Waching daily Nov 9 2017

Hello, tankers!

Welcome to the 40th episode of our developer's diary.

Today, we'll be summing up the Halloween celebration.

We'll also be telling you about the recent updates

and the upcoming interface improvements.

The Halloween celebration ended last week, on November 1st.

For five days in a row, our valiant tankers were leveling up their tanks

and setting new records.

We had increased rates during the celebration,

that helped our tankers earn more than 190 million experience

and battle points.

Good catch, huh?

More than 5 thousand tankers have used the Halloween themed spider mine

and decorated maps with a pumpkin graffiti.

Additionally, for the entire duration of the celebration,

our tankers were actively searching for the Halloween tank.

The lucky ones managed to get promo-codes

with bonuses that included crystals, containers, and more.

Those who participated in the "Treat or Screen"

contest and won, got additional rewards.

Despite the Halloween tank being tough, our players have managed to defeat it 834 times.

Realizing it couldn't keep the struggle against our brave tankers,

it went back down to the underworld.

We would like to ask you to share your opinion about the Halloween festivities

and the updates we released in October,

in the survey that we regularly ask you to take part in at the end of every month.

You'll find the link in the description

Let's get to development news.

We're planning on adding new battle effects next week.

These have the role of providing visual feedback

whenever your tank gets hit by an enemy

and when your health bar goes below the critical mark.

Our intent is to help our players focus more on their battles and skirmishes

instead of having them pin their eyes to their health bars every other 5 seconds.

More effects like these are planned to be implemented with future updates.

As you know, all newly registered players

must play their first few matches against bots.

Last week, we improved these bots.

They are now stronger and have new weaponry.

Talking about new players:

Very soon, they will be able to purchase the "Starter's pack" at an affordable price.

The pack contains

a decent number of crystals for a comfortable start and an exclusive paint.

This offer will become available to newly registered players after their third battle.

The rest of the players will be able to use this offer after their first battle,

AFTER the release of the update.

Stay alert and be quick - the offer will only run for two days!

Oh, and don't worry about the squads and general chat features,

we're still working on them.

According to the feedback we got after the release of the "Arms Race" update,

many players were unable to figure out

or notice the changes that had been made to the game.

Therefore, we've started working on improving the interface of the game,

so that it would help players to easily navigate through the intricacies of the gameplay.

A new interface designer has recently joined the Tanki X development team.

He already made his appearance during the Russian Halloween Livestream

and shared some of his future plans and ideas.

During the upcoming months, I will be working on fixing a number of issues

related to the interface.

In addition, I am planning on changing

the visual style of the interface, by adding a more futuristic feel to it,

something that I think it currently lacks.

Here are the three main principles that we try to take into account

when developing the interface:

First.

The interface has to be convenient, understandable, and intuitive.

Second.

The interface has to make the player's experience immersive.

A good interface will also tell a lot about the game's setting

and will make players feel like they're part of that universe.

Third.

The interface has to be visually pleasant and appealing.

It must not stand out too much to not distract players from their main goal.

The interface elements that will be released with the future update,

are going to be designed according to the new style.

The current interface of the game will be gradually improved and redesigned by Sergey.

As a final note, we want to draw your attention to the fact that we've released

40 episodes of Developer's Diary within the past 18 months.

Therefore, we want to know if there is anything you'd like to hear more about

and what type of news or information you would like us to cover more in our next episodes.

Tell us in the comments section below.

Thanks for watching.

Until next time!

Pres. Moon attends 'S. Korea-Indonesia business forum,' stresses need for econmic and... - Duration: 2:29.

Ahead of that meeting, President Moon Jae-in attended a special forum with business big

wigs of both nations.

The massive event was the biggest of its kind since the two sides established bilateral

ties.

Hwang Hojun has more from the "South Korea-Indonesia Business Roundtable and Summit."

A day after his arrival in Jakarta,... the first destination of his eight-day Southeast

Asia tour,...

President Moon attended the biggest business forum between Korea and Indonesia... since

the two countries established bilateral ties.

About 400 Korean and Indonesian business leaders were in attendance,... including some prominent

figures including Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Yoon Boo-keun,...

Hyundai Motor President Jeong Jin-haeng,... the presidents of Korea and Indonesia's chambers

of commerce,... and Indonesia's industry minister.

During the forum, President Moon stressed the need to upgrade Korea's long-standing

partnership with Indonesia.

(KOREAN) ed: devin "I propose that our two countries take on

greater challenges and dream bigger dreams together.

I propose that we build a partnership that goes beyond our bilateral trade relations

and blaze trails together in the ASEAN and global markets."

( , . .)

And to reach that goal,...

President Moon pointed out some key cooperation tasks, including a gradual reorganization

of joint economic consultative bodies,... diversifing the areas of economic cooperation,...

expanding support for collaboration between Korean and Indonesian SMEs,... and last but

not least, expanding the trade volume between Seoul and Jakarta.

He even pledged to support next year's Asian Games hosted in Jakarta... with 5G wireless

communication technology.

The President also said he's seeking to transform Korea's relationship with the ASEAN nations...

and bring it up to equal standing... as that of Seoul's ties with other major powers.

Which is why, President Moon introduced his administration's so-called "New Southern Policy,"...

which seeks to improve diplomatic and economic ties between Seoul and its Southeast Asian

neighbors.

According to a Blue House official,... the newly coined policy would be the counterpart

of the "New Northern Policy" that seeks to reinforce economic cooperation with Russia

and other nations in Eurasia,... which President Moon mentioned when he visited Vladivostok

in September.

The official said that the two frontiers.... of expanding economic and diplomatic ties

with countries and intergovernmental organizations... will become a significant path to establish

peace and prosperity in the region.

How Accurate Are Personality Tests and Horoscopes? - Duration: 4:14.

Hey there, welcome to Life Noggin.

You humans love to put yourselves into categories.

Dog person or cat person.

Type A or type B. Scorpio or Taurus.

I'll admit, even I do this sometimes.

(I'm a Ravenclaw, Virgo, ENFJ, and I love dogs AND cats, in case you were wondering.)

People even use these categories to make important life decisions!

We think of these things like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and other personality tests

as giving us some sort of explanation of why we are the way we are.

Because of that we place a ton of weight on them when it comes to decisions like what

career path to go down or which college to attend.

We treat them like they're based on scientific facts.

But are they really all that meaningful?

Well for starters, let's define these terms.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, also known as the MBTI, is a test that supposedly reveals

four facets of your personality: introversion vs. extraversion, sensing vs. intuition, thinking

vs. feeling, and judging vs. perceiving.

It involves a series of questions about your tendencies and preferences, all of which results

in a set of four letters that are supposed to sum you up as a person.

Apparently people who are Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging are best suited for

jobs as school administrators, airline pilots, or dentists, while ESFPs should work as teachers,

flight attendants, or dental hygienists.

Seriously.

Another common personality descriptor that people love to read into is their zodiac sign.

Your zodiac sign, which is a sign given to you based on how the sun was aligned when

you were born, is thought by many to determine a lot of your characteristics.

For instance, a Scorpio (which is someone born between October 23rd and November 21st)

is supposed to be jealous and stubborn, while a Capricorn (someone born between December

22nd and January 19th) is responsible and condescending.

One common thread among these personality tests and horoscopes is something called the

Barnum Effect, which basically says that people believe that personality descriptions given

as results of a personality test are highly accurate and suit them specifically, even

when the same list of traits is actually given to everyone who took the personality test.

This is because the given traits are what's known as high base-rate characteristics, meaning

that they're true of a large portion of the population.

Examples of high base-rate characteristics are statements like "sometimes you're

too hard on yourself" or "you really want other people to like you."

Does that sound just like you?

Well, it sounds like a lot of people.

That's the point.

So now if you're thinking "these tests don't sound very scientific," well, you're

right.

While the creators of the MBTI test claimed it was based on the work of psychologist C.G.

Jung, many modern psychologists agree that it's not really based in legitimate psychology.

In fact, a group of characteristics known as the Big Five—which are extraversion,

neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness—are regarded as alternative

personality descriptors that are actually based on the scientific method.

It's believed that the Big Five may actually have some bearing on things like job performance,

and some scientists have even worked to locate regions of the brain that can be associated

with individual aspects of the Big Five.

In their 2010 study, they found that conscientiousness, for example, is significantly correlated with

the volume of the middle frontal gyrus, a section of the brain's prefrontal cortex.

So while the Big Five appear to be legitimate, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and other

tests that heavily depend on the Barnum Effect seem… fake.

It's all fun and good to put yourself in a box and label it with four letters that

claim to define you as a person, but it's pretty much meaningless.

So don't worry if you don't know your personality type or if it changes every time

you take the test—it won't do you that much good anyway.

And you're fine the way you are!

So do you have certain personality type?

Do you believe in horescopes?

Let me know in the comment section below.

Or tell us, what should we talk about next!

As always, my name is Blocko and this has been Life Noggin.

No response from North Korea to President Trump's speech denouncing the regime's human

rights violations... so far.

However it's state media did report the visiting American leader was met with protests in Seoul.

Rodong Sinmun, ran several photos showing anti-Trump rallies and said South Koreans

held demonstrations from Tuesday night, all the way through Wednesday.

The report also mentioned people from all walks of life were outraged by the billateral

summit and Trump's address at the National Assembly.

Several thousand anti-U.S. protesters did gather in Seoul on Tuesday, but pro-U.S. supporters

also took to the streets during that period.

Korea unveils US$ 2.7 billion plan to support small firms after minimum wage hike - Duration: 2:08.

Korea's minimum wage is set to rise sharply next year.

The goal is to provide greater financial security to low-income earners while also helping to

boost the economy.

But business owners are deeply concerned... the cost will be immense, even crippling for

some firms.

Which is why the government announced a plan to help soften the blow.

Kim Hyesung explains how it works.

Korea's minimum wage is set to increase by 16 percent next year to over seven-thousand-five-hundred

won, or six-dollars-70 cents an hour,... marking the biggest annual jump in almost two decades.

To help support small businesses cope with the increase in labor costs, Finance Minister

Kim Dong-yeon unveiled the government's support plan on Thursday.

(Korean) "Income inequality has grown rapidly recently,

and it's holding back domestic consumption and growth.

The minimum wage hike can foster income-led growth, and we've laid out a support fund

worth three trillion Korean won to help small businesses."

The government plans to directly fund small businesses where around 80 percent of workers

get paid less than the minimum wage.

Small businesses employing fewer than 30 people will get around 117 dollars per worker a month

in government support.

It will be limited to workers earning less than 1,700 dollars a month, which would be

less than 120 percent of minimum wage monthly income or 1,400 dollars.

Small businesses earning more than 550-thousand dollars a year in taxable income will not

be eligible for the subsidies.

(Korean) "For businesses that hire apartment security

guards or cleaners, where layoffs are a concern due to the minimum wage hike, we will still

provide them with funds, even if they employ more than 30 people."

To get the subsidy, businesses will need to meet two criteria: pay their workers the minimum

wage and also apply for employment insurance.

The subsidy plan is set for 2018 only, and still needs to be approved by the budget committee

at the National Assembly.

National Assembly to shift to three-party system after lawmakers defect from minor ... - Duration: 2:37.

Back here in South Korea.

The National Assembly has become a more favorable environment for the opposition.

Several lawmakers from Bareun Party, the splinter bloc of Liberty Korea... have returned to

the main conservative group they chose to leave earlier this year.

With the defection, Bareun Party no longer has enough seats to qualify as a negotiating

bloc, meaning affairs in parliament will be decided by just three parties

Kim Min-ji has the latest from the domestic political arena.

Eight lawmakers that defected from the minor conservative Bareun Party have officially

rejoined the main opposition Liberty Korea Party.

In a press conference Thursday,... the lawmakers,... along with the Liberty Korea Party chair Hong

Joon-pyo,... stressed the need to unite the conservative bloc to keep the liberal government

in check.

"Politically, the dust hasn't quite settled yet,... but we will clear things up now and

come together... based on the people's hopes for us to keep this left-wing government from

running amok."

"I am here to uphold calls to stop the agenda of the Moon Jae-in government.

That's why we have become the first to join efforts to unite the conservative bloc."

The exodus comes just ten months since the Bareun party was launched... in a split from

the Liberty Korea Party following the power abuse scandal that led to the impeachment

of former President Park Geun-hye.

A ninth lawmaker, Joo Ho-young,... currently the Bareun Party's floor leader and acting

chair,... will join them after the minor party's national convention next Monday.

With that,... the main opposition party will have 116 seats in the 299 seat parliament.

That's only five seats fewer than the ruling Democratic Party of Korea -- which has 121.

The new paradigm will without a doubt cause some anxiety in the ruling bloc.

With the 2018 budget proposal pending... along with a string of other major bills,... it's

going to be extra important for the ruling party to get the opposition on the same page.

It'll have one party less to contend with,... but a diminished influence on the legislative

agenda.

(Standup) "The main opposition is already opposed to

most of the ruling party's policies,... so that gives the People's Party -- which holds

40 seats -- the deciding vote on almost all matters."

The ruling party has already called the lawmakers' reinstatement a political regrouping... that

has no cause or support from the people.

As for the Bareun Party,... it's expected to focus on building solidarity among the

eleven lawmakers it still has,... and highlight itself as a reformist conservative group,...

in contrast to the Liberty Korea Party.

PARIS PHOTO CHALLENGE! | #CokeTVBucketlist - Duration: 8:54.

What is she doing?

-Excuse me, do you have... -...sugar?

Sugar?

Yeah, sugar.

-Hey everybody! Athena here with LakiDoris.

Yes, we're still in Paris as you can see.

I'm still so excited after we our last episode. Aren't you?

Yes, it was so fun to be at Disneyland Paris.

Yes, it was a childhood dream that was fulfilled.

-That's not even scary. -No, definitely not.

Oh my god!

And except of Disneyland Paris, you can do a lot of other fun things here.

-For example a new challenge. -Exactly.

So the challenge is "Photo challenge".

Oh, I think we're about to go around and take pictures of things.

Yes, there are a lot of things to photograph here is Paris. For example that big building behind us.

But I feel that we're not dressed to do this.

-No, we should change.

To something more "Paris".

-I think so! "Bonsoir!" -"Bonsoir!"

"Bonjour"

Yes, I feel ready now!

-Yes, with these hats. Or are they berets? -Yes.

-Here's the challenge. We need to read it. -Let's see what it says.

"Bonjour! You'll get one list each with French words."

"The challenge is to photograph the object that you think the French word means."

"And at last you'll present your results."

"You can't ask anyone for help."

"Bon chance"

Yes, are you ready?

Yes, so ready. But let's split up... I'm going to find my words and you're going to find yours.

So I'm just saying... Let the best person win.

-Okay, I'm leaving. Bye! -Bye!

"Au revoir"

Okay, first word: "Le fleur"

I guess it's "floor".

Like the ground.

"Fleur", check!

Check check!

"Fleeeeur"

It sounds like "flor"... i think.

So... But how do I take a picture of flor? Should I just go to a café and be like "Hi, do you have flor?

No but wait... Café?

Wait, what's "flor"?

What's "flor"?

Isn't that what you have in water.

No wait... I'm thinking about "icing sugar" (similar in Swedish).

And it feels like that makes sense.

Wait, so "fleur" is maybe "sugar".

"Au sourire de Paris".

Do you have sugar?

"Sugar", ehm...

"Sugar"?

Yeah, sugar

okay, but this doesn't seem like "fleur", it would say it.

It says "bûchette".

Oh well, I'll take a picture of it anyway.

So...

First word completed.

Okay, next word...

"Soleil". "Solelil"

You know what, I think it's "the sun".

I'm thinking "sun", because half of the word is "sol" (Swedish word for "sun")

So let's take a picture of the sun.

Perfect... It's so shiny.

Next word is...

"A...Arbre"

"Arbre".

"Arbre"?

It sounds like something you spread.

"Arbre", it sounds like... "work".

"Arbre, arbre".

Excuse me?

Do you have... like... the thing you put...

Yes, perfect!

Here it is!

This was just what I was looking for.

Perfect!

"A work", that could be...

The cranes maybe.

I'm so smart.

Let's take a picture of it.

Next...

"Eau".

"Eau".

I'm thinking "euw"...

Something that's really gross.

And something that is really gross is dog poo or something.

Cigarettes are gross.

So I'm taking a picture of a cigarette. That's "euw"...

"Euw"...

i don't feel like this is going so well, but...

We'll see, I'm wondering how it goes for Lovisa.

The word I'm going to find now is...

"Eau".

How made this word? It's so hard.

So how can I figure this out? I can't even make a parallell.

But I'm thinking... No, I'm doing this now...

I'm asking someone. Athena never needs to know, it's like...

We don't use when I ask someone.

So I'm going to ask someone now.

I know I shouldn't cheat, but I feel like I have to.

Excuse me... hello? Can I ask you a question?

-The word... This word "Eau", what does it mean?" -"Water"

-"Water"? -Yes.

"Ah, thank you so much".

Yes, yes, yes!

"Euw".. "Water". Okay.

It'll work.

So...

Okay, so next word is "pain".

It sounds like something that hurts.

Isn't it cheese, ham or something like that?

Ham?

No, that's "panini" or something.

Or is it?

"Pain"... It could be a "painting".

So I could ask him if I can take a picture of his paint.

Because "pain" sounds like... "paint".

"Paint".

Excuse me?

"Panini" is a small... And mine is "pain", or something like that.

Yes, it has to be.

It must be, I'm taking a picture of it.

So nice.

Hi! Can I take a picture of your colors?

Wow...

"Thank you! Merci!"

I'm finished with my words and I'm going to find Athena now... and I'm on this small path now.

There she is!

What's she doing?

Little princess!

-Little red red princess! -I'm trying to be...

But do you know what I think we should do?

-Let's check the results, and see who's best. -Yes.

Okay, number 1. "Fleur"...

I did a huge comparison...

Flor... Like "icing sugar", and then I made it "sugar".

I did the other way. That "floor" means "floor" in English.

I took a picture of the ground.

-"Flower!" "Fleur"... -Ahh...

"Soleil"...

What did I think? I thought it was "sun".

-Yes! Me too! -Yes.

-Yaaay! -High five!

That wasn't so hard because "sol" is in the word.

Next word is "Eau".

I thought "Euw", so I took a picture of a cigarette.

I don't know what I was thinking...

But I know what it is.

So what did you take?

"Water".

Aaaah...

"Pain", I thought "paint".

-Oh? -So I took a picture of someone who was painting.

I took a picture of baguette.

-A baguette? -"Panini".

Yes, good.

-You were right. -I was.

-We, wow. -Yes!

Okay, next...

"Arbre"...

Ar... Arbre...

Yes, I thought that is something you paste with.

-A ladle or a knife, or something you paste with. -Yes.

So I took a picture of a ladle.

-How did you get that one? -I asked someone.

And took a picture.

I thought it was "work".

-Tree? -Tree?

Okay...

Now let's see... You won.

You were correct most times.

-But this was fun. -So fun.

-I've learned soem new French words. -Yes, me too.

And I want to keep learning... I think we should go and have some fun here in Paris.
