N. Korea's request for dialogue with UN rejected due to U.S. opposition - Duration: 1:50.Reports say the North Korean regime, which has been isolated from the international community
for so long,... actually reached out for a dialogue with the UN two months ago... possibly
object to the international sanctions against it.
But dialogue was in the end rejected... due to U.S. opposition.
Oh Jung-hee reports.
North Korea asked the UN chief to open up dialogue between Pyongyang and the UN two
months ago... according to Tokyo-based Kyodo News Agency on Friday.
Quoting various diplomatic sources familiar with the UN,... the agency reported...
North Korea's foreign minister Ri Yong-ho asked for a dialogue channel with the UN Secretariat
in late September,... when he had a closed-door meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio
Guterres.
It's known... that the Secretary-General avoided giving a direct answer to this request,...
but expressed concern over the tensions on the Korean peninsula.
He also called on the regime to abide by UN resolutions and stop nuclear and missile development.
Later, Jeffrey Feltman, the UN's Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, discussed this matter
with a high-level U.S. official.
And due to U.S. opposition,... a dialogue between North Korea and the UN couldn't be
achieved.
Kyodo reported... that there could have been diverging views among the permanent members
of the UN Security Council... as China and Russia were FOR this dialogue.
It's been speculated... that the North wanted an international conversation to claim that
the sanctions against Pyongyang are unreasonable.
North Korea's representatives to the UN are continuously demanding for a global forum
that involves law experts... to verify the legality of the UN's sanctions resolutions.

S. Korea designates Aug. 14 to commemorate victims of Japan's sexual slavery - Duration: 0:43.The National Assembly has designated a new annual observance to commemorate the victims
of Japan's wartime sexual slavery during World War Two.
It passed a bill Friday designating August 14th as the day to remember the sufferings
of the so-called "comfort women," hundreds of thousands of whom were sexually enslaved
by the Japanese military.
The new law provides for a range of events to be held on the 14th of August... to educate
people about the issue.
It also states that any policies that affect the rights of the victims shall be decided
only upon active consultation with the victims, few of whom, sadly, are still living.
Also, the main clauses of any such policies have to be transparently revealed to the public.

Preview RCD Espanyol vs Getafe CF - Duration: 1:13.RCD Espanyol are at home again after their defeat to Valencia at the RCDE Stadium.
They play Getafe without the presence of the injured Leo Baptistao.
Despite their most recent defeat, the Budgies are comfortable at home, where they have taken all three
of their wins so far this season.
Getafe have the wind in their sales after a comprehensive win against Alaves at the Coliseum.
"It's the best thing about football. On Monday we have another chance to get up to 16 points and latch onto
the positions I think we deserve. It won't be easy, because Getafe are having good games;
it's maybe not the prettiest, but it's effective."
This effectiveness from Pepe Bordalas' side has a lot to do with Angel's goalscoring instincts:
He got a brace against Alaves and is now up to six for the season.

Preview Villarreal CF vs Sevilla FC - Duration: 2:04.After European exploits in midweek, Villarreal and Sevilla pick up from where they left off in LaLiga.
A meeting between two sides in fifth and sixth, respectively, and separated by just a point,
takes place this weekend.
On Matchday 12, Sevilla benefitted from Villarreal's draw against Athletic to overtake them in the table.
But coach Javi Calleja has a perfect record at the Estadio de la Ceramica since taking over,
without his side conceding a single goal at home under his guidance.
"It's a huge game. They are just above us, and we're fighting with them for our objective.
Above all, with the game being at home, we have to take the three points."
Toto Berizzo's side won last weekend against Celta at the Sanchez-Pizjuan and followed that up with an
amazing comeback against Liverpool, and now they want to end their away slump in LaLiga:
They have suffered three defeats in their last three away games.
"Villarreal are just behind us. They are having a good season, playing very good games and
have great players, but I think that we have a very good team and a grat mentality.
Although it will be a difficult game, I think we can do it."
Sevilla will want a victory to dedicate to Berizzo, who this week announced that he has been diagnosed
with prostate cancer.
European ambitions come to a head in Castellon. Villarreal and Sevilla will battle this weekend,
eyeing up a place in the Champions League spots.

Essential transport bridge between China and North Korea temporarily closed - Duration: 0:45.An essential transport bridge between China and North Korea has been temporarily shut
down by Beijing.
The official reason for the closure is maintenance repairs... but Japanese daily Yomiuri Shimbun
reports, citing a source in the Chinese government, that Beijing may be sending a warning to Pyongyang.
The source claims that the shut down lets North Korea know... that there's more China
could do if need be to pressure the regime.
The 'China-Korea Friendship Bridge' connects the Chinese city of Dandong with North Korea's
Sinuiju , and as much as 70-percent of the trade between the two nations passes through
this route.
The latest Chinese customs figuges on Thursday showed trade with the North fell 20-percent
on-month in October, the first full month since the UN sanctions kicked in.

終点 / Terminus【歌ってみた@たちばな】 - Duration: 3:27."Terminus"
If it is better for me to not know anything, then don't tell me anything
The truth of the lie Sleepwalking
The hidden side of that innocent child's long sleeves
Today again he sticks one foot out from the 12th floor of the building
He's pale, depressed, even so he does not have the courage to die
I am a human being, but if I have to live following orders of another human being,
I can still dream, but if this world won't allow me to dream,
maybe I should just squat down and hide until the summer grass withers
When I said it and laughed
next was already the last stop
If it is better for me to not know anything, then don't tell me anything
Delusions, fear of death, screaming at night The best medicine is lethargy or PTSD
At some point, I got more used to being laughed at than to laugh myself
I avoid picking up feelings, love, and sadness thinking it is better than to lose them afterward
God who fills his belly by eating my fear of death
Fraud and conman, I already knew it since long before
Nostalgic shades that are far darker than many layers of paint and
endless darkness
were the answer, They were the answer
I let go of everything
and fall into a deep slumber
If it is better for me to not know anything, then don't tell me anything
The truth of the lie Sleepwalking
The hidden side of that innocent child's long sleeves
He has long bangs because he doesn't want to see anything
His hair is bleached until it melts because he doesn't want to get colored
Hating each other,
hitting each other,
envying each other,
poorly matching each other,
looking for each other,
comforting each other,
mourning each other,
understanding each other.
This poetry and this sound,
affirmation, negation, and regret,
and the brilliant colors of each season,
it does not remain anywhere
The darkness
were the answer They were the answer
The darkness that sucks us in was our future
I'm praying, it's enough now Nothing could save me
I am falling into a deep slumber

Match of the Weekend: Valencia CF vs FC Barcelona - Duration: 4:45.Valencia against Barcelona is currently the biggest game going in Spanish football.
Whilst other top teams are floundering, these two sides have been enjoying their best ever starts to a season.
It's a throwback to Valencia-Barça matches of years gone by, as Los Che are finally able to treat their visitors
as rivals.
It's the return of the evenly matched Mediterranean derby.
The LaLiga leaders and the side in second place collide at Mestalla, and something has to give.
Valencia want to show that their title challenge is for real, as they take on a Barça side trying to further extend
their early advantage at the top of the First Division.
Valencia coach Marcelino will have to watch on from the stands as he serves a suspension.
His arrival has seen the club take 8 consecutive wins. The most recent was a 0-2 triumph against Espanyol.
"We believe in our work and we are doing a good job. Numbers are just numbers in the end,
and we keep winning and adding points. The important thing is to work well, be happy and believe in
what we are doing."
In front of them will be a Barça side also in fantastic shape. They have 11 wins and one draw
from their opening 12 games.
Last week at Butarque, striker Luis Suarez provided another positive as he ended his scoring drought.
The negative was the yellow card picked up by Gerard Pique, which means he is suspended for Matchday 13.
Combined with Javier Mascherano's absence through injury, it means that Samuel Umtiti will have a new
partner in the centre of the defence.
Thomas Vermaelen could get his first LaLiga appearance of the year to fill the role, although
Lucas Digne or even Sergio Busquets could also cover.
"Obviously Gerard is a big loss, because he's performing at a very high level,
but there will be others who will try to replace him in the best possible way."
The main absentee for Valencia will be Jeison Murillo, although there are still doubts about
Simone Zaza's fitness. Ezequiel Garay should come in to replace the Colombian in a starting eleven that
is almost guaranteed to feature Geoffrey Kondogbia.
"We know that they are a great team and that it's going to be a difficult game –like every game, because you
have to fight to the end. That's even more true against Barça."
There is plenty to watch out for in this one. Leo Messi's brilliance, the exceptional form of Valencia's strikers,
Paco Alcacer's return home and the battle of the two best goalkeepers in LaLiga at the moment are just
some of the points of interest in a mouthwatering fixture.
Valencia will try to end a drought of more than 10 years without a win against Barcelona at home.
A 2-1 victory in the 2006/07 season is the most recent precedent, with Angulo, David Silva and Ronaldinho
on the scoresheet. The Catalans have 5 wins and 5 draws at Mestalla since then.
Last year saw a spectacular triumph for the visiting side, as they came back to win 2-3 and Leo Messi
provided an emotional celebration.
Valencia-Barça games are always special, but this time there is an air of equality about the fixture.
The title chase is on, and it is up to Barça to avoid the gap to their closest rival reducing by the end
of the weekend.
It's set to be a thriller at Mestalla in LaLiga Santander.

Consumer sentiment rose to highest level in nearly 7 years - Duration: 2:19.Korea's consumer sentiment index,... a key indicator of future consumption,... has risen
to its highest level in almost seven years.
November's index also shows... people are expecting the real estate market to cool down,...
and the Bank of Korea to raise interest rates.
Our Kim Ji-yeon reports.
Consumer sentiment reached its highest level in more than six years and eleven months in
November,... as relations between South Korea and China improved... and geopolitical risks
stemming from North Korean threats waned.
Data by the Bank of Korea shows the composite consumer sentiment index has risen by more
than three-points from the previous month to 112-point-3.
The index jumped during the February to July period on high expectations after a newly
elected government,... but dropped for two consecutive months leading up to September
on rising North Korean provocations.
A reading above 100 means more people are optimistic than pessimistic about the economy.
The same data showed less people expect the strong upward trend in real estate prices
to continue,... mainly due to government measures unveiled earlier this year to curb housing
speculation.
It was the first time since July that consumer sentiment on real estate prices dropped,...
falling to 106... down four points from the previous month.
Expectations on rises in household income stayed the same as the previous month at 104...
while job prospects rose for the first time in five months.
Expectations of an interest rate hike reached their highest level since July 2011,... in
anticipation that the Bank of Korea will raise the main benchmark interest rate later this
month... from the current record-low of one-and-a-quarter-percent.
(Korean ) ""There was a dissenter who called for an
interest rate hike in last month's BOK monetary policy committee... and robust Q3 growth on
the back of surging exports... could provide support for such a move."
The expert added however that since a rate hike would put more burden on households in
repaying their debt... he projected that the BOK will be more cautious in raising the interest
rate next year.

KOSDAQ ends winning streak, but tops 800 pts for first time in 10 years - Duration: 0:38.Korea's secondary stock market, the tech-heavy KOSDAQ, has ended a weeks-long hot streak.
The KOSDAQ closed half-a-percent lower on Thursday at just under 7-hundred-and-93.
But... in the first 15 minutes of trading broke through the 800 mark... for the first
time in ten years.
Earlier this month the government announced it would give a tax break to companies listed
on the KOSDAQ to encourage investment, especially in small and medium-sized firms.
Korea's benchmark KOSPI, meanwhile, closed higher today by a quarter of a percent.
The Korean currency ended unchanged from the previous session at 10-85 to the U.S. dollar.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in visits quake-hit city of Pohang - Duration: 3:06.Nine days since the 5-point-4 magnitude earthquake in the nation's southeast, President Moon
Jae-in went down to check out the recovery scene himself.
Our chief Blue House correspondent Moon Connyoung has the details.
In skittish Pohang city, still reeling from last week's rare 5-point-4 magnitude earthquake,
President Moon Jae-in looks to speed up the recovery underway and console the hearts rattled
by the quake.
(Korean) "I can just imagine how shocked you must have
been."
.
(Korean) "We are just thankful that we are still alive.
We are thankful for that but now we just don't know how to make ends meet as our lives have
been destroyed."
Visiting the tremor-hit region for the first time since the initial quake nine days ago,
Mr. Moon lent an ear to the authorities in charge for a thorough briefing of the current
situation.
And, also to those who were forced out of their homes seeking refuge at makeshift shelters.
(Korean) "We hope there is a place for us to return
when we leave the shelter.
Another thing is that none of us here were affluent to begin with.
We ask for government support at least until we get back to our homes."
The president offered consolation to local residents suffering not only from the initial
quake but the more than 60 aftershocks that have followed since November 15th.
(Korean) "We will speed up the process of tearing down
uninhabitable buildings and provide housing for residents there.
, When hit by such a huge disaster, property
damage is of great concern but we should also be mindful of psychological wounds.
The government will provide psychological therapy and counseling, as well."
But, the president's first stop upon arrival in the southeastern city was a local high
school to cheer up the seniors who were forced to take the exam of their lifetime under the
fear of possible aftershocks.
Instead, the South Korean leader got a whole lot of cheer himself.
President Moon explained that it was a very difficult decision to postpone the annual
college entrance exam following the earthquake in Pohang as it affects nearly 600-thousand
college applicants all across the nation.
He thanked the seniors in the quake-stricken city for braving through the exam, which was
taken a week after the initially scheduled date, as well as the hundreds of thousands
of test-takers in other parts of the country who bore with the inconvenience for the quake-affected
students.
(Korean) "I believe that in such big hearts of the
Korean people lives hope for the Republic of Korea.
. Being considerate and mindful of the minority;
I believe there lies the hope for a better future for this country."
, .

Preview Real Madrid vs Malaga CF - Duration: 1:55.Real Madrid's recent form has left them with an uphill struggle ahead if they want to repeat their title win
from last season. Held to a goalless draw at the Wanda Metropolitano,
the gap between Los Blancos and leaders Barça now stands at 10 points, and Zinedine Zidane's side
have to hope that their rivals hid a bad patch.
Meanwhile, they themselves need to put a run of victories together. Zidane is not giving up on LaLiga,
and this weekend could be an important one for his team: Madrid are visited by Malaga,
whilst Barça have the tough test of a trip to Valencia.
Despite still finding themselves in the relegation spots, Michel's Malaga showed last time out that they are
capable of overcoming adversity and that they want to stay in the top flight.
"Besides our position in the table, we've been suffering from a bit of anxiety. However, the team are showing that
you always have to get behind them, because they give everything.
We know that all of our away games are tremendously difficult, because of their position in LaLiga,
but points at the Santiago Bernabeu count the same as points anywhere else for us."
Malaga welcome back Recio from suspension, whilst Nacho's fifth yellow card last time out means he is
absent for Madrid. Sergio Ramos' participation in a key game for both sides is in doubt after his facial injury.
Whoever plays, it is sure to be a high-energy affair with a lot at stake.
