Hello AE family and welcome to Ayo and Ebun Entertainment.
So, I am in an important city in Turkey and it is the largest city in Turkey. Can you guess?
This is it. Konya.
I am in Kyoto Japan Park in Konya.
I don't know why there is a Japanese Park in Turkey. Maybe there is some sort of strong diplomatic ties between these countries. I am not sure.
If any of you know why there is a Japanese Park in Turkey, let us know in the comment box below.
So, here in Konya, I would be giving Turkish people a Nigerian snack.
It is called Garri.
Garri is actually common in some other countries in Africa too.
I'll be letting them have a taste of it and I would be asking them for their reactions.
Would they be able to eat it or not?
I am so curious to know what they would have to say.
Check it out.
-- Hello, how are you? -- I am fine. Thank you. And you?
I am fine too. Thank you.
I would be letting you taste a Nigerian snack. Let me know what you think about it.
I always see different foods like this on the internet and I am always curious about how it taste.
That's okay.
-- Is it helal (considered safe to eat for Muslims)? -- Yes.
It has no taste.
What else do you think?
It has no salt.
We Turkish people love salt.
-- So you like salty things? -- Yes.
According to you, is this something you can eat on a good day or not?
If I am extremely hungry, I'll eat it.
Ok. Thank you.
It is my pleasure.
That's it.
-- Brother, should I eat it?
I have no idea what this is.
How about you? What do you think?
It is so hard and difficult to chew.
It has no taste at all.
Would you eat this on a good day or not?
I would not eat it.
Can it be eaten with salt?
Sometimes, we eat it with sugar. But this is how it looks in it's raw form.
I cannot eat it.
Me too. I cannot eat it.
Hopefully, it wouldn't kill you.
Take it please.
It taste like rice.
It taste like rice made from wheat grains.
It is very hard.
I am trying to remember what it similar to in Turkish culture but I cannot remember vividly. It is quite dry.
It doesn't really have a taste.
It is saltless and has no sugar.
For me, it taste like wheat.
It is the same for me. It taste like wheat.
The taste is very different compared to our meals here in Turkey.
It is nice and different.
Here in Turkey, it seems like we can prepare this with Anchovy.
But it doesn't really have a specific taste.
Sometimes, we eat this with water. You just add water, sugar and the nuts you like. Mix it together and you are good to go.
-- Is this eaten frequently? -- Yes
-- What is it called? -- Garri.
G-A-R-R-I
-- I also want to ask you some questions. -- Ok. Go ahead.
What is your favorite Turkish food?
Iskender (It is made with meat, bread and yoghurt)
How about the Turkish food you dislike most?
Previously, it was çiğköfte but now I am used to it and I like it alot.
Right now,....hmm.... It is difficult to say the Turkish food I dislike most.
Oh ok. That would be Mercimek köftesi.
This is my last question. Are you ready?
Yes.
What is your most loved city in Turkey. Say Konya!
It is Istanbul.
He is saying that I should have said Konya.
Ok then. The answer is Konya. But my first choice is Istanbul.
Because I am already use to the living conditions there.
I am saying this just for you. My favorite city in Turkey is Konya.
I have a question to ask.
Do you think Turkish people can eat this Nigerian snack or not?
In my opinion, this snack is not spicy enough for Turkish people.
The taste is very plain.
Maybe if other things are added to eat, Turkish people might eat it.
But asides that, I think they would not eat it.
I think our Turkish mothers can prepare it with cracked wheat. And they would serve it to us in very large portions.
I don't think it is something Turkish people will prefer.
With reference to Turkish taste buds, they would not eat it.
Like I said initially, maybe Turkish people could eat it with anchovy. Asides that, it would be difficult for them to eat garri.
Maybe if they add some extra flavors to it, Turkish people might eat it.
But it doesn't have so much taste so I don't think they would eat it.
It is tasteless.
What is this used for?
-- It's a snack right? -- Yes.
But really, it is tasteless.
What else do you think?
I do not know. It taste sour too.
The taste is quite different and it is not sweet.
-- How about you? -- I'll taste it now.
I cannot taste anything.
Why doesn't it have taste?
It is tasteless.
Yes,it is tasteless now. But we sometimes add sugar and milk to it.
It has zero taste. I know I am eating it right now but it feels like I am not eating anything.
Seriously,it is tasteless.
It resembles something that is tasteless.
In Turkey, we have something known as Tarhana soup.
It is similar. But that has taste whilst this one doesn't.
Ok. So according to you, would Turkish people eat this or not?
Turkish people would not eat it.
Because in our culture, our foods are spicy.
For us to eat something, it has to be spicy.
It must have a specific taste.
Thank you so so much.
I am very curious.
Hopefully, it wouldn't kill us.
Whatever they give us, we are eating it. Now, what could this be?
--Should I taste it? -- Yes.
Have a taste too.
Would it explode?
You too can have a taste of it.
For me, it taste like cornflakes.
It taste like cornflakes.
-- Is this snack actually eaten by people? -- Yes.
How is this eaten? Like this?
Sometimes we add water, sugar and milk to it.
For me, it taste very similar to cornflakes.
Normally, would you eat this or not?
Like this, I would not eat it. But maybe if some other stuffs are added to it, I might eat it.
It has no aroma.
I do not like foods that have no aroma.
But if it has health benefits, maybe I might consider eating it.
So you can only eat it if it's healthy?
Sure. If it healthy for my body, I will eat it.But normally I would not.
On it's own, it has no specific taste.
It is tasteless.
Anyways, I cannot completely say that I cannot eat it.
Even if it's a little portion, I can eat it.
-- Thank you so much. -- You are welcome.
We wish you well in your project.
-- Is this actually eaten by people? -- Yes.
You can take just a small portion.
What is this? Are you sure this is a Nigerian snack?
Yes, I am sure.
It is called Garri.
Garri???
Would it explode in my mouth?
Of course not.
--This is a snack? -- Yes
It seems tasteless.
What else do you think?
It taste like soil.
Is this soil?
It is obviously not soil but it comes from the soil.
Do you actually chew this?
Yes
It is very strange.
It is made by grinding something that looks like a large potato.
It is very strange and different.
According to you, would Turkish people eat this or not?
But I just ate it.
But normally, would you?
There is something in Karaman region of Turkey that doesn't taste so well too. But I don't think they would even eat this.
Turkish people would not eat this.
Even if it comes out from a stone, they would not eat it.
-- Thank you so much. -- It is our pleasure.
