Seth Explains Teen Slang: Blazey Eye, Pre-Laming - Duration: 4:26.

-You know, I'm 43 years old, I'm married, I have a kid.

But nothing makes me feel older than when I don't know

the new slang terms teenagers are using,

and it seems like, these days, teen slang terms

are evolving so fast that sometimes it's hard to keep up.

So we decided to give you a little primer

on new teen slang terms in a segment we call

"Seth Explains Teen Slang."

[ Cheers and applause ]

Our first new teen slang term is blazey eye.

It means "When you're so high,

one of your eyes is looking in the other direction."

For example, "Mike smoked two whole bowls,

and he's got blazey eye so bad,

I can't tell if he's staring at me or his own nose."

[ Laughter ]

Next up, we have pubstitute.

Let's see what it means.

"A substitute teacher whose breath smells like alcohol."

[ Laughter ]

Here it is in a sentence -- "We had a sub for algebra today,

and when that pubstitute asked me to solve a proof,

I just said, 'I'm guessing 80?'"

[ Laughter ]

Our next teen slang term is inspired by "Game of Thrones."

It's the Night's Watch.

The term refers to the guys at at a school dance

who stand by the wall the whole time."

[ Laughter and applause ]

Here it is in a sentence --

"I don't have a date for homecoming,

so I think I'm gonna skip it or I'll end in the Night's Watch,

#VowOfCelibacy."

[ Laughter ]

Next up, it's khaki sack.

This is when your friend wears khakis to school

so you all take turns kicking him in the balls.

[ Laughter ]

For example, "Accidently missed 5th period

because we were in the quad playing an extra long game

of khaki sack with Preppy Steve, #HeProbablyCan'tHaveKids."

[ Laughter ]

Our next teen slang term is wanktuary.

It means, "The one place in a house where you can masturbate

without someone walking in on you."

Here it is in a sentence -- "The guest-room closet

was my refuge, my shelter --

indeed, the only true haven I had --

until that fateful day when my father went looking

for his tennis racket, and, alas, my wanktuary was no more."

[ Laughter ]

Next up, we have "deodoraunt."

Here's the definition.

"Deodorant you put on to get rid of the weird smell

at your aunt's house."

Let's hear it in a sentence.

Spent a weekend at my Aunt Judith's,

and when I got back, I needed four Speed Sticks

to mask the smell of raisins, broccoli, and old carpet,

#Deodoraunt."

Moving on, this slang term is really specific

to kids in the chess club.

This is very specific to kids in the chess club.

It's "rook shook."

Let's see the definition.

"When you are shocked by something that happens

in a game of chess."

For example, "Mason was lulled into comfort

by Tyler's standard Sicilian Defense opening,

but he lost his Queen in a Smith-Mora Gambit.

Boy was left rook shook."

Up next, you've heard the term dad bod.

Well, this is God bod.

It's someone whose body resembles God's.

For example, "Saw Tim at the beach and his long white beard,

luxurious white hair, and flowing white robes

really made his bod look heavenly,

#GodBod, #AndItWasGood."

[ Laughter and applause ]

This next one's really blowing up with the teens.

It's Sprite Club.

This is a safe place where teens who can't handle caffeine

can just sit and drink Sprite.

[ Laughter ]

Let's see it in a sentence --

"The first rule of Sprite Club is no Sierra Mist!"

Next up, it's Wile E. Cyrus.

This is that girl in choir

who always has a new gadget from ACME.

[ Laughter ]

For exa-- [ Laughs ]

It's very helpful, 'cause before,

you didn't have a slang term for this.

For example, "Beth's 'Ave Maria' solo was going great

until she suddenly powered up her pair of ACME rocket skates,

flew through the air, and crashed into

a fake tunnel someone painted onto the brick wall,

#WileECyrus, #MeepMeep."

And, finally, most of you have probably heard

of pre-gaming before a fun party.

Well, last term is "pre-laming."

Let's see the definition.

"When you drink before something you know is gonna suck

to make it tolerable."

For example, "Ben and I are pre-laming before Josh's party

because we're pretty sure it's gonna be a total Sprite Club."

Trump touts major achievements during his five-nation Asia trip - Duration: 2:07.

U.S. President Donald Trump has hailed the achievements made during his marathon 13-day

tour of Asia.

In what he dubbed "a major statement," Trump said Asian leaders had agreed to confront

the North Korea issue head on... and would treat the United States more fairly on trade

under his administration.

Kim Hyo-sun reports.

President Trump made a televised statement to the nation on Wednesday,... summing up

his lengthy five-nation trip to Asia.

Hailing the achievements he made while sitting down with Asian leaders,... Trump explained

that his tour had three major goals - uniting the world against North Korea's nuclear threats,

strengthening alliances in the Indo-Pacific region and advancing fair and reciprocal trade

with other countries.

Highlighting that his state visit to South Korea was the first made by a sitting U.S.

president in 25 years,... Trump reiterated that he shared the same view with President

Moon Jae-in in dealing with the threats posed by Pyongyang.

(ENGLISH) "We have to denuclearize North Korea.

Tough new sanctions from the UN Security Council.

South Korea agreed to harmonize sanctions and agreed with ... to fund .. It's unacceptable."

President Trump also stressed that his message was well received by Asian leaders.

"Maximum pressure of North Korea.

They're responding by cutting and expelling North Korean diplomats and workers.

"

The U.S. leader added that Asia understood the importance of fairness and reciprocity

when it comes to trade,... touting successful negotiations with Asian leaders, including

a renegotiation of Washington's trade deal with Seoul.

He also explained that such momentum will be sustained through a new framework for trade

that benefits the U.S. and its partners.

How To Painsomnia - Duration: 8:13.

Hello friends! And welcome to Chronicles,

a place where we Kate and Victoria

-[whispers] just Victoria for now, Kate's still away -

as you can see by the sleepy Victoria you see before you,

I am feeling especially spoonless, but don't you worry!

I found yet another video sitting in my hard drive that never got uploaded.

Huzzah! Get ready to segue to past Victoria in threee uh two uh one!

Hello! I wanted to talk about a little thing called painsomnia.

"Habitual sleeplessness due to pain intolerance,

or the tolerance of pain for a length of time in which it is no longer tolerable

... Inability to sleep through anguish or agonising pain."

[GROANS] This is a fun topic.

Yeah, I'm currently going through this

It's actually 3:15 AM right now and I'm making this! because of painsomnia.

And so I thought I'd talk about it!

What it is, how it is... I don't know why it is! We're not gonna go there,

but we're gonna do what we can.

I feel like the title itself is pretty self-explanatory...

[gestures] pain + insomnia = painsomnia.

it's hard, it's frustrating... all of the bad words.

AND it screws up your body clock. I was just getting into a good nighttime routine

before painsomnia hit me again...

I could be feeling completely exhausted - so ready to sleep -

the- the wave of dreamland will come upon me and then...

BAM!

Sharp pangs! more sharp pangs! maybe burning pain this time,

maybe just this heavy pushing type pain, or the animal trap type pain will just like grab at my insides.

And you know... trying to sleep through that mm-mm that's just not gonna happen.

I have noticed that I also sweat like a pig, I get hot flushes...

I'm drenched and so I'm like shivering and cold, and in pain.

I'm fully heated so I'm like really hot and I want to be under the fan...

Actually! this is something interesting happens...

When I'm under the fan, it'll be good for like a second,

but then the coldness on my skin (from sweating) will make it feel like sharp needles...

My body just reacts and I feel like I'm being stabbed by the air; it's so strange!

I actually intentionally didn't wear foundation or like any makeup

around this area, because I just wanted you to see that I have got bags under my eyes.

I think I look okay? It's so annoying, because even though I feel so crap,

I'm always gonna look okay to people...but I'm not feeling okay.

I'm feeling properly crap...

It's 8 in the morning, I've barely slept...

At first it was like a normal night. I was feeling wide awake like I always do at night time...

And I started going to sleep, there was a lot of pain in my tummy...

The pain was just getting... BAD... I didn't really realise how bad....

The fact that I have hardly slept and I've been in and out of like a weird nap

It just goes to show...[laughs breathlessly]

[GROANS] I just want to sleep!

I would like to say that mindfulness, meditation, listening to calming music ASMR etc helps,

And it does?

...but if you've also got all of the symptoms bombarding you while you're trying to sleep,

it's kind of impossible...

So it's just not really a situation you can fix

The-there isn't really any pretty way of talking about it...

but there are things that I do...

The best thing you can do in those times is to distract yourself [snickers].

Yeah! watching something that you really like, and also making sure you're hydrated

that's a big one!

Sometimes you just can't move, because it's too impossible...

but if you can, just little stretches are really helpful.

I-I stretch in bed and do like exercises...

Otherwise, you end up with like a lot of secondary pain as well which is a thing

(I do have it despite stretching tbh) [nervous breathy laugh].

I have to say, painsomnia, is the best time to binge TV shows, movies -

Whatever series that you want, like just watch everything!

Everything that you find happiness in, just watch the heck out of it!

because, there isn't anything that helps me escape more than television and movies.

Suggestions would be: Netflix, Stan, Anime, Lord of the Rings.

I also recommend k-dramas (korean), because every episode is an hour long,

it goes for like one season only so it's like a book!

It really is good for those times when you just can't really focus on anything else.

I actually really like watching mini series, because they go for longer and you have hours and hours

of things to binge, binge, BINGE.

One of the biggest bouts of painsomnia that i've ever had,

the best thing that I found to watch was The Walking Dead.

It is A+ to watch any type of [stumbles on word] apocalyptic content,

because the people in those things are probably in as much pain as you are,

and just having somebody that gets you,

even though if they're fictional characters, just having those people there

that I like in pain like you, it makes me feel...[laughs] part of community?

It-it comforts me in a very deep way, and I want to talk about that more in depth

but I'm just putting that out there. Apoc-apocalyptic TV shows and movies really helped me,

so maybe they could help you [laughs at myself].

These are the things that help me survive.

the Internet is a wonderful place, for helping people like me, get through the night.

One night, I remember specifically, my mum actually had to sleep in my bed so that she could attend to me,

because I was extreme amounts of pain and I didn't have any [narcotic level] pain relief left.

So it was just down to focusing on something else, and doing as much as I could to like distract myself

from how awful it was. and I just remember watching liked hours and hours of YouTube.

it was the only thing that helped me to like escape.

[GROANS] I don't know what else to say...

my brain's actually turning to mush, which is something that happens as well (BRAIN FOG).

I just wanted to talk about it today, cos it's what's happening to me right now.

That's all I could think of to say.
