Utah is a deserted state in the west of the United Sates. The last time we spent a weekend in the state capital –
Salt Lake City. All that we have seen there were the Mormons, Mormon homes and churches.
Today we will begin our journey from a small town of Moab.
It is surrounded by mountains, arches and the most gorgeous sights in America.
Our fun meter is about to explode!

Shit, this is unreal! It is surreal!
There are so many beautiful and interesting things in Utah that it is impossible to see everything from
a car window. Therefore, I rented a private helicopter to admire it from above.
We are flying!
There should be harmony in the world. If a rich person flew away on a chopper, a poor person has to find a bus.
Well, welcome to the Wild Wild West I guess. An endless and beautiful nothing as far as an eye can see.
No civilization, no buses. Never mind that, there is no asphalt even! Nice.

Luke: Which city? Go to the highway. It is 18 miles in that direction.
Anton: Is there any public transportation available?
Luke: Not really, but you can walk for two days though. There are no taxis, no nothing.

Anton: There are plenty of options actually, but only one works for me. I can ride on this thing. Or is it illegal?
Luke: All right. I will give you a lift.
Anton: I asked for directions and this guy agreed to give me a ride.
So beautiful! How do people live here?
Utah is probably the prettiest state in the United States. The nature did a terrific job here.
Utah's square area equals to that of Belarus. Huge distances separate its most gorgeous sights.
Lance Canyon, Capitol Reef, Dead Horse, Monument Valley, Lake Powell.
A poor tourist would not be able to see it all in two days.
Helicopter is the only way to go. Utah is like one large National park. The nature is everywhere.
I am so happy that a man never set foot at most of these places.
After 90 minutes in the air, I arrived at my destination, one of the most beautiful canyons in Utah – Bryce Canyon.

I do not believe my own eyes! The wind and nature created all of this!
It looks like the ruins of an ancient city. Thank you!

We made our way to Moab.
Without even noticing, we passed through it.

Utah is an ideal playground for extreme recreational activities.

Moab is like an extreme equipment warehouse. This definitely looks like a town to kick-start an adventure.
You can rent a four-wheeler, a bike or a bicycle. All the tourists come here to rent this, that or that. Also that.
Even this, and be on the way to an extreme adventure.
Another question – what do you do if you only have $100. The answer is unclear.

Conditions are ideal for forming rock sculptures. The range of temperature extremes is very wide – from +35C to +5C.
These swings shaped the rocks over millions of years and turned them into art pieces.
It is cool to look at an arch.

Good hotels in Utah are not distinguished by the number of stars, but rather by their location.
The further you hide from civilization the better.
I am heading to a Capitol Reef Park. This ridge is 160 kilometers in length.
Wanna know why they call it that?
One scientist noticed that one of the hills looks like a dome of a Capitol building.
I picked my hotel here, because of the stunning scenery. How could I say no?

Anton: Yeah, but it is very cold outside.
Temperature in Utah drops from +33C to +5C, but this does not stop these people.
Good news is that they will give me a small camera too.
How can a masterpiece happen in this black hole?
I guess we will find out now.
We will need some extra lighting. The guys are using soft lighting.
It is set to a minimum and located far not to spoil the shot.
This way they are able to direct the light at the rocks, while keeping the sky nice and dark.
The key to success is a light-sensitive lens that costs $2,000.
All of the equipment that we brought with us totals in around $20,000.
That is one expensive hobby! Milky Way will be a star of our video.
They actually study maps of stars and know when the Milky Way will rise like the sun.
After everything is set up, all that is left to do is wait for a camera to do its job. How much time will it take?

I spent the night at Utah's unique place without ever realizing it – Goblin Valley State Park.
Feels like I went to bed on Earth and woke up on Mars! Alien sand monsters surround me.
Millions of years ago, Goblin Valley was entirely buried under water.
After water dried, the wind shaped and polished a valley of the otherworldly beauty.
Petya Romanov said that the rains are washing these rocks.
Petya: Nothing will remain here in a dozen of years. This makes this place the one you need to rush to see.
I completely agree with Petya. You need to see the Goblin Valley with your own eyes.
Otherwise, it is very hard to believe it exists.
Calorie rich American breakfast with a view of the Capitol Reef is a perfect way to start a day!

Utah is 50 shades of red, but it was not always that way. It looked very different some 75 million years ago.
There used to be swamps and woods here that were inhabited by the real dinosaurs!
Huge and toothy, horned and covered with scales they were the undisputed rulers of the world.
The best way to learn about Utah's dinosaurs is to visit Moab's Giants Park.
$16? America is pricey!
Dinosaurs left plenty of footprints and tons of bones in Utah.
People dug up hundreds of different kinds of predators with talons as large as a sickle and herbivores as big as a semi-truck.
This looks like it could be a half of a dinosaur, but in reality, it is just a leg. A tiny leg of a gigantic dinosaur.
To get the better idea of how a human would look next to a dinosaur this park features a hundred of life-size plastic reptiles.
Here is a Utahraptor.
That is Avaceratops.
A couple of Saurolophuses.
A Gargoyleosaurus and of course the head honcho – Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Let me bend the rules a little bit to give you a better illustration. I cannot even reach his… belly.

Endless green forests, deer on the hills with green meadows, some places even have snow!
Pando forest is another wonder that a tourist has to see in Utah. It is the most mysterious forest on the planet.
This is not a regular forest, because all these trees are a part of one living organism that is called a Trembling Giant.
This grove is considered the largest living thing on the planet!
Not an elephant, not a whale, but this particular grove.
Allow me to explain, long time ago one Quaking Aspen
tree appeared here and grew a long root system that allowed all these other trees to sprout.
All that you see here are the organs of a single tree.
All of these trees have the same D.N.A. Each one of the Quaking Aspen trees are clones of an older tree.
This is a clone and that is a clone. A clone and a clone. That is a clone too.
Pando forest is also the oldest living organism on our planet. It is 80,000 years old.
A couple of decades ago the forest started dying.
There is no certainty in regards to why the colony is dying, but it is suspicious that it is happening now,
when the level of human activity is higher than it has ever been.
Should any of you decide to conquer Utah, I suggest you begin by getting your hands on this crispy, tempting $100 bill.

It feels like you are alone on the planet when you are driving through Utah.
You do not see any other cars for hours. Remote villages that I encountered all looked like movie sets.
They are lonely and worn-out. It will be years before they get cellular coverage or a single bar on the Wi-Fi meter.
Despite the major lack of expensive entertainment in Utah, I managed to find something – a spa located near the Hot Springs.
Hot Spring season. This is where I am heading now.

A place where they collect old bathtubs. I definitely imagined something different.
What kind of water is this? Looks like the sewer! The water is far from clean.
It looks like an old muddy tub that you throw away before installing a Jacuzzi.

I did get this far already. Let us imagine that we are in St. Tropez.
It is not warm, it is hot!
The bottom is slimy!
The water is overflowing because it keeps coming, not because I sat in the tub. It is completely natural.
Yuck! There is an old towel stuck in the hole! I sat on it! Let me switch sides. At least this way I get the view.

So awesome! All of this looks weird. I am sitting in a rusty, prehistoric tub from an ancient Greece.
Hot water flows down from this brown wall for the reasons unknown to anyone. Yet it flows.
The strangest part is that a spring is hidden 500 meters below the ground, yet the water drips from above.
The spring water is stinky and muddy, but incredibly useful for your health.
When the water travels through the mountain, it gathers useful minerals that are very good for your skin, joints and even the immune system.
Ozzy Osbourne himself visited this spa. You might say, what is so expensive about renting six rusty tubs?
You cannot even order a glass of vino here, but you can hire a young vocalist!
I am done. My feet are already boiled. We can eat them for lunch.
Utah is not a highly touted destination,
yet it has managed to surpass all of the splendid places that we have visited before!
Almost as if we visited a workshop of the world's most brilliant sculptor…
You definitely need more than two days for your Utah journey.
So sweet to realize that we have plenty of reasons to come back to these vast plains once again!
