Waching daily May 23 2017

Good Morning

The last few days I haven't been uploading as many videos

Because we're staying at a house with no WiFi

And I don't have cell signal

So I have to go out to the door of the building to send messages

So posting videos is pretty difficult

Today we have a few different things to do, it's a pretty intense day

It's like 9 am, I'm waiting for Kat to get up

In the meantime I'm sending

messages of the day

It's like smokers that go out every 10 minutes

But my addiction is reading crap

We're on our way to Recoleta

Because some girls from Corrientes who listen to us

Wrote to me last night saying something like:

"We're going to be in Buenos Aires until such date, do you have some free time?"

I told time "Tomorrow at like 10, we're free for an hour, would you like to do something?"

So we're going to meet them, I really enjoy doing this

Especially with people who listen to us

We're here at the Recoleta Mall, our plan was to meet the girls here,

Walk around the cemetery and see the mall

Because they're from Corrientes so we figured they hadn't been

...Here

Supusimos?

I don't know, it's your language

Oh look at the pretty Julián

Doing Julián things with his thumbs and technology...

When the Julian is angry, it is very well noticed because it moves its hands in quick bitey motions

I don't have hands, I have...

The lobster things

It lobsters its lobsters to show that it is angry

Biology-knowing weirdo

And it hates the Katto

We're leaving the Recoleta Mall

Withe the girls that came

And a bee ran into my ear

And stung me and... owww

I don't know if this is morbid for some of you, and it is for us too but not so much

Because it's so touristy but...

This place is incredible

We just said goodbye to the girls

It was really nice, it was great to be able to say "bye"

it's really common when we meet someone who knows us from online

They're nervous, but like, not like "I'm going to faint" but instead don't know how to act

And they, at the end it was more like they treated us like their friends, which was nice

After eating something now we're on out way to Martin's studio

As you know, aside from a couple details, Axtell's CD is complete

We're just missing a solo and

Kat has to re-record the vocals for something

But aside from that, I'm recording a... we're going to refer to it from now on as "The Project Secret"

That's what we'll call it so when I say that you'll know what I'm talking about

We've recorded all the vocals for... I can't say, it's all for the Secret Project

But Kat sings in it, and it sounded great... Kat

A new video just came out on the Axtell channel, go to...

Axtell's channel, or I'll leave the link below, the first link below, I'm not going to forget it this time

I think today was the most productive day in the studio

I'm not going to go into details of how much or what we did because it's for the Secret Project

But we did a lot, so much

Kat sang a lot, I sang a lot, and now I have to record 2 guitar parts

A lot of people have been asking why we don't put Domingo on Spotify

And the reason is because in this exact moment I'm doing a new version of Domingo

That was intense, we spent who knows how many hours in the studio, but we worked a lot

One one hand I'm really happy because there's not much else we have left to do

For the rest of the month, in the studio

We were just talking to our friends from Demo Club

And if you haven't heard them yet at this point, I don't know what's wrong with you

I've left links, I've told you to listen, and... I forgot to leave the links, but you guys reminded me

Listen to Demo Club. They're great and eventually I'm pressuring them, as the fan I am

To release their next EP

But anyway, I talked to them, and we might be staying with them at their place for a couple of days

Some of our last days

And like I said, we're at a house in Colegiales where there's no WiFi and no cell receptions

So... our life is really sad and all we do is watch series that we downloaded on Netflix

You know what would be cool, if you recommend series for us to download on Netflix

Because we don't usually watch many series, but for like on the flight to the United States

We're going to need something good to watch

We're watching Stranger Things, Black Mirror, but we're probably going to finish them quickly

If you have something to recommend, preferrably on Netflix, and that can be downloaded

Leave them in the comments

I think I'm going to cut the episode here

Katto say "chau chau" and chasquea your fingers

Chau chau... fingers

Chasquea your fingers. Say --Chaquet --Eh, chasquear

Chaqueta [Jacket] your fingers --Chasquear

Chasquear your fingers

You know what that is? --Rub your fingers? --No.

Like, chafe your fingers? No!

Ok, that's not how it works, you need to do it with one

Do it with just one and say "chau chau!"

Like, do I do it after I say chau chau? --Yeah. --Chau chau!

The vlog was going to end but... just now the guy hosting us asked us how much time we planned to stay

When someone stays with you through Couchsurfing, you know which days on the app

Because he thought we were staying less days than we thought we had agreed on, and we checked and actually

We had until the day after tomorrow, but he said "Oh, I didn't realize... I thought it was just 2 days"

And this is like our third day and we thought we had 5

So... he told me we ad to leave tomorrow

Well, it's solvable, worst case scenario we book a hotel and we're set but... yeah, it's weird

To get that news out of nowhere

Well it had a good ending

Until this happened. But yeah, now it's done

Chau chau

Spaghetti and Meat Sauce MUKBANG (Collab) | How To Eat PASTA ON KETO - Duration: 12:16.

you guys it has been so long since I've

been in my house able to film a video

for you guys do you guys miss this

background I'm super excited to be back

as well as have this video via a collab

video with eat with mark the shark if

you guys haven't checked him out I'll

have a link in the description box below

he's phenomenal

he eats on camera like me he reached out

to me while I was actually still

visiting my mom in Japan and I I was

like oh I can't do it now but like I

really want to he post is about 1 to 2

times a week so be on the lookout I

think he is doing a seafood alfredo

which sounds super amazing so this is

the first video back from Japan that I

am actually filming I have a lot of

pre-recorded stuff I still have some

vlogs that I have to get up and some

keto recipes so look out for that I have

brought to you some spaghetti bolognaise

some or spaghetti with meat sauce this

is actually a keto meal I actually have

to go get the packaging just so I can

show you guys so one moment I actually

really love this it's the turkey

bolognese sauce from Trader Joe's it's

super cheap umm three servings and this

one package so this is a easy meal prep

idea if you're struggling to have the

energy to cook anything which has been

me lately also how can you eat pasta on

a ketogenic diet well you can't eat real

pasta obviously but there are so many

substitutes vegetables is a great

substitute I actually haven't tried that

yet um I want to try it with some squash

so that probabl happen soon but I've

been obsessed with these tofu shiitake

spaghetti shaped um things it's super

good on my macros since I am on a

ketogenic diet it only has 3 total carbs

per serving but two of them are dietary

fiber so you can actually subtract that

and it's only one card per serving I put

the whole thing in this is two servings

per package so this whole thing

with the sauce and the noodles I think

is six about eight grams of carbs and of

course to top it all off I love cheese

and that's partly why I brought the

cheese with me because I probably will

add some more some Parmesan cheese I

usually like the freshly grated one but

this is all that I had I'm completely

fine with it

cheese's cheese right okay I'm going to

stop talking and just go ahead and start

eating pitas oh my goodness I'm super

good I don't think I had spaghetti with

meat sauce and like since I've been on

keto so this will be a monument to this

moment mmm oh my goodness

trying to mix in the cheese I am going

to give you guys a bike because I'm not

stingy like that Akana you know I care

mmm oh my gosh

I'm telling you even if you're not on a

ketogenic diet if you just want to

lessen your carbs in some places this is

a great alternative to pasta and you can

hardly tell the difference the only

thing is it's a slightly different

texture but and I seasoned it just like

I would with regular pasta ethanol salt

and pepper and some garlic powder I'm

just opening up Lucroy this is my

favorite flavor Orange I've tried a

couple of other ones I tried the

cranberry one and it's okay but I keep

coming back to orange because I'm

obsessed with it okay guys so let's talk

that talk so I just got back from Japan

about a week ago today and I just went

crazy crazy crazy like I didn't mill

prep which so bad on my part

and I think I'm going to have a meal

prep video next week just that way I can

hold myself accountable so hold me here

but yes um I still stayed mostly Hedo

but there was one day that I just like

went crazy I was at the mall I got a

Cinnabon I was like man I could have

like actually film that like I wasn't

even thinking this meat sauce is so good

I used to actually buy it in college

when I was like too lazy to make my own

meat sauce because I'm such a foodie I

make like a six hour meat sauce with

like two different types of meat but I

never feel like doing that and who has

the time now it is so I've gotta love LA

guys sorry you I would definitely take

advantage of like shortcuts sometimes

especially if you are a Mill prep person

like me

oh I'm sorry guys is that super annoying

hearing it clink I always get annoyed

when I'm like editing and I hear that

I'm like dang it why did I not catch

myself I caught myself though

sorry hmm and then I do it again but yes

I've been getting up so motivated to

work out more I'm going to the gym well

not the gym going hiking because I just

do not like the traditional gym I've

never liked it so I decided to go hike

and it perfect for me I do it right

after work I don't have to think about

it but um I didn't really do a weight

loss update for you guys um but I did

gain weight from my craziness in Japan

but it's not as much as you would think

a lot I gained about two pounds most of

it I think is water weight I'm

completely fine with it because I had an

amazing time it was months of prepping

and like waiting to go there and it's

been I've been able to get back on the

keto bandwagon with no pretty easy I did

have one leg slip up but hey I'm totally

fine with that

but I think I'm going to start putting

my weight loss update on my other

channel I actually have another channel

from this that I've completely neglected

it's called Caleb handed off and I'll

link in the description box I haven't

really posted anything since I started

this channel because I've been so

passionate about this channel that I

kind of

but if you're interested in plus-size

fashion and body positivity head that

way because there will be some videos

coming your way

mmm let's just saw that I love orange

soda so this is like orange soda without

guilt like there's no sugar and

sweeteners it's literally just

carbonated water and a little bit of

orange extract and I didn't think I

would like I did not think I would be on

that Lacroix bandwagon but they got me

they got me because I love soda and I

can't let go that completely and I need

to get my water into again so but I'm so

rude I haven't asked you guys how are

you doing today

mmm

hmm oh my goodness sorry I keep like

mourning after I eat it was just so good

I haven't had spaghetti forever and if

you're new to my channel yeah you're

going to hear this again it if you stick

around with me but I'm a pasta scene I

love pasta I love ramen I love any forms

of pasta pate that's all me

so being on this diet the first thing I

have fun with something to replace pasta

I'm so happy that I found it relatively

quickly hmm but what do you guys want me

to eat next let me know in the comments

down below I have a couple things in

mind I kind of want to make a pizza

Akito friendly pizza I also interested

in like making keto friendly onion rings

and this week I'm definitely making keto

cookies like I've had such a sweet tooth

this week it's crazy to me I'm usually

like a salty chip person this week it's

been all about sugar so I just want to

make sure I'm prepared because upcoming

week it's that way I don't end up at

Cinnabon again mmm

this is so good I'm so sad it's almost

done I still have like two more servings

of sauce so I might have to eat this

again tomorrow I think it's done I think

I have to call it guys but the sauce is

so good definitely recommend if you're

buying food or Joe's picking it up

trying it out it's good on regular pasta

too I just eat all the time in college

but that can we offered this one as

always if you like these types of videos

and want me to make more muffins

definitely give me a thumbs up it helps

my channel grow and it lets me know that

you guys still like watching these as

always I'll see you guys in the next one

Oh

High Fructose Corn Syrup Has Been Quietly, Deceitfully Renamed - health - Duration: 3:50.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Has Been Quietly, Deceitfully Renamed

High fructose corn syrup is a killer.

Since humans started consuming it, obesity rates have more than tripled and diabetes

incidence has increased more than seven fold since.

Even when used in moderation it is a major cause of heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia,

liver failure, tooth decay, and more.

So what does the FDA do about this silent killer?

It allows food producers to change the name of the infamous sweeter in order to trick

consumers into thinking they are not eating high fructose corn syrup.

Thats right, high fructose corn syrup now goes by a new, deceitful name Natural

Sweetener designed to trick customers into making ill-informed choices that will

impact on their health.

Consumers are finally catching on to the fact that what we put in our mouths effects our

waistline as well as our health.

Since consumers have become much smarter and finally waking up to these realities, they

are demanding healthier food choices.

Every food company is smearing 100% natural on every box of anything regardless of whats

inside the box.

Now we have to know the new sneaky name to know whether or not we are consuming High

Fructose Corn Syrup or not.

Obviously the best way to avoid this mess is to buy from companies you really trust.

Big food companies are hiding ingredients they know we really dont want to consume

in their products.

This time its the presence of a new version of high fructose corn syrup.

But this is not the innocuous fructose that has sweetened the fruits humans have eaten

since time began.

This is a questionable ingredient with many names that could be causing all sorts of health

problems.

The product is General Mills Vanilla Chex, an updated version of the Chex cereal sold

in most conventional grocery and discount stores for many years.

The front of the box clearly states that the product contains no high fructose corn

syrup (HFCS), but turn it over to read the ingredient list and there it is the

new isolated fructose.

Why is that a problem?

According to the Corn Refiners Association (CRA), theres been a sneaky name change.

The term fructose is now being used to denote a product that was previously known

as HFCS-90, meaning it is 90 percent pure fructose.

Compare this to what is termed regular HFCS, which contains either 42 or 55 percent

fructose, and you will know why General Mills is so eager to keep you in the dark.

CRA explains:

A third product, HFCS-90, is sometimes used in natural and light foods, where

very little is needed to provide sweetness.

Syrups with 90% fructose will not state high fructose corn syrup on the label [anymore],

they will state fructose or fructose syrup.

And the way that they get away with this is fairly simple:

Simply eliminating the high fructose corn syrup designation for the laboratory sweetener

thats nine-tenths fructose and calling it what it really is: fructose.

And thats how a processed-food product like Vanilla Chex that contains fructose,

a substance that, according to the corn refiners, used to be called HFCS-90, can now declare

itself to be high fructose corn syrup-free.

Microsoft OneNote: Organizing your Notebook - Duration: 6:04.

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to part two of productivity demo

Microsoft OneNote Basics and beyond.

This is a six part demo, so please come back and

check out our other videos on this topic, or find other events and

videos at microsoft.com IT showcase.

And now, on to part two.

>> Now, that we've created our OneNote notebook

Let's talk about how we can organize our Notebook.

So we've created one brand new from scratch.

We saw how when we create a brand new notebook, it comes in with

one new section up on the top and then a page off to the right.

Well, what we want to do is we want to add additional sections.

How we organise our Notebook is how we want to organise our life.

So think of it this way, in this case,

maybe this is personal family Notebook.

Now, what we wanna do is we want to rename this sections.

What we can do is double click on each one of this section titles,

so in this case, new section 1, I can rename this to Shopping list.

That's one section within our family notebook.

I can create additional sections just by clicking on this + icon.

If I click on the + icon, you will see it will add in a brand

new section, I can add in may be this is going to be vacation ideas.

We can also add in another section, let's say Landscaping.

So we have multiple options for us here to add in some additional

sections and organize our life by those sections.

Within there, also, you can add in pages.

So you see how we have our shopping list here.

Well, we can add in additional pages just by clicking on add page.

Now, this is a pretty simple way of organizing, but,

let's say we start adding more and more sections within our notebook.

Not only do we have vacation ideas, maybe it's vacation ideas for

certain locations.

We start adding in additional items such as let's say we're going up

to Canada and then we've got Mexico travel ideas.

And then, we've got some Europe travel ideas.

So you can start to see as we add more and more sections,

it's taking up more and more space.

It's kind of hard to be a little more organized.

How we can be more organized with our sections,

is we can create section groups and organize like sections together.

So in this case, I can see that vacation ideas, Canada, Mexico and

Europe, those are all in that vacation realm.

So what I can do is I can right click off to the right of that +

symbol and create a new section group.

If I create a brand new section group,

I can title this one vacation or I can title it family vacation.

So now, I have the section group, titled family vacation and I can

include all of those destinations and those original vacation ideas.

How do I move these items into that section group?

Well, now that I can see the section group is available over here on

the right hand side, I can click and

drag each one of these items into that section group.

So now, vacation ideas is now within family vacation.

Same thing with Canada, I want to pull that over the family vacation

and the same thing with Mexico.

I want to also show you that you can do the same thing

over here on the left hand side.

So we see Europe is another vacation idea that needs to go on to that

vacation section group.

I can click on Europe, drag it down to Family Vacation,

wherever I want it to appear.

So now you can see our Family Notebook is getting a lot

more organized.

So not only do we have our shopping list and our landscaping up at

the very top, but we also have Family Vacation Ideas

off to the far right, and we're a lot more organized.

Now, within each one of these, think of a notebook in this way.

We have our notebook.

We have section groups.

Within each section group, we have sections.

And then on each section, we have pages.

Well, think of it just like a folder.

file folder.

We've got folders within folders within folders.

You can also organize pages in the same that you organize sections.

So in this case, let's say shopping list is for a birthday party.

So we're gonna type in, Birthday Party Shopping List.

So we're gonna create a brand new shopping list for

our birthday party.

What is included with that birthday party shopping list?

Well, the first thing we've got are cake ideas.

Right?

So we've got some cake ideas and

after that we need some food ideas as well and maybe some activities.

So each one of these pages

isn't still in reference to that birthday party shopping list, right?

These are things that we have to do in addition to that

original birthday party shopping list but

they are all associated to that birthday party.

So, how can we make this seem more in line with each other?

Well, we can make each of these pages a sub-page.

So that each of these pages in

reference to that original birthday party.

So, with Cake Idea,

if I right click on that page, I can then make a subpage and you'll

see it will appear right below that birthday party in a subpage.

Same thing with Food Ideas, I want this to be made a subpage and

Activities.

Now, again, we're becoming a lot more organized because now our

Birthday Party Shopping List can be expanded and reduced.

So now we've got our Birthday Party Shopping List right up there at

the top, we can expand it and see,

okay looks like we need to do cake ideas, food ideas and activities.

>> We're at the end of part two.

Seascape Necklace-Beaded Jewelry Tutorial - Duration: 10:27.

Hi there, Sandy here.

Welcome to another jewelry making video at KeepsakeCrafts.net.

During the over 400 videos I've made for you, I have made a lot of pieces that have not

been finished and I suspect you have a lot of pieces of polymer clay and experiments

and such that you haven't finished either.

So today I'm going to take one of those pieces and show you how I go about making it into

a finished piece of jewelry.

So what you're looking at here is one of five of these little bins that I just got at the

craft store to hold all of my bits and pieces of polymer clay stuff.

I actually used to have it kind of sorted into some order, but now I just chuck things

in here.

All kinds of things.

Let's see, here's another one.

Just, you might recognize some of these from videos.

Just things that I made and didn't immediately know what to do with.

Now that's cool.

I should do something with that.

Here's another one.

Again you may recognize some of these pieces.

Some of them are fails, but you can often use them for other things.

When I was looking through this I decided, "You know what, it's high time I turned one

of my favorites into a finished piece of jewelry!" and that's what I'm going to do with this

piece today.

I made this in a recent video and let me show you how I approached taking something like

this and making it into a piece of jewelry.

All of these pieces, they have to wait to be finished another day.

So actually, the very first thing I did while I was designing this piece is I chose the

bail while I was putting it all together.

And that's always a good idea to get your hardware first so to speak and then make the

other design decisions around it because sometimes you'll finish without that and then you'll

have something in mind that doesn't exist anywhere.

I've run into that problem before.

So I'm really happy with this bail with this pendant and now the decision is, "What am

I gonna do to finish it?" and I'm picturing something fairly simple, but you could just

throw a chain in there and call it done, but I want something a little bit more than that.

So what I decided was I think I just want a chain of beads on simple loops, so just

bead connectors that will accent it and frame it and just fancy it up a little bit.

So then the next decision is, "Well, what colors and what types of beads?"

So first I went into my bin of clear and white beads.

I have all of my beads organized by color.

If you want to learn more about how I sort my beads, you can look at my studio tour video

series.

And the first thing I thought was this has an ocean theme so what about pearls.

And they're pretty, but I thought they were a little too fancy.

This is more of a casual piece and the same with the crystals.

The crystals are pretty and they go with it, but they just, I thought the facets had a

bit too much glitz for me.

It just wasn't where I was going with it.

These are kinda nice, but I don't know.

I really like these frosted ones, but unfortunately this is all I have of them and they're a little

big.

I'm not sure about that.

These are kinda cool.

I like that they have a different shape.

They're sort of wonky ovals and those might be good.

So here are a bunch of beads I pulled out of my blue bin.

I love the finish on these, but something about them I think again is just a bit too

formal looking and the same with the crystals.

They're pretty, they go.

The bits of shell I like because, well again, it's a sea theme and shell, but something

about it just doesn't seem to work.

Where these are a little too formal, these are maybe a bit too casual.

I don't know!

I do like these a lot though.

I like the frosted glass and I like these crackled ones.

Now as much as I love purple, I don't care for the over use of purple.

It tends to be kinda, I don't know, almost like sickening sweet.

So I like these pearls, but I just think it's too much.

I kind of think any of the purple is too much.

I sort of like those, but again, I just think it's too much purple.

These are definitely out.

They're just way too big and kind of everything was wrong with those.

I like the chips, but again, I just, I think I'm not gonna have any purple beads on the

strand at all.

Now there are times when you're designing, when you want a bit much.

You just have to decide what it is you're going for.

So the final color that I'm considering for accenting my pendant is silver.

Now right away I can see that these, although I really like the shape and their size, the

finish is a little bit different.

It's much darker than the bird and the bail so I think I'll pass on these.

And the finish is just right on these little flowers and I kinda like the shape.

They're sort of interesting, but I don't really care for the flower representation.

This is a seascape and so I don't think it really goes.

These I like a lot!

I only have a few of these, but I think I like that pressed metal.

These I like just cause they have a different shape.

They're strung so that they look like diamonds, but again, they've got a Celtic design on

them, which I don't know, I just don't think that works.

And these are kinda cute, these little pumpkin beads and I think I like those.

The finish is good, the size is good and the more I look at these white ones, I think I'm

not even gonna use any white.

I think just the blue and the silver.

So just these will accent this pendant really nicely.

So here I've got my bead design board and I have a handful of the beads that I've chosen

and honestly, I think I'm just gonna plunk them down kind of randomly and see where they

fall.

I'm going to make about 18" of this beaded chain.

I'll fill in around the back with this bit of necklace chain so that I can make it adjustable

with my clasp.

So what you'll want to do is cut yourself a piece of wire and today I'm just using craft

wire.

This is 20 gauge craft wire.

I'm going to make these all into bead connectors just like this with a loop on each end.

Now there's 17 or so beads on each side.

That's 34, that's 68 loops.

So I'm going to do this a much quicker way than just making them with round nose pliers

and use my One Step Looper.

This will make the project go so much more quickly.

So you take yourself a long piece of wire so that you don't have any waste, 12-15" piece.

Go ahead and make a loop on one side, slide on a bead.

Slide this all the way down.

There's a little hole on that side that that wire goes through and if you want more details

about using the One Step Looper, I made a Friday Findings video about that that I will

link to in the cards on this video, which you'll find by clicking on the icon in the

upper right and in the description box.

So I'm going to pop that down and I'm gonna put this bead as close as I can to that left

hand jaw and then just squeeze and there we go.

There's my other loop.

And so you just repeat.

So when you're done, all of your beads will be like this with a loop on each side.

And then all you have to do is connect them together.

Now keep in mind with the One Step Looper, depending on the gauge of the wire you use,

the loops may not be completely closed.

So make sure you go through all of your loops and double check them.

Then just open a loop, slip on the next bead and close it.

Now if you want this to look a little bit fancier or you're using nice beads and you

want them really protected, you could do wrapped loops.

However, I could not face the thought of doing 68 wrapped loops so I just made them all simple

loops.

When you're done connecting them all it should look something like this.

You'll have a chain of beads.

So now we need to attach our bail and pendant to our beaded chain and I like to use a little

bit of fine chain.

Just pick a chain that will fit in the bail and then attach the end link of that to the

end of the beaded link of your chain at the end.

Not the end, but the one closest to the center.

Okay.

Close that up.

Slide that chain through your bail and then it's up to you to decide how much chain you

want this to hang on.

I'm not gonna have it too tight.

I might have like a couple of links showing through either end.

Notice I am not cutting the chain short yet.

This will make things much simpler.

And then you just want to attach the bead link that will go on the other side center

and I'm just gonna hold my chain and hook that in.

Close that securely.

And now you can take your wire cutters and cut off the next link of chain.

A much easier way of handling it rather than trying to manage a little tiny bit of chain.

And then carry on adding your beads to the rest of your chain.

Add a clasp to one side, perhaps add some adjuster chain to the other and we have taken

one of our pendants out of the box and put it into a finished piece of jewelry ready

to be worn or given as a gift.

You wanna splice yourself throughout time?

Exist in every single moment there ever was?

All of us aware and connected through one consciousness.

I'll be everywhere.

Every hour, every minute.

And then I will rule from The Big Bang until the end of the world.

You wanted us to build this thing.

Well why do you think I let you idiots live?

Tracy Brand trapped me in the Speed Force in the future.

All I had to do was get her to build this a little earlier,

and have my best friend make all the adjustments.

I'm not your friend.

Get to work, Francisco.

How about I sit on my ass and let you obliterate permanently from existence?

How's that sound?

That's your plan?

Do it or you'll Reverse Flash me?

Not you.

Her.

You know what I'm remembering?

Julian just got back to S.T.A.R. Labs.

He has the cure.

He can turn her back.

You can have her back.

You're so close.

But not if she's dead.

So put that mechanical genius to good work.

Make me what I need, and I will let you both go.

15 Futuristic Space Mission Concepts in 5 Minutes - Duration: 5:32.

What if we sent a lander to hop around on Pluto?

Or a pancake-shaped robot to mine asteroids for us?

Well, someday, we might.

In April, NASA announced that they'd funded 15 new space mission concepts,

as part of their Innovative Advanced Concepts program, or NIAC.

These concepts are still in the very early planning stages, so in a lot of cases,

we know more about the goals of each project

than how the researchers are going to accomplish those goals.

And at most only a few of them will ever be fully developed.

But the whole point of NIAC is funding some science fiction-y sounding ideas, and if researchers

figure out how to do them, then NASA has some amazingly useful technology.

The 15 concepts NASA's funding this year all fall into four main categories:

propulsion, exploring Mars, exploring the rest of the solar system, and asteroid mining.

One new way to propel spacecraft would involve shining a giant, 10-kilometer-wide set of

lasers from Earth to the spacecraft's solar panels, giving it enough power to travel 75

billion kilometers — more than 15 times farther than Neptune — in just 12 years.

Another group of researchers wants to take advantage of what are called Mach effects,

which is an idea in physics where an accelerating object's mass fluctuates

in tiny ways that you can use to propel it forward.

Problem is, Mach effects are still very theoretical and haven't really been proven to work yet,

but if this project works, a spacecraft propelled by Mach effects wouldn't need fuel.

NASA also funded two teams that want to build faster spacecraft that run on nuclear fusion,

where you combine two smaller atoms into a larger one.

So far, no one has been able to design a fusion reactor

that could realistically fit on a spacecraft.

We might eventually use one of these ideas to zoom around the solar system faster and

farther than ever before, but in the meantime, NASA wants to send humans to Mars.

One problem is that the pull of gravity on Mars

is less than half of what you'd experience on Earth.

And after a couple of years there, astronauts would end up with all sorts of issues, like

weak muscles and heart problems.

So this group of researchers wants to invent a sort of elevator-trampoline hybrid that

would let astronauts experience stronger gravity in short bursts,

which would hopefully keep them healthy.

Another Mars-focused concept would use genetic engineering to design microbes that would

let astronauts use Martian soil to grow crops. Kind of like what they did

in the book The Martian, but hopefully with fewer explosions.

The microbes would remove perchlorates, a kind of salt in Martian soil that makes it

hard to grow stuff, and produce ammonia to help plants get the nitrogen they need.

A third research team wants to invent a whole new kind of Mars probe: airships!

These ships would float a lot like balloons do on Earth, but instead of being filled with

helium, the insides of the airships would be a vacuum, with a /very/ low density.

The concept wouldn't work on Earth, because the pressure from our atmosphere would make

a vacuumed-out airship collapse.

But Mars has so little atmosphere that the pressure isn't strong enough to do that.

And these airships could maybe do a lot more than just float around.

They'd be able to touch down on the surface to collect data, or even transport other probes.

Now, lots of the mission concepts would explore the solar system in other ways,

like one that would send a probe to Mars's moon Phobos.

This probe would be tethered to a mothership parked about 3 kilometers above the surface,

and just kind of dangle there as it did all of its measuring.

Which might be easier than trying to actually land on a world with such low gravity:

about one 1700th of what you would experience on Earth.

Another probe would go all the way to Pluto!

The researchers want to design a lander that would take advantage of Pluto's thick atmosphere

to help it slow down and land without needing much fuel.

A third concept would launch a spacecraft to study

the way that normal matter interacts with dark energy,

which is what scientists think is responsible for the acceleration of the expansion of the universe.

Dark energy seems to make up 73% of the universe,

but we still don't really know anything about it.

There's also a team that wants to develop a super reflective material that could reflect

enough heat to keep a probe safe within 700,000 kilometers of the sun's surface.

That's about 8 times closer than we have ever been.

And yet another group wants to send a telescope outside the solar system,

where it could take advantage of the fact that the sun's gravity bends light,

and use that bending to get a much clearer picture of exoplanets than we can get from Earth.

Finally, there are three missions that would help us mine asteroids,

an idea that's been getting really popular lately.

One would send three small spacecraft into orbit around the sun,

where they would look for mining targets and asteroids that could be a threat to Earth.

Another team wants to develop a way to use the stuff mined from asteroids to create

heat shields that would protect deliveries of mined material as they fall through Earth's atmosphere.

That way, they don't actually have to ship up the heat shields.

Finally, there are the pancake space bots, which would be designed to explore small asteroids,

with a wide, flat surface to let them get a good grip.

They would also be able to anchor themselves in one spot,

to mine material from the asteroid and then toss it up to a collector out in orbit.

We've never sent any kind of probe to wander around on an asteroid,

and we've definitely never mined one.

But if this idea works, we could have whole fleets of mining bots out there someday.

So there you have it. 15 new mission concepts.

Personally, I'm rooting for the Mars farming microbes and the pancake asteroid bots,

but which of these missions are you most excited about?
