Nearly three weeks after the historic summit between North Korea and the U.S.,... the delegations

of the two countries have met again to discuss Pyongyang's denuclearization.

U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, Sung Kim met with North Korean Vice Foreign Minister

Choe Son-hui at the inter-Korean truce village of Panmunjom on Sunday.

Yonhap News Agency reports that the two countries most likely discussed the details of U.S.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Pyongyang scheduled for this week,... which

analysts see as an important step in Pyongyang's denuclearization.

Kim and Choe held a series of meetings leading up to the Singapore summit on June 12th.

Two Koreas to play basketball this week as cooperation ramps up - Duration: 2:27.

Following the series of high-level and working-level talks held between the two Koreas last month...

more inter-Korean meetings are lined up this week as well.

Representatives of Seoul and Pyongyang are meeting to discuss cooperation in various

fields ranging from sports, forestry, infrastructure and preparations for reunions of families

separated by the Korean War.

Cha Sang-mi reports.

Seoul and Pyongyang have been extremely busy since their landmark summit in April, and

efforts to follow through on the Panmunjom Declaration are continuing in July.

A hundred-member South Korean delegation led by the nation's unification minister Cho Myoung-gyon

is heading to Pyongyang on Tuesday for four inter-Korean basketball games scheduled for

Wednesday and Thursday.

The group includes Minister Cho, four other government officials, 50 male and female basketball

players and a panel of referees, 30 members of the press, and 15 staff.

This will be the fourth time the two Koreas haved played basketball together; the last

time was 15 years ago in 2003.

Seoul and Pyongyang had agreed to hold the friendlies while discussing sports cooperation

last month.

At those talks, they also decided to field a joint women's basketball team at the upcoming

2018 Asian Games in Indonesia in August.

Come Wednesday, the two Koreas will also sit down to discuss forestation projects.

Ryu Kwang-soo, vice minister of the South Korean Forest Service and two other officials

will meet their North Korean counterparts and discuss ways to tackle the degradation

of forests in the North by overlogging and farming.

The forestation task force was the first to be launched after the April 27th Panmunjom

summit,...

South Korea's presidential office deeming forestation the most urgent thing.

Meanwhile, discussions continue on infrastructure.

The joint inspections of the Gyeongui Road linking Seoul and the North Korean city of

Sinuiju and the Donghae Road along the Peninsula's east coast will begin in mid-July.

Preparations also continue for reunions of families separated by the Korean War.

Those are scheduled for a week starting August 20th at the North's Mount Kumkang resort.

On July 25th, the South and North will exchange lists of people who'll possibly attend the

reunions.

But first, the South Korean government will narrow them down to 250 people out of an initial

500 that were selected.

Once the lists are exchanged, they'll come up with a final list of participants -- a

hundred from each side -- by August 4th.

U.S. plans to dismantle N. Korea's nuclear, missile programs within a year: Bolton - Duration: 2:06.

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton has publicly revealed Washington's timeline

for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula for the first time.

Kim Hyo-sun tells us more.

John Bolton,...

President Trump's National Security Adviser said Sunday that the United States aims to

dismantle North Korea's nuclear weapons program in a year.

"Well, what our experts have devised is a program that with North Korean cooperation,

with full disclosure of all of their chemical and biological nuclear programs, ballistic

missile sites...

We can get, physically, we would be able to dismantle the overwhelming bulk of their programs

within a year."

That's what Bolton said during his interview with CBS' "Face the Nation,"... and it's the

first time for a member of the Trump administration to publicly state a timeline for the North's

denuclearization.

This also comes ahead of U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's scheduled visit to Pyongyang

later this week.

In addition,... Bolton pointed out that it's advantageous for the North to move quickly

to achieve the goal of complete denuclearization, which the regime committed to during the Singapore

summit on June 12th.

"And it's to North Korea's advantage to see these programs dismantled very quickly because

then the elimination of sanctions, aid by South Korea and Japan and others can all begin

to flow."

In a Sunday interview with Fox News,...

President Trump said North Korea is (quote) "very serious" about denuclearization.

He also reiterated that he got along with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un,... adding

that the two discussed various issues including denuclearization as well as the return of

the remains of U.S. troops killed during the Korean War.

Saying there were no concessions made by Washington,...

President Trump also highlighted that he envisions a great future for North Korea.

Heavy showers, strong winds to lash Korea until Tuesday - Duration: 1:19.

Our top story this morning.

The summer monsoon is bringing torrential rain to South Korea.... and heavy showers

are expected throughout this Monday and into Tuesday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration has heavy rain alerts in place for the Jeolla-do

Provinces and parts of Gyeonggi-do Province.

Thunder, lightning and heavy rain of up to 30 millimeters an hour is in the forecast

for the central region.

Torrential rains have been slamming the nation since Saturday, causing houses and rice paddies

to flood and some rail services to be cancelled.

Hundreds of walking trails in 18 national parks have been closed as of Sunday.

Korea's national weather agency is also warning of the threat of flooding and landslides.

Making matters worse,...

South Korea is also under the influence of Typhoon (pra-pee-roon) Prapiroon, a typhoon

that formed near Japan's Okinawa Island a few days ago.

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon says the central and municipal governments will be on 24-hour

emergency alert until the country is out of the typhoon's influence.

He said the government will share up-to-date information about the typhoon and promptly

take measures to prevent damage.

Typhoon Prapiroon to affect Korea's southern coastal regions - Duration: 1:44.

So... the seventh typhoon of the season, (pra-pee-roon) Prapiroon, meaning 'God of Rain' in Thailand

is bringing rain and strong winds to Korea's southern coastal regions and southeastern

regions.

For more on the typhoon and the weather updates for the rest of the day, let's connect to

Good morning, Mark.

Severe Tropical Storm Prapiroon is forecast to move in an easterly direction, so inland

regions will not be directly affected by the typhoon but Busan, Jeju Island and southern

coastal regions will endure tropical-storm-force winds and torrential rainfall from Monday

night into Tuesday.

Concern is on the rise as we've been seeing heavy monsoon showers across the nation AND

moisture from Prapiroon is only going to trigger heavier showers.

Eighty to 150 millimeters of rain will soak the nation until Tuesday, authorities have

warned to be careful of flooding and landslides

Upper regions will see rising temperatures, kicking off at 21 degrees Celsius in Seoul

and Daejeon.

As for the highs, Seoul will see a high of 26 degrees.. four degrees higher than yesterday,

25 degrees in Chuncheon,... while most cities will see highs in the upper twenties.

We need to be alert and aware of storm dangers for the next couple of days.
