A 7.3-magnitude earthquake has struck off the east coast of Australia near New Caledonia.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake hit just after 9:30 a.m.
Monday, local time, about 80 kilometers east of the Loyalty Islands, at a depth of 25 kilometers.
A tsunami warning has been issued for New Caledonia and Vanuatu, with waves as high
as one meter forecast to hit their coastlines.
