Waching daily Jun 27 2018

World renowned opinion leaders, diplomats, and government officials have gathered in

the nation's southernmost resort island.

They will sit down to exchange ideas on international cooperation and peace on the peninsula, among

other topics.

Hong Yoo takes us to the opening ceremony of this year's Jeju Forum.

South Korea is ready to end the decades-long division on the Korean Peninsula.

Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon said Wednesday, at the opening of the 13th Jeju Forum, that

the country is seeking international cooperation to build a permanent peace between the two

Koreas.

"The division of the Korean Peninsula was not the choice of our people but the result

of Japanese occupation and the Cold War framework.

We need to overcome this with the help of the international community."

The forum has come at a timely moment, following the two inter-Korean summits and the subsequent

North Korea-U.S. summit that produced a joint statement between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump

on denuclearization and improving bilateral ties.

So much of the discussions during this three-day forum are dedicated to the question of maintaining

the current momentum towards peace on the Korean Peninsula and turning that momentum

into a permanent peace.

This year's Jeju Forum is expected to see the biggest turnout yet with more than five

and a half thousand people from 70 different countries.

The forum runs through Thursday.

Nick Kroll Reminisces About the Obama Years - Duration: 3:42.

-How are things going? -Things are good.

Things feel --

There's a lightness to the country right now, right?

Yeah. -Very effervescent.

-Yeah! There's this feel-- I think people feel heard.

[ Laughter ]

It feels like the nation just feels like --

everything feels good.

In fact, around the world.

I think every country around the world is feeling good.

Feels a little bit like every country in the world

is in their own bathroom with a shotgun in their mouth.

[ Laughter ]

But, you know, I was with my friend Dennis Rodman

recently in North Korea.

[ Laughter ]

And we were -- I was just doing some advance work.

-Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah.

-But I was thinking about it, like, really the moment that,

like, whatever you say about Trump,

I do weirdly think there's something about North Korea

that he did -- that fire and fury thing,

I feel like Kim Jong-un was like, "Oh, okay.

Oh. Oh, you psycho like me, okay."

[ Laughter ]

"Okay, you want to jerk off in a Maserati and drive off a cliff?

Okay." [ Laughter ]

It feels like -- I think about like the Obama presidency,

and it feels like a dream.

Like, it feels like a long time ago.

Like, it's like, when I think about the Obama presidency,

it feels like -- it's like a rainy Sunday afternoon.

You're at home, you don't have anything to do.

You're like, "I'm gonna turn on Netflix."

And you're like, "I've never seen

'The Great British Bake Off.'"

[ Laughter ]

"They're so nice to each other." -Yeah.

-"This is so pleasant." You kind of fall asleep.

You wake up. You got a [bleep] on.

You're like, "This is --

I think I'm gonna have sex with a Swiss roll."

And you're like, "This is terrific."

But that is the thing with Obama that people won't admit

is that, like, he kind of -- he kind of put me to sleep.

-Right. -Like, there was --

And I can tell by the audience laughter and applause to that

that they agree.

But he really -- like, there was something about him

that, like -- like, you'd start a debate.

You'd be like, "All right, Barack, what do we got?"

And then he'd be like, "Well..." and then...

[ Laughter ] ...you'd kind of be like...

[ Laughter ]

"I know I agree with him.

Gonna pass out for a little while."

I don't think I'll think of the Trump presidency

in the same way. -Yeah.

-Like a nice, rainy Sunday afternoon.

I think the Trump presidency will be like

it's 3:00 in the morning and a fire alarm goes off,

and it just starts raining in your room.

And you go outside, and it's daylight.

And there's, like, a bunch of lifeguards, like,

beating up a gerbil.

And you're like, "What's happening?"

[ Laughter ]

I think that's how I'll remember this presidency.

-Yeah, that's a pretty good way to remember it.

Well, I will say that a nice escape

from everything going on in this world is this film.

This is a very funny film, "Uncle Drew."

It's also a very sweet film. -Yes.

-It's a nice film about a family.

-Yes. Yeah.

-You play, by far, the worst person in the movie.

-Thank you. Yes, I do.

-But the other people -- You know, this is Kyrie Irving.

This is Nate Robinson, Reggie Miller, Shaq,

Chris Webber, Lisa Leslie.

I mean, they're all -- these are basketball players

who are very, very funny. -Legends.

-Yeah. -And they are -- they are --

It is crazy, 'cause I decided, I was like,

"Yeah, I'd love to do this movie.

It'll be fun. I'll be funny.

Maybe I'll play some basketball with them."

It turns out that they are so much funnier

than I am good at basketball. -Right, yeah.

[ Laughter ] -Which was a huge bummer.

5 AMAZING STRATEGIES IN SPLATOON 2: OCTO EXPANSION - Duration: 7:08.

Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion was released not long ago.

Many of you had already downloaded it and started playing this DLC.

Some of you may have finished it already.

But thanks to that, we can see many players already sharing their experience on the web,

because, indeed, with more than 80 challenges to complete,

well, the way you pass you tests may be different from one person to another,

and in this video we are going to talk about various ways to pass 5 tests of this Octo Expansion.

They won't be regular ways to do so, on the contrary, we are going to focus on

players who decided no to finish it the way everybody else does, using their very own strategy.

We'll try to understand how they did it, and see if it is really that useful,

and if it is easier to play it that way than the way it is supposed to be played initially.

So, let's go! Let's begin right away with the first video.

We are going in the Station C04: Move it Move it Station, in which you have to

stay alive for 30 seconds without being touched by the sanitized ink.

This is not the hardest level but you may fail many times before succeeding,

and here, one of these strategies is to turn into your octopus shape,

and if you stay at a precise location on the field,

well, the sanitized shots will bounce above you.

Doing so, it won't be necessary to move for a fair amount of time.

But, be careful.

Not all the shots will bounce above you.

Those ink shots are bouncing, and they are bouncing on the same spots,

and all the shots are bouncing more or less at the same spots,

so if you stay here, well, it is likely that most of the bounces

will keep on bouncing above you, but some bounces won't sometimes,

so you have to be very careful.

Sometimes, some bounces will touch you if you stay still.

Here's the strategy: stay at that distance, away from your enemies.

Swim from one side to another, right and left, and if you are careful enough,

well, most of their shots will bounce above you

Try to dodge them, you know, just for fun.

But let's say, at least half of them will never get the chance to touch you

and it makes this station way easier.

For the second level of this video, we are going to the C10 Station: McFly Station

in which you have to stay alive again for 30 seconds dodging rolling balls.

Here, this player's trick is quite clever: thanks to his Ink Jet,

he manages to ink the side of the platform and being in here, well,

he has nothing to worry about and neither the rolling balls, nor the sniping octarian

are a threat to him.

Doing so, he can survive for 30 seconds vry easily, and that is really smart.

As for me, I tried to do it and it was not that simple actually,

you know, hiding in a such small ink blot on the side.

I found it easier to play this level the regular way than trying

to do this trick, but now you know that you can do it

and it's quite interesting.

For the next level, let's visit Station D02: One-Shot Station,

in which you must destroy all the crates in one rifle shot.

Well, once again, this is not the hardest level at all.

In order to pass the test, you have to get when is the exact moment

to shoot.

I realised that it works almost every time

when I aim one specific crate, the third one from the bottom and the left.

I'm aiming with my rifle the center of this crate and as soon as the balloon is here,

well, I release the pressure on the trigger, the baloons blows, and almost every single time,

well, you get it right.

But sometimes, you may have noticed that one crate remains unbroken,

and the player we are going to see found the trick, actually:

in fact, if there is one remaining crate, you still have time

to shoot one more time and blow it

before Q. Cumber realises your mistake.

So, what you must do is aiming at the balloon, and right after

get ready to shoot again at right or left bottom corner,

because it is where they are likely to fall, and if you are fast enough, well,

you can fool Q. Cumber and pass the test shooting twice.

For the fourth stage, let's visit Station E06: Swass 8-Ball Station, in which you have to line-up three 8 balls

in some sort of giant pinball machine.

You have to shoot on the balls to make them go in the holes, in order to fill three holes

all lined-up to if you want to pass the test. There is a little trick, actually:

if one ball goes in a hole, well, it's not too late to

take it back.

If you shoot again on it, especially if you shoot on its side, well, you will be able to

take it out of the hole in order to have a second chance

of putting it wherever you want it to go in.

You have to be careful though, sometimes doing so, you can eject the ball from

the pinball machine, and you will fail the test.

But it is possible to take advantage of it so that you can line up

the balls as you want.

As long as it's not the fourth ball you are trying to put in the holes,

you are still able to make them come out and try again.

For the last stage of this video, let's focus on Station J03D08: Girl Power Station

in which you have to protect the orb from an army of Octolings,

I think it's one of the hardest levels of this DLC and many people

complained about its difficulty.

Well, in fact, you can use a little strat to make it a little bit easier,

in order to do so, you have to select the curling bomb at the beginning because it will enable you

to set it up.

You will need a long range weapon which kills in one shot.

Choose the Splat Charger or the Blaster.

The strat is really simple actually, well, in theory, but really tricky to play.

At the beginning, the first seven Octolings attacking you

are in fact all lined up on the far back wall of the arena.

The idea is to go there as fast as possible, and even before

they could make any move and Super jump, well take your charger,

or your blaster, and splat them immediately.

So, you will get rid of seven Octolings very quick,

and if you do well, you will have several seconds ahead of the second

Octoling wave.

So you will be able to prepare yourself more easily, by inking the turf

and picking some shields and the right special weapons.

But you have to keep in mind a detail which makes it a bit tricky:

the Octolings can "feel" it when they're aimed at.

So, if you miss your shot with your charger or your blaster ans you don't splat them

in one shot very quickly, well, the fact that you are aiming at them for too long

will make them super jump and come way sooner than expected in the arena

and they will attack you, sometimes two or three of them at the same time, so it will be harder for you.

So you mustn't miss them and have to shoot some perfect Charger shots

that will splat them in one shot without any second try.

It really technical to do so with the Charger, you must be acquainted with it,

it is a bit easier with the blaster.

Anyways, what we are sure of is that if you succeed, seven Octolings down are

quite a relief, and you can go on without worrying about them.

Then you just have to attack the remaining Octolings and grab some

special weapons that will enable you to ink the orb so that it remains yours

until the end of the test.

That's it for these 5 strats, some are bold, and some are useful.

I hope you enjoyed this video, feel free to let everyone know by liking, sharing and

leaving a message in the commentay section.

I'm gonna make other Octo Expansion videos very soon, especially about its story,

so subscribe if you don't want to miss it.

It was EvilSquid speaking, see you soon in a next video.

Bye!

Stacey Abrams Explains Her Unique Campaign Strategy - Duration: 6:35.

-Welcome to the show. -Thank you for having me.

-Stacey! Stacey! -You got some fans here.

I know this is a very busy time for you.

Obviously, you are campaigning.

And not only are you campaigning,

but if you were to win this election,

you would be the first African-American female governor

in this country. So this is a very --

[ Cheers and applause ]

-I've heard tell. -Yeah.

-You have received national attention

for your strategy in Georgia.

You have made it clear that you are not trying to

flip Trump voters or attract Republican votes.

You are focusing on Democratic turnout

and attracting new voters.

What brought you to this strategy?

-Math. -Math, okay.

[ Laughter ]

-I mean, look. I want every vote

that I can get, but what I've seen happen

for the last few years is that you've had candidates

who pretend to be something they're not,

trying to convince those who do not agree with them

that, somehow, this time, it's real.

My approach is, every Democratic voter we can get,

especially those who don't think their voices matter,

and independent thinkers who realize they are heading down

the wrong path if they don't vote for a Democrat this time.

And there are enough of us to win an election.

-And... [ Cheers and applause ]

...is this -- Do you feel --

Is this something you get pushback on?

Do people --

At a level, maybe, at the party level, say to you, no,

that the key to moving forward is convincing people

who voted for Donald Trump that you are the answer?

-If you go back before I won the primary,

there were lots of stories about how wrongheaded I was

and how this is a novel strategy to win voters to agree with you

and to talk to voters to get them to agree with you,

and then to tell them, to agree with you, they should vote.

That is our field strategy.

And there has been some pushback because...

we want to believe that it's easier

to get those who vote all the time.

But the reality is, the people who do not vote

don't vote because we haven't given them a reason to vote.

They haven't heard their issues reflected in the candidates.

[ Cheers and applause ]

And my responsibility is to have conversations,

to talk about my personal debt,

because debt is not new in America,

to talk about the challenges my brother

who faces mental-health challenges

and drug-addiction challenges,

who's making his life anew after coming out of jail.

We need to talk about him,

because my brother is other people's brothers.

We have to talk about medical access.

[ Cheers and applause ]

And we have to talk about all of these things

so that people know there's a reason

to take time off from your second shift at your third job

to go and cast a ballot.

-Now, you do not know your opponent yet.

There is still a runoff election for the Republicans.

One of the two has this campaign ad.

-Yes. -This -- I think it was

an attempt to be humorous. The ad was that --

This was a boy who was interested in his daughter.

And in the ad, he's pointing a gun at him.

-Yes. [ Light laughter ]

-Now, when you see that, do you think, "Oh, this is great.

I'm gonna make hay with this,"

or do you look at that and go, "Oh, boy. I don't know."

-I do know him.

And what I would say is, as someone who learned how to shoot

when I was growing up in Mississippi,

the first thing you learn is you don't do that.

[ Laughter ] -Yeah.

-That Firearm 101 is, don't point it at people.

-Yeah.

-Because Firearm 102 is, you go to prison.

So, you keep it pointed down. -Yeah.

-Or, you know --

It is an interesting approach to try to convince people

they can trust you with their lives.

-Uh, yeah. That is a good way of putting it.

[ Cheers and applause ]

I want to talk about your book.

So you wrote this book, "Minority Leader."

This is about, obviously, the challenges you faced

reaching out to communities who, maybe, feel underrepresented

when it comes to the electoral process.

Not the first book you have written.

-No, it is not.

-And the other books you have written were under a pen name.

-Yes. -What was your pen name?

-So, I also wrote as Selena Montgomery.

-And what did Selena Montgomery write?

-She wrote romantic suspense novels.

[ Laughter and applause ]

-So, now, what made you --

What made you use a pen name when writing that?

-So, I wrote my first romantic suspense novel

while I was a third-year student at Yale Law School.

-Mm-hmm. -I also wrote a scintillating

article on the operational dissonance

of the unrelated business income tax exemption.

-Okay. -Whoo!

-And they were coming out at the same time.

Google was just the thing.

And it seemed to me that no one would read

a romance novel by Alan Greenspan.

-Right. [ Laughter ]

-So, I came up with a second name.

By the way, it seems like if you were writing the tax one...

-Yes. -...you wouldn't have time

to write the suspenseful romance one.

How did you multitask to get them both done?

-I'm very flexible in my writing styles.

-Okay, gotcha. [ Laughter ]

I do want to ask about "Rules of Engagement."

-Yes. -This is your first book?

-This is my very first book. -Okay.

And what was the inspiration for "Rules of Engagement"?

-My ex-boyfriend -- I read his dissertation.

He's a chemical physicist.

We were still friendly at the time he sent to me.

We're still friendly now, too. I want to be clear.

But at the time, I read his dissertation,

and he had this interesting chemical,

and it became the premise of the book.

What I decided to do was to make it a spy novel.

But I remembered I was angry with him,

so he languishes in prison

in this book for the rest of his life.

-Okay. [ Laughter ]

And did you find that cathartic?

-It was very cathartic, yeah. -Okay, gotcha.

And he didn't even know.

He was like, "I thought I was dating Stacey, not Selena!"

-Well, I did send him a copy of the book.

When I was telling him about the premise,

he was you like, "You can't. None of these things are true."

I'm like, "This is why we broke up,

'cause you have no imagination." [ Laughter ]

-Should you win, you will have you a national platform.

As a governor, from a state house,

how do you address the Trump presidency?

How do you address issues like the travel ban

that was upheld today?

-Well, I will say this -- one of the things I talk about

in "Minority Leader" is the necessity of giving voice

to those who feel voiceless.

And the travel ban is a perfect example

of why a governor is so important.

We have to have moral leadership in this country,

and people have to hear themselves talked about,

especially in the face of the abomination

that we see happening in the White House every day.

And for me, the opportunity is to use the position

of the governor, especially in the deep South,

to say, "You're welcome," that you belong,

and that there are people who are looking out for you.

And 2020 is coming. -All right.

Well, thank you so much for being here.

-Can I say one thing? -Yeah, of course.

-So, my digital team --

[ Cheers and applause ]

So, I have an amazing digital team,

and I promised them that I would, number one,

say you are so awesome and so smart.

-Oh, that's so kind of you. -And I mean it.

-Number two, I have to say StaceyAbrams.com

is my website in case people want to learn more about me.

-Okay. StaceyAbrams.com, there you go.

Nick Kroll Talks About the Sitcom Cavemen - Duration: 3:51.

-I get in the game, in the movie,

and I have like one moment in the game

where I'm supposed to, like, play.

And I was gonna show how good I was.

And I was like, "Ooh, I got a funny idea.

I'll take a sky hook" so that I could go --

And as I'm hitting, I go, "Vanilla Sky!"

And... [ Laughter ]

-The Tom Cruise film. -Yes. Of course.

Because this is obviously a movie for everybody,

but I think it's for, like --

Young kids, I think, are really excited about this movie.

And there's no more reference that kids are excited about

than a Tom Cruise film from the early 2000s,

based, of course, on the Spanish film.

-Yeah.

-If they love Tom Cruise's non-action-film catalog...

-So, "Vanilla Sky." -Yeah.

And then I go, "Magnolia!"

So, I tried it, but I didn't realize, like,

a sky hook is, like, the hardest shot to make.

Like, there's is only like -- Kareem is the only guy

in the NBA who was like, "I'll just take sky hooks."

-Right.

-Nobody else takes them, 'cause, for some reason,

they're particularly hard to make,

'cause you're kind of coming at the rim from the side.

And -- Or at least that's what I told myself,

after I missed like 8 or 9 takes in a row.

And I've got, like, NBA legends there

and 500 extras watching me be like, "Vanilla Sky!"

and keep missing the shot over and over.

And they're like, "Come on, bro.

Let's, like -- We want to go to lunch."

And, so, after one take, Nate Robinson comes up to me.

And I'm like, "Oh, good.

I'm gonna get a little advice from Nate Robinson."

He pulls me over and he goes,

"Hey, man, uh, make the shot."

I was like, "All right. Great."

-This is pretty impressive to me.

This is based on a commercial.

-For Pepsi, yes. -For Pepsi.

This is not your first based-on-a-commercial project.

-No, no.

-And I knew you back when this was a show.

You were in "Cavemen"... -Yes.

-...which was based on the GEICO commercial.

-Look at that. -Yeah.

-That's not real hair, guys.

This was all glued onto me. -There you go.

-There it is. Look at that.

The no-nonsense Nick the Caveman.

-And I want to say, I watched this show because I knew you.

-Yes.

-It was a lot better than people said it was.

-Yes. Thank you.

That should have been the log line.

-But it didn't have to be that good

to be a lot better than people said it was.

-Yes. Yes.

It was a show that the critics hated.

-Yeah.

-But what I always took comfort in

was that the public hated it, as well.

It was terrible. Four hours of prosthetics.

That's what's amazing about these guys in the movie.

is that they were in full prosthetics,

playing full basketball all day long.

And it's -- I mean, I'm telling you, like,

Kyrie is a terrific actor in this movie.

Oh, Shaq. -Shaq's great.

But this is what -- -Okay, yeah.

-This is the scariest thing ever.

This is a horror movie. -Yes.

I took this picture in the -- yes --

in the parking lot before shooting one day.

-This is old-man head, young-man body.

-Yes, this was Kyrie in the middle of

getting his makeup done.

So you can see -- Yes, he looks like

he's got an old man, like, doily kind of thing.

I don't know what they're called.

-Yeah.

-But he was -- It is truly amazing.

Like, these guys, every day,

got into like three hours of makeup

and then showed up on set and are super-funny.

Chris Webber, in this movie, as the preacher,

is hilariously funny.

Shaquille O'Neal and I are best friends.

-Congrats. -It's great.

Me and him and The General are going out tomorrow.

-Now, did Shaquille like "Cavemen"?

-Shaquille loved "Cavemen." Yes.

He never told me, personally, but I can tell --

-You could see it. -Yeah, I could tell he loved it.

-Thanks, buddy.

It's great to see you, as always.

-It's great to see you, Seth. Thanks for having me.

-Congrats on the movie. -Thank you.

Hey guys and welcome to goodness!

Today's goodness is about a single mother

who graduated Harvard Law School!

Briana Williams is a single mother,

who first went into labor

while she was doing one of her finals!

Not only did she finish her exam,

she then gave birth to her beautiful baby, Evie!

She continued to attend law school,

she would bring Evie with her to class,

or she would ask the Dean of Students

to take care of Evie until her class ended.

She even prioritized homework to do at night,

so she could spend time

with her daughter during the day!

Even though there were some days

最近好きなもの(& 嫌いなもの!?)Things I Like (and Hate) - Duration: 6:40.

Hey, kids and welcome to PDRsan's Rubbish Bin

Hey, it's editing PDRsan

Yes, I know my hair is sticking up here

but don't worry I fix it half way through the video

Today I'm going to do something a bit different

I'm usually very cynical, negative, angry, criticizing things

so today

Don't you mean Top 5 Things On The McDonald's Menu?

Shut it!

Oh, by the way

it's top 5, but they're not in any specific order

I think I've talked about him before

I really like his videos

What kind of videos does he make?

He makes comedy skits that are a bit out there

You can tell that he's a huge fan of movies by watching his videos

and he tries...unlike a lot of YouTubers in Japan

I really like how meta he is

He reminds me of me, before I lost the fire in my eyes...(so much for being positive XD)

Kids See Ghosts

This is a collab album (that only has 7 songs...) by Kanye West and Kid Cudi

To be honest

I haven't been a huge fan of Kanye's work since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

It's definitely my favorite album by him in years

and Kid Cudi

I don't want to say ten years

but I don't think he's released anything good for almost 10 years

it's good to see artists make a great comeback

I don't agree with (a lot of) what Kanye says or his opinions, but I can't deny that this is a great album

instead of putting a link to just that album

I'll make a Spotify playlist of albums I'm currently listening to (New/Stuff I just discovered/Stuff I'm revisiting) and choose one song from each album

link will be down below

I didn't even talk about what kind of albums it is...

it's a hip hop album...XD

I think it would be quicker if you just go listen to it

Yup I'm still playing this game

I'm not playing it as much as I was

My rank is currently 350

and I know people are going to ask me to show my character box

so here it is

It's a comic book

Milk and Cheese

The stories are short and pretty self contained

One story usually lasts one or two pages

If it's a special 4 or 5 pages

Anyway Milk and Cheese

are very

cynical and hate everything except for each other, booze and television (although they turn on that a lot)

Each story usually revolves around them hating something

for example

if they're pissed off at old people

they will go on a rampage and beat the shit out of old people

and usually burn the whole city down

Most of the time it ends with some place being burnt down to the ground

every story is pretty much them hating on something-beating the shit out of people-burning a town/city/place down to the ground

but for some reason it doesn't get old

and this

collects everything from 1989-2010

Sorry again

I forgot to say this in the video

it's probably pretty obvious

Milk and Cheese are

A milk carton that's alive

and a chunk of cheese that's alive

Like milk and cheese I've know about this for a while

but I didn't start watching until the end of last year?

The Eric Andre Show

Each episode of The Eric Andre Show is around 10-11 minutes

it's a parody of American talk shows

just like all the talk shows you have Eric Andre sitting at his desk

and then you have his co-host Hannibal

but as there's only one seat, when a guest comes in he always has to stand up

and the guests

I think some of them are in on it

but I wanna say half of them don't know that it's a fake talk show

and a lot of them freak out when snakes come out of Eric's cup, heads burst out of the desk or naked people randomly appear

i don't know if you can find this in Japanese

if you watch some clips, you will see why I like it so much

Also they always have musical guests, but they never perform properly

like they had Flying Lotus check his emails

and they had Henry Rollins talking about frozen yogurt

I really love this show (and I didn't even talk about all of the pranks and stuff he does outside)

and I highly recommend it (if you haven't seen it)

and those were my top 5 things I like at the moment

I'm sorry this was a mess, but I didn't write a script

and now

things I hate

Finally

I was planning on doing a separate video for that

I had a good think

I couldn't think of stuff that I hate at the moment

Oh...

the only thing I wrote down was

13 Reasons Why Season 2

but I'd say it's more like disappointment rather than hate

so I don't really have a list for things I hate

Bye!!!(^-^)

My Top 5 Favorite Things On The McDonald's Menu!!!

5

McShake

strawberry

4

McShake

banana? they have or had that at some point right

3

McShake

I thought you weren't going to do that!!!

O luna in Canada | IFMSA Experience - Duration: 10:57.

Hello everybody!

Welcome back to my channel

My name is Nina and today I'll tell you the reason I'll spend one month in Canada this summer

You will find out what it's all about, the price... in a few minutes

You are probably wondering what I am doing for one month in Canada

Couldn't I go just for one or two weeks?

The main reason why I'm going there for such a long period of time is

I.F.M.S.A

What is this I.F.M.S.A?

It is the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations

More precisely, just like its name implies, IFMSA is a federation

that brought together the associations of medical students from all over the world

So...

The Medical Students' Association from Romania...

with the one from...

Peru

Chile

Canada

USA

Argentina

Spain

Poland

All the countries gathered and formed this big federation

Different scholarships and projects are organized within the federation

And I will also participate in two of these projects

Everything started with a SCOPE exchange

SCOPE is an IFMSA department

that organizes professional exchanges between medical students from different countries

members of IFMSA

These students travel from their home town to a new country, for one month

in order to practice medicine in a hospital there

So basically, I will go to Canada for one month to work in a hospital

But let's start from the beginning

Everything started in October

when the Local Exchange Officers

posted an ad which said we were invited to see what countries are suggested for this year's exchange

Because each year there are different countries from which you can choose

And, from what I've understood, they are randomly chosen

I don't know much about this topic

But I know for sure that each year there are new countries on offer

And, very enthusiastically, I went to see what countries were on offer for this year

Some of them really drew my attention

First of all Canada

When I saw Canada was in stake I was like

"OMG! CANADA!"

It has been my dream to go there ever since I was in the first grade!

The second country that drew my attention

and which I had desired since last year

was China

When I noticed China was on offer I said to myself

"If I don't go to Canada this year, I'll definitely go to China!"

and...

my third option was South Korea

Yes! South Korea seemed like a nice offer

Chille, Peru

These two also drew my attention

And the rest of the countries on offer were from Europe

From outside Europe there were also Mexic or Brazil

Somewhere in November the application process opened

and we had to send our CV

All the CVs were examined

Each candidate received a number of points for their CV

And a final ranking was made, with all the candidates who applied

Two weeks later we applied

the selection was made

That day your summer depends on

All the candidates gathered in one lecture theater

I even took Alex with me that day to stand by my side and be my lucky charm

And the countries on offer were written on two big boards

the first person in ranking came... and circled one of the countries he/she wanted the most

Then the second in ranking chose one of the remaining countries

Then the third, and so on...

This year, I was ranked fifth

and I was super lucky to get Canada as my exchange country

I really didn't expect it

and I was really prepared to chose China or South Korea or whatever

If I hadn't got Canada

I was super super super excited!

Then...

The next steps were to...

log in the IFMSA platform and to choose the Canadian towns I would like to go to

as well as the four fields I'd like to work in

I was assigned to my first choice of town

MONTREAL!

The capital of Quebec

and also the first choice of fields

which was forensic psychiatry

I've wanted this so so badly!

It is... it was my dream to be assigned to forensic psychiatry!

Are you wondering what forensic psychiatry actually means?

Maybe not so many people are familiar with this term

Well, forensic psychiatry deals with

people who do illegal acts

but don't have discernment

So these people have a psychiatric problem

and, instead of going to jail

like a person who has discernment

they are sent to some special institutes

where they also receive psychiatric care

So basically I will spend my summer in some sort of jail

A combination between jail and hospital

The other day I looked over the site of the institute where I'll work this summer

and... I found this institute to be...

UNREAL!

The people institutionalized there have access to a pool

they have pottery classes

drama classes... music classes...

a basketball field

a volley field

So there are lots of recreational activities on offer

through which the patients can also receive therapy

So I'm talking about therapy through painting

therapy through music

therapy through acting

therapy through sports

Another aspect which I'm thrilled about is living in a student dormitory!

I will finally have the chance to live in a student dormitory

Ever since I was in the first year of college I've had this fantasy about living in a student dorm

and...

... I think that ...

living in a student dorm makes you feel like a real student

I don't know... maybe I'm wrong... I've never lived in such a place

but...

I am very excited to go there and to try this experience!

In Montreal the dorms are as following:

On each level there are several apartments

and each apartment consists of 4 rooms

or even 5 rooms

two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen

So basically these apartments are just like normal flats

And in every room there is a double bed, a wardrobe and a desk

Only one person can stay in each of these rooms

so in each apartment stay around 4-5 people

depending the number of rooms

and these people have to share two bathrooms, a common kitchen and a living room

The entrance in every room is possible just with a special card

so if you don't want to be disturbed by your flat mates

you don't have to worry because they can't get in your room if they don't have your card

Besides these apartments

there are also some common places for all the students who live in the dorm

For example in one room there are ping pong tables and other games

while in other room there is a fitness equipment

where students can make bodybuilding or they can run, cycle or do whatever they like to do at gym

I am super excited and I can't wait to arrive there and to meet all the other international students

because I won't be alone

there will also be students from many other countries

and we will live together for an entire month!

The next chapter is about fees!

What was the price of this project?

It was 250 euro

So somewhere around 1000 RON

The money included the accommodation at this dorm I've told you about for one month

one meal per day

and...

of course, the price of the project itself

But, in my opinion 250 euro for an entire month

is a really good price

The price of the flight is not payed by IFMSA

I had to buy it on my own

But I believe this might be my lucky year

because there have been introduced two new direct flights: Bucharest-Montreal and Bucharest-Toronto

So I won't be forced to stop anywhere between flights

So in just 9 hours and 50 minutes , from what I recall, I will arrive directly in Montreal

OK! I've finished talking about the first chapter: my summer medical internship

Next...

I'll tell you a funny story

Somewhere in March I saw another ad about a different IFMSA project

called SCORA XCHANGE

Just like its name implies, this project was proposed by SCORA department

this department

is different from SCOPE, of course

This department focuses on everything regarding sexuality, like...

sexual education

LGBT community

maternal health

and sexually transmitted diseases

So everything about SEX is part of SCORA department

SCORA XCHANGE is also a project where students from different university centers

travel to other countries

There, they will take part in different projects, debates,

activities

on SCORA themes

I noticed that this year Canada was on offer for SCORA XChange

and Montreal was the only town I could have applied

so I applied for SCORA XCHANGE as a participant

I sent a motivation letter

my CV

What else?...

I had to answer some questions

like... What is the perception of LGBT community in Romania?

How is sexual education viewed in Romania?

Anyway... I answered several questions

and...

I was very excited to apply to this!

And after one month they answered my application

with a "negative-positive" response, I could call it

Half negative and half positive

telling me that I wasn't accepted as participant

but the good news was that I could be a trainer for the other participants

I found this really strange

But I said OK

You want me to be a trainer?

I'll be a trainer!

I've considered this a challenge and I immediately accepted it!

So just after my SCOPE exchange ends, I will start this new chapter with SCORA XCHANGE

For the moment, my plans for Canada are...

so complexe

I want to see absolutely everything that can be seen

Montreal

Toronto

The amazing natural reserves

waterfalls

forests

lakes

mountains

I can't wait!

This was the main idea about what will happen this summer in Canada

If you liked it, please subscibe

because it would really help the channel grow

and please like this video

See you next time!

Byeee!

Have you left me a comment with your summer destination this year?

if not

do it right now!
