Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.
I'm going to show you how to quickly create electrified text from scratch.
Before we begin, if you're not already a subscriber, click the small Subscribe button at the lower, right corner.
If I've helped you learn or improve in Photoshop, please consider helping to my support my channel
by becoming a Channel member.
Click the "Join" button below the video or click the Patreon card at the upper, right
to become a patron.
Create a new document by going to File and New.
Make the Width and Height 1500 pixels each and the Resolution: 150 pixels per inch.
The Color Mode is RGB, 8 bits per channel and the background is black.
Then, click "Create" or "Open".
Next, we'll add our text, but before we do, check your foreground and background colors.
If they're not black and white respectively, press "D" on your keyboard.
Then, press "x" to invert them.
Now, white should be your foreground color.
Open your Horizontal Type Tool and pick a font.
I'm using "Shock Therapy BB".
If you'd like to use it as well, its download link is located in my video's description
or my project files.
I made its size temporarily 142 points, but feel free to adjust it based on the font you
choose and the amount of characters in your text.
The aliasing is Sharp and Center Alignment.
Click on your document and type out your text.
To center it, open your Move Tool and press Ctrl or Cmd + A to select your document.
Click the Align Horizontal Centers icon and the Align Vertical Centers icon.
To deselect it, press Ctrl or Cmd + D.
We'll convert the text into a Smart Object, so we can modify it non-destructively.
To do this, click the icon at the upper, right corner of the Layers panel
and click "Convert to Smart Object".
Go to Filter, Stylize and Wind.
Whichever the Direction is ticked is fine.
Just click OK.
We'll increase the effect by duplicating the filter.
To do this, press Alt + Ctrl + F on Windows or Option + Cmd + F on Mac.
Then, click OK or press Enter or Return.
Next, we'll use the Wind filter again, but this time, we'll apply the effect in the opposite direction.
Open the last filter and tick the other direction.
Then, repeat it once more.
Now, that our text has a horizontal wind effect in both directions,
we'll add a vertical wind effect, as well.
First, let's collapse the effects to save space in the Layers panel.
Make a copy of the text by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + J.
Hide the original text layer and go to Edit, Transform and "Rotate 90 degrees Clockwise".
Notice the wind effect's direction is still horizontal, however, by converting it into
a Smart Object, when we rotate it back, it'll look vertical.
Convert the copy into a Smart Object
and go to Edit, Transform and "Rotate 90 degree Counter Clockwise".
Notice the wind effect is vertical.
Make the original text layer visible.
Shift-click the original text layer to make it active, as well, and convert both layers
into one Smart Object.
Go to Filter, Distort and "Ripple".
Make the Amount: 100% and the Size: Medium.
Lastly, we'll give color to our electrified text.
Click the Adjustment Layer icon and click, "Hue/Saturation".
Check "Colorize".
I'll make the Hue: 200 and the Saturation: 100.
Feel free to play with the Hue.
To see it at 100%, press Ctrl or Cmd + 1.
This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.
Thanks for watching!
