to the other with ease.

The pulsing Eurobeat ends, and all I'm left with is the sight of a white hatchback leaving

me behind.

You know what the fu** this is!

This is everything you need to know to get Up to Speed on the Toyota AE86!

Hachi-Roku MOTHERFU****!

What makes the AE86 so cool is that for a long time, it wasn't.

While everyone in the world was drooling over the big dogs: The Skyline GT-R, The RX-7,

The NSX, and The Supra , the Carolla was riding it's own wave.

Other cars have more power, other cars are better looking,

Even in Toyota's own line up the Corolla was a under dog.

The Celica Supra was at the top, the MR2 was this weird spaceship little brother,

and the AE86 was just happy to be there,

knowing it would blow people's minds if given the chance.

Back in the 70s You either bought American or maybe german or british, because A.

there wasn't anything else and B.

It was basically your duty as an American.

But all of a sudden there were Japanese brands: Datsun, Honda and Toyota.

And their cars were good.

The Japanese saw the weak points in other brands and designed their cars to avoid them.

It might have been scary at the time but if you bought something Japanese, like a Toyota,

you could expect it to be reliable, well-engineered, and most importantly, affordable.

The Carolla had been all those things for nearly 17 years.

When first introduced, the Carolla was the smallest car in 'Yota's US lineup, and

maintained a rear wheel drive layout until the early 80s.

But Toyota couldn't ignore the benefits front wheel drive any longer.

It was more efficient, freed up interior space and was cheaper to build.

So in 1984, Toyota released a front wheel drive Carolla.

That's what the Corolla is, until this day.

So there you have it, everything you need to know to get up to speed on the- wait, sorry.

Oh yeah, tchI forgot.

Even though there was a front wheel drive version, Toyota also kept building

a rear wheel wheel drive version.

Using totally different layouts and platforms under the same name.

On top of that, the rear wheel drive version also had two versions, a two door coupe and

a three door lift back.

And then, There were two styles of each: The Levin, which had fixed headlights, and the

Trueno...Turino? Truno? Treno? No that was Trueno...

And the Trueno, which had pop up fu**ing headlights.

So, this rear wheel drive Corolla would be it's swan song, the ultimate culmination

of everything great about the Corolla.

So what do we call it?

Well, it'll be powered by a 4A engine, I's an E code chassis, and E80 to be exact, and

it'll be the 6 variant.

I've got it, the AE86!

Corolla, Ultimate form!

"Wait! It's over 9..."

Toyota restyled the Corolla's Coupe and liftback bodies, and dropped one of their

best engines EVER, on of THE BEST engines ever under the hood: The 4A-GE.

This fun size four banger was designed with two things in mind: powering small cars like

the 86, and RACIN'.

It had a cast iron block for strength, an aluminum head to add lightness, and a redline

of 7 and a half grand.

Do you know what that sounds like?

Do you?

Imagine your neighbor's a beekeeper, making honey in his backyard.

One afternoon you sneak back there, you want a taste, just a little bit o' taste that sweet sweet nasty goop

You open up a hive to grab some of that sweet honeycomb but it turns out he's not raising bees...

They're chainsaws, and they're pissed!

It sounds like that.

The 4A-GE only made 128 horsepower BUT the 86 had a curb weight of around about 2300 lbs.

The car had superb balance too, meaning the weight was evenly distributed between each wheel.

The result was super predictable and agile handling.

To get the power to the ground, the 86 didn't use fancy independent rear suspension,

this things gotta be affordable, 'member?

It had a live rear axle like a fu**ing muscle car.

This made doing fat skids super easy and pretty unavoidable.

The AE86 had no business being as good as it was.

It's a holy union of driving excellence.

The 86 was driven in pretty much every kind of racing you can imagine.

There were 86 racing leagues, it raced in the British Touring Car Championship and won

the whole series, twice!

And despite being two wheel drive the 86 was also a killer rally car.

But above the rest, there is one sport the AE86 is most famous for:

Ever heard of..."drifting"?

The Corolla's small size and snappy handling made it perfect for charging down the mountains of Japan

A young man named Keiichi Tsuchiya would drive these roads everyday in his own AE86.

He didn't have the money to race professionally, so Keiichi honed his skills on the mountain.

And the kid was a natural.

Keiichi's sweet drift moves made him unbeatable on the mountain, and he gained a huge underground following.

Just like me.

Spending all your time drifting on snowy mountain roads without killing yourself makes you a

pretty darn good driver.

But would sloshing around on a mountain make you that much better on a track?

Fu** yeah!

Keiichi was so good, he got sponsored to race professionally immediately.

He started winning so much, that he was like "if I keep winning by this much,

people are gonna get bored.

And if people get bored, they're not gonna watch me race."

So, he started drifting turns.

He gave 'em the ol' razzle dazzle.

And the fans frickin' loved it.

It's like he took a 5 minute phone call in the middle of a 4 Runner video.

Even while he was racing, he spent his free time on the mountain.

Keiichi was enough of a star that he convinced some sponsors to give him some money to make

a little short film of his oversteering exploits.

That film is called 'Pluspy'. 'Plus pee' 'Plusssspeee"

And it's like a legit art film.

Like, it's not just a drift tape, it's art.

The video took the car world by storm.

Just like me.

People were all like 'Whaaat?

"The fu** is going on?"

It was basically the Velvet Underground of drift tapes.

Without Pluspy there would be no Gymkhana, no Fast and Furious, no Donut!

No me!

Toyota ended production of the AE86 in 1987, with almost no changes over the course of its life.

In 2009 Toyota revealed the FT-86 concept, developed in partnership with Subaru.

It was a two-door, four cylinder, rear wheel drive coupe inspired by the 86.

Hail to the King, baby.

In the states it was released under two names: The Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S,

but in Japan it was just called the Toyota 86.

Just like the AE86, it didn't have a ton of power, but it was light, and it liked to drift like it's daddy.

Just like me.

It's ironic that the sport the AE86 helped create, is the reason you can't afford one anymore.

The drift tax is a real thing.

The new 86 is a love letter to the age when the old 86 flourished.

A time when people wanted a no frills daily driver that was also fun to drive.

Just like Jessica.

Maybe that time is gone.

But if the revived interest in the AE86 is anything to go by, people will want a simple,

reliable, tofu-delivering underdog for a long, long time.

Fern and Rosemary: Guinea Pigs at Glasgow Middle School - Duration: 2:02.

Hi I'm Sarah Allen I'm one of the librarians here at Glasgow Middle School

and I'm holding Fern, one of our guinea pigs.

And I'm Amber Couch, the other librarian, and this is Rosemary.

We feel like it's really been beneficial to our students they

have had the opportunity to come in and read to them and do work....

Come on over, come on over!

while, um, while petting them.

It's really drawn students into the library as kind of a... Some students are

just curious. Some students we know don't have pets at home and this is kind of

their surrogate pet here at school.

They have... We use the guinea pigs Fern

and Rosemary for all of our advertising it's just really been a great way to

connect with the students on an entirely different level than we had

before.

Oh my gosh!

Cute!

Frequently they'll hang out here at the desk

and when kids come to check out books they'll give them some cuddles.

some of them bring them extra carrots in and stuff from lunch.

We also have teachers who, as an incentive, will send kids down to read with the guinea pigs.

Thank you for the kisses!

Thank you!

Our, um, FACS, Family and Consumer Science students, we worked with them and

they made those cuddle sacks that you saw for the for the guinea pigs of

little little pads that they can cuddle up with.

And on it we have it looks we call GPT or guinea pig therapy.

We have a lot of teachers who, you know, are having a stressful day or just super busy and

just want to take some time to just come down here and they'll they'll take them

and sit in those chairs and just cuddle them or even two minutes between classes

and just relax

They are just so cute.

Nice conversation.

26 - Cricket spin and pole move - Duration: 3:14.

Hello my friends!

Today we are going to talk about the trick called Cricket and the backwards spin of the

same name.

To practice a static posture for the spin, stand on your tiptoes really close to the

pole, a side to it, grip the pole with the armpit of your inside arm and take it with

your outside hand nice and high.

Your outside arm should be straight, while the inside one is bent, the elbow is pointed

down.

Keep your shoulders pulled back and down, squeeze your shoulder blades together.

Now hook the knee of your inside leg down there, that is, place your straight leg on

the front of the pole in the area under your knee, then bend it.

Make your knee point down and push your hips forward.

Holding the pole with both your hands and your underknee, lift your outside leg and

move it straight behind the pole.

Press your ankle to the pole.

So, this position is exactly the one your are going to hold while spinning.

Let's go on to the Cricket Spin itself.

Again, stand on your tiptoes a side to the pole, take the pole with both your hands,

using a basic grip: your inside hand is holding the pole nice and high, your arm is straight;

your outside hand is at your armpit level.

Take a step forward with your outside leg and start to spin on it, so that you were

able to catch the pole with your outside armpit.

Use your "new" outside leg to swing around, then place it behind the pole, pressing your

ankle against it.

At the same time hook the pole with the knee of your inside leg and continue to spin.

Notice that if you slide down too much, while entering the spin, you won't be able to place

your straight leg behind the pole, as it needs more altitude, and you might even hit your

foot against the floor.

To avoid it, first, don't forget to start your spin, standing on your tiptoes.

And second: at the moment of getting into the spin, but before lifting your legs, you

can move your hands higher along the pole and, during the spin, pull your body up, lowering

your shoulders.

Do the Cricket Spin on both sides.

Now let's work on the pretty pole element, on the Cricket.

One of the most comfortable and convenient ways to get into it, is after the Side Climb,

when your outside hand is higher than your inside one.

So, after a climb, pull your body up, still holding the knee of your inside leg hooked,

pointing this knee not forward, but downward.

Straighten your outside leg and press your ankle against the pole.

You should feel nice grip with your underknee, ankle, hip and the armpit of your inside arm.

Now, pressing the upper part of your inside arm hard on the pole, release your hand and

stretch it out.

Keep a tight grip with your armpit.

If you feel confident, stretch your outside arm out as well.

You did the Cricket Trick!

I like the way the trick looks like, especially when an outside arm is raised overhead and

a head is tilted back slightly.

To come out of the trick, bring both your hands back on the pole, unhook the knee of

your inside leg and move into the Basic Climb.

So, today we have learnt the spin and the trick Cricket.

Wish you the best in your trainings!

Share your results using the hashtag #poledream_online . Bye!

KARL MARX/ WHAT is PRIMITIVE ACCUMULATION...? - Duration: 3:48.

Hey guys, It`s Nikki and i`m wondering: do you know what is the Primitive Accumulation?

If not or you`re not sure stay to find out.

In a previous videowe discussed how money transforms into Capital and now let`s talk

about the Accumulation of Capital.

That is using the surplus-money as Capital simply putted basically when you invest your

profit back into your business for more profit.

But what Marx is interested is the Primitive Accumulation or that is the mechanism of the

Fist Accumulation ever how was it done and on what cost?

For him the vital condition for the first accumulation to happen is separating the people

from the means of production.

Why would our Tom work for you if he has everything necessary for his living?

He wouldn`t.

So the first step was to deprive the people from their land, they lost no only their homes

but also the fields or their way of making a living- now they needed to buy food and

homes which is even better- expansion of home market . As for how was it done?

Marx putted it simply: stealing, lying and bribes.

So now the people needed to work for the capitalists in order to survive but the science and technology

had a fast development under the pressure of Capital which caused decreasing in variable

Capita(employee work)l in account for the Constant or buying machines instead of hiring

people.

So the result is lost of value of human labour(work), low pay and unemployment.

Perfect now there was working class with normal degree of dependency who cared that they died

like ants and lived in misery, the accumulation was flourishing.

The main point for Marx to look into this subject is his conclusion that the capitalist

private property is a devil`s creation.

Okey, maybe not so dramatic but he was convinced that that is one of the keystones of the capitalist

system and the main problem of the society( working class at least).

That`s why in communist society there isn`t any private property because when the land

is owned by the Country everybody is equal because the means of production are shared

amount everybody or that`s the key idea behind it.

But we all know there is a difference between theory and practice.

That was the last video about Marx, but next time we`ll talk about Sigmund Freud so if

you`re interested click on to the nerdy bird to subscribe and if you liked this video thumbs

up and leave me a comment to tell me what you think.

You can also get the audio of this video and listen to it next time you`re heading to your

lectures here or check some of my other videos you might like them, all links will be also

in the description, bye.

This Is Why You Don't Hear About Ty Pennington Anymore - Duration: 3:24.

Ty Pennington got his start in television in the early 2000s as the designing hunk on

Trading Spaces, and for a while, he was everywhere.

But after releasing several design books and building an empire, the handyman virtually

disappeared.

Here's why he's been skirting the spotlight.

Battling ADHD

As the host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Pennington was clearly energetic.

"Put the helmet on Frankie!

You're gonna love it!"

But it wasn't until recently that he confessed he suffers from ADHD.

Pennington told The Huffington Post, "I see a psychiatrist…

Medication has helped.

It's something that's worked for me for several years in small doses."

Candidly expressing how his disorder impacts all aspects of his life, he told the site,

"It affects the way you communicate…

If you can't pay attention to someone who's trying to tell you something [...] they think

that you may not even care."

That's a wrap

After an astounding 202 episodes, Extreme

Makeover: Home Edition was officially canceled by ABC in 2012.

As Pennington told Parade, leaving the show behind wasn't easy, saying,

"It's something that I'll always be proud of…

[The show was] my family."

But since then, Pennington says he's relishing the less-hectic schedule, sharing,

"I'm trying to reconnect with my own family."

Failed 'Revolution'

Pennington attempted to break into daytime television as part of ABC talk show The Revolution,

which aimed to totally transform a person's life.

But the show flopped, lasting just six months in 2012.

Co-host Tim Gunn said the show was doomed from the start, telling USA Today,

"To be perfectly honest, it was a matter of too many cooks in the kitchen — too many

ABC executives with too many different points of view."

86-ing 'On the Menu'

In 2014, Pennington joined TNT to launch On

the Menu, co-starring celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse.

He told the Wall Street Journal, "I love food.

My brother's a wine guy so I've been involved in food a long time."

But despite his passion for the genre, the show was pulled after just 10 episodes.

Community outreach

Pennington recently teamed up with Sears to launch the Building Community Together initiative,

which renovates local landmarks to better serve communities.

Pennington told DoItYourself.com, "...With Sears Home Services we're employing

over 1,000 people nationwide, which is great…

The impact I think will be pretty phenomenal."

And since 2014, Pennington has been quietly involved with the Abōd Shelters Foundation,

whose mission is to provide sustainable, quality housing to areas in need around the world.

Pennington said in a 2016 speech, "I see a huge unmet need for sustainable,

low-cost housing for families living in poverty in places like Africa but also here in America

where so many go homeless."

'Trading Spaces' reboot

Pennington credits Trading Spaces with the

entire DIY home renovation boom of the early 2000s.

He told Inspired Living in 2016, "For the first time we put tools in the homeowners'

hands...and next thing you know, Home Depot stocks went through the roof...Trading Spaces

changed the face of DIY for sure."

It's no surprise then, that when TLC announced the return of the series in July 2017, including

longtime host Paige Davis as well as many of the original designers, Pennington was

also on board.

Pennington teased his return to the series with a late-2017 post, writing, "In a world

where space is traded..."

Here's hoping Pennington's return to his TV roots may also serve as a jumpstart for his

career.

And he's ready for it.

Set in 1960s Greece, The Two Faces of January follows a wealthy American couple, played

by Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst.

They run across a shady yet charming grifter, played by Oscar Isaac, who makes his living

swindling tourists.

Soon enough, the trio is covering up a crime and running from the cops.

If you're in the mood for something simmering and suspenseful — complete with an exotic

locale and plenty of pretty faces hiding all sorts of dirty secrets — then check out

this Hitchcockian film.

The Stanford Prison Experiment

Inspired by the most infamous study in the history of psychology, The Stanford Prison

Experiment will leave you battered, bruised, and gasping for breath.

The film follows a group of college students selected to take part in the scariest role-playing

exercise of all time.

Half are assigned the part of prisoners, and the others are given guard duty.

"From this point forward, you should never refer to this as study or experiment again."

It's a grueling experience, made all the more intense by its talented young stars.

If it weren't based on a true story, this would feel like a horror movie.

Instead, it's a gritty reflection of the abuse of power in our world — which is far more

terrifying.

The Trust

In the underrated thriller The Trust, Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood play cops who are sick

of their lives and hoping to turn things around by cracking a massive safe owned by criminals,

hidden inside a grocery store.

The duo quickly assembles a plan to pull off the heist, but while the first half of the

film goes by fast, the second half slows down as they put their plan into action... and

it's here that The Trust truly shines.

Throw in a killer ending, and you've got a bizarre little thriller that totally deserves

your attention.

I Don't Feel At Home in This World Anymore

Critically speaking, I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore was a smash hit, winning

the Grand Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Still, this wildly entertaining film hasn't gotten enough mainstream love, and it definitely

deserves a bigger fanbase.

The story follows an increasingly frustrated nurse named Ruth, played by Melanie Lynskey.

"You've been s------ in my yard."

"I have not."

"Your dog."

Every day, Ruth notices that people are just awful.

Unwilling to take it anymore, Ruth joins up with her antisocial neighbor, played by Elijah

Wood, to bring the crooks to justice.

Wood is hilarious as a wannabe tough guy, and Lynskey might be the most relatable protagonist

in cinematic history.

All this frustrated nurse wants is for people to stop being jerks, and if you don't shape

up, she's going to track you down and teach you some manners.

Wheelman

Shot almost exclusively inside a nondescript BMW, Wheelman is a claustrophobic thriller,

a movie that makes you feel just as trapped and helpless as its hero, played by Frank

Grillo.

The film follows a nameless getaway driver who's sucked into a game of cat-and-mouse.

He begins juggling phone calls as he works his way up and down city streets, trying to

discover who's pulling the strings, all while keeping his teenage daughter out of harm's

way.

The tension slowly ratchets up for Grillo, who attempts to puzzle his way out of a job

gone wrong.

Grillo is at the top of his game here, and if this were a just and fair world, his performance

in Wheelman would turn this guy into an A-list star.

Mother

Equal parts social satire, slapstick comedy, and dark mystery, Mother follows an unnamed

herbalist who's determined to prove her mentally handicapped son is innocent after he's arrested

for a brutal crime.

That's easier said than done, as nobody believes her story.

But as she digs deeper into the case, she's eventually forced to make a decision that

proves there's nothing more powerful than a mother's love.

Snowpiercer director Bong Joon-ho is such a skilled filmmaker that you'll be sitting

on the edge of your seat.

And no matter how many suspense flicks you've seen before, you won't be able to guess where

this film is headed.

Camera Calibration with MATLAB - Duration: 4:08.

Hello everybody I'm Şammas. In this video I'm gonna talk about how to calibrate a

camera with a MATLAB.So what is camera calibration? Camera calibration estimates

the parameters of the lens an image sensor of an image or video camera you

can use this parameter correct the lens distortion ,measure the size of an object

in world units or the determine location of the camera in the scene. These tasks

are used in applications such as machine vision detect and measure objects.

They are also used in robotics for navigation system and traditional

construction

Camera parameters include intrinsic , extrinsic and distortion coefficients.

let's look at these parameters as you can see intrinsic parameters

includes focal length optical Center lens distortion coefficients and pixel

scale and factors

extrinsic parameters cameras location in a space in a relation to a fixed object

let's get back matlab. In a matlab, you can click apps and in here camera

calibration app and you can click on it.

so here,it is a camera calibrater in this part we need 20 or 30 images

taken from different angles. in here we click add images select the folder that

contains our images

as you can see I used checkerboard images and my checkerboard was asymmetric so

you should use asymmetric checkerboard if you use symmetric checkerboard your

estimateerrors will be increase and we don't want it .I'm selecting right

now

in here we must enter one checkerboard square size. in my images that was 21

millimeters clicking okay

matlab is ending analyzing image processing

the process is ended right now and here as you can see our images right

here just click one of them as you can see the green circles are the detected

points and the yellow square our origin

different angles as you can see

this part is important you must take different angles and now we could click

calibrate button MATLAB computing the parameters right now it's ended

in the final process you can click the export camera parameters you can enter

the name of variables and click OK

parameters here workspace here prompts we need intrinsic matrix and

focal length we click interesting matches these are dependent on the focal

length and these are the axis this is a standard always one these are always

zero we can use this matrix exporting a text

file or another mathematic file

thank you for watching thank you for watching hopefully it's work for you I

will be grateful if you click the like button and subscribe and don't forget to

check my other videos good bye
