Getting A Movie Made - 3 Key Factors by Scott Kirkpatrick - Duration: 6:16.

Film Courage: You wrote a blog post (I think) a few years back maybe that mentioned Tim

Burton's 1994 biopic on Ed Wood…excellent film by the way.

Scott Kirkpatrick: One of my favorites.

Film Courage: Yeah…would you say this film is really important because it shows still

current examples of how films get made today.

Any thoughts…[films getting made] on a lower level?

Scott Kirkpatrick: You know, in truth those budgets back then were massive today, like

the kind of films that were getting made or the Roger Corman-era of making films.

One of the opening scenes of that movie (ED WOOD), The Christine Jorgensen Story (that's

what is was), it was basically an individual back in the 50's and some schlock producer

was making a film about it.

So Ed Wood sees the opportunity, walked into the door, set up a meeting with Mr. Weiss

and pitched himself as the guy who had to make the movie.

And because he was so enthusiastic because in truth he was a human being but was very

secretive about certain aspects of his life and he just understood the compelling elements

of the story that had to be created, blah, blah, blah, blah.

And then, the producer's response was more or less "I don't care.

I need a producer.

I need a guy who can make a film in three days and make me a profit.

That's all I care about."

And the reason was, he'd already pre-sold theaters and all of these states and needed

the movie to cater to that.

He needed a movie that was so many reels long (using old film terminology), that was a certain

budget level, that could be shot in a certain amount of time and didn't care about the

quality.

He just needed the product to fill-in the gaps of where it was pre-sold.

It still happens today.

It's no different.

It's the same concept in the indie space today of the movies that get kind of pre-sold,

pre-created, pre-developed and then they need writers, producers, very creative-minded people

to put that that together in a short period of time and make it happen.

That's the real job of a creator is creating, making things happen.

Getting from Point A to Point B quickly and effectively, that's why at the studio level,

major talents get tons of money and they receive ridiculous sums of money for screenplays at

the studio level because frankly it takes a lot of work and it's a very, very rare

talent to be able to produce on that level.

So that's kind of why it works that way.

But if you haven't seen it…for anyone in the audience who hasn't seen it [ED WOOD]

it's a great movie, very fun and in the whole process throughout you actually learn

a lot of great lessons about the filmmaking process.

And even though it's from the 90's and talking about an era in the 50's, the principles

are exactly the same.

It still works the same way and always will (I think).

Film Courage: What about the Bela Lugosi character?

Scott Kirkpatrick: Same concept.

It's an aging star, who frankly, was kind of washed up at the time.

But it's the same idea of…I think even in the opening scene that I'm talking about

that was one of the things that he later went back into the office to secure the job because

he'd written a script in two days and he had Bela Lugosi who was a star.

So he basically said "If you need a schmuck who can get you a movie in three days with

a star.

Make me anything…"

I forget how he described it…"Anything with a with a star, no matter if it's good!"

That's how he described it.

And that's basically Bela Lugosi was the star who was at least a decent enough name

that people recognized that elevated the product just enough so it became a Bela Lugosi movie

that was being distributed at that point.

Film Courage: And last but not least, his efforts to secure financing.

So meeting the right person and having to go to certain lengths to secure financing?

Scott Kirkpatrick: So I think there's a massive misconception.

When it comes to financing (as I kind of said) movies are incredibly expensive to produce

and people on the writing end, the directing and producing end who want to get their work

made seem to be very, very good at writing and keeping a budget in mind and they're

really good at creating budgets and all the great software that exists now but getting

to that point of how is it going to be funded, that's sort of the complicated thing.

In ED WOOD and I think the hopeful thing that a lot of younger filmmakers hope is that they

can go to a rich uncle or dentist and all of this other stuff and just pool money together.

Wherever money comes from and you can still get movies off of the ground using that approach,

at a higher level, if you're creating content that's going to work for platforms out there,

there are a lot of entities that will actually invest the money and get that, so it's kind

of…I don't know…I feel like I'm getting a little lost in it…it's not as cut and

dry.

It's always a mystery as to where and how funding comes together at the indie level

because there is no one way to do it.

But the truth is, if you are creating content that actually has placement, that actually

already has a spot to fill, it actually already has room on a shelf to be placed, there are

a lot of entities who are willing to invest the money into it.

I think the real answer is if you are going out there to produce something that you want

to produce because you're passionate about it and you've not done any real market research

or talked to companies about what the market wants, you're going to have a really tough

time getting financing.

If you take a step back you focus on what the market needs, what it's asking for,

what companies are searching for and then you cater to those needs, financing actually

gets a lot easier because all of the sudden there's a lot of companies with deep pockets

and they are looking to invest the money.

They are just looking to invest it with stuff that is going to help their goals.

How Lightsabers Work (Legends) - Star Wars Explained - Duration: 3:35.

Hey everybody and welcome to Leia's Lair.

In this episode I will be going over how exactly a lightsaber works in Legends.

If you are enjoying the videos, please give them a like and subscribe to the channel so

I can continue making them for you!

To begin, the hilt of a standard lightsaber was typically between 24 - 30 cm long, but

this could be changed depending on the stature and preference of the wielder.

All the mechanics of lightsaber were contained in the hilt.

At the bottom of the hilt, there was a pommel cap that could be used to house a backup power source.

Within the hilt, high levels of energy were generated by a Diatium power cell.

Diatium was used for a variety of reasons.

The first was because it was a fairly common mineral that was easy to mine.

On top of that, when used as a power cell, it was able to store huge amounts of energy.

After being generated by the Diatium power cell, the high levels of energy were converted

to plasma after moving through a group of focusing lenses and energizers.

When the blade was not in contact with another object, the plasma would be recycled per say

by an energy field back into the power cell.

This is why lightsabers rarely needed to be recharged.

If the wielder wanted to increase the power of the lightsaber, they could either modify

the diatium cell (which was extremely dangerous) or they could install a discharge energy cell

into the hilt of the saber.

Also positioned in the hilt, around the power cell, was a power insulator.

It was typically made out of nonconductive material, and protected the wielder from electrocution

that could be generated from the hilt.

After being converted, the plasma would move through the lightsaber crystals where it would

become focused.

The number of crystals used varied.

Only one was needed for the saber to work, however having three was the most ideal.

The crystals were responsible for the individual properties of the blade such as the color,

and allowed for an adjustment of its length, as well as its power output.

After being focused by the crystals, the plasma would move through the emitter matrix that

contained the beam through a magnetic grip.

An interesting fact about the emitter matrix is that if it were inverted, the ignition

of the saber would cause it explode.

But anyways, back to the mechanics.

Within this emitter matrix existed a group of field energizers and modulation circuitry

that focused the plasma further.

At this point the plasma would actually be a substantial blade that was emitted from

the blade emitter.

The blade typically reached about a meter in length and was activated by a button.

Certain lightsabers contained knobs that allowed for an adjustment of the blade length.

The length of the blade was restricted by the blade containment field back to a negatively

charged fissure ringing the emitter.

Here it was sent back to the power cell by a superconductor.

At this point, the circuit was complete.

Interesting to note is that this containment field is what is responsible for the awesome

lightsaber battles we see.

It allows the blades of lightsabers to come into contact with one another, instead of

just passing through.

And there you have it!

Thanks for watching everyone!

Energy Update – Clearing And Feeling Old Debris Of Our New Path - Duration: 6:20.

Energy Update Clearing And Feeling Old Debris Of Our New Path

by Anastacia-Blue Beyond,

A total old loop HAS come UP, its so big!

I cant explain what the last 18hrs were as this is new and there was not a lot of

sense as to what we were processing and experiencing.

It was so unusual and like nothing I have ever experienced with this and I know what

this is for myself and will do my best to share what this is personally

And Old loop of our TOTALITY and the energy with was highly buzzing until 3am AEST.

(That is why I got the tap to go).

This story below, is the best way I can explain what has just occurred:

Its like walking down a path and on this path are lots of debris

Now the path is leading or heading towards a goal or something we have been working

towards and sometimes this could be for years and years.

As in, feeling this so deeply as part of our Souls Purpose.

What this is for each person is personal.

WIth my path or road, it is one that I have already walked!

And in reaching a place of, turning around, and going back down or up that path I

am needing to clear the debris of left over remnants, of larger boulders that I pushed

through on the first journey!

(More shared on this further on, just go with me here).

And so now walking back up that path, to finally, a newer destination of a beginning of something

I felt so deeply within I needed to do there are left over small rocks or

debris of the original huge boulders that I broke through on my way the 1st time.

Read that again There are left over small rocks or debris, of the original huge boulders

that I broke through on my way -the 1st time.

So in going back yet forward to a new destination, I want and need to

make sure, that the debris is removed, one by one, to clear MY OWN PATH FOR MYSELF BACK,

MORE LIKE FORWARD to what resonated so deeply in my soul that I needed to do in someway

or manner with something in my life!

That is very huge for myself.

A huge area in my life that is linked to abundance.

This could be abundance of ANYTHING!

Or Everything as well ;-).

So you see, the last 18hrs specifically, this energetically came through, slowly building

up and building up, buzzing and churning up, the debris on our old path, which we are now

clearing for a New Path.

It is like we reached a point or crescendo as in, our ascension and

pushing Beyond energetically in Spirit and now, we finally have made it energetically

collectively, that we can NOW HEAL OUR PAST TOTALITY PATH OR LOOP.

So then we can now, heal and tend to clearing the debris off our path in what we have been

waiting for, for so long!!

And due to this what many are feeling is like to them, unexplainable feelings

and emotions and total overwhelmof like energy actually spilling over, as this

has been THAT BIG.

As the/our energy needed to spill over, as we have been Beyond pushed to our limits

of endurance!

WE HAVE MADE IT!

I have been writing THIS IS SO WORTH IT, as I personally KNOW/FEEL and have experienced

this is!

We/you just need to realize this!

And with this and the story I shared above, is to realize the bigger bigger picture of

what we are re-feeling of the debris on our New Path.

As when we feel and accept this, then we can allow the pressure to be taken off within

in all else we are feeling and experiencing.

This then allows a shift of energy, even if just slightly, to allow the debris to start

to be cleared or shifted off the/our path.

No one else can clear this for us and we are unable to clear anyone elses debris!

Yet to shift the debris off the path, one needs to realize, feel and SEE that there

is a New Paththat the debris on the path, of the old, from the old boulders that we

have ALREADY BROKEN AND PUSHED THROUGH.

That we are feeling each ONE BY ONE or FACET by FACET, to be cleared as we walk the

new.

IN FAITH AND TRUST.IN HANDING OVER AND LETTING GO!

Total True Surrender of taking a step over the ledge and knowing your wings will come

out and you will fly over!

As you lovingly support yourself, this allows the Divine to lovingly support you FURTHER

as well!

Yet, the Divine is not able to assist further unless one takes that absolute leap of

faith and trust.

And lets go of the head and thinking and control and so on.

All which I too needed to do as I endured so much (like you) as well in life and control

was my way of coping that was survival in the past.

Add to then time served in the military as well, so this was then more regimented as

well.

I of my own self can do nothing, remember to let the DIVINE guide you.

Pray and ask and feel so deeply, Help me to help myself from within, from your heart

and soul.

As when one truly does this, and feels this, it shifts and hands this over and the

anxiety or stress, shifts and eases.

That is how we know we have truly surrendered.

This needs to come from within each soul.

That is unique for themselves and how they process and feel or think and an so on.

May this sharing of my story, allow you to find the seeds of the Divine within this,

for yourself.

As always I am right here with you.

As all I share and bring through is as a template for humanity in linking our Spirit to our

Soul through our emotions from personal experience.

Much Unconditional Love, Truth and Honesty

Creating the Jungle Book Poster at Mt. Hood Community College - Duration: 1:24.

My name's Dale Gronso. I'm the program coordinator for Graphic Design.

Graphic designers, because they have such a wide skill set, follow their passions a lot, because

they're able to try a lot of different things out. In developing posters

for the Theatre department, it was (up to) them to explore and develop their illustration skills,

but a major component of it was more of them understanding concepting, and understanding

how do you take something as large as an entire play - and the story and the characters behind that -

and turn it into single image.

He wants practical experiences for his students, and something like this where we're actually putting these

posters up and we need to get audience in for the theatre, is about as practical as you can get.

Though the poster that we picked was this one because it just had such a unique visual design.

People were just walking down the street, catch their eye, and they want to know what that was.

I'm really pleased with how the projects turned out. I know that Mace actually had a chance to

not just pick the 'one' that would work, but actually have some choice.

And it was nice to see that the students provided some of that choice.

To see the growth of how those projects' changed and modified was a nice development to see as well.

Sketching Singapore - Painting the The Merlion - Duration: 1:39.

Hi! Welcome to another episode of Sketching Singapore.

What is 8.6m high and weighs 70 tons?

Ta-dah! There we go.

Actually, that's not the one that I'm going to paint.

That one!

So who sculpted this piece of art? Stay tuned and find out.

This is definitely symbol of Singapore - the upper part is a lion which represents the

lion city that was founded by the Javanese prince Sang Nila Utama

which doesn't really make sense because there are no lines in Singapore except for the Mandai Zoo.

And the fish part forms the lower part of the body.

Since you guys stayed until this far the answer is

The Merlion was designed by artist and educator Mr. Kwan Sai Keong and

carved by craftsman or sculptor Lim Nan Seng.

The Merlion was originally sited at the mouth of the Singapore River in 1972 when it was first built

but in 2002 after the construction of Esplanade bridge,

the Merlion lion was moved to its current position at the Merlion Park.

The only issue I found with this was keeping the Merlion white.

The shadows kept getting darker and darker and darker but I had to keep on

reminding myself to keep it white.

Very subtle but I think I'm almost there.

Yeah... time for lunch.
