South Korea unveils unilateral sanctions on 18 North Korean individuals - Duration: 1:54.

Unilateral sanctions on 18 North Korean individuals by Seoul.

Listed targets include those suspected of funneling money into the regime's nuclear

and missile programs.

Kwon Jang-ho breaks down the first such measures under the Moon administration.

The Moon Jae-in administration has unveiled its first unilateral sanctions against North

Korea over the regime's nuclear and missile provocations.

A foreign ministry official said Monday that 18 individuals who represent North Korean

banks overseas have been blacklisted as they were involved in supplying money needed to

develop weapons of mass destruction.

The list includes the heads and executives of North Korean banks stationed in China,

Russia and Libya.

The sanctions will freeze the assets of the targeted individuals within South Korea's

jurisdiction and ban any of their transactions with South Korean banks.

However, the measures are being seen more as symbolic, rather than having any practical

effect.

All transactions between the two Koreas have already been cut since 2010, with the implementation

of the May 24 sanctions.

The banks involved are already on the UN sanctions blacklist.

And the individuals named were also on America's unilateral sanctions list announced in September.

(Korean) "For Seoul there are largely two aims with

these sanctions.

The first is to send a message that we do not accept North Korea developing and acquiring

nuclear weapons.

The second is to show solidarity with the U.S. by following their* unilateral sanctions...

with our own."

(Standup) "The timing of Seoul's announcement does suggest

a deliberate nod to Washington, coming just a day before President Trump arrives here

in South Korea.

Over the next two days, the Moon administration will be looking to court the U.S.'s cooperation

to continue pursuing a diplomatic solution on North Korea, rather than threatening a

militaristic one.

Kwon Jang-ho, Arirang News."

Lovers in Bloom | 木槿花开了 | 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 - Ep.111 [SUB : ENG,CHN,IND / 2017.11.06] - Duration: 34:05.

(Episode 111) Was I wrong about you?

I didn't think you'd do this over a measly $50,000.

What are you talking about?

$50,000 that was in the donation account

has been transferred to yours.

Excuse me?

I would've fallen for it too had the higher-ups

not asked me to check before issuing your bonus.

This is ridiculous.

Are you saying I'm making this up?

This just can't be.

We checked every day, so there's no way.

So what is it that I saw?

There was a wire transfer record.

Did you take a bribe from someone?

Senior Inspector Hwang.

You created the account, pretending

to be a good colleague to siphon money.

Please watch what you say.

You caused an uproar at the precinct.

The good samaritan turns out to be corrupt.

And after all that media coverage... Geez.

Like mother like son.

Your mom's the best real estate scammer there is,

and you're something else too

although you have nothing on your mother.

Senior Inspector Hwang!

You're done for.

You'd better brace for a dismissal over this.

What's going on?

What is that you barged into our station?

Inspector Cha embezzled donation funds.

That's ridiculous.

We checked the account together every day.

So what did you see?

You couldn't have accessed it

on your own as it isn't in your name.

You probably only saw what he showed you.

There's no way.

I'll eat my hat if Inspector Cha

did something like that.

So you'd better not err, Senior Inspector Hwang.

Nothing's been proven, so don't point fingers,

especially at a fellow police officer.

We'll see.

If what Inspector Cha did is proven true,

Senior Inspector Lee Gyoseok,

you'll be held to account too as his superior.

Excuse me?

You're partners with Inspector Cha, right?

They say birds of a feather flock together.

Senior Inspector Hwang!

You should've been careful after what your mom did.

How dare you!

Do you want to duke it out?

If there really is such a wire transfer record,

then it was fabricated.

Look into and let me know too

who did such a thing and why.

If you can't find out,

I'll be sure to get to the bottom of it.

Goodbye, sir.

Are you okay?

About what?

Inspector Cha.

Don't mind me and go home.

What exactly went wrong?

If you leave like this,

I'll worry and lose sleep.

Moo Gunghwa.

Could you sleep soundly

if this had happened to me?

You're up against Senior Inspector Hwang no less.

I'm your partner.

Don't worry. I'll handle it.

Are you okay?

Don't worry, sir.

I'll see you tomorrow.

You're great in every way,

but this is a no-no.

How can you be allergic to alcohol?

I can still keep you company though.

What are you doing? Please slow down.

I'm afraid Inspector Cha

has gotten himself into a serious bind.

What happened?

The donation account he set up for Officer Choi...

Someone must've tampered with it.

$50,000 was moved to Inspector Cha's account.

Are they suggesting he took it?

That's ridiculous.

Of course I know it's ridiculous.

He'll eventually be able to clear his name,

but honor is very important to Inspector Cha.

Given his personality,

he'll have a hard time being under suspicion.

So please stay by his side and prop him up.

At times like this, who else can

keep him together but the woman his loves?

Sir.

Cha Taejin loves you very much.

He doesn't.

Give me a break.

You're both such fools that it drives me mad.

May I ask you something?

It's what Senior Inspector Hwang said earlier.

He mentioned Inspector Cha's mother.

There was an incident a long time ago.

Did you know Inspector Cha's father was a cop too?

Yes.

His wife was arrested for real estate fraud

in his jurisdiction of all places.

That with other unsavory incidents

led to quite a prolonged uproar.

That scumbag Hwang is using that

on purpose to provoke Inspector Cha.

That mean, nasty human being.

Inspector Cha's father thus lost favor

and couldn't stay on until full retirement age.

That's when his mother left the family too.

Cha Taejin seems fine on the outside,

but he's probably wounded all over inside.

Uri.

Mom!

Mom, Grandma's ill.

What?

Moo Suhyeok, we need to talk.

So what will you do?

I'm afraid I'll have to call it quits.

What?

Bora wants to separate.

So you'll just do it?

That's right.

You make it sound so easy.

Was this all you amounted to?

Hey, Moo Gunghwa.

I heard something very shocking just now.

Our Inspector Cha, that proud man,

turns out be a wounded soul.

But I didn't know and only rubbed

salt into his wounds.

I didn't know

and yet demanded he understand me.

What do you know about Bora anyway?

Did you make an effort to truly understand her?

Why? Did you hear something that hurt your pride?

Is that why you're being like this?

Moo Gunghwa.

Suhyeok, I hope

you won't be as stupid as me.

Why is the almighty Ms. Lee Seonok

bedridden and dejected over something like this?

This won't do.

You startled me.

What do you mean?

I can't just let this happen.

You know no one

can stop Suhyeok when he gets all headstrong, right?

This could lead to disaster.

So what will you do?

What else?

I'll have to make them reconcile and live happily.

They're madly in love. You know that.

I do, but...

I don't know what led to this fiasco,

but I'll go to Bora...

No. I'll go to Chairman Jin

and beg that awful man if I must

to stop their divorce.

I'll do whatever it takes

to stop that from happening.

Am I to watch my child ruin his life?

Mom.

Hi, Uri.

Come here.

Come.

Uncle Suhyeok, where did Aunt Bora go?

Home.

Why?

Her father's ill.

Then when is she coming back?

I'm not sure.

This is new. Who gave it to you?

Aunt Bora.

She said she made it.

Isn't it cute?

Yes. It is cute.

Aunt Bora said this is my little brother.

Duri.

She gave this to me

and then gave me a big hug.

I hope she comes back soon.

Hi, Duri. You're well, right?

I miss your daddy.

If he knew, he'd fuss over you non-stop,

telling you stories and singing for you.

I'm such a scatterbrain. The soup will boil off.

Move.

No, I'll do it.

It's fine. It's fine.

You can't even smell food.

Start over.

Jaehui really seems to care for you.

Mom.

A divorce isn't a blemish these days.

Just look. Your brother doesn't care either.

So stop being a mope here

and get divorced instead

and start anew with Jaehui in America.

One mistake is more than enough.

Bora.

But I'm lucky.

I don't want to marry again,

but I did want a baby.

Dad!

What is it?

Dad seems to be moving a little bit.

He was at the edge of the bed when I came in.

He could have fallen off.

Really?

We should call Dr. Jang and ask him

to bring a wheelchair.

Dr. Jang said if he could move,

lots of exercise would aid his recovery.

Mom.

We should take him out for walks and such.

Okay.

Dad.

It's me, Bora.

Are you awake?

How did it go?

Has Officer Choi's matter been resolved?

Yes.

But why do you look distraught?

Are there problems with the investigation?

No.

It may be tough, but you're doing what you want.

It was tough for you

when you resigned, right?

You must've considered being a cop your calling.

I did.

I felt lost, wondering what

I could do with my life.

But I have you though.

You're doing my share and more beautifully.

Thank you.

Dad.

Go to bed. You must be tired.

Why don't you try

talking with your mother again?

Moo Gunghwa.

For whatever it's worth, she's still your mother.

I said I didn't want to talk about her again.

- But... / - That's enough.

That woman's different.

Inspector Cha.

You're mistaken if you think all mothers are alike.

Some are different,

oblivious to

how they've wronged others.

Unfortunately, that's how my mom is.

Thank goodness.

So what did Dr. Jang say?

To see how it goes since Dad's made progress.

We got a wheelchair,

so he should get better with exercise.

Oh. The article's dropping today, right?

I just checked again, so don't worry.

Very soon, not only will the article drop

but the story will be on all 4 major web portals.

The story's scandalous,

so netizens will post links left and right.

Do you have lunch plans?

Yes. With Hwang. We have something to discuss.

Oh.

You know Cha Taejin's story must keep going out.

Have your contact keep posting in real time.

Yes, okay.

Don't mess up.

Geez. This is just ludicrous.

Over $50,000? $50,000?

Maybe if it was $500 million.

They have no idea of your caliber.

How dare they!

If they wanted to make up a story, they should've

made it more believable.

Who'd believe this?

Why are you so worked up?

How can I not be worked up?

It feels like I was insulted too.

I don't trust Senior Inspector Hwang one bit.

I suppose I never did.

He has no idea what's going on.

He called me a weasel

and accused me of all kinds of things.

So don't mind him too much.

I'm sure it'll all work out.

This is nothing for the all-powerful Cha Taejin.

What is this about?

Your eyes somehow look downcast.

Please stop.

I was planning to stop anyway.

In any case, thank you.

It makes me feel a lot better.

Come with me.

What?

Just come with me.

What's with the beef?

I wanted to treat you to some beef.

Lunch is on me today.

You're not in a position to buy lunch

as people will talk.

It's fine.

You won't take your wallet out as of today.

I must vigilantly watch over you as your partner.

There's no telling what might go wrong.

But you can buy coffee.

You're being fresh.

Hurry up and eat. It'll burn.

We're not getting up until you finish everything.

It's just that I can relate.

You know

I even staged a solo protest because

I was accused of using excessive force.

If you want to do it,

I'll gladly join you.

As partners. It'll be cool.

You don't have to be burdened by this.

I'm not burdened. I want to help.

I know this is stupid,

but may I say it?

What is it? Go ahead.

Chin up.

So it really was stupid.

Reporter Hong, what's going on?

Really?

Okay.

(Good samaritan Inspector Cha Taejin)

(falls from grace for suspected embezzlement!)

No way.

Inspector Cha.

I expected this.

Hello, Mother.

You look so tired.

Are you eating well?

How's your father?

He's gotten a bit better.

Thank goodness.

He must get emotional reassurance

from having you nearby.

Leave with Suhyeok.

Don't worry about us

and go away to live comfortably.

No.

I'm sorry, Bora,

for being unnecessarily demanding

and upsetting you.

I caused you a lot of grief, didn't I?

Please forgive me.

It wasn't because I hated you...

It's not that, Mother.

Then what is it?

You love Suhyeok.

But love alone doesn't seem to be enough.

What?

So it's ultimately because Suhyeok's poor

and the economic gap is too great?

I'm sorry.

You're sorry?

You're sorry?

Did you not know he was poor?

If you were going to give up over

something so trivial, why'd you goad him?

You incited the poor kid

who was trying to hold back,

and now you're leaving him?

What will happen to Suhyeok if you do this?

Fine.

So you're determined to leave Suhyeok, right?

Where did you go without a word?

To see President Gu.

Seems like things are starting to look up.

Orders are soaring.

All 3 of us should've rejoiced at the news.

Bora posted new info

on the website every day to make this happen.

She was the best wife ever.

Man. Work is going well,

but Bora's missing in Moo Suhyeok's life.

Bora was everywhere in your world, but alas,

she's all that's missing.

Stop being cheeky.

When will the contest winners be announced?

It'll happen eventually.

Will peering at your phone hasten it?

Get to work instead of being impatient.

Huh? What's this?

This seems to be about my brother Taejin.

What kind of nonsense is this?

What is this?

(Inspector Cha Taejin suspected of embezzlement)

Inspector Cha is suspected of embezzlement?

"Two faces of the police force"? "Corrupt cop"?

This is absolute nonsense.

Sir, look at this article.

Inspector Cha's depicted as a fraud.

Darn it.

- We're back. / - Hi.

Get to work. Get to work.

Welcome back.

Haechan really made this?

Isn't it good?

He's quite good. That squirt.

Why cooking of all things?

Geez. You just won't let it go.

You're so stubborn.

As a mom, it can be upsetting.

But I'd like you to stop too.

At least there's something he's exceptional at.

Dad, Dad.

Something terrible has happened to Uncle Taejin.

What?

Stop worrying and find out what happened.

I'm sure there was a mistake.

Taejin would never do such a thing.

It's ridiculous.

Mr. Cha Sangcheol.

Don't you trust Taejin?

I trust him with all my heart.

Did you go somewhere?

The market.

They insist I should treat them to rice cakes.

Rice cakes?

I had a long day taking calls yesterday,

and now I might have to spend money on rice cakes.

I'm tired. I need to rest.

I'm going inside.

Looks like the market people and Mother don't know.

Don't tell her preemptively.

Hello?

It's me.

I'd like to see you about Taejin.

Okay. See you there then.

I have to step out.

Please take care of Chairman Jin.

Yes, ma'am.

Cha Taejin's indeed no pushover.

Really?

He's got fortitude.

He refuses to cower even just a tiny bit.

But

this really is okay, right?

I'm counting on you.

Don't worry.

Cha Taejin won't get out of this.

I made

doubly, triply sure no one would ever find proof.

You need not worry. Here.

It felt so good seeing

his face harden.

He'll have too much on his plate

to look into your accident for now.

And I'll get him fired before he resumes.

And that lousy partner of his...

It'd be nice to get rid of Moo Gunghwa too,

but we must take care of Cha Taejin first.

I think

this was their doing.

You mean Chairman Jin set Taejin up?

Why?

Because Taejin's investigating him?

He collapsed and is bedridden.

Then who?

Chairman Jin's son has a vendetta

against our Taejin.

What?

Chairman Jin

had cut ties with Hanju Bank over disagreements.

But the son suddenly opened accounts there.

I found out that this incident blew up at Hanju.

What?

If Dohyeon was behind this,

it won't be easy.

Tell Taejin to brace himself.

I'll also try to find a way from the inside.

But why is he doing this to Taejin?

Does he harbor a grudge over his dad's case?

Or is it because of you?

Officer Moo Gunghwa.

Chairman Jin's son Jin Dohyeon

is in love with Officer Moo Gunghwa.

Inspector Cha, don't you worry.

People at the precinct are up in arms,

saying it's ridiculous.

I asked several people,

and no one believes it.

It'll all work out, so don't worry.

This won't be easy.

Hwang seems to be involved,

so I doubt he's set it up haphazardly.

Inspector Cha, your father is here.

What happened?

Don't worry too much.

But why'd you come all this way?

I just met with your mother.

She says the Jins

joined forces with Hanju Bank

and set you up.

Chairman Jin's son Jin Dohyeon

opened accounts at the bank

Chairman Jin had cut ties with

right before this thing happened.

Did you open the donation account at Hanju?

Sir.

Taejin.

Was it you?

Sit down and talk.

Were you behind this?

I saw the article too.

I know you must be anxious,

but you can't investigate by

laying the blame on whomever.

You can't wrongly accuse someone

while looking so wronged yourself.

Am I right, Inspector Cha Taejin?

So this is how you want to scare me.

Do you know

what I've learned as a police officer?

People always make mistakes after

committing a crime to cover it up,

unaware they're bringing themselves to ruin.

From what I've found, the real culprit behind

Officer Moo's husband's accident was never caught.

N. Korea and trade deal to top agenda during Trump's stay in Seoul - Duration: 4:15.

Staying with Trump's 12-day 5-nation Asia tour.

Once in Korea, regional security and economic collaboration between Seoul and Washington

are expected to be the top issues for the two leaders to focus on.

Lee Unshin zooms in on the core discussion topics.

After their first meeting in June this year at the White House,... the leaders of South

Korea and the U.S. are having face-to-face talks once again -- this time, in Seoul.

(standup) It's been some 20 years since Mr. Trump last

traveled to the nation, and this is his first visit as the leader of the United States.

He comes at a pivotal time.

With North Korea's missile program entering an unprecedented stage, and tensions threatening

regional security, there's much for him to discuss and iron out with the South Korean

president.

The North has developed ballistic missiles which can now hit the continental United States,

on top of recently conducting its 6th nuclear test.

Front and center of discussions for President Moon Jae-in and President Trump: effective

measures to counter the continuing threats.

(English) "The question of how to pressure North Korea

to bring the country to the bargaining table for denuclearization will be a very prominent

issue.

Second on the agenda would be China, the question there is what role China can play in that

regard.

Thirdly, potential cooperation between South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. on dealing with

the North Korean nuclear threat."

Boosting the military capabilities of the two allies; through more frequent joint drills

and an easing of the range-limit in the missile guidelines - are some of the major topics

on that front.

But there are areas Moon and Trump need a more united voice on-- while the White House

highlights 'all options' including military action, Seoul's approach is dialogue under

the condition of Pyongyang freezing its nuclear and missile tests,... with President Moon

stressing no country can consider military action without Seoul's consent.

(Korean) "Easing tensions and diminishing the possibility

of war on Korean peninsula, is what Korean people and its government need right now.

Obviously the U.S. and North Korea don't want war, but regarding cases of unexpected armed

conflict, if Trump could vocalize that he wants peace, then Seoul and Washington can

find a just, joint message toward Pyongyang."

Besides security issues, the two nations' economic interests are sure to be brought

up during Trump's two-day stay in Seoul.

And this could be a difficult topic for Korean officials.

(Korean) "There will be pressure on speeding up the

renegotiation process of the Free Trade Agreement between the two nations, and it will be brought

up along the lines of stressing the importance of cooperation between Seoul and Washington

for regional peace."

However, upon request from Washington, South Korea, the 6th largest trading partner of

the U.S., has already entered renegotiation talks over the 5-year trade pact recently,

hoping to enhance the mutual benefits the deal can bring.

(Korean 4:03~4:10,1:17~35) "From the first two official meetings between

trade officials, Korea has already emphasized the benefits that the trade deal can bring

to both sides.

From now on it will be the States' Trade Representative who will discuss which aspects should be modified."

Trump is on a tight schedule here.

Along with the bilateral summit, he will visit the largest overseas military installation

under U.S. operation, Camp Humphreys and will make an address at the National Assembly.

Considering his past speeches and unconventional approach to diplomacy,... pundits expect unscripted

subjects could be brought up during his stay.

But there is much anticipation too... on what could be an opportunity to strengthen a decades-old

friendship between allies...

(Korean) "We will make this a defining moment for the

two countries' relationship.

The two nations will take a step beyond comprehensive partnership, and solidify a great alliance."

As these are times when strong diplomatic, economic, and military cooperation between

the two countries is considered more crucial than ever.

Blue House discloses some details of Tuesday's state banquet - Duration: 2:42.

South Korea's top office is extra busy with final preparations for the state banquet President

Moon Jae-in will host for his American counterpart.

For details of what tomorrow's banquet will entrail we turn to our Cheongwadae correspondent

Hwang Ho-jun.

( ...) This melody,... the Light Cavalry Overture,

will resonate through the banquet hall of the Blue House Tuesday night, signaling the

start of the grand performance prepared in honor of the visiting President.

The music, according to the Presidential Office of Cheong Wa Dae, was selected based on the

hope that South Korea and the U.S. will continue to march together as strong allies.

On Monday afternoon, the Blue House disclosed some of the details of Tuesday's state banquet

hosting U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

(KOREAN) "We are preparing this banquet to show the

greatest honor and courtesy that our state guests deserve,... not only to reinforce close

fellowship between the two Presidents and First Ladies but also to invoke the spirit

of the ironclad South Korea-U.S. alliance."

President Trump will be bringing in about fifty guests including White House Chief of

Staff John Kelly, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson,

and Senior Advisor Jared Kushner.

According to the Blue House, President Moon and First Lady Kim Jung-sook will

greet the American President and First Lady and other guests,...

and they will all enter Cheong Wa Dae's State guest house called Yeong Bin Gwan, which is

where the dinner banquet will be held.

The national anthem of both countries will be played, starting with the Star Spangled

Banner and moving on to Korea's Aegukga.

President Moon will welcome his U.S. counterpart and offer a toast,...

President Trump will then follow suit,.. and dinner will be served shortly.

Starting around 9 pm, a musical performance featuring both K-pop and Korean traditional

music will take place before the Trumps head back to their hotel.

Among the 120 guests are also Korea's so-called "three next-in-command,"... which are the

Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the National Assembly Speaker along

with government and military officials.

Those who have contributed to the allies' bilateral relations, as well as dozens of

select American citizens residing in Korea, were also invited.

(STANDUP) The Blue House's efforts to impress its guests

stem from the fact that President Trump is not only the first sitting U.S. President

to make a state visit to South Korea in 25 years, but also the first head of state to

visit the country since President Moon's inauguration in May.

That plus the two countries' strong alliance,... and the reasons for this relative extravagance

become clear.

U.S. Pres. Trump shows off friendship with Japanese PM; discusses N. Korea and trade - Duration: 2:16.

Trump and Abe spent a fair amount of time together in the past couple of days.

They even played one of ther favorite sports, and presumably had a chance to touch on North

Korean issues and trade while out in the green.

According to our Oh Jung-hee, the duo appeared keen to show off their strong alliance and

friendship.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe started off their get-together

on Sunday by playing nine holes of golf and eating a hamburger made from American beef.

A low-key start... but that paved way for in-depth discussions...

including topics that could be quite sensitive for the two.

(English) Nov. 5, 2017 "Thank you very much for being here, we are

in the midst of having very amazing discussions on many subjects including North Korea and

trade.

The relationship is really extraordinary.

We like each other, and our countries like each other, and I don't think we've ever been

closer to Japan than we are right now."

President Trump's schedule on Monday, other than meeting with the Japanese emperor, and

the summit talks with Prime Minister Abe,... also focused on North Korea and trade.

At his speech to Japanese business leaders on Monday morning,... he promised to promote

trade between the two countries even further... and create a favorable investment environment

for Japanese businesses by rolling back regulations.

But he also emphasized that the U.S. has suffered from (quote)"massive trade deficits" with

Japan... and that he hopes to turn that around.

Later in the day, President Trump met with families of Japanese citizens abducted by

North Korea... to raise the issue of North Korea's human rights abuses.

(English) "It's a very, very sad number of stories that

we've heard.

And they were abducted in all cases by North Korea.

We will work together very closely and see if we can bring them back to Japan where they

want to be."

The two-day period -- from President Trump's arrival in Japan on Sunday... until after

Monday's summit talks with Prime Minister Abe -- seems to have been long enough for

the two leaders to show off their friendship AND touch upon key bilateral issues.
