Waching daily Jan 11 2018

Greetings Earthlings!

Welcome to the MadqueenShow!

I am your host the MadQueen

On today's menu, we're with the hungover of yesterday's beep and, as I promised yesterday,

here's the speculation video, because yesterday I didn't want to say the first things that

came to mind, I wanted to think a little about what happened and the meaning of all and,

before I start, I must say I loved your comments on yesterday's video, mostly because I'm

so happy to see that there are so many people that are so hyped for the game

meaning I'm not alone, and also because usually, the most passionate comments are

from haters, like "How do you dare enjoying the Last Jedi!

This film was crap!

You have no idea!"

Yes, there are people like that

But, back to the building, the beep

For those of you that spent yesterday sleeping, CD Projekt RED tweeted yesterday in their

official Cyberpunk 2077 account after 4 years of silence in that account, they only tweeted

BEEP, like they were turning the machines on to start with the advertising campaign, maybe?

It's funny, now looking back to when they said that the marketing campaign was already

designed because yesterday was January 10th, which means that this tweet comes exactly

5 years after they dropped the first teaser trailer for the game

And not only that, inside the trailer, when Network News 54 is talking about the cyberpsycho

attack, the date displayed for the news is also January 10th, in here a huge thanks to

Twinkie on Twitter, he's the one who brought the date in the teaser into my attention.

So I believe that is safe to assume that January 10th is a date of some relevance for this

game, apart from being 1D10, that is a roleplaying way of calling dice, 1D10 is when you roll

one of 10 sides, for those of you who don't know, the chances in pen and paper roleplaying games are set

Every moment you spend living is a moment you spend learning

Spend less time learning and more time living

with Raven IntelPlus brain implants

Reality redifined by Microcybernetics

rolling dice and the most common for these type of games are 4, 6, 10 and 20 sides,

and the 10 sides one is used in Cyberpunk 2020

But that's roleplaying nerd nonsense

And I looked like crazy if there was a significant event in the Cyberpunk lore that happened

on January 10th, and I just couldn't find it

And if someone can correct me in here please do it, leave a comment

Because according to the Shockwave sourcebook, the nuke that destroyed the Corporate Center

of Night City at the end of the 4th Corporate War was deployed more or less around late

December, early January but for the life of me that I couldn't find a specific date,

and I read both Firestorms and the third edition and I just couldn't find it

So the Beep on a Tweet marks how they are starting the engines, it all looks like the

marketing campaign that they had already developed is starting at last, and in previous interviews

CDPR said that they had an eye on how Bethesda managed the marketing of Fallout 4, which

is good news because if you remember Bethesda introduced Fallout 4 in 2015 E3 with a release

date the same year, so if CDPR is taking the example of Fallout 4 this might, and only

might, mean that we will see an E3 trailer with a release date this year, if it's true

that we just started the marketing campaign

A release date for this fall, at first instance, is hard to believe mostly for the games they

will be competing with here, like Detroit, that actually is not even close, but it's

also a dark sci-fi universe and someone who's not well versed can think is a similar game,

but on the other hand, they are always going to have competence, no matter when they release

the game, in fact the sales of the Witcher 3 for 2017, two years after its release, outgrossed

some of the biggest games for that year, so if they are expecting long term sales like

The Witcher 3, the direct competence on the release date is not an issue at all

And I know I didn't want to discuss the release date, but it's inevitable, and also

I have the theory that Cyberpunk would be a great console seller, would be the kind

of game that Sony or Microsoft would kill to use to sell their new consoles, for this

reason, I always believed that we wouldn't see the game until the next generation comes out

and also because of the photorealism of Cyberpunk 2077, I'm not sure if the PlayStation

4 can handle it, and it would be too risky to launch a game this big only for the Pro and the Scorpio

This leads us to a second point, because I'm not sure if you remember what Marcin Iwinski

said at CDPR Group Summer Conference in 2012

And the game is based on Mike Pondsmith pen and paper RPG system

I would also like to annouce that we're honored that Mike decided to work with us

we signed an exclusive licensing agreement basing on which

we'll be developing games in the Cyberpunk world

They will be developing games

Games in plural

Which makes Cyberpunk 2077 one of the more than one games that are going to be developed

in this universe

So, remember what else did Bethesda do for the launch of Fallout 4?

Yes, Fallout Shelter, a spin-off free-to-play minigame that, by the way, made impressive

numbers in micropayments, because minigames are a bigger business than most people think

This added to the information that we had from a leak from the Triple S League some

months ago about a minigame that CDPR was developing to be played inside Cyberpunk 2077,

gives us my theory that we will see a Cyberpunk 2077 spin-off free to play minigame, most

probably before the game is launched, like Bethesda did with their Fallout Shelter

And also in here I totally agree with Sybsidian of the Triple S that believes that they are

going to need to make a huge campaign to introduce the lore to the people that never played the

pen and paper game before, mostly because the universe is huge and SO rich, as some

of you already know I uploaded so far 16 lore videos around the universe of Cyberpunk 2077

to introduce people to this universe, and I didn't explain a fraction yet

I didn't even start with Megacorporations, the lore is massive, and some way or the other

they need to introduce the new audience to it

So we'll see, there was a rumor on Reddit that something important was going to be dropped

today at 6 pm I guess Polish time, which is the same than Spanish time, but while I'm

recording this nothing happened so we'll see

And if something happens you will see it in tomorrow's video or I will upload twice today

Go figure

Well, folks, thanks for watching, please leave a comment and let me know your conspirative

theories about this, I'd love to know them

See you in next videos and stay being amazing

"Ele seria uma espécie de Apóstolo Paulo no século XXI" - Duration: 5:40.

I really like Pastor Eli because he is very faithful in what God put him

and that attracts me a lot.

My name is Vicente Batista.

I was a pastor of the Foursquare Church, approximately, in leadership, for 32 to 33 years.

Another 4 or 5 years inside the church

as an auxiliary worker,

as an auxiliary pastor.

And in 1972,

I went to Itajubá for the first time.

and from Itajubá there I started the pilgrimage

in several Brazilian states.

From the north,

approximately near the Acre

to almost south of the country.

I went through several states and preached.

I did a lot of things.

Automatically both inside and outside the church.

Within Brazil, around about 36 years,

more or less.

I have nothing to speak against the Foursquare Gospel Church.

They are very open, very friendly, very liberal.

I have nothing against them.

The only difference is that I'm seeing

the difference in the balance sheets.

The real truth and the

ALMOST truth.

The Foursquare Church comes very close to reality,

but some bases out of Scripture.

The fundamentality of its preaching of the truth,

does not support that of what the Bible teaches.

So, many things are materially... materials.

I had retired, I had already left

and there was no church to go, because in no church I fit in.

If I were to look at Adventist, I have already taken a full Adventist course,

just to know.

If I went to Jehovah's Witnesses, I already did the full course, just to know.

Of the Mormons, ditto.

And several churches, including other churches that I did as well.

Then I saw that it's, more or less,

getting out of nowhere.

So I stayed home about a year and a half

to almost 2 years.

And in that time, I happen to be watching,

by chance on TV,

and discovered Brother Eli.

I found it interesting, in the first days that I was watching,

I saw deep sincerity in him

in his explanations.

I started to be very zealous for these things.

I also started to accompany what he is saying

because he himself says,

'I might as well be a false preacher'.

That's how he talks from time to time

so we have to keep up.

When I saw that it is fundamentally within Scripture and in the correct

and just doctrine of the word of God,

I began to understand that he would be

roughly like a kind of

21st century Apostle Paul.

He is an intelligent guy.

He is within the word, honest; faithful to God, faithful to doctrine,

faithful to the Bible,

faithful servant,

and this interested me a lot.

"We are here in the city of Poços de Caldas..."

Then when he scheduled to go to Poços de Caldas, I'm from there,

"My question is not actually a question..."

I participated in the first, second, third, fourth,

fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth.

I have been in Poços de Caldas 9 times.

I talked to him a few times there too.

- Do you understand, brother?

- Yes, I understood.

- Thanks be to God.

- I guess almost everyone understood as well.

- Thanks be to God!

- Thank you.

I really like Pastor Eli, because he is very faithful

in what God put him.

And that attracts me a lot.

I was very interested in being baptized and becoming a member of the Church.

Thank God,

I concluded, I came, I was baptized,

and I feel fulfilled,

and I see that the doctrine is really the truth.

Brother Vicente now attends in the seminary to be a worker in the Church of God.

Did Rats Start the Drug War? - Duration: 5:15.

- If there's one thing we all learned

growing up, it's that drugs are bad.

Like, really, really bad.

We've been taught that addiction is inevitable,

and that addicts are completely irrational.

But, you might be surprised to learn that

a lot of what we think we know about

drugs and addiction comes from a series of studies

done in the 1950s and '60s on rats.

It turns out what we think we know,

it might just be wrong.

This is Bruce Alexander.

- I'm a psychologist with Simon Fraser University

- [Man] Bruce has been studying addiction

for almost 50 years.

When he started back in the '70s,

there was a huge public concern about heroin use

and what many of the time described

as a growing epidemic.

- [Bruce] The view was that heroin was essentially

a demon drug.

If you took it a few times,

it would flip a switch in your brain

and you would be forever addicted.

That was it.

You were doomed.

When it was in the media, it was in the movies,

but in those days, there was also a primary

kind of research evidence that was used

to support this idea.

- [Man] Much of that research used animal studies.

Particularly laboratory rats.

Rats would be placed in really

small cages called "skinner boxes".

- [Bruce] A skinner box is a box which

is just about three times the size of a rat.

The experiments involved putting rats

in skinner boxes with a needle, which was

implanted in their jugular vein, so that

if the rat's pressed the little lever on the wall,

they would get a little surge

of heroin in their bloodstream.

- [Man] Press the pedal, get a shot of heroin.

Press the pedal, get another shot.

- [Bruce] And in some cases,

they just kept pumping heroin into themselves

to the point where they forgot to eat and would die.

- [Man] Beliefs about rat studies would find

their way into PSAs and Hollywood films

and they would become part of our collective

understanding of just how dangerous these drugs really were.

- [Bruce] These experiments seem to show

that any creature, including even the lowly rat,

if given access to heroin, would simply take

lots and lots of it.

- [Man] But Bruce had another idea.

- [Bruce] What these experiments really show

is that rats, who are in solitary confinement,

will take lots of heroin.

- [Man] See, rats are very social animals.

Rats don't normally spend their lives

in harnesses with catheters shoved in their necks.

They prefer playing with other rats,

running around, doing rat stuff.

- [Bruce] To put a rat in a skinner box,

is to make this very, very social creature

live a life of solitary confinement.

- [Man] Bruce and his colleagues wondered

if maybe these rats were taking so many drugs

because they were living in such an unnatural environment.

So he organized his own rat experiment,

but with some important differences.

Most notably, he built a much bigger enclosure for them.

- About half as big as my garage floor,

as a matter of fact.

- [Man] Bruce and his colleagues filled it with

everything a rat could want.

Food, running wheels, and other rats to play with.

He called it, "Rat Park".

His team put a group of rats in the park,

and another group of rats in solitary cages.

They made morphine freely available to both.

The results were eye-opening.

Giving the choice between plain water and morphine,

the Rat Park residents chose the water.

It's not like the rats in Rat Park totally

abstained from morphine, but--

- [Bruce] You could say that they acted more or less

like human recreational users of morphine.

- [Man] Bruce and his colleagues even tried

an experiment where the rats in cages were given

nothing but morphine laced with water to drink

for 57 days straight.

- In other words, we made sure they

were good and addicted, in terms of the

conventional expectation, everyone of those

rats should have been addicted for

the rest of its life.

- [Man] But when they were placed in Rat Park,

those same addicted rats generally chose

to drink the plain water, and voluntarily

went through withdrawal.

- [Bruce] People were shocked that the rats

in Rat Park had so little interest in morphine.

- [Man] The Rat Park studies suggested a much more

complex picture of addiction than the many

people had suspected.

Addiction wasn't simply a story of chemicals

rewiring our brains, or high-jacking

our reward centers.

Other factors like environment, feeling of isolation,

or hopelessness, poor social bonds, and lack of control

all likely play an important role in

what leads to addiction.

Think about the implications for

how we've been treating drug addicts.

They're often shamed and ostracized,

thrown in jail, moved to the halfway houses,

instead of intergrating them into society.

You could say that we're kind of isolating them in cages

like rats.

Doesn't seem like such a great idea.

And more importantly, it doesn't seem like it's working.

At the time it was published, the Rat Park study

was largely ignored, but it's finally starting to

gain traction today.

- It's literally taken 35 years for the Rat Park experiment

to find its way into the popular understanding of addiction.

- [Man] In recent years, other researchers

have replicated Bruce's studies,

and conducted new ones of their own,

adding to our increasingly complex

understanding of addiction.

And that's great.

With concerns over drugs and addictions

still dominating the headlines today,

a careful analysis and understanding of the

research is more vital now than ever.

After all, we're never going to get the treatment right

if we're getting the diagnosis wrong.

10 Business English Expressions You Need To Know | Vocabulary - Duration: 12:48.

Hello! I'm Emma from mmmEnglish.

English in the workplace.

At work, in the office.

Knowing the idioms, phrasal verbs

and unique vocabulary that's

used in these professional contexts is so important!

I'll admit that there is a lot to learn there.

But today I want to focus on some really common,

very useful expressions that you'll hear often at work

and in these professional contexts .

At the office. With your colleagues.

With your boss. With your clients, your customers.

In interviews, speaking exams, with your teacher

or your university professor.

If you haven't already noticed, you'll soon realise

that the office is where idioms and English expressions

go wild.

At times it feels like people only speak

using idioms and slang.

So whether you're flat out, getting off-track,

losing your train of thought or banking on an early finish,

these 10 essential business English expressions

will help you to sound more natural and confident

at work.

Learning these expressions is essential

and a fantastic way to hear them being used in context

is by listening to audiobooks.

I use Audible to listen to books all the time

and I've teamed up with them to offer you a free trial,

a free audiobook for 30 days,

so that you can try it out yourself!

I've been using Audible for years now

but while I don't often have time to sit and read a book,

I can listen while I'm driving

or while I'm going for a run or I'm waiting for the train.

So they offer a really fantastic solution

to keep practising your English and for this lesson,

I've listed some fantastic books relating to business

in the description box below.

So you can check out my recommendations for Audible

right there.

So let's start with "flat out".

If you're "flat out", you're incredibly busy,

you have lots to do,

so much that you can't stop to have a break.

I'll be flat out next week

because there's a new shipment arriving.

I've been flat out all week, I'm exhausted!

In Australia where I'm from, we might also use

"flat chat".

It's used in exactly the same way

to mean that someone is very busy.

Train of thought.

Have you ever been talking about something and then

completely forgotten what you're talking about

and why you're talking about it.

It happens to me more often than I'd like to admit

but this happens when your train of thought

gets distracted by something else.

The clear progression of your thoughts are stopped

by something.

So the expression that you'll most commonly hear is

"Oh! I've lost my train of thought!

What was I talking about?"

I've lost my train of thought.

My mum called and

completely disrupted my train of thought.

Can I ask you a question?

Just give me a minute,

I don't want to disrupt my train of thought.

Now if you lose your train of thought you'll need to

get back on track.

If something is on track, it's happening as it should be

there's no problem at all.

If something is not happening as you planned and

you want to change it, you want to get back on track.

We missed the deadline last week,

but we've just submitted the report now,

so we're getting back on track.

Are you on track to complete the report

by the end of the week?

So logically, if something is not on track it's not

happening as it should be, then you're off track.

Imagine this, you're busy, you're flat out,

and you have to attend a meeting about a project

that you're working on.

But the people at the meeting are not prepared

and the conversation is just going everywhere!

People are talking about their kids, what they had for

dinner last night, any other issue

except what you should be talking about.

So you decide to interrupt the conversation and say:

We're getting off track here guys.

We've only got ten more minutes left

and we need to confirm the marketing budget.

It's used to say that a person or a group of people

have become distracted from their main purpose.

They've lost their focus.

That's just like my aunt Mary actually,

she does it all the time!

She lives on her own which is probably why

but her house is beautiful and she's got

the dogs to keep her company.

Sorry, I'm getting off track!

Here are a few more examples.

It's difficult to stay on track with so many disruptions,

perhaps we should move to the conference room.

I don't want to get off track, but we can all agree that the

new marketing manager is difficult to get along with.

We should have completed the work by now,

but the team got off track with some technical issues.

This idiom also has a literal meaning.

To get lost or lose your direction.

To literally get off the track and here,

a track means a path or a road.

So if you're off the track, you're not on the road,

on the path that you need to be on.

To bank on.

To bank on something means to bet

that something will happen in a certain way.

To be really sure

or confident that something will happen

So for example.

I'm banking on Sarah to get a promotion,

so that I can apply for her position.

Since it's a public holiday on Monday,

we're banking on an early finish tonight.

It can also be used in a negative sentence,

often advising someone against something.

I wouldn't bank on it.

That means it's not a good idea

to assume that it will happen.

To brush up on.

This is a phrasal verb, but one that's idiomatic

and it means to update or to improve your skills

in some way.

It can be used in any context really, formal or informal,

but this expression is

so useful in a professional context

because sometimes it can be a little awkward or

embarrassing to say that you don't have fantastic skills

in one area.

Right?

But by saying that you need to brush up on those skills

is a much softer way of saying that you're

not that good at something but you are willing to

practise or study to improve those skills.

I'm brushing up on my Italian

because I've got a business trip in July.

I got the job at the publishing company!

But I really need to brush up on my editing skills.

I'm out of practice!

To bring something to the table.

So this idiom means to provide something

that will be of benefit. Something useful.

And it's often used in a professional context

to describe the skills or experience that someone

brings to a team or to a company.

The great thing about Sam is that she brings

years of management experience to the table.

See how the "something" in our structure is

a noun phrase here.

This is really common with this expression.

He brings excellent communication skills and

award-winning design experience to the table.

But during a meeting you might also hear

someone use this expression.

What have you brought to the table?

And that means what suggestions or ideas did you

bring to the meeting, can you offer to the people

in the meeting.

To bring up.

Now this is a very common phrasal verb.

You've probably heard it before.

It means to mention or introduce a topic.

Someone can bring something up during a meeting,

a call or a casual conversation.

I'll bring it up with Stephanie when I see her next week.

Our presentation is missing some of the key points.

So I'm going to bring it up with the team tomorrow,

we can spend some more time on it.

To turn down.

Again, this is another common phrasal verb

but it's also idiomatic.

It means to say no to something or refuse something.

They offered me tickets to the conference,

but I had to turn them down

because it's my son's birthday.

He turned it down

because they offered him the promotion,

but told him that they couldn't increase his salary.

I applied for the position but then I found out

I had to spend six months of the year

living in New Zealand. So I had to turn them down.

Now when you do something without planning

or preparing for it,

there are a couple of useful expressions

that you can use.

You can say that you'll "wing it".

My presentation's on my laptop,

which I left at home, I'll just have to wing it.

If you haven't received the notes,

you'll just have to wing it.

Usually this idiom suggests that you didn't really plan it

to be that way but for some reason,

you're under-prepared.

If you do something that's off-the-cuff,

you're doing something without preparing for it

but you're kind of comfortable with that

you're cool with that.

I wish that I was confident enough to make

presentations off-the-cuff,

I spend so much time

planning for our monthly board meetings.

Paul won an award last night

and made a fantastic speech totally

totally off-the-cuff!

Well that's it for this lesson,

I hope you learnt some new expressions.

Remember that these expressions are often used in a

professional context

but not only in a professional context.

You'll often hear them used in casual, informal contexts

as well, so they're good ones to learn and practise.

Q Anon "Learn to Read the Map" - Duration: 2:22.

Q Anon Learn to Read the Map

by Therese Zumi Sumner

TZ here; It has been suggested to me that this video might be of interest to the PFC

readers.

There are some interesting maps shown in this video, some of them you may have seen

before as they are several years old.

Frankly I find this black and white map which connects just about every single phenomenon

you can think of to cause confusion.

You would have to be extremely well versed and aware of the real truth to understand

it.

I want to point this out because Cobra reminded us that the Q Anon information could be relied

upon to the amount of 70%.

We are most definitely headed for a long-needed reform on this planet.

The so called swamp will be drained of that you need have no doubt.

Remember that the information that we often hear is very often exaggerated.

I totally understand the need for us to know that things are happening.

There are arrests and indictments happening, however you must take a large pinch of salt

with everything you read.

Remember always that the cabal are also reading and following everything that people like

Ben Fulford and David Wilcock are telling us, and they can see to it that Benjamins

Pentagon sources e.g. are fed with false info to report to him.

The battle rages at every level.

A reminder here that the much spoken about arrests of the Saudi princes was not the Light

Alliance taking down the dark but simply the one dark group throwing the other dark group

under the bus but then you knew that, didnt you?

The intuitive listening to the heart reader will know when the truth is real or manipulated.

Perhaps you remember that I have stated years ago that Jesuits will throw the Illuminazi

faction under the bus in order to survive.

Liam Cunningham Talks New Show, 'Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams' - Duration: 4:12.

Let me introduce Philip K Dick, who was

passed away a number of years ago. But you will know his work. He wrote the book

that 'Blade Runner' was based on. He also wrote 'Total Recall' amongst many others.

But he had a bank of beautiful short stories and the fine people at Amazon

and Channel 4 in the UK got together, banged their heads together and came up

with 10 gorgeous stories – five shot in the US, five shot in the UK – and these lovely

people included one man you may know called Bryan Cranston. Mister "Breaking Bad"

himself. Mister "Malcolm in the Middle." He's one of the producers on the show and he

saw fit in his madness to have me in the the one episode that he is doing.

The episode is called "Human Is" and we have the gorgeous Essie Davis and the main

thing in this is the relationship between Bryan Cranston and Essie Davis

Bryan and Essie both work for me. I'm a general – General Olin – who's... he's kind

of a good guy but he's a bit of a powerful character and it is this

futuristic tale of what it means to be human,

which is one of Philip K Dick's extraordinary talents.

People use the well-worn clichéd phrase

of "dystopian future." Yeah, I don't think many people

are using a phrase that I possibly would use now which is "dystopian

present." It's getting kind of ugly at the moment. I mean things... people

are being polarized. There seems to be a lack of a center ground

anymore. It's a disease that seems to be growing right around the world and

and the first thing that happens is people tend to – if you'll excuse the

expression – build walls, either around themselves or around their countries or around

their thinking.

One of the best moments in cinema I ever had was the first

showing of "Total Recall,"

the original one with Schwarzenegger. And I'll never forget it I was on the front

row of this cinema with this band of... This was when Arnie was at the height of his

powers, and I remember that when the music started, these huge kettle drums,

and it was Andrew Vanja and Mario Kassar, and it was like the old Superman

titles they came from the package and then Arnold Schwarzenegger name came up.

Present Arnold Schwarzenegger. I've never seen so many boxes of popcorn, screaming

at the screen the whole lot and I looked around I nearly collapsed and he pissed

myself laughing that was just that and everybody went there over the top and it

was the beginning of "Total Recall." It was one of the moments where I just kind of

went, "Man, cinema is a wonderful thing," this collective thing in this room. And so

Mister Philip K Dick has given me enormous pleasure over the years.

There's an old cliché

that artists have an obligation to hold a mirror up to society and I love the

idea of setting up these... or being involved with shows that kind of

creator a world that doesn't exist. For instance with the other show that

you may have heard of – "Game of Thrones" – we have dragons and shadow babies and

all sorts of strange and weird Night Kings and just strange stuff but it is a

world that we inhabit and it's as real as possible, we try to make it as real as

possible and that particular show is about these huge almost

Shakespearean ideas of power. And then something like 'Philip K Dick's

Electric Dreams' is about something that's near and dear to us all and that

is "What does it mean for us to be human?" So to use that world to show

those kind of stories I think is incredibly important and I think with

the popularity of those it's something that people crave for.

if you don't pick up the pace you gonna be left behind I'm amazed that the

people that lack the flexibility to pick up the pace they just get in a read I

scroll down here and I'm gonna scroll back and go stroll over here and go

the faith if you have to catch the bus keep the faith if you have to keep the

society are people who broke the rules you know there was no presidents for

24-hour news cycles until Ted Turner did it there's so many people who got out of

the box look at Apple and the birth of the whole notion of Apple or Nike I

talked about in the book of the birthing of that corporation how they did

something with the tennis shoe that had never been done before if you only base

your decisions on empirical data you can only repeat what somebody else already

did if you follow your instincts and your own god-given creativity if we can

go where we have not been before notice when your faith is the strongest you

come up under the greatest attack because every time that you're about to

walk into who you be you're gonna do something and he's trying to stop you

from doing it slap somebody say just do it

Trustin deep toiya because the shooters who you are as well he'll is breaking

loose if my wife forgot something to do that's why I keep going through storms

and be strong and very courageous be strong and very courageous be strong and

be of good courage be strong and pull Sicily because God knows that for what

you're going to do it is not by outer strength

you understand you understand she help me preach this thing this morning girl

it's inner strength so my fourth one is you got to have inner strength for this

fight it's not your outer strength it's not by might nor by power but by my

spirit saith the Lord so you gotta have that inner that inner

that inner that come strength and delos strength that temple define come hell or

high water strip that roll me out in front of them and our preach from a

chair strip that's audacity to take a lickin and keep on tickin that inner

strength that will I take do as I would I'm gonna do as I can but I'm not will

stop doing zipper to my ability

stro strong to be planted is destiny conceal to have increase is destiny

reveal so when you plant a seed you don't plant it as if the planting were

the final destination you plant it and you can't see it anymore

it's destiny is concealed in the hopes that ultimately it will become a stalk

of corn or an apple tree or whatever it was you plant it and in between the

destiny conceal and the destiny reveal is something we call watering and I

thought as dynamic as the text maybe to crumple with the notion of being planted

and to grumble with the notion of having increase seems totally irrelevant if we

don't stop by the station of watering because watering is the last step before

increase it is the transition point between what is concealed and what is

revealed and without the benefit of watering this the the destiny will die

in the ground never reaching its potential simply because it has never

been watered and I thought I would ask you this morning have you ever been

watered I'm reading somebody's mail right now

you cannot embrace what I'm about to teach if you don't understand that you

have been planted you didn't grow wild you didn't just happen you aren't just

an afterthought you didn't just come to be you were planted the sperm cell that

created you I'll swam all of the millions of other

cells before you had a Bible before you had a Bible before you had a hymnbook

you are already in a fight and that cell elsewhere of all the rest because you

have been planted well I want to make the distinction about being planted

because the act of planting can be confusing to the student who has not

watched because planting looks no different from burial

in order to do a the one of them you got to do some digging and once you dig down

in the ground both of them are concealed but one of them has a destiny and the

other one does not you bury the dead to get rid of the body

but you plant a seed so that it can go through a transformation of coming back

up greater than it was when it went down I look good God reversal that's so good

I'm gonna come over here and say it again when you plant a seed

you're not burying it to get rid of it you're planting it so that it can go

through a metamorphosis and come back up better than it was when it went down how

many people in this room has come up better than you were

I'm better I'm better I'm better than a walls want to went down it was good for

me that I've been afflicted for had not been afflicted I would have never known

I'm better for it I didn't like it but I'm better for it

I couldn't see down there but I'm better for it you said I was planted in a dark

place where my sight didn't work for me but I'm better for every time you go

through something dark and you can't see your way out remember you've been

planted not been buried at when you karma

I'm coming up I'm coming up brother right here on the come up and said

brother right here on the come up is there any sisters in here on the come

up related families in here on the come up are they preachers in here on the

karma you already been through hell already been through hot water already

been planted already been in a dark place but just cuz I'm in a dark place

don't expect me to stay in a dark place brother right here

write yourself a note I have not been buried I have been planted I may be

underground but I'm not buried in this mess I'm planted in it

I'm planted in it and if I'm planted in it expect me to come back up again and

when I come back up you won't recognize me because I'm going to be transformed

by the experiences that I had to do

How Kodak Discovered Radioactive Rain - Duration: 5:26.

[♪ INTRO]

In July 1945, a group of scientists gathered in New Mexico and began a new age of science

by detonating a nuclear bomb.

It was called the Trinity test and was part of the larger Manhattan Project, which successfully

developed nuclear technology for World War II.

But there were also some unexpected consequences.

For example, the radioactive particles from the bomb test

went into places no one had thought of.

Like into the rainwater more than 1600 kilometers away in Indiana.

Almost no one knew about this until years later in the 1990s, when the National Cancer

Institutes started releasing reports about it.

No one, that is, except the Kodak camera company.

It all started when Kodak customers began returning their X-Ray films because they were unusable.

The films had been fogged; that is, they looked like they had already been exposed.

Which isn't helpful if you're trying to diagnose a patient.

First, people guessed that the fogging was caused by the radioactive element radium,

since it could trigger and expose X-Ray films if it managed to get into the package.

And, since radium was a lot more common back then, it seemed like an easy target.

At the time, we didn't really understand how bad playing with radioactive material was.

So radium appeared in all kinds of stuff, like radium paint, which was used to make

glow in the dark watches up until the 1960s.

Kodak was already taking precautions to keep contamination down, but just in case, a company

researcher named Julian Webb started looking into it.

And he found that the radiation wasn't from anything inside the package,

it was in the packaging itself.

The kind of radiation didn't even match radium, or anything else in nature.

Which was probably not that comforting.

For one, it was made of the wrong kind of particles.

Radium mainly emits what's called alpha radiation,

which are clumps of two neutrons and two protons.

Meanwhile, the radiation from the packaging was mostly beta radiation,

which is made up of single electrons.

Also, the half-life of the radiation was wrong.

Half-life is a measure of how long it takes half of something radioactive

to decay into something else.

It can vary from milliseconds to thousands of years,

and it's different for every isotope of every element.

The radiation Webb measured did not have radium's half-life, which is about 1600 years.

The half-life in the packaging was roughly 31 days, which is a little different.

So, whatever was in the packaging definitely wasn't radium.

By comparing his measurements to other sources of radiation, Webb eventually linked it to

an isotope of cerium, called cerium-141, which has one more neutron than normal.

He then traced that to a specific paper mill in Indiana,

and to a specific production run from that August.

Since the raw materials in the mill were stored indoors and away from any source of radioactivity,

Webb knew that couldn't be the problem.

But, he did notice the paper mill was right next to a river,

and that contamination was worse after heavy rain.

Eventually, Webb made the connection: The radioactive particles were in the rain, and

were being deposited into the river.

And ultimately, he connected that to the Trinity test in New Mexico.

He didn't actually publish his findings until four years later, in 1949 in the journal

Physical Review, so it isn't clear how long it took him to make the connection.

But once he realized the rain was radioactive,

and that the film problems started just a few weeks after the Trinity test,

it couldn't have taken him that long to put two and two together.

And we know he was right.

When a nuclear bomb goes off, it throws a huge number of particles into the air, a lot

of which are radioactive, like cerium-141.

They're also small and light enough to be carried on the wind.

There, they mix with water vapor and get caught in clouds.

When it rains, down go the radioactive particles, and your umbrella just won't cut it.

Since it falls out of the air, this kind of radiation is called fallout, and it's the

same thing happened in Hiroshima, Japan, after World War II.

There, some called it the "Black Rain" because of all the soot that also fell in

the rainwater.

Now, even though Webb kept his discovery from the public for years, and no one's positive

why, he was still one of the first citizens to find evidence of it.

Which isn't what usually comes to mind when you think of a camera company.

Of course, because we didn't understand how dangerous radiation was, and because people

thought nuclear bombs were really important, his paper didn't do much to slow testing.

Several years later, in 1951, the American government detonated more test bombs in Nevada.

And in New York, more than 3200 kilometers away, a Geiger counter in the Kodak office

detected the fallout after a big snowstorm.

Which is… concerning.

And unfortunately, those storms came with consequences.

The National Cancer Institute estimated that the fallout from those tests could have caused

tens of thousands of cases of lung and thyroid cancer from molecules like cerium-141 and

iodine-131, another radioactive particle from the bombs.

Thankfully, the United States hasn't conducted above-ground nuclear tests like that since

the 1960s, so these days, you only have to look out for regular rain.

But these nuclear tests are also an important reminder that, as we're exploring new kinds

of science, it's important that we understand the consequences as best we can,

and that we take them seriously.

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow!

MOST ECO-FRIENDLY RESORT IN THAILAND? Tongsai Bay (Sustainable Earth Ep. 2) - Duration: 6:49.

In the last episode of my Sustainable Earth series, I told you that I found some eco-friendly

hotels to check out thanks to the website Green Pearls who specializes in finding sustainable

accommodations around the world, ones that actually care about protecting the environment

and local culture.

In this episode, I flew to Koh Samui, Thailand, where I stayed at one of the most impressive

eco-conscious hotels I've ever seen, The Tongsai Bay.

Welcome to Tongsai Bay.

How was your journey?

It was good.

We will take care of your luggage.

Well thank you.

First off, because I love to show how sustainability and style go hand-in-hand, I want to kick

off this episode by showing you the design of the hotel rooms.

Okay so this should be nice, I'm excited to see what it looks like.

Okay listen, this is where I will be every day while I'm here.

How cute is this you guys?

They are flower made out of fruit.

It's like literally rose petals made out of watermelon.

Next up, Hong, the Chief Environmentalist of Tongsai Bay, gave me a tour of their organic

garden, where I discovered that everything from the flowers in my room, to the décor

in the spas, and even the food that I ate were for the most part, organically grown

right there in their garden.

We've got the Chief Environmentalist and the Chief Gardener here showing us around the

organic garden at Tongsai Bay.

Very excited to see what they're doing and the waves they're making in sustainability.

The garden is huge.

They grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices, and all without the use of pesticides.

Instead they use biological pest control methods.

For example they've created effective insect traps to keep the bugs out.

Another method they use is shielding some of their produce from insects by keeping them

covered.

Guys this is really really incredible.

I mean I always try to look for hotels that practice sustainable habits but it's really

hard sometimes because you'll have a lot of hotels that will claim to be sustainable and

really all they're doing is encouraging guests to turn off the lights when they're done or

not change the sheets every day, but i mean this hotel is legit.

I mean they are really serious about the environment and practicing sustainability and I'd say

they're probably at the forefront of engaging in a lot of sustainable eco-friendly practices

that a lot of hotels don't do.

And you can tell that the staff is really passionate about the environment, you know,

they're not just doing it for their bottom line, they're not just doing it to attract

people who are interested in sustainability, they're not just doing it to hop on a trend,

they're doing it because they genuinely care for the environment, the animals, everything,

I mean their efforts are incredible.

And they just cut down a papaya from their tree so I'm pretty happy.

You know me, I love fruit.

It's right in the bag.

So thank you.

I appreciate that.

They cut the papaya from the garden for me, thank you so much.

Ooh this is fresh papaya too.

I'm excited.

Look at this.

Yesss, nom noms.

Very sweet, thank you.

Hong also explained to me the 7 principles of Tongsai Bay's Green Project.

Their environmental and social sustainability practices include: 1.

the preservation and care of animals and plants.

They even have a strict employee termination policy if they harm animals or cut plants

on the property.

They also provide water ponds and even seek medical treatment for any injured animals

they find.

2.

Waste minimization.

For example, I noticed some of the very creative ways they turned their recyclables into products,

like the artwork that that comes from recycled paper or this old bathtub they reused for

gardening.

3.

Energy conservation – they even have these cute little solar jar lamps.

4.

Water management and conservation, which means they've designed their bathrooms to save

water and also have an impressive system for treating ground and tap water.

5.

Air and noise pollution reduction, meaning they focus on things like reducing greenhouse

gas emissions and encouraging a more quiet and peaceful environment.

6.

Reduction of hazardous substances and chemicals.

While I was touring the organic garden, I went inside their composting house where I

found lots of examples of eco-friendly products they create for cleaning.

And lastly number 7.

Sustainability Awareness.

A sustainable hotel is really only as green as its staff and guests, so they work hard

to educate the staff on environmental practices and encourage guests to do their part as well.

Now what about food?

I follow a sustainable vegan diet, and I never had any issues in Thailand finding vegan food.

Ginger juice, very good, very fresh.

Tongsai Bay had plenty of vegan-friendly options for me.

And I even went to Thai Curry Pot night, where they were able to prepare meatless curry dishes

for me.

Okay first curry dish is served, it's green curry and they gave me brown rice, white rice,

and noodles, to try it with.

And they also put tofu in it.

Mmmm.

Yum.

Okay just checked out of the resort, super sad I'm definitely going to miss this place.

It's one of the most sustainable resorts I've ever stayed at and because my flight is so

early and I had to leave before breakfast, they packed me breakfast and put it in a paper

bag of course.

So I'm going to go to the airport and I'm going to chow down on this breakfast and catch

my flight, bye guys.

If you liked this episode of my Sustainable Earth series, make sure to give it a thumbs

up and subscribe for more videos where I show you how to live and adventurously green life.
