Waching daily Oct 2 2018

As a child, I remember looking out the car window as my parents drove along

the Don Valley Parkway here in Toronto.

Suddenly, through the corner of my eye a splash of rainbow would appear on the side of a tunnel.

I've always loved how bright, colourful and unexpected it is.

This rainbow, known by locals as the "Rainbow Tunnel" has been a well-known and beloved

part of the Toronto landscape for more than four decades.

However, for many years, city authorities tried to have it permanently removed, only

to have it come back over and over again.

The tunnel was originally painted in 1972 by a Norwegian teenager called B.C. Johnson,

who was then a guerrilla mural-artist known as "The Caretaker of Dreams."

He painted it in honour of a friend of his who had died the year before.

He also said that he wanted to put smiles on people's faces, in a city where no one

really looked up or smiled very much.

So he tied some rope to the railway tracks above

and swung himself down to the side to paint.

Johnson assumed the train tracks were abandoned - except that they weren't.

So when a train whizzed by, it sliced the rope

smashing him to the ground and breaking his leg.

Thankfully, a group of students from the nearby Don Mills Middle School came by to help him

finish the painting.

However, shortly after it was painted, the city's parks department removed it

by painting it over with grey.

But Johnson was not ready to give up.

He would come back to re-paint the rainbow, this time with a ladder.

But of course, the city authorities would paint it over again.

Then Johnson would come back and repaint the rainbow again, and the city would remove it

again and again.

This back and forth went on for more than 40 times over the next few decades,

during which Johnson would be arrested 4 times.

In later years, hundreds of Toronto residents themselves would take up the cause of maintaining

and repainting the rainbow tunnel.

The tunnel straddles the valley's walking trails and is thus often also enjoyed by hikers,

cyclists, dog walkers, and many others.

And although the artist may not have originally intended the association - the 1970s and 1980s

were crucial decades of LGBT activism in Toronto and thus for many, the rainbow may have also

been a symbol of hope.

However, by the 2000s, the artwork had deteriorated significantly and was at risk of being permanently

weathered away, or removed by the city again.

But this time, something different happened.

In 2012, A local community organization called Mural Routes, a not-for-profit group that

develops and maintains public art, decided to fully restore the rainbow.

And for the first time ever in 40 years, they actually received approval and funding from

the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation Department.

The work was conducted by Artists Rob Matejka and Anthony DeLacruz, along with the help

of numerous volunteers.

Another rainbow was also added to the opposing side of the tunnel.

And youths from the local neighbourhood organization also revamped the inner side of the tunnel

with a beautiful coat of colourful local scenery.

BC Johnson is now a professional mural artist

who continues to brighten up Toronto's public spaces.

Of course, he's now commissioned by the property owners and no longer gets arrested

for doing so.

Mural routes continues to maintain the rainbow tunnel to this day.

The City of Toronto also has an official Street Art program where they support local not-for-profits

like Mural Routes, commission artists to uplift certain public areas in the city, as well as

help private property owners to commission artists themselves to beautify their property.

These types of programs not only help local artists in finding work, but also aid in community

development, creating programs for at-risk youth, revitalize neighbourhoods, and of course

provide beautiful, colourful art that's free for all city residents to enjoy.

On a related note, this 1999 painting by artist Peter Doig, which is essentially the image

from my childhood memory, was sold in 2014 for around $15.5 million.

Doig is a Scottish artist who moved to Canada as a child and lived here until he was 19.

To non-Torontonians, you might just think - ok it's just a painting of

a road and a rainbow.

And yeah, it is.

And in real life, it's just a road and a rainbow painted on the side of a railway overpass.

But for Doig, and millions of other Torontonians, it means so much more.

It means brightening up your daily commute, maybe even just for a tiny, little bit.

It represents putting a smile on your face on a cold grey winter's day.

And I think, it also symbolizes the resilience and dedication of the strong and supportive

communities that make up this great city.

Betty: Ok, location change!

So I'm here in New York with my friend Dave from the awesome urban planning channel -

City Beautiful.

Dave: Yeah over on my channel, I just posted a video on the World Trade Centre Memorial,

which is right behind us.

Betty: Link in the description.

Bye for now! *Snap*

Mark Normand - Everything's Tense - Duration: 5:01.

Got to be very PC now. Those PC words.

I'm all about progress, but why does adding syllables

to a word make it less offensive, you know?

Used to be "stupid," now it's "learning disabled."

Used to be "retarded," now it's "mentally gay" or whatever, huh?

(laughter)

Can't keep up with the PC, you know?

It's all just a gesture.

None of it means anything.

Like, some PC, I like, like Native American, that's good.

He's not from India, why are we calling him Indian?

Native American, great. I'll say that.

But, like, African-American, I feel weird saying.

I don't have African-American friends, I have black friends.

I don't have Caucasian friends, I have relatives.

(laughter)

None of it adds up.

Where are all the African-Canadians?

Why don't we say that?

Black people are born in Canada every day.

We don't know what the hell we're saying anymore.

We'll be like, "Idris Elba is an amazing African-American actor."

Well, he's British.

What the... hell are we doing?

(laughter)

It's just white people. We're nervous.

We don't know what to say. We're scared.

We don't want to get fired. We don't want to offend.

You could corner a white guy in the sidewalk now

with a microphone, a video camera,

like, "What color is Ray Charles?"

He'd be like, "Uh, he's blind."

(laughter)

"Well, what's his ethnicity?" "Piano player."

"Well, what color is his skin?"

"I got kids, man. Leave me alone."

We're terrified.

Come into my home now and watch the Discovery Channel,

I'm like, "Hey, it's a great white shark."

"Mediocre white. We're not all great."

"I'm sorry."

But racism is alive and well, man.

I was just down in, uh, Knoxville, Tennessee.

You guys ever been there?

(whistles) What a shithole. Holy hell.

They are 30 years behind over there.

You ever go to a town so small, they're still racist toward certain white people?

You know? They're like, "Hey, watch out over there."

"That's where the dirty Irish live."

I was like, "Jesus Christ."

You guys haven't made it to black people yet?

(laughter)

My God, you're far behind.

I live in New York. We're past Arabs, let's go.

(laughter and applause)

Pick it up, come on.

Oh.

Yeah. Being racist now, very risky.

You lose your job, you get ostracized from society,

you make headlines.

That's why if anyone's ever racist around you now,

you know they trust you.

It's kind of this weird, bittersweet moment, you know?

You're on a smoke break with somebody, he's like,

"Oh, man, I can't stand Mexicans."

You're like, "Holy hell, you're full of hate,

but I didn't know we were so close."

Jesus Christ.

I feel like racism and smoking are a lot alike, you know?

Like, in the 50s, everybody did it.

Now we know it's bad, we're trying to cut back,

but some people just can't quit.

We should treat racists the way we treat smokers.

Now you're at your day job, some guy's about to tell a racist joke.

You're like, "Hey... take that shit outside, huh?"

Just a bunch of guys out in the cold,

"Oh, goddamned Jews, huh? R-r-r-r-r-r."

"If I don't take those racist breaks, I get cranky."

Then they go to restaurants,

"How you folks doing? You want the racist section

or the non-racist?"

"Well, we've had a few drinks. Better go racist."

"All right, well, it's your funeral."

"The kitchen is heavily Hispanic."

Well, that's where we're at now.

Everything's... tense.

White privilege, that's a term you hear a lot now, white privilege.

I was at a grocery store with a friend of mine, black guy,

I stole a candy bar. I love to steal.

I get a real rush from stealing.

Yeah. I love stealing.

What do you call it when you like to steal?

What's the word for that?

Clepto, yes.

What's the one where you have sex with dead bodies?

(laughter)

Necrophilia, yes. I'm that, too.

So, yeah, yeah...

So, yeah, I steal the candy bar, I get outside,

I'm all proud of myself.

My friend goes, "Ah, white privilege, white privilege."

I was like, "What? No, this was a robbery."

(laughter)

"If I had gotten caught then gotten away with it, that would be white priv--

this was me being an amazing thief, right?"

And he was like, "No, no, it's white privilege

because the guy didn't follow you around the store,

he followed me around the store."

And I was like, "Well, yeah, that's why I brought you."

Come on.

Yeah.

Oh.

Yeah.

Man.

This wasn't diversity, this was a diversion.

(laughter)

But, you know, we gotta keep up with the lingo, PC.

The whole PC thing just feels very phony to me.

It feels bullshit.

Like, you can tell PC's kind of bullshit

'cause you never use those words in emergency.

There's too many syllables.

People are hurt, you gotta help 'em.

You don't have time to be progressive.

You gotta save some lives.

Like, if you see a Chinese guy get into a car accident

and run over a black guy, you can't be like,

"Oh, my God, officer, come quick."

"There's been a terrible tragedy."

"An Asian-American man got into a car accident--

"not 'cause they're bad drivers--

"and, uh, he ran over an African-American gentleman

"who was crossing the street slowly--

"not 'cause they do that-- and, uh...

"you gotta come quick, the guy's really hurt.

"He's drowning in a pool of his own blood--

not 'cause they can't swim."

(laughter)

Now the guy's dead. You killed him.

Thanks a lot.

You guys are great. Thanks for coming out.

Go get 'em. Thank you. Thank you.

(cheering and applause)

a NOT-SO-STRAIGHT Would You Rather w Foxyhotmess - Duration: 8:48.

alright lemme stretch my mouth muscles

i know right

hey my-BEAUTIFUL pffhaha

hey my beautiful people, what is up! welcome back to my channel, it's Keara and

jade - foxy. what's up?

today, we're gonna be doing a little lesbian edition of would you rather

Mm-hmm

and i'm super excited to be collabing with jade because i've watched her videos for quite a long time now and I was like, yes

representation on YouTube, like thank you.

i'm in LA, look at me go

lil Toronto girl

we out here.

we out here in the - not the 6 - we out here in the.. what is LA called?

umm

don't do that -

no but like! you know like -

the 6ix.

i know. and you're gonna be back really soon, okay?

just say LA. i don't know what the numbers are here

we out here in the - the 405

the I-5

we out here in the... the...

streets

sunny california

no, no we're doing okay, actually

so this is from BuzzFeed

it's just a bunch of would you rather questions and we haven't seen these before so we're just gonna wing it because improv, right?

yeah, that's what we do

would you rather: never cut your fingernails again, or have a permanently sprained wrist on your dominant hand?

okay

i'd rather have the wrist - the sprained wrist

yeah same cuz I can be ambidextrous

is that what it's called? ambidextrous?

close

am-ambuhda-

ambidextrous

would you rather: date someone with the same name as you or date someone who looks eerily similar to you?

okay, this is kind of funny because my dad - so there's this girl

she's my friend and she's on Lost & Found with me, which is the show i'm on and

her name's sarah and she also kind of looks like me

but my dad thought that I was dating her when I was like "my girlfriend's name is sarah"

but she looks really similar to me and that would be weird because like people would think we're sisters and that's...

i feel like i'd rather have a same name

yeah

yeah, i mean because like i mean, i guess i'm trying to think of can I see myself dating the femme version of me and

i don't think it's gonna happen. yeah, i'd definitely take the name.

yeah

our wedding invitations would just be stupid

would you rather: have totally perfect gaydar or have the magical ability to never fall for a straight girl?

never fall for a straight girl

period. stamp. envelope. send it.

i don't really fall for straight girls.

i don't think I ever have. just cause - like I don't know. it's just not there. have you?

have i?!?

what you mean? of course!

oh okay

so many!

they give off just like a not exciting vibe

maybe out there in canada! you know what i'm saying?

would you rather: have ellen degeneres elected US president or have ellen page become US President?

well... i don't have a president

OH MY GODDD

you're rubbing the fact that i'm american in my frickin face

sorry

*sighs*

cuz i have to live through this. it's like the purge...

when you see the purge movies

that's how I feel like canadians look at like american news and just like culture it's like watching the purge happen

my god, it's so unfortunate

ellen would definitely make it better if she was president

yeah.

that's my choice.

1000%

would you rather: be at a lesbian bar with only couples or be at a lesbian bar with only closeted ladies?

closeted ladies

oh yeah

cuz they'll do stuff. that's easy. yeah, that's too easy. done.

would you rather have to be BFFs with your ex or have to be BFFs with your ex's new girlfriend?

i'd rather be f-ffsfhwejf

i'd rather be friends with - best friends with my ex

because he just - hopefully he does not watch this, but I just want to be friendly with him, but he won't talk to me

aw, that's unfortunate

definitely best friends with my ex because I am friends with my ex.

okay, yeah

so yeah, easy. done.

would you rather: never have to deal with a period ever again...

or get pregnant with your partner without any medical procedures or ya know... dudes.

ohh

i thought it was just gonna be to get pregnant

i was like "ew, no"

if you're asking 27-year-old me right now, i yeah, i will never have a period ever again

yeah

my periods are so bad.

yeah, same

yeah, like it's the worst

i feel like people who never say they want kids always have the worst periods

really?

yeah, I find

it's like karma - it's like payback. oh, this is God playing a game

oh, we figured it out.

ahhhh... you slick bitch

actually now that i'm thinking about it, all of my close friends who are lesbians have like terrible conditions

like that go along with their periods

yeah

would you rather:

lady date with USWNT

what?

Women's National...

Tennis?

those look like soccer un- uhm..

that's a sports team

like soccer.

so lady date with a famous soccer player or lady date with the cast of...

what is a lady date? i feel like they're saying lady date on purpose. is that different from like a normal date?

yeah, is that different from a date?

what does Buzzfeed know that we don't?

so rather go on a date with a famous soccer player or go on a date with someone from Orange is the New Black?

Orange is the New Black, 110%

and it would be samira wiley

mkay

yeah, i've had a crush on her for so long

yeah, she's a fan fave for sure

yo! i would go on a date with the girl who played the cook ... the older lady?

Gloria Mendoza

yes

the like 40 year old. yes. yeah.

definitely. i like her attitude. she just wasn't there for the games

she's like "i'm not here for your games, like, let's do this. like y'all are dumb. what are you doing?"

getting everyone together

yeah yeah. she seems like she's got her head on right

i feel you

k would you rather: erase the term scissoring from the world's vocabulary or have all lady porn be directed by ladies?

have all lady porn be directed by ladies, exactly.

someone asked me the other day

is scissoring a thing?

is scissoring a thing?

yeah

it's a thing

but not like, flying in the air like ninjas

no, it's not like you do the Chun-Li until you guys like, link together

like it's not like that either

would you rather:

have everyone constantly confuse your girlfriend for your sister or have everyone constantly confuse your girlfriend for your best friend?

best friend

best friend. because sister - that would mean that she looks like me

and if we got caught doing stuff at least people wouldn't think it was incest

exactly! fair.

would you rather come out of the closet with a parade -

through your ... wait

come out of the closet with a parade through your hometown or with a speech on national television

i think a parade would be fun cuz it's like a Keara pride parade

yeah, and then it's like a little party. so it takes the pressure out of it. a speech is so like

serious

it's like "oh! i'm gay"

yeah, no

would you rather: forever have Tegan and Sara's hairstyle...

or always be rocking Cameron Esposito's lady mullet?

noooo

no!

low-key I used to have Tegan and Sara's haircut

really?

i did

i'm gonna have to go with Teg's

same

would you rather: live in a world where being gay was the norm

or

keep things the way they are now and keep on being a unique badass

unique badass

because if it was the norm then there would be less crime... less hate crimes.

you're right

i would think anyway

if it was like normalized

the norm? does that mean everyone's gay or does that mean it's just normalized?

oh! true.

cuz if it's everyone's gay than thats...

i mean, that's cool,

but would we still have pride?

no. exactly.

it wouldn't be as fun

only if I was guaranteed that if being gay was a norm that there would just be less like unnecessary

crap that we have to deal with.

yeah, that makes sense

then i would do it.

alright, that is all the que - eh - stions

we have for you today folks stay tuned for next week's episode of

A Week on Bitcoin

Hi! Welcome to the Looking for a job channel.

I went through your feedback and I decided

to make one more episode about the A Week on Bitcoin experiment.

A few people e-mailed me that it wasn't okay

to just take everything for myself.

That's why I'd like to donate a certain amount to a particular charity.

Some of you have been following this channel since 2015.

Somewhere here you'll see an episode about how I pretended to be a beggar

and begged on the streets of Warsaw.

I encouraged you to support a certain foundation

which has been helping people in a difficult situation through work.

I'd like to support this foundation by sending them some Bitcoins.

What amount exactly? Here is the amount.

Here is the amount.

I hope I'll be able to do it by e-mail or SMS.

Why this particular foundation?

See for yourselves!

If you complain that the world is unfair

either you roll up your sleeves and make it fairer

or support us, if you feel that way.

We are trying to make this world a fairer place.

We're doing our best to bridge gaps

caused by harm, suffering or simply lack of material means.

That's why we encourage you to cooperate.

We'd like to thank all who donate money and items

and support us with their kindness, their time and their knowledge.

Sister Malgorzata Chmielewska Foundation found a great way

to lift people out of poverty and help those in a difficult situation.

It's about working together.

In a remote village in the Swietokrzyskie province

sister and her team organised: a kindergarten,

several pitches, a skate park, playgrounds,

a computer lab, a band,

fruit and vegetable processing shop,

a carpentry shop and a sewing shop.

You can find more about these ideas on skarbyprababuni.pl.

I really encourage you to do so.

I also encourage to support this foundation because it's really worth it.

Let's call Sister Malogrzata.

How are you, Karol?

Hello, sister!

Hello.

Sister, I have an idea.

I'd like to send you some Bitcoin via SMS.

Is that okay? Can I do it now?

Sure you can.

I'll send it right away, sister.

Okay, please confirm that you've received it.

Yes, I've got it. I've received some link.

Right, do you know what to do next, sister?

Well of course I have no idea!

Ok, here's what to do next.

You can download an app using this link.

Right...

That's how you'll have access to your Bitcoins.

You can either pay with it or simply keep it in the app

and wait until the price increases.

It's an app for smartphones, right?

Yes, but there's also a desktop version.

That's the only thing you need to use Bitcoin.

If you'd like to convert it to cash...

Yes?

The best way would be to use an exchange machine.

They're called Bitcoin ATMs.

There are a few in Warsaw.

Okay, we'll meet when I'm in Warsaw.

I'll download the app and see what's in it.

I hope I'm up to it.

I'm not completely ignorant but also not a geek.

We'll give it a try. Thank you very much.

The money will obviously support our foundation.

We run a kindergarten,

so we'll buy toys or something else for the kids.

Thank you very much! All the best!

Thanks, all the best to you too!

Oh so far away

Let me take you away

Everything you just did

AVENTURA VEGANA! MENDOZA VERDE! - Duration: 9:49.

actually it was a long time without a video like this one! but today is a good opportunity!

because in the San Martin park one of the most beautiful park of Mendoza

its "mendoza verde" (green mendoza)

a fair about environment and sustainability

with so many vegan options

vegan icecreams, vegan cakes and vegan products!

so I said why i dont show it to the vegan army !

so let´s go theree!

i cannot explain how hot is today ! its like 30° celcius (100 something farenheit)

and we are not even close to summer

so now i am gonna tellyou how is San martin park and what is this fair about !

and then let´s drive there!

ok, San martin park is one of the most beautiful and green parks

and prolly one of the biggest in argentina!

this one is the first fair of environment and sustainability in mendoza

so now let´s go thereeee! and i show it to you!

i just got here and again i find a park spot for good luck

always happens the same to me ! and i come days where all people wanna go !

and i never find spots easily!

okay now i am gonna show you how is this park

lets walk there and see what we can buy that is vegan!

its so full of people music is really loud!

the enviroment of the place is perfect for this

so lets see what options we can find! and i show you guys !

its around 10 minutes we got here !

and see behind me its the vegan icecream place

i just bought one ! because its so hot outhere!

its about 32° or 33° celcius so here we ae with the icecream!

its vanilla and brownie and chocolate flavor!

they are 100% vegan with almond milk

and they are so good and so delicius !

and addictive (prolly they have nicotine because they are totally addictive LOL)

so now lets sit down a little bit in a shadow and eat the icecream

while i am eating let me tell you that yesterday we were here in this fair

with anonymous for the voiceless it was so great !

because so many people ask and watched the videos

a lot seem very interested! and we debate we some more

and i have a video to show you guys but in another video!

and for now the icecream is great ! the environment of this place is still amazing

jus listen to the music

it´s awesome !

so now i am gonaa done with it!and then i keep showing stuff to you !

see you in a moment !

here we come back !everyone was closing but

this fair in my opinion was a lot better than the "green market"

because there were a lot more vegan options

the icecreams and ii also saw cardamomo that is kind of a plae with vegan groceries!

with everything spices plant based milk ! also saw freshmarket CO

thta is kind of the same as cardamomo! all the links in the description!

because they are vegan stuff and we gotta support them !

and here we stop walking

freshmarketCO have a lot of vegan options too!

so if next year you are around here because i think next year is gonna be again here !

please come ! its awesome ! the icecream was like 60 pesos ( 1,5 dollars)

so come its a great option and opportunity of eat

a bit i dont know if more ealthy but with out cruelty !

i almost missed it ! i was going to the car and i saw that cardamomo was still open !

here a video

there you can see how many products they have ! thaat are vegan and some organic!

and super delicius ! and if you can and you are here in mendoza go there because its a great place !

and they help animals environment and everyone!

now this is ending all people is walking to me so i cannot look to the camera

and i dont want to hit them LOL

here you could find everything beer the stuff i just show it to you guys , icecream

there were a lot of vegan stuff! some people here teach you how to recycle stuff

some with electric cars like those bihind me , totally from mendoza and

Argentina and if we can support them its the riht thing to do!

some are not vegan but today the majority was vegan!

so 10 points for that to this event!

a lot of people ! a lot of people buying vegan stuff!

now lets walk to the car and the music( again) really loud

i am gonna tell you what i think what i saw and what i would put in the next one

this was a great day to this event it was super sunny and really nice to be out

its so hot but its nice at the same time because its this little cold wind

IT WAS A PERFECT DAY FOR THIS !

WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THE PARK?

its one of the most beautiful ones in mendoza but easily could be the best one !

it has all kinds of trees! palm trees like in this street that is called like that !

and here in my back there is this lake ! so this is really pretty

beautiful park beautiful day ! and great fair !

and the car is parked rally far away !

now i think next time is in the car ! so see you in a second!

finally in the car again

its soo hot my broda!

people i would give this to you haha

we are not even in summer we are like 3 months apart ! and i am melting down !

someone can explain me what i am gonna do in summer?

i wanna tell you that this fair was better than i expect !

the little time that i´ve been here i really enjoy it

i got here really late and the fair was supposed to be closed by 6pm

now its 6.30pm and i got here around 5.30pm

I´ve been an hour walking , taking videos and photos ! talking with people !

and i got to the conclusion that this fair should be done more often!

more now that the hot days are coming!

it´s amazing that people ca get vegan options in an easier way !

i mean not just go to get your vegan stuff to certain places because argentina is like that !

in Argentina you can not get vegan options everywhere!

here is a certain place too but they are all together!

that what i mean!

it was very very good and really interesting!

really good idea!

tumb up to MENDOZA

now lets drive home!

ok people i just got home it was areally great day !

it was a shame i got there to late

beacuse i would love to be there all day long !

but ok now i am in home! i am gonna take a shower ! because i am little diu haha

I hope you like the video ! if you do like it and suscribe !

and see you in the next video !

Madame Gandhi Does ASMR, Talks Daily Meditation and The Female Voice - Duration: 7:23.

I'm Madame Gandhi and this is Mind Massage.

Ssh!

I started producing and performing music

in the past couple of years as Madame Gandhi

that elevates and celebrates the female voice.

But in my work, it's very difficult to stay grounded,

so today I'm gonna walk you through some of the practices

that I do to be the best version of myself.

I, wherever I travel, always want to

start and end my day with a meditation

with both of my feet firmly placed on the ground.

I'll close my eyes,

feel very symmetrical and powerful and centered in body.

And something that I learned recently is that

if you're grateful,

you cannot have hatefulness in your heart.

[exhales]

It feels so good to take a breath.

If I'm at home, I'll start by lighting some incense.

Even, like, being near fire and being around fire

is really powerful.

Fire can destroy something so quickly.

It's very liberating.

Sometimes we have energy and feelings

that we think are so important. It's really not.

Nature can remind you in a second

that sometimes our feelings are irrelevant and so fleeting.

It also allows me to focus my senses

on something very specific, like a smell.

[inhales, exhales]

And I'll just place that to the side

and let the smoke kind of waft during this practice.

If you're in a position where you're in silence,

first, be so grateful for that silence.

It's such a privilege to be able to just be in your own energy

and hear yourself think, looking inside.

What is it that you think?

What is it that you want?

What is it that you're excited about?

What is it that makes you feel happy?

So being in silence for a moment is so incredible.

[exhales]

And when I've experienced that gratefulness,

that gratitude for silence,

then I might use Asian instruments

to create some melody.

One example are these chimes that I bought

when I was in Cambodia.

[chime dings]

[echoes, fades]

Honestly, one is all you need.

Another thing that I'll do is

to use music and sound to focus my senses.

We take our senses for granted and we oftentimes waste them

on things that are really not so good for our mental health.

Less is more. You know, if you can focus all of your senses

on one thing, it's very profound.

If you're able to have as many of the elements as possible,

it makes you feel connected with nature.

It steadies my mind and it makes me focus on one thing,

which, oftentimes, in our generation

is very difficult to do.

I wanna show you a breathing technique that I use.

I'll take my hand, I close my nostril.

In through one nostril, [inhales]

out through the opposite nostril [exhales],

and it slows your entire energy down

so that you feel like you have a warrior suit

to take anything on.

Once I've done the breathing,

I might then bring a more complex melodic instrument

into my practice.

This is a Hang drum.

And then I'll use my favorite drum technology,

which is sensory percussion.

It will play melodic tones

that allow me to first start ideas flowing for a song.

In the final aspects of my meditation,

before I do a chant,

I imagine two people for that day

that I want to send love and kindness to,

and I send them 10-15 seconds

of a visualization of me seeing them happy.

And then I think of three things that I love about myself.

[inhales, exhales]

So I can feel whatever negative anxiety I might have

slowly start to leave my body and then I'll chant.

[chanting]

Om. Om. Om.

Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.

And that's how I'll approach my day.

This is Kiran. I perform as Madame Gandhi.

Namaste. The future is female.

And thank you.

Ssh!
