deepest darkest Birmingham

on the Birmingham and Fazeley canal

I'm really looking forward to turning at

Salford Junction I think that's going to

be exciting it's really built up and

industrial yeah so that'll be a change

of scenery for us and for you guys it

even looks I mean obviously we didn't

really travel a lot around London on the canals

Only on the Paddington Arm

And it looks a lot more built

in Birmingham than the

London that we visited so that'll be

interesting yes we're excited about that

that's tomorrow's job though today is

all about turning at Salford using a bin

using an elsan point

yeah a couple of locks to do a couple of

and that's pretty much the day we're

taking it relatively easy today because

we've got the big day tomorrow yeah we

haven't left super early and we don't

plan to

power through

anti-vandal key so she fetched it out

we actually inherited it with the boat

which was really lucky it's one of the

things we didn't throw out

years and years of boating experience

which is really good the lady in the

boat behind us is going to actually do

all of Birmingham today

anyway I'm enjoying it I know it's built

up and a bit ridiculous but kind of

enjoying the change of scenery

I'm out the front of the boat and it's

such a different feeling because you're

we're coming up to Spaghetti Junction so

excited we've got two more bridges and

then we have our Salford Junction turn

left and it's oh it's a bit windy I'm a

bit nervous

Kath will be excellent though we've got the

phone set up this time because last time

she didn't really understand my crazy

hand signals

so this time she's got an earpiece in

her ear she doesn't like you can do this

turn by yourself so it's not like I'm

pivotal to the success of the mission

you're doing really well though

Spaghetti Junction up the top it's

really weird

because you shouldn't be out of your car

when you can see the intersections up

there it's just makes me feel very small

very vulnerable

I'm just gonna say this out at the bow

because I know Kath will get across if I

say it in front of her but I have the

absolute best bravest wife ever

who is just the best driver and

traveling partner and awesomest person

in the world look at her she has no idea
