The Greeks were one of the greatest civilizations ever and for good reason.

They came up with a lot of stuff that are used till date.

Here are some of the greatest Greek inventions and some of them will definitely leave you spellbound!

16.

Olympics.

In the world of sports, there is no glory higher than winning a Gold at the Olympics.

But what many do not know is that it was the Greeks who came up with the Olympic games.

It was in the city of Olympia that these games were held at an interval of 4 years in the

honour of Zeus.

Much glory and fame were garnered by those who won these games and even their statues

were erected!

While the games have evolved over the years, many things like olive leaf crowns, lighting

of flame and the opening and closing ceremonies are things which have existed since the time

of the Greeks.

The original games lasted from 8th Century BC to 4th Century BC before it died out but

was later revived in 1894 and the modern Olympic Games came into existence in an effort to

bring the world closer with the help of sports.

A commendable thought, really, and one we owe to the Greeks!

15.

Vending Machines.

Airports, hospitals and offices would just not be the same without vending machines!

They have made managing our hunger and thirst pretty convenient and while they might look

like modern inventions, we actually have the Greeks to thank for it.

It was the Green inventor Hero who came up with the first vending machine.

It was placed in temples to dispense holy water to the worshippers.

How it worked was that a coin was dropped into a slot in the machine and it came to

rest on a metal pan.

The weight of the coin opened a valve and water would be dispensed.

The coin would then slip off due to the angle and the valve would shut again on its own!

Not to mention, it added an air of mystery as well and many would have thought that there

was some sort of magic at work here!

14.

Automatic Doors.

It is unbelievable to think that automatic doors are not a modern invention.

Well, you better believe it because sliding doors have been around since the times of

the Greeks, although they were not as common as they are today.

The Greeks invented the sliding doors for temples because it gave an added air of mystery

and wonder to them and thus helped them in furthering their polytheistic culture.

These doors worked with the help of compressed air or water and even though the designs have

become much better since then, the credit for the automatic door goes to the Greeks.

13.

Maps.

When you think of going anywhere today, you probably head up to google maps and search

for the location.

And while the technology may be vastly different, it is based on the fundamental concept of

maps.

And we have the Greeks to thank for that.

It all began with Anaximander, who started to represent entire inhabited lands that were

known to the Greeks on maps.

Before that, people just focused on sole directions, roads, etc. on maps and it was not something

that could be relied on.

So the next time you look at a map, thank the Greeks!

12.

Plumbing One of the worst things that we can imagine

is being surrounded by shit.

And it is thanks to plumbing that we do not have to face that on a day to day basis!

Well, plumbing has other benefits as well like running water and it was the Greeks who

came up with this concept.

They were exceptionally concerned with their physical cleanliness and there were many aqueducts

in Athens which brought the water from the mountains to the Greeks.

They had devised highly advanced and extensive plumbing systems which supplied water to baths

and fountains and it was even directed to storage cisterns.

11.

Lighthouses While you may not really see their significance

today, lighthouses were one of the most important things that sailors relied on.

The fire at a lighthouse let them know how far the port was and it began by placing lit

fires on raised platforms to guide the ships.

The Greeks took it to another level by building lighthouses for that purpose and the most

famous one they built was the Pharos of Alexandria.

Many ship disasters have been averted thanks to this innovation of the Greeks!

10.

Odometer.

Have you ever wondered how distances were calculated in ancient times?

Well, it was done in pretty much the same way that it is done today.

With the help of Odometers.

It was used to measure the distances between cities and some give Alexander the Great the

credit for making a systematic use of the odometer for the first time.

His armies used to measure the distances of the routes they travelled through it and thus

mapped much of the ancient world!

9.

Cranes.

The crane holds much more importance than we give it credit for.

If not for them, many of the architectural and technological wonders we know of today

would simply not have been possible.

And evidence suggests that it was the Greeks that came up with the idea of a crane.

During the 6th century BC, they invented a way to lift heavy stone blocks on to emerging

temple walls.

The holes drilled in the stone blocks that we see today are suggestive of the fact that

cranes were used to lift them!

8.

Coins.

While there were many murders and fights that happened because of coin, there is no doubting

the fact that it was one of the most important things to human civilization.

The coin was developed around 600-700 BC independently in Iron Age Anatolia and Archaic Greece.

The Greeks used coins minted from different materials and of different sizes to decide

its value before they were used to buy or trade goods.

This simple invention is something that we still see today and while notes have taken

priority over coins, it is still based on the same principle.

7.

Sinks.

It is unimaginable to think of life today without sinks.

Be it shaving in the morning, brushing your teeth or washing hands, we take it all for

granted.

But there was a time when none of this was as easy as it is today because the sink had

not been invented.

But then the Greeks came along with an invention that had running water flowing in from taps

so that people could wash both the hands at the same time.

They also used lumps of clay as soap and rubbed their hands with oil which they scraped off

using an instrument called strigil.

So, sinks along with soap and hand sanitizers were all kind of invented by the Greeks!

6.

Clock Towers.

When we think of clock towers, we normally credit it to the Europeans.

But what many of us do not know is that it was the Greeks who built the first clock tower.

The Tower of Winds in Athens was built right under the Acropolis and it served as a weather

station as well.

Its main purpose was to help the local merchants predict and decide the time for delivery of

goods and at the same time it also helped them prepare better as they got to know of

the weather conditions as well!

5.

Central Heating.

Any of us who live in cold climates would know how much of a life saver central heating

is.

And it originated from the Greeks who had a system where they would build houses where

the tile floors were supported by cylindrical pillars with some space between them.

And through this space, they would pass hot vapours through a central fire.

This vapour would spread through the house with the help of the pipes and thus warm it

up!

It was a wonderful innovation and one that is pretty much in use even today!

4.

Anchors.

If you have ever been sailing, you would know the importance of anchors.

And this simple yet effective invention can also be credited to the Greeks.

They came up with the concept of using large blocks of stone or bags of sand or wooden

logs filled with lead to keep their vessels in the harbour.

And while initially they worked simply with the help of their weight and the friction

that they generated on the ocean floor, iron was later introduced and an improvement was

made where teeth were carved into the iron so that it could grip the floor better!

3.

Showers.

There have been times in all our lives when we could have given anything for a good shower.

It is an absolutely wonderful, relaxing thing to be able to enjoy a shower after a hard

day's work.

And it was the Greeks who came up with the idea.

The obsession of the Greeks with cleanliness is well known and they were the first ones

to make showers.

The aqueducts and sewage systems they had developed allowed for water to be pumped in

and out of large communal shower rooms which were used by the elite and the commoners alike!

2.

Thermometer.

A thermometer is one of the most basic things found in almost every house today.

And the origins of the thermometer can be traced back to the Greek civilization.

It was in Alexandria that they discovered the effect of heat was that the air would

expand around it.

That gave rise to an instrument which could determine air temperature and it was Galileo

who later improved upon it by introducing a sort of scale so that the result could be

quantified.

1.

Theatre.

When it comes to plays, we often hear the word Greek tragedy.

It is one of the genres of plays and that should pretty much give you an idea how much

the ancient Greeks loved them.

And when you take that into account, there would obviously have to be a place where they

could watch the plays without being disturbed by outside noises.

So, in Athens, the theatre was born.

It played a big part in the Greek civilization where not just plays but festivals, rituals,

athletics, music, poetry and weddings were held.

In fact, the word theatre itself is derived from the Greek word theatron which means a

place for viewing.

These were just some of the things that are possible today because of the Greeks and the

least that we can say is that they were an incredible and advanced race who were culturally

ahead of the others.

2011-2014 Mustang GT SR Performance Black Cold Air Intake Review & Install - Duration: 7:09.

Hey, guys.

Today we're going to be taking a look at and installing the SR performance black cold air

intake for 2011 to 2014 GT Mustangs.

This is an open element style no tuned required intake with a powder coated black aluminum

intake tube.

It's currently the most budget-friendly option on the website so it's going to be perfect

for someone who's looking for a cold air intake that's on a budget, and for someone that prefers

the look of a powder-coated black intake tube over a chrome or polished intake tube.

All right guys, before we get to the install, we are going to talk about dyno numbers.

And I know that this is a no-tuned required intake, but we did install the intake and

pair it with the tune just so you guys can see the full power potential behind the intake.

So our baseline one with our 2011 automatic GT gave us numbers of 358 horsepower and 338-foot-pounds

of torque.

After we installed the cold air intake and paired it with the tune, we saw numbers of

369 horsepower and 359-foot-pounds of torque.

That makes for a peak gain of 11 horsepower and 21-foot-pounds of torque.

We also saw great curve gains.

We saw 18 horsepower and 24-foot-pounds of torque both at 4,000 rpm.

It cost about $150, and it's very easy to install.

I'll call it a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter.

And, of course, we'll show you how to get it on your car now.

For this install, we use a three-inch drive impact gun, a short extension, a 10-millimeter

socket, an 8-millimeter socket, and a Phillips head screwdriver.

All right.

Then we're going to remove the connections on the intake tube.

In order to do that, there's a little tab.

We'll press down on the tab and then these will release.

We'll also have to disconnect the mass airflow sensor.

There is a red locking tab on the bottom.

We'll have to pull that red tab out and then we'll be able to disconnect the sensor.

From here, there's one bolt on the fender holding our airbox in place.

That's 10 millimeters so we'll go ahead and remove that.

All right.

So now our cold air intake is ready to be removed.

So we'll go ahead and wiggle the intake tube off the throttle body and then lift our air

box out.

All right guys, so here on the table, we have the SR performance cold air intake compared

to our stock intake.

One of the main differences right away is you're switching over from a plastic intake

tube to an aluminum powder-coated black intake tube.

Your mass airflow sensor is located right here in your intake tube.

Your other big difference is actually going to be in your air box.

So you have an airbox with a stockholder intake.

You're switching over to an open element style intake with a heat route instead with the

SR performance intake.

Then, obviously, you have a cone-style reusable air filter here.

That's a little bit different than the paper filter that's located in your stock air box.

With all that being said, let's go ahead and get the SR performance intake installed on

the car.

All right guys, so the first thing we're going to do is actually transfer over our mass airflow

sensor from our stock intake into the SR performance intake.

Now your stock hardware, this should be a T20 Torx bit.

Obviously, I'm using a Phillips head because we don't have the stock hardware in our sensor

at this point, but you guys should be seeing a T20 Torx.

So SR performance also gives you new hardware for your mass airflow sensor so you don't

have to worry about saving your stock hardware.

We'll go ahead pull this out now, transfer it over to the SR performance.

The sensor is going to slide into place and, obviously, as you guys can see, your mass

airflow sensor can only install one way so just make sure everything's lined up.

All right.

So we're going to slide the smaller straight coupler on the throttle body end of the intake

tube.

Before we do that though, we are going to make sure that we get clamps in place.

We're going to leave them loose for now and then we'll tighten later when we go to install.

We're also going to get our adapter end of our air filter.

So this piece is literally just going to slide into our air filter.

We'll push it down so this is also sitting flush and then we'll tighten the clamp here.

All right guys.

So the first thing we'll do is we'll slide our shroud into place.

So there's a bolt on the frame rail that the bottom of our shroud will slide over.

And then we are going to reuse our stock bolt and bolt down to the fender here.

The next thing we're going to do is we are going to grab our bent coupler here, not the

straight coupler but the bent coupler.

And this is actually going to sit in the shroud.

You want it to be sitting like this.

So at the point of it bending, that's how much you need to slide through the shroud.

So this is larger than the hole in the shroud so what we're going to do is we're going to

work it through and get it sitting at the point where it bends.

From here, we'll grab our intake tube.

All right, before we installer our intake tube, we are just going to slide a clamp over

the coupler on both sides here just so it's ready.

And we'll grab our intake tube, and we'll slide over the coupler down here

then rotate the intake tube and slide over the throttle body.

Once everything's flush, we'll move our clamps and get them tightened down.

All right guys.

At this point, we'll tighten down our clamps.

All right.

Now we'll grab our air filter, slide that into the coupler and then tighten that clamp

as well.

From here, all that's left to do is plug in the connections in the intake tube.

All right, so we'll plug in our mass air flow sensor.

Keep in mind we have the red locking tab on the bottom.

We'll push that into place so we'll slide our connections in place, and that's all we

have to do.

All right guys.

That's going to wrap up this review and install.

Keep in mind you can always check this intake out more online.

I'm Stephanie and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

FCM 50t Mastery Commentary | ENG-Sub available - World of Tanks Blitz - Duration: 4:00.

Welcome to a new video.

Today i'm showing you a FCM 50t replay from BOT_RNG_CONFIRMED. Also i like your name. (His Channel in desc.)

His team got 3x heavies, 2x meds, 1x td and 1x light.

Same with the enemy team.

IS-3, IS, M6A2E1, FCM 50t, T-43, AMX AC 48 and the SPIC.

The enemies have the AMX 50 100, Löwe, Tiger (P), KV-13, Dracula, SU-152 and the T49.

He is at the cave right now.

He spotted the KV-13 and the T49.

T49 absolutely fluffed his shot. He managed to shoot him.

He did a good job at baiting the KV-13's shot.

He is gonna return the fire.

Unfortunately the shot went straight into the ground.

The name BOT_RNG_CONFIRMED fits this situation pretty well.

He is currently sidescraping.

But the Dracula appeard so he is being more careful now. Especially with the sidescraping.

You can't really sidescrape with the FCM that's why he is doing it at this extreme angle.

The Dracula lost half of it's HP cuz of the IS-3 and him.

Since the KV-13 was turning on the open field he hit him easily.

T49 is still on the open field so he managed to hit him too. The T49 is now running away straight back so he'll hit him again.

This might be the chance to track the T49.

Unfortunately not. But he got a nice maxroll.

281 dmg maxroll is pretty good.

KV-13 is still on the open field. The Dracula is staying there to shoot him.

Tiger (P) is staying there.

The Löwe is in the mid.

The Dracula penned him. I think he might run away now.

Since he would have gotten rushed. His team is pushing forward now.

The goose (M6A2E1) is pushing right through.

Back there the SU-152 got spotted. No wonder since it's a td.

He is going to-

They are getting flanked.

From the AMX 50 100.

He is gonna flank them now.

But he is being really careful.

That is the right decision cuz the SU-152 was waiting for him.

And another maxroll this time on the Tiger (P).

SU wants to get around but he doing a bad job driving.

He injured his driver. (Brain lag)

Tiger (P) is getting more shots.

He got a big hit from the Löwe.

He is trying- that was a snap shot.

He couldn't stay out for too long cuz of the reload of the Löwe.

He is doing a 300 dmg roll and that hurts.

He gotta take out the Tiger (P) now.

Hopefully he won't do a low roll. Perfect.

Oh the SU fluffed his shot. Now they can get him easily.

And another one. He is circeling atm.

IS-3 rammed him for cute 4 dmg.

Löwe is pushing them. I like that the IS-3 isn't dumb and wastes his 400 dmg shot on the onehit SU.

Instead for the Löwe. But that bounced.

But BOT_RNG_CONFIRMED is helping him out.

The DPM on the FCM is not the best so it'll take a while to take out the Löwe.

Maybe he can rescue the IS-3. That is close.

He did it! Even with another maxroll. Beautiful.

And he got a "Affirmative" from the IS-3. Nicely done.

They should be able to take down the KV-13 any moment now.

Any moment. Yes finally.

Good battle.

We can see the dmg up there. 4248 dmg. 225 dmg bounced.

102k credit, 3 kills and like i said 4248 dmg.

Great Mastery and High Caliber

2x more than the team did.

Great battle. Thanks for sending it in!

I hope you enjoyed the video and his replay. See you next time.

Bye bye.

Chaos in Korea (Part 2) | History of Japan 21 - Duration: 6:29.

The year was 598.

The emperor of the Sui Dynasty had a problem.

People on his eastern border were complaining that some little kingdom next door kept raiding

their towns.

The emperor was annoyed that a small kingdom would be so arrogant.

He was also annoyed that this kingdom refused to become a vassal state of the empire, instead

choosing to assert its equality.

And so the Sui emperor thought it would be a good idea to bring the might of his empire

down upon this fledgling state.

This small kingdom was Koguryo, of course.

He launched an invasion in 598.

To his surprise, his army suffered heavy losses, but it came out victorious.

The king of Koguryo was forced to join the Sui Dynasty's tributary system, making Koguryo

a vassal of the Sui.

Years later, another emperor sat on the Sui throne, and he also had a problem, and his

problem was also named Koguryo.

The kingdom of Koguryo was growing stronger, and the emperor was afraid this would encourage

dissension in neighboring states.

And so, like his predecessor, he launched a campaign against Koguryo.

He expected swift justice, but turned out he would have to invade Koguryo three times

in three years.

Invasion 1 was a disaster.

The Sui army trudged home after losing 99% of its men.

Invasion 2 also failed.

Invasion 3 was...kinda of a win, maybe?

After some fierce battles and name-calling, the Koguryo king was like,

you da boss.

Let's stop fighting and I'll swear fealty to you, I promise."

The Sui emperor accepted and withdrew his troops.

Funny enough, Koguryo never showed up afterwards to swear fealty, which pissed off the emperor,

who almost launched another invasion.

Koguryo got the last laugh though.

These invasions were so costly to the Sui that it sparked outrage and rebellions within

the empire, ultimately leading to the Sui Dynasty's decline and fall.

In 618, rebels seized the throne and founded a new dynasty, the Tang.

From these wars, we can see that Koguryo was surprisingly strong, able to hold its own

against the massive Sui Dynasty.

The new Tang Dynasty really wanted to restore China to its former glory, which included

the northern Korean Peninsula region.

But they saw what happened to the Sui and thought, "Yeah...let's not mess with Scrappy

Doo over there right now."

The Korean kingdoms were pretty welcoming to the new dynasty.

They quickly joined Tang's tributary system.

Japan eventually did too.

Tang and Japan were like new friends getting to know each other.

They excitedly sent envoys back and forth.

This was the time when Prince Shotoku sent students to China to study its culture and

government, eventually using Tang as a model for his reforms.

Things were quiet for a while, allowing Tang culture to spread to the Korean Peninsula

and Japan.

But, because you can't have nice things in this world, the Korean kingdoms started

attacking each other again, even though they were all under the Tang tributary system.

The Tang already distrusted Koguryo, thought it was too aggressive.

One day, Koguryo decided it was a good idea to build a monument to honor those killed

The Tang emperor said,

The Tang emperor said, "How dare you insult China like this" and sent forces to destroy

the monument and bring back the remains of dead Sui soldiers.

Koguryo thought, "Oops, we poked the bear again" and prepared for a Tang invasion.

They weren't taking chances.

They built more than a thousand forts and tried to patch things up with Paekche.

Koguryo and Paekche sent envoys to Japan to offer tribute and appeal for help in case

the Tang invaded.

Paekche did its favorite thing, of course, and offered a member of its royal family to

Japan as a hostage.

Everyone at the time heard the drumbeat of war in the distance, a coming war that will

change the peninsula forever.

In 643, the Tang emperor ordered Paekche and Koguryo to stop attacking Silla.

In 645, Koguryo ignored the order.

Remember, 645 was also the year of the Soga coup in Japan

Remember, 645 was also the year of the Soga coup in Japan and the beginning of the Taika

Reforms.

The Tang, like the Sui before them, learned that Koguryo was one tough puppy.

Food ran low and winter was coming, so the Tang were forced to retreat.

By 650, Silla was bloody and bruised from the beating it endured at the hands of the

other two states.

It requested aid from the Tang, who agreed, and they formed a Tang-Silla alliance.

If the leaders of Paekche, Koguryo, and Japan were each drinking a glass of water at that

moment, the water would've exploded out their mouths.

Now everyone was convinced that China wanted to take over the peninsula.

Japan enjoyed good relations with Paekche, they didn't want it to fall.

They were also terrified that the Tang would come after Japan next.

The alliance was a logical move for Silla because it had no friends in the region.

In 655, Tang and Silla kicked off a campaign against Koguryo.

The Japanese historical texts recorded an event which showed that Tang China was well-versed

in the politics of the region.

It said that around this time, Japan sent a diplomatic mission to China.

The envoys stayed in the capital and the Tang emperor received them graciously.

However, one day, the emperor had all of the Japanese diplomats arrested.

They soon dropped the charges, but forbade them from leaving the capital.

They were only released after almost a year of house arrest, or capital arrest.

When the envoys returned to Japan, they shocked the Japanese court.

Why did the Tang block the envoys from returning?

Because they didn't want them revealing what had happened earlier that year.

The Tang knew the Japanese would have sent military help to Paekche if they had heard

the news.

You see, earlier that year, Tang and Silla coordinated an invasion of, not Koguryo, but

of Paekche.

They entered the Paekche capital and ousted the ruling family.

Paekche as an independent kingdom was no more.

Hey I just wanna thank the new patrons Barry Alexander and Jed Henry, you're awesome!

you think will win after this war.

Banana Barfi | केले की हेल्दी और स्वादिष्ट बर्फी आसानी से 15 मिनट में बनाए | Chef Harpal Singh - Duration: 5:15.

Hello Greetings, My name is Chef Harpal,

I am making Banana Barfi, this barfi is very interesting,

as it is made from banana.

Banana Halwa is very famous in Kerala,

it is sauteed for a longer time till the banana caramelises.

I am simplifying this recipe,

I have taken 4 nos of Banana,

and I will blend the bananas,

we have taken 4 bananas

and we will blend it.

We have blended the banana,

pan is preheated,

add 2 tbsp of Ghee,

1 tbsp assorted nuts,

I have taken 2 tbsp of chopped almonds and raisins

now add the mixture of bananas,

saute it well,

till it is caramelized well.

It takes long time to cook so have patience

and keep sauteing or else it will stick to the pan.

Add 4 tbsp of sugar while sauteing

banana is generally sweet but I am adding 4 tbsp of sugar and will cook together.

As you are cooking,

you will see that the mixture will become

a lump of banana mixture

and slowly will stop sticking the pan.

I will also add my innovation which I generally do,

as you can see that the banana mixture have stop sticking the pan,

this is what we want.

The mixture is ready but still sticking to the pan,

it should not stick the pan and finally when it comes on the room temperature

you can easily cut & eat it.

We will do something more which will make this work easy.

The mixture is formed in a lump and it is easily leaving the pan,

now adding 1/2 tsp of Elaichi powder is important because

most of the people does not like flavor of cooked banana,

but believe me after sauteing it when you make barfi,

the texture is different and the taste is also different.

It has become a kind of lump.

Add 1/2 cup of desiccated Coconut and mix well.

The desiccated coconut is mixed well with the lump of banana.

Do not cook it for a longer time as coconut will start dropping its oil.

Most of the people also add milk,

if you want to add milk you can add in the starting.

The mixture is ready,

you can serve it in a bowl or can set it in a tray.

Grease the bowl or tray with oil, ghee or butter.

I will grease it with ghee,

if the tray is nonstick or of silicon then no need of greasing it.

Serve the Halwa mixture in the bowl & spread it.

The mixture is ready, keep it in a freezer to cool it and cut it in cubes & enjoy eating.

You can eat it hot but you will not get the shape of barfi,

so let it cool down on the room temperature for 2 hours approximately.

Then cut it into pieces & serve.

The Sketchy Truth Everyone Ignores About Papa John - Duration: 5:09.

You've seen Papa John's face in countless commercials, but what do you really know about

the man behind the pizza?

The guy you see in the commercials isn't an actor.

He's John Schnatter, and he really is the founder and one-time CEO of one of the biggest

pizza chains in the country.

He's also found himself embroiled in some pretty big controversies, including one that

led to him leaving the company.

Here are some things you might not know he's been up to lately.

Blaming the NFL

In 2017, Papa John's started down a very rocky road.

After record profits in 2016, they released less-than-stellar financial reports for the

third quarter of 2017.

Shares dropped 11 percent after the numbers went public, and the net worth of Papa John

himself dropped $70 million.

Forbes said he was still worth around $801 million, but he took the loss personally.

According to Schnatter, the losses were the fault of the NFL and their inability to resolve

the controversy around players kneeling during the national anthem.

Papa John's was the official pizza sponsor of the NFL, after all, and more in-depth reports

on ESPN showed just how much Schnatter blamed the NFL for his company's failings.

He didn't pull any punches, going on record as saying:

"Leadership starts at the top, and this is an example of [the NFL's] poor leadership."

Not long after, the long-standing relationship between Papa John's and the NFL came to an

abrupt end.

"Brutal, actually.

Stick to pizza."

Official pizza of the alt-right?

Schnatter's spat with the NFL opened a whole can of ugly worms.

It was only days later that neo-Nazi site The Daily Stormer published a piece on how

Schnatter's accusations and opinions would make Papa John's a perfect candidate for becoming

the official pizza of the alt-right.

According to Business Insider, Schnatter's comments on the NFL protests aren't the only

thing that endeared him to the alt-right, citing his donations to Donald Trump's presidential

campaign and his condemnation of Obamacare as other contributing factors.

Not surprisingly, Papa John's went into damage control mode, with an official statement to

The Huffington Post from Peter Collins, senior director of public relations.

It read, in part,

"We condemn racism in all forms and any and all hate groups that support it.

We do not want these individuals or groups to buy our pizza."

Stepping down as CEO

After 2017 proved to be a rough year for Schnatter, he announced he would be stepping down from

his position as CEO in 2018.

The move came on the heels of controversy, but according to the Chicago Sun-Times, the

Papa John's camp is keeping mum on whether or not the controversy is the reason he decided

to step down in favor of longtime COO Steve Ritchie, or if there are other things going

on behind the scenes.

Ritchie also refused to comment on the reasons behind the shake-up, simply saying,

"[It's] the right time to make this change."

He also added that Schnatter would still be the face of the company and chairman of the

board... but that didn't last long.

Resigning from the board

On July 10th, 2018, John Schnatter admitted to using some toxic language during a conference

call with a marketing company just a few months prior.

Ironically, the call was to address the backlash Papa John's was still facing, and Schnatter

shocked listeners when he was asked how he would distance himself from racist groups.

A source told Forbes he responded by using racial slurs, which he claimed were intended

to prove his stance against racism.

They had the opposite effect.

The marketing company soon ended their relationship with Papa John's, who themselves scrambled

to end their relationship with Schnatter, and Schnatter admitted it was all true in

a statement to Business Insider, saying,

"News reports attributing the use of inappropriate and hurtful language to me during a media

training session regarding race are true.

Regardless of the context, I apologize.

Simply stated, racism has no place in our society."

The ill-fated conference call still marked the end of his role as chairman of the board,

and he stepped down soon after.

Papa John sues Papa John's

In July 2018, the company was sued by its founder and namesake.

Schnatter filed a lawsuit that claimed many things, including that the company denied

him access to records and treated him unfairly.

Forbes was also mentioned in the lawsuit, with Schnatter claiming the news outlet had

"falsely accused him of using a racial slur."

Schnatter admitted that the slur had come from his mouth, but his attorney stressed

there was a difference between using it and quoting someone else who had used it… which

is what he claimed to have been doing.

The lawsuit also claimed there was some shady business going on behind the closed doors

of the boardroom, and that the company had "planned this coup in advance."

Those are some serious accusations, and when Forbes reached out to the company, they responded:

"We are saddened and disappointed that John Schnatter has filed a needless and wasteful

lawsuit in an attempt to distract from his own words and actions."

Universities are cutting ties

Schnatter's remarks have had some far-reaching consequences, and those consequences are perhaps

best seen in the damaged relationship between the pizza giant and one-time associate of

the University of Louisville.

U of L announced in July 2018 that they would be renaming their Papa John's Cardinal Stadium

to simply Cardinal Stadium, and they weren't the only ones to sever ties with the pizza-maker.

The University of Kentucky, Morehouse College, and Oregon State all ended their associations

with Papa John's.

Schnatter's own college, Ball State, has also seen some major controversy over whether or

not his name should stay, proving once and for all that sometimes, an apology just doesn't

cut it.
