hi and welcome to my channel changing the face of fibromyalgia I'm Jessica and
thank you so much for joining me today I was asked a great question the other day
and that question was what brings you joy and happiness in your day when
you're dealing with so much pain and what do you do to help you cope so I
want to discuss today what I do to bring myself some happiness and joy and get
out of my headspace and I would love for you to comment below with what brings
you happiness what do you do to bring joy into your day I'd love to read about

me reach more women and men who deal with this illness by sharing this video
you never know who might need some encouragement and some uplifting so I
know that all too often when we're in a tremendous amount of pain
we're awfully fatigued we haven't had much sleep we kind of get bogged down
into the mess and it's so important to get this up here straight so that you
can get the rest of you in line and deal with the pain if you don't have good
coping mechanisms or you don't do things that bring you joy and happiness this
gets all scrambled making it even harder to deal with the rest of our body and
all the other symptoms that we have so I am a person that can entertain herself
most of the time and I love to laugh so that is the first thing that I'm gonna
look for is how can I laugh in this day and how can I make someone else laugh in
this day to lift them up a little bit so I always find things that are funny on
TV funny on YouTube just I find funny and as soon as I start laughing I can
feel the endorphins going and it gets this straight for a little bit I also
love to play happy music or music that helps me move my body a little bit and I
know what you're thinking I'm in too much pain
to be getting up out of the bed or getting up off the couch and dancing of
all things okay nobody ever said that you had to bust your gut just get up and
just feel the music and move about I love it if I find myself singing don't
ask me to sing please cuz it will not only hurt your ears but it might bring
me some shame and so I'm not gonna sing but I do sing you know when I'm by
myself so I sing out loud um music is a great way to move the soul and if you
have a playlist that you could designate just for fibroid pain being the happy
playlist music please do so it's so beneficial am i also journal and I know
I've spoke about this before on other videos but journaling is so important
when you're dealing with chronic pain and chronic illness you need to purge
your mind whether you find an app on your phone for journaling or whether you
get a hard book with pages in it and you start journaling or just a notebook
whatever you can use for a journal write down your emotions and what you're
feeling at the time why are you feeling those emotions and ask yourself what can
I do right now to flip the script and help me get into a better frame of mind
and after you journal a great thing to do is to meditate and I know a lot of
people they say to me Jessica I don't know how to meditate and I don't even
know where to begin that's okay the only thing you need to know about meditation
is just being calm and still and quiet that's it if you can put your earbuds in
turn on some meditation music I love Reiki meditation music I love native
Native American meditation music I love binary old beats you can find all of
these on YouTube put in your earbuds lay back be in a dark room I like to wear an
eye mask while I meditate and just close your eyes and just be
if you have a thought come in your mind just let the thought go out don't
process the thought don't think even more about the thought just let the
thought go in and out and you will notice the more and more and more and
more you meditate the easier it becomes and you're purging your mind and you
will notice the positivity that comes into your life even while dealing with
the pain so please look into meditation if you are curious about meditation and

link below so okay so I meditate I listen to happy music i journal and the
other thing that I do is I call that one person in my life that I know can bring
me peace and joy and calmness and that one person for me is my best friend who
lives in England I talked to her every single day she is able to not only calm
my spirit but she makes me laugh and and I make her laugh and then we get out of
our own headspace and we're together in a conversation just being friends and
just being two women who deal with fibromyalgia and chronic pain every
single day and you may be saying okay Jessica I don't have somebody in my life
with fibromyalgia or chronic pain and that's alright the best way to find
somebody that understands you with the chronic pain with the fibromyalgia and
RA and lupus and MS is to join a support group you find some great women in there
you start up a conversation back and forth and you soon you realize that
you're talking every day and it just brings you happiness it just brings you
joy if you're interested in the support group I do run one on Facebook it's
called in spite of fibro myalgia and it's a great positive supportive group
of women from all over the world and you will definitely
meet some wonderful wonderful uplifting women and it will bring you joy
matter-of-fact my support group is like my second family that's where I go with
anything I'm dealing with and I always have someone that's there to lift my
spirit so please keep that in mind like I said at the beginning of the video if
you can find some great coping skills and you can get all of this straight in
here everything else will fall into line and into balance I know that it's hard
to find happiness and joy when you're in so much pain and you're so fatigued and
everything around you seems to be crumbling but I promise you if you can
find those certain things that make you happy I promise you you'll have a better
