I'm searching

for something

that I

can't reach

I don't like them innocent, I don't want no face fresh Want them wearing leather, begging, let me be your taste test I like the sad eyes, bad guys, mouth full of white lies Kiss me in the corridor, but quick to tell me goodbye

You say that you're no good for me Cause I'm always tugging at your sleeve And I swear I hate you when you leave But I like it anyway

My ghost, where'd you go? I can't find you in the body sleeping next to me

My ghost, where'd you go? What happened to the soul that you used to be?

You're a Rolling Stone boy, never-sleep-alone boy Got a million numbers and they're filling up your phone, boy

I'm off the deep end, sleeping all night through the weekend

Saying that I love him but I know I'm gonna leave him

You say that you're no good for me

Cause I'm always tugging at your sleeve And I swear I hate you when you leave But I like it anyway

Growing Calls for President Trump to Read Explosive FISA Memo Du - Duration: 2:02.

Growing Calls for President Trump to Read Explosive FISA Memo During State of Union

Address

There is a massive scandal brewing at the top ranks of Americas premier law enforcement

agency.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) prepared a four-page explosive memo recently, based on classified

material that purportedly lays out what the FBI and others did to corrupt the 2016 election.

According to Rep. Dave Joyce (R-OH) and others, the memo is deeply disturbing.

The memo needs to be released to the public.

The US public has a right to know about the entrenched corruption in the FBI.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), Oversight Committee Chairman Trey

Gowdy (R-SC) and Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) huddled together Saturday

to discuss a never-before-used procedure for releasing the shocking FISA abuse

memo.

Now there are growing calls for President Trump to read the explosive memo during his

State of the Union Address on Tuesday.

Chris Farrell from Judicial Watch suggested this on Lou Dobbs Tonight on Wednesday.

Jack Posobiec tweeted this out on Wednesday.

Why did my boyfriend buy there? | VLOG - Duration: 15:35.

are you ready with make-up?

Hey!

don't film me when I have just one eyelash put on

Yes I do! I can even zoom in on you!

Nooo please don't!

then I zoom in on the dog!

what's up?

let's make a vlog with Chopper

he has much to tell you!

Chopper, what can you tell me?

Why aren't there no vlogs for so long?

it wasn't that long!

because I spent the last two weeks with make up

no just kidding, I don't know!

January is such a dead month where nothing happens

the good thing is that I was able to work on some tasks

I also do some content videos for different brands

and this is where I had some time for

that is also a lot of work

I said I will never do make-up videos and now you film me during that!

my hair looks like a bird's nest

BTW: look what I'm wearing

the whole scene is absolutely grey

what do we do today?

tell me about that

we will drive to Cologne today

what's up in Cologne?

I will pick-up my new camera there

you'll buy a new camera? Which one?

I have the Sony A7R2 and I want the A7S2

when I bought the A7R2, I used it mostly for photos

but the S2 is made for videos

and we do mostly videos instead of photos

and the low light performance is better

when there is less available light you have better quality

and we film mostly within cars where it is darker

therefore I need the A7S2

and you can do better slow-motion videos with it!

why don't you film yourself when you explain something?

I think it's boring when people watch me while you talk

yes but I also need a different lense for that purpose

there is a very simple trick where you can just turn the camera 180°

that trick works only with the new camera

so we'll drive there in a bit

and you pick that up from Cologne?

exactly!

then we can test that out

yes

I'm curious, because it can

record very cool slow motions right?

the new one can do them even slower?

yes

I love slow-motion and

you can make video look epic!

my current camera can do 120 frames per second

on 720 pixel

and the same amount of frames per second can handle the new one on full-HD or 1080 pixel

okay! Tell me more while I put on some blush powder

and we film everything in 4K anyway

we don't lose much quality

okay, ready!

Let's go!

first I have to fix that bird's nest on my head

yes

let's go

ok

and we are in the car now

yes

that was fast. It's like magic!

Now we are heading towards Cologne

Cologne!!!

Did you notice that it takes ages to heat up the GTI?

yes

The Porsche would be warm already and this one isn't even at 50°C (122°F)

oil-temperature

when it's at 50°C it shows a number here

it takes long and mostly it is warm when I arrived at my destination

I feel risky today so I push that sport-button

OMG

what happens now?

the oil is warm

yes the oil is warm now

okay, so we will drive to Ingolstadt on Monday and what we do there is a secret

and...

we can upload the next video on Monday or Tuesday

Then we can say more about that

if we make it, but I doubt that

because it is my birthday on Tuesday

I want to celebrate

from Monday into Tuesday in Ingolstadt

I thought we could look for a nice bar in the Hotel maybe

or maybe somewhere in Ingolstadt...

I don't know. Where can we go in Ingolstadt?

well...

I don't know, there is just Audi

I think 50% of the city works for Audi

So we will take you with us to Audi

we can show you a few things next week, but a few things are a confident until the end of February

it's about a car that does not exist yet

well, it doesn't exist like that at the moment

stop it!

and we cannot say more about that at the moment!

really?

it is about a car?

yes

insane!

by Audi

from Audi?

and from Ingolstadt!

from Ingolsadt! That's insane!

it's gonna be exciting for sure!

yes

now let's talk about something else!

do you know that kind of people who say

I know a secret but I'm not allowed to tell you

and then they don't tell you about that

and you are like: why did you tell me that if you are not allowed to tell me the whole story?

you are like that at the moment

feel free to leave a comment if you think you know about what car we are talking about!

when we upload that video it's not gonna be Monday, because we have to edit it

we can do that in the car too! On our way back

it's so dark here

that is how we did it on the Audi A7 video

we were... no, wait

we edited it in the Hotel

we finished editing before the news blackout ended

then we uploaded it directly

and we translate everything into English, but that was too much work so we did that the next day in the car

And we had so many problems with the Internet

no wait, Adobe crashed all the time

yes

Adobe wasn't working for more than one hour and I was just ready

when there is a car presentation there is always a news blackout

you are not allowed to upload anything

but of course you want to upload content as soon as possible when there is a new car

when news blackout is over

and we were like: let's edit the whole day so we will be the first

we were so exhausted and we also had a headache

and just before we were ready, Adobe crashed

I wasn't able to edit the video for an hour

I uploaded the video with a one hour delay after press blackout

I think we have to hurry now

yes, we have 20 to ...

we have to be there at 2pm

we are not gonna make that

it will be quarter past 2

so let's hurry!

it still feels weird when I got filmed on a public road

the camera isn't the smallest one

people always think: who is that? Do I have to know her?

Do you remember when we shot our very first video?

on Geneva Motor Show 2015

yes!

Nobody knew about us and there were many people who wanted to take a picture with me

and many car manufacturer let us onto their stand

although it was not accessable for visitors

and we were visitors back then

yes, right

just because we had a camera

we looked kinda important

Nobody know us but we looked important

but people who took pictures with me

Maybe in 5 years they think:

I was one of the first 100 subscribers

back then we had connections to Apollo

right at the beginning

yes correct

but the project was...

what was the name again?

I think it was just Apollo wasn't it?

the project was stopped but now it's back

I really like it

the concept car Apollo...

I don't remember either

here is your store

Let's go inside

it's the first time that I film with such a big camera

how can you carry that, it is so heavy?

I work out!

How do you feel now?

good!

I don't have a clue about those cameras gear

therefore he knows more about it

I wonder how all those bloggers walk around with those big cameras?

and film themselvers which is very difficult and heavy

what's the weight of it?

the lense is heavier than the camera!

and how much is it together?

let me guess

2-3kg?

could be!

what do you say?

this combination?

No, this one. It's the G-Master lense

oh okay, but it's not more than 2kg

but carrying 2kg as a woman without muscles

yes, in your case!

you want to put that on right?

yes

so...

what are the new features?

it has a better low-light performance

because we film inside a car

you have to explain it for non-professionals

what does low-light performance mean?

you'll get better quality when there is not enough light

because you have less megapixels

they absorb more light then a lot of megapixels on the same sensor size

I cannot hold the camera for a minute

you can hold it now

when we are on a motor show I have muscle hangover at night

what's that?

you can attach it to the camera an place it everywhere

But I prefer a tripod like this one over there

look over there, that is what I still need

no no, don't you know... oh wait

yes right

the tripod over there

yes exactly

oh dear that camera is so heavy

show me

this is basically the same one that you are filming with

but you have a different lense on it right?

yes but I will put on this one too

you really have to be fit as a cameraman

That's why I film myself with a GoPro

That's why I never go the gym

oh nice I can lean my arm here

do you need batterys? Once we are here...

no thanks

we can buy them somewhere else later

you have to look happier!

what do I look like?

look happier!

yes we need that!

this is good for the weight of the camera

I need it for holding the camera anyway

to have more stabilization, I don't want to place it somewhere

I thinkg that is short enough right?

no, that is too short

it works too

I prefer that one

just for holding it...

I think this one is ideal, because

this is longer and you can place it everywhere

yes

I prefer that!

with ballhead

people also like this

nooo

it's not too bad

you cannot place it somewhere

you can open it there and it comes with a ballhead too

okay

that works too

no!

I want the other one

I want that

let's go home!

Are you excited about your new camera?

yes, I am!

I just drive anywhere

yes, just drive anywhere

is that even a road for cars here?

yes, satnav says we must drive here

yes but the satnav lies sometimes

no it's the correct way

is it?

yes!

there is a sign for pedestrians only

no, you drive left bevore that sign

you have to drive left here

is it fun to drive in the city like that?

no

right is clear

when you ask like that it's a no!

now it's dark already

yes

test your new camera! It must be better in low light right?

yes

now!

are you happy now?

I'm happy now!

now you can sleep well again!

no more dark circles around your eyes, because you haven't slept

because you were so excited

the stripe on your face is the light from the rear mirror

stripe? which stripe?

around your eyes

OMG

what are you doing?

fighting!

so we are back at home now!

we are back at home, that was fast!

so

I have to unbox all the stuff

oh dear. I know that

it's weekend and I will not see my boyfriend because he is busy with his new camera

yep

look at that, stuff everywhere

OMG

where is my chocolate that was here?

there was no chocolate!

I don't have it!

yes of course

Look I really like that

do we need more light?

so uncomfortable

This is what I

have chosen

you can mount the camera on top of it

like...

you can mount it on top somehow

like that?!

and then you film yourself like that

basically you extend your arm length

it is more stable too

yes, way more stable

especially when you are in the car you have more stabilization

the whole system is less shaky

we can also make a video about our camera equipment if you are interested in that

yes, how to YouTube

yes, exactly

you can do that, because I don't know much about it

except with this little thing here

my favorite gear at the moment, the GoPro 6

we bought it recently

it has a very good stabilization

before that we had the GoPro 4 right?

ye

2 of them. We didn't buy the GoPro 5

With the GoPro 6 you can film like that and you don't need stabilization for it

it is always perfectly stabilized

some of you complained that one video was shakey

because I did...

cut that out

Because I didn't use my Gimball

Gimball? How do you pronounce that?

No idea!

Gumball

3000

you film with the new camera right?

yes

this is the "old" one

let's see how we end up with that

We definately have to try the slow motion

they will be much better

okay, let's wrap up the video here. I'm tired!

Next time we see each other at Audi!

Next time we are in Ingolstadt

See you then!

Don't forget to subscribe! Ciao!

Why i started vlogging and a hitchhiking praying mantis on a BICYCLE - Duration: 18:28.

Oh it's so much fun, so much fun

Amazing! No, I'm not like that. That's not the kind of vlogger I am.

And something about myself

Hi guys. Yes, what can I say?

I am not to say to this. I talk to you on my travels.

But I thought: let's make a little video before I show my travel report.

Last year I filmed all my journeys.

I am away all the time. With the bicycle. For travel reports.

I write stories and I make photos

for magazines and newspapers. That's my job.

And I thought: let's start vlogging.

Why?Why did I start vlogging?

Later I'll show the video of Spain, it's coming! (or scroll to 9.10)

But I thought, lets tell some more about myself.

Cause I haven't done that yet. At all.

Why did I start vlogging? Good question.

Traditional media, it was really my thing.

I started studying in able to write for newspapers.

My working experience was at two newspapers: Brabants Dagblad and Haagsche Courant (The Hague).

It's called AD/Haagsche Courant now, worked for them for a while.

I really liked to hold a paper newspaper.

Where it that thing?Where is my phone?

I just wanted to say: I'm always holding my phone. Expect this moment.

Nowadays I'm totally addicted to this thing.

I was thinking: it's not going that great with the magazines...

Let's dive into the world of the vlogs.

I have to be honest: I didn't have a great impression of vlogs.

The printdino's, that's the way we, traditional journalists, call ourselves on forums.

Are a bit against new things: blogs, vlogs.

So I dove into the world of vlogs and noticed there are a lot of good vloggers.

Casey Neistat, when I start watching him I thought: wow!

He is a real filmmaker. Makes beautiful shots. And has a story to tell.

I'm still far away from that level!

I thought: just give it a try.

I could cooperate with Apple. They said: try an iPhone 7 Plus for a year.

I haven't really shown it yet. I don't get paid for it, but got the opportunity to use it for a year.

So suddenly there was a way to start vlogging.

I have got my full frame, which I am using now.

It doesn't have a flip screen though, so I won't be able to see myself. Not so handy.

I had a GoPro.

So I thought: just start.

I've put some travel videos online. Of footage I made last year.

Which I'm editing right now.

Also something very new. Editing. But ok.

You can get used to everything. In the long run.

At the beginning I thought it was super scary.

If you put something online... well, I received nice replies but also negative ones.

There are always people who like to judge.

No problem.

Constructive criticism? Great. I still have loads to learn.

I love it when people give advice.

But some people decided to tear me down.

That goes a bit far. I think.

But meanwhile I am also busy with some other things.

Vlogging brought me some new things.

That 's big fun.

I'm going to collaborate with Santos, a cycle brand.

Soon I'm going to make a vlog about this.

Apple let me use this Apple Watch for a year.

I'd like to make some videos about products I'm using.

Some people might think now: WTF, this is mega commercial.

Yes, you could say it like that. Haha, no.

No.

Magazines write reviews about bicycles, bags, camping stuff, etc.

The products are send to the editorial office. Hup, they make a review, often can keep it.

Nice. All fine.

I actually do the same but a bit bigger.

I don't try it for a night. Or a week.

That doesn't say anything.

I use it for a longer period.

I still searching. I made the travel vlogs. Quite nice I think.

Maybe not.

Maybe it is, maybe not.

You're the ones to decide.

I have also visited coffee places. With the theme: cycling.

It always has to do something with cycling. Well, it's a cycling vlog.

Loads of ideas.

I want to buy a drone.

Things such stabilizers.

So it won't be that shaky.

Sorry guys, sometimes you must get motion sickness watching my videos.

Sometimes it's all going up and down.

Yes, because of that one photographer kinda shot me down. Half. Yes, only half.

I'm learning.

Why do I put it online straight away? A lot of times I delay things, because I'm afraid to do it.

I thought: I should just do this. Hup.

I'm actually grateful for Apple. I didn't have any vlogs yet.

And they already like it to collaborate.

That's really says something, I think.

I mean...

They can collaborate with much bigger vloggers.

I wasn't even a vlogger yet.

Yes, I really like that.

Gave me a push in the back.

Okay, enough talking.

I also need more humour in my vlogs.

Really needed. Important.

Just being myself. But that's difficult.

Difficult to be yourself in front of the camera.

But that's what I really want.

One thing.

I'm not going to run around like a hyper...

Oh it's so fun, so fun, amazing. No!

I'm not that kind of vlogger.

My question to you is... that's why I'm making this vlog...

Not to talk for an hour

My question is: what would you like to see?

Do you really like the travels?

Or would you like to see the coffee hotspots? That vlog will be online soon. Things like that.

I'm experimenting. And see what you like.

I think it's super you're watching.

I just started.

You have to go through all the mistakes I make.

That part really took a long... was a bit boring.

Difficult to get through. But I hear it's getting better. You are the ones telling me.

Super you're following and watching me.

Great.

My plan is to communicate a bit more often with you. Like this.

Not just uploading videos. That's the nice thing of YouTube.

That time.

It should be uploaded the same time every week.

I tried guys. But uploading.... pfff. Such hassle for me.

That's that. Soon more. Hope ya'll keep watching.

Would love you to comment underneath, and tell me what you'd like to watch.

I am also curious if you prefer the cycling or the places I visit.

Cycling is great, but I also like to see things.

Like my colleague Robert van Weperen (writes for the Telegraaf, only about cycling) says...

I am a world cyclist in one day.

With me a circle around the church already ends up in an adventure.

Yes, I see so much, that's what I love so much about cycling. You can take the time.

Okay. Great you're here.

Now up to the last part of the Spanish cycling trip. La Rioja.

Next week... not a clue yet what I'm going to put online.

Exciting. To be continued.

Okay thanks! And if you'd like to put a thumb up, you can do that below...

And follow me. Cause I need more followers.

If you'd like to share this. Or if you know people who love cycling. For whom this could be nice.

Share it, please, that would be great!

Finding my target audience, well, that's a different story.

I'm used to sell my stories to an editor.

That mostly a big job, a task, hard work. But this is totally different. I am my own editor.

And now I'll have to find my viewers. If you'd like to help: super!

I put a lot of time in this. Why?

Especially to promote cycling. Because I'd like to try this medium, because it's fun.

And I hope I'll make loads of people happy with my vlogs!

But euros. No.

A lot of fun watching. See you next time, bye!

We just stood in that very special cathedral.

Accidentally there was someone with a key, so we could get inside.

The man who was there was part of a cultural organisation of 13 villages

who collaborate to preserve their culture. The government doesn't so anything, he said.

He sent us to this village. There is a library in an old farriery.

Very funny. It appeared to be closed.

There's no one. But it's open.

A spider.

Ghost house. It has a peculiar smell.

Loads of rocks here.

With things that are cut out, and very old towns.

And then there are wind turbines everywhere.

Very interesting combination.

Spain is doing very well with energy.

I think in Europe Spain has most wind energy per citizen.

Good job!

This is a commercial for Batavus.

This way we won't be on time for the monastery.

Well, I'm at the monastery.

I planned to be here at 4, so I would have time to visit it.

But we've seen so many special things on our way.

It's almost 6.30 pm. Still 7km to go. Dinner starts in half an hour. So I have to continue!

Eric, whom I cycled with today, asked if I could buy a beer.

I said: yes, but the monastery is closed at 6pm. But the shop was still open, so I bought a beer.

Unfortunately I can't drink it, cause I can't have gluten.

The only great absence.

So I bought some honey.

One more little climb, and then hup, hurry. I might just about make it. No shower maybe.

But it's a super beautiful day. Very nice.

I never seen one like that.

Beautiful. Big. He's probably in shock.

Maybe he had a very comfortable seat, behind your cycling bag.

Hello

Delicious after such a day full of climbing.Champaign.

Well I've done my hair.

Had a great shower.

Just thanking my bicycle.

During your work cycling with joy

Making a photo here and there, and taking it easy (easy!?)

We hope you have enjoyed this trip

And are looking forward to the photo report of this trip

Thank you very much

Here it is

The next day. It's the last day. Packed my tent.

Now I'm visiting a monastery.

I was just inside the monastery, and I thought...

I couldn't find my bicycle key. No, I didn't leave it in my bicycle, did I?

But who is going to steal a bicycle in front of the monastery?

It's a monastery of the Cathars.

At the edge of Burgos.

If you don't leave your bike key in your bicycle this is a place where you totally unwind.

Going to the center of Burgos now.

I see a very well-known sticker

My boyfriend and I cycled from The Netherlands to Santiago de Compostela a few years ago.

In France we followed these stickers.

The funny thing is: everywhere you see parts of castles. Old arches.

Here as well. You cycle along all kinds of things. New, old. All mixed up.

Really a voyage of discovery.

Outstanding. I'll come back.

With my boyfriend. Definitely.

On the bicycle.

I have to be honest. I was always really...

Against...

Don't I look strange like this?

I have to get used to this. What looks strange, and what doesn't on camera?

What did I want to say? What was I talking about?

Oh yes I remember!

Oh now I lost it again.

By the way, I'm not always wearing sport clothes.

Just so you know.

Do you like what I'm wearing?

A kind of jumpsuit.

I might want to start vlogging in English, but still in doubt.

Oh, now I'm not in focus anymore.

But that's not what I wanted to say. What did I want to say?

Oh yes, I was really a traditionalist.

I really loved print. And was really against websites, computers, etc. Modern.

Now I have turned 180 degrees.

I even navigate with my phone.

And I have this thing around my wrist.

But I actually really like it.

We live in a very interesting time.

I just got 35.

I experienced it both, the time without computers...

Well, there were computers. Commodore 64!

But no internet.

First phones didn't have internet guys. No.

You could ring with them.

And I had a buzzer, that vibrated... I wasn't allowed a phone yet.

What Dieb did before Rapalje - Rapalje Show #46 - Duration: 10:00.

This Rapalje show is about my past before Rapalje

And the beginning of Rapalje

There are some questions which you asked to me

I hope to answer all of them of course

but I can't answer all of them

And I'll show you some some real neat stuff that I used to do

Well, I started as a mucisian actually when I was 2 years old. My parents had a

piano in the house and well, as a kid, you can you get curious so you start

playing with one finger on it and well that was a bit boring after a while so you

start playing with two fingers and then use even more fingers and in the end you

seems to use ten fingers on the piano so you can do almost anything on the piano

so that's what I started and then I met someone

wou played the guitar. I thought, that's good, that's good I wanted to learn the

guitar so I learnt me to play the guitar and then we just started the

band. The band was called "April" we had well, not very many gigs but we wrote all

our songs and there there were actually good songs. It wasn't a bad band but

then, then I met Maceál and yeah, well, where were a bit bored with

pop music so we thought: folk music! because we just discovered it in the

Irish pub in Groninge. We just discovered folk music so we thought folk music

that's a good thing to do, right? Let's do that! But, well you need folk instruments

and you need to be able to play them as well. And, we didn't. Of course Maceál

played the guitar. I thought accordion, fiddle, tin whistle

And I said to Maceál, you have to play the Squeezebox. that's good because fiddle

and squeezebox that's something that goes together so very, very well

So that's actually what we did. So we we actually created a band. It was a

bit of fusion between my old band and, well, Let's say, the beginning of Rapalje. it

was called "Bates Motel" but Maceál and me, we weren't very

satisfied with the band so we kicked everyone out and well the two of us were

left over from it. so what we did is, played in bars and on

the street because Maceál had experiences as a street musician and

playing in bars and just going around with the hat and

getting a little bit of money or a lot of money so I learned later, so he said:

now, come on! let's do that! and come on just go on! he got me on a stage

somewhere in a cafe with my violin and I actually never played the

violin before. I just got it that day I rang him up and I said: I've got a violin!

He said: OK, come on, we're going to do a performance/ I said: no no I have to practice and then

he just hung up and he got to me and, well, we played and, well, that's

actually a bit how it started. so we started out as a duo on the streets and

in pubs and then it got bigger and bigger

we've got guest musicians: William was first a guest musicians. we changed our

name from "Ruk and Pluk" to "De eikeltjes aldus Ronald". We got a lot

of crazy names at that time. but then we thought something more serious. actually

it never got any more serious than Rapalje and that's not very serious

actually. but it is to us! so what we did: we went to a library and, well, went

through a lot of dictionaries searching for a good name for our future band. it

should have been something like rascals. and so we found that. because it's a very

good translation from Rascals is Rapalje and that's, Maceál found it in a

dictionary and we were cheering: well that's the name! that's what we want! so

that's the name Rapalje. came out of a dictionary. because we were looking for

, well, something more decent than "Ruk en Pluk"

I was playing so loudly on the violin that Maceál needed amplification for his

instrument so, well, I had to play even louder than that because he was

getting louder and louder: new batteries and all high-tech stuff on that. so I

thought of a trick to get my violin four times as loud as it was acoustically. and

I'm going to show you now how that's done

I do play in Rapalje, well not as much instruments as I can play

actually. I'm a very lazy person. no no, that's what I am, but that's not the

reason for it. my colleagues play a lot of instruments and I don't

want to double these instruments so my main instrument is the violin. or the

fiddle, if you wish, because it's folk music but I also play the tea-chest-bass

and sometimes the tin whistle. so when you do start a folk band. well, Maceál and me,

we thought: you have to look folky as well. I'm wearing a Polish folk

vest of something, I don't know how you call it, but it's folk, it's really

folk, but it's Polish and, actually, I started out with this but then we

thought: no no, we we need something more Celtic or Irish or

Scottish. so obviously, we went wearing kilts. but we didn't want the modern

normal kills. we wanted something more exotic with the kilts. so at that time we

looked at the film Braveheart. that was a hit at that time. yes, a long time ago, I

know. and we actually a bit of copied the

style of kilt wearing from that film. from that movie. and they actually just

made it up for that movie. it's not historically correct as far as I know

but it could have been possible. that's what we're wearing nowadays: the kilts

"Braveheart style". we call it now "Rapalje style". but we didn't want to wear a

tartan from an existing clan of the Scots because, well, as you probably know

we're from the Netherlands. and it's not a good idea it's just copy

someone else's tartan and his family name and stuff like that. so, what we

wanted to do is create our own tartan. so I made our own tartan and I thought we

can use our own colours: the colours you like. My kilt is quite brown. Maceál's

kilt this is redish. William's kilt is green. like Davis kilt is more blue. so

they chose their own colours. When I made the tartan then we all used

the same pattern on it so we got our own tartan: Rapalje clan tartan

and we actually registered it on the scottish database of Tartans. so if you

want to see that: You can look it up.

some people wonder why I wear the kilt the other way around as

my colleagues. I've got the flap on this side and the rest on this side

originally you should wear it on this side. so I'm on the wrong side here. but try to

play the violin with a flap of kilt cloth beneath it. it's not working at all

so that's why I changed it around. but later I found out it has another meaning:

the head of the clan used to wear it the other way around

so who knows? I've got a question about the length of the kills, actually well,

how its put together. normally, the length of the kilt is 10 meters of cloth. that's

the same with us, but well, you just got the dress part, let's say the dress part,

and then you've got some metres left and you just threw it over your shoulder. we

already made a video where you can see how I put it on.

"Be easy and free when you're drinking with me"

that's what we sing in the song "Jock Stuart" and you

can make a lot of great sentences from the idea of be easy and free but with me,

come on, I'm Dieb

Be easy and free when you're drinking with me. Cheers!

So here's the closet as you can see your closet is about the size of a room. It's crazy

We're not going to need to make room obviously

But you're gonna have to clean up a little bit

That was some fast clean because my version of cleaning is just pushing things to the side also

Here's some advice if you want to have your own big closet

And you want to like keep your boots standing up put pool noodles

And the boot stay standing up I think this sleeping area should be somewhere right here

Yeah, I'm just gonna like getting out a little plan

The pillow there my blankets here, I got two of them

Just in case it gets cold, and this is pretty much gonna be my bed

I put the pillow under the clothes, so just in case it's a little bit too light, darkness

That food should last me but

until the challenge starts which is a

Couple minutes, let's go and grab our entertainment stuff

Alright guys this show just like overnight challenge in the closet gonna be harder than the last one

We have a Nintendo switch eraser for the white board

and a book

the reason that's gonna be harder is because last time I had like a computer and iPad I

Think a fidget spinner and a lot of other stuff, but this time. I just don't have that stuff

I have like one electronic which

doesn't have YouTube on it

Then I have a whiteboard and a book so this is gonna be a real challenge unlike last time

The overnight challenge has officially begun, so I'm just gonna start to do a couple of things. You know just get myself ready and

Ready!

Drew a picture that says like and subscribe make sure to do so

I'm getting tired so I think I'm gonna to bed

Um whenever I wake up whether it be middle of the night in the morning. I'll see you guys then

Hi guys that was a crazy one just woke up eat my beakfast - [MEME] beakfast

It's pretty good. I

Can't leave in here till 10 a.m.. That's what time I consider like

Morning is over. And I know you're saying 24 overnight 24 hour overnight

Yeah, everyone does that it's not 24 hours, it's an overnight challenge most of them fail and aren't real

It'll be 10 o'clock and 3 - 2 - OPEN DOOR

Happy New Year's

No, but really though all right it was the pop-tarts

Right there

these two untouched

Did a little bit whiteboard stuff - like and subscribe

Nintendo Switch, didn't even touch this book. That's it for the video if you guys enjoyed

leave a like and subscribe if this video can get

15 likes yeah crazy

I will do another one in my closet another small cost and this video gets 20 likes - [CELEBRATION]

I'll do it in it can a house. That's under construction. Anyway with that being said PING-POUNG-PEACE!!!

Economic Update: Marxism's Contribution - Duration: 28:37.

Welcome friends to another edition of Economic Update a weekly program devoted

to the economic dimensions of our lives, jobs, debts, incomes, our own those looming

down the road, those of our kids I'm your host Richard Wolff, I've been a

professor of economics all my adult life and I hope that that has prepared me

well to go over these economic changes all around us as we do that each week.

Let me jump right in by giving a shout out to the city of New York where this

program is produced. The city of New York has taken remarkable steps in this last

week or so and you should know about them New York City is the first in the

nation to do what I'm about to describe two things one it has gone into court to

sue the five major oil companies in the world for lying about climate change and

fossil fuels and damaging the city of New York by doing so and the second

thing they did was to declare in New York that they are going to divest the

city's pension funds by getting rid of selling five billion dollars worth of

the shares of those fossil fuel companies that they are also suing by

the way the New York City pension fund which has a hundred and eighty nine

billion dollars in it is invested in 190 fossil fuel companies whose shares they

are going to sell well let's first mention who the companies are so we all

know them BP or British Petroleum, Chevron, Conoco, Phillips,

Exxon, Mobil, and Royal Dutch Shell they are being sued for billions and what is

the point well nothing says it better than to read the statement of Mayor Bill

DeBlasio when he announced these steps taken by the city of New York

I quote New York City is standing up for future generations by becoming the first

major US city to divest our pension funds from fossil fuels at the same time

we're bringing the fight against climate change straight to the fossil fuel

companies that knew about its effects and intentionally misled the public to

protect their profits as climate change continues to worsen it's up to the

fossil fuel companies whose greed to put us in this position

to shoulder the cost of making New York safer and more resilient here's what

they plan to use the money for that they get from suing the oil companies for

damaging New York they want to repair all the facilities that have been

damaged by higher temperatures by higher levels of seawater by the storms like

sandy and others that were generated by the climate changes caused by fossil

fuel burning over all these years they want to make New York City resilient

they want to protect it from the consequences in the future of the damage

to the climate already done here is a city proactively moving to deal with

this problem not another conference not another report

not another well-meaning meeting of politicians to say they are concerned

and for heaven's sake not another meeting with these companies hearing

about how committed they are to doing something which the city of New York has

now shouted them out for not doing at all this is action taken by people at

the local level when the state and federal levels have let us down in this

area so badly my next update has to do with consumer debt in the United States

it has been rising very very fast since 2013 indeed to the degree that

there's been a so-called recovery in our economy and that's wildly exaggerated as

I try to point out nearly every week but to the degree that there's been some

recovery it has been highly dependent once again on debt on the rapidly rising

debt since 2013 which is about when this recovery is said to have gotten underway

which means that the well-being of the American economy to whatever degree it

has been reproduced has become again debt dependent it now the totaled

consumer debt exceeds its previous high in 2008 just when our economy crashed

let me say that to you again that total consumer debt just went over at the end

of 2017 just went over where it was when the economy crashed in 2018

now it is true that there is less outstanding credit per family now than

there was then even though the total of credit is larger we do have more

families than we did 10 years ago in this country but most of the reason that

the debt per family is lower is not because families haven't taken on too

much debt they have but it's because we wiped out the debt of the most indebted

they were declared bankrupt and got out of being counted in that way and so

they're not there and so the overall results look a little bit better because

we're not counting the worst of them but the bottom line is and this has been

documented particularly by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York that we now

have fast rising consumer debt it's rising most quickly for credit cards

secondly for auto loans, third for student loans, and finally for

mortgages, since Americans can't buy houses the way they once did, the mortgage

indebtedness isn't going up as fast as the other forms, but Americans are

relying on debt at a rising accelerating rate and given what that meant 10 years

ago it would be foolish not to understand that this is an important

economic reality now the third economic update takes us

back to Greece what is happening in Greece as always is important on this

program because it is an advance notice of what is happening elsewhere in Europe

what will be happening in those parts of Europe where it hasn't happened before

and likewise for the United States that's why we talk about your Greece so

what has happened to Greece now well once again there are massive

strikes and demonstrations across that little country you might be astonished

as I was to read, that since the crash of 2008, 2008

there have been count them no less than 50 general strikes in Greece the people

have been active in that country desperately trying to stop something

what wage cuts service cuts that is public services cuts in their pension

selling off state property to both domestic and foreign corporations and

auctioning off the property of those whose debts were so big that they'd had

to basically fold the tent and sell off everything that they owned the damage

done to the well-being of the Greek household and family is staggering it

exceeds anything that has happened elsewhere in Europe to date the latest

strikes are about the latest action and the latest action tells a big story the

latest action is a law like all these laws imposed on the

Greeks by the Europeans as a condition for getting the loans without we which

Greece could not continue as a society in other words they've made the Greeks

dependent on foreign loans and the foreign loans will not be given unless

the Greeks take the steps that the European Community the European Central

Bank the European Commission and so on the IMF impose on them the latest one is

to increase the number of people in a union that have to vote in favor of a

strike before you can have a legal strike okay it doesn't take genius to

understand that every single step imposed on the Greeks since the crash of

2008 have increased the power and wealth of the rich at the expense of the mass

of people increased the power of capital and diminished the power of labour every

single one what is going on here is a foretaste of what's to come

the Greek business community wasn't strong enough to get these things done

the mass of the Greek people organised in communist socialist parties and in

very powerful trade unions simply made it impossible for the Greek capitalists

to impose this kind of austerity on the Greek people it had to be done by

something more powerful than the Greek capitalist class and so it was the

entire European capitalist class organized into the IMF the European

Union and the European Central Bank together bailed Greece out of the crisis

with loans made Greece dependent on these loans because they did not have a

what a crisis inside Greece the mental change of the Greek economy

to try to rebuild it on a better footing no no no they didn't do any of that

instead they solved the problem by borrowing from the Europeans who lent to

them knowing full well that by making them dependent on European loans the

Europeans could dictate the conditions for doling out bits and pieces of these

loans and the conditions were to reorganize the Greek economy not to go

beyond the capitalism but to go backwards to a harsher and more unequal

capitalism far beyond what the Greek capitalists could ever have imposed on

the Greek people so now the Greek capitalists can sit there saying our

hands are tied it's those Europeans without whom we can

survive who are insisting that we do that and who's doing it in Greece is

just as important as what's being done the who is the syriza party the syriza

party is a left-wing party it prided itself on being more left-wing than the

old Greek Socialist Party had been before it and here's what that means

that the word socialist the meaning of socialist the meaning of left-wing is

being transformed in Greece it's no longer a political movement that stands

against capitalism it's no longer a political movement that is a criticism

of capitalism is an advocacy of a fundamentally different system the

Socialists have become the party that Institute's what the capitalist wants

that makes it happen when the old parties can't do the job anymore because

they've lost the support of the people income someone who says I can do a

different and better job cashing in on what socialism used to mean getting into

power and then turning out in the most cynical way you could imagine to be more

of the same old same old mamie maybe

even worse the reason this is important to understand is that it's a harbinger

of what is scheduled for the rest of Europe and North America as capitalism

shifts its ascendancy to Asia particularly to China and that makes

that the growing Society what it's leaving behind is the West and as the

West has to constrict itself the question is who gets constricted the 10%

at the top or everybody else and you know the answer before I tell you the

name of the game of those at the top is to make sure that the adjustment to a

declining Western capitalism is foisted off on the rest of the people

Greece is leading the way and that's why it's important to pay attention. Before I

go on with the remaining economic updates, let me remind you, as I often do,

we maintain two websites, and they are available for your use. They are

available without charge, and they're available 24 hours, seven days a week.

The first one is democracyatwork, that's all one word, democracyatwork.info

and the second one is rdwolff with two Fs dot com. Both of these websites

allow you to communicate to us what you like and don't like about the program,

what you'd like to see us do. Make use of it. Both websites allow you to follow us

with a click of your mouse on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, both websites provide

you with material you can use and share with other people, with a complete

archive of these programs, for example so make use of these websites partner with

us be part of the process of bringing this information and these kinds of

analysis to the people who need them, your friends, your relatives, your

co-workers that's part of what this project is all about, and let me say a

word to those of you that listen to this program on the radio,

if you would like to see the television version, because we do this

simultaneously radio and TV, is an easy way for you to look at the television

program anytime you want, you go to a website called patreon.com,

P-A-T-R-E-O-N, patreon.com/economicupdate, that's the name of the program

and you can see this program anytime you like in that way. So let me return then

to our updates the next update has to do with a british corporation

Carillion, i hope is the right spelling Carillion corporation. It's a 200 year

old company employs 43,000 workers that makes it a very big company out of those

43,000 20,000 little less than half are in the United Kingdom that company has

in fact collapsed it has been negotiating for bankruptcy compulsory

liquidation was announced on January 15th it may survive still there are

negotiations but there's some important lesson in this collapse of a huge

private construction company first the United Kingdom government had employed

Carillion on 450 projects including the construction and maintenance of

hospitals of schools of prisons of defense sites and of high-speed railways

the government uses tax money to make all these contracts with Carillion

corporation now the government has promised to pay the salaries of many of

these workers while they work out the financial collapse of this company all

kinds of other companies that provided services and inputs to Carillion are being

damaged by the collapse of this large corporation. Why am I telling you this?

The answer is for years we've been hearing that outsourcing activities that

the government used to do the government itself used to build or at least run

schools and prisons and defense sites and railways in England

these are outsourced we were told that turning these over to private

enterprises would give us a much more efficient production of these sorts of

things and is the logical thing to do everybody knows if we heard all this we

hear it in the United States just the same

well turns out it isn't so it turns out that one of the biggest beneficiaries of

outsourcing to the private sector what the British government does has been a

disaster this company has failed this company is leaving tens of thousands of

people without work thousands of companies without revenue it is a

disaster for all of England and listen now as I quote to you what to observers

of it all have to say the first is the Institute of Directors directors of

companies these are the people that are the kind of people that ran that

corporation it has issued quote a stinging rebuke to Carrillion's top

executives and directors. Wow! Roger Barker, head of corporate governance at

the Institute of Directors, was particularly alarmed that the company

changed its bonus rules to protect top bosses. Turns out that over the last year

as they were going down into collapse they gave themselves big bonuses these

directors oh goodness maybe nobody thought about what it might

mean if you outsource government activity to private enterprise that the

private enterprise are just as capable of taking care of themselves at public

expense as any politicians ever proved themselves

to be. Well if you didn't think about it, you can think about it now

and here's another comment Meg Hillier chairwoman of the parliamentary Public

Accounts Committee fears that taxpayers face quote a raw deal from this collapse

here's what she says trillions collapse raises grave

questions about jobs the delivery of public services and the way government

conducts its business we as a committee have previously warned of the risks when

contractors paid from the public purse become too big to fail they get a pass

they get too much money they mess up why am I telling you this

is it because I want you to believe that private isn't good and government is as

the way to do business and the answer is no that's not what I'm doing

liberals do that I'm no liberal I'm not here to tell you have the private do it

it's better than the public cuz that's silly but I'm equally aghast at people

who say no don't have the private do it have the public do it because putting a

bureaucracy of politics in charge is about as smart as putting a bureaucracy

that's private in charge which is what you do when you outsource it to big

private corporations. The solution to these problems is not to have vertical

controlled companies neither public nor private the solution to this kind of

failure and corruption is to have many people involved in deciding what happens

in a company not a few and that there are, also make sure that there are

people to sound the alarm when things aren't going well and to make sure that

as things go badly we haven't got a handful of people taking care of

themselves at the top while everybody else suffers and the problem gets worse

which is what happens either publicly or privately

let's not once again go from the public to the private followed by the private

to the public we've been back and forth this way for decades and it doesn't

solve the problem that's what the Carillion

collapse teaches us one more time my last update for today is a little different

but it raises so important a question that I wanted to leave the time to

develop it with you for a little bit it has to do with an action taken by the

CVS Pharmacy Corporation one of the largest drugstore chains in the United

States may indeed by now be the largest one I haven't kept track there's only

three or four and it's one of the largest ones for sure CVS was in the

news this last week by telling us something they are no longer they said

going to be touching up the photographs of women wearing beauty products on

their facial on their faces and so on turns out they touch these things up to

make these women look unnaturally flawless in terms of their skin and just

so with their eyebrows their hair you know you really do know what I'm talking

about they're not gonna do that they've had so much protest particularly from

women that they're not going to be touching up their advertising now let's

talk about touching up advertising why would you do that

in the first place why would you take a picture remember the pictures that are

taken are taken mostly of models models are unusually attractive beautiful

whatever words you want that's why they're chosen that's why they're models

so now you have an exceptionally beautiful model of something male-female

doesn't really matter why would you then touch it up why isn't it sufficient that

you found a beautiful example of whatever it is you're looking for here

comes the answer and if it offends you then you are offended by the way this

system works this advertising is not about celebrating beauty

and it surely is not about making beautiful more beautiful advertising

let's remind ourselves has a simple basic function to sell more stuff the

advertiser is a producer of something and that producer wants to sell more of

it and the way you do that is you advertise the product how do you get

beauty products to be sold more to be purchased for example by women or men

for that example here's how you do it you create an image of beauty that is

precisely beyond what a human being can produce flawless skin perfectly shaped

eyebrows unbelievably fluffy hair or whatever else it is you make it more by

touching it up in the picture then any human can achieve and then you make a

none-too-subtle appeal look you say to the individual buyer you fall short of

this you're not as beautiful as you could be and you should be but there's a

way to solve the problem we've just created for you by our product by this

beauty object product this cream this lotion this spray it will overcome how

bad we've made you feel by creating an image of beauty no human being ever

achieved this is a cruelty every woman who has reflected on growing up as a

young lady knows about anxieties about are you pretty enough are you beautiful

enough are you attractive enough men also increasingly go through this it's

important to understand you're not going through it because it's normal to

adolescence or puberty it isn't that's normal to capitalism a system that

systematically will use anything and everything in your psychology to play on

it to get you to buy more stuff if it means

suggesting you're not pretty enough or beautiful enough or good-looking enough

or thin enough or whatever it is that's will be done you'll be made to feel bad

about some dimension of yourself so that you will buy whatever that seller is

selling capitalism needs to make money by selling and advertising is its way

and the social consequences have always been awful yes it's nice that CVS is

going to be doing less touch-up on its beauty products but that's a tiny

fraction of what the problem of advertising has been and continues to be

we need to understand that if we're ever going to get out of a society that puts

that kind of cruelty out there as a matter of course every day we've come to

the end of the first half of economic update thank you so much for being part

of it please stay with us after a short interlude we will be right back

you

An Introduction to Roller Coasters - Duration: 6:14.

Roller coasters can be found around the globe,

providing their riders with thrills and memories to enjoy.

Our love of roller coaster stems from our thirst for adrenaline, the desire to travel

at high speeds in an apparently uncontrollable manor.

Once the ride starts, there's no going back.

Your heart begins to race, adrenaline fills your body, and you begin to enjoy the fantastic

experience.

On face value, roller coasters can seem like simple machines designed for a specific purpose.

But taking a closer look, there's much more to these theme park attractions than what

you'd initially think.

Therefore, in this video we'll take an indepth look into the world of roller coasters, and

learn more about their types, styles and ride experiences.

In principal, roller coasters consist of two main components: the track, and the train.

The track remains static during the ride, while the train navigates the track, speeding

through the twists and turns.

As the train flies through the roller coasters layout, it remains stuck to the track.

Each train uses multiple sets of wheels, which surround the tracks rails, to do this.

These wheels can be found below, above, and to the side of the rail, keeping the train

stuck to the track at all times.

For a roller coaster to be classified as a roller coaster, it requires these two simple

track and train components, and must operate under the effect of gravity.

With many rides, the trains are pulled up to a great height, before being released down

a sudden drop.

At this point, the cars in which riders are seated are under the effect of gravity.

This means that even though the trains themselves aren't powered, they gain speed from plummeting

towards the ground.

Once the first drop is over, riders often climb to a great height once again, and therefore

lose speed.

This balancing act of energy is what provides the thrills on many of the world's roller

coasters.

There are, of course, exceptions to this.

Some roller coasters use launches to propel rides to huge speeds, giving the trains enough

energy to navigate the track.

While other roller coasters are powered, through the use motors embedded within the trains,

allowing them to climb hills during the ride.

Once the trains, and riders, have gained significant energy, they are released and undergo a mixture

of twists, turns and inversions.

The track is shaped in specific ways to produce certain sensations on the bodies of riders.

For example, a vertical loop produces force on riders as they navigate the shaped track,

causing them to be pushed into the trains seat.

Other elements, such as the camelback, produce a weightless sensation as the trains climb

over the crest of a large hill.

Different roller coasters utalise a mixture of track shapes to provide unique and tailored

experiences.

By applying this logic, theme parks can design roller coasters for specific target markets.

For example, a roller coaster with sharp turns and sudden drops has been designed for the

thrill seekers, people looking their next big adrenaline rush.

While a ride featuring gradial descents and casual curves has been designed for families

and children, a target audience seeking a more tame attraction.

Often the size and scale of the roller coaster is a telltale sign of its target audience.

Family rides are generally smaller, and slower, than their thrilling counterparts.

Not only can the shape of the track change the ride experience, but so to can the material

used to construct the attraction.

Roller coasters can be built using either wood, steel, or a mixture of the two.

Older roller coasters were often constructed from wood, in which a timber frame was made

to support the ride's track.

However, newer roller coasters often utilise a steel track, allowing for riders to navigate

a mixture of more complicated elements.

Generally, wooden coasters offer a more chaotic and volatile ride experience, while steel

rides often feel more controlled throughout the journey.

Besides the clear distinction between wooden and steel track, different roller coasters

feature track that has been designed from a unique combination of shapes.

Roller coasters are in fact manufactured by a whole range of companies, each of which

utilise their own production methods.

As a result, the producer of the attraction can also drastically affect the ride experience.

During the construction of a new roller coaster, a Theme Park will purchase an attraction from

a specific amusement ride manufacturer.

Each manufacturer can offer a unique selection of rides, fit for the purposes of the park.

Different producers also design their trains in an original way by altering the cars seating

arrangement.

For example, some rides utilise trains which seat riders below the track, like Nemesis

at Alton Towers; while others seat riders above the track, as seen on Maverick, at Cedar

Point.

These differences can be found between amusement ride companies, making it easier to distinguish

a specific type of roller coaster, as well as its manufacturer.

With every roller coaster, no matter the manufacturer, material, or design; safety is top priority.

Amusement park attractions feature highly advanced computer systems, capable of motoring

the entire ride in real time.

On top of this, roller coasters are inspected and tested daily.

These high standards have made roller coasters, and theme parks in general, one of the safest

and most popular forms of recreational activities.

<RM is sad because he couldn't untie his necktie> RM: You know this...

RM: I changed it several times thinking "How should I take it off, how should I wear it"

RM: I should have shown up while untie the necktie

The One Footed Peacock - Duration: 11:20.

Hi I'm Mike.

The cold can be killer here in Wyoming, and we are now faced with what could be a life

and death decision for our peacock all due to subzero temperatures and a massive amount

of frostbite on Our Wyoming Life.

Hi and thanks for joining me today on Our Wyoming Life as we explore the ranch life

and escape the ordinary.

Today is all about the peacock and his current and very severe injury.

If this is your first time here, thanks for coming along for the ride and please subscribe.

We have 3 videos a week bringing you everything from the ranch, the cows, the gardens, ranch

style cooking and a whole lot more.

This is the peacock, he has been here on the ranch for the last 5 years or so.

He doesn't have a name, and now is probably not the time to name him, because we don't

know how much time he has left.

We will get to all that, but first, let me tell you his story.

A few years ago, when we first came to the ranch, the first animals that Erin wanted

to start raising on her own were chickens.

It made sense, she was getting started in the farmers market game and eggs always sold

well at farmers market.

So, we got chickens, I built a nice new chicken house for them.

And the chicken project cruised right along, we sold a ton of eggs.

And soon Erin wanted to expand her bird inventory, so we got ducks and geese, most of whom are

still on the ranch today, but one thing Erin always wanted was

a peacock.

{Erin talks about peacocks} One day, we

got a call and found out that one of our local sheriff's deputies had picked up a peacock

wandering down the ditch along a local highway.

He took it to the animal shelter and once Erin heard about it, we had a peacock.

One lonely peacock, soon we decided he needed a mate and we found a female from nearby in

South Dakota and brought her into the fold and since then they have lived happily ever

after.

Doing their thing, helping Erin garden and just being a part of

the ranch.

They are very curious and as most visitors to the ranch will tell you, that they seem

to be checking out what you are doing every time you turn around.

Male peacocks, much to my surprise are great watch dogs.

They protect the rest of the flock, the chickens and the ducks and geese from predators as

well as letting us know when ever anybody pulls into the yard, by squawking and making

all kinds of racket.

But now our male peacock is faced with a life-threatening dilemma.

This winter has been extremely cold and a couple of weeks ago we found that he had frost

bite on one of his feet, we called the vet and went back and forth and it was determined

that he was probably going to lose his foot.

He's been hobbling around for the last couple of weeks and we put him in the barn where

he couldn't injure himself any more.

The vet was correct and his food did fall off, since then his stub has healed nicely.

Its amazing how quickly birds heal but now we are left with a huge decision.

A peacock like him can live up to 25 years, so the question is all about quality of life.

He can't walk well due to the difference in the length of his legs but other than that

he is perfectly healthy.

His tail feathers are growing nicely, he's obviously eating well and has the energy and

strength to get around, even on one leg.

Every day of our lives is spent with and around animals, you build a rapport and a relationship

with them that you can't find anywhere else.

And to be perfectly honest, when you wife and kids are crying because an animal might

have to be put down, it becomes a mission to do your best to save it.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not a huge bird guy.

I tolerate the chickens, the ducks and geese are nice to look although noisy and messy,

but just like Erin, I've gotten used to having the male peacock around.

He makes you smile when you catch him fanning out his feathers trying to impress his girlfriend,

or whoever might be watching.

So, I guess I can say that I have a stake in keeping him alive and happy as well.

Right now, he's not too happy, I can't imagine, he has trouble getting around and

one of the biggest problems that I have seen him having is the fact that he can't perch

on anything with only one leg.

Peacocks love to be up off the ground, they like to sit on fence posts, tractors, the

gator, whatever they can to get up and look down on their domain.

They are kind of prima donnas in that aspect of their lives.

Looking down on us lowly ground walkers.

Most people that encounter the peacock, there aren't a whole lot of them running around

Wyoming, don't realize that he can fly.

And he can fly just like any other bird.

One of his favorite places to hang out this summer was up on my Mother-in- Laws roof as

her house was being built some 20 feet off the ground.

So, because he can't roost with just one leg, our first mission today is to built him

a new platform that he can roost on.

While he's been living in the barn he's been trying to sit up on the rail fence, but

he loses his balance and even if he does manage to get up there, he doesn't stay for long.

Our plan is to make him a small platform that can slip over the fence, giving him a big

enough area to sit and allow his tail feathers to drape over and flow free.

We start by taking just a few 2x4s and a 2x6, and cutting them to size.

That's if I can find my tape measure.

Ok, there we go and we are off and running, cutting the 2x4s to make a sleeve that will

slip over the rail of the fence in the barn and the 2x6 to sit over the top.

With our lumber cut we can drill pilot holes to keep the screws from splitting the wood

and then screw them together, before taking the assembly out to the barn to check the

fit.

Then its back into the shop to measure and screw in the top platform and the cap to the

roost.

Erin picked up a small bath rug to glue to the top to give him something to grip with

the foot he has left and with some spray adhesive and with the help of my 170lbs I can try to

get it to stick on here.

Without falling on my face.

Just to be safe, we are also going to staple the rug down to the platform, just to make

sure its not going to go anywhere.

Once dry we can set it back on the fence, then its time to gather up old hop along and

set him on his new roost.

He's very friendly but through this ordeal, I think he's gotten a bit tired of people

messing with him and he not much for this game anymore.

But he's still pretty docile and we can try to set him on his new perch.

Which doesn't work, and I get yelled at for.

How rude.

Lets rethink this and add some food to the perch, scooping him up again, showing him

his perch and the food on it and comforting him, telling him its not going to hurt him.

Call me DR Doolittle because this time he takes a rest.

Laying down and relaxing a bit, way up high where he likes to be, giving him a bowl of

water and a bit of his normal life back.

But when it all comes down to it, his live is never going to be normal.

He's tame, he's friendly and on a ranch, that counts for a lot.

I think some animals figure out that if they act like your buddy they can get away with

a lot more, we've got cows that do it, and even chickens and those animals always hold

a special place in a rancher's life.

We don't know what we can do with him, but maybe you do.

Comment below if you have any ideas and head on over to our website and sign up for the

herd report, our weekly newsletter and you can stay up to date on what's going with

Mr. Peacock.

We really hope that there is a solution out there for the peacock, but in the end, we

often have to make unpopular decisions.

We don't want any animal on the ranch to have a diminished quality of life, ranchers

and farmers are not only stewards of the land but also the animals and any time an animal

is taken under our care we promise to do right by them through all phases of their lives,

even the end.

For now, we wait and see, but soon a decision will probably have to be made, but lets at

least sleep on it.

Come join us again as we explore the ranch life 3 times a week, follow us on Facebook

and be sure to sign up for the herd report for material you can't find anywhere else

on our website at www.ourwyominglife.com.

Until next time, have some great week and thanks for joining us, in our Wyoming life.

SHOULD SUPERHERO MOVIES BE NOMINATED FOR OSCARS? - Duration: 4:43.

So with the Oscar nominations coming out recently there was a lot of talk about Logan getting

nominated for best adapted screenplay and Wonder Woman getting totally shut out of the

awards.

And it brought up a conversation that's been happening for a while, should superhero

movies get nominated for oscars?

And no I'm not talking sound design or visual effects or any of the technical categories,

cuz visual effects at least is generally filled with the big blockbusters.

I mean the higher up awards like actor, director and best picture.

Sure this has happened a few times before, with superhero movies and just big blockbusters,

but in general they're kind of locked out of the higher up awards.

From the Dark Knight to Deadpool to this year with these two, nothing.

And now that the best picture category can have up to 10 slots, people are thinking that

these are just left out because of the fact that they're big superhero movies.

Now I think Logan getting a screenplay nom is a step in the right direction for these

films, cuz that's actually a pretty big category.

And I think it's a sign of things potentially changing a little.

The important thing to keep in mind with these is in my opinion not if it's a prestigious

Oscar movie or a superhero movie but just if it's one of the best films of the year.

It's pretty simple, but the problem is now that that gets very subjective.

So yeah, this is the my opinion part of the video, but I'm gonna talk about Wonder Woman.

Again.

My take on Wonder Woman is that it's a very fun superhero movie, it's got two charismatic

leads, and the thing that sets it apart is that it's a big progressive step for women

in movies, both in front of and behind the camera.

That's great for the industry, but as a movie, it's just pretty good.

Again, you don't have to agree with me, but I don't think it's any better than

Guardians 2 or really most of the MCU movies that come out.

If it wasn't a big cultural moment and we're just looking at it as a movie, I think it's

totally on the level of these.

And if you compare Wonder Woman to movies like The Revenant, or Spotlight, or any number

of movies that are usually at the Oscars, not in terms of genre or anything, simply

in terms of quality, subjectively it's not even close.

So really I think it comes down to, yes, superhero movies should be eligible to get big Oscars,

they just have to be THAT good, and they have to reach a certain level above fun.

It can be really fun, but it should also have something more, it should really have something

to say and have more complicated themes and just be very well made.

Is The Avengers one of my favorite movies of all time, yeah, should it have been nominated

for best picture, I don't think so.

Is it the best made movie of 2012, does it have the deepest characters and layers of

subtext, no.

It's my favorite and it's super fun, but I don't think it's worthy of Best Picture.

And the same would go for Wonder Woman and even Deadpool.

They're very fun, but I don't think they're excellent films on that level.

I think that should be reserved for stuff that is just very well made on almost every

level, and I'd argue something like Logantotally is.

So yeah, including genre films when they deserve it I think is a step in the right direction,

and that appears to be happening with Mad Max Fury Road and even this year with a horror

film like Get Out.

If it's at that Best Picture level of quality, then who cares what genre it's in, recognize

it!

Same goes for actor, and also this is a slight complaint against the Oscars having favorites.

I get this isn't how the Oscars work, but sometimes it feels kind of like they've

already planned to nominate an actor or actress before the film's come out.

I'm sure Meryl Streep and Daniel Day Lewis are wonderful in those movies, I haven't

seen them yet, but I feel it kind of just seems like an obligatory pick.

Hugh Jackman gave us an amazing, layered and career defining performance, and I think it

absolutley would've stacked up to the others in that category.

And that's not even mentioning people like James Mangold and Patrick Stewart.

Some people might say, oh if Logan can't get nominated for best picture, no superhero

movie can.

But I don't think that's the mentality.

I think this is slowly opening up the door for superhero movies, if they are in fact

very well made, to be considered for the bigger prizes.

And then again do the Oscars really matter that much?

There have been so many snubs and mess ups over the years, so if you're starting to

take the Oscars too seriously, just remember that the Boss Baby has more oscar nominations

than the Shining, and Suicide Squad has more Oscar wins than The Shawshank Redemption.

So those were my thoughts on superhero movies and the Oscars.

What did you think of this?

Let me know all of your thoughts down below in the comments.
