Welcome to the Endnotes Spelling Bee! In this miniseries I'm following up on the question

I asked in my video about Spelling: what are your spelling pet peeves? Viewer Saxo Ungrammaticus

(great username!) called for reforming the spellings of some, monk, and come by putting

u back in them, which used to be there in Old English and in any case more accurately

reflects the pronunciation of those words, and also putting the i back in busy.

To explain what happened here, I'm going to have to take us back to Phoenician and

look at a number of letters because there's a bit of a domino effect going on. Let's

start with the letter f — I know it seems unrelated, but trust me, we'll get there!

f traces its ancestry back to the Phoenician alphabet and a character called waw meaning

"peg", but it had a different sound then, more akin to Modern English's /w/ sound.

This letter was initially borrowed into Greek, where it came to be called digamma, because

the symbol looked like two Greek gamma letters laid on top of each other. Greek eventually

dropped that letter as the sound disappeared from the language, but not before it was passed

on to the Etruscans, who also had that /w/ sound. But when it came to Latin, the Romans

needed a way to represent their /f/ sound, so the letter f was reassigned. As for the

/w/ sound, well the letter u did double duty representing both the vowel /u/ sound and

the consonant /w/ sound, since both were very similarly made with the lips rounded. In fact

you may find it difficult to make the /u/ sound without ending it off with a /w/ sound.

Now it's important to keep in mind that the Romans wrote that letter u in two way.

When inscribing on stone it was formed with straight lines like our modern letter v, but

when written by pen or stylus it was curved like our modern u. But both of these forms

represented the same letter; the Romans didn't have a /v/ sound (which is why Julius Caesar—sorry,

Yulius Kaiser—actually said "weni, widi, wici"!) When the letters f and u came into

Old English, a few modifications happened. First of all f had to represent two sounds,

both the /f/ sound and the /v/ sound. These two sounds are another pair of voiced and

unvoiced sounds that are otherwise articulated in the exact same way, placing your upper

teeth on your lower lip and blowing air through, what's called a labio-dental fricative.

This was generally not a problem in Old English since the phonetic environment determined

which sound to make, for instance between two voiced sounds the /f/ became a /v/ and

we still see this today in such pairs wife and wives, wolf and wolves, though now we

indicate that difference in pronunciation with a difference in spelling. But we still

see traces of the letter f making a /v/ sound in Modern English. If you've ever wondered

why the word of isn't spelled ov, well that's the reason, it's a holdover from the Old

English spelling convention. As for the letter u, initially it was also used in English to

make both the vowel and consonant sound as in Latin, and in post-Classical Latin there

eventually arose the convention of writing two uu in a row, a practise that later led

to the letter w now written with the pointed form of the letter, more like double vv, which

is what the letter is called in French, double V. But before those two uu were joined together

into a new letter, the two uu convention could lead to some cumbersome spellings, such as

the Old English spelling of the word uuulf with three uuu in a row. So the Anglo-Saxon

scribes soon developed a new solution to the problem, adding in one of those Germanic runic

characters, called wynn, to make the /w/ sound, so u only had to represent the vowel. In a

later spelling shift that doesn't indicate a change in pronunciation, but just a scribal

convenience, since the Norman scribes didn't like using those runic characters, they dumped

the wynn and went back to the uu digraph. They were thus faced with the same problem

again, made even harder to read in scripts used at the time in which the letter u was

made with two minims, that is two short vertical strokes that were identical to two letter

is. Indeed many letters were made with minims, such as n and m, making for *very* confusing

manuscripts! So to avoid the problem, Norman scribes would often change the letter u in

English words to the letter o, which is why wolf is now spelled with the letter o. Same

goes for some from Old English sum, monk from Old English munuc, and come from Old English

cuman. Not all us were changed of course, only when it caused difficulty in reading

because of the letters around the u, so Old English ful is still spelled with a u in Modern

English full, and there are some inconsistencies, such as Old English sunu becoming Modern English

son with an o, but sunnu becoming sun with a u.

Now something even more complex happened with the word busy, and again we'll have to go

back to Phoenician, and in fact that same letter waw. Because the Greeks actually got

two letters out of waw, the digamma making the consonant /w/ sound that we saw earlier,

and the upsilon for their /y/ sound, a rounded front vowel that's made as if you were making

an /i/ sound but rounding your lips as if you were making an /u/ sound. By the way,

the letter was originally called just υin Greek, but this was later expanded to upsilon

meaning "simple or naked υ to distinguish it from similar sounding digraphs. This letter

later passed into Etruscan and from there into the Roman alphabet, by which point the

character looked variously like a u or v as we've already seen. The sound it represented

was also slightly different. Latin didn't have that rounded front vowel, so the letter

referred to their /u/ sound. But as the Romans began to borrow Greek vocabulary they found

they needed a letter to represent that Greek upsilon sound, so they simply re-borrowed

the letter in the form it had in Athenian Greek at the time, which was where we got

the letter y from. The Romans called it i graeca meaning the "Greek i", and that's

still what it's called in French, i grec, and it was initially only used for words borrowed

from Greek. But eventually the pronunciation of the letter came to be indistinguishable

from the letter i and in Medieval Latin it was sometimes used interchangeably with the

letter i, especially to deal with that same minim problem we talked about before, so for

instance the word inuium meaning "impassable" and made up entirely of minims, could instead

be written with y in place of i. When the alphabet was adapted for Old English, they

found the letter y useful because like Greek Old English had that rounded front vowel.

And here's where we finally get to the word busy, because Old English bysig was sometimes

written with a y and sometimes with an i, representing different regional pronunciations.

The /i/ sound was probably the original stem vowel sound, but in the late West Saxon dialect

this seems to have become rounded to the /y/ sound. And as Old English became Middle English

we ended up with the u spelling reflecting that rounded variant (found in the West Midland

and Southern dialects) but the i pronunciation from the East Midlands dialect. A thoroughly

confusing business! I'll be continuing to respond to your comments

and suggestions in more Spelling Bee videos intermittently for the next while, in between

other main videos. Thanks for all the responses, which keep coming in! As always, you can hear

even more etymology and history, as well as interviews with a wide range of fascinating

people, on the Endless Knot Podcast, available on all the major podcast platforms as well

as our other YouTube channel. Thanks for watching!

Travel Sketch - Dove Playground version 2 - Duration: 7:39.

Inspired by a movie and an exhibition about that movie,

I found an alternative way to travel. So I'm going to try it out right now...

The magnetic reading from my drone

tells me that this is the right spot.

Oh my gosh, where am I?

This looks familiar and yet it's not.

Ok, you know what? I'm not gonna waste any more time travelling here and there...

I'm just gonna paint this this looks really funky and cute.

I've seen this before somewhere... but can't quite put a finger to it where.

Let's set up!

How long has this been here?

This? Long time...

Because my daughter's already 30,

Before my daughter was born, this was already here.

This playground went through a revamp, before there were see-saws here.

Right here... the see-saws.

How long have you lived here?

Oh... long time.

53 years.

There's also a similar playground in Ban Lan.

That place is further.

There's also one that is the same, just around the corner.

He's drawing this playground.

I thought he was taking some photos.

He draws it so realistically!

Can I have a look?

Wow! Pretty!

I was telling him that this design is found all over this area.

A lot of Singaporeans come here to check this out...

He's a Singaporean.

I think that this has been here for over 40 years!

We suspected that this design was taken from Singapore's iconic playground.

That shouldn't be an issue, right?

Yeah, it shouldn't... it's for kids!

A lot of mosquitoes here!

Over there at the coffeeshop has mozzies too!

Yes... lots!

It gets worse after 7pm!

You'd better finish your painting quick!

Time for some ice cream!

This is by Iberri.

It's a chocolate cone ice cream and it's

for 3 Ringgit, which is like a dollar Sing, which is like 60 cent Euro.

Wow! That's nice!

Thank you.

Nothing like ice cream on a warm, humid day.

So the neighbours tell me that at 7pm,

that's when the mosquitoes come out full force, so I'm gonna complete this before

that happens.

Because already have been bitten quite a bit we're gonna spare you the details...

Better get back to this piece.

And there you have it folks, we are actually in Johor Bahru.

Johor Bahru is at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia and it's the nearest city to

the country of Singapore. I'm actually in this little village called San Lou,

meaning three stories. There's a famous eatery here. And this neighborhood has

been around for last 50 years so I heard about it on the internet and I decided

check it out... I mean how bizarre is this right? And I also found out that this is not the only

neighborhood with this dove playground. There are actually many others, as many as 4

from what the neighbours around were telling me. So thank you so much for

tuning in this is Alvin Mark. Remember to LIKE... SUBSCRIBE and even better...

share this with a friend and tell them to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE so

this is me from Johor Bahru... Ciao ciao!

So very importantly for this painting

what I did was to remove that swing right in front of this thing because I

thought that it would be in the way and blocking so this is one of those

creative calls that I make on the spot and it really depends also the angle of

the light that's coming in and hitting this and I thought that personally it

was just distracting but I must say that this

replica is indeed spectacular. Well done!

Hey guys, so I was on my way back out along the shore and I saw this amazing

view and I said to myself okay the sun setting, but we all have to stop by

here and paint the scene right now outside KFC.

I believe that is Senoko, so

we're still in Johor Bahru Malaysia over on this side and over there that's that

Singapore and judging by the distance I see it's about 1 and a half kilometers

with that beacon marking the midpoint between the two countries – the straits of

the two countries. I think it's about 6pm, let's check which leaves us very little

time to paint because here in Southeast Asia the sun sets at 7:30pm every day of

the year. Let's get to it!

Very quickly what attracted me to stop him painting the scene the greyness and

how the candy canes pop out in that scene. You know what I mean... yeah, so it's as

simple as that it's pretty. The light has changed drastically it's the best I can

do at this point so I hope you enjoyed this extra bonus segment... it's time to

head home... definitely.

Maybe after some KFC.

A Drag Queen Mistook Andrew Rannells for Jonathan Groff - Duration: 6:32.

-Welcome back! -I mean, what's happening?

-This is very exciting. -It's very exciting.

-You guys know each other from the Broadway community.

Have you ever worked together? -No.

-We have never worked together. She called me once.

-Okay.

-You called me when I was doing "The Book of Mormon."

She left me a very sweet, very supportive voicemail.

We didn't really know each other at all.

-I just needed him to know how great he was.

-But you've got my phone number.

I saved that voicemail for like three years

until it was lost in a phone-update accident.

-Oh, no. -So it was gone forever.

But I kept that forever. And I also --

Full disclosure -- I kept your phone number.

So I still have your phone number in my phone

just so, like, I can look at it and be like, "Oh, look,

I have Kristin Chenoweth's phone number."

[ Laughter ]

Like, I might need to call you at some point.

-Call me later tonight. -Okay.

[ Laughter ]

There's something I should tell you.

[ Laughter ]

-Ah, story of my life. -I'm not wearing socks.

[ Laughter ]

-Do you have her saved in your phone as Kristin Chenoweth?

-Oh, yeah, duh. -Okay, that's a risk,

'cause then if your phone gets stolen --

-No, that's the whole point! -Oh, I see.

-They're like, "God, this guy's fancy.

What's happening?"

-This is very exciting.

This is the 50th anniversary... -50th anniversary.

-...of a very famous play, "The Boys in the Band."

-Yeah. -And it's a revival of it.

And even though it's 50 years old,

it seems, like, very current.

Is that something you sensed going into it?

-Yeah, we were not concerned,

but we were curious to see how a lot of it was going to land.

It was first produced on Broadway in 1968.

So it was like a year before Stonewall.

It was two months before

Martin Luther King was assassinated.

So a lot was changing that year.

So the play sort of got -- it was almost immediately dated,

in some ways, because it was pre-gay-rights movement.

And so we were curious to see how it was gonna land.

And much to our relief and surprise, it's really --

I think audiences are finding it surprisingly relevant

and also surprisingly funny.

I think it has sort of a reputation of being --

I mean, this picture makes it look like...

...we're all going to a funeral. -Yeah.

[ Laughter ]

You're either going to a funeral, or, like,

a turtleneck convention. -I know, yeah.

[ Laughter ]

It's sort of -- It's really --

It's not indicative of what happens on that stage.

'Cause it's a party.

It's like nine guys at this birthday party.

-And it's a party that kind of comes a little unhinged.

-Yes. It definitely comes unhinged.

Well, a little too much of this,

and then, they start playing games.

-Now, have you ever been at a party where nine gay men

have had too much to drink?

-I call that a Tuesday.

[ Laughter and applause ]

-That's correct. That is correct.

That's backstage right now at the show.

[ Laughter ]

-Do you -- I mean, has this been a --

Do you feel any personal connection?

-Absolutely, yeah.

-Because it is old friends who drink too much.

-Yeah. And as soon as you -- My best friend, Susannah,

we went through this really rough phase

where she would insist on playing Truth or Dare

or prank calling people.

I'm surprised they didn't prank call you, actually,

now that I think about it. [ Laughter ]

Since I have your number! But we would prank call people

that we knew and just, you know, try to loop them into, like,

really humiliating conversations with us.

And it worked a lot of times.

But it did often end in, like, hurt feelings

and, like, sadness.

So I can really relate to this play.

It's really -- -There's a landline in the play.

That is the one thing that maybe 1968s it the most.

-I have heard that, yes. And it's a rotary.

So you have to like -- that took --

It was a little practice, I think, for all of us

in rehearsals to be like, "It takes a long time

to dial a phone. Goddamn."

It's a lot of work.

-You guys, you're doing a special performance.

-We are, for The Actors Fund.

-In a midnight show. -Midnight, yes.

-And will it be any different than other performances

when you guys do it at midnight?

-I mean, I think it will probably be a little rowdier.

It's a great organization --

The Actors Fund is a wonderful organization,

and they raise money for all sorts of great causes,

as you know.

So, a lot of shows will do these added performances.

We're just choosing to do ours at midnight,

which will be exciting.

And I think there'll probably be a lot of this.

And because there's a lot of drinking in the show, Jim --

Some of the guys that I have been discussing, like,

"Should we drink onstage?"

-Absolutely! -Should we try it?

-Yes. -I mean, we couldn't possibly

drink as much as we -- because we would just be,

like, blacked out if we actually drank that much that quickly.

But I could probably work in a drink, right?

-Yes, honey! -It's not a safety issue.

-No, no! -What could go wrong?

[ Laughter ]

What could go wrong?

-"I was at a midnight performance of

'The Boys in the Band,' and during the show,

Andrew Rannells prank-called me!"

[ Laughter ]

-"Punched Zach Quinto. It was a nightmare!"

-"He kept yelling at all of us

that he had Kristin Chenoweth's number."

[ Laughter ]

-It's gonna happen.

-You were just on "RuPaul's Drag Race."

You filmed it with Billy Eichner.

Our friend Billy Eichner. [ Cheers and applause ]

-Yes.

Sort of a Broadway episode.

They were doing a musical.

So I got to go on and be a judge, and it was --

You know, it's so weird to do that show.

-You were fabulous. You gave great critiques.

-Well, it's weird 'cause you don't know

any of the contestants, and you're just sort of

dropped in the middle of this thing.

So you don't know any of them, but very sweetly,

after they did their sort of, you know, their final walks

and all of that --

By the way, the best lighting on that show, ever.

You're like, "I look like a fetus.

This is incredible." [ Laughter ]

But I -- This -- It was Monét X Change.

Very sweetly, he was like, "I just want to say,

I'm from New York, and when I was a kid,

I saw you in Broadway shows, and I used to get rush tickets

to see you in "Spring Awakening."

And I wasn't in "Spring Awakening."

[ Laughter ]

And goes on and on and on about, like, how nice I was,

and I would, like, bring coffee

and snacks to the kids waiting in line.

I was like, "Well, first of all, I never would've done that."

[ Laughter ]

But -- Certainly never gave anything away to children.

And then, he finished the whole speech, and I said,

"That's Jonathan Groff."

[ Laughter ]

-He's the best.

-And he was like, "Oh, no, no, no!

I meant -- I meant 'Book of Mormon.'

I was like, "Too late!" [ Laughter ]

"Sashay away!"

[ Laughter ]

"Get the hell off the stage!"

-Well, you know what?

If there's anyone you can tell to sashay away,

the perfect place to do it, perfect situation.

-It would've happened.

-And then you -- So you go to August 11th.

-August 11th. Yeah.

-Like you said, it's such an incredible cast.

-It is. I mean, these limited runs are super fun

because you really have to be very present

and, yeah, really sort of dig in.

But August 11th, it's coming, coming quick.

-And is the midnight show this week or is it...?

-It's a week from this Thursday. -Okay, great.

-I don't know what that date is. -That's all right.

-But it's a week from Thursday. -And it's such a great --

Like you said, Actors Fund is a great organization.

And, you guys, thank you for sticking around.

-Of course! I love him.

-And maybe leave him a voicemail backstage.

-I'll call him!

-Andrew Rannells, everybody!

[So happy]

[Thank you, Dahyun]

[About the signature sound] Like having a watermark in printed docs,

what do you think about having a signature sound?

[Just like] JYP, something like that.

[It's better] - It's better to have one. - If it's too long, shorten it.

I like something with impact.

[That means it's too long] - They're saying it's too long. - Too long?

They said like that, because they're nice.

Layered.

[Three teams gathered up today] I personally want to

- let TWICE hear our songs. - Really?

[So excited] - Really? - Nice.

- I want them to evaluate our songs. - Okay.

[Their songs always top the charts] Their songs are so popular. Streaming gangster.

[Streaming chart gangster] Their songs always top the charts.

Their past 7 songs were hit songs.

[Curious of their reactions] Let them hear our songs.

[Before then] Before you criticize our songs,

[TWICE's new song will come out before their project songs] Our songs

- will come out after their new song is released. - Right.

- It will come out on July 12? - No, on 9. - July 9?

- I will check it on the calendar. - Ours will come out on July 18.

[On my radio show] I'll play as the first song on July 9.

Please give me some spoilers.

[About what?] Sorry?

Please introduce your new song.

She misheard and tried to shake off her hands.

[Momo got surprised] She did with her hands.

May we sing a bit for them?

Please introduce the song.

[Summarized version] Please introduce.

Streaming chart gangsters, a real gangsters.

[The real one inside the chart gangsters] A real one.

[Jeongyeon is on top of ranks] A real gangster.

[TWICE's new song lyricist, Wheesung] Wheesung wrote the lyrics for us.

VT English | How to Write an English Resume - Duration: 5:26.

What are you working on?

My resume.

Oh.

Writing an English resume is so hard.

I wish someone could help me.

Do you want my help?

Oh thanks for offering, why not?

Hi everyone! Welcome back to VT English.

Today I'm going to teach you how to write an English resume.

I'll walk you through every section of a resume,

and give you some tips along the way,

so that by the end of this video,

you'll be ready to write your very own English resume.

At the very top of your resume,

you'll need a header that includes all of your basic information.

You should include your name, phone number, email, and address.

You can format this however you like,

but remember that it should stand out and look professional.

And just a side note,

in North America and the UK,

photos are not usually included on resumes.

Below your header you can add a section that highlights key points from your resume.

This section is often titled "Professional Profile,"

"Summary of Qualifications," or "Highlights."

This part should be a brief summary of your skills, strengths, and key experiences.

It should show companies what you have to offer.

You can write this in sentences or bullet points, but keep it short.

A few lines should be enough.

The next section is work experience, or professional experience.

In this section, you should list the jobs that you've had in reverse chronological order.

So, your most recent job should come first,

and then you should work your way back in time from there.

For each job you should include your job title,

the company's name and location,

and the dates that you worked there.

Under that, you should write a few bullet points

that explain what you did at that job.

Each bullet point should start with an action verb,

and should focus on specific job duties.

Also try to include some measurable results.

For example, if you worked in sales,

you could write the actual amount of sales that you made.

Remember, since each bullet point starts with a verb,

they won't be complete sentences.

There is no need for a subject,

so don't use "I" in them.

And remember to use the right tense for each verb.

For tasks that you still do in your present job, use the present tense.

For past jobs, use past tense.

You should also be careful about which verbs you use.

Instead of using very simple or boring verbs, use power verbs.

For example, rather than using "made," use "developed";

or, instead of using "did," use "executed."

Using power verbs like these will strengthen your resume.

The next section is education.

This section can also be moved to before professional experience

if you're a new graduate and you don't have much work experience.

In this section you should list your education starting with your most recent degree.

So if you have a master's degree, you should list that first,

followed by your bachelor's degree.

For each of these, you should write your degree, school, and graduation date.

If you haven't graduated yet, you can write "expected graduation date" and then that date.

You can also include your GPA if it's high and any awards you received.

The other sections of your resume will depend on your own needs.

Let's go through a few sections that people often include.

Under this section you can list any volunteer work you've done.

Here you can list any licenses or certificates that you have

that relate to the job you're applying for.

In this section, you can include any skills that might be useful for the job you're applying for.

If you work in a field that requires technical skills, list those.

If you're applying for an office job,

you might want to include something like:

"proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel."

If you speak multiple languages, you can list those here.

If you've done any language exams, include those to show what level you're at.

Otherwise, just give a basic idea of your level.

You could use words like "native language,"

"fluent," "intermediate," or "basic" to describe your language level.

Alright, we've gone through all the basic sections of an English resume,

but before I go I'd like to give you a few final tips.

Number one, keep your resume to one to two pages in length.

Number two, adjust your resume based on the job you're applying for,

to make sure that the information on your resume relates to that job.

Number three, make sure not to make any mistakes or typos on your resume.

This looks really unprofessional,

so get someone to check over your resume before you send it to any companies.

An Ode to Artists - Duration: 4:23.

My dear fellow artists,

Have you ever wondered...

why you suffer more than others?

Why your pain runs deeper,

your sorrow fills more space,

and your agony seems to encompass the whole universe,

freezing it...

in its place?

It is because...

you are born with a great gift, my friend.

But just like any gift,

it also comes...

with a curse.

When you connect,

you reach deep inside human hearts and souls,

you trust with all your being

which longs to be whole.

But when that trust is betrayed,

you are left alone and in pain

more so than other people,

a thousand-fold.

When you imagine,

you create a world of wonders...

like no others can,

there is no limit to what you can dream of...

in that infinite fantasy land.

But that is also why,

when that world of wonders collides with cruel reality,

deep disappointment...

forever grows

and expands.

And when you love,

you put in not only 100%,

but 1000,

you love...

as if there's no tomorrow,

you love as if there's no chance for sorrow.

but that is also why,

when your heart breaks,

you feel nothing but emptiness,

with endless shadows...

that follow.

But my dear fellow artists,

I'm here to tell you...

don't hate your special heart.

For you grieve more greatly,

only because you love...

more daringly.

You suffer more severely,

only because you savor life...

more fully.

And your heart falls farther,

only because your soul flies higher.

In times when the world seems to forget you,

always remember…

that the universe needs someone...

as special as you,

someone who knows how to turn their pain...

into paintings and poems,

their melancholy into music,

their crisis into comedy,

their suffering into stories,

their disappointment into dances,

their woes into words,

and their agony...

into art.

Finally, my dear fellow artists,

please realize that your heart is unique.

And that your purpose on this planet...

is to simply BE that beauty,

which the world always seeks…

This is K, signing off,

Till next time,

Be peaceful.

Be powerful.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - S03E23 - Episode Review - Duration: 8:16.

Welcome to Ranger Reviews, a webseries where we look at episodes of the tv show, Power

Rangers and then discuss it!

Today, we're exploring the hundred and thirty fifth episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

as well as the twenty third episode of Season 3, titled "A Different Shade of Pink Part

1".

We begin this episode at the Youth Center where Kim is practicing her gymnastics while

Tommy watches on like a perv.

Then, an older guy comes over, introducing himself as Gunthar Schmidt.

Tommy is surprised to see him, but not as surprised as Kimberly who dismounts off the

beam, and she totally fan girls.

Gunthar asks if he'll see her at the tryouts for the Pan Global games, and when he finds

out that she doesn't have a coach, he insists that he's going to clear some of his schedule

to help her get ready.

He also explains that if this is going to work, she has to be 100% dedicated.

Rita sees this, and she's pissed, saying they have to stop her, and Zedd brings up

a good point: they couldn't even beat her when she was missing a damn Power Coin.

However, Rita says that she's going to handle this anyways.

At the Command Center, all six are together with Alpha and Zordon.

Everyone is talking about how they came as soon as they got Kim's message.

She starts to tell them about Gunthar Schmidt, but then Aisha says that Ernie already told

them all about it.

What the hell, Ernie?

Don't you have real work to be doing?

The others are super excited for Kim, and Tommy mansplains for Kim that she's worried

about being stretched too thin time-wise to be a Power Ranger.

Zordon says that it was never his intention to take her away from her normal life.

I mean, says the guy who abducted a child to be a soldier in his war, but okay.

Kim thanks him, and she says that she's going to figure it out, and now, it's time

for a training montage!

Seriously, count how many times we see the exact same shot over and over again.

Kat is watching her work out creepily, and she replaces a phone that's there, which

means Kat was trying to remain incognito by just standing in plain sight on the phone.

This is amazing.

At the Juice Bar, we hear on the TV that the White House has issued a statement saying

that an international spy named Johan Gauss was last seen on the southern coast of the

United State.

That's a 1,933 mile crapshoot, guys.

Bulk and Skull show up, scaring Ernie, and they hear that essentially, this guy is just

like Gunthar Schmidt because the TV reporter says that he speaks with a strange accent.

Wow, racist.

Kim and Gunthar come up, and Kim says that she brought Gunthar by to try one of Ernie's

"special protein shakes" which comes off wayyyyyy more sexual than they intended.

Kim then introduces her coach to Bulk and Skull, and they just say that they have to

go, and they crouch down behind the bar.

Now, they're spying on them from afar, and Skull says that he always wanted to be a gymnast,

but he hated being upside down.

That sounds like a random thing to tell you, but it's going to come back.

Bulk says that this guy matches the description of the spy from the TV, but first Skull guesses

that Bulk is describing the president of the United States, which he says in a phenomenal

Bill Clinton impression.

Anyways, Bulk says that if they bring the spy in, they will be revered by Stone.

In the park, Rita and Kat are just hanging out in a damn tree, and Rita says that she

has plans for Kim.

Then, Kat has a flashback of her diving into a pool of water.

That's it for this scene.

At the Command Center, everyone except Kim is there, and they see on the viewing globe

that there's an attack happening on Angel Grove, but it's been divided into three

sections.

Apparently Vampirius and Artismole are together.

Adam and Billy will handle Tengas.

Rocky and Aisha will handle Vampirius and Artismole.

Tommy will handle Goldar and more Tengas.

He also says they should wait the last possible moment to call Kim.

It's morphin' time!

Rocky and Aisha show up with their foes, fighting.

Meanwhile, Billy and Adam are taking on Tengas, and Tommy is also fighting Tengas and Goldar

and Rito, who I don't remember being mentioned beforehand.

Tommy realizes that he needs help, and he calls Billy and Rocky, but Billy says there's

no way he can help, and Rocky says Tommy has to call Kim.

At the Youth Center, Kim is about to practice when her communicator beeps.

She tells Coach Schmidt that she has to go because it's an emergency, and Schmidt is

a dick to her saying that it's important for her to be on schedule, and he tells her

to deal with any second thoughts she could be having before she basically keeps wasting

his time.

What a chode.

Then, Kim's communicator goes off again, and she tells her terrible actor of a coach

that she wouldn't be leaving if she didn't think that this was an emergency.

She runs off.

Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull need to figure out how to get Coach Schmidt, and Skull suggests

a citizen's arrest, but Bulk has a plan.

Kim shows up, and for once, she bails Tommy out, which is refreshing.

Now, we see that Bulk and Skull are in robes, and they want to tell Coach Schmidt that they're

gymnasts, and they want to be trained by him for the Pan Global games.

Meanwhile, Tommy is still struggling, and he tells everyone that their strength lies

in teamwork, so they should bring everyone together.

Then, he gets kicked in the chest by Goldar.

Thank you, Goldar.

Then, Billy and Adam come lightly jogging in with Tengas behind them.

Then, Vampirius and Aristmole come flying in from Rocky and Aisha.

I feel like this could've been done earlier.

But whatever, now they're all taking on the monsters and Tengas, and honestly, there's

so much going on.

But then, all the monsters just bail for no reason.

Tommy tells Kim that she has to get back to practice, and she teleports away.

Then, we see Bulk and Skull walking out in leotards, and Skull screams about how he doesn't

like to be upside down.

Kim comes walking in, but she gets buzzed by Tommy.

Tommy says that they're back now, and they're taking the Shark Cycles in.

Meanwhile, Kat is there, and she remembers standing up high on a diving board above a

pool.

All six of the Rangers are on the Shark Cycles, taking on all the exact same baddies from

before, and once again, we're supposed to believe that this is cool or something, but

honestly, it's boring.

Especially because Rito just rides bitch with Kim for a while to mess with her.

Then, Tommy kicks Rito off, making his retreat.

Then, Aisha gets Artismole to retreat, and then Goldar retreats from Rocky.

Also, Vampirius bails.

Then, Kim just faints into Tommy's arms.

Outside the Youth Center at night, Tommy is dropping Kim off so that she can practice

solo because Ernie left the beam up for her.

That's nice of him, I guess.

Tommy says that she should have someone here to spot her, but Kim says that Coach Schmidt

is gonna try to meet her there.

Tommy even says he'll come back if she needs him, and she kisses him goodbye.

So nice to see them act like a real couple.

Kim runs into Ernie, and he tells her that Coach Schmidt said he can't come.

Ernie is letting Kim stay there alone and workout and then close up when she's done.

That's honestly not that weird because Ernie seems like the type to do that.

Meanwhile, Ernie leaves, and Kat appears, and she remembers talking to some boy by a

tree when Rita was watching like a perv.

Then, Kim is practicing.

Then, Kat's boy toy turns into a Tenga, and Kim falls.

Then, Rita turns Kat evil via spell in the park, and Kim is still doing gymnastics.

Then, Kat remembers her doing a dive, and as she's diving, we hear an announcer say

that she struck her head on the diving board, and then he says "so much for Australia's

hope for Pan Global Gold", like that's a thing someone would've just announced

at a public even when someone gets hurt.

Kat then comes to, realizing what's going on.

She starts yelling and pounding on the door.

Rita sees this, and she says "the cat's out of the bag!" because of course.

Then, Kat gets into the Juice Bar via a delivery door, and Kim does a slow motion backflip,

falling off of the balance beam.

She lands on the mat hard as Kat runs over, saying it's all her fault.

Kim seems to be knocked unconscious.

To be continued.

Over the credits, we see a blooper of Bulk and Skull where Bulk's actor fell backwards.

This episode has such strong peaks and such strong valleys.

Getting to finally understand what the hell is going on with Katherine helps resolve a

plotline they started episodes ago, but honestly, a lot of it feels like a forced way to get

Kim to not be around as much.

I'm glad that they actually ended on a real cliffhanger though.

Like, Kim just knocked herself out.

Though I'm not sold that she'd be insanely injured from falling from that height, but

eh, it makes for drama.

Other than that, how will things continue this story next episode?

Until then, may the power protect you!

Charlize Theron's Most Dangerous Movie Roles - Duration: 4:40.

Born and raised in South Africa, Charlize Theron moved to New York at the age of 18

to study dance at the city's prestigious Joffrey Ballet School.

After sustaining several severe knee injuries, however, Theron was forced give up her career

in ballet and try her hand at acting instead.

Although Theron's dancing days are now long behind her, she's since taken on some pretty

intense acting roles and has suffered both physically and mentally as a result.

Knee injuries really don't seem so bad compared to these.

Monster

Ironically considering it's the movie responsible for getting her noticed Theron is pretty much

unrecognizable throughout Monster.

Because the story is based on the real experiences of the serial killer Aileen Wuornos, Theron

underwent a long and intense process to become her character.

Make-up was applied to redden and weather her complexion and she was given contacts

to change her eye color.

As well as gaining 30 pounds for the role, Theron also had to learn to speak and act

with dentures.

"I'm a real…

I'm a real hard worker."

When asked which scene was the hardest for the actress to complete, she told The Advocate:

"Which wasn't?"

She continued,

"I just remember lying on the ground with nothing [left], just complete numbness."

Aeon Flux

Two years after Monster, Theron took on another punishing role the lead character in 2005's

live-action adaptation of Aeon Flux.

Sadly, the movie bombed, earning only a nine percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics called the film dreadfully boring, incomprehensible, and a total mess, punctuated

by occasional gunfights and acrobatics.

What's worse is that those bouts of acrobatics could well have killed her.

She told I'm Filmy,

"I did a back handspring and um my feet slipped from underneath me, and um I landed

with my entire body weight on my neck and herniated a disc"

"that was definitely the scariest thing that's ever happened to me"

North Country

Based on a true story, North Country tells the story of Josey Aimes and her journey to

put an end to the harassment which plagues the iron mine in which she works.

The movie also provided an in-depth look into the everyday life of workers in America's

mining communities.

To prepare for her role as a miner, Theron quite literally went to work down in the mines,

taking multiple 12-hour shifts in dangerous conditions, and engaging with the female workers.

In the lead-up to the movie's release, Theron told CBS' Early Show,

"These were just people trying to make ends meet, and trying to put food on the table.

I think that was the part that moved me the most."

The Italian Job

Just months before Theron hit it big with Monster, she also took sizable supporting

part in the remake of The Italian Job.

She was told from the get-go that they wanted the actors to do as many stunts as they felt

comfortable performing, and, although she appeared to have a lot of fun racing her coworkers,

she did pay the price for her need for speed.

In an interview with the BBC, Theron exclaimed,

"I only crashed three times!"

And while she might have broken a camera after one accident on set, she at least managed

to not break any bones.

"We really didn't have to teach Charlize how to drive we were trying to hold her back."

Mad Max: Fury Road

Director George Miller once claimed that the making of Fury Road was basically a "military

exercise."

Considering it was shot over 130 days in a real desert with real vehicles and real stunts

it's not hard to see why.

Theron recognized the need to take extra precautions, having already suffered a severe neck injury

whilst filming Aeon Flux years earlier.

Miller admitted,

"We didn't help the neck in one shot that went slightly awry.

It was a cable slip when she's holding onto Tom Hardy upside down.

But she was back the next day.

She's tough."

Atomic Blonde

Memories of her past injuries weren't enough to stop Theron from performing many of her

own stunts on the set of Atomic Blonde.

In an interview with I'm Filmy, Theron said that some fight scenes were filmed using up

to 25 continuous strikes.

In case you're not familiar with the ins-and-outs of fight choreography, that's a lot of movement

and without any cuts to break things up, either.

"fasten your seatbelt"

Preparation for such a rigorous role required rigorous training.

In fact, she trained so hard she managed to break her own teeth.

"I clenched apparently really hard on my jaw while I was training and I think it was

just out of the frustration to learn how to fight"

Tully

After Atomic Blonde, Theron put on a staggering 50 pounds to prepare for her part in Tully.

This movie, however, isn't based on any true story so why did Theron choose to gain

weight for the role?

She explained to Entertainment Tonight:

"I just I wanted to feel what this woman felt, and I think that was a way for me to get closer

to her and get into that mindset."

Unfortunately, this brought with it some unexpected baggage.

"I dealt with depression for the first time.

Really?

That was interesting yeah, was that from seeing your body change so much?

No, well, ah yeah, that too."

Theron has since lost the weight.

She makes it look so easy, doesn't she?

Defeating Giants - Part 2 - Duration: 28:32.

ANNOUNCER: THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN MADE POSSIBLE

BY THE FRIENDS AND PARTNERS OF JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES.

JOYCE: WHY WOULD THE HOLY SPIRIT LEAD YOU

INTO A TOUGH PLACE?

BECAUSE WE CAN'T JUST HEAR THIS STUFF, WE HAVE TO APPLY IT

AT SOME POINT IN OUR LIFE.

IT HAS TO BE TESTED TO EVEN GIVE US THE STRENGTH TO KNOW THAT WE

REALLY DO HAVE WHAT IT TAKES.

[MUSIC]

JOYCE: WELL, WELCOME TO "ENJOYING EVERYDAY LIFE."

YOU KNOW, DIFFICULTIES ARE WHAT WE OFTEN CALL GIANTS,

OR SOMETHING THAT WE ALL FACE AT SOME POINT IN LIFE.

AND YOU MAY BE FACING A GIANT RIGHT NOW.

TODAY, WE WANT TO HELP YOU IN YOUR BATTLE.

GINGER WILL JOIN ME LATER WITH SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS

ON GIANTS, BUT FIRST ENJOY THIS MESSAGE AND LET GOD'S WORD

ENCOURAGE YOU IN WHATEVER SITUATION YOU MAY BE FACING

RIGHT NOW.

JOYCE: YOU KNOW, EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK TODAY, THERE'S WAR, WAR

BETWEEN NATIONS, WARS BETWEEN CHURCHES, WARS BETWEEN PEOPLE

ON THE WORSHIP TEAM IN THE CHURCHES,

WARS IN MARRIAGES, WARS BETWEEN SIBLINGS,

WARS BETWEEN YOUR FLESH AND YOUR SPIRIT,

WARS IN YOUR MIND.

THE DEVIL IS REALLY INTO WAR.

BUT HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS, YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES.

I'M NOT GONNA TELL YA IT'S ALWAYS GONNA BE FUN OR EASY,

BUT YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES.

YOU HAVE WEAPONS AND YOU HAVE

ARMOR, WEAPONS AND ARMOR, BUT THEY'RE NOT NATURAL WEAPONS,

THEY'RE SPIRITUAL WEAPONS.

THE GREATEST BATTLE THAT WE FIGHT IS IN OUR MIND.

I'M SURE A LOT OF YOU KNOW DARLENE ZSCHECH, AND YOU

PROBABLY KNOW THAT SHE FOUGHT A PRETTY FIERCE BATTLE

WITH CANCER HERE A FEW YEARS AGO.

AND I REMEMBER HER SAYING TO ME ONE TIME, "MAN, YOU TALK ABOUT

THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND," WHICH THAT'S BEEN

ONE OF MY CORNERSTONE TEACHINGS.

AND IT'S SO MUCH FUN TO SIT IN CHURCH AND HEAR

THE MESSAGES, AND CLAP, AND SHOUT, AND SAY, "AMEN,"

BUT WHEN YOU'VE GOTTA APPLY IT IN YOUR LIFE, WHEN I

HAVE TO APPLY IT IN MY LIFE, THAT'S WHEN WE NEED TO PULL OUT

THOSE MESSAGES AND PUT THEM TO WORK IN OUR LIFE.

HOW MANY YOU KNOW IT'S EASIER TO HEAR IT THAN IT IS

TO LIVE IT?

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: ALL RIGHT, SO THE MIND IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST AREAS

WHERE WE DO WAR.

YOU MAY HAVE THIS UNDERLINED, BUT I DON'T CARE.

I'M GONNA READ IT TO YOU AGAIN.

2 CORINTHIANS 10:4 AND 5, "THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE

ARE NOT PHYSICAL [WEAPONS OF FLESH AND BLOOD], OUR WEAPONS

ARE DIVINELY POWERFUL FOR THE DESTRUCTION

OF STRONGHOLDS."

WHAT IS A STRONGHOLD?

IT'S AN AREA WHERE SATAN DIGS

IN, KIND OF BURIES HIMSELF IN SOME AREA OF YOUR MIND,

AND YOU MAY HAVE A TYPE OF THINKING OR A THOUGHT PATTERN

THAT YOU'VE HAD FOR SO LONG THAT YOU DON'T EVEN REALIZE

IT'S A WRONG WAY TO THINK.

EXAMPLE, I WAS ABUSED SEXUALLY BY MY DAD FOR MOST OF THE YEARS

THAT I WAS GROWING UP.

IT'S NO SECRET. I TALK ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME.

MY MOM KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON, BUT SHE WAS KIND OF A WEAK,

JUST DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO STAND UP TO THINGS, AND SO SHE KNEW WHAT

HE WAS DOING, BUT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

AND SO, FOR A LONG TIME, I HAD THIS THINKING,

AND MAYBE SOME OF YOU HAVE THIS NOW AND THIS WILL HELP YOU.

I HAD THIS THINKING, KIND OF A SNEAKY LITTLE THING

THAT WELL, OKAY, I SURVIVED IT.

I'M AWAY NOW, BUT I'LL ALWAYS HAVE KIND OF A SECOND-RATE LIFE.

I'LL NEVER BE WHAT I COULD HAVE BEEN IF THAT

WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED TO ME.

AND THAT WAS A LIE FROM THE DEVIL.

NOT ONLY DO YOU HAVE TO LIVE A SECOND-RATE LIFE BECAUSE YOU

DIDN'T GET A GOOD BEGINNING.

WE SERVE A GOD WHO TAKES THE WORST THING

THAT COULD HAPPEN TO US.

COME ON, AND ACTUALLY WORKS IT OUT FOR OUR GOOD.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: BUT YOU SEE, AS LONG AS I BELIEVED THAT LIE

THAT WOULD ALWAYS HAVE A SECOND-RATE LIFE,

THEN I WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE A SECOND-RATE LIFE.

BUT WHEN I STARTED BELIEVING, "GOD, YOU CAN TAKE THIS AND YOU

CAN DO SOMETHING WITH IT.

YOU CAN TAKE THIS MESS AND TURN IT INTO A MIRACLE."

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORK THIS OUT IN MY HEAD, BUT I CAN TELL

YOU, I KNOW THAT BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED TO ME, I HAVE A BETTER

LIFE THAN I WAS WOULD HAVE IF IT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, THAT IS GOD.

SO, BE CAREFUL ABOUT THINGS THAT YOU HAVE BELIEVED

FOR A LONG TIME THAT JUST ARE NOT TRUE THINGS.

THAT'S WHY IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO HEAR THE WORD, AND READ

THE WORD, AND STUDY THE WORD, AND HEAR THE WORD, AND HEAR

THE WORD, BECAUSE IT IS THE TRUTH.

IT'S THE ONLY TRUTH THAT WE HAVE AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT DOESN'T

AGREE WITH IT IS A LIE AND IT'S FROM THE PIT OF HELL.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: GETTING OUR MINDS RENEWED ACCORDING

TO THE WORD OF GOD.

LUKE CHAPTER 4, EVERY TIME SATAN LIED TO JESUS

DURING THOSE 40 DAYS WHEN HE WAS BEING TESTED AND TRIED

IN THE WILDERNESS, INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, THE BIBLE

SAYS THE HOLY SPIRIT LED JESUS INTO THE WILDERNESS

TO BE TESTED.

WHY WOULD THE HOLY SPIRIT LEAD YOU INTO A TOUGH PLACE?

BECAUSE WE CAN'T JUST HEAR THIS STUFF.

WE HAVE TO APPLY IT AT SOME POINT IN OUR LIFE.

IT HAS TO BE TESTED TO EVEN GIVE US THE STRENGTH TO KNOW THAT WE

REALLY DO HAVE WHAT IT TAKES.

AND EVERY TIME, EVERY TIME THAT SATAN LIED TO JESUS, JESUS

SAID, IT SAYS, "THE DEVIL SAID TO JESUS AND JESUS SAID

TO THE DEVIL.

THE DEVIL SAID TO JESUS AND JESUS SAID TO THE DEVIL,

IT IS WRITTEN."

AND TWO TIMES, TWO OF THE LIES THAT SATAN TOLD HIM WAS ABOUT

WHO HE WAS.

"WELL, IF YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD.

WELL, IF GOD LOVES YOU, THEN WHY IS THIS HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE?

WELL, IF GOD LOVES YOU, THEN WHY IS THIS STILL HANGING ON?

YOUR PRAYERS AREN'T WORKING.

HE'S A LIAR, A LIAR, A LIAR,

AND THERE'S NOTHING THAT HE LOVES TO LIE TO YOU ABOUT

ANY MORE THAN WHO YOU ARE.

AND I THINK, JUST REALLY, I HAVE A SIMPLE PURPOSE THIS MORNING.

I WANT YOU TO GO OUT OF HERE KNOWING WHO YOU ARE

AND WHAT YOU HAVE.

YOU'RE A CHILD OF GOD AND HE LOVES YOU.

AND WE SAY THAT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN

THAT SOMETIMES, EVEN AS A MINISTER, I FORGET

HOW POWERFUL THAT IS IN PEOPLE'S LIVES, AND WE NEED TO NOT JUST

LET THAT FLOAT OVER US.

"YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, I KNOW I'M THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

IN CHRIST."

RIGHTEOUSNESS IS PART OF YOUR ARMOR,

BUT IT IS A WEAPON.

KNOWING WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST IS A WEAPON, AND HE WILL SAY

TO YOU, "WELL, IF YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD.

WELL, IF YOU ARE THE SON OF GOD."

AND JESUS CAME RIGHT BACK AND SAID, "IT IS WRITTEN."

WE TALKED TO A MAN LAST WEEK, ACTUALLY DAVE TALKED TO HIM

FIRST AND HE WAS GETTING A COFFEE AND SAW THE GENTLEMAN

IN THERE.

AND THEN I CAME UP RIGHT ABOUT THE TIME HE WAS LEAVING SO I GOT

TO TALK TO HIM TOO.

AND HE SAID, "EIGHT YEARS AGO, I WAS IN YOUR MEN'S HOME."

WE HAVE A DREAM CENTER LIKE THE ONES THAT TOMMY BARNETT

STARTED ONLY IN ST. LOUIS, AND IT'S A CHURCH

IN ONE OF THE WORST PARTS OF THE CITY WHERE PEOPLE JUST

HAVE LITERALLY ALMOST NOTHING.

AND I WANTED TO GO THERE BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE SOMETIMES

THAT NEED HOPE THE MOST.

PART OF THAT PROGRAM IS A MEN'S HOME, AND ALMOST ALL

THE MEN THAT GO THROUGH THERE AND HAVE GONE THROUGH THERE

WERE LIVING ON THE STREETS.

THEY WERE HOMELESS.

THEY WERE ALCOHOLICS.

THEY WERE DRUG ADDICTS.

THEY'D JUST GOTTEN OUT OF PRISON.

THEY WERE VETERANS WHO NEEDED HELP AND HAD JUST BEEN FORGOTTEN

ABOUT.

AND HE SAID, "I WAS IN YOUR MEN'S HOME

EIGHT YEARS AGO, AND NOW I OWN MY OWN CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS

THAT IS VERY SUCCESSFUL.

MY WIFE AND I HAVE TAKEN MISSIONS TRIPS, AND I JUST--WE

JUST STARTED A BRAND-NEW START-UP CHURCH AND WE'RE

MEETING IN--" HE TOLD ME THE HOTEL THAT THEY

WERE MEETING IN.

AND HE SAID, "YOU KNOW WHAT CHANGED MY LIFE?"

HE SAID, "WHEN I HEARD YOU SAY GOD LOVES YOU, HE'S NOT MAD

AT YOU, AND YOU ARE RIGHT WITH GOD THROUGH YOUR FAITH

IN JESUS CHRIST."

HE SAID, "I'D NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

I FELT LIKE THE TAIL END OF EVERYTHING.

I FELT LIKE GOD WAS MAD AT ME."

AND, YOU KNOW, I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE

THIS LITTLE SECRET VAGUE THINKING THAT GOD'S JUST

A LITTLE BIT TICKED OFF AT THEM.

AND I WANT TO TELL YOU TODAY, GOD IS NOT MAD AT YOU.

[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]

JOYCE: AND I DON'T KNOW, MAYBE EVERYBODY IN THIS BUILDING

TODAY, AND THOSE WATCHING ONLINE, AND THOSE THAT WILL SEE

IT ON TV, MAYBE YOU'VE HEARD THAT GOD LOVES YOU,

AND THAT HE'S NOT MAD AT YOU,

AND THAT YOU ARE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

IN CHRIST, BUT IF THERE'S ONE PERSON IN HERE TODAY,

OR ONE PERSON WATCHING TV, OR ONE PERSON WATCHING ONLINE

THAT YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE, GOD LOVES YOU, AND HE

LOVES YOU UNCONDITIONALLY.

GOD IS NOT MAD AT YOU.

EVEN THOUGH YOU'VE DONE THINGS AND DO THINGS WRONG, IF YOU'RE

REPENTANT, GOD IS NOT MAD AT YOU AND NO MATTER HOW BAD

OF A BEGINNING YOU HAD IN LIFE, YOU CAN HAVE A GOOD FINISH.

GOD IS FOR YOU.

YOU HAVE POWER, YOU HAVE AUTHORITY, AND THE DEVIL

DOES NOT HAVE TO RUN YOUR LIFE IF YOU DECIDE THAT YOU'RE

JUST NOT GONNA LET HIM.

JOYCE: WELL, WE ALWAYS WANT YOU TO REMEMBER THAT GOD LOVES

YOU AND HE'S FOR YOU, AND THE DEVIL DOES NOT

HAVE TO CONTROL YOUR LIFE AS LONG AS YOU DECIDE

NOT TO LET HIM.

GINGER'S JOINING ME NOW WITH YOUR QUESTIONS ON HOW

TO DEFEAT GIANTS, AND THEY ALSO TELL ME WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT

SOME SPECIFIC GIANTS SO-- GINGER: THERE ARE

A LOT OF GIANTS IN OUR LIVES,

THAT IS FOR SURE.

SO, ONE GENERAL QUESTION FIRST FROM JAMIE IN ALBERTA, SHE SAYS,

"HOW DO I STAY FOCUSED ON THE TRUTH OF THE WORD

INSTEAD OF THE GIANT?" JOYCE: WELL, IT'S A DECISION,

AND IT'S ALSO A BATTLE.

AND THAT'S WHERE WE CRY OUT TO GOD TO HELP US.

I'M NO DIFFERENT THAN ANYBODY ELSE, AND I'M SURE

YOU'RE NOT EITHER.

WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM COME UP, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A SUDDEN

PROBLEM, SOMETIMES IT TAKES EVEN A FEW DAYS TO GET

YOURSELF ADJUSTED AND, YOU KNOW, BASICALLY, YOU GOTTA TALK

TO YOURSELF.

I MEAN, YOU GOTTA REMIND YOURSELF OF ALL THESE

SCRIPTURES, AND THE PROMISES OF GOD, AND IT'S A GREAT TIME

TO BE AROUND PEOPLE THAT WILL ENCOURAGE YOU AND NOT PEOPLE

THAT WILL DISCOURAGE YOU.

AND NOT THAT IT'S WRONG TO TALK TO SOMEBODY ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE

GOING THROUGH, I DON'T MEAN THAT AT ALL, BUT ACTUALLY, I FOUND

AND JUST HAD AN EXPERIENCE RECENTLY WHERE WE REALLY HAVE

TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT JUST TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM JUST TO BE

TALKING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE MORE YOU DO THAT,

THE MORE EMBEDDED IT GETS IN YOUR MIND.

AND SO, I GUESS DON'T FEEL BAD IF IT TAKES YOU A LITTLE WHILE

TO ADJUST.

I THINK THAT'S PRETTY NORMAL, BUT I THINK A LOT

ABOUT WHAT PAUL TOLD TIMOTHY, FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH.

AND IT IS FIGHT SOMETIMES, SO JUST BE STEADFAST AND, YOU

KNOW, GOD KNOWS YOUR HEART.

YOU DO THE BEST THAT YOU CAN AND GOD'LL HELP YOU

WITH WHAT YOU CAN'T DO.

GINGER: BUT WHEN IT IS TIME TO FIGHT, GOD'S WORD IS

THAT WEAPON THAT WE USE, SO STAYING FOCUSED ON THAT

AS MUCH AS WE CAN REALLY MAKES-- JOYCE: FOCUSING ON THAT,

BEING AROUND POSITIVE PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, DON'T GET OUT AND DO

SOMETHING SOMETIMES.

DON'T JUST, YOU KNOW, IF YOU'RE BY YOURSELF AND YOU GOT

NOTHING TO THINK ABOUT BUT THE PROBLEM, IT'S GONNA--

THE MORE YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THE BIGGER IT GETS, AND SO WE

NEED TO FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO FOCUS ON.

GINGER: WELL, HERE'S A SPECIFIC GIANT.

THIS QUESTION COMES FROM PRUDENCE IN SOUTH AFRICA.

"HOW DO I DEAL WITH THE MEMORIES OF MY TRAUMATIC PAST

THAT WON'T GO AWAY?

IT'S HARD TO LOOK INTO THE FUTURE

WITH THOSE MEMORIES LOOMING."

GINGER: WELL, GOD WILL GIVE US THE ABILITY TO GET THINGS OFF

OF OUR MIND.

YOU KNOW, I HAD A VERY TRAUMATIC PAST ALSO.

NOW, YOU KNOW, IT COULD BE SOMETHING THAT'S GONNA REQUIRE

SOME PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING, SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP.

HERE AGAIN, IT TAKES TIME, YOU KNOW?

IT'S LIKE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, TO BE HONEST WITH YOU,

I'LL FIND MY MIND DRIFTING BACK TO SOMETHING THAT MY DAD

DID TO ME WHEN HE WAS SEXUALLY ABUSING ME.

AND SOMETIMES, WELL, MATTER OF FACT, A LOT OF TIMES,

IF I'M IN A PLACE WHERE I CAN, I'LL JUST SAY, "NO," OUT LOUD,

"NO, I'M NOT GOING BACK THERE.

THAT HAPPENED TO SOMEBODY THAT DIED WITH CHRIST AND IS

RESURRECTED TO A NEW LIFE, AND I'M NOT GONNA LIVE IN THAT."

THIS FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH IS AN INTERESTING

SUBJECT, AND I THINK ONE I'M PROBABLY GONNA TEACH ON

BEFORE LONG BECAUSE FAITH DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU'RE NEVER

GONNA HAVE A DOUBT TRY TO ENTER YOUR MIND, THAT YOU'RE NEVER

GONNA, YOU KNOW, HAVE ANYTHING TRY TO DRAG YOU BACK

TO THE PAST.

I WAS READING SOME STUFF AGAIN THIS MORNING AND, BY A WRITER,

AND EVEN TALKING TO MY DAUGHTER ABOUT HOW WE JUST HAVE TO BE

SO CAREFUL ABOUT THE MIND THING AND REMEMBERING A SCRIPTURE

THAT SAYS TO RESIST THE DEVIL AT THE ONSET.

IT'S IN THE AMPLIFIED CLASSIC VERSION IN 1 PETER 5,

"RESIST THE DEVIL AT HIS ONSET."

AND SO, THE--LIKE FOR THIS GIRL,

WHEN THOSE MEMORIES START TO COME BACK, FIRST OF ALL, PRAY

THAT GOD WILL MAKE YOU AWARE OF THEM 'CAUSE, YOU KNOW,

SOMETIMES WE CAN BE THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING 20 MINUTES

BEFORE WE'RE EVEN AWARE OF WHAT WE'RE THINKING ABOUT.

SO, I PRAY, "GOD, MAKE ME AWARE RIGHT AWAY," AND THEN I FIND

THAT SPEAKING OUT LOUD REALLY HELPS ME JUST TO SAY, NO.

I'M NOT GONNA DO THAT.

HERE AGAIN, GET UP AND GO DO SOMETHING ELSE.

YOU CAN INTERRUPT WHAT SATAN'S TRYING TO DO BY JUST GOING

AND DOING SOMETHING ELSE.

IF YOU CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO DO,

YOU CAN WATCH ME ON TV OR-- GINGER: THAT'S A GOOD IDEA.

JOYCE: OR WATCH, YOU KNOW, GET SOME GOOD MUSIC ON,

JUST YOU GOTTA FIGHT.

GINGER: ALL RIGHT, QUESTION FROM RYAN IN PHILADELPHIA.

"HOW DO I GAIN CONFIDENCE IN MY LIFE?

ONE OF MY BIGGEST DEMONS IS A LACK OF SELF-ESTEEM."

JOYCE: THE ONLY WAY THAT YOU CAN DO THAT IS TO LEARN MORE

AND MORE AND MORE ABOUT WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST.

YOU KNOW, WE TALK A LOT ABOUT WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST,

AND SO IF YOU'RE HAVING A GIANT OF INSECURITY ATTACK YOUR LIFE,

WHICH WE ALL DO AT DIFFERENT TIMES.

GINGER: OH, THAT GIANT'S A NASTY ONE.

JOYCE: YEAH, TO BE HONEST, AND A LOT OF THESE ANSWERS

ARE GONNA BE SIMILAR BECAUSE I'VE FOUND, TOO, LIKE IF I'M

STARTING TO FEEL--YOU KNOW, LIKE MY DAD WAS ALWAYS ANGRY.

AND SO, I DEVELOPED THIS FEAR THAT IF HE WAS ANGRY, THAT I

MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING, AND YOU NEVER KNEW HOW HE

WAS GONNA EXPLODE.

SO, I STILL, IF I'M AROUND SOMEBODY THAT'S ANGRY, OR EVEN

SOMEBODY THAT ACTS LIKE THEY'RE UNHAPPY ABOUT SOMETHING, I HAVE

TO BE VERY CAREFUL BECAUSE THE THOUGHTS WILL--I'LL START

TO FEEL INSECURE THAT, "WELL, DID I DO SOMETHING?"

AND HERE AGAIN, I TRY TO CATCH THAT RIGHT IN THE BEGINNING

AND SAY, "NO, AND IF I DID SOMETHING, THEN THEY NEED

TO TELL ME WHAT IT WAS."

SOMETIMES I'LL EVEN GO TO THE EXTREME IF THE DEVIL

JUST KEEPS BUGGING ME, I'LL JUST CALL THE PERSON

AND SAY, "OKAY, I MAY BE WAY OFF, BUT I JUST WANT TO KNOW

IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG BETWEEN US?"

AND SOMETIMES, YOU JUST GOTTA--YOU DON'T WANT TO FEEL

FOOLISH BECAUSE NINETY-NINE AND NINE-TENTHS

PERCENT OF THE TIME, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG,

BUT THAT'S BETTER.

I WOULD RATHER ASK AND LET THE TRUTH KILL THAT GIANT

THAN TO GO AROUND WONDERING AND LETTING IT EXPLODE

IN MY MIND.

BUT OUR CONFIDENCE, YEAH, SOME PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY MORE

NATURALLY CONFIDENT THAN OTHERS, BUT REAL CONFIDENCE, GOD

DOESN'T WANT US TO BE CONFIDENT IN OURSELVES.

OUR CONFIDENCE HAS TO BE IN CHRIST.

AND SO, I SAY WHETHER YOU LACK CONFIDENCE OR YOU'RE

OVERLY CONFIDENT, EVERY DAY AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY WE NEED

TO SAY, "GOD, I'M LEANING ON YOU BECAUSE I KNOW I'M NOTHING

WITHOUT YOU."

GINGER: GOOD.

THIS QUESTION ASKS, "MY GIANT IS I DON'T KNOW IF MY PRAYERS

ARE REACHING THE RIGHT PLACE OR MAYBE I DON'T KNOW

HOW TO PRAY.

I NEED DIRECTION."

JOYCE: OKAY WELL, THAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST LIES

THAT SATAN TELLS PEOPLE, AND I'M GOOD WITH THIS SUBJECT RIGHT NOW

BECAUSE I JUST INCLUDED SOME TEACHING ABOUT THIS

IN A MESSAGE THAT I WAS WORKING ON.

SATAN LOVES TO TELL US THAT OUR PRAYERS ARE DOING

NO GOOD BECAUSE, MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE,

HE'S AFRAID OF OUR PRAYERS.

HE WILL DO ANYTHING TO KEEP YOU FROM PRAYING.

HE'LL MAKE YOU BUSY.

HE'LL MAKE YOU SLEEPILY, BUT HE REALLY TRIES TO TELL US

THAT WE'RE PRAYING WRONG.

YOU KNOW, MY PRAYERS DON'T TEND TO BE SUPER LONG.

I SEEM TO--I MEAN, I KNOW THAT I CAN NORMALLY TALK ALL DAY, BUT I

SEEM TO BE ABLE TO TELL GOD WHAT I WANT IN PRETTY SHORT ORDER,

YOU KNOW, WHAT I NEED.

AND SO MANY TIMES THE DEVIL WILL TELL ME,

"WELL, THAT WASN'T LONG ENOUGH."

AND SO--BUT GOD TOLD-- GINGER: WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE.

JOYCE: YEAH, BUT GOD TOLD ME ONE TIME, "WHY DON'T YOU

TRY ASKING ME FOR WHAT YOU WANT IN AS FEW WORDS AS POSSIBLE,"

BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO THE OTHER EXTREME OF JUST GOING ON AND ON

AND ON AND ON AND ON ABOUT SOMETHING.

SO, THE ENEMY HAS HIS SPECIAL LIES THAT HE HAS THAT HE APPLIES

TO PEOPLE'S WEAKNESSES, BUT I CAN TELL YOU, NOT EVERYBODY,

BUT ALMOST EVERYBODY HAS THAT FEELING, KIND OF VAGUE

OVER HERE SOMEWHERE, THAT THEIR PRAYERS AREN'T DOING

ANY GOOD.

AND THE BOTTOM LINE IS IS WE GOTTA TRUST GOD'S WORD.

"IF YOU ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO MY WILL, I WILL DO IT."

THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE'LL DO IT RIGHT THIS MINUTE.

MATTER OF FACT, IT ACTUALLY SAYS IN MARK 11 THAT IF YOU BELIEVE

THAT YOU RECEIVE, YOU WILL GET IT.

DOESN'T SAY WHEN YOU'LL GET IT.

SO, THE KEY IS IS TO DO YOUR PRAYING AND THEN THERE'S

THIS PERIOD OF BELIEVING AND WAITING WHERE, WHEN DOUBTS

COME TO YOU, YOU JUST SAY, "I BELIEVE THAT GOD IS WORKING.

I BELIEVE THAT GOD IS WORKING."

SO, I THINK IT'LL JUST REALLY HELP THIS PERSON TO REALIZE

THE DEVIL LIES TO ALL OF US AND EACH ONE OF US HAS TO MAKE

OUR MIND UP THAT WE'RE EITHER GONNA BELIEVE GOD'S WORD

OR HOW WE FEEL.

GINGER: AND I REMEMBER GOING THROUGH ALL THESE DIFFERENT

STUDIES, AND ALMOST LIKE FORMULAS, FOR PRAYERS

THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK.

AND, OF COURSE, WE HAD TO BE PRAYING ACCORDING TO GOD'S WORD

OR IT DOES NOTHING, BUT THERE IS NO SPECIFIC FORMULA THAT YOU

HAVE TO BE PRAYING THIS WORD FOR IT TO WORK.

GOD JUST WANTS OUR HEART.

SO, THAT REALLY SET ME FREE IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT WAYS

IS REALIZING IT'S JUST THAT COMMUNICATION WITH GOD

AND PRAYING IN LINE WITH HIS WILL AND HIS WORD.

JOYCE: ANOTHER THING THAT HAPPENS TO ME, GINGER,

IS BECAUSE I'M PRETTY COMMITTED TO PRAYER, I'LL FIND MYSELF

THINKING, YOU KNOW, I NEED TO COME UP WITH SOME DIFFERENT

STUFF TO PRAY ABOUT.

YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU PRAY ON A PRETTY REGULAR BASIS,

YOU CAN END UP FEELING LIKE YOU'RE PRAYING ABOUT

THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER ALL THE TIME.

SO, I JUST ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO PUT THINGS ON MY HEART

OR TO SHOW ME PEOPLE THAT NEED MY PRAYERS, BUT I'M NOT GONNA

MAKE SOMETHING UP, OTHERWISE I'M JUST GONNA TELL THE LORD,

"I LOVE YOU.

I NEED YOUR HELP TODAY. YOU'RE AWESOME."

I PRAY FOR MY KIDS EVERY DAY.

I PRAY FOR OUR MINISTRY PARTNERS.

I PRAY FOR MYSELF SO I KEEP MYSELF OUT OF TROUBLE.

I PRAY FOR MY HUSBAND.

AND THE ENEMY'S JUST GONNA TRY TO GET YOU NOT TO DO IT

AND TO THINK THAT IT'S NOT DOING ANY GOOD.

GINGER: ALL RIGHT, HERE'S A QUESTION FROM SANDRA,

"ONE MOMENT MY FAITH IS STRONG AND POSITIVE, AND THE NEXT I

FEEL LIKE THE DEVIL JUST TRIPPED ME INTO STEPPING ON ME

WITH HIS FOOT.

HE HOLDS ME DOWN THERE.

I TRY TO FIGHT HIM OFF UNTIL I GET TIRED AND WEARY.

HOW DO I STAY POSITIVE WHEN LIVING

WITH THAT KIND OF NEGATIVITY?" JOYCE: WELL, YOU KNOW,

THE LONGER THAT YOU'RE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST,

THE EASIER ALL OF THIS BECOMES, TO BE HONEST.

THERE'S--I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANY AMOUNT OF BOOK LEARNING

THAT EVER TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER EXPERIENCE, AND WHAT I MEAN

BY EXPERIENCE IS HAVING TO APPLY THAT BOOK LEARNING

IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE.

I DON'T MEAN THAT OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES ARE GREATER

THAN THE WORD OF GOD, BUT, I MEAN, YOU CAN UNDERLINE

YOUR WHOLE BIBLE, AND IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD TO USE ANY OF IT,

SO THE MORE YOU USE YOUR FAITH, IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU'LL NEVER

HAVE A BATTLE WITH IT, BUT THE LONGER YOU'RE

IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, THE QUICKER YOU'LL RECOGNIZE

THE ENEMY, YOU KNOW, THE MORE-- YOU'RE STILL GONNA HAVE TO FIGHT

THE GOOD FIGHT FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT I FIND FOR ME,

ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S HARD FOR ME IS WHEN I'M NOT FEELING GOOD.

IF YOU DON'T FEEL GOOD, TO BE HONEST, IT DOES AFFECT

YOU SPIRITUALLY.

GINGER: IT SURE DOES.

JOYCE: AS WELL AS PHYSICALLY.

AND SO, I THINK I JUST HAVE TO SAY TO ALL THESE PEOPLE,

JOIN THE CLUB.

YOU KNOW, THE ENEMY PROBABLY TRIES TO MAKE YOU THINK

THAT YOU'RE OUT THERE BY YOURSELF AND YOU'RE

THE ONLY ONE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS.

GINGER: WE ALL GET TRICKED NOW AND THEN.

JOYCE: THIS WOULD BE THE VALUE OF CHRISTIANS SHARING

MORE OPENLY, AND EVERYBODY NOT TRYING TO PRETEND

LIKE THEY HAVE-- GINGER: AMEN, THAT IS

SO TRUE.

JOYCE: AND A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP, WHICH I THINK

THERE IS A LOT OF THAT AND BEING MORE HONEST,

I THINK CAN HELP A LOT OF PEOPLE.

SO, I GUESS WE'RE JUST ABOUT OUT OF TIME, RIGHT?

WE CAN'T ANSWER ANY MORE OF THESE GIANT QUESTIONS.

WELL, TODAY THOUGH, WE DO HAVE SOME MORE HELP FOR YOU

AND SOME GREAT RESOURCES THAT WILL HELP YOU CONFRONT

AND DEFEAT YOUR GIANTS.

WE'RE OFFERING YOU FOUR TEACHINGS CALLED

"WINNING LIFE'S BATTLES" AND A BOOK CALLED,

"LET GOD FIGHT YOUR BATTLES."

AND I THINK THAT YOU'RE GONNA ENJOY BOTH OF THESE.

SO, I RECOMMEND THAT YOU GET ALL THE HELP THAT YOU CAN HAVE.

I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS YOU'RE GONNA FIND OUT IS

YOU'RE NOT THAT MUCH DIFFERENT THAN ALL THE REST OF US.

THERE'S CERTAIN THINGS WE ALL NEED TO DO TO STAY STRONG,

SO I PRAY THAT YOU'LL GET THESE RESOURCES

AND LET THEM MINISTER TO YOU.

GOD BLESS YOU.

ANNOUNCER: HAVE YOU EVER FELT LIKE YOU'RE ALL ALONE, FIGHTING

LIFE'S BATTLES AGAINST SOMETHING YOU CAN'T SEE?

OR MAYBE YOU'RE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULT TIMES THAT ARE

SEEMINGLY TOO IMPOSSIBLE TO HANDLE.

WITH GOD, YOU DON'T HAVE TO FACE LIFE'S TRIALS ALONE.
