Waching daily Jul 3 2018

Nothing stands out more in an engine compartment than the valve cover(s).

In English we call it a Valve Cover but Japanese might say "Head Cover."

This thing was even dirtier and nastier than it is is right now.

I've already degreased it to some degree...

and it still looks pretty bad...

I've been thinking what I want to do with this and have decided to try to polish it myself.

Then if I make the Nissan OHC letters the same orange like the car....

That's my plan right now but I've never really polished anything like this before...

but I wanted to give it a try...

I started on a small area right here a little bit ago...

I am starting this polishing process with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper.

The 400 will get off the heavy grime and dirt.

Then we will gradually move to smoother grit sandpaper to finish it up....

Last step will be using some metal polish and hopefully by then it is shining bright!!

Hopefully with this DIY, I can transform this old ugly valve cover into something really sweet looking.

I have just finished with the 400 grit sandpaper and it is already looking better.

It's finally starting to look like aluminum again.

I haven't done this side yet...

you can see the difference already.

This is not a fast process... It takes a lot of time.

It's also important to only sand in one direction...

Sanding in different directions may leave weird sanding marks on the valve cover.

Sanding in one direction will give it a much more clean and uniform finish.

It is cleaning up little by little but this work does take some time for sure!!!

Expect to spend a lot of time if you do this all by hand...

I brought out my trusty nylon/fiberglass wheel...

It's softer than a wire wheel and it seems to be helping move the process along faster.

I just finished this section...

I'm going to use this wheel for the remainder of the heavy work and then finish it off by hand.

It's really getting better and better...

Big difference from when we started...

But I can't stop here!! I gotta keep going!

I've been on this project for at least an hour now and it still has a long way to go!

To show you how far it's come so far, compare the top to the back side...

An hour ago it was actually this bad!

It's really improving!

But I want it to bling, so I still got a lot of work to do!

Time to continue...

Wow....

The wheel really helped me get it to this point...

It's finally starting to shine...

Pretty good so far.... now I'm going to go back to sanding by hand.

Starting with the 400 grit paper...

After the 400 will be 800 grit sanding.

Finally I plan to use 1200 or 1500 grit to finish it off.

I did the 400 and just finished the 800 grit sanding....

Step by step, slowly it is really starting to shine!

It finally looks like an aluminum valve cover...

The shine and the bling is finally coming out!!

I am not using any special tools for this DIY job...

Everything I'm using is stuff I have laying around the garage.

I don't have expensive tools.... it's all just common stuff...

That means that anyone can do this project...

"I don't have the right tools... my tools are junk..."

Those excuses won't work on a DIY project like this.

I've had this cheap drill since I've been a kid!!!

This wheel is also a really cheap Chinese Harbor Freight item.

Everything I have here is just normal basic tools.

That means you too can do this type of DIY no problem!!!

I'm moving on to the 1500 grit paper now...

About another hour has gone by and this is what it looks like...

Before doing the 1500, I did the 800 sanding dry again...

Then I did 800 sanding wet...

using water and...

the 800 grit sandpaper helped get even more shine.

Now I'm going to try this Blue Magic Metal Polish.

I'll use a microfiber towel to apply it.

Then I used this buffing pad on a polisher to work it in...

The polishing pad helps work the metal polish in...

This area is pretty much done with this step...

Let's continue....

Wow!! It's looking great but got a little more to do...

Now I'm going to go back to the 1500 sandpaper and do a wet sand.

Then I will use some compound and then polish it to a perfect finish...

After 3-4 hours of hard work, the result is pretty good!!

I am really happy with the result...

Polishing work may be done but still gotta paint the letters....

I'm thinking about using the car color orange to accent Nissan OHC letters and these accent lines.

I think orange coloring will really make this thing stand out!!!

But how and when I will do that, I'm not quite sure yet...

Maybe hand paint it, or... hmmm....

But for today, spending about $20 in polish and sand paper....

and about 3-4 hours of time....

using sand paper, polish and a cheap wheel...

I was able to take a nasty old looking original valve cover and transform it into something nice!!

This is the first time I've tried this DIY.

I am quite proud of the work I have done!!

Exploring the Homestead #3 Berries Everywhere - Duration: 24:06.

Hey guys welcome back to another episode of exploring the homestead

it's a sunshiny day at the moment but we are going between intermittent clouds

and a little bit of a breeze so we're gonna fight the breeze a little bit the

last few videos have been that way and you've noticed and I've noticed and it

bothers me anyway we'll do what we can but I think today my goal is berries I

want to go around and see what berries are do or you know are coming along and

we'll take a look at them just check on things with me how does that sound

while the elderberry are everywhere here now I just call them wild elderberry I

know that there are a few different varieties of wild elderberry and I've

identified them once and I at this very moment don't remember which ones they

are this is one that I'm really excited about and it's growing everywhere this

particular variety is red huckleberry but there are huckleberries all over and

some wild blueberries this particular bush has a lot on him I'm amazed at how

many ripe ones are here last year when I was watching him it seemed like they

were on all year they just kept flowering and ripening and I'm doubting

myself this year that I actually saw that I know that I saw the berries

linger even into the winter but I don't know if they ripen during that whole

time mmm they're really good took they're kind of sour right now so

I'm not sure that they were all the way right but they taste amazing when we

first moved in I was afraid to eat them I grew up knowing that red was a sign of

danger I don't know if it's actually true and white berries so we always

cautious about any red or white berry as a child that that's what my parents had

always told me my aunts and uncles too and it's not it's not really true we eat

a lot of red fruit but I think it was a good way to keep us safe from what was

actually poisonous in the area of course found out that those red huckleberries

are in fact red huckleberry and I'm glad that I figured it out so yummy so tasty

we'll have to there are most small guys too so it'll take a lot to make anything

out of it will kind of have to wander all over to pick enough but you know

judging by that Bush I better get on it those look really ripe and ready to go

the flowers are out and happy

I feel like I live in a very beautiful place it's just gorgeous here that's

nice but it's pretty all year round

now there's a lot of foliage behind me but most of this is thimble berry and

some of it is salmon berry and then in the back there's Himalayan blackberry

now these are all growing natural here there Oh we'd actually but I would like

a berry weed that doesn't bother me one bit

the young cymbal bay leaf actually makes a really good tea and I collected a

bunch a layer this year when they first started emerging in the spring and they

taste really cool they've got a really unique flavor now of course I'm not used

to like eating them and swallowing the knife I'm thinking it doesn't fit right

to me I don't really like it but the flavor is amazing and the tea is really

good it's a really good stomach calming tea and it's just a wonderful flavor

here's a few ripe salmonberry this one's just a little bit past ripe you have to

taste them carefully when they're a little past right things get moldy

around here really fast a lot of molds and mildews and slimes and stuff that

grow perfect conditions for growing all of that the salmonberry

are out full flush right now this is their happy time

here's another batch there they're all just getting a little bit pest right

they they look really pretty but they're very bland when it comes to flavor every

once in a while you get one that's just amazing but if any of you have eaten a

lot of berries you'll know raspberries are really Wow they've got a lot of

flavor a lot of sweetness to them a good amount of kick blackberries are working

their way down the scale these are below blackberries so they taste good

especially after a long winter of no fresh fruit there that first berries

that really plump and juicy around here and they're yummy yummy

Oh guys we are lucky this is the first symbol berry that is ripe I didn't

expect to see a ripe one yet looking out across here and there are a few that

seem to be ripe or close these ones are going to be ripe in the next few days

you always have to check thimble berries closely because the bugs find them

really fast hmm thimble berries are really quite intriguing to me I'm

finding other white ripe ones they have they have an amazing flavor they are

really close to raspberry and flavor

very very good maybe leaning a little bit to it towards the cherry I don't

think that's accurate they have a lot of seeds the seeds are kind of shaped like

a strawberry seed checking for bugs again and they crunch a lot so it's kind

of a seedy experience but the flavor is so good see if I can pick this and hold

the camera at the same time oops yeah that was a perfect example

there

they're not very plump and there's not necessarily a lot of flesh but the flesh

that is there is very just very rich in flavor and you can see the seeds

definitely a CD CD berry man I was surprised to find one and there are a

lot there are a lot of loft jackpot mmm I was reading in a book that the native

of this area the native people indigenous people of this area we used

to pick these and dry them and then carry them in their pouch it was some of

the first really good vitamin C and other vitamins that would come this time

of year I really enjoy walking down this hill you can see that I'm just buried in

these native bears the thimble berry are actually really hard to pick and and

preserve that's why they're usually a trail side snack it would be really

difficult to get them in any high quality or quantity processed and in

really any way so they just get to be eaten and enjoyed and loved I really

left those they're really really good I need to show you these salmon berries as

well salmon berries can be that orange color but they can also be a very deep

red there they're really beautiful and they're

deceptive because they look like they should be

extremely flavorful like a raspberry and they're relatively bland they're not

extremely sour they're not extremely sweet

they're just mildly bland so they're really good though and their

own sense just like I said I they were a happy thing to see at the beginning of

of the season lots and lots of berry bushes

I found something else that I wasn't expecting to find and just picking it

tells me that it's not quite right oh

but it is just just a little on the sour side these are more exciting than the

thimble berry these there are many different varieties of blackberries but

these are the small natives and they are the sweetest blackberry that grow on our

property that I've found yet they just grow a little tiny these ones aren't the

happiest because they're off of a little plant but they just have such rich

flavor they're so good

that one was a good one oh it's been a long time since I've had these

you're gonna have to bring Audrey and the kids up here and have some there

aren't a lot yet and they come in a really short season wonder if I can get

a better picture of a plant that plant I was picking off of a small and it's

probably feeling a little stressed because we've had a lot less rain all of

a sudden a few hot days so it probably put a lot of energy into making those

fruit but we need to bring the kids up here in Audrey up here and share some of

the hosts yummy yummy fruit all right I found some of the plants so behind me

here are a mix of the those native blackberries and other things and these

plants are in the shade a little bit so they've they've had a lot more vigor I

don't really see any fruit or any signs of fruit on these particular vines Oh

there's actually some fruiting going on there now are am i 100% sure that this

is the same variety of blackberry no just put my hand here for size

comparison the vines are really small so are the leaves the oh man the thorns are

still quite sharp and they still get you but nothing like the Himalayan

blackberry but what I do know even though I'm not absolutely sure that the

variety I just ate is the exact same as this other small variety they are both

small varieties and they both taste fantastic

get out of the way for the wind here here's a big gust of wind hopefully it

doesn't sound too bad over the microphone hi there there went ivy

chasing it chasing the wind wrong direction I love being outside so all

these different berries that I'm finding blackberry huckleberry salmon berry

thimble berry and many that I am yet to find you know those are the reasons why

I'm having a really difficult time or part of the reason why I'm having a

different difficult time just renting a big bulldozer and clearing a big swath

of land I really want to get to know everything for a few cycles you know

before I just doze everything down

they're all over this tree this is a good year for huckleberry

they're so good I wonder if they'll be here this weekend and I can make some

gems and jelly so I I feel like to connect with the ground and preserve

what's here I I need to tread gently and softly sure I could just plow out a big

section and plant some crop that everybody likes I don't know goji

berries and and try to make a lot of money off of it but it's not my style

and there's a little bit of give and take and I'm going to have to do some of

that anyway but I'm going to do it as slowly as possible maybe I can cook up a

few batches of the huckleberry the red huckleberry and somebody out there will

buy some and I can make a little money that way

make ends meet

move here's a good spot here's a good spot right over here so what we have

behind me are what I've been introduced to as Himalayan black berry now this is

where things get a little fuzzy and people that actually know will correct

me I see two different varieties of blackberry leaf two different leaf

styles which tells me that it's two different varieties and at first I was

just going off the cane I am wrong to assume one over the other so this is the

one variety right now it's in bloom and there is a ton of be food all over this

tree grow growing up the sides of these trees here they have a very large cane

this camera's not get doing it justice and Plus this cane isn't very thick at

this point and then the the thorns are just gigantic the leaves can grow quite

large now this is the other variety the cane as you can see is similar though it

seems to turn a little more red but it can grow a tremendous amount every day

just like the other one and though the pattern or the leaf is very different so

which ones which I'm still learning

well whoops my little action cam ran out of memory because some guy forgot to

clear the memory before we started the video so I guess I get a finish with my

big camera and I'll see if I can finish quickly because I can't hold it out away

from you for very long because it's too heavy

so doesn't work for me during the main BlackBerry crop my family and I often

just take a hike down the road and pick blackberries

it's almost every other day thing it's it's really kind of a fun thing -

blackberries are really common in this area there are weed Himalayan one pink

or a noxious weed but I have to double-check that and it it's actually

really fun to use it this year we're planning on preserving a lot of

blackberries and it'll be a good good thing we're going to really build up our

food storage we need it we've really want to eat our own food now as much as

possible all right speaking of berries here's a fun sign I saw a really funny

joke the other day I heard a funny joke whatever I read it that's why I saw it

they were saying that in bear country you can wear bells and carry pepper

spray just in case there's an aggressive fare blackberries bears are less

aggressive than the grizzly bears and the way you can tell the scat apart is

that black bears have scat that have a lot of seeds in it like berry seeds and

so on and the grizzly bear scat smells of pepper spray and has little bells on

it or in it so I always thought that was funny we've got a few black bear that

live around here but we've never seen them ivy is noisy enough that they don't

ever come around they don't care to come close by and the part of me that loves

nature is sad I want to see the black bear and it's really easy for them to

hide the part of me who's a dad with little children I'm glad that I have Ivy

around so more of the BlackBerry here a lot of

yummy food for the bees coming anytime

example of how these blackberries can climb that Blackberry goes clear up the

tree not clear to the very very top of the tree but that's a good 15 to 20 feet

again it's the blackberry that I called the Himalayan blackberry and they are

very impressive to me very very impressive I just got the text from

Audrey calling me home for dinner so it's time to go eat some lunch with the

kids and Audrey and work on ending this video if anybody's curious we're having

corn dogs and tater tots yes I have two young children so sometimes mom and dad

get to lose the dice roll on on what we get for dinner corn dogs aren't too bad

right anyway guys I'll wrap up this video thanks for watching another

exploring the homestead and getting a taste of the berries that we have

growing around here really enjoy living here can you tell really guys thanks for

watching and thanks for following me and thanks for taking this journey with me

on simple ground

Story of my Tape Recorder! Lyrec TR53 (HoboRec Bull Sessions #55) - Duration: 8:03.

-That's actually nice

- You've got a new pinch roller, which made it better

- It's just this thing

- So you check the phase between channel one and channel twenty four?

- Yeah

- That's the ultimate test

- You can also check between channel two or three against channel twenty two

- As I said, one and twenty four isn't always the most stable channels

- Do you get a lot of these jobs, to repair for others?

- I do, or...

- To a certain extent. I want to have it as...

...fun and enjoyable leisure time, not like a job.

- I try to say no, but it's very hard to say no.

- It can also be something that happened when you soldered...

... the XLR connectors

- I don't know but we can check that first.

- If I caused a short circuit or something?

- Yeah, or if a solder joint to the transformer came loose

- I don't know. We will see.

- It's a bit...

... it's very...

... unorganised in the cabinets with all the soldering.

- It's a bit difficult.

- The machines deserves to be able to work.

- The machines are so good that they can make great sound many years more.

- There's obviously not that many others working on these machines anymore

- As long as I can, I'm glad to help.

- It's impressive that machines that are more than forty years old...

... still can be used and have the same performance they originally had.

- They used to build things with another approach back then.

- That it was supposed to work.

- They built as good as they could, and not ...

... just good enough as some do today.

- Often they went over the top, and almost built it too good and durable.

- Also very expesive.

- Speaking of that, how come Lyrec quit as a company?

- First and formost...

... it was the digital world that took over.

- That's the main reason.

- Most of the others.. Lyrec was one of the last to quit.

- Well they made the Frida machine, that was one of the last analog machines of all.

- Every one else already stopped making analog machines.

- But our owner said...

... he noticed that everyone else quit. So he thought he had the whole market.

- But there was no market.

- Everything started with making cutting heads.

- What are they called?

- The producers of cutting heads in Germany?

- Was it Neumann? No, I don't know.

- They don't exist now.

- There was an engineer at the Danish radio that came up with a cutting head better than the others.

- That was the start of Lyrec.

- That's why it's called Ly - Recording

- That was right after the second world war.

- The man who invented the cutting head couldn't...

... he couldn't produce because he was government employee.

- So he wasn't allowed the have another operation. That's why they had to create Lyrec to make it.

- That was the start.

- Then there were a lot of cutting machines through the years.

- And all kinds of tape recorders.

- To take satellite images...

... counting of cars...

...undulations in the ocean.

- Everything imaginable.

- And of course we made audio machines

- Then also tape decks.

- A lot of them. Incredible amount.

- But I think... I was here four years ago right?

- I think we talked about... How many multi track recorders were produced?

- We produced about 300 of this one

- Of this model? - Yes, at least 300.

- And then about 100 of the model after this one.

- I usually say that if you put all the machines of this model on top of each other...

... it will be taller than the Eiffel tower.

- Just to give an impression.

- But there was only a set amount.

- There were always some main products in Lyrec's life that brought in the money to survive.

- The multi track machines was limited.

- It was at the end of the 70's and the beginning of the 80's

- How much did a machine like this cost when it was made originally.

- Well, the most expensive...

... the last models, like this one was about 270.000 danish crowns.

- They were up on about 330.000 on one point.

- That was an investment.

- The studios said that they earned back that money with the machine.

- I don't think that's the case today, I don't know.

"Practice is when everything works, but no one knows why."

"In this room theory and practice are combined."

(upbeat music)

- A cork has a lot of clues in it.

Forgive me, because I have to smell the cork.

It reveals what you can expect in this bottle of wine,

and so you're gonna pour it.

You pour it very lightly center of the glass

so you have a maximum amount of bubbles or splashing.

You get this direct relationship of uniformity of oxygen

where white wines do not like oxygen,

but red wines, they crave it.

The wine wants you to participate with it.

And what does that do?

When you receive it, allow it to crawl, mingle, flow.

Don't try to slurp it.

The wine will show you.

The wine will tell you where it wants to go on your palate

and position itself in the palate.

And that's a great bottle of wine.

I'm 27, Poly and Trans. Welcome to My Diary - Duration: 9:13.

- All right, still getting used to this hair color.

Hey guys, my name is Kathryn.

I am 27 years old, I live in Los Angeles, California.

I am polyamorous, I am a transgender woman,

and I am kinky, in the BDSM scene, and that is Kathryn.

I wanted to make like a little bit

of an introductory video for this channel.

This channel, for me, is gonna be all about personal growth.

Some of you guys may know me from my main channel,

Kat Blaque, where I talk about social issues

and I make very like accessible, educational videos

about some very polarizing topics.

But this channel is going to be about my life.

I'm not gonna censor myself in this channel, right?

A big issue that I've had over the past couple of years

is that I was consistently feeling the need and the desire

to censor myself, to quiet myself down,

to pretend I wasn't this way,

all for the satisfaction of other people.

Right?

I am somebody who is fucking human.

I'm gonna say things that are problematic.

I'm gonna say things that upset you.

I'm gonna say things that offend you.

And it's just gonna have to be tough titty Miss Kitty.

Okay, I'm sorry.

I really miss sort of having this sort of YouTube channel.

YouTube for me now is a business, but it hasn't always been.

I started my YouTube channel when I was 15 years old,

and I really just needed a place

to sort of put my thoughts out there.

I just needed sort of a platform

to sort of just talk about what was going on in my day,

and how I was, and different things

that I was learning in life.

And that's how I started, those are my roots.

And since then, I have moved on to do something

way different with YouTube.

And I just really missed having

this sort of relationship with my YouTube channel.

So, this channel is gonna be all about me.

All about my life, my experiences.

I've gone through a lot of pretty drastic

changes in the past couple of months.

I am out of a relationship,

I was in a relationship for five years.

And a lot of you guys knew him.

And a lot of you guys really liked him,

but that was a thing that came to an end on my terms.

And honestly, it was for the best.

But it's put me in this interesting place in life

because now I'm single and I'm dating again,

and one of the biggest realizations I've had

towards the end of my relationship

was that I was polyamorous.

And so, I thought it would be a really good idea

to sort of have a channel where I'm talking about my life

as a slightly more mature transgender person.

But then also as a person who is poly

and in the BDSM community.

And somebody who is really still

trying to figure it all out.

I really thought for awhile that I had it all figured out.

You know, like I really felt like I had figured out

everything I needed to figure out.

I have no more growth to go.

I know every thing, da da da da da.

And then, you know, I have this big life change of,

you know, breaking up with my ex.

And it just made me realize that I had

so many things to still figure out.

And so I'm in this weird place in life

where I'm accepting that I don't know everything,

and I'm accepting that maybe I am better off

than I used to be, but I still have a lot of growing to do.

One of the biggest things about me and dating right now

thatès so different is that I'm a vastly different person

at the age of 21 than I am at the age of 27.

When I was a 21 year old trans girl,

I had gone through so much abuse and harassment,

and just a lot of really scary,

manipulative things from men.

And I was not very open to love or relationships.

Men had jaded me so much that I had become very bitter.

And I was dating in a very bitter space.

I was so used to men using me and doing things

that I didn't want them to do to me

that all I wanted more than anything

was to be able to get them before they got me.

Then I fell in love, and then

I ended up getting into a relationship.

And through that relationship and through that time,

I ended up gaining a lot of confidence.

And so now, I'm in this interesting place where

I'm single again, and I'm dating,

and I'm dealing with some of the old issues

that I used to deal with when I was single.

But they're very, very different,

because I'm no longer that little,

insecure transgendered girl.

And so, for me, I really want to share this portion

of life that I'm in right now.

Because I know there are so many people out there

who are still going through a lot of the growing pains,

they're sill going through a lot of the figuring out,

and they're still going through a lot of,

you know, the crappy things you deal with

when you're still trying to, you know,

figure out your place in the world.

And I don't have it all figured out.

But I'm definitely in a place

that's different than where I used to be.

My confidence is so different.

Men are so different.

Because I've started to sort of respect myself

in a way that I didn't before.

But also, the interesting thing about me

and life right now too is that I'm sort of grappling

with sort of reclaiming my sexuality,

post-everything I've been through.

I'm someone who's experienced sexual violence,

and that has made me have a very

awkward relationship with sex.

Sex for me, at one point in my life,

was a tool that I used to get what I needed.

Then it was something that I did

out of a feeling of obligation.

And with my ex, my ex was the first person

who I had sex with out of love.

Right?

But I've always had a very uncomfortable

relationship with sex, and what sex has meant to me

in terms of how I present myself.

I deal with the intersections of being

a black woman, a transgendered woman, and a woman.

Right?

And so there are so many things about all of the identities

that I embody that are hypersexualized, right?

I am not supposed to really have as much

claim over my sexuality or my body, because if I do,

that means I'm every stereotype in the book.

And so one of the things that I've been sort of dealing with

is sort of trying to figure out how I can

get to a point where my sexuality is my own.

Where my sexuality is something that I'm doing

for pleasure, and my own happiness,

and not in this sort of negative

mindset that I used to have.

I think for a really long time,

I was really concerned with seeming like a sexual person.

I've been through a lot of abuse.

I've been used sexually.

I've had a lot of sort of experiences that have made it,

the sex not seem like a thing that I should

openly express that I'm even into, right.

In my last relationship, I became very, very, very,

very, very, very, very conservative,

and that was kind of a reflection

of where he was and what his perspective was.

More than that, also, because I was on YouTube,

and because I was openly talking

about my life and everything like that,

I was really nervous about how me seeming

like a sexual person would come off to people.

Right?

I was really, really concerned with how my image

would negatively affect my ex, right?

I was living in a way where I was sort of monitoring myself

and censoring myself because I was so afraid

of what, who I was and what I was doing,

and how that would, I was so afraid of how

that would impact my partner.

Right?

But now I don't really have that anymore.

And one of the big things that I'm dealing with

is sort of learning to be more honest.

Learning to be more open.

Learning to be somebody who actually is able to fully say,

hey, guess what, I'm a kinky person,

but that doesn't mean I want to sleep with everyone.

Hey, guess what, I have these interests and these things,

that, you know, are not the standard.

But at the same time, this doesn't mean

that I am a slut, right?

So for me, a big part of this has been

me sort of fostering sex positivity for myself.

Body positivity for myself.

Doing things in a way where I'm really keeping in mind

that I don't have to quiet down who I am.

Because of what other people may

potentially think or feel about me.

Right?

And so, this has all just sort of been

a very interesting journey for me,

these past couple of months have been a very,

very interesting journey with me.

And I have so much to talk about, guys.

I have so much to talk about.

Being polyamorous, let me tell you.

(laughs)

Poly life is so

rewarding, but at the same time aggravating.

Right?

You, on one hand, you are being very honest.

You are being very open.

You are communicating all of the things

that you want and desire and need,

et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

But at the same time, you're also dealing

with other people's relationships.

You're also dealing with other people's perspectives,

and how they feel about you dating

their partner, and things like that.

And that's a whole 'nother conversation.

I've had so many experiences,

and I can't wait to share them with you guys.

This channel is going to be a lot of personal reflection,

it's gonna be a lot of story time videos.

I have a lot of stories to tell.

So I really hope that you guys will stick around

and keep watching this channel.

So please subscribe if you guys want to keep watching.

And want to hear all about my life

as a transgendered polyamorous woman living in Los Angeles,

who's recently single and 27 years old.

All right, I will talk to you guys later in the next video.

Hope you guys will always remember and never forget

that you are beautiful and you are loved.

Bye!

TOKYO: Earth's Model MEGACITY - Duration: 11:56.

The most successful metropolis in the history of the world has 39 million residents, 50%

more people than any other urban area.

It is the safest big city on the planet, and with a two trillion dollar GDP, its economy

is larger than all but eight entire countries.

This is Tokyo, Earth's model megacity.

Our story begins 561 years ago when a samurai warrior built a castle on the shore of a fishing

village called Edo.

Its rich soil was ideal for growing rice and attracted farmers from far and wide.

In 1600, the great commander Tokugawa Ieyasu won the Battle of Sekigahara, a pivotal moment

in history that secured Edo's status as the most important place in Japan.

Unfortunately, the buildings of the expanding city were made of wood and paper, a dangerous

combination to confront the warm winds of summer.

Legend has it that on one particularly dry afternoon in 1657, a priest made the deadly

mistake of burning an unlucky kimono.

The fire flared up, ignited his temple, and engulfed 70% of the city.

100,000 people lost their lives.

Despite the disaster, by the middle of the 19th century Edo's population was in the

millions.

That's when the military shogunate system that had ruled for almost 700 years ended.

A new government led by a young emperor finally made Edo the official capital of Japan, renamed

it Tokyo, and made the castle his imperial palace.

To celebrate his arrival, everyone toasted with rounds of sake on the house.

Around this time Japan opened up to foreign trade and influence, with Tokyo driving the

industrial revolution that was modernizing the country.

But rapid development had a cost: a strained natural environment.

Forests were razed, pollutants choked the air, and Tokyo's once pristine waterways

grew increasingly toxic.

It was time for a more conscientious approach.

The principle of Satoyama was born, promoting sustainable coexistence with nature, especially

in the rice paddy fields covering Japan's sprawling foothills.

Today, a century of conservation has resulted in parks covering 20% of the land in the Tokyo

metropolitan area.

But while the danger from pollution has been largely overcome, one natural phenomenon poses

an unavoidable threat: earthquakes.

In 1923, an 8.0 magnitude quake rocked Tokyo, devastating the geologically unstable eastern

wards of the city.

As firestorms engulfed whole neighborhoods, some took advantage of the chaos to target

political enemies and minority groups, like Koreans.

When the smoke finally cleared, 140,000 people had perished.

Just twenty-two years later, in 1944, Tokyo was hit again.

This time from above by allied air forces who waged a relentless nine month campaign

that lasted until Japan's surrender to end WWII following America's detonation of two

atomic weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

On the worst night of the onslaught, 279 Boeing B-29 Superfortress heavy bombers dropped more

than 1,600 tons of explosives on Eastern Tokyo.

It is regarded as the single most destructive bombing raid in human history, leaving more

than 100,000 dead and more than 1 million homeless.

It took generations for Tokyo to completely recover, but today - after more than seven

decades at peace - Tokyo is thriving.

Its dense metropolitan area now stretches an incredible 32 uninterrupted kilometers

all the way to Japan's second largest city, Yokohama.

While roads and highways are how many get around, the arteries that set Tokyo apart

from other megacities are its extensive rail lines.

After WWII, Japan didn't have access to the oil reserves an automobile-focused transport

system required, so the government wisely invested heavily in rail projects to connect

central Tokyo with surrounding towns and cities.

In October 1964, just in time for Tokyo to host the summer Olympics, Japan debuted the

world's first modern high-speed rail line to Osaka, the Tōkaidō Shinkansen, with trains

reaching speeds of 256 km/hr.

Today, Tokyo's urban rail network serves a world-leading 40 million passengers a day.

Compare that to America's car-dominated system where space for roads and parking can

take up to 60% of a city's available land.

Of course, Tokyo has innovative ways of storing the cars that it does have, and its bikes.

Congestion has also been eased by an $11 billion megaproject.

The Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line is one-thirds bridge, two-thirds tunnel.

It has turned what was a 90-minute drive through downtown and around the shore of the bay,

into a 15-minute sprint through it instead.

The project took 30 years to design and complete because it has to withstand the ever-present

danger of earthquakes.

That's also why buildings in Tokyo cost an extra 50 percent to construct and why they

tend to be shorter than the skyscrapers in other economic capitals, two factors that

drive up real estate prices and add to urban sprawl.

From above, Tokyo seems like an unnavigable maze.

But on the ground, life for many is lived locally within their own neighborhoods.

Shops and businesses to obtain day-to-day essentials can usually be reached within a

short walk, including many of the world's greatest sushi restaurants.

Japan runs on seafood.

Along Tokyo's harbor lies Tsukiji, the largest fish market on Earth.

Everyday, more than 50,000 people come to buy and sell 400 different types of seafood.

Among the buyers are the chefs of the 227 restaurants with at least one Michelin star,

making Tokyo the city with the most of these prestigious marks of excellence.

In fact, when President Obama visited Tokyo, he ate handcrafted sushi prepared by the great

Jiro himself.

He also played football with a humanoid robot, just one example of how Japan is leading the

global transition to automation.

As a technology superpower, Tokyo is home to the most non-state-owned Fortune 500 companies

of any city in the world and - along with New York and London - is considered one of

three command centers of the global economy.

All of these factors make Tokyo the most advanced major city, and it's getting ready to put

on a show for the entire world.

In the summer of 2020 it will host the Olympic Games.

This is motivating Tokyo's metropolitan government to use its massive annual budget,

which is larger than the country of Saudi Arabia, to fast-track its progress.

Among the achievements that are already complete, or that officials are hoping to showcase to

the world, include:

A program to have functioning robots installed throughout the city to assist people regardless

of age, nationality, or disability.

The 920,000 expected daily visitors during the Olympics could ask nearby robots to help

with language translation, directions, or transportation.

Robots are just one example of how hosting the games could benefit Tokyo's citizens

long after the closing ceremony.

With an aging population projected to peak in 2020, and then decline, Tokyo is experiencing

a graying of its society on a scale that no city has experienced before.

And because there will be fewer workers paying taxes, and more elderly living on government

pensions requiring care, the government is heavily encouraging volunteerism.

This shouldn't be too hard for the citizens of Tokyo, some of the most considerate people

on Earth.

They routinely rank first in helpfulness, ease of local public transportation, and cleanliness

of streets.

Amid the turmoil following the March 2011 earthquake, visitors praised Tokyoites for

their orderliness.

This is part of Gaman, the Japanese spirit of self-control--a dedication to the greater

good through self-discipline.

Of course, well planned and maintained infrastructure is the main reason why Tokyo works so well.

Recent and soon-to-be-completed projects include:

A bold, $350 million plan to jump-start a hydrogen-powered transportation system by

increasing the number of hydrogen stations from eight to 35, while putting 6,000 fuel

cell cars and 100 fuel cell buses on the road by 2020.

A network of fuel cell vehicles - which can double as mobile electricity generators - could

be a gamechanger in an emergency.

Just two of these buses can power an entire hospital for a day.

Other transportation upgrades include the three-ring expressway that's cut many trips

throughout the region in half;

Repairing and reinforcing bridges, tunnels, and roads using advanced laser scanning technology

and carbon fiber with the aim of detecting problematic infrastructure before it fails,

while extending its life up to 100 years;

Installing more solar heat-blocking pavement that's up to 8°C cooler than asphalt to

help solve Tokyo's heat island problem—a challenge faced by many other cities around

the world;

Transferring as many power lines underground as possible, widening sidewalks, doubling

the amount of dedicated bike lanes, and opening outdoor cafes in an initiative dubbed the

Tokyo Champs Elysees project.

The city is aggressively reducing CO2 emissions through the first urban cap and trade system

covering factories and commercial facilities, like office buildings.

To reduce the danger of heavy flooding from rainfall, massive underground chambers and

tunnels have been installed to regulate and divert waters from rivers, channels, and sewers

that have traditionally overflowed;

These measures go hand-in-hand with an integrated series of floodwall gates, rain gauges, and

river level monitoring cameras that are watched 24/7 by engineers at two command centers that

can each operate the entire system remotely in case either one of them fails.

With so much historical damage from fire, officials are pushing to replace old wooden

houses with fireproof ones, creating entire zones where residents wouldn't have to evacuate

during a nearby blaze, and ensuring that major routes are lined with fire and earthquake

proof buildings so emergency vehicles can move freely.

Amplifying the appeal of hosting the Olympics is the opportunity to share these advancements

with their guests, who are encouraged to implement these best practices in their own cities.

Tokyo already does this by hosting and teaching foreign first responders the most advanced

search and rescue techniques, sharing infrastructure best practices with officials visiting from

abroad, and helping engineers from Kuala Lumpur update their wastewater management system.

Tokyo is also a pioneer in land reclamation.

With mountains hemming its growth, adding land to the bay is an increasingly attractive

option, particularly if that land is made of trash.

The Sea Forest area is a former landfill that is being converted to parkland and will even

host Olympic events.

In the coming years, population growth and rising seas will force the entire world to

do more with less.

And while Tokyo isn't perfect, by using its resources wisely, planning for the future,

and sharing what it learns with the rest of the world, it should be a model for cities

of all sizes, everywhere.

mega-projects.

Until next time, I'm Bryce Plank.

Why Are Cats Afraid Of Cucumbers? | Dolan Life Mysteries - Duration: 10:26.

From whether you can breathe liquid oxygen to why cats are afraid of cucumbers, we answer

several of your strangest question about life.

- Hello, my name is Doopie and I'll be reading out the questions and answers.

- Hey, I'm Pringle and I'm here to be delicious.

- * - Do you get, Doopie?

I said I'm here to be delicious.

- Yeah.

I get it, Pringle.

10 - Ember Lightning If you filled a pool with liquid oxygen, would

you be able to breathe in it?

- Well you can breathe regular oxygen, so why not liquid oxygen?

It's easy, here I'll show you!

- * - Are you ok, Pringle?

- * - Yeah I'm fine!

Hey Doopie, watch out for the liquid oxygen!

- * - Uhhh - sorry about that.

Here let me help.

- * - Uuuuuuuuuuugh.

For Oxygen to become a liquid, it must be cooled to minus 183 degrees celsius.

If you were somehow able to fill a pool with liquid oxygen, attempting to breathe it in

would be incredibly dangerous and not just because of the low temperature.

Your body's natural heat would cause the liquid oxygen to boil and become a gas.

Which means if you breathed it in, you would probably explode.

9 - Arty Harty What would the world be like if religion never

existed?

- All churches would instead be monuments to anime, I'd even have my own harem of

waifus.

Everyone would be dedicated to spreading the good word of weeb!

- That almost sounds like a religion, I'm not sure about this…

- Doopie, come check out this monument!

- * - What do you think?

- * - IT'S GLORIOUS!

Sign me up to this cult!

I'll spread the word of weeb to all corners of the globe!

It's hard to imagine a world without religion as we humans have long tried to understand

the world around us and will often find belief in concepts or deities.

Before modern science, people would try to rationalise the world with what knowledge

they currently had, which led to religion shaping cultures, morals and laws.

If religion had never existed, it's possible that humanity might not have advanced, remaining

primal and tribalistic.

8 - Isaac meza Where would mankind be if the wheel were never

invented?

- I guess if the wheel had never been invented people would just adapt and use other shapes,

like triangles or maybe my favourite shape, the squircle.

- What the heck is a squircle?

- Look at my head, Doopie.

It's an almost perfect squircle!

Just imagine a world where the squircle replaced the wheel.

- *

Humanity, even at a primitive level, has the ability to create tools to aid them.

If the wheel was never invented, it's likely that somebody would eventually create it.

If not, imagine a world where wheels do not exist.

Transportation would be primitive, mills and grindstones would not exist and even some

forms of entertainment, like a roulette wheel would be absent.

It would be a pretty slow, hungry and boring world.

7 - Gabrielle Price How do cats purr?

- Cats sometimes eat things they shouldn't.

If you hear a cat purring, chances are it's swallowed a smart phone set to vibrate.

- * - Oh, one second everyone, I need to take

this.

- * - Hello?

- Pringle!

Leave that poor thing alone!

- * - Was it someone important?

- * - It was a crank call.

Like most bodily functions the action of purring begins in the cat's brain.

It sends a neural message to the laryngeal muscles that causes them to twitch.

The rate at which these muscles twitch is about 25 to 150 times per second.

This vibration then causes the cat's vocal cords to separate as the cat breathes, which

produces the sound we call purring.

6 - FNicholas Hubert Why do we get "morning breath"?

- Maybe you're a sleepwalker - no - a sleep eater!

You should retrace your steps and find out if you ate something bad to make your breath

stink.

I only eat good foods that are coloured yellow.

Speaking of which!

Doopie, would you like to try one of my smoothies?

- Sure, thanks Pringle!

- * - URGHH!

What is this!?

- * - Oh you know, just yellow foods.

Bananas, lemons, cheese, scrambled eggs, mustard, curry, nutritious maggots…

- I'm gonna go throw up.

- *

Bad morning breath is caused by a dry mouth and a lack of saliva.

Saliva is necessary to wash away food particles and bacteria that accumulate in your mouth.

Snoring or breathing through your mouth as you sleep will cause your mouth to become

dryer, increasing the likelihood that you will wake with a bad case of morning breath.

5 - BossMajor 345 How long would it take to successfully colonize

Mars?

- Not to be rude but why would you go there?

It's just filled with red rocks and Martians, and they're not the nicest people.

- * - You what mate?!

Come over 'ere and say that to our faces!

- Hey, we don't want any trouble!

- Yeah jog on!

Currently it's not known how long it would take to colonize Mars.

The current obstacle that experts are searching for a solution for is a reliable way to travel

to and from the planet with relative ease.

Right now the estimated travel time to Mars, when the planet is at its closest to Earth,

is about 260 days.

Once the issue of travelling to Mars is solved, colonization may begin.

4 - ACEnBEAKY How would humanity evolve if we only had one

gender?

- Do you need another gender to evolve?

Just do what I do!

- * - Oh hey!

- Hey, how're you doing?

- I - don't think I or any other human can do that.

- * - I don't think their race is going to live

very long.

- Yeah, it's really sad.

Since both men and women are required for reproduction, a world where only one of them

exists would not have much of a future.

For humanity to exist with only one gender, the human race would have to be biologically

different.

During early evolution we would have had to become similar to Clownfish or Flatworms which

have the ability to change their sex.

But then, would we still be able to call ourselves humans?

3 - AWESOME GAMING_YT Can you over boil an egg?

- If you boil an egg too little, it will be all runny and disgusting.

If you cook it just right, the chick will hatch!

But if you boil the egg for too long, you'll kill the poor little bird.

So be careful!

- No no, Pringle.

An egg has to be fertilized for a chick to hatch.

- What does fertilizer have to do with eggs?

- You'll find out when you're older.

Maybe in another two thousand years.

Yes it is possible to over boil an egg.

The ideal time to boil and egg is about 9-11 minutes.

Any longer than 13 minutes and a grey coating will form around the yolk, which itself will

become harder and develop a green colouration.

You will also find that the yolk now has a slight sulphuric taste, which is not very

enjoyable.

2 - Norma Garland Why are cats afraid of cucumbers

- * - In the wild, the ferocious cucumber is a

cat's natural enemy.

They hunt felines in order to pilfer the smart phones within their stomachs.

- Who was that?

- No idea, some lunatic.

One theory is that, to a cat, a cucumber looks a lot like a snake.

Snakes are a deadly predator in the wild and tend to be adept at sneaking up on their prey.

Cats are also afraid of things that are unknown to them and which could present a danger.

Reacting by quickly leaping away or preparing to fight is their natural response when confronted

by something dangerous.

1 - Some Random Guy Why do your ears pop when you yawn?

- I know why mine do.

It's because that's where I pop my corn!

- * - Oh!

Hold on one second!

- * - Keep going Pringle!

- Ok!

- * - Awww yeah.

Movie night tonight!

The popping sensation in your ears is caused by the pressure differences between the inside

and outside of the eardrum.

You sometimes experience popping when you yawn because the pressure in your ears is

being relieved by the opening of the Eustachian tube, which connects your ear to the back

of your nose and throat.

- * - Guys…

I'm glad you like me so much but…

I think I need a break…

- * - *

- Hold up!

There's got to be some more in there, we can make a fortune

off of this – SHAKE THE IDIOT!

- * - Hellbent!

Stop!

You're going to kill him!

- * - … SO BE IT!

- *

How To: Front Door TRIM Panel Removal - Mercedes Benz E Class C207 - Duration: 4:33.

Right now I'm going to replace this door panel trim piece on a Mercedes Benz E350

C207 Coupe, because this trim cracked and it came off right here.

As you can see this is not burl wood, but it is plastic.

First we undo three T15 Torx screws to remove this plate.

Next we use a plastic pry bar to pry off the speaker.

Take the speaker and drape it over the mirror.

Next we pry off the access panel here.

Inside here we want to pull the purple connector and the blue connector of the

Mercedes E350.

Now we gently pry off this plastic sort of metal piece right here

from the C207 coupe.

There's two screws T25 that are in there and another one is in here.

Both of these need to come out.

Then we pry off this little plastic plate right here

and another T25 screw is underneath that.

A little prying from the bottom of the door panel in case you mess up you won't see it.

And once you get a couple of them to pop the entire thing will start to come off with no problem.

We lift the door panel off.

The door handle is attached by a cable and you just push down to remove that cable.

Pull out on the cable to remove it from its holder.

This is what the bare door looks like.

And this is what the bare door panel looks like.

Next we use some nippers to cut off the plastic ends.

Then we use a screwdriver because we're going to use those metal pieces.

The trim comes right off and a new trim goes right back on.

Reusing those metal retainer clips.

We then grab a socket set then use it to push down.

Now we're working our way backwards.

We put the door handle cable back on. Snap it in.

We put the door trim back on. Be careful to fit it just right at the top.

Snap the snaps back in. Put our T25 screw back in. Cover plate back on.

Be careful with putting our metal pseudo plastic trim back on.

You got to get it to snap right in on the mercedes-benz e350 body style C-207.

Now we reconnect our cables to our door panel. Put our access panel back on.

Look how nice that is. Snap our speaker back in and finally put our metal plate on.

Look how sweet that new trim is, that new burl wood trim.

And there we go. A brand new trim piece on a Mercedes Benz C207 E350 coupe.

Total time took me about an hour and that included filming so that's not too bad.

This job probably only taking about a half an hour.

Part was expensive, I got it online for 200 dollars so that wasn't too bad either.

Sucks that it broke in the first place.
