Input and output tools to level up your language skills

Wait... ANOTHER typhoon?

(the chat on input/output will start from 54 seconds in)

but before that...

That typhoon was exceptionally horrid, wasn't it? It seemed like my windows were going to break, and

there was considerable damage throughout Kobe, Osaka, and around Kansai.

Anywho, this video is about strategies for learning English (or any language), so I'm

gonna switch over to English now. Please turn on your subtitles as needed. (^^)

SEO generated a positive impact on sales"という練習文を書きました。

Time for a feast.

Budgeting For Beginners Worksheets (TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR MONEY!) - Duration: 8:02.

Having trouble budgeting?

Well, watch this video to learn what it takes to get your finances in order so you can stop

stressing about money.

Make sure you stay till the end because I'm going to give you something that will make

this whole budgeting process fast and easy for you, but before we get into it, make sure

to subscribe to my channel and hit the bell to be notified when I post a new video every

week so you can get the best tips on side hustles, money, passive income, and so much

more.

Let's face it, these days you can't accomplish your goals or dreams if you are not responsible

with your money, and I had to master the art of budgeting so that way I can put myself

through college, start my business, and pretty much take control of my life.

I want to share the top three tips you need in order to become debt free so you can focus

on more important things, so please listen up.

Tip number one, budget your savings.

Okay, so let's be honest with ourselves.

How many of us have a savings account with actual money in it?

I mean, we all have these accounts at a bank that we put money in until that 50% off sale

happens at our favorite store, but when you're trying to change up your life for the better,

savings will always come in handy.

Based on my own experience, I recommend putting a minimum of 20% of your income towards your

savings.

That savings will then split into three categories: retirement, a dream goal, and emergency in

case something happens.

Setting up your savings this way makes sure that you will always be taken care of, no

matter how things turn out, and your dream goal will keep you motivated to stay on top

of your budget even if things get tight at times.

So with that said, comment below and tell me what your goal for budgeting is.

Okay, so tip number two is compartmentalize your spending.

This can mean different things to different people.

Some people have categories of spending for shoes, clothes, entertainment, things of that

sort, and even though that's a great way of keeping track of every dollar, I don't think

it's the most efficient way.

A better idea to keep things separate is to sort your spending by having different accounts.

So use your checking account as a bill pay account, get a prepaid card to use for your

discretionary spending, like fun money, entertainment, things of that sort, and use a credit union

to put your savings there.

It'll help you from over drafting or digging into your savings.

And tip number three is to be realistic.

This one right here is a big one, and why most budgets fail.

Being real and honest with yourself is not only the best way to make a budget, but it's

also a great way to start a side hustle or a business.

You're not going to survive on a grocery budget of $10 a week, so don't even try it.

Be real with yourself in your expenses when you do your budget.

Don't make it so tight that you'll be miserable, and then you'll end up losing focus of your

bigger goal.

With that said, you don't want to make it too loose that you're overspending or not

investing in your goals, so just give yourself some discipline but don't hurt yourself.

Okay, so now it's time to show you the worksheet that I created for you guys.

All right, so the first thing that you're going to see when you click on the link that

I gave you guys is this section right here.

And before I click make a copy, I just wanted to let you guys know that in case you click

on it and nothing happens, just make sure to sign out of your account.

So when you click on it, it'll ask you to sign in.

Once you do and you click on this, then it should work.

All right, so this is the worksheet that I created for you guys, and I made it on a monthly

basis just to keep things nice and simple.

The first section that we're going to attack is the monthly income section, which is where

you're going to put how much you make per month from your job or your side hustles.

I make sure to include at least four sections for the side hustle in case you guys have

more than one, but if you don't, you could just leave it blank.

So for the sake of demonstration, I'm just going to put in some imaginary numbers.

Let's say that for my day job I'm making a total of $2,000 per month, and I just have

one side hustle where I'm making $200 per month.

Now if you look at the total monthly income section, you're going to see that it totals

it up for you, so all you really have to do is just fill in the numbers.

The math is already done, so you don't have to worry about that.

Now remember when I said that you have to put away 20% of your income towards your savings

and then splitting it into three categories?

Well you're going to find it over here in this section, and you're going to see that

20% of $2,200 is $440, and it also automatically generates the amount that you should put away

for your retirement, your dream goal, and also for emergencies.

So no need to worry about that either.

After you're done filling in the monthly income section, we're going to move to the monthly

expense section, and this is where you're going to put down everything that you pay

for.

So let's say that my rent is $700.

The light bill is $50.

Gas, let's say, is $13.

Water, I'm just going to leave it at zero, assuming that it's included within the rent.

Let's say that grocery is $150.

So, so far, the total housing amount is $913.

So now let's move on to the next section, which is car payments.

If you guys don't have any car payments, then again, just leave it at blank, but in case

you do, this is where you would fill it out.

Let's say that my car insurance is $150, and my car note is $200.

And gas, let's say it's $100.

So as you can see, the total for car number one is $450.

Now, I'm not going to fill this section out, assuming that I only have just one car payment.

I don't have two.

So we're going to keep just scrolling down to the credit card section.

I'm just going to say that I have three credit cards that I'm paying off.

On a monthly basis, card number one, I pay $50.

Next is $70, and the last one, let's say I pay $30 per month.

Again, it'll give you the total for that section right here, which comes out to be $150.

If we keep scrolling all the way down, you're going to see the total monthly expenses, which

is the total of everything that we filled out in this section, which is $1,513.

Once you're done with that, you scroll all the way up, and I also created a pie chart

for you guys so you know exactly where your money is going.

So here, from everything that we filled out, you could see that the total expenses is the

highest one, and it's in red.

The discretionary income, which is A.K.A. the fun money, is in green, and the recommended

savings is in gold.

I also included it here just so you guys can get a better visual of it.

So what this is telling you is that your fun money, you have $247 that you can spend for

this month in entertainment and things of that sort.

If you guys don't want to spend your money in fun things, then you guys can just add

it towards your savings.

Hey, the more the merrier.

Then for the total expenses, you'll see again that it says $1,513, and for the recommended

savings, again, it's $440.

I hope you guys really use this to make your life a lot easier, pay Off your bills, and

take control of your finances so that way you guys can build your business or reach

whatever goal it is that you want to reach.

So those are my three top budgeting tips.

I also included a free Fab and Focused Budgeting Worksheet, along with a step by step tutorial

on how to use it.

The links are in the description below.

Join my exclusive group called CLUB Fab and Focused, where you will meet like-minded people

to start building your side hustle or business while getting encouragement from your fellow

Fab Fam and myself.

The link is in the description below.

If you liked this video, please let me know by liking it below, subscribing, and sharing

it with your friends, and also comment with the word helpful if this video helped you.

Until next time.

I almost fell.

What's up?

I already did that.

Sorry.

Okay.

... how to take ...

[inaudible 00:07:47].

So.

That was ... Why did I say that?

he s really bright and what a creator~

yeah he is~

if he becomes a Youtuber~~ he might slaughter all the Youtuber's occupation

hahaha

give up on this job this time plz~

anyway he s called as Childish Gambino

and his Dj name is called as mcDJ

yeah things r like that and....

i found interesting stuff about him!

on Air....i mean he got the public attention since...

at age 23, he worked as a writer for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock.

NBC is pretty big right? -yeanh

and....after that...

the reason y i highlighted on this wold Atlanta is just becuz i like it!!

but unfortunately i got blamed

it hurts my hear a little bit but~~

we should go to next step~ hahah

yeah next one~

early life~

born in Cali~

wow

born in Kern County, California

what does it have to do with Edwards Air Force Base??

maybe literally he was born in Airforce camp?

maybe was his dad a soldier?

but it says his dad retired as postal worker

so....i dont know for sure but

anyone who knows ~~ plz let us know and we llt be thankful for what u tell~

Tsu mi masang [sorry in Japanese] (dont know y he said that)

and he went to NYU

yeah~ -he s probably elite~

yeah hes an intellectual

yeah worked as a writer~~ he s great anyway!

one thing i heard from the news~

he said that the album which is about to release will be the last album in his music career

really?......y? -i heard that

no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -that s the reason y this MV describes his current circumstance

really? -yeah

im expecting!! -we ll see after watching this MV

okay

let s zip it and go for the reaction!

123 Lit action!

Let s go it~ 123

i took a glimpse on this MV not the whole thing but....i mean when we r doing on the Live streaming! -me too

animated!

empty feeling~ -yeah

got some holes on his clothing

u know like....it tells us how he s heart is empty like that??

maaybe...

i dont know what summer really means in here

whether its good or bad~

inst he 21 savage? -yeah

haha

trippie redd and Lil pump i guess?

maybe not~ - looks young tho~

collec black?????? [cant understand what he's saying]

runaway after ringing the bell?

here r Migos~

nah i mean!! u press the bell and run away like no one did~ hahahaha

Migos there~

this song is so good!

something like it suits with autumn! rather than summer

oh~~smoke pollution

Birdman!! hahaha

that s Jaden smith?

probably Eminem? -does he look like Eminem?

there goes Will smith!

i have no idea who she is~

Kendall Je.. nah

oh! who r they?

left is Nicki! -no

Iggy Azalea?

probably Nicki? yeah Nicki i guess so

uhm .... hes Travis scott!

they r playing like kids

how was the music like?

its not like summer vibes

its the lonely feeling after summer is over i guess

im really curious that in western countries.....

what does "i feel like summer" mean? is that representing the feeling with empty and vacant? i have no idea~

that looks like fall season tho but im really curious about that!!

like i said!

before he ends his music career!

he shows his emotion through the MV by the time the summer ends~ maybe with analogy~

maybe yeah!! but we gotta watch more of this and decide~

let s go it!!

my catchy phrase!

here we got Weeknd and Ty dolla sign

here Asap rocky

then who's this guy?

well the left guy is absolutely Lil Pump tho -lol

right next to him is Trippy Redd

and Drake here lmao

has just the bus gone?

that's why Drake looks so tired now?

btw , the song is great -yeah it's so nice

it's nice but kinda sad at the same time -Kid Cudi here!

my favorite!

is that Kanye?

hahahah

it's Kanye isn't it?

it is... -and he's wearing the hat

the Trump hat you know the Slogan 'make America great again'

yeah i know

and michelle obbama is back at him -right what's this situation?

and i heard that there's a picture like

Michelle Obama hugging George Bush like this with same pose

ahh... so is it related to previous presidents??

I think since Kanye keep saying he's rooting for Trump these days

So Gambino is trying to criticize Kanye with this metaphor

ah so here Kanye 's crying cuz he regrets that he's rooting for Trump?

could be

ummm that's good

let's keep going! -let's Go it!

Kanye looks so sad tho lol

who's this girl?

Iggy?

Azelia?

i'm not sure

Jamie Fox?

or not

he looks like the guys in the bus in Netflix 'Atlanta' tho

yeah lol slightly

now here..

oh we got Lil yachty here

this is Gucci Mane

here we got Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa lol

and Diddy -oh

that's a lot tho lol -right

oh? are they Migos?

maybe Rea Sremmurd? oh here's J.cole -yeah J.cole

i guess... well this MV showing that Donald Glover's walking around the town full of Rap Stars -ah..

so he's trying to..

trying to say i'm leaving this field? -yeah cuz now he's so sick of this rap scene

so he keeps walking with plain face in this video

so i guess he's telling i'm leaving this rap scene -ah yeah it could be

and i think he's trying to watch the whole scene with Third-party gaze

yeah it's like ... i wanna just watch outside of the scene

I felt the series 'Atlanta' is similar with this

lol anyway, -i mean he's trying to keep watching as a third -party

ahhh okay okay

not trying to be a part of them but watch them from far away -to see objectively

okay

who are those? -have no idea

looks sad tho

face without any emotion

this character really looks alike lol

I know

I know~

whooo

hahhh as always

the song is crazy like always -is it Chris Brown?

why crying?

cuz Gambino's bout to leave

i don't know about them tho

Daft Punk?

never mind lol

oh??? Saweetie?

wow it's something like..

it's describing all of his friend

then he's leaving?

really feel so empty tho

ahh he's walking around his hood and back home

at the firs, i watched he's going out of the door

ah so it's like i'm going back ?

cuz he been there and done that

wow -I know

I know

ahhhhhhhh

aight we just watched the whole MV

i'm kinda feeling like i'm getting reverential

it's the MV that could make me think a lot

yeah... at the first i thougt it'd be bright since the tittle is 'Feels like summer' well... most of people would think like me

yeah -but it's totally different

it's opposite

and even i could feel the end of summer with this MV... some says that getting more lonely when fall's coming

yea.. -getting blue

this song is like that i guess

i'm also usually getting lonely in fall. so if i listen to this song in fall, i would be so depressed

you know the 'Greenday's song we usually listen to in Fall -ahh yeahh

i forget the name now tho

it's something like 'when september ends'??? -yeah that's right

so i'd say this gambino's song has same vibe with those kinda music

yeahhh even thought , Genres are different but the vibe they have is simila

and speaking of the MV, this video describes that Donald Glover will leave the rap scene

ahhh but..

feel bad huh? -yeah it's very bad that such talented rapper will finish his rap career very soon

i also felt bad when 'Atlanta' season 1 has finished

but i think that series will release new seasons soon

but we got chance to see him with this music during the waiting term

but i really feel bad that we would lose that chance we can listen to his new songs

but there's lot of cases that rappers are coming back after they said they would quit

who knows

wish he would come back like Jay Z

yeah he's come back lol

right he's come back right after he said he would quit

and also Lupe fiasco did

so hope he would come back

and this guy... well i think this guy has such wide musical spectrum

yeah that's right i think since he did writer before and he might have various experiences. so that's why he has such wide musical spectrum

he also can do such hard rapping but also can do soft song like Sobeer

right that's the good one

and also can do some lonely and blue songs like this.. how can i say that?

like you said he always release songs that makes people think a lot

so 'sober' is and also 'this is America'

we can guess from his recent songs

yeah it's really nice listening to such a great song -we really appreciate it

Arigato(thank you in Japanese) Gamsahapnida (thank you in Korean)

aight then i guess it's all for today

and we got one last thing we always say

if you guys like this video, press like and subscribe and alarming~~

(Sean's broken English)

hahahah aight let's finish at here 1 2 3 LIT action!!!!

but has been at welterweight

[ Bell dings ]

Garcia, well, he is 3-1 at welterweight.

Start it over! Start over!

Ranallo: And already premature ringing of the bell.

[ Bell dings ] Well, we get things started finally.

Round 1 with Danny Garcia

in the leopard, white, red and black.

Brandon Rios in the white and gold.

Bernstein: These early rounds very important for Brandon Rios.

Garcia not the quickest starter, has never been.

This is the opportunity for Rios to establish

some kind of pressure, and let's see if he can.

Ranallo: And, Paulie, Rios approaches the sport

like he's paid by the punch.

Malignaggi: He does. He loves being in a scuffle.

We'll see how fast it takes him to get into those trenches

and try to get in the trenches with Garcia,

who is a big puncher, so we'll see how excited he is

to be in the trenches with him.

Also congrats to Kenny Bayless.

You mentioned 27 years, and he's also in

the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame, he's been inducted.

So a big congrats to referee Kenny Bayless.

Ranallo: Garcia with the jab on Rios.

Again, Rios, started his career with Robert Garcia,

took a break and then reunited with him for this fight,

as Garcia attacking the body early.

Bernstein: Rios needs to get inside.

Period. End of sentence, end of paragraph.

And then work when he's inside.

If he doesn't, he loses this fight and loses it badly.

Malignaggi: But he's got to get inside not too recklessly.

Danny, not the fastest feet, but he is pretty good

on the counterpunches. Bernstein: Very much.

Malignaggi: He times you very well.

Ranallo: Garcia coming off just --

Oh, nice 1-2 combination.

The right cross landing for Garcia.

He's coming off just the 10th unification fight

in welterweight history, against Thurman,

and it was the first between unbeaten champions

since Oscar De La Hoya- Felix Trinidad back in '99,

and Garcia wants to get back to that rarefied air.

Malignaggi: Smart move by Garcia off the ropes.

He took away the space from Rios by coming in and smothering

and forcing the fight back to the middle of the ring

when they broke the clinch.

Ranallo: Al, Garcia felt he started

a little too slowly against Thurman.

We're seeing him put together combinations here against Rios.

Bernstein: He's having a very good first round,

and Rios is helping him

by being very, very slow in coming in

and not blocking a lot of some of the punches.

Ranallo: Final minute of the first round, and Rios...

Malignaggi: And you see again, Garcia, what he's doing.

You can kind of see the plan there.

When they get on the ropes, he takes away the space

from Rios, and maybe on the clinch,

take the fight back to the middle of the ring.

Bernstein: And we're going to see a lot of holding

by Danny Garcia on the inside as we're seeing now.

Ranallo: Of course pride on full display when fighters

of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent collide in the ring.

The rivalry dating back to June 1934

when Sixto Escobar stopped Mexico's Rodolfo "Baby" Casanova

in Montreal to become Puerto Rico's

first boxing champion.

Bernstein: You got some factoids going there.

Malignaggi: That's a long time. Ranallo: It's a long time.

Malignaggi: I knew that was a rivalry,

but I didn't know it was that long.

Ranallo: It's a long time, but Al Bernstein

was cub reporter at ringside.

Malignaggi: Ooh.

Ranallo: 15 seconds left

in the first round here,

and a good start for Danny Garcia.

Don't hold, don't hold.

Ranallo: Nice double left hand by Garcia.

[ Bell dings ] Time!

And, Al, you mentioned it.

Rios looks slow.

Bernstein: Yeah. Not a lot of quickness there.

Let's look at the keys to victory for these two fighters.

We'll start with Danny Garcia. Establish the jab.

He started to do that in round 1.

He needs some lateral movement, and that's exactly

what he showed in round 1.

Not moving around the whole ring,

but giving him enough lateral movement.

The left hook is his big power punch,

and he will look to land that during the course of this fight.

As for Brandon Rios, getting inside is a must.

He's got to do it without taking monstrous counterpunches,

but he's got to do it.

When he gets in, he's got to work the body of Danny Garcia.

When he's coming in, he can't square up

and allow punches to land from Garcia.

He did that some in round 1.

[ Bell dings ] Ranallo: The bell and round 2.

For Garcia, four of his five opponents at 147

have been champions.

Rios represents the 11th fighter in Garcia's last 15 fights

who has laid claim to a major title.

Rios, a former lightweight champion,

as Garcia continues to tag him with those left hooks upstairs.

Bernstein: You know, Rios threw 39 punches

in round 1 according to ShoStats.

Against Herrera, granted, a much lesser

high-echelon fighter,

he averaged 115 punches in his last round.

That's the Brandon Rios that has to be here tonight.

Maybe not that many punches, but the active Brandon Rios

that's throwing a lot of punches.

Ranallo: Garcia, huge favorite, Paulie,

but he loves to embrace the underdog role

although he still considers himself

one of the top dogs in the sport,

and rightfully so.

Malignaggi: He's obviously one of the top dogs,

but also he's got that chip on his shoulder

coming off the first loss of his career.

You know, that's going to leave you a bit angry

and leave you wanting to ponder the performance.

Bernstein: You know, Garcia's right there.

He's in that position where Rios can get to him.

Rios throwing a couple double left hooks,

but they just weren't accurate and they weren't powerful.

Malignaggi: Yeah, Rios having a hard time kind of finding

his footing in there, you know?

Like, not able to land something significant

when he does get inside.

Ranallo: When Rios is on, Al, a high-volume puncher.

Throwing in the triple digits with regularity

throughout his career when he's on,

and now picking up the pace here in round 2.

Bernstein: Nice job cutting the ring off there a moment ago.

Garcia trying to move to the right.

Garcia not known as a fighter with great footwork.

The one time we saw him really move around the ring

was against Lucas Matthysse.

Other than that, he has been more of a stationary fighter.

Ranallo: Garcia known for having one of the best chins

in the sport, connects with a combination on Rios.

Garcia told us the only time he's really been buzzed

as a pro fighter was against Zab Judah.

Malignaggi: Rios starting to up the pressure a little bit.

Bernstein: Yeah, he is.

Malignaggi: Garcia still defending very well.

Bernstein: Yes, but he's cutting him off.

He's not letting Garcia get away,

which is at least something for Brandon Rios,

and landing a nice jab.

Ranallo: Under a minute left in the second round.

[ Crowd chanting "Rios" ]

Rios lands the jab.

Crowd here in Las Vegas behind Bam Bam.

Bernstein: There's not a lot on those left hooks from Rios,

but he is getting some of them in.

Ranallo: Garcia come out to fellow Philly native

Meek Mill's "Dreams and Nightmares,"

and really, doesn't that encapsulate

the sport itself, though, Al --

the ups and downs of these two fighters?

Well, they've experienced both in their respective careers.

Bernstein: Yeah, that is absolutely true.

This is a pretty close round.

[ Bell dings ] Bayless: Time!

Ranallo: Well, it's a family affair for the Rios family.

The father of five, all of his progeny

are named after fighters, believe it or not.

And his wife in the foreground,

she helped him make weight cooking his meals.

It wasn't always the case.

He's lost titles on the scale,

and he said he never at times took that aspect seriously.

Well, you have to at this level, Al.

Bernstein: Yeah, and I think it was real when we heard that.

There's, of course, Garcia giving him instructions.

[ Indistinct conversation ]

Inside, get on the inside. Get on the inside.

Get close to him. Hit him with body shots.

Hooks, uppercuts, whatever it is.

Like we trained for, right?

[ Speaking Spanish ]

[ Whistles blows ]

Let's go.

[ Bell dings ]

Ranallo: The bell and round 3.

Garcia, coming out with a double jab,

told us that this would be a classic fight

of a boxer-puncher versus a brawler.

Both of them like to come forward.

He says that this is the kind of fight

that's going to "bring out the best in both of us."

Malignaggi: Ooh.

No, no, no, no. Let him up, let him up.

Rios started to up the pressure a little bit in that last round.

Bernstein: Yes, he did.

Malignaggi: We'll see how the shifting of Garcia...

Ranallo: Double left hook to the body by Garcia.

Malignaggi: Garcia still picking his shots very intelligently,

and getting better snap on the punches.

Ranallo: Good counterpunching here,

and then the combination upstairs by Garcia.

Malignaggi: And again, very smart.

He throws a combination and takes away the space from Rios

So that Rios can't score back or attempt to score back.

And this also deadens the pace

A slower pace is an advantage for Danny Garcia.

Bernstein: You know, Rios is starting to throw

that overhand right, which has always been

a big weapon for him.

Against Urbano Antillon

in a war he had here on Showtime,

he landed that punch ultimately and hurt him.

There it is again.

Ranallo: Overhand right by Rios,

but it didn't seem to faze Garcia.

And again, that's the question, Paulie.

With all of the hard miles on the odometer of Rios,

and again, coming --

Malignaggi: Ooh, good hook.

Ranallo: Good hook there by Garcia.

Malignaggi: Another uppercut by Rios.

Bernstein: Rios is suddenly getting leverage

on his left hook out of nowhere.

Malignaggi: Because Garcia is less shifty.

Before, Garcia was kind of shifty off the ropes,

and Rios couldn't find his footing.

Garcia becoming a little less shifty.

Ranallo: And yet Garcia still responding with the jab.

Now bouncing up and down on his feet,

and you wonder, can Rios hurt Garcia?

Bernstein: Well, Garcia is counterpunching very well,

but when Rios is more active and he's throwing

two more punches this round than Garcia,

he has a chance in this fight. He's got to be active.

Ranallo: Oh, lead right hand,

and Rios showcasing a solid chin.

Malignaggi: He's always had a great chin.

Garcia getting good leverage on his shots once again.

See, at center ring, Garcia has a pretty big advantage.

Bernstein: Yes.

Malignaggi: Obviously, you can tell the game plan

is to stay off the ropes, but at times,

Rios cutting him off does keep him there.

Ranallo: Rios's been down four times in his career.

Garcia has never been on the canvas.

One of the best chins in boxing.

Malignaggi: What a nice move off the ropes.

Nice move off the ropes by Garcia.

Once again, trying to avoid getting trapped on those ropes.

Ranallo: Oh, right hand by Rios,

clipping the jaw of Danny Garcia.

Malignaggi: One thing about these two guys

is they're two of the best chins in boxing.

I don't care how hard each guy hits,

I don't know if you'll see a lot of damage.

Ranallo: 30 seconds left. Double left hook by Garcia.

Trying to utilize some lateral movement,

but they're like magnets

attracting each other to close quarters, Al,

and they're throwing leather.

Bernstein: This is getting to be a very entertaining

fight right now.

Ranallo: I think it when it was put together, yes,

Danny Garcia the big favorite, but boxing fans felt

that, well, it's going to be entertaining

for as long as it last.

Malignaggi: Yeah, I always felt that way, too.

Styles make fights.

[ Bell dings ] Time!

[ Cheers and applause ]

I don't want that. I don't want that.

I don't want that one fucking move.

What are you working, eh?

Don't give him the fucking ropes, man.

When you're in the clinch, push this motherfucker,

be rough.

You're letting him come inside, you're being soft on him

and then you're pitty-patting with this motherfucker.

Hit this motherfucker like you hate him.

The fuck? Don't give him that shit.

Bernstein: A series of right hands kind of tells

the story of that last round to some degree.

First of all, there was Rios kind of throwing

the overhand right that wasn't great,

but it shows that that punch, he's trying

to make it into a weapon.

And then Garcia landing a very nice right hand.

A straighter right hand that was maybe

the best punch of the round.

But Rios, later on, ducking under

and coming with that overhand right.

It's always been a weapon for him,

and it landed fairly well.

That's been a lot of what he has done

over the course of his career.

[ Bell dings ] That punch has been a staple.

Ranallo: Round 4, scheduled for 12.

Danny Garcia, obviously one of the best welterweights

in the world, but there putting together

a couple left hooks to the head of Rios.

You know we live in this "What have you done

for me lately?" world, and look at his layoff,

the fact that he lost his most recent fight,

the emergence of guys like Errol Spence

and Terence Crawford, this is a critical fight

for Garcia to maintain the perception

that he belongs at or near the top.

Bernstein: He wants to show he's still

an upper-echelon fighter.

Of course the loss to Thurman was very close,

but when you stay away as much as he does

from the spotlight, be more pressure on you.

Malignaggi: Using that jab real well this round so far.

Bernstein: Yeah, and that is a key for him, as we said.

Ranallo: Gets away from the ropes, but then Rios doing

a good job of cutting him off

and keeping him on the ropes.

Trying to establish the jab.

Follows it up with a right cross.

Bernstein: You know, Rios has used his jab

more in this fight than I would have expected.

Ranallo: Oh, good combination from Rios.

Malignaggi: Back goes Garcia using the jab.

Ranallo: And the action heating up in this fourth round.

[ Crowd chanting "Rios" ]

Chants of "Rios" filling up the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Lead right hand by Garcia.

Bernstein: As a welterweight,

Rios has not been a huge puncher.

He was as a lightweight,

but when he's active, he can put

a lot of pressure on you, and that's kind of

what he's doing to Danny Garcia right now.

Ranallo: 24 of Rios' 34 victories,

coming via form of knockout.

For Garcia, 19 of his 33 wins

have come inside the distance.

Bernstein: The right hand of Garcia,

he's landed some good straight right hands.

Ranallo: Right hand to the body, right uppercut by Rios.

Malignaggi: Lot of the shots Garcia's throwing

don't have a lot of weight on it but they have good snap.

He's more sharpshooting Rios, trying to outscore him

and outpoint him.

Ranallo: Has Brandon Rios surprised you at all,

Paulie, in this fight?

Malignaggi: No. I mean, he's doing what I thought he would.

He's starting to get his footing a little bit

and landing a more couple shots, but also the Garcia game plan

is also working well.

I think right now, he's looking to cook Rios

and try to maybe deaden him for later on in rounds,

because he's not putting a lot of weight on his shots,

but there's good snap and he's more sharpshooting.

Ranallo: To clarify then, Al. Is this what you would expected?

Bernstein: Yeah, in some respects.

Look at that right hand Oh, my.

Garcia landing two great right hands,

and Rios keeps coming.

Malignaggi: Rios gets mad at you instead of getting hurt.

It's crazy.

Bernstein: Danny Garcia is the technically

more proficient fighter, let's face it, by a lot.

But Rios has toughness.

Ranallo: Right hand by Garcia tagged Rios, and Rios smiled.

Of course he did.

Malignaggi: Garcia found something with that right hand this round.

He landed a bunch of them.

Ranallo: Action-packed fourth frame

between Garcia and Rios here at 147.

[ Bell dings ] Time!

[ Cheers and applause ]

[ Indistinct conversation ]

When he starts landing punches and you just don't care,

you don't have to show him that you can take a punch.

No. You got to move your head.

[ Speaking Spanish ]

Bernstein: Danny Garcia's right hand, as Paulie said,

was really discovered in the last round.

Good lead right hand.

And, of course, that's been Brandon Rios'

issue in life, his defense.

This one a different kind of right hand.

Not a straight right hand, but the looping kind

of right hand that we saw

David Benavidez throw so much in the last fight.

Fuck that -- Keep your left hand up.

Keep your motherfucking left hand up.

Ranallo: Danny's father, Angel Garcia,

barking out instructions as we begin round 5.

Bernstein: Remember, Garcia oftentimes

has some issues in early rounds, and as fights pick up --

he did it against Thurman,

he's done it in many of his fights --

he tends to get his rhythm.

Ranallo: Yeah, and he's obviously known for his power,

but at welterweight, he's scored only the one knockdown.

Bernstein: That's right. Absolutely.

Ranallo: And that was against Samuel Vargas,

who, let's face it, was overmatched.

Bernstein: Exactly.

At 140, he had more power.

At this weight, like Rios who came

all the up from lightweight, not so much.

-Ooh! -Wow.

Ranallo: Garcia rocking Rios with a right hand,

and Rios just leaning in and throwing punches of his own.

Bernstein: Good hook by Rios.

Malignaggi: You know what's funny?

They both went the no-look route.

Garcia looked down and threw the overhand right to the top,

then Rios looked down and threw the left hook to the head.

Ranallo: Rios, a couple right upper cuts.

Garcia trying to stay calm under fire.

Bernstein: Big edge for Garcia in power punches.

That's anything that's not a jab is a power punch

according to ShoStats.

He's landed them more, but Rios kept the pressure

and made this entertaining during these rounds.

Work out, work out.

Ranallo: The pugnacious Brandon Rios throwing the jab.

Garcia along the ropes.

Right uppercut on the inside by Rios.

Check left hook by Garcia

as he pivots away from the ropes.

Malignaggi: You see Garcia is prepared for that uppercut,

because Rios keeps trying it, but Garcia

keeps changing the angle on it.

Ranallo: Nice combination.

Garcia targeted the body,

fired the right hand over the top.

Malignaggi: That's something Garcia's found

in the last round, round and half or so,

that looping right hand over the top.

Ranallo: Garcia attacking the body judiciously.

Again, landing the overhand right.

Rios standing right in front of him on the center line now.

Bernstein: When Garcia is not on the ropes, he's in control.

When he's on the ropes, he has some issues.

Ranallo: Left uppercut by Garcia as Rios leaned in, Paulie.

Malignaggi: Yeah, and of course he tries to do it

when he's on ropes, try to just avoid

the bad onslaught of Rios.

Even if he's not doing a lot of damage,

as long as Rios isn't doing damage,

it's the center ring work Garcia's doing

that's the carry the round.

Ranallo: Rios doing a good job in this round

of blocking some of those shots as well.

Garcia has obviously had his moments,

but Rios showing a lot of confidence.

Malignaggi: But Rios has to have the moments right here,

when he's got Garcia on the ropes.

These are time Rios has to have his moments.

At center ring, it's going to be Garcia scoring.

Ranallo: And yet, Al, Garcia using the left hand

to get off the ropes.

Bernstein: Yeah, exactly.

Combinations, obviously, for Garcia,

taking center stage.

Ranallo: So much at stake in this welterweight fight.

The winner, a chance at one of the champions.

Of course it would be a huge upset should Brandon Rios

defeat Danny Garcia, but Brandon Rios

said he did everything the right way.

Lands a right hand over the top.

Garcia comes back with the right.

Great stuff in Las Vegas!

[ Cheers and applause ]

And of course we talked about those champions.

As the fans approve, you have to approve of this graphic.

All three of these champions undefeated, Al.

Bernstein: Yeah. This division is a loaded division.

Those fighters, Shawn Porter, Terence Crawford

now up at welterweight,

and you know, we see Danny Garcia here.

There's Keith Thurman.

Ranallo: Not exactly a popular champion

here in Las Vegas, and speaking of Errol Spence,

hey, can you handle the tweet truth, Al?

Bernstein: [ Laughs ]

Ranallo: Errol Spence with designs on Danny Garcia

before the end of the year.

Well, Garcia has to get past Brandon Rios first.

Get back to the jab, and don't jump out.

Just straight up. You're jumping out...

[ Bell dings ]

"Showtime" Shawn Porter, guess what,

he's in attendance, guys.

Bernstein: He is here.

Ranallo: He's at every event.

He's a huge fan, first and foremost.

-Yeah, he is. -And he continues --

Malignaggi: Ooh.

Ranallo: And Rios landing that short right hand.

Malignaggi: That's something different Rios had done.

Instead of leading, he went with catch and shoot.

He translated the defense to offense

Ranallo: Left hook by Rios.

Ranallo: Sweeping right hand by Garcia

as he tries to escape.

Rios doing a good job of cutting off the ring.

Bernstein: One thing about this fight,

this is a different Brandon Rios

than we saw against Bradley.

He's active, he's landing some punches,

and he's not just accepting every punch

that's thrown to him.

While Garcia is having a lot of success,

so is Rios having some success.

Ranallo: Paulie, we always look for narratives,

we always look for story lines.

Are you seeing any signs of ring rust from Danny Garcia?

Malignaggi: Um, I don't know if it's ring rust.

He's just trying to settle his way in there.

His sense of timing is pretty good.

He's stepping back, timing, stepping in and smothering,

he's cognizant of his defense.

Sure, Rios is landing some good shots,

and obviously that's going to be from the all-out effort

that Rios is putting in, you know?

He's going to make smart moves on the inside

when he gets there.

I don't see Garcia having too much rust. Ranallo: No.

Malignaggi: Of course the pace, if it gets too fast for him,

we'll obviously see more.

Bernstein: And he's throwing some nice combinations,

Danny Garcia.

The head shots landed so for, according to ShoStats,

certainly an edge for Garcia, but Brandon Rios has made

some things happen in this fight,

and that's what's made it entertaining so far.

Ranallo: In the past, Garcia struggled

against boxers with good movement.

That wouldn't be the way to describe Brandon Rios.

Malignaggi: This is the Rios way here, speaking of pace.

Ranallo: Piling on the pressure.

Malignaggi: This is where you'll really get to see

how sharp Garcia is if Rios is able to up the pace here.

Bernstein: In this round, Rios has thrown 20 more punches

and landed more than Garcia.

In this round, Brandon Rios has gotten a lot done.

And blocked the right hand. How 'bout that? Go figure.

Ranallo: Right uppercut on the inside lands for Rios.

Garcia missing with those two left hands.

Bernstein: And he slipped a punch Those are big news flashes.

Malignaggi: Yeah, 'cause that was a double left hook

Danny Garcia was landing early on.

He would double the hook to the body, hook to the head.

Now, Rios is automatic to ducking

underneath the second hook.

Ranallo: Again, Garcia backing up to the ropes,

and Rios tags him with the short left.

But then Garcia uses the jab to score lateral movement.

And on the pivot, it was Rios that lands the lead right hand.

Malignaggi: Rios is having a good round.

Bernstein: He sure is.

This looks a little bit like

the old Brandon Rios of the lightweight days

and his beginning as a welterweight.

Ranallo: Good action in round 6.

Bernstein: And he's jabbing, which is important.

[ Bell dings ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

Malignaggi: Rios had himself a good round.

Ranallo: And a roar of approval from the good crowd

in attendance here at Mandalay Bay Events Center

in Las Vegas.

Yo, why the fuck is you not being brutal

with this motherfucker?

Listen, every time you go in and clinch,

you worrying about grabbing and pushing,

that he's coming at you

instead of you protecting and hitting him.

When he's getting closer --

when he gets close, you got to get --

you got to counter of him.

Be smart.

Bernstein: Brandon Rios in the last round

putting the pressure on Danny Garcia,

getting him against the ropes.

Garcia trying, as Paulie said --

there's the jab by Garcia trying to keep Rios at bay.

While he jabs, he throws the uppercut,

which lands and the left hook.

So the combinations of double left hook by Rios.

What's he's doing is throwing...

He threw a lot of punches in that last round,

and he was very aggressive.

[ Bell dings ]

Ranallo: We begin the second half

of this 12-round welterweight fight.

Garcia, eight-week training camp at his gym in Philadelphia,

and Rios, also a strong camp.

Again, back with Robert Garcia, and you're seeing

that work with Garcia pay off thus far

as Rios has acquitted himself well.

Bernstein: You know, in the last round,

Rios, according to ShoStats, threw his high for the fight,

87, and landed his high for the fight, 24.

So that round was a good one.

Ranallo: Let's bring in our unofficial scorer, Steve Farhood.

Farhood: Well, I have it 4 rounds to 2 for Garcia.

It's an interesting puzzle for the judges,

because they have to weigh Garcia's cleaner punches

and at times heavier punches versus Rios's pressure

and his volume punching.

That's what the judges have to decide each round,

and it is getting tougher and tougher to do that.

Malignaggi: It's getting meaner and meaner in there, too.

Bernstein: It sure is.

Ranallo: Nice exchange here in the opening minute

of round 7 as Brandon Rios marching forward.

Garcia keeping him at bay with the jab to the body.

Bernstein: You know, some are going to want

to remember Danny Garcia landed, maybe,

Danny Garcia has landed about four monstrous right hands.

Rios looked like he should have been hurt, but he wasn't.

And there's another one.

Ranallo: Garcia pops Rios head back.

Rios keeping Garcia against the ropes.

Garcia firing off the right hand, bobbing and weaving.

Lead right hand to the body by Garcia.

Bernstein: Rios has not done that much body work in this fight.

Good combination punching by Danny Garcia.

Ranallo: Paulie, Garcia continues to find himself

along on the ropes. Is that by design?

Malignaggi: Well, I think he's being pressured there,

but he's being smart off the ropes in this round.

He's shifty, countered there... -Oh, lead right hand.

...countered over the top with the jab there.

And then when he runs out of space,

he'll do that and he'll cause a clinch,

and the break will make the fight

wind up back in middle of the ring,

which is where Garcia has the advantage.

Nice counter left hook.

Ranallo: Left hook by Garcia that scored.

Malignaggi: Garcia's had some sharp counters this round.

Ranallo: Right hand by Garcia that connected.

And now Garcia beginning to feel it.

Picking up the pace here.

Three-punch combination that landed.

Malignaggi: Rios not respecting the power,

but what's happening with him getting hit with these counters

is he's still losing the round.

Bernstein: Right, and the movement of Garcia

has been excellent in this fight.

And he hasn't gotten caught on the ropes.

Ranallo: Garcia utilizing lateral movement,

putting together a crisp combination.

Good counter punch.

Nice short right hand that landed

for the former two-division champion.

Garcia attacking the body,

and then moving away from the ropes.

Good finish to the seventh round for Danny Garcia.

[ Bell dings ] Time!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Man: Keeping moving, Danny! Keep moving!

[ Conversation in Spanish ]

We need that. You know that, right.

-Yeah. -Okay.

Then show me. Show us, all right?

Show us.

Bernstein: Danny Garcia had an excellent round

in last round, and was able to land, again,

the lead right hands that his was landing

earlier in this fight.

And yet, another lead right hand later in the round.

Fighting off the ropes very effectively there.

He has landed just some excellent rights,

and Brandon Rios has been able to take them.

The guy who has a pretty good overhand right is Shawn Porter,

who would love to be in there against perhaps

a Danny Garcia or whoever wins this fight,

and certainly wants a rematch with Keith Thurman.

Ranallo: We are in round 8.

Rios coming out and landing couple of uppercuts

on the inside, but Garcia, again,

utilizing lateral movement.

Ranallo: But Rios tenacious with his attack.

Malignaggi: Rios not accepting the clinch there,

and that's what he's got to do.

That's how he has to do it, because Garcia gets a free pass

with the clinches because he lands some good shots,

runs out of room, clinches, and then on the break,

you know, he'll get the space again.

Ranallo: Three-punch combination by Garcia that landed.

Malignaggi: Rios has to do a fine job of getting inside

and not accepting that clinch,

and he did a good job there again.

Ranallo: Right uppercut on the inside by Rios.

Rios continuing to be the stalker,

trying to back Garcia up to the ropes.

Bernstein: Good body work by Rios.

In this round now, it's gone back

to the way it was the round before the last round.

Ranallo: Lot of punches on the inside.

Broad exchanges in the close quarters.

Malignaggi: Whoever loses the round gets that mouthful

from the corner, comes out more motivated.

Bernstein: Exactly. [ Laughs ]

Ranallo: Double jab by Garcia.

Let's take a look at the record past round 7, Al.

Bernstein: Yeah, clearly Danny Garcia very, very effective.

The one loss was a very close loss to Keith Thurman.

He's had couple decisions that some people

think could have gone the other way that he won.

And Rios has done well,

though not as well, clearly, in 12-rounders.

Mauricio Herrera, Lamont Peterson

somewhere agreeing with you right now. Bernstein: Yes, they are.

Malignaggi: Of course, one of those two knockouts

after the seventh round was, unfortunately --

Ranallo: Oh, good right-left combination by Garcia.

And putting together some crisp combinations.

Garcia keeping Brandon Rios honest.

Malignaggi: And that's Garcia at his best right there --

Get off the shot and get the fight

back to the middle of the ring.

And when he was the fight back to the middle of the ring,

he has space behind him where he can he back up

to the ropes if he wants to.

The thing about being on the ropes is

you're kind of out of space to move around and shift.

Ranallo: Final minute of the eighth round.

Our unofficial scorer, Steve Farhood,

has it in favor of Garcia.

Bernstein: This was a round in which Rios

was making some progress.

Now Garcia has taken control.

Ranallo: Right hand by Rios, goes to the body.

Malignaggi: Spoke to soon, Al.

Ranallo: But Garcia rolling with those punches.

And Garcia unloads a combination to Rios's face.

30 seconds left in the eighth round,

and it's been a good fight, guys.

Plenty of action.

Malignaggi: A big difference in this fight is Garcia

is more fluid going from defense to offense.

Rios, when he's on defense, has to kind of reset himself

to shoot his offense.

Bernstein: Counter left hook by Rios off the right hand below.

Malignaggi: He must have heard me then.

He wanted to be fluid of the defense, too.

Bernstein: He did. Yes. He listens to you, Paulie.

Ranallo: Right hand at the bell by Danny Garcia.

Here at Showtime Sports, we are a family,

and tonight marks the final broadcast

for one of our longtime family members,

audio assistant Art Reilly who began here

At Showtime 25 years ago.

Tonight, we say farewell to one of our family members.

We want to wish Art all the best.

He says he's finally going to get a chance

to really do some quality time with his wife,

and we wish him the best -- Al and Paulie.

Bernstein: Yeah, we sure do.

Malignaggi: Always super helpful,

and he's responsible for making a lot

of knots in my ties now.

[ Laughter ]

Now, I'm going to have to make my own knots.

Art was the man.

[ Whistle blows ]

[ Bell dings ]

Ranallo: This is round 9.

Scheduled for 12 in the welterweight division.

Garcia explodes with a combination

to the body before landing the jab upstairs.

Malignaggi: Body shots by Garcia.

Rios still undaunted -Oh, yeah.

He's been bringing the fight the whole way.

Ranallo: He continues to march forward.

Leans into Garcia, attacking him.

While some of the punches scored,

none of them seem to be hurting Garcia, Al.

Bernstein: Oh, there's a nice double left hook.

Garcia is landing 45% of his power punches tonight.

Again, everything other than the jab,

so his percentage of accuracy is quite good.

Ranallo: Garcia using the jab.

That combination, the last punch

blocked by the guard of Brandon Rios.

Bernstein: When Rios jabs his way in,

as is often the case with aggressive punchers

like him, he's just so much more effective.

Even a pawing jab can get him in better position.

Ranallo: And they continue to throw punches in bunches.

A minute gone in the ninth round.

Garcia goes downstairs.

Short left to the body,

and now Rios attacking the body.

Speaking of body shots, Al.

Bernstein: This is kind of revealing,

because it should be the other way around.

Rios, if he was going to be effective in this fight,

needed to land more of those.

Ranallo: Oh, a right hand by Garcia.

Malignaggi: Big shot for Garcia, right hand,

both on the leads and the counters.

Ranallo: There's another right cross

by Garcia that scored.

And now Rios's face beginning to get marked up

as he feels the power of Danny "Swift" Garcia,

and yet, as you mentioned, Paulie,

undaunting in his attack, Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios.

Malignaggi: He actually gets more angry.

Bernstein: You know, he's a 13-year veteran,

and we talked about all the wars he's been in.

As we head into later rounds, could be some attrition

with him because -- Oh, my.

Ranallo: Oh, what a right hand by Danny Garcia!

5,

6,

7,

8...

You okay? -Yeah.

Come to me.

Come!

Rios down for the fifth time,

and referee Kenny Bayless stops the fight!

Right is might on this night!

[ Cheers and applause ]

A valiant warrior, Brandon Rios,

being helped back to his corner.

We talk about Danny Garcia's left hook.

Bernstein: Right.

Ranallo: We need to talk about that thunderous right hand.

Bernstein: Boy, you are right, because Keith Thurman

saw some power from Danny Garcia.

Danny Garcia, you mentioned it, is known as a left-hook artist.

He has a decent right hand,

but tonight it was the primary weapon of choice.

And at the end of the day is what created that knockout.

Malignaggi: And the timing, the timing, the timing.

Garcia always effective with his timing.

You look at him,

he doesn't look like anything super special with super speed,

doesn't dazzle you with combinations,

but an incredible sense of timing

and always has the guts to hold his ground

when it's the right time to shoot those counters.

Bernstein: It was a gutsy effort by Brandon Rios,

and he did make some things happen

early in the fight, but at the end of the day,

the skill level of Danny Garcia

who was a huge favorite coming into this fight,

was too much for him.

And you see as we look at the numbers,

Rios and Garcia both threw a lot of punches.

Rios was very active as well,

but the accuracy of Garcia better.

Landing 46% power punches according to ShoStats,

which is remarkable.

And we talked about the defense of Garcia,

which for the most part was very good,

and those percentages landed by Rios very low.

We will revisit the knockdown by Danny Garcia.

We mentioned, as a welterweight, he has not always enjoyed

the luxury of these big knockouts,

but against a fighter coming up and still not considered

a true welterweight, he was able to do it.

A beautiful right hand.

Malignaggi: Counter right hand, again, over the top of the jab.

Rios has never got the hang of that.

Bernstein: No. Malignaggi: You know, you got to start feinting

with is that jab if you see the other guy

coming over the top of it wit the right hand,

and it just was landing.

-Look at Rios. -He tried to get up.

Ranallo: Still tried to get up.

Malignaggi: But a sharp shot over the top of the jab,

and Garcia had done that numerous times

over the course of the night

but Rios never caught on to it.

Bernstein: And Kenny Bayless, I think,

doing an excellent job because you can see

Brandon Rios was not really...

Brandon Rios was kind of trying to con him

by doing a little shuffle there, but that didn't work.

And I think Kenny Bayless was right.

Again, the left hand very low.

The right hand coming from Danny Garcia,

a repeated theme during the course of this evening.

We'll talk about what Paulie did.

The jab, the jab languishes.

Malignaggi: Being lazy. Brings it back too lazy.

Brings it back too low,

and Garcia holding his ground as I said.

That what he does so well,

and doesn't get enough credit for it.

When he counters, he holds his ground

and plants himself, slips and shoots

with the weight behind the shot,

because he's got his feet planted.

Held his ground. and he's able come up

using the momentum of Rios along with his own right hand.

Ranallo: And there you witness the 20th knockout

of Danny "Swift" Garcia's career,

and Garcia now in line to face the best

that the welterweight division has to offer.

As we make it official, here is Jimmy Lennon Jr.

[ Bell dings ]

Lennon: Ladies and gentlemen, we have the time

of 2:25 in round 9.

Our referee in charge, Kenny Bayless, stops the contest.

He is the winner by way of technical knockout,

Danny "Swift" Garcia!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Listen with Your Ears: Perfecting Audio - Duration: 3:54.

In this episode you will learn about

your ears and what they are telling you.

In this episode I'd like you to join me

in a game.

I'm going to put you into two scenarios

and I wanted to use your imagination

and your mind to travel to these places.

I want you to look around for clues and prompts

as to what you may hear

should you be standing in that situation?

So what did you hear?

We will be looking at each scene later

a little deeper and analyzing

what you may have seen and heard?

Did you find any clues in each scene

to the sounds you may use

if you had to design this scene from scratch?

Let's look at another situation

now that you have a better handle on what we're doing

let's try something a little more complex.

So what did you hear?

We'll be looking at this scene a little deeper later

and analyzing what you maybe seeing

and hearing, in the meantime

let's go back to the field

to take a closer look.

Well can you remember how you heard this?

Having a look around you

there are always general

things that you can be aware of.

Firstly the weather

is everything wet?

That'll allow you for a much weightier feel

to the atmosphere. It will also highlight

any foliage in the area

be it deciduous or evergreen.

The ground will dictate all

your movement in the scene

whether people are walking

on grass or dust?

If there are no people,

then what animals are here?

The feel of a scene lends so

much to its ambient sound,

you have to be so sympathetic

to all its facets to make

the viewer believe they are truly there.

Birdsong is a fabulous tool to

transplant viewers, though be

exceptionally careful to make sure the

birds are native to the area,

also that it is the right time of year

that they are making those noises.

Get it wrong and you'll have half

your audience snap out of the magic

before they can blink.

Let's go back to the street.

Can you remember how

you heard this scene?

Street scenes can be so complex,

the amount of traffic,

the amount of people,

the time of day, what year is it?

Is it wet, is it dry?

What shoes are people wearing?

Are there street sellers?

Where is the street located?

Is it in Europe or in the States? The

vehicle sound so different.

If it's a location that you're not familiar

with then you need to do some research.

Street scenes need really deep analysis

and creativity to keep the viewer

with you. Now, have a look at the two scenes again

and have a think about how you would see

them with your ears?

This little game is exceptionally

important to you and how aware you are

of your ears and how your vision

may dictate what it is you think

you should be hearing?

What I'm trying to encourage you to do

is actually see your world through your ears

and listen to what it is you should be hearing.

We can look at another two scenarios

in some other episode and have a look at what we may

hear in those locations.

Eberron Lore - Creation Myth & The Goblin Nation - Duration: 6:45.

Hello everybody Jorphdan here the PH is silent and welcome to Eberron Explained.

A new series where I dive into the lore and history of the Eberron Campaign Setting.

Since this is the first episode I feel it's always best to start with creation mythology.

The beginning of Eberron is fantastic and magical.

It could be how the world and universe of the Eberron Campaign Setting was created,

or it could be a myth believed by the folk of Eberron.

It's really up to you to decide, which you'll learn that Eberron leaves bits of lore and

history opened ended for you the Dungeon Master and player to fill in the blanks.

Deciding for yourself, for your table, how the world of Eberron exists.

Or leave it ambiguous because that's fun too.

One of the important rules for Eberron is "if there is a place for it in D&D there

is a place for it in Eberron;" just perhaps not how you might think.

Let's get started.

To the locals Eberron is known as the Dragon between.

It is the ground under the feet of the people of Eberron.

The beginning of this setting starts with three mighty dragons, the first dragons that

ever existed.

These dragons were large god like beings that had power beyond measure.

The three dragons were Kyber, Siberys, and Eberron.

Together these dragons crafted the planes at the dawn of time, and decided to rest in

the space that lies between them.

According to the Adventurer's Guide to Eberron the three dragons were able to live in peace

until the discovery of a mysterious prophecy.

I'm not sure what this prophecy is as I couldn't find anything other than it was

a prophecy but it shook things up.

Evil Khyber fought the others to control this prophecy.

Khyber destroyed Siberys who was torn to pieces and became known as the Dragon Above.

A ring of glowing shards that encircles the world of Eberron.

Khyber then fought Eberron who in this combat realized he could not win.

So he wrapped himself around Khyber and trapped him.

Their bodies formed the planet, Khyber became the world below, a monster filled maze of

caverns that fills the planet.

Eberron became the surface world, the dragon between.

In the 4e cosmology this was changed slightly.

Siberys became the Astral Sea, Eberron the Prime Material Plane, and Khyber the Elemental

Chaos.

Remember all things in D&D have a place in Eberron, so the new 4e mythology was adapted

for Eberron.

Some like to think of it like this, others think Eberron is more isolated and that Siberys

is the dragon above, a broken ring that encircles the planet.

Eberron the dragon between, the ground we live upon.

And Khyber is more of a reflection of the Underdark than a place like the Abyss or the

Elemental Chaos.

Regardless Khyber is where all the fiends, devils, and strange monsters of the world

come from.

Eberron is where all the natural species live, and broken Siberys hangs above; who's blood

is the source of all magic.

Eberron has twelve moons and seven continents surrounded by oceans and a vast underworld.

The continents are named (and please forgive me I couldn't find a pronunciation guide

for this): Aerenal, Argonnessen, Everice, Frostfell, Khorvaire, Sarlona, and Xen'drik.

According to myth the blood of these great dragons created all the races of Eberron.

Life sprang from the dragons' blood that spilled in the initial great battle.

Siberys created the dragons, Eberron created humanoids and other "lower races," and

Khyber created the demons of the world.

Demons in the sense of terrible monsters not necessarily the hard D&D definition of a creature

native to the Abyss.

The early history of Eberron isn't well documented.

But there were four great ages past after the creation of the world.

First the Age of Dragons, which we talked about was the three dragons creating life

in the Universe during a great battle until they became the sky, land, and tunnels below.

Next is the age of demons.

Evil creatures from the depth of Khyber broke free and overran the world.

The dragons who lived on Eberron fought back with the help of the couatls.

Couatls are radiant, winged serpents born from Siberys' blood.

The Couatls seeing no end to the conflict sacrificed themselves to bind the 40 greatest

demons (known as the dark lords and eventually known as the Lord of Dust) and imprison them

beneath Eberron.

Today the Couatls are virtually unknown and appear only in myth and legend.

Next was the age of Giants.

The Giants built an advanced society on the continent of Xen'drik.

The giants ruled because there was nothing more powerful to oppose them.

The dragons could have but they were in hiding researching the prophecy that started the

great battle between the three Progenitor dragons.

The giant civilization rose up from the war between the dragons and demons.

They enslaved many of the elves in that region.

The elves rebelled with the help of an invading race known as the Quori.

Now the quori are living nightmares from beyond the world.

An extra planar location known as Dal Quor, the Region of Dreams.

It was the aftermath of the fighting with the quori that the elves, and drow saw their

chance to rebel.

The giants were prepared to use some cataclysmic magic to thwart their slaves and the quori

but the dragons decided to intervene.

They stopped the giants and when they were done nothing was left of the once-great giant

civilization.

The ruins of said civilization can still be found in Xen'drik.

The final age was the age of Monsters.

After the fall of the giants lesser races found room to thrive.

Elves, Goblins, and Orcs began to develop larger settlements, even cities.

Their cultures blossomed.

On Khorvaire, one of the seven continents, a great goblin civilization arose known as the

Dhakaani Empire.

It marked the rise of Khorvaire being the dominant continent in the world.

Part of their success was the absorption of other goblin nations into the Dhakaani Empire.

It steadily grew larger and larger, more organized and powerful.

Remember all aspects of D&D are in Eberron but might not be what you expect.

A smart, powerful, organized and thriving goblin empire is one of them.

The Orcs at this time were mostly nomadic, and the Elves ran from the goblin empire to

create their own cities on other continents.

In fact the Elves attempted to take Khorvaire from the goblins but lost a bloody and long

war with them.

They left back to the continent of Aerenal defeated.

The fall of this goblin empire occurred when portals were opened to the Realm of Madness.

Creatures known as daelkyr came in and just decimated the goblin cities from within.

Where they couldn't outright kill they sowed seeds of chaos among goblins leading to a

civil war.

Eventually the Orc Druids stepped in and were able to close the portals but the damage had

been done to the goblin civilization.

A civil war left the Dhakanni Empire in shambles.

It was around this time that halfings were able to start building societies.

Until now they had been under the firm thumb of the goblins and orcs.

And that's where we will end for today.

Next time I'll discuss the rise of Khorvaire and it's civilizations.

I'm still learning as I go but I super appreciate you taking this journey with me.

Thanks for watching everyone, and thanks so much to my patrons on patreon that make this

videos happen.

If you want to support Eberron Explained and the videos I make here on YouTube consider

stopping by and becoming a patron.

Every bit really helps me out.

Until next week take care everybody.
