Hey, you alright? How you doing?
I'm good too
It's all right, all good, praise God
Today I'll be wearing glasses throughout this video
So that you can focus on my glasses instead of focusing on
My hair, which remains messy
As usual, as it usually is
Isn't it?
We're getting to the end of the year, once again
On the 11th of December I turn 25 years old
I'm happy about that
And I'm thankful to God for all that He's done so far
But that's not what I wanna talk about
You might know that the Christian life according to Jesus
Or even, let's say, according to the Bible,
Is an extremely difficult life
Isn't it? The things that Jesus calls us to live are genuinely complicated, mate
And I'm not even talking about the supernatural, healing the sick, raising the dead
But also in every aspect, right, right?
Jesus talks about leaving our lives, carrying our cross
Love our enemies, pray for those who persecute us
Forgive seventy times seven times
And then comes that moment in history, in John chapter 13
In which Jesus, seating with His disciples, tells them: I give you a new commandment
"Love one another even as I have love you" for goodness' sake
It's already hard to love my family
As Jesus has loved us
Now think about loving our fellow brothers, in communion
Who piss you off all the time
Isn't it true? It's all very complicated
Now, there's only one way to live the life Jesus' called us to live
When Nicodemus asks Jesus, He tells him: you must be born again
What does it mean to be born again? To be born of God, born of the Spirit
If you take a look at Jesus' life
His ministry doesn't start until the Holy Spirit comes upon Him
Which means that what the Bible offers us
Is a life by the Spirit
Not by accident the Bible tells us to walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit, be filled with the Spirit
Why? Because it is the only possible way
Because it is the only way to live the life that Jesus has called us to
Live life according to Christ and His commandments
We saw it in the Old Testament that God gave men the law but men couldn't obey the law
So God sends His son to abide by the law
Then He sends His Spirit to write His Law on our hearts
So the Bible tells us to live life in the Spirit
And this is the only possible way to lead a Christian life
Besides that, it is impossible, dear
It is impossible, dear
That's why I always say that it's great to jump in the Spirit, it's great to slain in the Spirit
But the real deal is living in the Spirit
And even if you live an amazing life, if you haven't been born again
You haven't done anything at all
So, it's God's life in you
Which works, which goes beyond, which must happen
It is also true that it's the Spirit who convinces man of sin
Of justice and of judgement
Even when we preach the Gospel, it will lead us nowhere if the Spirit isn't there to convince people
But here's what I really want to say about this
We always expect from the Spirit that big explosion of supernatural power
And amazing miracles
But one thing that I find really interesting, I'm reading it from the Bible
It's actually an italian Bible
It really is
And I'm gonna read for you from the Gospel of "Giovanni" [John]
Chapter 14, verse 16, it says
"He shall give you another Comforter" [KJV]
What is Jesus saying? I'm going to the Father, and He shall send another Comforter
You see: when Jesus introduces the Holy Spirit to His disciples
This is where He is talking about the Holy Spirit to His disciples
He introduces the Holy Spirit as a Comforter
See it, at this point of history, Jesus is about to go to the Cross
He will experience the most complicated time of His life
A time of loneliness, a terrible time of darkness
His disciples will leave Him, a time of pain
He's on His way to face the wrath of God
And He knew that from that moment on His disciples would face many complicated moments as well
There's a lady at the window watching me
Hello old lady
And it was necessary that there was a Comforter
I"d always seen the Spirit as power
It's obvious, it's clear, it's true
Jesus said in Luke 24:49 "you will be clothed with power"
Jesus said in Acts 1:8 "you will receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you"
It's true, it's true, it's true
There is power in the Holy Spirit, but when Jesus introduces the Spirit
He's not worried about power, He's worried about their hearts
He says "He'll send you another Comforter"
I've always looked at the Spirit to the outside, and what He could do on the outside
Forgetting that the coming of the Spirit
Would be much less about what I could do, but what He could do in me
That I, over the course of my Christian life, would have a Comforter, a Friend
Someone that would never leave me, that's why the Bible says "I will never leave you or forsake you"
Jesus said "it is good that I go to the Father, for I will pray and then He will send you the Holy Spirit"
"He will send the Comforter"
This is insane, Jesus introducing the powerful Spirit of God
He introduces Him as the Comforter
Why? Because He's the one who Comforts us, who takes us closer to the Father
The One who is with me, who is with you
I am positively sure that, when Jesus was enduring the Cross, mate
The Holy Spirit was there, reassuring me "Keep holding on"
There at the Garden, the Holy Spirit was with Him
"Keep holding on" even when the disciples left
But the Spirit remained, strengthening
"Keep calm, we'll make it through, I've been with you from the beginning"
"I was there at the testings of the devil, and we stayed strong"
"We endured the persecution, we operated miracles"
"We walked on the water, we crossed the storms"
"We're gonna finish this Cross too"
And then when Jesus died on that Cross
The Spirit of God entered Him and rose Him from the dead
The Comforter
You know, the one true friend
The one who knows you, you needn't fool the Spirit
You needn't lie to the Spirit, He knows you
Surrender yourself to the Comforter, get to know Him
More than what they could do on the outside, Jesus worried about the inside of the disciples
But check this, He says "the world doesn't know Him, but you do"
What He was saying, He didn't meant it for the whole world
He spoke to the disciples first
Jesus worried first about those who were next to Him
And the struggles they would face, you see
Jesus worries about you, mate
Your difficulties, your problems
Before you take on the world, He cares for your heart
And He sends you the Comforter
It's true, it's true that, later, we see in Acts 2
The coming of the Spirit, like a rushing wind coming from the heavens
A mighty sound and the power of God
But, prior to any of that, Jesus mentions the Comforter
And then He keeps going on the struggles of Christian life
But He was leaving someone to help us endure these struggles
See, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so that we could survive this life
We're not alone, there's someone to endure our needs, our worries
Turn that off
And walk with Jesus
And be filled with this Spirit, someone who understands our hearts
So, dude, if there's someone today to whom you can surrender your life, it's the Holy Spirit
In all of your struggles, He's the Helper, He was sent to help you
Surrender your problems, He's the Comforter
You know, this has changed me a lot lately
Because I was used to think of the Holy Spirit doing the works of God
But in here, there's plenty of things that He alone can fix
And I must trust Him
Before I turn this world upside down
"Jesus, is this the time when You will restore the Kingdom?"
the disciples asked Him
He said "Chill, chill, it hasn't been made known to you"
'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses"
"First, in Jerusalem, then Judaea, Samaria..." which means "wait until the Comforter comes"
First here, then there, then further there
Mate, before you change the world
Let Jesus change your world
Surrender yourself to the Comforter, He cares for you
In that critical moment, Jesus acknowledged it, and sent the Comforter to the disciples
The hardest moment of the lives of the disciples, they got the Comforter
This is what makes it possible to live a real Christian life, walking in the Spirit
That's why we require a faithful friend
Instead of a dictator, who treats us like robots, like machines
Someone who walks with us day by day, the Comforter
Who knows the Heart of the Father, and who knows our heart
Jesus cared for you, my friend
Get to know the Comforter, surrender to the Spirit
Let Him work on you, let Him convince you, let Him heal you
Let Him change you, so that you can change the world with Him
Right? God bless you
See see see'ya
