If you've ever wanted to know how well

optimized your video is or somebody

else's on YouTube stay tuned because

we're going on a deep dive on a brand

new vidIQ tool.

Hello everyone welcome at to vidIQ my name is Rob if

this is your first time here we are

YouTube tool and channel that aims to

help you get more views in less time to

help grow your channel. One of the ways

we do that is through this wonderful vidIQ

Chrome extension that you see on

screen now. This is the video watch page

on YouTube and if you haven't used

vidIQ before you may be wondering what

on earth all of these numbers are and

statistics on the right hand side of a

screen. This is our industry-leading

video score card and it unearths all sorts

of data about every single video on

YouTube such as views per hour. It also

looks at social engagement of videos and

will even grade your search engine

optimization to find out whether videos

are as discoverable as they should be.

And the video tags here show you

where tags rank for this particular

video. What we're looking at today is a

brand new tool that we're bringing to

you and it comes in the form of this

section here which is the video

optimization checklist. Now I'm a video

creator just like you and one of the

most stressful times of any video

especially here at vidIQ where we

upload three to four videos a week is

the actual uploading process. You've

spent hours creating a video and then in

a rush to get the video onto YouTube you

forget to do a custom thumbnail or you

don't write enough tags, it's not

optimized properly, or you forget to add

the video to a playlist. There's all of

these things to think about when it

comes to YouTube to help them serve your

content to the right audience and have

maximum exposure. So what we have here is

the video optimization checklist which

for your own videos includes 15

different points for you to refer to. Now

each of these checkpoints are indicated

by a green tick or a red cross. For

example if you haven't added the video

to a playlist

you will get a red cross. If you haven't

shared the video to Facebook you will

get a Red Cross. However for titles, tags

and descriptions it's slightly different.

We rate your metadata so to speak. For

example with a title if it's less than

20 characters or more than 60 characters

we will give you a red cross because for

a title you need some keywords in there

so that would be at least a phrase of

some kind over 20 characters, but once

you go over sixty characters that will

cut off your title in some previews. So

the viewer may not be able to read the

entire title before clicking on the

video. As we've said tags are always used

to help categorize your contents giving

YouTube a little bit more information

about where the video should go and who

it should be served to so you should

include at least 200 characters worth of

tags which may be long tail or short

tail keywords. Make sure you include tags

to get the green tick. The

maximum is of course 500 characters.

As for descriptions the first

three or four lines are vitally

important to YouTube in terms of, again,

looking at those keywords of your

content and being able to index them

correctly in searches. Again

when you show those thumbnail previews

and description previews those first few

lines are read so we suggest having at

least 300 characters. The rest of the

check points are very much make sure you

do all of these things when you upload a

video, for example video cards. You want

to push your audience to more of your

content to increase session watch time.

The same with end screens, your content

doesn't have to end with the conclusion

of your video, make sure you're pushing

your audience to more of your content.

Closed captions

these help YouTube with indexing your

content, it will search for keywords and

it could help with translations as well.

Reply to comments, obviously very

important for improving engagement. When

somebody sends something to you,

asks a question, they put some time and

effort into that you should put time and

effort into engaging with your audience.

Sharing on Facebook and sharing on

Twitter. Obviously you wanna share it on

other social media platforms. You can

do this in slightly different ways so if

you don't share to Twitter or Facebook

directly from YouTube that's not too

much of a concern if you have another

plan of action. When it comes to

monetization enabled obviously that's

something you'll be wanting to do if

making a income stream from your content

is important to you. Added to a playlist,

all videos should be added to some form

of playlist and you should be adding

playlists on a regular basis. People

watching videos in playlists

watch more of your content. Again it

ups the watch time. Making the video

public goes without saying, obviously. You

may have set one of your live streams to

unlisted so it's worth checking that

just in case you've made that mistake.

And of course more engagement options

down at the bottom here making sure that

you've either pinned one of your own

comments to add more information about

the video or pinning your favorite

comments from your audience that really

does inspire them when you do that. And

of course if you're going to read the

comments you want to heart them. It sends

a notification to the viewer and they

feel good about themselves that the

video creator has taken time to read

their comments. Ao that's what the video

optimization checklist looks like for

one of your own videos, how does that

differ to a video if it's not one of

your own? If we visit this video tutorial

from Sean Cannell at Think Media, thank you

very much Sean for the awesome tutorial,

the scorecard is on the right hand side

as we can see but if we scroll down to

the video optimization checklist it

includes ten checkpoints not fifteen.

Some of the data that we collect is

private to your own content so we only

share it on your videos but this content

here is public. The ones that you won't

see on other people's videos are custom

thumbnails, closed captions, reply to a

recent comment, the monetization enabled

checkpoint, and added to a playlist.

These are all private things to your

channel which is why we don't share them

and other people's channels but as we

can see here Sean at Think Media, big

thumbs up of course, he's an expert at

YouTube optimization and he has a more or

less perfectly

optimizes video. Not shared it on Twitter

maybe he's done that through a

different source or

link which can't be detected at through

our checklist. So that's how a

near-perfect video is optimized but what

we haven't looked at yet is when a video

hasn't been optimized at all and it

looks a little like this. So right now

this video isn't absolute dumpster

fire but we can save it because it

hasn't been published yet. We need to add

cards

endscreens, custom thumbnails, all sorts of

things need to be fixed here and you

also see our recommendations for titles,

tags, and descriptions. If I mouse over it

will give me a recommendation of putting

the title between 20 and 60 characters

it looks like here it's over 60

characters, same with tags we've probably

not added any at all and the description

is too short, we haven't done anything

with our description. That needs fixing

Now one of the good things we have

here on optimization is when you haven't

optimized it provides links with these

arrows so say if I need to add some

video cards to this video I simply click

on the arrow and that will automatically

take me to the video card section of

this video so I can then add some cards

which will send my audience to more

videos on my content and you can do that

with the end screens and over options

from the video optimization checklist.

Now for some awesome news, everything

you've seen so far in this optimization

checklist is 100% free when you download

the vidIQ Chrome extension. There is

one paid aspect to this optimization

checklist and this is for pro and boost

users and that is the controversial

keywords checker. Now if I look at a

another person's video such as

Sean Cannell's again we have a potential

controversial keyword here which is the

word shoot. He's included that in his

video description here so it's just a

warning that your content may be flagged

for demonetization when you include some

of the words that we have in our

controversial keyword checker.

There are plenty more what you might

describe as a saucy comments in there. This

is not a defacto this will be

demonetised warning, it's a guide to make

sure that if you are using particular

words how YouTube may interpret them.

So there you have it folks the video

optimization checklist tool, not only an

opportunity to audit your own content

but to spy on your competition as well

all from the YouTube watch page. We'd

love to hear your thoughts on this tool

let us know in the comments below and of

course this is all part of our vidIQ

Chrome extension a link is in the

description and as we said it's free

to download. Enjoy the rest of your video

making day bye for now

kpop incidents part 1 [pl/eng] - Duration: 14:57.

Hello guys, welcome back to my yt channel, and today I've got 17 most controversial incidents in kpop!

You gave me so much examples, so I'll do my best to make two episodes about it.

Or even more.

There is so much to talk about, but I dont want to get ya bored, guys.

So let's start!

First incident was because of Wanna One.

Boys had very nasty situation

Because before the broadcast they were playing with camera, and they thought that it was turned off but it wasn't.

They were swearing, complaining, one of them said that he was pooping at morning.

They were cursing a lot and it was really inappropriate .

Unfortunately video is no longer available so I can't show you.

I found only some screenshoots.

Staff member

I mean, woman member

Asked them to prepare themselves for performance

But they treated her wrong, actually they brushed her off.

Didn't give a shit

One of them released his phone number.

And Lin asked Sorento to not coming to their dorm.

Should we be surprised?

When I was searching some videos about them in net

I found a lot of when they are pushed, smashed, squeezed by fans.

We need to know that they are working so hard, cuz they debuted recently.

There is a lot of work ahead of them and that's why they are a bit tired.

Characters of second incident I don't have to introduce

Because I'm talking about band, that debuted recently - Honey Popcorn.

Girls are well known in Japan, because they have got kinda controversial workplace...

Because they are AV actresses.

Yua said, "Currently, I'm promoting as an AV actress in Japan. I'm very serious about that job, too." She continued, "But I want to focus on Honey Popcorn's promotions for now. I understand there are people who find it difficult to support us. I want to think preciously of the ones who do give us support and it'll make me happy if they continue to give us more support."

Miko also said: We will work hard to live up to the expectations of the ones who give us support and I hope the number of people who like us will increase."

Let's think about one thing.

Because they released their MV recently.

And if we look at this MV, do we see that they are AV actresses?

I will not say anything about it

But Isn't there any girlsband that showing off more?

So that issue is for you guys, You can say whatcha think down below.

Character of third issue is Wooshin fro Up10tion.

He was under fire because he molested Somi

While both were MCs in The Show.

YMC Ent., TOP Media and SBS denied those rumors but fans still wanted to be apologized.

It was really far-fetched.

Fourth case is about molested girlfriend by Jisoo from Lovelyz.

I'll not be talking abou that, not at all, because I was talking about it in first episode.

It's on the end of it. I don't need to say it again, you can watch this.

Fifth incident is about Tiffany from SNSD.

And no, it's not about kicking off Jessica from band.

One day she used Snapchat's filter and emoji on Insta caption

with Japan flag.

It wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't South Korea Independence Day.

Fans was outraged because it's affront for Koreans.

Their history means a lot for them.

And every affront like this one is abusive.

Snapchat post expired, as caption under Instagram post.

But at least Tiffany got it in the neck.

6th issue is about king of kpop - GD.

There is a lot of issues that we can talk about and probably that's what I will do.

But now I'm talking about the way that he released his new album Kwon Jiyong.

It's not typical way to do that, because he released his album at 4GB pen-drive

GD said that it must be something that every fan can use for a long time.

In Korean Charts Sale was excluded

because pendrive is not an CD.

As I said sale was excluded so he didn't win a lot of charts.

Just recently his album is known as an album so sale is included.

At number 7 we've got seven members of Block B.

Because their issue is about their behavior in Thailand.

That was kinda long time ago, in 2012 if I'm right.

But we all remember person because of his bad deeds, not those good.

Let's skip their behavior in there, because interview was called infantile.

Jihoon was clapping by his foot and hands.

What was inappropriate.

But I think that the worst behavior was that

Zico said something wrong about flood victims in Thailand.

He said that they brought money

and they will give it

to victims to save them.

After a question: "How much do you have?"

Zico said 7000 won, in price gives us $ 6

We don't know if it was for real or if it was a joke

But every Block B member burst into laugh, what was incongruous too

and add fuel to the fire.

Link to video and (polish) article down below, enjoy.

I'll not talk a lot about 8th issue, because you just need to read about it

But I think that kpoper with lot of years in kpop will know what I'm talking about.

And I'm talking about Seungri's every sex scandal.

There was a lot of them.

Because girls to backbite him all time long, talking about that he is taking them into hotels.

I was talking about it in 2nd or 3rd episode.

But the most popular sex scandal was that he was sleeping in a hotel with Japanese.

After sex, he [exploded] on her, didn't grab her a towel

That's why we call it towel-case of Seungri.

I'm out of words, Seungri is a womenizer and thats all.

9th incident is about blackface by Mamamoo.

Girls was trying to be Bruno Mars!

If only they do that...

Our 10th issue is about dark past of Monsta X members.

I've got something about Kihyun.

Everything started with Twitter post that to backbite him

This guy was outraged, because someone who was smoking, drinking a lot and attacked a girl

Now he is popular, he will earn a lot of money and people listen to his music.

He is so bad, people can't listen to him, cuz they will be bad too!

Someone threaded this guy to remove a post

And this guy, said that he has nothing to loose

and he will be talking like that as long as people will realize that he is bad.

So if we are talking about dark past of band members...

You called this a criminal case

Maybe its kinda right, because

NCT member - Taeyong did internet fraud.

showing a very bad vocabulary

He offended a girl

Which made me laugh even It shouldn't

But he said

"Because of her body i see 13 people, not 10."

Its obvious i think that he was under fire.

He apologized so honestly, fest guilty. I will say it again. That's his past.

12th issue is about Baekhyun from EXO.

Because he was accused that he makes a jokes about depressed people.

After he said: "A lot of people say they're depressed. If I may express my thoughts, I don't know why people get depressed or have insomnia to be honest.

And he added: I'm not criticizing it. I know you can't force yourself to only think good thoughts, but there are good people around you. You have friends, and you have me and the members.

But our today's episode won Jae from DAY6.

He said as a MC from ASC

that you should take your girlfriend to thee mcdonald on first date, no to expensive restaurant

Because if she will leave you, you wouldn't loose money.

14th incident is about wrong accusation

Daesung from BIGBANG was charged with an accident

unfortunately with lethal people.

Daesung called for police and ambulance.

A lot of things in this case was explained but fans for long time wanted him to apologize.

15th issue is about dredging up from Mesozoic.

And I'm talking about drug case with Park Bom.

Because of that

was no longer as a 2NE1 member.

There is an app Beat Evo

Where you can be menager of YG bands

And there still we've got 2NE1 but without Bommie.

Bommie wasn't promoting with 2NE1.

And just recently she added a video, showing herself on the internet.

One before last issue is that kfans started to burn every poster, postcard and pics of Irene from RV

because she said that she rode a book for feminists.

And las issue is that Onew was accused of molesting some girl in club.

He was very drunk, touched her on her leg.

I found an article - where, with who, when and what he was doing

supposedly, some of his drunken friends was trying to embrace him.

Rest of SHINee was as drunk as he was.

I'll not talk about it.

That's all for today, thanks for watching

So there are my social media.

Soul Contracts Life Lessons, Hidden Blessings & Graduating With Honors - Duration: 3:08.

Soul Contracts Life Lessons, Hidden Blessings & Graduating With Honors

by Nicole Frolick,

As souls, we make agreements before we incarnate into our physical bodies.

These agreements contain, among many other things, the lessons our higher self chooses

to experience for this particular lifetime.

Through these lessons, our higher self knows that we can return our alignment closer and

closer to from which we are all created, Source/God energy.

Through the duality of this dimension here on earth, our goal is to harmonize and unite

the fractal aspects of our Self back into One.

While up in the higher dimensions of love these lessons may seem extremely beneficial

to our soul, down here on Earth the experience is often painful, enduring, and in some cases

too much to bear.

However, as the saying goes, we are never given more than we can handle.

One of the ways we can shift our perception away from pain is to understand that the rewards

for completing our lessons with honors includes released pain or trauma, but also the bestowing

of gifts for a job well done.

Yes, we do indeed receive graduation gifts or whats also called cosmic inheritance.

And often times, receiving these gifts will shift your life into a timeline with more

love, joy, and abundance.

These are natural states of being that we have forgotten are our divine birth right.

But, in order to remember this, we must first do the work and learn the lesson well.

Understanding our life lessons and what they are is a key component to the ascension process

because as we begin uniting our fractal soul, we increase our frequency through unity and

peace within.

Our lessons, can present themselves in similar physical realities of others but have completely

different paths of healing.

I will discuss this further in the video below and why doing what has been successful for

others may never get you the same desired results.

Its important to go within and truly know who you are so that you may complete your

lessons with honors.

Otherwise, you will only end up repeating the lesson over and over until you learn it

fully.

There are no short cuts or skipping levels.

There are certain contracts that can be broken, but your lessons cannot be changed or avoided.

To understand the purpose of your soul contracts and what waits for you in the form of graduation

gifts once you complete your lessons with honors, please watch the video below.

Love and light to you all,

ARE YOU GUILTY? THE TRUTH ABOUT PALMOIL - Duration: 13:29.

What is palmoil?

It is in up to 50% of the products of any supermarket

For many years the media has been talking about it.

Are we really sure about what is the real problem?

Some people have decided to face the camera without knowing what they are going to talk about

Yeap, I´m nervous

My heart is coming out right now

I´ve been waiting with hype...

Pablo is a troublemaking. Yes, a real one!

I´m in the middle of the nowhere

We are gonna film something but I don´t know yet what Pablo will ask me

Let´s gonna start the test, I don´t have any idea what´s going on but..

Really, this looks like a real tv show or something!

Okey, let´s go.

Okey, these are the rules

If you want to say something, say it to the camera..yes, absolutely

I will let you some time to answer them until you will tell me "Next"

First of all, be yourself. Try to express, naturalness...

What the hell is that dude?

Besides I had to plug the laptop straight to the car because I don´t have battery

First question: What is palmoil?

Palmoil is a type of oil that...

The only thing i know is that palmoil is so bad

it's a saturated fat

These fats accumulate in the heart causing...

Cardiac problems..yes, cardiac problems

it is extracted from the palm

Ah okey...okey! This is all about food and health stuff?

You didn´t tell me anything!

It´s a type of oil which is extracted from the palm, I guess

Oh shit, I don´t have any idea!

Palmoil?

Man...what the hell are you asking to me?

I don´t have any idea about palmoil, so i just prefer tell the truth and be honest with you

One of the best selling oils in the world

So...type of vegetal oil?

This is gonna be about questions, so I will look like I don´t know anything about that

Great, let´s go to the second one

I like it, I really like it!!

Looks like an environmental video

Do you think exist any problem about palmoil?

To extract it I think human have to deforest a lot of areas

The habitat of thousands of species because the human wants to get this oil

I´m not an expert but...

I know that palmoil is destroying many areas, forests...

I know palmoil is bad, but i don´t know what is going on about this theme or what exactly is destroying

Yeap, I guess, sure

I suppose they are destroying thousands and thousands of trees

I guess that to get palmoil the production must be huge and can get profits

I suppose there should be some problem but I just don´t know about it...

So this is the moment when you realize that you are like thousands and thousands of people who doesn´t know about that either

Okey, so next step, put your headphones on and whatch the first video

I´m coming

Next mission, put the first video

I´m searching the first video

I´m scared about what i will find

Let me some time to whatch the video so i can find something else about that

Okey, just a trip, right?

Those are the palmtrees

I guess those are the trees where the palmoil is extracted

I was right, this is what I was talking about, the oranguntans..

No, baby...!

You don´t like me, Pablo

So this is gonna be about sad things? I thought this would be happy!

Video is over

Okey

I´m screwy right now if I´m honest

Okey

I suppose all of you have seen the video

This video don´t explain yet about the problem but it says there exist some problem

Now as you can see I´ve changed the way I´m talking, don´t you thing?

At first I thought it was a joke, but noup, it doesn´t

When suddenly I found this images and i changed the way I´m talking

The way to express, the way to think or even the way to discuss the topic

Now I´m sending different facts about palmoil

I will let you some space to think about them

First fact. From 19990, Indonesia has lost more than 310.000km2 of forests as a result of the palm plantations

I mean...it´s a lot.

So in just 28 years...

...310.000km2?

I think this is wrong. It should be just 310km2, not 310.000km2, right?

Of course must be 310km2

Borneo, Sumatra as well are one of the regions with the most biodiversity on the planet.

More than 300.000 animals species has been found in their forests.

I´m figuring out about how is going all this

I think all this species will end extinguish

I still remember Matrix film when Smith agent talked about human is like a virus

Economics systems, capitalism, own life...

Even our clothes or we eat every day has made for our own confort

But we can´t forget nature gives us access to have all those resources

So one specie for every km2...wow

I'm freaking out

Their habitat, the tropical forest, has been destroyed and decimated, became in until 70% by palm plantations.

So the forest has been destroyed and now 70% became in palm plantations...

This is so heavy and the main reason is because all the food products we buy every day

it is also very bad for the body

70% really?

International amnesty informs has related how the government has taking advantage of the local people

Even kids for taking profits because of the palm plantations.

Many times we are thinking the world is over

And there are no way to fix this because many people are still destroying it every day

But i don´t think so. I think every single person has the choose to decide what can we do...

...and how to change the way we are treating the world

One of the most threat species is the orangutan, which has more than 98% AND in common with the human being.

Nowadays there are only two species (which are living on Sumatra and Borneo)

If we hurt ourselves among humans, why should not we harm the orangutans?

The human being is like that

A week ago, the last male white rhino died...

This is very sad.

It is very sad that a species disappears from the planet earth

...because of the human being

it's a sequence, like the butterfly effect. One thing leads to another

Did you know that most of the orangutans has decreased in more than 150.000 specimens since the beginning of the millennium?

So..just in 18 years...

Soon it will be extinguished

In addition to direct deaths from starvation

orangutans often suffered cruelty treatment, being burned alive

Even killed with guns or machetes.

I get chills read these things

But this is the reality

The worst part about it is that all of us are collaborating with this industry every time we buy things with palmoil

Most of the palm industry goes to Europe, especially on the cosmetic and food areas.

how not

I didn´t know palm industry goes to Europe...

I didn´t know cosmetics contain palmoil

Why do you think we still keep away to this reality? What would you do to change it?

In first place because all the money palm industry is providing

we remain oblivious to everything that comes with its production

Because the companies don´t want we know all this

Because the news don´t show us, there are economic interests behind it...

There are many people don´t want we know the truth

We are living in a bubble...

... and beyond this bubble it does not matter

we don´t want to know beyond it

I think we as individuals can do relatively little

reading the back of the packaging is very difficult

I think you should do a lot of campaigns trying to let people know

Obviously what I thought the palm was...

has ended up being another

I think we all have the possibility to contribute our little bit

so that everything can improves in a certain way

I doubt we are able to save it

I have to be a bit pessimistic, because I think the world is full of real bastards

Finally, I would like to end with this question.

Where do you think it comes the word "orangutan?

Just put the second video, you will find the answer at the beginning of it. Put you headphones on again and enjoy the process.

I don´t really know where orangutan word it comes

Orang...might be comes from orange like an english word

This shootings were filming by him..I´m excited

Man of the forest

Just amazing...looks like humans!

The truth is that i don´t know how humans can hurt orangutans

the cold blood of humans is incredible

So cutes!

Look like they are eating!

This is so beautiful!

I really would like to be there, if I have to be honest

They are so beautiful!

look what looks

okey, so...orangutan means...

man of the forest

an intimate video, a close video

it's a video that fills and give a message

Okey, so after saw this...

I don´t have words...

How do you feel? Express yourself!

Now I´m feeling like you are a pain in my ass, ahahahha

Noup, I´m joking!

Noup, is truth!

This things make me feel pretty nervous and it´s like...

besides being talking to a camera

I think i'm being optimist but I have faith in humanity

and i really hope that thanks to this video people can open their eyes

I am sad but at the same time impotent

I encourage people to look on all the labels if they have palm oil ...

...and do not buy it. Not only to save a little more the planet,

but for your own health, because palm oil is a real crap

The simple fact of telling the person next to you, so that we all know about this topic

so atrocious that are happening in the world

I think we build up a society around just money

I think is the only thing that matters..

and what to think only about resources, in removing, removing...

without returning to the ecosystem is what makes us fail as a species

I'm fucked, eh Pablo?

Well guys, I hope this video has helped you realize

... of this problem that there is regarding orangutans

secondly, thank you very much to all the people that appear in this video

because it has been a big support

in third place I am going to leave the link to one of the associations that work in the jungle of sumatra

where you will have the possibility of making a small donation

I would like each of you to contribute a small grain of sand

And finally, I would like you to take 5 products from your home ...

... randomly and tell me in the comments how many have palm oil

finally, I say goodbye knowing that the return home is just the beginning of the next adventure

Bye bye!

Black Hole Swarms | Space Time - Duration: 11:32.

Thanks to CuriosityStream for supporting PBS Digital Studios.

It's been conjectured that the center of the Milky Way contains not one but a vast

swarm of black holes.

And now we've actually seen them.

The core of our galaxy is a wild place.

The stars are so densely packed that the night sky would be 500 times brighter than our own.

A supermassive black hole, 4 million times the mass of our Sun lurks in the center.

It flings nearby stars into extreme slingshot orbits.

It consumes anything that gets too close, burping a blast of X-rays.

We know these things because we see them from our comfortable vantage point 28,000 light

years out in the galactic disk.

But there's one particularly terrible feature of the core that has only been has only be

hypothesized until now: The central few light years of the Milky Way is thought to contain

a vast swarm of smaller black holes that have rained in from the surrounding galaxy.

In this episode of Space Time Journal Club, we're going to delve into the recent Nature

paper Hailey et al. 2018, titled "A density cusp of quiescent X-ray binaries in the central

parsec of the Galaxy".

In it, these astrophysicists find powerful evidence that our own Milky Way core is

packed with 100s, maybe 1000s of black holes.

I'll get to how they found the black holes in a minute, but first I want to ask,

why did so many astrophysicists already believe there must be a swarm of black holes in the

galactic core?

Well, the simple answer is straightforward.

Dense things sink.

Colder, and hence denser water or air sinks to the bottom of the ocean or the atmosphere.

Dense elements like iron sink to the centers of forming planetary bodies in a process called differentiation.

And the densest stellar objects, like black holes, sink to the centers of galaxies or

star clusters.

We think black holes MUST gradually sink to the center of the Milky Way, although the

exact process is a wee bit more complicated.

Let me explain.

Black holes form when the most massive stars end their lives in spectacular supernova explosions.

After blowing off their outer layers, if the remaining stellar core is massive enough it

will collapse into a black hole.

We've discussed this whole process in an earlier episode.

We expect these so-called stellar-mass black holes to weigh in at between 5 and 15 solar

masses, although the recent gravitational wave signals detected by LIGO suggest they

may be even more massive.

Even after blowing off most of their mass in a supernova, these black holes are still

heavier than most stars.

This means they migrate towards the center of the Milky Way in a process called dynamical

friction.

It works like this: As a black hole orbits the galaxy, it tugs on its neighboring stars.

Those stars are accelerated towards the black hole and can gather behind it in a gravitational wave.

That overdensity behind the black hole pulls the black hole backwards, reducing its speed.

The black hole can also slingshot stars outwards, losing momentum in that process too.

The key is that the more massive object, usually the black hole, tends to donate its momentum

to the less massive object.

The ultimate result is that the black hole slows down and no longer has the velocity

it needs to maintain its circular orbit.

Gradually it falls towards the galactic center.

Now this process takes a really long time for a stellar-mass black hole.

Over a few billion years, we only expect the black holes from the central several light

years to have made much progress inwards.

However there's another process that can really drive a huge number of black holes

inwards.

Our galaxy is surrounded by these things called globular clusters.

These are like ancient, extremely dense mini-galaxies containing millions of stars.

Some are nearly as old as the universe itself.

They exist in a swarm surrounding the Milky Way, but sometimes they are captured by the

Milky Way and are dragged to its center by this dynamical friction process.

Because globular clusters are much more massive than a single black hole, they reach the galactic

center a lot more quickly.

Over the life of the Milky Way they have piled up in the galactic core forming a giant nuclear

star cluster.

Those globular clusters must have been full of ancient black holes, which would be carried

to the core with their parent cluster.

Those black holes should then sink ever further to the center of the galaxy.

Prior to this new result, it had been calculated that this process should lead to 10s of thousands

of black holes in the central few light years of the Milky Way's core.

So how did Hailey and team spot these black holes?

I mean they're supposed to be black, no?

While that's true: black holes are effectively invisible.

But things can be different if a black hole and a companion star are in a binary orbit

with each other.

If the companion star gets to close, its outer regions can fall into the gravitational influence

of the black hole.

Gas is syphoned off the star into a whirlpool – an accretion disk – around the black hole.

That gas heats up to crazy temperatures.

To us, it looks like a range of heat-glows - thermal radiation at different temperatures,

with the hottest glowing with extremely energetic X-rays.

These X-ray binaries are seen throughout the galaxy.

By the way, X-ray binaries can also result from a neutron star rather than a black hole

cannibalizing its companion, but today we're interested in black holes.

The brightest X-ray binaries are aggressively gobbling up their companion.

But that ravenous phase probably doesn't last all that long.

X-ray binaries likely spend most of their time in a quieter phase, with the gas just trickling

slowly from the companion star.

These quiescent X-ray binaries should be seen much more frequently than the active ones.

Frequently enough that if the galactic core is full of black holes then it should also

contain quiescent X-ray binaries.

Hailey and team used the orbiting Chandra X-ray observatory to hunt for these.

And, surprise surprise, they found them.

They spotted 92 point-like X-ray sources within one parsec, or around 3 light years of the

galactic center.

These were potential X-ray binaries, but there are other astrophysical critters that also

shines bright in X-rays.

One we expect to be common in the galactic core are magnetic cataclysmic variables – also

called polars.

Polars are a bit like X-ray binaries, except instead of a black hole or neutron star you

have a white dwarf with a powerful magnetic field.

Those magnetic fields act sort of like a dam, allowing gas from the companion star to build

up and then fall very suddenly onto the white dwarf producing a burst of X-rays.

But these polars produce a very different spectrum to X-ray binaries.

Polars only glow at a single extremely high temperature, while X-ray binaries glow at

both high and low energies due to the large temperature range of the accretion disk.

That allowed the researchers to weed out the X-ray sources that had the wrong spectra.

After weeding out polars and other uninteresting sources, there remained 13 probable quiescent

X-ray binaries, which appeared to be the type powered by black holes.

Now 13 doesn't sound like a swarm – but remember, only a small fraction of black holes

are seen as X-ray binaries.

The researchers extrapolate that there would need to be at least hundreds of stellar-mass

black holes in the central few light years in order to get these 13 X-ray binaries.

Now that's tens of thousands of times the black hole density anywhere else in the galaxy.

So yeah, it's a swarm of black holes.

If the sun was near the galactic core, the nearest black hole would be inside the solar

system's Oort cloud.

Besides being very cool and kind of freaky, this result is especially important for the

new field of gravitational wave astronomy.

We keep seeing the gravitational wave signals from black hole mergers, and as we've discussed

previously, they're kind of confusing.

If black holes are so densely packed in the centers of galaxies, then we should probably

know that if we want to understand the source of these gravitational waves.

So next time you see the Milky Way on the night sky, find the bright patch just to the

edge of the constellation of Sagittarius.

Consider what lies beyond that dusty veil.

Not just one gigantic black hole, but also a swarm of hundreds, maybe thousands

of smaller black holes, in what has to be the craziest and most terrifying environment

in nearby space time.

Last week we talked about some of the incredible ways for detecting gravitational waves beyond LIGO.

You guys had a lot to say.

Majestic Potato asks whether supernovae can produce gravitational waves detectable from earth.

Actually, yes, and LIGO itself may be able to see them.

The trick is that the supernova can't be spherically symmetric.

Gravitational waves are produced when the quadrupole moment of a mass distribution changes.

In non-technospeak - they're created in non-spherically or circularly symmetric movement of mass.

So if the explosion of a supernova is concentrated, say, more on one side, then LIGO could potentially

see the resulting gravitational waves.

JuxtaposedStars asks whether, theoretically, you could build an engine to extract power

from gravitational waves via the "sticky bead" method.

Sure, for the right definition of theoretically - that is, the laws of physics allow it.

The laws of engineering may beg to differ.

You'd need a phenomenal amount of matter spread over a vast region.

There may be more efficient ways to gather energy at that scale, like a good old fashioned

Dyson sphere.

A couple of you asked whether gravitational waves interfere with each other, or could

even be used in a two-slit experiment.

The answer to the first is definitely yes - two gravitational waves crossing paths will

add together.

At any one point in space and time this is either constructively, producing a stronger

stretching or contraction of space, or destructively, meaning their effect cancels out.

And the two-slit experiment?

In principle yes, but you'd need a material capable of blocking gravitational waves.

We now know that they can lose energy to matter... but you would need a LOT of matter.

I don't know, maybe a cosmic-scale wall of neutron stars with two gaps in it.

And what would you see?

Well to answer that I'd need a theory of quantum gravity.

So, let me get back to you.

The Rogue Wolf notes that the stellar gravitational wave detectors like the pulsar timing arrays

are a bit like using the rustling of leaves and grass to see the wind.

I don't have anything to add to that.

Sir, you are a poet.

If You're a Quiet Person, You Might Relate to These 10 Struggles - Duration: 4:00.

If You're a Quiet Person, You Might Relate to These 10 Struggles

Being a quiet person is not a choice.

Sometimes, people around think that a quiet person is weird that he or she is considered

as anti-social, and cannot socialize like most people.

Therefore, often people abandon the quiet person just because they are not doing the

same activities with others.

But you know what, quiet persons does really want to be considered and noticed just the

way they are and like people treat to others.

In their quiet acts, a quiet person have struggles that people don't know much.

Here are the struggles of a quiet person you need to know.

#1 - A quiet person is often considered to be difficult to socialize and to talk.

However, they always try to talk and make the communication going well.

It is only that they can't begin the communication with person who they do not really know well.

#2 - Because of the weirdness, they sometimes are abandoned by the people around.

However, quiet person always have the ways of making them comfortable by their selves

because indeed they used to do some activities alone.

Therefore, it does not really matter.

#3 - A person who does not know quiet person might think that they is arrogant and disrespectful.

Yet, in fact, they can share their thought easily.

It needs several times to make them feeling comfortable to share it.

#4 - Being guessed that they are a smart and clever person.

In fact, not every quiet person is like what people guess.

They do what other people do.

#5 - They choose to hold their feelings rather than express them to others for fear of even

pessimistic.

Until someone is forced and able to make them confident, the quiet one will remain pessimistic.

#6 - They hold their emotion themselves.

It is difficult to hold your anger before others.

When the quiet persons get angry of something, they are being the one who just know about

the anger.

#7 - They also difficult to express their opinion.

Sometimes when they are asked to speak, the voice is not louder, making it not to be heard

by others.

The quite person tend to struggle to that, though it is difficult for their traits.

#8 - Although they have tried to talk more, people are also sometimes unconscious about

that.

This makes a quite person has to repeat to what he or she talked about, and it makes

even more devastating for them.

#9 - Quiet persons are better off and will not argue a problem with people who they thinks

cannot understand the problem.

They will choose to be silent rather than having to fight the debate with others in

a forum.

#10 - They are often shy with others.

For example when we need help someone to do a job.

When we ask for the help of a quiet person, then most likely he or she will not be able

to refuse it even though he or she has another matter.

Because they want to be accepted by helping others.

After all, a quiet person has to struggle with their quietness.

Because sometimes people regard them is not fun to join.

So they need to act to be accepted.

Whereas, if we know more about them in their struggles, we can understand them and can

make the relation well.

All in all, that's some if the struggles you might relate as a quiet person.

So, really cool information isn't it?

How Leaders Handle Difficult Questions? - Duration: 18:08.

I'm madam secretary I'm Brennan and I'm 15 years old at my school body image is

a really big issue for girls my age I see with my own eyes the damage Donald

Trump does when he talks about women and how they look as the first female

president how would you undo some of that damage and how girls understand

that they are so much more than just what they look like

Wow

I am so proud of you for asking that question and I think both Chelsea and I

would like to say something about this you're you're right Mike my opponent has

just taken this concern to a new level of difficulty and meanness and you know

it's shocking when when women are called names and judged on the basis solely on

the basis of physical attributes so I think there's a couple of things we have

to do and I am passionate about this too because we know that young women begin

to get influenced at earlier and earlier ages by messages from the media forget

your mind forget your heart care only about what you look because that's all

we care about and we have to stand up against that women and men mothers and

fathers teachers everybody

so I mean think about it my opponent insulted Miss Universe I

mean how do you get more acclaimed than that but it wasn't good enough so we

can't take any of this seriously anymore we need to laugh at it we need to review

it we need to ignore it and we need to stand up to it and especially the

bullying there are too many young women online who are being bullied about how

they book

Donald Trump doesn't seem to see you in the good way that you do in the way that

we do here's what Donald Trump had to say about you and I want to get your

reaction to this he said at the National Prayer Breakfast this is not a big big

movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger to take my place and we know how that turned out

the ratings went right down the tubes it's been a total disaster and Mark will

never ever bet against Trump again and I want to just pray for Arnold if we can

for those ratings now this is the President of the United States fun I

think it is funny that he uses a prayer breakfast I think you know Plus you know

I have thick skin I mean this doesn't bother me at all and it is it's very

funny and it gave me an opportunity to then go and shout back and say you know

that the show didn't do well because you know one third of the audience left

because they boycott the show because you're the executive producer Donald

Trump would have just not to open up your mouth and tell everybody that

you're the executive producer he would have had really great ratings on the

show but they were there they advertise has left the audience left

they hate the guy sir means that they left and so I was caught in the middle

of this political thing there I'm sure that's why I said I'm not going to do

the show again

much for your time there's a lot to talk about there is Syria there is North

Korea that's China there's Ukraine there's Isis but inevitably I'd like to

begin by talking to you about Russian US relations there are pictures of you with

the Obama administration in which you look unhappy there are pictures of you

with President Trump in which you look like you're having fun

so what is that is that the way it is I don't have since I haven't seen any

picture of me which could be described as me being happy or unhappy if I laugh

then the gentleman who talks to me might have cracked a joke if I don't laugh

the partner might be boring or partner might be asking for some serious issue

to be considered and then I'm not laughing but with John Kerry for example

we laughed a lot he had he has I hope still very good humor and we enjoyed our

private relations as much as we concentrated on our business on Syria

and elsewhere

all right that's where we'll start where did you get that laughs my laughs is

something that I have had since I was the tiniest child there was a time when

my brother and sister would not go see a movie with me because it was too damn

embarrassing so anyway it's there and and do you ever deploy it intentionally

or is it only unintentionally Vitt or not it it's very frequent I would make

like a great Ed McMahon I could be somebody a sidekick you know sit there

on the sofa and just laugh at all their jokes and it would be very genuine I

I've turned out to be easily amused that's good

so as number one on the list we're talking to Steve Case yesterday and he

had been number one and a couple of years later he was not on the list well

if you're making me really nervous no no no don't be nervous just tell me what

could happen that would do that to you and Amazon and how do you prevent that

do you worry it could all come unraveled well I kind

of have this and this experience kind of already happened to me because you put

me on the cover of Time magazine's Person of the Year in 1999 and about a

year later the internet bubble burst I think Amazon stock went from 113

dollars or shared a 6 or something like that so these happen when good thing for

companies is you need to be if you new and robust

his privacy looked at differently in the vet in Silicon Valley than in the rest

of know Silicon Valley's not monolithic we've always had a very different view

of privacy than some of our colleagues in the valley we take privacy extremely

seriously as an example we worry a lot about location in phones and we worry

that some you know 14-year old is going to get stalked and something terrible is

gonna happen because of our phone and so as an example before any app can get

location data we don't make it a rule that they have to put up a panel and ask

because they might not follow that rule they call our location services and we

put up the panel saying this app wants to use your location data is that okay

with you

as we sit here you know some of the families of the victims in San

Bernardino have now come out in support of the judge's order that Apple helped

the FBI unlock that iPhone one family reportedly saying were angry and

confused as to why Apple is refusing to do this what would you say to those

families tonight David they have our deepest sympathy what they've been

through no one should have to go through Apple has cooperated with the FBI fully

in this case they came to us and asked us for all the information we had on

this phone and we gave everything that we had we went further than that and

volunteered engineers to help them and gave them numerous suggestions about how

they might learn more about this particular case but this case is not

about my phone this case is about the future what what is at stake here is can

the government compel Apple to write software that we believe would make

hundreds of millions of customers vulnerable around the world including

the US and also trample civil liberties that are at the basic foundation of what

this country was made on

the poorest half of the world's population own about as much as the 85

richest people in the world including you of course does that make you feel

uncomfortable well we what makes me uncomfortable is

that children die that people don't get a good education they don't get enough

nutrition and that's what I've devoted my life to working on and so all of that

money that's in my hands is actually going against those problems but you

don't deny the gap between rich and poor seems to have got worse no the the gap

between rich and poor is not not gotten worse thank goodness less children are

dying people are living longer people are more literate if you if

you're if you go back far enough everybody was poor and you know so if

you if you just want everybody to be the same two hundred years ago three hundred

years ago and life was very short a third of all children died before the

age of five that was an age of strong equality do you think this enough is

being spent on international aid I'd like to see that increased particularly

the programs where you're buying malaria bed nets and you're preventing deaths

there you're buying vitamin A you're buying AIDS drugs you're inventing new

seeds that are more productive getting those out educating farmers how to use

those things we've seen phenomenal benefits in the aid programs that were

partnered in

that's why I'm trying to do something about it by stimulating the export

vesting more better education system that verifies affected you again um you

know people who lost their yes their home okay well I've been governor of a

small state for twelve years I'll tell you how it's affected me every year

Congress and the President signed laws that makes us make us do more things it

gives us less money to do it with I see people in my state middle class people

their taxes have gone up in Washington and their services have gone down while

the wealthy have gotten tax cuts I have seen what's happened in this last four

years when in my state when people lose their jobs there's a good chance I'll

know them by their names when a factory closes I know the people who ran it when

the businesses go bankrupt I know them and I've been out here for thirteen

months meeting in meetings just like this ever since October with people like

you all over America people that have lost their jobs lost their livelihood

lost their health insurance what I want you to understand is the national debt

is not the only cause of that it is because America has not invested in its

people it is because we have not grown is because we've had 12 years of

trickle-down economics we've gone from 1st to 12th in the world

and wages we've had for years where we produced no private-sector jobs most

people are working harder for less money than they were making 10 years ago it is

because we are in the grip of a failed economic theory and this decision you're

about to make better be about what kind of economic theory you want not just

people saying I want to go fix it but what are we going to do but I think we

have to do is invest in American jobs American education control American

health care cost and bring the American people together again

we can no longer be silent about Pakistan's safe havens for terrorists

organizations the Taliban and other groups that pose a threat to the region

and beyond Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with our effort in

Afghanistan it has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and

terrorists he also said look we pay the country

billions and billions of dollars they have to do more Pakistan is hitting back

in this war of words one of the country's most prominent politicians is

the opposition leader in Ron Kahn I spoke with him a short time ago I began

by asking him for his reaction to Donald Trump's tough talk well haha it's

something every Pakistani feels hurt humiliated it's you know a country that

has that collaborated with the u.s. after 9/11 and by joining the u.s. in

the US war on terror we ended up losing something like 70,000 people dead over a

hundred billion dollars lost to the economy and the tribal areas which is

adjoining the Afghanistan were population of six million almost at one

point eighty percent were homeless IDPs so after all this suddenly to hear this

strange statement that Pakistan is responsible made a scapegoat for the

u.s. not succeeding in Afghanistan it is I I just have to say that it is deeply

painful for all of us

let me ask you about the the Pakistani army and the ISI because as you know

there is a great deal of criticism and the criticism basically takes the form

that says the Pakistani army was under your watch given about 10 billion

dollars so the Pakistan in general was given ten billion dollars and the

criticism goes you took it's barely said thank you and what what do we see ten

years later more Taliban ization al-qaeda is stronger Taliban is stronger

where did the money go people ask in Afghanistan United States

has spent 143 billion dollars I believe and you are talking on to Pakistan ten

billion for world all that we have suffered and that too I have to

explained to you what it is out of this ten billion dollars I have said when I

was I think in being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer fine Billy and half of it is a

reimbursement for the services provided by Pakistan it is not your money it is

our money so let me say it again half of it five billion dollars is our

money we provided services to you so you are repaying us so five billion gone

there now we are left with five billion dollars half of this five billion was

meant for military and the other half for social sector education has then all

that so half of it which was for military was for I mean it is pittance

to maintain the helicopters the Air Force the ammunition that is being used

to fight all these people so let's close this chapter of 10 billion dollars I

think it is it was pittance me I say if at all more needs should be given to

punish but why is it not been successful let's just take what the hell the end

result is you have the Swat Valley overrun by Taliban no yes indeed it is

not successful we must first of all we should not imagine that it will be

successful in few days or months or years we have to continue it's a serious

issue the problem is not only here all that we are talking is of Swat and they

send that and why is it not succeeding because of

Afghanistan in Afghanistan more than 50% of Afghanistan is under Taliban control

why is you US forces and coalition forces not if you succeed in Afghanistan
