Chinese jaywalkers receive their fine immediately through SMS

Facial recognition technology is really starting to become a big deal in China.

It wasn�t that long ago when Chinese traffic police began using facial recognition to nab

those who were violating traffic laws.

Now they�ve taken things one step further with artificial intelligence (AI): When the

facial recognition cameras catch someone jaywalking, not only will they be identified, named, and

publicly shamed, they will also be sent text messages telling them what their violation

is and how much the fine they have to pay will be.

Based on online reports, a Shenzhen-based AI company called Intellifusion will be in

charge of rolling out this �feature� of the new Shenzhen traffic system.

That is, in addition to simply displaying the faces of jaywalkers on giant LED screens

located at intersections, they will be working with local mobile phone carriers and social

media companies in order to work out a system that will send out the jaywalking-related

text messages to jaywalkers as soon as they get caught.

And things can only get worse for traffic violators.

According to Wang, the system will also register exactly how many times a person has violated

the city�s traffic laws, and if they reach a specified number of violations, it will

have an effect on their social credit score.

This, in turn, would limit their ability to access certain things that they might need,

such as public transportation systems and even loans from public banks.

According to Wang Jun, the director of marketing solutions at Intellifusion, sending out the

text messages may be the missing piece in the puzzle of preventing future traffic violations.

�Jaywalking has always been an issue in China and can hardly be resolved just by imposing

fines or taking photos of the offenders,� he explained.

�But a combination of technology and psychology � can greatly reduce instances of jaywalking

Facial recognition technology may seem scary, but you�ll find that things are a little

bit worse than you think.

Facial recognition systems are tasked with generating a so-called faceprint for individuals,

which can then be stored in a facial recognition database.

These faceprints are created by scanning human faces and measuring the distance between various

points such as the width of their noses or the depth of their eye sockets.

All in all, there are more than 80 �nodal points� in a human�s face that can be

tracked and accounted for by facial recognition scanners, and it is these points that are

used for reference when identifying scanned individuals.

There are many ways to scan faces for facial recognition, but for the current system that

is installed in Shenzhen, they�re using cameras with 7-megapixel sensors that can

take photos of pedestrians crossing the streets.

So far, the system has been able to catch approximately 13,930 jaywalkers, identifying

them and displaying their personal information on the LED screens that are present in intersections.

There�s also an accompanying webpage, managed by the traffic police, which shows the photos,

names, and the partial ID numbers of the perpetrators that were caught.

It�s said that the next step in this grand plan to deter people from violating traffic

laws involves streamlining all identification efforts by going straight to instant messaging.

By simply sending text or instant messages to errant pedestrians, the use of giant LED

screens that announce violations may become unnecessary.

to discipline its people.

Celebs Who Can't Stand Working With Animals - Duration: 4:21.

We've all heard of actors feuding with each other on set, but celebs who can't stand working

with animals?

Yes, that's actually a thing.

But how bad could it possibly be to goof around with an adorable animal?

Pretty bad, apparently, at least according to this surprising list of movie and TV stars

who have willingly shaded their fuzzy co-stars.

These are the celebs who can't stand working with animals.

Doggy diva

There may be no more adorable sitcom mascot, than Eddie on Frasier.

"Go away."

Eddie served as a wonderful foil to the antics of the neurotic psychologist and his working-class

dad.

But Eddie, who's real name was Moose, was an actor — and he was certainly no Eddie

in real life.

According to TV Guide, Kelsey Grammer said Moose used to bite John Mahoney "whenever

he'd sit on his lap."

Mahoney admitted Moose bit him twice, but only because he was accidentally provoked.

He told Fox News,

"I love dogs.

But Moose […] I just realized right off the bat he's not interested in me.

[...] He was a temperamental actor as far as I'm concerned."

"Eddie's a very highly trained animal."

"He's the only real scene stealer, I think, in our cast."

Interrupting cow

The film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods, combined several Brothers

Grimm fairy tales, as well as an original story starring Emily Blunt and James Corden.

And according to Corden, the whole thing would have run a lot smoother minus Tug the cow.

Referring to Tug as "the biggest diva on set," Corden told USA Today,

"It didn't change my mind about eating burgers working with that cow."

Apparently Tug had a habit of letting out ill-timed "Moos" in the middle of the human

actors' performances.

Corden didn't hold back when he told Movie Maniacs:

"The cow was a nightmare."

"Just (moooooooo) as this cow would just back towards you."

Monkey business

Marcel, Ross' pet monkey on Friends, is easily two of the most famous animal actors — because

Marcel was played by Katie and Monkey, two female capuchins who have had incredible success

since their time on the show.

According to BuzzFeed, Katie has gone on to roles in Bruce Almighty and 30 Rock, and even

appeared alongside model Kendall Jenner in Allure.

That's pretty remarkable, considering David Schwimmer, who played Ross, once told EW,

"I hate that monkey.

I wish it were dead."

Schwimmer's frustration was mostly because the trainers wouldn't let him "bond" with

Katie and Monkey.

Matthew Perry was similarly unkind to the capuchin duo, telling The Morning Call,

"The monkey doesn't know he's on TV."

He went on to lament that no matter how good the actors' takes were, they would use the

one where the monkey miraculously did the thing it was supposed to do.

Living La Vida Dolce

In 2011's Young Adult, Charlize Theron's Mavis travels with a tiny Pomeranian constantly

stuffed in her purse.

And perhaps the reason why, was that the dog, Dolce, was a total rookie.

"Is that a dog in your bag?"

"Nope."

Theron told Jay Leno that director Jason Reitman spotted Dolce out in public, and cast her

right on the spot.

She said,

"You couldn't get it to focus for like two seconds.

It was insane.

It really was the perfect dog for Mavis but it was driving Charlize crazy."

A rat by any other name

Though comedy vet Ben Stiller didn't come right out and say that he hated working with

the ferret in Along Came Polly, he was pretty candid about the time it attacked him out

of the blue.

He told TV Guide,

"I was bitten by the ferret.

[...] I was holding him up and he did this crazy turn-around thing.

He literally attached himself to my chin and he didn't let go."

"Oh!

Rat in the house!"

"He's a ferret.

He can't really see anymore."

Co-star, Jennifer Aniston confirmed the situation, saying,

"It's not the warmest, cuddliest animal.

It's just a big rat at the end of the day."

A little hippophobia

No, this isn't about hippos.

Kristen Stewart actively pursued a role in spite of her fear of horses.

"Riding horses scares the crap out of me."

She revealed to People that she fell off a horse when she was 9 years old and "broke

and dislocated" her elbow.

Since then, she said she's hated the noble creatures as well as the horseback riding

in Snow White and the Huntsman.

But for Stewart, Snow White was a role she couldn't pass up, saying,

"I wanted so badly to do this that it was just like, 'Alright, well, if I perish by

horse, that's all good.'"

Draymond Green Responds to 'Old' Charles Barkley Saying He Wants Someone to Punch Him in the Face - Duration: 1:17.

For Complex News, I'm Pierce Simpson, and Draymond Green hopes Charles Barkley keeps

that same energy when he sees him in the streets.

This emerging talk stemmed from Tuesday nights Golden State Warriors playoff game against

the Pelicans.

Towards the end of the first half, things got heated, with Draymond and Rajon Rondo

getting into each other's faces.

While recapping this moment on TNT's Inside the NBA, Barkley point-blank said "I just

want somebody to punch him in the face."

When asked to elaborate, he just said he wants Draymond punched in the face.

Draymond caught wind of Barkley's comment, and kept it funky during the post-game press

conference.

"If you're not going to punch me in my face when you see me, then shut up.

It's no different than somebody sitting behind a computer screen tweeting, 'I'll knock you

out,' and you never seen them in life.

But he's seen me a bunch of times, and he'll see me again this year.

Punch me in the face when you see me, or if not no one cares what you would have done.

You old and it is what is.

So if you ain't going to punch me when you see me, then stop talking about it.

Period."

Green, who had 20 points and 12 assists in the Warriors' win, basically equated Barkley

to a Twitter troll.

And while Draymond and Rajon kept it petty throughout the rest of the game, Barkley hasn't

responded to Draymond's comments.

Charles Barkley has always been outspoken, no matter who he pisses off.

Hopefully this doesn't lead to him actually getting into a fight.
