Waching daily Apr 1 2018

So if you remember last months video I showed 3 boxes that had come in on the first day

of the month and you'd have to wait until March's video to see what they were.

Well, here we go.

This first package is from Haze Anderson.

It's covered in duct tape.

If LGR's pet peeve is packing peanuts, then I'd have to say my pet peeve is covering

a package in duct tape like Fort Knox.

The real issue, is like in this case, I can't actually figure out where to cut.

Nevertheless, I did eventually get it open.

Ah ha!

So, what this is is one of those 2-XL robots that use 8-track tapes.

I've seen these featured on several youtube channels before, I think these came out in

the 1970s.

Looks like it also came with a few tapes as well.

The thing is, I'm told this one doesn't work, so I'm going to attempt to repair

it in a future episode.

Very cool.

This should be interesting!

Thank you Haze!

The next package, and this was also received on the 1st of the month, is from Evan Clanin.

And here's a note.

Looks like something to do with an EPROM.

Ahh.. so what we have here is not just an EPROM, but an actual programmer as well.

Well, this will be nice if I can get it to work.

I actually bought a cheap EPROM programmer on eBay years ago but never could really get

it to work.

This one looks a lot nicer.

Hopefully I'll have better luck, thank you Evan!

And this is the last of those 3 packages I got in on the first of the month.

This is from Steven Pasikowski.

And we have a little note here, apparently this is an odd piece of hardware.

Interesting.

HAWS automatic weather station.

Ahh.. for the VIC-20 or Commodore 64 computers.

Unfortunately, it looks like this floppy disk has seen better days.

It looks like some kind of oil or something was spilled on it.

It seems to have permeated through the entire disk.

Here's the label.

Anyway, this is the actual weather station.

And it looks like it plugs into the user port on the VIC-20 or 64.

This is really cool.

If anyone has a copy of the software, let me know, as I can't find it online.

And a big thanks to Steve.

Next up we have a package from Scott Rubin.

It appears to be a bunch of original game disks for the Commodore 64.

There's quite a few here.

I'm familiar with some of these.

Ahh..

But this is the most interesting, a word processor for the Commodore 128 in 80-column mode.

OK, well, thank you Scott!

Here we have another little box, this one is from Ed Hurtley.

These appear to be Intellivision games.

Ahh.. but this one is the most interesting because it actually supports the voice synthesis

cartridge, which not many games did.

So yeah, I'll be interested to try this out.

Thank you Ed!

Next we have a little package here from….

Allmacs?

Ahh looks like a magazine.

And here's a note.

Ah yes, this is from Michael.

I remember this conversation.

So this is the first ever issue of a magazine devoted just to the IBM PCjr.

This should help with the upcoming documentary I'm working on for the PCJr.

Looks like this came out in 1984.

When I first opened it, I saw this advertisement for AST.

I used to work for AST back in the 90s, so thats cool.

And here's an ad for the old Amdek monitors.

I used to have one of these back in the 80s and it was the sharpest CRT I ever had during

that time.

Cool, thank you Michael.

OK, here's the next one.

This is from Shawn Ravenwolf.

That's a cool last name.

But I should mention that my last name is not Murphy, although I've certainly been

called that hundreds of times in my life, so this isn't the first.

Well, the instructions say to open here, so I guess I will open it there.

OK, this is really odd.

So it appears to wrapped in those air pocket things, but there's not actually any air

in them.

So, that's really bizarre.

Despite that, it appears to have arrived intact.

So this is a Casio PT-180, which is one I've wanted for a while.

I do remember the conversation with Shawn, though, and I understand this one doesn't

work.

So I may need to do some repairs on it.

And what do we have here?

Ok, this is a ROM pack, and that goes right in there.

All right, well, I look forward to getting this working.

Thank you Shawn!

Here's a little package form Andrew Koebbe.

If that name sounds familiar it's because he donated an Atari Lynx to me a few months

ago.

And here's a note.

Looks like he's sending me another lynx game.

Here it is, Batman returns.

OK, thank you Andrew!

Next we have another little Fort Knox style box.

I'm not actually sure who this is from.

Interesting, it's been X-Rayed according to the post office.

Haha..

The 8-Bit Guy.

Yeah, Okay these are a bunch of cassette games for the Sinclair Spectrum.

I may be able to use these on my Timex model eventually after some mods.

Anyway, I think I remember this conversation but I wasn't able to find the email about

them, so thanks goes out to whomever sent these.

Next is a box from Stuart Chiplin at Koch Media.

Again, there's instructions to open this end.

I love the 8-Bit font.

And inside is…

You may have already guess, a C64 Mini.

No need to go into any great detail on this as I actually released the review video on

this nifty device a few days ago.

So big thanks to Stuart for sending me this.

All right, next we have not one, but two boxes from Ted Munk.

Well, I'll start with this one.

Interesting, here's a note that looks like it was done on a real typewriter.

OK, so he's sent me some Tandy disk drives.

Of course, these aren't just any old disk drives, these are the portable drives for

the Tandy portable line of computers like the Model 100 and 200.

Hmm.

I can't seem to get the travel protector out.

Well, I don't want to break it, so I'll just leave it in there for now.

Looks like he sent some software too.

And he sent the cables.

These are actually harder to find than the disk drives themselves.

And there's one more little thing in here, a Compumate BASIC cartridge.. neat, we'll

come back to this in a minute.

So the other box contains apparently another disk drive, but this one is in the original

box.

Cool, I don't think I've ever seen the box for one of these before.

And inside is another drive.

And let's see if the protector will eject.

OK, good, this one comes out.

Well, hopefully I can get one of these working.

So, I dug out my old Laser compumate because I wanted to try out that BASIC cartridge.

I only have two units that didn't include BASIC in ROM and I wasn't even aware they

could run BASIC.

So this will be interesting to try out.

I did a whole video on these before, so if you haven't seen that, go check it out.

Looks like the cartridge goes in here.

I figured I wouldn't likely be showing these again any time soon, so now would be the best

time to try this cartridge out.

OK, so let's fire this thing up.

Well, this is the usual list of programs it has built in.

But looky there, it has BASIC in the menu now.

Let's try it.

Well, there we go.

I'm not going to code anything right now, but the cartridge clearly works.

I thought I'd also try it on this compumate 1.

It has far less RAM and a smaller screen, so I'd be surprised if it works on this

too.

However, it looks like the cartridge will in fact fit.

Yep, like a glove.

Well, let's fire this one up.

It only shows to have 3 options, just like before.

But, if I scroll through, sure enough, there is BASIC.

And trying it out, it does appear to work here as well.

Very cool, I had no idea this machine could run BASIC.

Neat, well, thank you Ted!

Up next I have a mysterious box from Japan.

This appears to be a company name.

I don't recall ordering anything from Japan lately.

The customs section just says"GAME," not very descriptive.

Well, let's open it up and see what this game is.

Oh, look at that.

Somebody sent me a game cartridge for the Commodore MAX.

Now, while I don't have a MAX to play it in, in theory it should work on the Commodore

64.

I think there's something else in the box.

Ummm..

This kind of looks like.

Surely not.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but this looks like an actual Commodore MAX machine.

I can see the Commodore logo through the packing material.

Wow..

Sure enough.

I never thought I would actually see one of these in person, much less own one.

It's in pretty decent condition too!

There's no power supply included, but I should be able to use a regular C64 power

supply.

A few days later I found out this package actually was donated by Todd from Maryland,

but he had it drop shipped from Japan.

So that explains the mysterious label situation.

Here's the serial number, I am not sure how many of these were made.

All right, well, I'm sure you'll be seeing this again in a future video, so no need to

spend a huge amount of time on it here.

And a big thanks goes out to Todd for this amazing donation!

OK, let's have a look at this next box.

This is from, The Head Museum?

How odd.

Looks like they've included a note.

Looks like they have sent me a wax head replica of a famous programmer.

I'm almost afraid to look.

Wow, that is really realistic looking.

Unfortunately, I don't recognize the face at this point.

Next I have a little box from Protovision.

I wouldn't so much call this a donation as I did actually request this to be sent

to me, but since Protovision sent it to me for free, I guess it counts as a donation,

so I'll show it.

Wow, that's quite a few little provision advertisements.

Anyway, so this is the main attraction here, Sam's Journey.

It seems this is the most celebrated Commodore 64 game in years and I can't wait to try

this out!

Now, this is the North American release, so it works on NTSC machines and comes on floppy

disk.

I believe the European version comes on a cartridge.

And look it comes with a little treasure chest.

And some kind of cards.

And here's the floppy disk.. no two floppy disks.

And it looks like both sides of the disks are used, so I guess this means there will

be some disk swapping.

THere's a really interesting technical reason for the difference in this version vs. the

one for Europe, which I will be getting into in the very next episode.

So a big thanks to Protovision for sending me this!

All right, next up I have a package from Chris Lozaga.

I'm starting to get used to seeing his name show up on packages, as it seems he sends

me something every month.

Not that I'm complaining as it's usually good stuff!

All right, this is a cassette game for the Timex Sinclair.

But I think this is for the later model that does color, which makes sense when looking

at the screenshot on the back.

Weird, this was made by Psion in 1983.

OK, so let's have a look at this.

This is cool because I'm going to be covering this computer really soon, like in the next

few months and this is the only piece of commercial software I have for it.

Thank you Chris!

Next up I have a package from an anonymous sender.

By the way, when I say anonymous I actually mean that the person specifically doesn't

want their name shown.

It's crazy how sometimes I get hateful comments from people saying what a jerk I am for not

even trying to find out who sent me something.

So, just to be clear on this, I know who sent it, and they don't want their name shown.

Here's a little note.

It says these are Amstrad disks.

Interesting.

I've never seen these before.

I guess I have another bizarre floppy format to add to my little museum.

Wow, these feel really thick compared to even 3.5" floppies.

Another interesting thing is the actual media looks almost silver by comparison of traditional

floppy disks.

Well, I appreciate these, so thank you!

OK, here's a package with no senders name on it, but on the side over here it says Gigatron

TTL microcomputer.

So I'll tell you what this is.

I was contacted by the guy that makes these recently.

At first I was thinking, "not another home made computer."

And well, it is, sort of.

But this one is very different from any that I have reviewed so far, and any that I have

planned to review.

You see, this computer runs entirely from TTL logic chips and has no microprocessor,

at least not in the traditional sense.

It comes with a game controller, as there are some video games in the onboard ROM chip.

And it appears to use the standard Atari style joystick connector.

And wow, I'm super impressed with this users manual.

Well, I decided not to open it any further for now.

I'll do an assembly and demonstration video soon enough for this as I'm bumping this

to the top of the list of home-brew computers.

So stay tuned.

Next up is a package addressed to The iBook Guy?

What the heck?

Has this been lost in the mail for 3 years or something.

Anyway, this appears to be from Christopher Murphy from Ireland.

Well, let's see what it contains.

It appears to be an NES cartridge, Bart vs. the Space Mutants.

I did not have this one, but being it is from Europe, I wonder if it will work on my NTSC

Nintendo.

Anyway, thank you Christopher.

Moving along, I have a package from Computer Service Badger.

Ok.

Oh look.

It says "Allergy Warning: May contain packing peanuts."

Well, fortunately, I'm not as annoyed by packing peanuts as at least one certain woodgrain-loving

youtuber is.

And here they are, might as well get this over with.

Here's a note.

Looks like this is from Endy.

OK, let me clean up this mess right quick..

All right, let's see what we've got here.

It appears to be a little thermal printer of some kind.

I suspect it connects to whatever is in the other package here.

And yep, it's another little pocket computer.

I have several of these now and intend to do a video at some point on them.

This is one I have not seen before.

I thought I'd stick some batteries in it, however, I realized this compartment is for

ROM chips, not batteries.

Apparently it has an internal rechargeable battery, which I am sure is long since dead.

But yeah, it looks like the printer attaches neatly like so.

Well, I'm sure I'll come back to this eventually, so stay tuned!

OK, and the last package of the month comes from Caleb Lovett.

Whatever it is wasn't packed so great, so I hope it survived.

Ahh..

Namco Museum for the Nintendo 64.

Cool, I did not have this one, and it appears to be intact.

So thank you Caleb!

OK, well, that about wraps it up.

This was again an amazing month.

I'm always amazed and humbled at the stuff that people send me.

I did want to mention something about this Commodore MAX.

It's an amazing donation and I'm really happy to receive this.

There's sort of a cruel irony behind it though, is that the video I really needed

it for was the last Commodore history video I did.

But, you know, because I want those videos to be kind of a documentary for future people

to watch, I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to go back and I'm going to

edit that documentary and put this in there instead of the still photos that I had and

maybe talk a little bit more about it.

And so, that video will be getting re-uploaded eventually and then shortly followed by the

next one in the documentary series.

In fact, I've even thought about merging them together so that the entire Commodore

64 episode is, instead of being like two 25 minute episodes, it might be like one maybe

hour-long episode or something like that.

Anyway, the point is, if you see me re-upload that video and you start scratching your head

going "well, I thought I've already seen this one before."

Well, that's the reason it's because I wanted to add the content in for the Commodore

MAX, where it fits best.

So anyway, the other thing I wanted to do is give a big shout out to my friend Leo who

put his head in the box and he had to spend a lot more time in the box than we originally

planned because he couldn't stop laughing.

Because it was very funny.

I hope at least some of you found it amusing.

So anyway, that's it for now, so stick around for next time and thanks for watching!

📝 Marin Hoxha & Chris Linton - Hold Me Back Lyrics

Hold on, get through You'll make it out okay

Fight for what you are A leap of faith

Won't drag it out again, I'll show you There is more to me

You know what I want I'll spell it out

If I need to Afraid of the fall

I'll spell it out If need to

I know what I want Do you?

Won't let you hold me back

Won't let you hold me back Won't let you hold me back

Wake up, we're through Not fading out again

Faith in what is new Blinded by guilt

You were the one to blame Don't need you, forgot you

You know what I want I'll spell it out

If I need to I know what I want

Do you?

Won't let you hold me back

Won't let you hold me back Won't let you hold me back

What is required to meditate? - Duration: 4:22.

What is required is your interest to learn and if you have a yearning, if

you can have the three mantras that I always emphasize; dedication, discipline

and patience. If you are dedicated you will always take out time in priority

because the time is not available in any shop, you have to take out when you need

to achieve a certain thing for yourself. If you are disciplined every day you

would practice without fail. It is the practice which can make your perfect in

anything. First day, anything you want to do in this world could be awful for you

but as you practice and go on, the things become very easy and usual for you. Thus

practice is very very important and you need to have patience, after all the

mind has gone out of control since time immemorial, perhaps since so many lives

you never know. All the acquired habits of the mind need to be washed away.

This meditation is a purifying process of the mind.

The mind catches all the

reflections of the brain as I told you earlier and absorbs imprints.

You see, this mind has a tendency to analyze and make judgments. Even from

your childhood, whatever you would have come across or even through

imaginations on hearing, your mind would have absorbed all such imprints by

analyzing and making judgments, like this is good, this is bad, I want this, I do not

want this, this is mine and this is not mine and all these imprints would have

sat into the subconscious state. These things can always be playing on the mind

thus making the mind to go into a brooding of the past or making it to be

anxious about the future by going into a wild imagination which makes the mind

unable to be in the present. What is required is, you learn not to repeat

any such mistakes of the past, more than that you should not worry about the past,

you should not feel guilty. You can always plan for your future but you need

not be anxious unnecessarily. What is needed is you need to concentrate on the

present and put in your efforts perfectly and practice which can shape

your future into a beautiful bright, life achieving, successful career. For this you

need to be dedicated, disciplined and have patience

Living Cheap in NYC- Best Bagel Challenge ! - Duration: 10:08.

What is going on Members of the Barrio?

It's Jon coming to you from New York City

And today.. we're going to be doing the Bagel Challenge

That's right we're going to be going exploring

One of New York's cheapest food items

We're going to be going to five different places

And we are going to be trying

One bagel with cream cheese

From each of these spots

And declaring.. one place

The Bagel champion

I have dreamed of making a video like this

For a really long time

Let's get started

Stop number one

Murray's Bagels in Greenwich Village

I love your videos man.

Oh you've seen my stuff?

What's your name?

And one plain with cream cheese please

One plain with plain cream cheese?

Yeah

First taste test

We're going to rate this on a 1 to a 5

Just like I did the Pizza Challenge

My first bite of Murray's

I like the cream cheese

I don't know if I got the freshest bagel per say

I'm going to take one more bite

Maybe not as cruncy as I would normally like for a bagel

I'm going to give it

Three out of Five

Very solid

But..I think we can possibly do better

On the rest of the tour

I would recommend you come here

But.. I grew up in North Jersey

I had a spot where I lived in Fair Lawn

Where I think the bagels were better than this

This is very solid

What did you think of the first stop?

I slightly disagreed with you

I think I would give them four stars

I thought it was good

The cream cheese.. the sesame bagel I had. Really blended together well

Yeah maybe it wasn't as hard and crunchy

As some of the bagels you're used to

But.. for me I thought it was really good

We are going to stop number 2

Which is in chelsea

In fact.. the first three places that we're going to

Are all going to be.. within walking distance

We are stop number 2 right now

Brooklyn Bagel and Coffee

And it's big a ironic because they actually don't have any locations

In Brooklyn

They've got one in Queens

One in Manhattan

This is pretty high

On a lot of lists

Let's go check it out

Humungous line here

Thank you

I have to say

This may be the most cream cheese

I have ever seen put

Into a single bagel in my life

This bagel's a bit bigger

Than Murray's

It costs 3.50

It was almost the same price

And I do want to note that

That we chose these places

Based on a mixture of Yelp Reviews

And a couple of food blogs

But if there's any places you think we missed

Definitley tell us in the comments

Alright.. plain bagel with cream cheese

Test number two

Softer..

Then Murray's

Cream cheese is better as well

A little saltier perhaps

This is what a good New York City Bagel should taste like..

I'm going with Four

I like this a lot

A little heavy on the cream cheese perhaps

But..I think we got this fresh

And..I would totally recommend this place

A great bagel

What did you think?

I would say even though we are twins

I am going to be..

Slightly disagreeing with him

I think it was a good bagel

But..

The salty cream cheese

Kind.. of made each bite a little.. I don't know

Over done for me

And yeah it was a softer bagel

But I actually think I preferred the crunchiness of the Murray's one

Stop number 3

Is best bagel and coffee

Because clearly they think they have the best

Bagels and Coffee in New York

I guess this place was also

Really highly rated on a couple of websites

We're here in Midtown

About to try this spot out

63

Thank you

Let's go

I am really impressed with how this bagel looks

Look at this golden brown color

This might be the best looking of all the bagels we've eaten so far

It cost about 3.60

Which is about average

For the prices we paid for the first 3

Here we go

This reminds me a lot of the last place

The Brooklyn Bagel spot

That we were at

Very soft

I like the cream cheese better

In this one

I'm still just going to have to lean on a 4 for this

This is an excellent bagel

I have not been blown away by a bagel yet

This is soft

I really like how.. If you press it

For me that's a good bagel

It's just soft enough

When you do that

You see the cream cheese move

Excellent

Not perfect

But i'm giving this a 4

Alright.. I actually am finally going to agree with Jon

This is a really good bagel

He mentioned it.. the texture.. the color is perfect

I really like the bottom is toasted

And the top is soft

It's a nice blend

They don't go to crazy with the cream cheese

And the cream cheese inside tastes really good

It's not to salty

I think as of now

This is the bagel to beat

The Bar has been set

Literally and figuratively

At stop number 3

Best bagel and coffee..

We're taking the subway to the East Village

For number 4

We made it to 2nd ave station

We're about to walk up through the east village

To get to Tompkins Square Bagels

Which is really well known

In New York City

The East Village is definitley one of my favorite neighborhoods in the entire city

It's a really cool spot

Especially for younger people

If you want to have a lot of cheaper restaurants

And places to go out

We're almost by Tompkins Square Park

We've made it and this probably the most hipster bagel spot

Of all the places we're going to try out

They have a lot of weird variations

Including.. a rainbow bagel

We're going to stick with the basics

Plain bagel

Cream cheese

Not toasted

Honestly guys

They're all starting

To look the same to me

It's got the crispy brown

On the outside

It's got an average amount of cream cheese

Fairly warm

Never been here before

No expectations

Here we go

This reminds me of Murray's a lot

It's crunchy

Not as soft as I like though

As far as the texture

The cream cheese isn't bad

I would say this is very solid

But..

Nothing special

I'm going to go with a 3 here

So far best bagel and coffee is the spot to beat

From Midtown

We are going to leave Manhattan

And go to Brooklyn

For our final stop

In Park Slope

And I think this is going to be

A real contender

We're going in Park Slope right now

Which is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in all of New York City

There's a lot of brownstones here

We're pretty close to..

Prospect Park

And.. Brooklyn's pretty well known for their pizza

And for their bagels

Of course.. we had to include

At least one bagel spot in Brooklyn

I can't believe it guys

After 4 hours.. we made it to the final stop

Bagel Hole

Because it's kind of a hole in the wall

It's a tiny place

But..it has won a lot of awards

I don't know..

Maybe we've saved the best for last?

Can I get a plain bagel with cream cheese?

This is.. By far the cheapest bagel we've had today

Just two dollars and fifteen cents

Plain bagel cream cheese

We have not changed the recipe at all

It is a little bit smaller than some of the other ones

And i'm also curious

It's kind of later in the day

How fresh this is

But here we go

This is the last chance

To beat.. Best Bagel and Coffee

Bagel Hole taste test

That's really good

I think I need another bite though

This is it

This is the winner

I'm giving this 5

This is what I've been looking for

And it's interesting

Because the interior of that place.. reminded me of my favorite bagel spot

In New Jersey

Tiny..little hole in the wall

Crunchy..

Cream cheese is good

The perfect texture

And even though it's later in the day

It's still very fresh

Of all the places I've went to

This is the bagel I've been looking for

Bagel Hole.. Is the bagel challenge winner

No question from me

I really liked it

I totally agree with you

I thought it was a very crispy bagel

Even later in the day

It was still really good

The cream cheese was really smooth

Hands down

That was the winner

Of the bagel challenge

Members of the Barrio

Hope you enjoyed the bagel challenge

Bagel Hole in Park Slope

Was the winner

I guess we saved

The best..for last

Tell me in the comments

What's your favorite bagel

In New York City

I'm really curious

I always do need

we are giving birth because I work with déseress, you have already noticed these new characters of this channel

the title of this project "Sekai of koratto" that would like to say something like "the world of Koratto"

Because "SEKAI" is:

world in Japanese and "OF" is English and "Koratto" is the boy's name

I tried to invent a name

it's a series, but a series of shorts more than anything

an episode, it will not last more than two minutes

little by little we will add

situations

we will try to cause them to be funny, like a caricature

we will continue the next episode where every time we go to understand

little by little what happens. and clear up some doubts

for example these comments:

Why is Koratto so childish? that looks like a weird kid

it has its justification

just as he is living with his grandfather, this also has a justification but little by little we will go discovering it

I can not believe ... seriously I can not believe xD

that in the comments, they have put a name to the ant

yes, if the ant is like a character already, that appears in the last two episodes

Carlitos, carlitos

they have put carlos to the ant by general vote, I do not know how they agree, so carlos ...

It's like I have to consider him as a character in the serie xD

and now here in this serie all the ants are going to be called Carlos

we will try to upload an episode every Saturday

Yes, every Saturday, yes, if it does not happen like that every Monday

another thing as an interesting fact

well..

me, kodu, aunt kodu, Kkk Kodu

I never met my grandparents neither of the two

my grandfather (on the mother's side) died the same year I was born and (on my father's side) my other grandfather died long before I was born good not so much maybe

(my grandfather on his father's side) died a year and a half before I was born

I think...

I had bad luck in that aspect and I could not meet my grandparents

and I began to ask how is a family relationship between a grandfather and a child

Thanks God- dross (?)

I have my parents alive, my mother my father

It made me wonder what would happen if a child were left in the care of a grandfather but of a grandfather ..

pretty sweet, I know it's a bit cliché but it makes something nice and I'd like

inspires me to do something like that relationship between grandson and grandfather since I did not have it

my brother did know my maternal grandfather

and he tells me that he got along very well with him and that he really was a good person

which I do not live, because they died before I was born ...

I do not know, they agreed (?)

my brother was happy to go to my grandfather's house and well after he told me that I started thinking

my bad lucky xD

but at the same time it seemed to me something tender, although it has not happened to me

Many tell me they love their grandparents or grandmothers

although more grannies because they make food and grandparents, the grandparents are there, in this case we are going to talk about grandparents

grandfather fighter of life

koratto

restless child with too much energy and imagination- Sekai de koratto I have been working

from the

2015 since that time he had already had a design type of the main character

my first animation with him

It was 2017

I still did not know how to draw very well yet I decided to do it as a pilot and a parody

at that time I did not intend to add History to this boy

I developed a little more the personality of the character and the environment

like: who will be like their caregiver because a child can not be alone in a house

yes here is like the final result sekai of koratto that you are currently seeing

with episodes that we will upload every Saturday, the ideal is to keep the rhythm and make it every Saturday

this should be taken more as a caricature

but, equally, each chapter is connected to the previous one

and not all situations are sad

it's a caricature after all, only much slower

and much more

SLOW!

and I appreciate the support that has arrived and the comments

episode every Saturday, but in the week I will upload videos also about ..

more videos to not leave the channel dead xD

so they will be ..

I do not know how to explain it to aaa - me and Déseress are grateful with the support that has arrived

thank you very much

that is all

If you want to make a Fan Art to this, without hesitation I'll put it in the next episode

I will never ignore them

Me and déseress we are very grateful (x2)

thank you very much my cotorritos, I hope you like all this, since it is a job for you

so see you in another video and see you in another meme (?)

goodbye my cotorritos!

Real-Life BFFs Who Are Enemies On The Big Screen - Duration: 4:31.

Making movies and TV shows is hard work, but there's also plenty of down time, especially

for the actors.

A lot of thespians form lasting friendships with each other during these off-camera moments,

and some of these friendships develop, amusingly, among actors who play mortal enemies.

Here are some real-life besties who are not-so-friendly when paired up on-screen.

X-Men mates

In the long-running X-Men cinematic universe, Professor X and Magneto are played with incredible

talent and nuance by esteemed British actors Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, respectively.

This inspired casting spawned a bromance for the ages.

While they met in the '70s, they didn't become friends until the filming of 2000's X-Men.

They bonded over similar life experiences—both initially turned to acting as an escape from

personal torment, and both were stars of the English stage before becoming sci-fi icons.

McKellen told 60 Minutes,

"We are the same actor, really.

We've had the same career.

So we're peers.

We're equals.

We're not rivals."

"If you could, each of you, write a hashtag that best sums up your bromance.

[...] Do you mind holding it up?

That is so sweet."

Dead men bonding

The Shakespearean rivalry on The Walking Dead between Rick and The Governor, two very Southern

alpha males, was ably carried out by two actors who in real life are veteran British actors:

Andrew Lincoln and David Morrissey.

According to Walking Dead mastermind Robert Kirkman, the two are, quote, "pretty good

friends" from way back who often screwed around on set together.

In fact, his friendship with Lincoln was part of the reason why Morrissey was so happy to

join the cast.

Morrissey told Uproxx,

"We went to the same drama school, but not at the same time.

So I knew him then and his great friend at drama school was the son of a really good

friend of mine, so I've known him since he started, really, and I've followed his career

very closely."

Riverdale rival roommates

Riverdale is a pretty wacky show, somehow successfully transplanting the characters

of the goofy and square Archie comics into a Twin Peaks-esque town full of murder, violence,

and inappropriate romantic relationships.

The Betty Cooper and Cheryl Blossom roles are both played with over-the-top relish by

actresses Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch, respectively.

On-screen, their characters don't much trust or care for one another.

But real life is nothing like that for Reinhardt and Petsch.

When Glamour asked Petsch about meeting her Riverdale cast mates for the first time, the

actress gushed over Reinhardt.

"I met her once before, but now she's my best friend.

I live with her."

Bella and Jane Forever

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have appeared in four movies together, but their highest

profile pairing was in the Twilight movies.

Stewart, of course, played protagonist Bella Swan, while Fanning was Jane, a powerful villain

who could project horrific pain into people's brains.

Stewart and Fanning have clearly spent a lot of time together, and as a result, they absolutely

love and adore one another.

In 2016, Fanning introduced Stewart at Elle's Women in Hollywood Awards like this:

"I can honestly say that my friendship with Kristen is one of the most special bonds in

my life.

She has held my hair back and talked me through heartbreak.

She has always been there for me when I have needed her most and most of all she has taught

me the power of being 100 percent yourself 100 percent of the time."

When it was Stewart's turn to speak, she delivered the sweetness, too, telling Fanning,

"Dude, I love you so much."

High School chums

Several of the young, untested stars of the High School Musical trilogy went on to have

solid careers in movies and TV, including Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens.

In the movies, they played rivals, if not enemies: Tisdale portrayed Sharpay, East High's

literal and figurative drama queen, who had her stage time usurped by talented upstart

Gabriella, played by Hudgens.

In 2017, almost a decade since the release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Hudgens

told Women's Health that she's still very much still in touch with Tisdale.

"She's one of those girlfriends who will be my friend forever."

"My best friend, Vanessa Hudgens!"

"Ta-da!"

Brotherly love

Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth became fast friends while playing Loki and Thor in

the first Thor film.

Hemsworth told Collider,

"It's much easier to hate someone on screen, if you actually like them off screen."

Hiddleston added that his relationship with Hemsworth is, quote, "quite literally a bromance,"

adding that he,

"... can't imagine having to go to the emotional extremity that we both had to go to, if we

actually didn't like each other."

"It's probably for the best that we never see each other again."

"That's what you've always wanted."

6 Animal Noses That Outsniff Dogs - Duration: 9:53.

[INTRO ♪]

When we need a little help sniffing something out,

we usually turn to our furry best friends.

And there's good reason for that: dogs are relatively easy to train,

and their sense of smell is as much as 100,000 times more acute than ours.

And they're cuter.

We have machines, sure, but electronic odor detectors

tend to struggle when the chemical of interest is in low concentrations

in a complex mixture of molecules, like, I don't know, the air.

So we've taught dogs how to sniff out

everything from sewage leaks to artwork-destroying insects.

But they're not the only critters whose sense of smell can be put to good use.

There are other champion sniffers that we could use

to detect everything from disaster survivors to gourmet fungi.

Here are six of the animal kingdom's most useful noses.

Truffles—the edible fungi that grow underground, and not the chocolates—

are a gourmet food that can fetch extremely high prices.

Since they're very hard to cultivate, they're usually gathered from the wild.

But finding fungi growing up to a meter underground is pretty challenging.

Luckily, pigs are here to help us sniff them out, and they have for centuries.

Pigs have over a thousand olfactory receptor genes in their genomes—

that's more than dogs, or us, so they're able to detect a wider variety of smells.

And their olfactory bulb—

the part of their brains that processes the information from smelling—

make up about 7% of their brain.

Your bulb is a mere 0.01% of your brain.

But the real reason we use them to hunt truffles

is that they seem to have a weird natural affinity for them.

In the 1980s, researchers discovered that truffles contain large amounts of

a musky steroid that boars secrete in their saliva to put their sows... in the mood.

So, many think that's what attracts the pigs.

But a study in 1990 suggested another compound—

dimethyl sulfide—was the odor instead.

And there hasn't been much follow up, so the jury is still out.

Either way, pigs' natural instinct to root around in the dirt

in search of food probably enhances their truffle-finding skills.

Though, apparently, the pigs are notorious for snacking on the goods they find,

and it's no picnic trying to wrestle a $1000 fungus from a 200-kilogram hog.

Which is probably why nowadays,

they're losing their truffle hunting jobs to trained dogs.

I guess natural talent just doesn't trump canine ease of use.

Detecting sick animals could help predict and track

outbreaks of diseases like bird flu that can jump from other species to our own.

But classic methods for detection, like blood tests,

require a lot of time and money for sample collection and analysis.

And why do that, when there's a living disease detector right under our noses?

Enter: Mice.

Like dogs and pigs, rodents have far more functioning genes

for odor reception than we do, so they're able to

distinguish between scents that we can't even smell.

And, relative to the size of their brains,

their olfactory bulb is 200 times bigger than ours,

and 5 times bigger than dogs'.

That, and their ease of breeding and care,

makes them ideal for use as biosensors: living chemical detectors.

In a 2013 study, researchers found that mice could sniff the difference

between the poop from healthy mallard ducks

and poop from ones infected with avian influenza.

The six trained mice managed to pick out the right poop about 80% of the time,

though that was under lab conditions—

it remains to be seen if they fare as well in the field.

But that hasn't stopped New York scientists from trying to take

the whole mouse biosensor idea to the next level using genetic engineering.

In 2016, they showed their "MouSensor" mice,

which are engineered with additional olfactory receptor genes,

can be up to one hundred times better than regular lab mice

at detecting particular smells—and those were just the pilot versions.

With results like that, it might not be long

before dogs start losing ground to super sniffing genetically modified mice.

Landmines left behind after conflicts kill thousands of people every year,

but finding and removing them is a dangerous and difficult task.

It's much safer for the humans involved if something smaller and lighter

can go through and flag where all the bombs are first.

People have used dogs for this, but they're expensive to train,

and hard to transport around the world.

So, a Belgian nonprofit enlists local noses instead—

those of Gambian pouched rats.

These so-called rats—which are actually members of

a different rodent family—are huge rodents native to central Africa.

They can be 75 centimeters from nose to tail and weigh over a kilogram.

Their vision is terrible, but they make up for it with an amazing sense of smell,

which they use to communicate with each other over long distances.

And that means their noses have no trouble detecting

small amounts of explosives like TNT, even if said explosives

are buried 20 centimeters below ground in a land mine.

They're also light enough to walk across minefields safely, and they're fast—

a single rat can check 200 square meters in 20 minutes,

which would take a person days to do.

The nonprofit calls their trained rodents "HeroRATS"—and it's easy to see why.

Gambian pouched rats helped clear over 13,000 mines in Tanzania,

Mozambique, Angola, and Cambodia between 1997 and 2015.

But the rats do require a rigorous training protocol

that takes the first nine months of their eight-year lives.

At least they look super cute in their special little harnesses!

After a disaster like an earthquake,

finding victims trapped in debris can be a slow, challenging process.

Search and rescue dogs and their powerful sniffers are a big help.

But often, a smaller, more agile critter would be even better.

Something like … a search and rescue cat!

Okay, cats aren't actually being trained to do this yet,

but experts argued in a 2017 paper that maybe they should be.

That's because, although we don't know as much about their sense of smell

as other animals, what we do know suggests they've got great noses.

For example, they have 30 variants of the V1R odor receptor gene—

dogs only have nine, and we only have two.

That suggests that they may be even better than dogs

at discriminating between some scents.

The scientists behind the 2017 review argue that this means they could

take over some of the scent-related jobs that dogs are trained to do now.

And since cats are better climbers and can squeeze into smaller spaces,

they might be better suited to searching for trapped people than man's best friends.

The problem is training them, but the researchers believe it's possible,

with proper socialization and the right rewards to motivate them.

I mean, if we can train pigs and mice and giant rats, how hard could cats be?

Though, that saying about herding cats does exist for a reason.

So whether cats will live up to their heroic potential remains to be seen.

When you're sick, you actually smell a little weird.

No offense.

The illness and your immunological reaction to it

alter the concentrations of some molecules in your bodily fluids.

I mean, you might not smell the difference, but bees can.

Though they don't have noses in the way we think of them,

honey bees do have an amazing sense of smell.

That's what allows them to sniff their way to food even if it's miles away.

And scents play incredibly important roles in bee social lives.

Which is why, in their genomes, they have 163 functional

odorant receptor genes—the smelling genes unique to insects.

Fruit flies, for comparison, which also have to sniff out their meals,

have less than half that number.

These diverse odor receptors allow bees to smell the difference

between subtly different varieties of the same plant.

And it only takes a single encounter with an odor associated with a reward,

like nectar, for a bee to be able to identify the smell again.

That makes it really easy to teach bees to detect a variety of chemicals,

including disease-specific odors on our breath.

A designer in the UK even invented a glass apparatus

that allows for diagnosis by bee.

The bees have to be trained on the smell of the disease in question,

but if a person with that condition breathes into the device,

the trained bees swarm towards their breath.

If they're not sick with the target illness, the bees don't react.

It's just a prototype, but it did work at least once,

identifying a confirmed case of diabetes.

And sure, dogs can perform a similar trick, but the bees are a lot easier to train.

It only takes about 10 minutes of training to get 98% accuracy from the bees,

whereas dogs take weeks and are only right about 71% of the time.

So making honey, pollinating plants, and now diagnosing diabetes—

is there anything bees can't do?

But bees aren't the only insects with smelling superpowers.

Wasps can get in on the act, too.

A tiny parasitic wasp called Microplitis croceipes

lays its eggs in the bodies of living caterpillars.

And it behaves differently when it smells its host as opposed to its food,

which means scientists can train a single wasp to identify two different smells!

On the downside, the wasps only live a few weeks,

and they only remember the scents they've been trained on for a couple days.

But on the upside, they're cheap to raise,

and are reportedly even easier to train than bees.

And according to researchers that have worked with them,

they can detect "almost anything"—they've trained wasps on explosives,

food toxins, and even the pheromones of bed bugs.

In trials, the wasps were at least ten times as sensitive

to the test chemicals as the best electronic sensors.

The researchers even invented a device

for harnessing the wasps' super sniffing ability.

They call it the "Wasp Hound", because it's kind of like having

a trained bloodhound… except it's a container of wasps,

that wiggle instead of howl.

The wasps are held in a cartridge, which is exposed to air samples.

Based on their movements, the researchers can tell

whether the chemical they've been trained on is present in the sample or not.

Sniffer wasps could be used for jobs considered

too dangerous for us or our loyal companions to perform.

But the startup hoping to market the wasps' mad sniffing skillz

hasn't been too successful, so it's unclear if wasps

will replace the hounds they're named after anytime soon.

But even if some of these examples are still conceptual,

it's pretty wild that all sorts of animals—

from those with backbones and four legs, to those with stingers and six legs—

have these amazingly useful olfactory abilities.

Whether it's ridding the world of dangerous explosives left over after wars,

or finding gourmet fungus growing underground,

these six animals follow their noses to do some incredible things.

If there's a scent we need to track down

that our human schnozzes can't detect,

there's probably a critter out there that can help us sniff it out.

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow.

While our noses aren't quite as keen as the animals we just talked about,

they're not as bad at sniffing as you might think.

If you want to learn more about that,

you can check out our episode about human smelling abilities.
