And today our guest, as I said in the very beginning, is Belarusian squonk RDA
This is Caiman BF by Vape Systems
And from the start I want to sincerely apologize before Sergey for such a late review
But better later, than when reviews are all out in the same day, cuz bam-bam and everyone forgot about the device
Yeah, Caiman BF isn't the new device, many reviewers already told about it, but today I'll share my opinion with you
Let's not get deep into Caiman or ByKa and stuff
Let's dive down right away, we'll disassemble, assemble it back, put a build in it and test it. And after that I'll tell you my opinion
Let's go
Okay friends, let's get to it and unbox this standard packaging by Vape Systems, which you already saw several times on my channel
Under the cover we're met by the User Manual in Russian and English language
This is detailed manual with pictures and it's very important to read it before use
Also in the kit we have this soft cloth. Apparently it's here for that the kit contents inside would stay in place
Also in the kit we have an RDA itself, transparent polycarbonate barrel and black delrin barrel
And a bag with spares, inside of which we'll look right now
Inside we have a key for BF pin, a key for unscrewing replaceable airflow plugs, by the way - in my kit there's 4 of them with different airflow hole diameters
Regular pin and two extra post screws
And a set of spare o-rings
Okay, contents of my kit might be different than yours and we'll talk about that a little bit later
And now let's discuss the specs
Okay, this RDA is made out of 304 stainless steel and the main color of it is the color of the metal itself
But in addition there's available black delrin barrel section and transparent barrel section
This RDA is featuring a 510 drip tips slot, top fill and top cap with multi thread, top cap have spherical machining inside
Also it features leak-proof system, single coil deck with replaceable airflow plugs with 1.2, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.3mm holes
Squonk system is implemented as two tubes, also this RDA have adjustable airflow and option to use it with regular pin
Diameter of this RDA is 22mm, height without drip tip is 35mm
But let's do this in order. Here I have a delrin/metal 510 drip tip. This drip tip is held by two o-rings
You can buy drip tips separately and this drip tip is two-part - you can unscrew top portion of it counter clockwise
Inner hole diameter is 4.7mm, as for me - that's too much
But I'm not going to argue with manufacturer. As it says - it's up to you
Next goes the top cap that we've seen before - first purpose of it is to hold the drip tip and second purpose is the top fill
It opens plain and simple - with a half-turn, since there's implemented multi thread
It happens like so. It's pretty fast and easy
Next part of the device is metal barrel. As you can see it have a Caiman BF engraving and heat sink fins
Barrel is unscrewing counter clockwise, because it have a threading
Inside it have a spherical machining
Also there's a leak-proof system because of the top cap. Some portion of liquid will stay inside if you will flip the device upside down
In the most complete kit of this device you'll find that plastic barrel and if you want you can buy a black delrin barrel - it also have engraving
And in both cases there is a spherical machining inside
A device with delrin barrel will be looking like so. As you can see black drip tip here is just necessary
And with transparent polycarbonate barrel device is look like so
And in these two cases you must be careful, since it's a plastic and this plastic will be screwed on the metal thread
If something will go wrong and you'll miss the thread - you can possibly cut a new thread. So you must be very careful with plastic threads
We're moving forward and here's the deck. There's a lot of interesting await for us and a lot of familiar things
First thing you'll see is the posts - it's classic post design, we won't be sharpening attention on it. It's pretty convenient posts for tightening the coil leads
In the middle, between the posts, the airflow is located - it's a replaceable plug
You can comfortably switch it with this key from the kit. By the way, this key have a hole so you can attach it to your keychain
This beaut is working like so - you simply place this key inside and unscrew the airflow plug counter clockwise
Regarding the replaceable airflow plugs - in standard kit there will be 3 airflow plugs - 1.4, 1.7 and 2.3mm
You can buy 1.2mm airflow plug separately
You can put it back like so - push the plug inside and screw it down clockwise. Boom and airflow plug is in place and ready to work
Let's continue the overview. Here you can notice two tubes, which is located near the posts
These tubes have a small hole - through this holes the liquid will get into the chamber when you use this RDA with squonk mod
Also, pay attention to the depth of juice well - it's pretty deep and it can hold a decent amount of liquid
The squonk system of this RDA is pretty unusual. Usually there's a hole at the bottom of the deck
It's made that way for the fact, that when we release the bottle - excess liquid would suck back in
And it didn't leave any liquid inside - only saturating the cotton
Here it will fill the juice well and suck the liquid back only when it reach the holes
So that's the manufacturer's vision of squonk system, but we're moving on
Lower we have an airflow adjustment ring and 5 air intake holes
Adjustment works like so - you simply turn this ring right or left.
Unfortunately the ring doesn't have a stopper and it's spins around. It's inconvenient when you disassemble or unscrew the top cap
And there's cutouts on the ring, so it'll be more convenient to rotate it
On the bottom we have a serial number, name of the device
Logo of the manufacturer, two screws which is holding the deck and BF pin
As I said before, in the kit we have another key, which is having a hole, so you could've attach it to keychain.
And with this key you can unscrew the BF pin
It works like so - insert the key and twist it counter clockwise
So if you're not going to use it in squonk mode - you have a regular flat head pin
Friends, I think many ByKa fans is got used to the fact, that device is fully disassemblable. This device is no exception, but now posts are press-fitted
You can push it out, of course, but manufacturer recommend not to
But anyway, we can disassemble thing or two. To do so we need to unscrew two screws on the bottom
After you got rid off those screws - you can remove the bottom portion, which is held by a single o-ring
There's no need to do this regularly, you may disassemble it only if you need to do a wash thoroughly your device to get rid of old flavors
Because the liquid will be gathering in this part
Next, according to the manufacturer's recommendation, you shouldn't unscrew or disassemble anything else
Because you may shift some parts and device will become unusable
So we'll end the disassembly at this point as well and will assemble it back
Yes, this is air intake hole
And we screw down the BF pin - we'll understand how the liquid supply system works
Liquid get through this hole, goes into this part and through this holes it gets into the tubes and go up
There's screws in those holes and everything is hermetically sealed
And this o-ring prevents liquid from getting into the air intake hole
Overall this is pretty interesting squonk system solution
I think it's time to assemble it back and put the build in it
I'll be using the coils that I already got used to and know it for 100%. This is fused clapton by Vandy Vape, which is made specially for MTL devices
I'll make 6-7 wraps on 2.5mm rod and it should be enough for me

So, friends, everything is ready. Device is loaded and saturated, battery is installed, bottle filled
I think it's time to get back to face-time, vape this Caiman and talk about its pros and cons

Friends, for me there's MTL daddy and MTL mommy, I call them that way. This is MTL mommy - Caiman, ByKa and all that stuff
Overall the Vape Systems products
On these exact MTL's I was raising my skill of using MTL devices
I'm respectful to both - and to makers of Kayfun and to makers of ByKa. Equally respectful, because this is two great devices for MTL with proper cigarette-like draw
These people brought a lot of great products into the history of MTL devices
And this is another great product by Vape Systems
Anyway, friends, now I'll tell you my opinion about this device. There's and cons and nitpicks and wishes and pros
Let's begin in order. Cons
As before, in previous Vape System devices, I said that there's no stopper on the airflow adjustment ring. There's no stopper in this device as well
But before filming this review I looked into the official Ecigtalk thread of Vape Systems, where they are announcing their new devices
And I saw ByKa 8. So, ByKa 8 have that stopper on airflow adjustment ring
Very sad that it isn't here. I don't like when that ring spin around
I'm done with some major issues, let's talk about nitpicks
As for me, 4.7mm hole in drip tip is too much
4mm is just fine for me, but it's all subjective. I like when it's narrower, than 4.7
Next nitpick goes to the keys for airflow plugs and squonk pin. These keys categorically lack the knurling on it for convenient holding
This was final nitpick, but I have some wishes
And my first wish is regarding the barrel fixation
On one hand thread is convenient and reliable, on the other hand - it's not that fast as I wish it was
Guys are using multi thread for long ago on the top cap , but decided to use regular thread on the barrel
I want faster access to coils
Judging by the design - there was a chance to reduce the chamber. It was possible, but if there was another type of fixation of a barrel
That would be much faster and with half-turn
You would've locked the key-notch system, fixate the barrel in certain position and you could've adjust it the way, so the chamber would be narrowed
And reduction of a chamber affected the flavor of this device even better
I don't have any complaints about the flavor, but if the chamber was smaller - it would've been just fire
I hope Sergey will listen to my opinion and will invent something with narrowed chamber. Let's move on
It's not the first time, when many people face with the fact, that when they receive Vape Systems device - device have that weird and memorable flavor
You will not mistake it with anything else. Such flavor and smell is only in new ByKa's. Or in Caimans.
Overall, when this device arrived to me, this was pretty long ago, first thing I checked was the draw
And I instantly felt that familiar flavor
But, after this device laid in my closet for a long period of time - this smell and flavor has disappeared on its own
I didn't washed this device and smell has disappeared on its own. It's kinda funny on one hand
But on the other hand - be ready - when this device will get to you - you need to give it a good wash to get rid of that smell and flavor
There is such a problem, many people talk about it, let's move on
It's sorta funny to chain vape when you have a cold and one nostril is clogged
Okay, friends, we're done with cons, nitpicks and wishes. Now let's talk about pros
And first pro I'll give this device for quality of manufacturing. I will not even talk much about it
Overall quality is top notch - threads, fitting, parts, everything is great
Machining is great too. And it's a pro
Next pro I'll give, as always, for convenience of use. Convenient coil installation, convenient wicking, everything screws and fixates nicely
A pro for convenience
Next pro I'll give for a correct MTL draw, for proper cigarette-like draw
Which you can adjust with the airflow adjustment ring or by replaceable airflow plug
Respect for proper MTL. Let's move on
Of course I can't bypass the flavor. There is zero issues with the flavor in this device.
The flavor on this device is great and that's it
I'll give it a pro for an option of interchangeable airflows. It's universality, it's good and everyone can adjust it the way they like
I'll give it a pro for the possibility of complete disassembly for cleaning, maintenance and so on
Overall this is good and universal
Of course, I'll give this device a pro for support of squonk box mods
Many people will like this
And last pro I'll give for the design - for sustaining of classic style of the device. This black barrel looks just awesome
Besides, this device is pretty quiet. Yes, there's some rustling sound during a puff, but it's very minor
Overall let's summarize and first thing we'll talk about is price point
Obviously, price tag wouldn't be low, it will not be a Chinese price tag for sure, because it's made in Belarus
And ByKa always costed around 100$
My kit is different from so called full kit. Here I have two additional elements - black delrin barrel and 1.2mm airflow plug
So if you want the exact same kit - you will need to buy a black barrel and airflow plug separately
So, the price. Standard full version is gonna cost you 6070 rubles(93$)
Black delrin barrel is gonna cost you 660 rubles(10$)
And additional airflow plug is gonna cost you 264 rubles(4$)
And again, the price will vary depending on the exchange rate.
Because when I went to the website I see price tags with cents and so on - so I guess the website translates the price into rubles
But I'll say it again - price tags on ByKa's and Caimans never been low, just like the Kayfuns price tags and other authentic devices
I don't see a point to rage about the price. You have a lot of other options what you can buy besides ByKa or Caiman
There is a huge MTL market right now, everyone can find anything
And such devices will be bought by the people who do understand what they're buying and what they're paying for
And I'll say this, friends - this device is absolutely worth of every penny that manufacturer charging for it. That's it
