Waching daily Oct 28 2018

As I hope most of you are aware, I make about half a dozen travel videos a year:

short documentaries about different places in Germany,

some well-known, some not-so-well-known, all very interesting for various reasons.

So far this year, I've made videos about Konstanz, Friedrichshafen,

Steinau, Brandenburg and Potsdam;

and there are two more to come, so watch this space.

Now, I won't say that I'm the world's best travel documentary maker,

although I hope that I continue to improve.

And I think I have improved in the past,

because now when I go back and look at some of my older videos,

they make me cringe.

But that's a good thing:

many people have pointed out that if you can look back at one of your older videos

and not find a ton of mistakes in it,

that means you haven't learned anything.

Back in the early days of YouTube,

I used to try to encourage people to make videos about the places where they live.

That wasn't very successful,

but I think times may have changed, so I'm going to have another go.

This isn't a competition or anything:

it's just an invitation to anybody with access to basic editing software and a video camera.

And the thing that's changed the most is that now, nearly everybody who has a phone

also has a video camera: you have no excuse.

You see, my philosophy is that everything and everywhere is interesting.

You may think your home town is boring, but that's just because you're familiar with it.

There are 7 billion people on this planet for whom your home town is enticingly exotic.

That's one reason I have an address for you to send me your postcards — these postcards here.

If you're not aware of it, the address is in the closing titles and in the video description.

Now, I'm not asking for extensive travel documentaries

with voice-over commentaries and tons of research.

If you have the time, skills and resources to do that, then by all means go ahead.

But if not, keep it simple: simple is good.

An example of the kind of thing anyone can do is a video I made nearly 12 years ago,

and I'll put a link to it in the description.

It's shaky, it's blurry,

and to be frank it's about twice as long as it really needs to be.

But bear in mind that until four months before I made that video,

I had never touched a video camera in my life.

Also, technology has come a long way since then.

But whether you live in the countryside or a big city, it doesn't matter:

you can make a video about it.

And I'd love to see it, even if it's a place that I've already made a video about,

because there's always something I missed or didn't have time for.

As I said, this isn't a competition.

But most of you watching this video now have a video camera and, I assume, a YouTube account.

So, why not use them?

You don't need anything more than some simple editing software, a few basic skills,

and some imagination.

You don't have to copy me and make documentaries,

but if you feel up to it, you can.

You don't have to copy people like Peter McKinnon and make glossy music videos,

but if you feel up to it, you can.

You don't need a drone, you don't need expensive equipment or software,

you don't need professional editing skills, you don't need a sponsor.

So here's what I'm going to do:

over the next few months, and particularly for those of you who've never made a video before,

in amongst all my usual videos I'll be giving a few tips

and some insight into my own videomaking process.

These won't be great, long, extensive tutorials,

just a few pointers and technical tips.

Above all, this is an invitation.

Show us where you live,

whether it's beautiful or ugly, wealthy or squalid, it doesn't matter, just start filming;

and always remember: no matter how many times you've seen it,

there are seven billion of us who never have.

Thanks for watching. If you'd like to send me a postcard, here's the address.

And don't forget to visit my website and follow me on Twitter and Facebook.

Also, if you'd like access to special bonus content

and help with the costs of running this channel,

please consider making a small monthly donation on Patreon.

Are we getting an authentic MEXICAN experience as VEGANS? - Duration: 5:00.

Mexico

Gab is getting a taco, he couldn't resist.

Especially because they're just 5 pesos (0.25USD), the first time since we've been in Mexico!

Yeah exactly!

And?

Is it good?

It's delicious!

Check this out.

I've noticed that in Mexico they do a little mixture of jalapeno peppers with onion and pineapple.

It's an amazing little trio.

And what's inside?

Just some black beans.

Completely vegan.

Completely vegan, baby!

5 pesos, man!

This place is called...

What is it?

Ricos Tacos de Canasta Carlos

Carlos' tacos.

This is the temple...

It's the main cathedral in town.

I think so, eh?

Yep.

And this looks like the central park.

With that dome over there, which there always usually is!

Sometimes there are bands singing there...

Yes...

Little lady selling knick-knacks...

It's pretty much Typical Mexico.

In every Mexican city, you'll find its name in big colourful letters.

Like here, it says "San Luis Potosi".

And you will always see lots of people taking pictures!

It's the spot!

Also Typical Mexico: man waxing shoes.

We went back to to the lady making tacos with black beans...

She has a delicious mixture of pineapple, onion and jalapenos I think...

Or it might just be green chili.

And I added some of the green sauce and the red sauce.

So, bon appétit!

Not even 3 bucks to eat 10 tacos!

Mental!

I can't wait to eat, I'm so hungry!

Taco Break

By the way, it was delectable!

We ate 5 each, well Gab ate that other one earlier...

But yeah, wow...

My mouth is a little bit on fire.

It's these types of experiences that bring joy into my life.

Just like, buying tacos from this person, super cheap... delicious!

So good.

So good, eh?

The other day, we met some Americans.

One of them asked us how come we were still vegan after all this time.

Yeah he said "Don't you think you're missing out on the Mexican experience?"

I think Maya agrees that we simply don't understand what he meant.

Look, we're in the street right now.

We just ate tacos with black beans.

Don't tell me we didn't have an authentic Mexican experience!

No no, everything is so good here!

What's really good in Mexico is not the meat. It's what they put on it.

So if you think you're going to miss out, well, not at all!

In Mexico, it's all about habaneros, hot sauces...

All of that!

Actually, just imagine a taco, or anything else, like an enchilada, with ONLY meat and cheese.

NOTHING ELSE, no sauce, no spices, no vegetables, nothing.

Well I'm sorry but that's not Mexican.

What's Mexican is the peppers, the onions, the sauce, the beans...

I think it's the tortillas, you know, all those foods!

So, I'm sorry, but I firmly believe we're getting an authentic Mexican experience, huh?

Yeah!

Guava-flavoured snowcones!

Lemon or Guava (4x) Snowcones!

Another story - Duration: 4:01.

Hey there.

Today I want to make a speech... or better, more than one.

Let's talk about Gucci Ghooper.

You will remember for sure that this character is born following

the trend of Gucci Gang for one of my hairstyles videos.

So, at the start, he was a funny role to play

even though it became something more... deep.

For these reasons a video that would have been just a

parody became a more complex project.

It was made to have fun but it ended up

with a collab with a dear friend that I want to thank for all the help.

Okay... for all the song.

Okay, now you're asking what are the reasons behind all of this...

Ghooper wanna be a singer?

No.

I have a video that can explain much better my thoughts about it.

So... I just like to make videos.

Speaking of videos: what is a video?

Let's try to think together.

If you search Ghooper on YouTube you will find... It's-a Me, Ghooper!

But how's it gone so far?

I will save you from the history lesson

and I will answer you directly.

It all started from an idea that, of course, transformed and evolved during the ages.

Probably, men were tired of static images

and that brought into their mind the seed to start thinking and

create something that could allowed... the movement.

And how is it possible?

Magic.

For me cinema is magic and that's why I started to study it.

Moonymona bought me a beautiful book about cinematography and

I love it also for the stories that it contains.

Yes because in this book I found a request for a contest from Giuseppe

but I think that he never send it so I'm sorry for you Giuseppe but you're late... too late.

This request is from 1966.

Three times my age, wow!

Books, films, postcards are treasures that we often take for granted so

don't waste the occasion to buy an old book, see an old film because they can tell us stories better then I can do.

Anyway... how can the rappers talk with that s**t in their mouth?

ILS RÉALISENT L'ANTHEM DU QLIMAX 2018 ! - Duration: 5:27.

Hey everybody ! It's a pleasure to talk to you today !

and today, the situation is critical !

Noooooo ! In fact everuthing is ok ! I'm happy

Seriously ! If you really love Hard music

you might know that on November 24th

will occur one of the biggest Hard music indoor event

Logic ! I've named : Qlimax !!

It's a Q-Dance event

It takes place at Gelredome in Holland !

It's a football stadium that can received more than 35 000 people !

Think about how many people It is !

And of course, the grass of the football field is removed

so that we can dance in the middle of it !

By the way I asked me a question. Did they put a floor on the grass ?

Or did they remove the grass and the floor is behind ?

If you know the answer, tell me that in comment !

Qlimax takes place for the first time in 2000 !

Yep ! Qlimax is already 18 !

I didn't thought that the festival was so old !

It evolved a lot since this hun ?

Litlle exclusissssss info

Exclusissss ! Exclusisssss

Little exclusive info !

Did you that Qlimax took place in 2006 and 2007

at the Ethias Arena in Belgium ?

Personally I didn't knew it before writing this video !

so I found important to tell you that !

And by the way I don't understand why they don't do it there again ....

It would let me travel less to go to Qlimax !

So as I told you, Qlimax is one of the biggest indoor Hard music event !

And each year they make a stage design more and more impressive !

Take a look at the last stages design !

Talking about the DJs ?

The line up is always composed of the best Hardstyle DJs !

And this year, it's the turn of B-Freqz

or B-Freaqz !? No idea of the spelling

The partnership between B-Front and Frequencerz

Bass Modulator !

Tweekacore !

Sub Zero Project !

and more more more more !

Go check the line up on the Q-Dance website !

And the anthem of the event

we didn't know yet who's gonna realize it

even if I've got a little idea about it !

Q-Dance recently uploaded a teaser about his Wow Wow event

which is the end of the year event of Q-Dance

Why Wow Wow ? Because this is the sound that we can hear at the end of each festival

or at the end of all videos that Q-Dance upload !

So, this year, Q-Dance will end the year with Wow Wow !

This is the event that will replace the Freaqshow

an event that took place for the new year before

By the way, I made a Vlog out there !

If you want to see it, just click right here !

So let's talk again about the anthem maker of this year's Qlimax !

Q-Dance uploaded a teaser video for Wow Wow

and we can see that when they announce Sub Zero Project

in the video, we can see a little TV on the side of the name

with the Qlimax teaser

If this is not a clue, I don't know what it is !

I show you both images right now !

So as you can see in one side there's the Wow Wow teaser

where we can see Sub Zero Project with the Qlimax teaser on the TV !

and on the other side, the image from the Qlimax teaser !

We can't make something more obvious !

So ! According to you , hasard or not ?

I let you all discuss of it in the comments !

But I really think that we're on a good path !

Knowing that Q-Dance love to put little clues to let us find who will realize the anthem

or to let us find who will be on the line up of one of them event

Not bad as communication !

I really hope that when this video will be uploaded

the anthem maker will not be revealed

Otherwise I would be like a dumb ... more then usual !

Qlimax's anthems often becomes huge hits !

Last year, the anthem was composed by Wildstylez " Temple Of Light "

Listen to it !

I really want Sub Zero Project to realize the anthem !

So that we can see a little bit of this new generation !

And I think that we must let them have their chance !

So, If I do a video about Qlimax, it's because I'll be there on November 24th !

And if I'm there, there is a big probability that I'll organize a meet up !

Buuuuuuuuuut

And I'll have with me some bracelets

By the way, you might have seen on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter

that I received white bracelets and I'll probably have with me

some T-shirt like that one that I'm wearing right here !

And I've got a last little thing to announce to you !

For those that will be in the 1st bus with Festimove

I think that we'll have a lot of fun during our trip to Qlimax !

But I don't tell you anything esle !

I hope that you enjoyed the video !

Drop a HUGE blue thumb down the video !

I can't wait to be at Qlimax !

Do not hesitate to tell me in comments who will realize the Qlimax anthem for you !

Share this video with all your friends

And of course, see you next week for an other video !!

Don't hesitate to click on my beautiful face right here

to subscribe and see all the videos

And click on the square right here

to see my last video !

See you next week guys !

Story of LA CATRINA || DAY OF THE DEAD Acrylic Painting Tutorial || Sugar Skull Girl - Duration: 6:36.

Hi everyone!

Today I'm painting another La Catrina or sugar skull girl in acrylics and telling you about

the origin of La Calavera Catrina and then about my painting process.

So, I made the first sugar skull girl painting two years ago and by the way, the printable

coloring page of that painting and an ethnic girl coloring calendar are available in my

Etsy shop.

There's a link on the video or below.

I was inspired by Halloween and Day of the Dead makeup tutorials, but also looked up

what's the history of sugar skulls and la calavera catrina.

When I was younger, Halloween was not popular in Finland and I never even knew about Day

of the Dead.

Instead we had the All Saint's Day, when you remember passed away relatives and go light

candles on their graves.

Day of the dead has similarities to this tradition.

It's also about remembering passed away loved ones and visiting their graves, but it's also

a very colorful and even a happy celebration.

The graves are decorated with flowers, jewelry or candy, there's music and stories.

In some places it also includes similar costume dress up aspects as Halloween.

The symbol of Day of the dead is a skull and one of the treats made for the day of the

dead is sugar skulls.

Well, how is la calavera catrina related to this?

I watched a Día de los Muertos video by Somni ASMR from a couple of years back, which explained

this and I'll link it below so you can check it out if you want to know more about Day

of the dead.

But basically, la calavera catrina or La Calavera Garbancera was an illustration created by

an artist called José Guadalupe Posada in 1910 - 1913 as a satire of indigenous upper

class Mexican people who imitated a European style, made their skin look lighter with makeup

and basically denied their own cultural heritage.

The name for a man who would dress this way was el catrin, and la catrina is the female

version of that name.

And now la catrina has become an icon for the day of the dead and people might dress

up as el catrin or la catrina for day of the dead or for halloween.

One of the inspirations for my catrina sketches were the Catrina figurines made by Helena

Nares, which I absolutely love.

I recommend checking out her Instagram @el_catrinero to see the figurines.

Now moving onto how I made this painting.

For my last sugar skull girl painting I used a very simple and symmetric pose and let the

bright colors and contrasts be the focal point.

For this painting, I wanted to make the pose a bit more interesting and an overall bigger

painting.

I found the reference photo from StoryBlocks (previously called GraphicStock) and I got

it from a free 7 day trial they offered.

I used the grid method to get the proportions about right while I was sketching.

I'll link to a video on how I make a grid on a photo and use the grid drawing method.

I drew the patterns on her face by combining different things I liked from Halloween makeup

looks and paintings.

I transferred the sketch onto a canvas board with graphite transfer paper and painted over

the transfer with matte medium to prevent the drawing from smudging my acrylic paints.

The last painting had warm and bright colors, which I think suits day of the dead and mexican

culture well, but I wanted to try a different color scheme for this painting.

I made the background black to contrast with the bright colors and the white skeleton.

I got the pink, lilac and cream color scheme for the flowers from the actual photo reference

I was using and used that for the face decorations, too.

I knew her hair was going to be dark, so I had to add something lighter in the background

next to her hair so the hair wouldn't blend into black background.

And I decided to use monstera leaves for that.

I started painting by blocking in the main colors and then adding more layers for shading

and highlights and details.

I made the skin or skeleton, which ever way you want to see it, light blue and I tied

the picture together by shading with blue throughout the painting.

However, once the painting was finished, I hoped the skeleton was more white than blue

and I added more white on top, but it was too late make any drastic changes without

having to paint the face decorations again.

I don't usually paint eyes closed and it took a while to make them look ok.

I decided to show the spine in the neck, but I was making this painting in a kind of a

hurry and couldn't make it overly detailed so the hands are not skeleton hands, but just

hands with white skin.

Finally, I've been waiting for a painting where I could add rhinestones ever since I

saw Malinda Prudhomme's Indian portraits where she adds rhinestones on the art.

So, I did that with this painting.

I glued on sequins and rhinestones on the forehead with jewelry glue.

All the paints and supplies I used will be listed below, if you're interested.

Prints and stickers and postcards and other merch of this painting will be up on my redbubble

shop, if you want to check it out.

I post a new video every week and it's usually a speed painting like this or an art tutorial

or a real time ASMR art video.

So, thanks for watching and Happy Halloween and Day of the Dead and All Saints' day!

See you next week!

Bye!
