BREAKING News!
STATE Of EMERGENCY Has Just Been DECLARED!!!
In a shocking sudden move, the government ordered an urgent state of emergency ordering
all resident and visitors to stay indoors.
The threat is to such a degree that people will die if they don't follow his important
order considering the violence and unrest going on outside.
Declaring a state of emergency is not an announcement made hastily or without warrant and there's
a good reason the local government felt it was absolutely necessary to preserve human
life in an area that has become a war zone.
In what was supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable vacation time, turned into a complete
nightmare within hours surrounding one particular resort popular with tourists.
Vacationers were warned not to go to this particular destination and they didn't listen.
Now they're all locked indoors waiting for the gunfire to end when it will be safe to
go outside again, which may not be anytime too soon.
Jamaica's Prime Minister who declared State of Emergency
Fox News reports:
British and Canadian tourists were warned to stay inside their Montego Bay resorts in
Jamaica after a spate of violence led officials there to deploy soldiers and declare a state
of emergency.
The British government on Thursday advised its citizens visiting the tropical island
that they should "limit movements" outside of resorts and exercise caution if traveling
at night.
Police have said they will take a zero-tolerance approach to crime in the parish of St. James,
where Montego Bay is located, and nearby communities that have seen an increase in killings that
officials blame on gangs and lottery scams.
On Jan. 19 Canada advised citizens visiting Jamaica to "exercise a high degree of caution"
while traveling in the country.
Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness said in a statement that extra steps were needed
to "bring the parish of St. James under control and restore public safety."
"Travel to and from the airport or for excursions should be undertaken with organized tour operators,
and transport should be arranged or provided by the resort hotels," the U.K. Foreign
Office advisory states.
Declaring a state of emergency was an important move for more than just the safety of the
citizens.
By making it official, it also grants a state the ability to qualify for federal funds that
can be used for immediate response and recovery.
Jamaica is definitely going to need it since military personnel is required to get this
actual war zone in a retreat town under control.
Witness accounts of the unrest coming out now have painted a horrifying picture of what
they're enduring there.
With so many places to go for rest and relaxation, these tourists should have heeded the warnings
of not traveling to this area and avoided this exact event.
It goes to show that more people were focused on and offended by President Donald Trump's
comments of calling other areas like this a "shithole" rather than acknowledging
that's actually the case.
Now, rather than a vacation, these tourists are experiencing the equivalent of Martial
Law in another country.
Fox News continues:
One tourist staying in Montego Bay with his wife told Sky News about the increased police
and military presence.
He said: "We have seen an increased military presence going in and out of the resort, vehicle
checkpoints and inside the resort we have seen police boats which have come up to the
resort," said Daniel Blakey.
There were 335 murders recorded in 2017 in St. James, which includes the tourist destination
of Montego Bay, reports the Jamaican Observer.
The latest State Department travel advisory issued Jan. 10 warns Americans to exercise
"extreme caution" when traveling to Jamaica.
It warns Americans not to travel to areas including some areas of Kingston and Montego
Bay.
"Violence and shootings occur regularly in some areas of Montego Bay," it says.
"Violent crime, such as home invasions, armed robberies, and homicide, is common.
Sexual assaults occur frequently, even at all-inclusive resorts.
Local police lack the resources to respond effectively to serious criminal incidents."
The state of emergency gives police additional powers, including the ability to search and
detain without a warrant and shut down businesses.
A curfew has been imposed in both St. James and St. Catherine parish, west of Jamaica's
capital of Kingston.
Police in St. James also released photos of five men wanted in connection with various
crimes, including murder.
If people were more focused on the horrific reality that exists in some of these countries
than the words used to describe the very real scenario, then they would be safe today.
Instead, they would rather make Trump look like the bad guy and prove their tolerance
by traveling to these war zones and putting themselves in direct danger.
These tourists are paying a lot of money for a vacation spent under Martial Law.
