245. Rewilding Australia - Duration: 0:59.

Hey guys and welcome to goodness!

Today's goodness is about rewilding in Australia!

Rewilding means to re-introduce animals or plants

to their original habitats or

a similar habitat to their natural one.

And in Australia, there have been 10 native mammals

that have been extinct from

the state of New South Wales

for over a century!

So, to restore the natural balance,

the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC)

and the NSW State Government,

are starting a rewilding project,

at the Mallee Cliffs National Park!

They will be bringing back animals like

the bridled nailtail wallaby,

brush-tailed bettong, greater bilby,

greater stick-nest rat, numbat,

red-tailed phascogale, western barred bandicoot

and the western quoll!

These animals will have a 9,600 hectare home,

which will be protected by a conservation fence

to prevent foxes and feral cats from entering!

So yay for biodiversity!
