It has been a long time ago since we visited our review spot, almost 2 months.
Today, we decided to get out of the city
and to review the very rare MRE in Russia and the USA.
Its name is T.O.T.M
Tailored Operational Training Meal.
It means it's US Military Training MRE.

- It's name is Tailored Operational Training Meal.
The purpose of this MRE is very simple:
1. The main thing is budget effectiveness.
- In cases, when the employment of traditional MREs is not mandated. It's on official DLA website. When there aren't traditional MREs...
- Yeah, traditional American MREs...
- Yes, when it's too expensive, so, this is the purpose of this ration, because it's half the price.
- We've put the cost of traditional MRE - it's about 9$.
T.O.T.M costs 4$.
- 4.50$ - Yes, 4.50$

Officially stated that it weighs 1,023 lbs, it's about 460 kg.

We can also say some words about shelf life.
- As I know the T.O.T.M shelf life is shorter than traditional MRE.
- Look, the shelf life is 18 months, but not less than 12 months.
Yeah, traditional shelf life of American MRE is about 3 years. So, it's 2 times cheaper, shelf life is twice shorter.
This thing is 2 times smaller, and, I guess, it's half the weight of traditional MRE.

The main course is chicken, noodles and vegetables in sauce.

By the way, I've never seen such a thing.
Of course, a peanut butter,
a fig bar
a packet of crackers
and a flameless ration heater.
Besides, we'll test its functionality.
Okay, I guess we'll start with the main course.
- We didn't say one more thing from the DLA web site, about the menus, the variety of meals.
- Oh, actually, I don't know.
Okay, there are 3 big types, 12 menus are in every type, and it's 36 menus in total.

The great meal, it's really delicious.

It's tasty, really. Vasya thinks that vegetable taste is stronger, but I think that chicken meat prevails over vegetables.
- You know, what is really great? I can't taste that typical American MRE flavor.
That's a new meal, a whole new level and quality.

...I guess, you noticed. From time to time, we criticize the same taste of almost all main courses in American MREs.
Some unknown seasoning or something like that, maybe curry or what...it's just typical.
Pasta, meat or no matter...
...that taste is very strong.
If you close your eyes, you don't even understand what you're eating. That's whole new taste. First of all, it's here...
- Yeah, it's very clear.
- Secondly, it differs from all other MRE meals. So, I like it.
- The only thing, you know, I think that chicken is tough a little, for some reason. It's just my opinion.
- I don't agree, I like every piece of this meal. It's easily chewable.
- If we talk about American MRE's meal, I can tell you for sure that it's "A". It's high-quality meal.
And pepper makes it a bit zesty, just incredible.
- I'm all for it, it's definitely "A".

I can taste freshness, but I have no doubts that this ration is 1 year for sure.
