Waching daily Sep 7 2018

morning and welcome to day 5 of our

journey to bumble hole

if you watched yesterday's vlog you'll

know that we moored up early so that we

could take Alice to the vet we actually

stopped a little bit earlier than we

thought we would because it's no time by

road and another hour by boat so we

thought stop where we see somewhere to

stop and it was really handy there was a

pub there so we can we could call a cab easily

Alice is fine but we will give you a

little bit more detail when Anna Marie

emerges from I think the shower shortly

the plan for today is to get onto the

Birmingham and Fazeley Canal which is about

4 hours

it's not four hours away we're gonna do

about four hours of cruising I think

a couple of locks to go through and then

we're gonna more up on some

before we get to another batch of locks

that's the plan

we've got a couple of really big days ahead

the best one I think is gonna be going

through maybe

24 locks which will beat our daily record

Annamarie's not very

pleased about that but apparently

there's nowhere to stop between these

two lock flights so we'll see how we get

on with that That will probably be

in 2 or 3 days time

we just came out of the Glascote locks

which were really really easy because we

had a

bit of a queue to begin with and then

after the queue we had some volunteers

turn up from the waterways chaplains society

and so heads up they have some

god books on the side if you want to

read those they also have none God books

no they didn't I looked at their books

they're all God books I saw a Peter James one and he's not a God book Ok

they had people on both locks and they

were really lovely they said they

always come on a Wednesday so if that's

going to impact whether or not you go to

Glascote Locks

we're gonna go over the river Tame and

there's gonna be a little aqueduct and

then we are going to turn left I think

we're going to turn left on the Fazeley

and Birmingham canal another canal it's

awesome three canals so far this trip Three canals in one trip So far

so far is it gonna be more? there's gonna be

heaps more as we have to get into Birmingham

that's three boats in a row we're

waiting at this bridge for

Kath's doing an awesome job we just be

really basically reversing and when we

reverse our nose goes to the right

so that's the right direction for this reversing

we're just reversing out of the way and

that's kind of all you can do

if you're in a hurry you should have

bought a plane not little Lego blocks

that go on the water

this is the I think this is the fifth

one we are now reversing for No its the 4th I said they

should have all just bought one big long

wide beam and traveled together Widebeams can't come round here

It's a 70 foot then for the four of

them times maybe eight crew I was going

to go another boat but its a moored boat

so that was bridge number 76 so now

we're getting 77 and this is where the

junction is so I'm gonna go out the

front and show you all what it looks

Did you fall over?

we've just pulled over to have

some lunch and so we thought this would

be a good opportunity to update you

properly so we're not trying to navigate

our way to our new canal yeah

this canal is quite narrow compared to

the Coventry canal and it's really

beautiful but it is narrow yeah and the

bridges are a little bit narrower and

I think it's a really good

experience

Munchy vs a cyclist

I think it's a really good experience

for us and also to share with you guys

that each canal has its own feeling yeah

and I know that sounds really obvious

now that I say it but it's kind of like

each roadway has its own feeling so if

you're used to catching the m4 and then

suddenly you go on the m25 and people

drive differently roads different so I

think we've adapted to the Fazeley and

Birmingham Birmingham and Fazeley canal

now really well it's gorgeous Yeah, its gorgeous

anyway back to Alice yes so

we were concerned because Alice came

running in the other night and then went

just went to bed on our bed and then

when she moved

we saw some blood spots on the

sheet so and there was quite a few bits

so we had a quick look and checked her

over and we thought that there was some

blood on her bottom

and she was also she wasn't limping she wasn't quite herself

just was she was kind of not putting one

of her feet down sometimes and didn't

want it touched so I wasn't sure if the

where the blood completely came from to

be honest no so we is we don't check her

bottom Annamarie did some crazy google

diagnosing you say crazy I say awesome

well it was a little bit crazy she often

when anybody gets sick it's very easy to

go on google and kill them off so I said

look if we're worried about her then we

just need to take her to a vet so I had a

quick look online and found there was

two vets in the area so we went to pets

at home just because I thought because

it's a big chain that they might and

they're I've had longer opening hours

that would be more convenient for us and

we were lucky to get a same-day

appointment so we moored up and took her

along the vet checked her out and said

that it looked like her

well if you if you want to know yeah in

it let us know yeah basically they said

that the wound on her bottom was

superficial and possibly caused by her

dragging her bum along the floor over

some spikes yes and was she had a sore

bottom and she was trying to fix it herself

yeah and also she had a really small cut

on the side of one of her paw pads and

so that was probably like likely to be

the source of the blood that we found

yes and so she's got some antibiotics

just to be on the safe side because you

know the vet has to charge you something

extra and she's got some painkillers

because and she probably had a fever as

well because whenever I was she was just

He didn't take her temperature I don't know

about this vet hundred percent convinced

this was a great vet however he

diagnosed what was wrong with her we

have some painkillers for her which was

really good as soon as we gave her the

painkillers when we got home she you

could see her calm down instantly and

just take herself to bed after the trauma of taking the

oral we also had to give her a tablet

and she doesn't enjoy that so um she's

one of these cats that holds the tablet

in her mouth waits a few minutes and

then spits it out she's so clever I'll

try to get trying to work out how we can

film it because we have to give her

tablets for quite a while but she

actually pretends to have eaten it and

you can see her She also does a false gulp and then spits it out yeah so

that that's the Alice update she's not

out at the moment she's more than

happy not to go out she didn't come to

the door so you know obviously from our

other videos that when we moor up and

they will just run to the door

Munchy came but Alice didn't yeah she's she's

really happy just to sleep and we're

gonna keep monitoring her though because

you know things can get infected and she

can over groom or you know anything

really so we're just gonna keep a little

eye on her and just keep her safe and

then we've also got the luxury of the

fact that even though we've been

traveling for hours on the boat we're

probably the same distance away from the

vet yeah if you want to read more

about how we look after our pets on

board and especially in emergency I'm

going to pin a blog post to this video

that will take you to our website that

kind of explains a little bit more what

you should do if you find that you are

on a narrow boat and your cat happens to

or your pet happens to fall unwell so

I guess I'd better go post that post

Prehistoric Gigafauna: All Prehistoric Animals Over 5 Tons - Duration: 3:58.

First here's a disclaimer, a rule of thumb

There are so many animals, I'm sure to miss some. So cut me some slack because it's just a rap and we're really only here

To have fun

Going by classes. Let's start with the mammals

They're the guys who won the Chixculub raffle. Distinguished by feeding with mammary glands, they include weird critters like the elands

No, elands don't weigh five tons. It just...rhymed

Anyway, let's get on with the song shall we?

Megacerops! A perissodactyl with an attitude

Embolotherium! The head of an ice cream scoop

Paraceratherium! Biggest rhino ever on land

You can watch his BBC episode on demand

Basilosaurus a whale on the macro diet

Deinotherium an elephant made to stamp out riots

Aivukus! Avoiding

This guy is a must. He's a walrus the size of a freaking bus.

Paleoparadoxia has too many syllables

But it's a hippo and I'm far more killable. Paleoloxodon has the exact same issue

But if I complained, my coffin would be a tissue

Livyatan is the real-life Moby Dick

And just because let's name a woolly mammoth Rick. Those proboscideans are too

many to list and

the Columbian mammoth

is one of the best.

Steller's sea cow loved

chomping on kelp

The southern mammoth stomps

making you yelp

On that happy note, we're done with the mammals. Mow on to assorted reptiles. Ready, bros?

Sarcosuchus basically invented

the jump scare

Purussaurus is bigger and not as fair

Deinosuchus was a bully

and Rhamphosuchus blows

Barinasuchus just waits for their jaws to close.

Mosasaurus was on steroids in Jurassic world

Tylosaurus killed its prey with a graceful twirl

Hainosaurus is a potential synonym

Aust Colossus is so big

It's a toponym

Shastasaurus and Shonisaurus, spot the difference. Skeletal morphotypes can be based on inference

The Lilstock monster is big,

aren't many bigger

BBC Liopleurodon is missing and triggered

Kronosaurus is the Devourer of gods

Really just jealous of Smilosuchus' bod

Predator X loves the media attention

Megacephalosaurus still sulks in detention

Hey, man. We're gonna start rapping about ginormous dinosaurs and get outta here. Wanna come?

All the sauropods would take 27 days, leaving the viewer in an auditory haze

I'm gonna name a few of my favorites see if you'll survive the sauropods circuit

Brohisaurus is pretty indeterminate

like all sauropods

its size was a deterrent

Sauroposeidon's named after a merman

Epochs between the Aptian and Albian

Amphicoelias feels pretty freaking bored I would too

if conventionally ignored

Bruhathkayosaurus was lost by Yadagiri

Decayed in a drawer? What a way not to be

Nemegtosaurus belongs to Mongolian titanosauria

And just might be the same as Opisthocoelicaudia

Mamenchisaurus is famed for its giant freaky neck

Remember Alamosaurus? Migrated up from Mex

I'm sick of sauropods, let's go to thyreophorans

Stegosaurus had ossicles to protect a head that's porous

Ankylosaurus is shocked I rhymed with thyreophoran

Cedarpelta's disappointed I didn't do it again

Ceratopsians, the biggest marginocephalians

Triceratops had quills, but it sure ain't an avian

Eotriceratops was bigger, but more or less the same

My boi Torosaurus stole most of the fame

This rap is getting long and you're now impatient

So let's talk about the predatory ancients

The theropods, beast-footed, carnivore kings

Claws and teeth are their gold-plated bling

Speaking of kings, here's the Tyrannosaurus rex

Stronger and more massive than anything that's next

Carcharodontosaurus comes the closest, at more than eight and a half tonnes

Giganotosaurus is like its slightly smaller son

Spinosaurus! The crocodilian duck

Sigilmassasaurus! Built more like a truck

Anyone who cites Jurassic Park 3 is probably a liar

Just laugh and show 'em pics of Oxalaia

Acrocanthosaurus ruled with its small neural sail

Before the tyrannosaurus, Siats was the alpha male

Therizinosaurus has claws to rival Freddy Kreuger

South American Mapusaurus. What a big brute. Grrrr.

Yeah that was a struggle, but Tarbosaurus is solid

Zhuchengtyrannus is a dragon from ancient legend fallen

Chilantaisaurus is the guy the media's never heard of

And Bahariasaurus is the guy they have heard of

But decided not to talk about anyway.

I'm not bitter.

Deinocheirus, the turkey that ruled the riverside

The Maia Sauron turned a dinosaur into his eye

Tyrannotitan has one of the coolest names in all prehistory

And as for the rest? Well, we'll call it a mystery

Thank you to everyone for coming in today

Be sure to subscribe before heading on your way

Yes, there are gigafauna out there I didn't include

But I admitted that before, so see you later dudes!

Ein Job zwischen Blaulicht, Leib und Seele - Duration: 4:39.

"Wagner"

All of our company doctors must have an additional qualification in emergency treatment.

There is no other medical discipline that brings you this close to the patient

where my actions have a direct influence on the patient's life

and that is very impressive in itself.

If I dial 112 on the company site,

the call is received by the security command center,

the details are established and the emergency vehicles are notified and dispatched.

"Emergency call, fire service and rescue service – where exactly is the emergency?"

Our job is mainly to take emergency calls from employees,

but we are also there to alert the fire service

or the works security.

"Please send a physician down to Stairway 2"

Just as they are outside, off the company site,

most cases are of an internist or general medical nature.

In other words: circulation problems, heart attacks, asthma, allergies, ...

When it comes to equipment, we are

just as well equipped as the public rescue services

so that we can deal with any emergency situation.

In view of the industrial surroundings in which we operate,

we naturally also have equipment items

that enable us to counter potential dangers.

For example, we have a 'ToxBox' or kit for cases of poisoning

with which we can take corresponding countermeasures.

"Assignment for the rescue service"

"The location is Building 132"

"Unconscious person"

A very small proportion of cases are accidents,

as we fortunately have a very high standard of working safety here,

so accidents are very rare.

"I have an assignment to go to, see you later"

We work according to the so-called 'rendezvous system",

which means that if the dispatcher realizes from the catalog of emergency cases

that the emergency is so serious as to require an emergency physician,

an ambulance is alerted and drives to the location

in parallel with the emergency physician in a separate medical emergency vehicle.

The two vehicles meet at the emergency location and form a tactical unit.

We are proud of our very fast, short arrival times

in this location, between three and four minutes, and never more than seven minutes.

We are also very familiar with the layout of the site.

We know what is produced and done where, and how, and what can happen there.

After all, our job is to be there for our colleagues.

Naturally we also receive further training.

Every employee in the rescue service must take part in 30 hours of advanced training

which we partly carry out internally in our own team, as we have qualified instructors,

or arrange in cooperation with external training providers.

We always work as a team, where everyone has an assigned role

according to the level of training.

Personally I try to stay focused while

remaining relaxed enough to be fit for action.

When an emergency patient has been cared for,

we have to decide on the spot what form of care should come next.

For example, if an injury is not so serious, the patient can receive

further care from the company medical service,

or we will drive the patient to a doctor's surgery or the nearest clinic.

The division of tasks is very important, and is arranged so that

it is usually the driver who also

takes care of all the tasks relating to the case.

This means that the driver actually finds a bed in a clinic, makes a reservation and places phone calls.

"Hello, this is the rescue service at Daimler AG. We have a female patient here..."

Nowadays our ambulances are equipped with an electronic system

that shows the available bed capacity of individual clinics,

and we can also make an electronic reservation.

The golden rule is this: nobody should be afraid to call us.

It's better to call once too often than once too little.

In summary you might say that this is a job between flashing emergency lights, body and soul.

Uh oh..It's raining a lot. 0_0 [Where On Earth??/ 2018.08.22] - Duration: 12:15.

(It gets rainier and windy)

(Things are getting more serious now)

(The staff has an emergency meeting)

(Wobble)

(They can't be in the wilderness now)

(The director wants Jungnam to make the call)

(He was worried about the rain...)

Now what?

The weather will keep changing.

It'll rain and get windy...

Where can we avoid the rain?

It's raining a lot.

We have to walk for 2 hours.

If we stay on course...

We can't walk in the rain.

(Can they walk when they can't see ahead of them?)

(Or will they wait until the rain stops?)

Mr. Cho.

He's sleeping.

Mr. Cho... This isn't good. He shouldn't be asleep.

Mr. Cho.

We'll wait until 10.

- Until 10? / - We'll wait.

It's really pouring.

We'll wait until 10.

And if it's still raining, then we'll have to go.

So we should be ready by 9:30.

We'll all eat in our own tents.

We have to leave at 10.

At 10? Alright.

It's so windy.

(Brushes his teeth)

(He even applies sunscreen)

(He checks his facial hair)

(Goggles to block the wind)

(Getting into character as the captain)

(Meanwhile)

(Wake us up at 9:59)

(Slurp)

(Why is he so laid-back?)

(Relaxing)

(With some black herbal tea)

(Preparing breakfast)

(It's pouring outside)

(Carefree)

(He prepares multiple side dishes)

(And even some rice)

(His filling breakfast is ready)

(It's missing something...)

(He plays some music)

(As he listens to "Day Day" by BewhY)

(He happily eats his breakfast)

(8:40 a.m. and the rain has died down a lot)

(Jungnam goes to the staff)

We're going to leave at 9:40.

So we're leaving in an hour?

Right.

This isn't even that much rain. We should pack up.

(Goes back to brief the guys)

Taehyun. Taehyun.

The rain has died down a lot.

So while it's like this...

- Should we go? / - We should be getting ready to go.

(Now he wakes up)

Sounds good.

Is an hour enough?

Jinhee.

Yeah, I'll try to speed things up.

So we'll try to leave at 9:40.

Okay, okay.

We're leaving at 9:40.

One hour is plenty of time.

I should hurry and help the other guys.

I'll pack this later since it isn't raining now.

Got to take my tent down. My nice tent...

You guys almost done?

(Still a long way to go)

I'm done.

I'll help.

(Captain Bae is here)

It's not raining much now.

You're really doing a lot this time.

No.

I'll help.

We won't make it in time. Too much to pack.

More than yesterday? Why?

(They tidy up quickly thanks to Jungnam)

(Jungnam will always be there in times of need)

(The rain and wind pick up again )

(Scotland, Oman)

(It's either high or low humidity, never in between)

(They need this for trekking long distances!)

(They all put raincoats on!)

(Why can't he get it on?)

Where does your arm go?

(Getting help from another person...)

Where's your face?

(Here...)

Where's your neck?

(It's here)

(This magic raincoat makes body parts disappear...)

Jungnam, cover my pack with my raincoat.

(Saeho will carry one bag)

Your arm.

(Now they're really ready to go)

Man, this bag is heavy.

Are you ready to go now?

Yes, we're ready.

- Good morning. Did you sleep well? / - Yes.

It sure is raining a lot.

Things will probably get tough starting today.

According to the forecast, the weather

should be fine by lunch.

After a bit of struggling it should get better,

so don't worry too much.

You'll constantly be walking on

wetlands like this today.

So watch your ankles.

My feet are sinking. It's like the desert.

It's like I'm walking on a sponge.

This is as tough as the desert.

I feel nervous.

So where are we headed to?

We'll walk west along the coast.

That's the only way to go.

How far until the next village?

We'll have to walk 2 to 2.5 hours.

So how far is that?

(Gibberish)

What was that?

Just go!

How many kilometers?

(The village hall is 2km away)

(Day 1 base camp, Elgol hall)

Say a few words before we start for today.

Did you all sleep well last night?

(That was fast...)

Is anyone feeling unwell?

Thankfully, no.

My calves are a bit swollen, but it's fine.

Let's walk for 2 hours. How about a cheer?

- Let's go! / - Let's go!

The weather isn't nice,

but at least it's cool compared to Oman.

Alright, let's go!

Let's go!

- Which way? / - That way.

(Day 2 of their expedition, they depart at 9:40 a.m.)

My feet are sinking. I'd better not trip.

(A lot of puddles from the rain... This won't be easy)

Watch your feet.

Right here, right here.

I was trying to walk past this.

I figured it was nothing, but look how deep this goes.

(A deep marsh)

This is how deep it goes.

It's obvious that part's deep.

You can tell by looking.

Come on.

He was just curious how deep it was.

(Wobble)

- That part's deep. / - Careful.

(Some of these deep puddles are unavoidable...)

You never know when your feet will sink in.

You can't tell where the bogs are. It's nerve-racking.

(Peatlands are bogs covered in moss and shrubs)

(They form in cool places that get 230 days of rain)

We'd better watch our feet rather than the view.

- Oh, geez. / - What is it?

(Yesterday...)

(Yesterday the paths were marked, making it easier)

(They'll be bush walking today)

(Walking through dense bush and thorns)

(Great for appreciating unspoiled nature)

(They try to walk their own paths...)

Yesterday was nicer with a path.

(What's Saeho doing?)

It didn't rain yesterday,

so I thought the sky was on our side.

I don't know what we did wrong,

but the sky isn't letting us walk comfortably today.

Nice comment.

I bet you've never walked with a view like this.

Yes, that's true.

But my feet keep sinking.

- It's hard to walk. / - Right.

The heavy bag makes this tougher than the desert.

These are peatlands.

This is a common sighting in Scotland.

- So a lot of places are like this. / - Yes.

I've heard of peat when it comes to whiskey.

Yes, peat goes into whiskey.

So what's peat?

This.

- This is peat? / - Yes.

Hey, this smells like whiskey.

Try eating some.

(Opens his mouth)

They make whiskey with that?

That stuff is burned to make whiskey.

(Brief overview of peat)

(In a cold and humid place like Scotland)

(Shrubs and mosses don't break down when they die)

(The plant remains result in carbon buildup)

(Oil)

(This oily substance is peat, an early stage of coal)

(Scotland is made up of 12% peatlands)

(These dirt clumps burn well when dried)

(The Scottish have been digging it up)

(It's used as firewood)

(People that sold what they dug up)

(For the production of Scotch whiskey)

(Malt has to be dried)

(They burn peat instead of wood)

(Which gives Scotch whiskey that smoky aroma)

(It's the smell of peat)

(Base camp, starting point, Elgol, current location)

I'm all sweaty.

Let's go that way.

Where?

We have to get past that mountain.

We'll go that way.

(Let's hurry through this marsh?)

That way. We have to get over that mountain.

Captain Bae, I'm not sure

but wouldn't it be better to go this way?

(Jungnam's suggestion, Saeho's suggestion)

(They have opposing opinions)

Where are we exactly right now?

Around where?

That's the cliff right there.

Aren't we here?

Where were we at first?

Here.

I think we were here.

So this is how the path goes.

We can go this way or go this way.

This is it.

If it's wide it means the ground is flat.

This should be 500m then.

So 500m this way.

Then we'll go that way.

- It's not as high up this way. / - Yeah, go that way.

They're both the same.

Let's go this way.

- Let's go, Captain Bae. / - Let's go!

Once we get past that hill, just go straight?

We'll be there once we get over this hill.

Yeah, it'll be fast. Just get over this hill.

(Looking for a song)

(He plays some music to lift their spirits)

The box guy.

The music box.

I think it's "Departure" by Kim Dongryul.

Let's depart!

I wish the ground was like this everywhere.

Hey, the ground here is rocky.

This is easier to walk on.

(Nice music and firm footing)

(Pleased)

Welcome to the Isle of Canna! [Where On Earth??/ 2018.08.22] - Duration: 11:38.

(Where are they going?)

We're getting in that orange boat.

- So we're getting on a boat. / - Oh, that boat...

We're getting in that tiny orange boat?

So we'll have another micro adventure.

Micro adventure.

Today's micro adventure is going to

the Isle of Canna.

It's a very small island with a population of 16.

What's also interesting are the birds called puffins.

Birds.

- They live there. / - The birds are called puffins?

Puffins.

They're very beautiful.

(Puffins are popular for their colorful beaks)

(And their faces that look like they've been wronged)

They only live there and nowhere else?

They live elsewhere too, but there's a colony there.

So you might even see the babies.
