Create A LEGACY! - Motivation Video 2018 - Duration: 10:10.

I remember when I started the school that I said to my beloved friend Maya

Angelou said Maya I'm so I'm just so proud that I was able to create the

school I said this is going to be my greatest legacy and Maya said to me you

have no idea you have no idea what your legacy will be she said to me because

your legacy is every life you've touched and that shifted the way I saw legacy or

what you leave behind or what you do because Maya was explaining to me that

you know over all the years of watching your show everybody who decided that

they were going to go back to school or lose weight or no longer hit their

children or get out of a bad marriage all of those people who have seen and

experienced your voice and the same thing with everybody here you have no

idea with your legacy that will be your legacy is every life that you've touched

and we like to think of it I know you have done amazing things with your

philanthropy we like to think that these great philanthropic moments are the ones

that leave the impact or will make the huge difference in the world but it's

really what you do every day it's how you use your life to be a light to

somebody else's you know and it's how you use your work as an expression of

your own art whatever that is so sure of yourself but when you were just starting

my mom your mom my mom what she do feel when I was nine years old and opened the

door for an elderly woman at a McDonald's she reacted as if I won the

Nobel Peace Prize what my mom did was super smart she overreacted on

everything that I was doing that was a good human trait and she held me

accountable for things that didn't matter like grades my mom built huge

self-esteem in me and I feel like the biggest reason I am Who I am today to

everybody is cuz I feel so guilty and so grateful for what she did for me that I

want to do it for everybody else which is guess what you suck at a ton of good

so does everybody else you also probably pretty

Raddatz something tries many things as possible until you figure out what your

rad at and you like and go do that for the rest of your life and stop getting

everybody it's the impact that you want to have on the world

I think you've you've said it so beautifully so many times and shared my

vision which is wonderful and it's wonderful to know that we share the same

thing it's making wisdom go viral there's an incredible study in 2017 that

said the most successful people in the world healthy wealthy and wise choose

education over entertainment the impact I want to have from the world is I want

to transform and revolutionize the entertainment industry so that it

becomes educational without anyone knowing so it's still completely

entertaining it's still like watching Netflix but you're learning about human

behavior the mind neuroscience and everything without even knowing you are

to me that's the greatest win that we can have for our society how many people

are going to quit watching Netflix I'm reading a book every night I don't know

but if we can make that book come to life on Netflix that's gonna change the

world because that's what people are going to consume so for so long

media has been used to numb people to to switch people off if we can use it to

excite elevate enlightened people not by just not by like the cheesy way of like

well let's follow someone through their journey of enlightenment not like that

kind of stuff I mean like really entertaining programming where you can

learn by being entertained at the same time if I can do that by changing the

most powerful industry in the world then I will feel that I've had some some

whatever an impact because that way I think will reach the world without

having to get one to change their habits too much my my thing is how do we meet

people where they are and and really deliver a message and a powerful

expression of love and to me that's the highest form of compassion the highest

form of empathy love and compassion is to meet people where they already are

rather than expecting them to change hard for me to encourage people to act

because I know the stress and uncertainty and and and nothing's

guaranteed and it's such a such a dice roll you know it's such a gamble and but

you can never touch the mind not to follow their dreams you know what they

want to do so it's always a constant toss-up you know I was like I start off

with the negatives like okay I'm an XYZ this is what it is raw you know like you

know you you might be on a 7-eleven diet for a while and it might sleep out your

car I mean I did it you know I'm saying and and and you might go on you know on

these auditions you might get two callbacks you know and you gotta have a

thick skin you know it's a very shallow very vain industry you know like I said

you could be a great actor great actor have all the talent but you might not be

built for film you know I'm saying yeah and that's a harsh way that people don't

that people can't take so if I lay out everything like that and people still

want to do it then I might okay cool let's go you know you know pass on that

alone if it means good I think that's our responsibility to is to tell you you

know it's easy to see the good stuff when it's successful when it happens the

right way you know like the the reward but very rarely people like really

understand like the lows you know like how lonely this industry is to you know

how much you spend time you spend by yourself you know I mean and and and

alone and and you know any when things get bad it's it's you know it's it's it

could be a real lonely place third thing that you got to know is you have to have

a map of success so think about you know the olden days they used to bury

treasure and to find it they would have a map and if you didn't have that map

you could spend all the hard work all the time all the effort all the labor

you wanted you never would find the treasure and the school system failed us

let's just face it elementary school junior high high school I'm not saying

all schools bad but I'm saying there's things that didn't teach us we didn't

learn the proper tools and so we weren't given the map to success and that's why

so many people are in debt and why so many people are depressed and why so

many people have financial trouble and so many people don't know how to invest

their money it comes from a lack of a map and I want to give you a map and

that's part of why I've traveled to 40 or 50 countries once I was sleeping on

that couch I found a mentor Mike Stainback

one thing led to another business networking begin to travel I've

been to you know New Zealand Japan and South America Bolivia Chile Germany all

these countries around the world where I found mentors who gave me a map they

said here ty here's what worked for us I remember being in Germany with a guy who

invited me and and he was you know 30 years older than me and he laid out how

he just told me we went on up walked back to the hotel where I was staying

I was speaking doing a little business talk there to his staff and he said I

want to share with you what worked for me I started at 12 years old and now I'm

70 years old and I want to show you what worked for me ty and I remember thinking

this guy's given me the map what if they had given me that map when I was 18

years old in school life would have been so much easier if you have the map

I was birthed by parents who were dream chasers and you'd be surprised when your

parents are dream chasers they teach you to believe in God and to believe in

yourself and to believe in work and ethics and drive and determination I

watched my father fight to build a business with the mop and a bucket into

52 employees and janitorial service contracts all over the state of West

Virginia I watched him in the fight I watched him

go to work tired and I watched him solve problems and conflicts and go through

the layoffs and hiring more people and and all kind of issues so I'm so lost

the keys and didn't lock up the building we love the contract we're good you know

the drama of a dream a lot of people when they think of a dream they don't

think a drama so when they encounter drama they think they've missed the

dream but there's drama in the process of birthing your dream and to have the

intuitive skills to know that the drama doesn't mean that the dream is deferred

it is just a part of the unfolding of the ultimate conquest I have learned

that it is the things that happen along the way and not just the destination the

road to the bag is definitely tied to your team

in the company that you keep if you are surrounding yourself with different

energies that's not on the same wavelength as you if they not praying

for you inspiring you supporting you for showing you a better way hello remove

them immediately or you can take them to church pray for taking the church but

you can't help them get there oh you got to take care yourself you know what it's

called it's like we talked about the other day is like being on the airplane

and the thing come down you got to take care of yourself first you know they put

the mask on put the mask on really takes some time and really look at who you're

surrounding yourself with look who's to the left and to the right of you and

ain't like minded are they disciplined are they pushing you forward it's so

simple for us to solve this a lot of the hardest problems are so easy to solve we

just have to take those steps which are hard and be mindful of that cuz trust me

that energy is gonna affect you if you're around those and gangsta's you're

gonna be in jail if you're around cats talking negative you won't be negative

if you're around some brush you're gonna be rope broke freeze pump being around

some month if you're around god and some money you on your way you're on your way

you're on your way I want to make some money I can't make I can't really be

successful by myself I need other people around me so you

where you are as great as your team

North Korea, U.S. in multiple preparatory meetings for summit - Duration: 2:52.

Our starting point is once again Pyongyang and Washington's multi-pronged diplomatic

activities.

All possibly designed to assist with preparations for the summit between their leaders, originally

set to be held on June 12 in Singapore.

Moments ago, U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted North Korea's former intel chief Kim Yong-chol

... is heading to New York Lee Ji-won updates us on the rapid developments.

North Korea and the United States seem to be getting closer to finally announcing that

the first ever Pyongyang-Washington summit *will in fact be held.

The Vice Chairman of the North's Workers' Party, Kim Yong-chol , who is also in charge

of the regime's United Front Department, arrived in Beijing Tuesday morning to fly to the U.S.

According to South Korea's Yonhap News, citing sources in China, Kim's name is on the list

of people taking a flight to New York on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Sources in China say Kim will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

This would be the third time for the two diplomats to meet.

Also in Beijing with Kim was the official in charge of North American affairs at Pyongyang's

foreign ministry, Choe Kang-il.

The two initially booked a New York-bound flight leaving Tuesday afternoon but postponed

it to the next day.

The change in schedule was likely because of a meeting arranged between Kim and Chinese

officials at the airport on Tuesday.

The same sources say Kim and Pompeo are expected to put together the final pieces for the summit,...

and reaffirm the North's efforts to denuclearize and the States' effort to guarantee Pyongyang's

security.

Meanwhile late Monday, an eight-member delegation from the North is said to have landed in Singapore,

according sources there, to meet their U.S. counterparts.

The North Koreans are led by the Secretariat of the regime's State Affairs Commission,

Kim Chang-son, a top logistics and protocol official.

The U.S. team, consisting of some 30 officials from the White House and State Department,

led by Deputy White House Chief of Staff Joe Hagin, arrived in the Southeast Asian city-state

earlier that day.

Although the exact time of the meeting has not been disclosed, the two sides are expected

to meet as early as Tuesday, to discuss logistics, protocol and specific venues and itineraries

for Kim Jong-un and President Trump.

Representatives of the U.S. and North Korea are also to resume their meeting at the inter-Korean

border village of Panmunjom on Wednesday.

Those delegations are led respectively by former U.S. ambassador to South Korea and

former nuclear negotiator Sung Kim,... and North Korea's Choe Son-hui, who serves as

the regime's vice foreign minister and is a former director of her ministry's North

American department.

The talks began on Sunday but, according to diplomatic sources, they did not convene on

Monday and Tuesday.

The same sources say the two are expected to have worked on the summit's agenda and

other details.

The Ultimate Donut Battle: Cake vs. Yeast - Duration: 4:45.

Hey, we all love donuts, right?

They're a delicious cultural touchstone.

Except -- there's nothing weirder than biting into a cake donut when you're expecting

the texture of a yeast donut.

It's all fried dough, right?

So what makes cake donuts and yeast donuts so different?

Chemistry, of course.

We asked Zach Foster at Blue Dot Donuts in New Orleans what makes donuts so great.

And along the way, he showed us how to make a mean cake donut.

We'll try to keep our yeast vs. cake partisanship to ourselves and just bring you the facts

except YEAST DONUTS RULE and ok now it's out of my system.

I'M PARTIAL TO CAKE DONUTS MYSELF You're wrong.

Anyway,

This is a yeast donut, and /this/ is a cake donut.

Both contain mostly the same stuff: flour, sugar, eggs, milk, butter, bit of salt.

Both are traditionally deep fried instead of baked.

"The main difference between them is that usually cake donuts are done with a cake flour

and yeast donuts are usually done with a all purpose basic flour.

The main difference between both them is your leavening agent.

A yeast donuts, or a yeast raise, that's what they're technically called, is done

with a yeast, either fresh or dried.

And then cake is usually done with the baking powder."

Yeast is alive; it's fungus -- it's called Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

And its job is, basically, to eat the donut dough.

Not all of it, obviously.

Yeast munches on the sugar and starch in the donut dough and produces carbon dioxide gas

as waste -- as well as lots of little  molecules that add to the flavor of the final product.

That carbon dioxide creates all the spongy air pockets you see in a yeast donut and gives

the dough its rise.

But something has to prevent all the CO2 from bubbling out.

That job goes to the wheat protein complex we call gluten.

We've got a whole video on gluten if you're interested, but it basically creates a strong

stretchy web that traps the gas inside the dough.

It also gives the dough that chewy texture, or crumb in baker's parlance.

"For us, proofing time, if your dough's too green it will shrink, usually.

So if you've ever made like bread or made any kind of dough, pizza dough even.

A pizza dough you're trying to stretch it out.

If it's too fresh, if it hasn't proofed long enough, it won't stretch, it will just

start shrinking right back.

So you have to make sure you have enough proof time to get it to be able to do what you want

it to do."

Should this be lower where we bring up proofing, or the section on proofing higher?

Cake donuts are chemically leavened.

That means they contain baking powder, baking soda, or both.

Baking soda is a base, and it reacts with acid to produce that same CO2.

If you're going to leaven a batter with baking soda, you need to add some acid for

it to react with.

Buttermilk, which contains lactic acid, is a popular choice.

Baking powder is a combination of baking soda and an acid already mixed in -- something

like cream of tartar or sodium aluminum sulfate.

Those reactions look like this -- and generally won't happen until wet and/or heated, meaning

your cake donuts will puff up in the fryer.

Chemical leaveners are new on the scene, having only been invented in the last 200 years or

so, and they provide some benefits over yeast.

Like being much faster.

Yeast has to be proofed, which means it wakes up from the preserved state you buy it in

and starts eating.

So yeast takes its time to munch on those tasty sugars and produce the bubbles you want.

Baking powder and baking soda rely on a fast, straightforward chemical reaction, and waiting

will just result in gas bubbling out of your dough.

But that speed affects the texture too.

Yeast doughs are kneaded to build up that gluten web.

Chemically leavened batters are generally just...mixed.

There's very little gluten developed, and that leads to that softer, cakier texture.

But since it also doesn't trap as much CO2, cake donut batter is denser.

After that, the donuts go into the fryer.

Cake donuts can be baked, but Blue Dot clearly prefers the oil method.

"And all it does is drop out the certain amount you want anywhere from 1 ounce to 3

ounces.

We max ours out because we like to go big go big or go home.

Then get up over the fryer and then just start.

The longer they stay down the denser they will be."

This is generally pretty similar between cake and yeast donuts, although yeast donuts have

to be shaped and proofed a second time before they go in.

Cake donuts can be piped just before you put them in the fryer or straight into the oil.

Oh, and if you want to know more about frying we've got that covered too.

So that's the how and why of the great donut divide, and may we remind you that the correct

side to be on is  team chewy, fluffy yeast donuts.

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF, HEATHEN

Just kidding.

We wouldn't say anything mean against these fine people's cake donuts.

Thanks again to Blue Dot Donuts, and thanks for watching.

videos like this one.

We'll see you next time.

Watch These Cunning Snails Stab and Swallow Fish Whole | Deep Look - Duration: 4:49.

Big news.

You can now support Deep Look on Patreon.

More after the show.

Cone snails are striking … in more ways than one.

They lurk in the sand around coral reefs.

And wait til you see what's under the hood.

That pretty veneer is hiding an impressive array of tools … and weapons.

A cone snail's breathing tube, called a siphon, is actually more like a sheet of muscle

rolled into a snorkel.

Besides drawing water to gills deep in its shell, the siphon also can pick up the scent

of unsuspecting prey.

That's when the cone snail goes spearfishing.

Its extendible proboscis is packing a concealed weapon.

A tiny, hollow harpoon made of chitin, the same tough stuff in a lobster shell.

And the end of the proboscis is tricked out with receptors.

Taste buds.

That help it close in on its target.

When it strikes, the snail's pace jumps to light speed.

The embedded harpoon doubles as a hypodermic needle to inject the victim with paralyzing

venom.

As it reels in the catch, the cone snail uses another covert tool called a rostrum.

It opens up to swallow the fish whole.

Some cone snails hunt more familiar prey.

Other snails.

The smaller snail digs down to hide its shell opening.

The predator looks for a way in.

When it finds it, the hunter hits its prey with more than one shot of venom.

A lot is going on in the fifth of a second before the snail fires that harpoon.

So let's rewind and break it down.

First the proboscis flexes as the muscles inside prepare for the strike.

Then the venom floods into the proboscis, but stops just short of the harpoon.

A round muscle holds the lethal fluid in check, like a kink in a hose, building even more

pressure.

Then, everything blows, and propels the venom into the harpoon, the harpoon into the prey.

What has scientists interested in cone snails is that their venom varies not only from species

to species but also from individual to individual, and even from shot to shot.

In fact they seem to mix their venom cocktail on the fly from thousands of unique ingredients,

each with its own purpose.

All this variety means a world of new drugs could lie under that shell.

Novel ways to treat things like chronic pain, Alzheimer's, and diabetes.

Most cone snail strikes hurt as much as a bee sting.

A few can kill you though, like this geography cone, it has the most venomous sting in the

world.

Here's a tip: Don't go gathering these shells when you're snorkeling in Australia.

Matt O'Dowd: Or as they say down under, if it's a cone, leave it alone.

Laura: It's Matt O'Dowd from Space Time!

Matt: Good'ay Laura.
