what's up cruisers this trip is happening we are at LAX it's early in
the morning it's not even 7:30 and today we are flying to Fort Lauderdale to stay
at the Embassy Suites so we're here in the JetBlue terminal and they just
started boarding so we are gonna go jump on the plane and check in with you again
later we're so excited to vlog our Caribbean Princess cruise with you guys
so we're on the flight and they think now I know why they call it JetBlue
there's really pretty blue lights actually we're did white lights though
they kind of like make everything glow neon I feel like my sweatshirt strings
like glowing neon but I wanted to like us a little bit about our pre cruise
experience what we're doing today so we drove from our home to Los Angeles last
night and we got a park and stay package for about two hundred and seventy nine
dollars at the Westin LAX it was a really great experience really nice room
so the staff was super nice it wasn't crowded at all you parked right in the
covered parking lot everything was super so we got that all squared away and had
dinner in the restaurant at the Westin Long Beach was actually just really
really expensive that I do not necessarily recommend the food was good
but there was nothing under $20 really on the menu we're talking about a
hamburger that was like 19 bucks but it was a great experience then we jumped in
the shuttle from the Westin LAX over to the airport this morning and now we're
on our flight getting ready to go in a day early for our cruise which is
leaving in tomorrow out of Fort Lauderdale so we'll keep you posted
the way
we made it to Fort Lauderdale yeah we had an awesome flight it was sunny when
we left and it's sunny when we got here everything went really smoothly we did
it had a interesting experience with our luggage we gate checked our bags at the
Los Angeles Airport and to our surprise when you get check your bags they
actually send them to the carousel well back in the old days when we used to fly
more they used to have your bag is waiting for you right when you got off
the plane so we were a little disappointed in that however it was
pretty prompt we only waited about 15 minutes and everything's still in one
piece our luggage tags are completely missing from one of the bags just kind
of a mystery but we made it were here we're happy we didn't have to carry
anything and we are in sunny beautiful 81 degree Florida going to the Embassy
Suites with our wonderful driver here I'm gonna check out the hotel and maybe
hit the happy hour whoa we made it to our room at the Embassy Suites we're in
room nine one nine on the ninth floor we asked for a room with a view of the
ships and we got really lucky I know you probably can't see them very well
they're a little blown out right now behind me but the hall in America ship
is leaving right now it's sail away time it's about gosh I think it's probably
five o'clock on the nose so those ships are gonna start having their sail away
parties and we're gonna have our little party because guess what the Embassy
Suites offers they have half-hour from 5:30 to 7:30 so free drinks snacks for
kids sodas for kids so children are welcome
families are welcome really excited to check that out and we're gonna go to the
grocery store we forgot a few things as usual and left a few heavy things home
at purpose so we're gonna on purpose excuse me so we're gonna walk over to
Publix and explore that hopefully before it gets dark if we run out of time we
might do that tomorrow we will see and we're just waiting for my mom to get in
on her flight and to come give us a big pre cruise hug
let's go check out all right we're on the ship and we're climbing the stairs
from deck 6 to 10 my mom took the elevator or we're taking the steps and
we're gonna go see if our room is ready embarkation was really really smooth and
I'm already out of breath I mean this is tips but huge props to Port Everglades
for being a super super smooth of our case report okay we're taking a first
look at room C 107 it's right there at the very end of the corridor this is the
front of the ship some kind of crew door and let's see if this key works mama
here is our beautiful balcony closet robes
boo slippers nice let's see what awaits us here hello yay
so exciting the room is so pretty and a personal do a real official room tour
now I want to take a look at the balcony it looks so big from inside we are on
the Caribe deck which is also known as deck 10
and this is one of the top cupboard and half uncovered balconies so when we take
a look off the balcony in a moment you'll see what I mean look at the size
of this that was really good
Table two lounge chairs and again you can see it is half burning up on
and just right up there is the bridge so we look down to the deck below as the
dolphin up you'll see that the cabins aren't fully exposed but
all the decks above us are only covered welcome aboard Caribbean princess so
this morning went by so fast everybody that we didn't really get a chance to
talk to you guys about our pre cruise stay at the Embassy Suites in Fort
Lauderdale I actually do recommend it it's a great hotel the rooms are all
suites and have a separate sitting area with a dining table and a separate
bedroom which is really really nice however I do want to say that I would
give a cruisers who are saying about two hotel a little bit of advice if you're
anything like me and you like to get to the port quickly from the hotel in the
morning I would caution you against using their shuttles first of all they
charge for their shuttles they're ten dollars per person and then they what
they do is they put you in the shuttle and they make you wait and I don't
really like to do that so we in hindsight would have taken a cab instead
of waiting in a hot shuttle that they did an air-conditioned for at least the
first 15 minutes of waiting probably would do things a little bit differently
so it's just a word of advice if you're staying at the Embassy Suites but the
hotel is great they do have complimentary breakfast that's not the
best part though the breakfast is just okay but I will say that their happy
hour is the bomb it is from 5:30 to 7:30 and I do believe it's every night of the
week but please don't quote me on that be sure to check it out and they do
offer free cocktails drinks and some snacks so last night they were serving
things like hummus and vegetables and chips and things like that we did not
have any food instead we ordered a room service and I have to give their pizza a
huge thumbs up my son order the kids pizza and it was really good so
definitely recommend that hotel and wanted to make sure we shared with you
guys kind of what our perceptions were of that experience even though we're
already on the ship today but we're trying to get used to the time change so
we didn't really get up super early this morning and start vlogging and we had
some environmental issues we had lots of wind on our patio and you wouldn't have
been able to hear me talking at all and then just everything was really moving
very quickly with the shuttle situation except for the whole waiting part and
then getting into the port moved really really fast and there was just no time
to stop and film so please forgive me guys but we are on board and so excited
so my mom and son are in the room just next door to us we are the very front of
the ship here on Caribbean princess we're in the Caribe deck
10 as I mentioned and really excited to have a balcony for this voyage and get
relaxed so let's go explore this ship shall we here's the screens everybody's
talking about they're wired for the ocean medallion of course this ship is
not live yet with a medallion but all the screens are here so eventually
you'll probably able to interact with these screens on every floor a little
bit more so we decided to come to the main dining room instead of the buffet
on embarkation day today just because we're in the mood to kind of avoid the
crowds and because the dining room office hours
start at 1:30 so we want to check on getting our table reassign and we
thought hey we'll be close to that area so we'll show you our food when it comes
but it looks tasty a little bit of a limited menu today but some really nice
choices of appetizers entrees desserts and they're offering the pull kids menu
as well
there's always reason to be suspicious when there is an empty pool on
embarkation Day in warm beautiful sunny Florida and that's because it's ice-cold
hopefully they'll warm it up a little bit but those hot tubs are looking
pretty inviting so we're a couple hours away from sail away and getting really
excited really pumped for the sail away party yay check it again we'll help you
sail away is happening yay this is like our second sail away on our balcony we
had our first sail away up on the pool deck so much fun I lost my voice because
I was shouting and having a blast with a cruise staff they are so sweet we're so
excited to spend more time with Rachel and all the other awesome people on
boards so we are a little bit thrown off because we had a late sail away today
there was a medical emergency on board and they're waiting for some provisions
so it is now currently 5:30 and we're supposed to be at dinner right now
because we actually did not have success changing our dining times so the plan is
for us to head up to the Platinum lounge and grab a couple of discounted
cocktails and snacks and then to try planks for dinner let's hope it works
out if it doesn't work out we might end up at the buffet but it's a beautiful
night gorgeous sail away no rain even though there is rain in the forecast and
we are going to just try to relax and get into the get into the groove here
before tomorrow very exciting day tomorrow we're going to princess keys
I'm stoked we rented a Cabana we're getting in at
10:00 a.m. and we're just really excited to experience the island and the whole
Cabana routine so hopefully some some beach day R&R tomorrow we will see you
at dinner
things are rockin and rollin in skywalker's tonight it's our favorite
place on the ship for the Platinum lounge so we're enjoying some chips and
guacamole tonight and marinated vegetables have quite a spread for the
snacks in the Platinum lunch night and lots of selections of drinks you can get
about eight different cocktails but my drink of the day is the good old Nora
Dora which is in a martini glass and it's
Beefeater gin Chambord black raspberry lime juice and topped with ginger ale so
let's give it a taste together this is art cruisetipstv tradition cyhoeddus so
good love it I was in mood for kind of a sweeter cocktail tonight and this
definitely fits the bill my mom got the cherry blossom garden and it's beautiful
it's served in kind of like a tall glass very pretty so I totally missed dinner
tonight because sail away was late so our plan is to go see if we can get in
two planks so let's go give it a try welcome to wigs $12 a person massive
amount of delicious barbecue let's see a great event table so far it's not
looking good there's nobody around and there's nobody in the restaurant but
promising
welcome to planks for the record it is no problem to get a table here on
embarkation night and we definitely recommend it so for $12 a person and
we'll show you this menu alone a little bit greater detail later you get your
choice of starter so you either get a wedge salad or some baked potato chowder
with all kinds of yummy stuff on it and then you get a choice of four meats on
your plank or you can share them for the table they'll combine them and you get
like twelve planks and then you get a choice of desserts so yummy yummy lots
to offer we will be sure to show you all the stuff as it comes out they also have
a special cocktail menu here and you can get a Lynchburg lemonade mint julep
sweet and smoky Rita which is what our waitress recommend for me because it's
not too sweet back porch strawberry mojito Texas Bloody Mary or a Kentucky
flower so let's taste the sweet and smoky Rita that's apparently not so
sweet oh my goodness Cheers that is amazing so I have here
tri-tip this one is sliced beef this one is Reeves food pork collar slow garlic
bread there is meat bones these one is calico three beans
apple cider sauce bourbon sauce so we have here in college now this one is
calico three beans I put the educate ship after matically
maybe you like it is only apple cider sauce bourbon sauce whole pork so nice
tri-tip sausages endemic both we're wrapping up our first day it went by so
fast planks BBQ was so fun such a great thing to do on the first night it's
really mellow really quiet you get great service on the first night definitely
something that I would recommend of course the main dining room is also a
lot of fun but we had a great time the food was good the cocktails were good in
the service was excellent so tomorrow it's our big day princess keys we have
our bungalow rental but if you're not getting a bungalow there is so much to
do you can do a banana boat ride go fishing you can go snorkeling you can
rent a clam shell on the beach you can even just rent a locker there's a ton to
do so we're really excited we're scheduled to be on princess keys from
about 10 o'clock in the morning until 6 o'clock at night I see here that the
last tender is about 5:30 p.m. so we're to do our research we're hoping for
sunshine it looks like there's no rain in the forecast at all you see there's a
little map right here of the island princess Keys is actually not a private
island it's actually a portion a 30 acre slice of the island of yellow thourough
am I saying that right if you're familiar with the Bahamas let me know in
the comments below but it's just a little a bit of acreage on that island
in the Bahamas and there's just a ton to do
so you could just have a beach day there's watersports snorkeling rentals
you can rent a raft for the day like I mentioned before you can rent a bungalow
there's several different types of bungalows there's a sanctuary bungalows
and the regular bungalows sanctuary is adults only so we have the regular ones
because we have a little one and there's all kinds of fun other things to do you
can go to pelicans perch which is a little play area for the kids or you can
just hang out and get a little clam shell for the day and relax and soak up
some Sun so we're looking forward to a new experience tomorrow in the Bahamas
some white sand and blue water sounds perfect right now good night everybody
